ok anon so u have basically opened up a can of worms for me . so in reality i do think mick is very frat boy coded and if i think of a mick that’s characterised very canon compliantly, i think: a king himbo like dude… he’s always just sort of known he’s not cis and/or het but didn’t think much of it, but when it comes down to it and he has to confront actual feelings and all that he struggles bc he’s always upheld this image of a poster boy etc etc

i believe that his symbol, the dragon (this is the trans dragon drawjg i rb-d yesterday :)) which he uses a lot (on his helmets and stuff) signifies change in many cultures… at least that’s what it means to me personally.

i also think that f1 drivers in general have a lot of potential with being written as trans in fic simply bc it’s the whole ‘when i out my helmet on and get in the car i am just a driver and no one can see Me’ ?? if that makes sense ?? like personally for me i really enjoy that analogy.

tbh i haven’t read much transmick fic (but if there r recs…… pls send them my way) but like if i were to imagine a general scenario it’s the one i talked abt in the real based thing . basically just wilhelm in young royals sort of arc..

or maybe we could go a different direction and take into consideration the fact that he grew more introverted w each racing series promotion ? maybe he saw that things were getting more and more serious and the pool of ‘talent’ was getting narrower and narrower and less diverse. so maybe he doesn’t wanna tell anyone that he’s transitioned/wants to transition. so he starts getting more secretive bc he doesn’t wanna find out how the worlds gonna treat him ? he doesn’t wanna lose a shot at f1 either ..

when he gets to f1 it’s the time when seb and lewis are advocating for change and equality in the sport. so that’s why he starts getting close and closer to them mostly 😔✊ i feel like he could go either way w telling seb or lewis first bc mb hes closer to seb so he feels more comfortable but what if thats the thing. he’s scared seb won’t accept him bc seb has known him for so long so he tells lewis first instead hmmmm

Been a long while since i’ve last updated this space and I wonder if people still read my post.  It’s been a long while coming back to church. I kind of still rmb the date that I’ve started going back church.. prolly around 20+ October.  And I still rmb how lost I felt because of wtv that have transpired during Oct to Nov 2022 cause it was really a terrifying period for WNB. I really had alot of bad night sleeps. Sometimes there were only 2 hours of sleep cause I was waiting for my developer to get back which he sometimes get back at 4 am or never did and I had to rush him for it.  We were basically stuck on a project and looking back, it was a mistake for us to:  #1: Accepted a job that had a very rushed timeline by client. It was initially not so rushed, but client wanted to rush it, so we only had 1 month to do up the 1st draft. And being as unexperienced gundos, we complied without knowing the technical complexities behind it.  #2. We engaged a very bad developer whom we did not work with before cause of kind - of introduction by another client. Instead of engaging our usual developer, we chose another one thinking pricer = better. But we were wrong in the end. He was not responsive and he really totally suck.  We ended up needed to engage a total of 3 developers to solve this mess. But because of this mess that was created right from the beginning, we ended up have to let go of this project because we didnt iron out the wireframe and user flow right from the beginning.  #3. So it was our mistake right from the start for not drawing out the user flow, because it means we couldn't foresee how many pages or designs we need to do to create a functional website, which ended up with a myriad of problems like rushed timeline etc.  I still rmb feeling so distraught by the project that I simply sat outside 7/11 at bugis+ and watching the cars past by. I was already smoking at that point in time, so I rmb smoking sticks after sticks while watching the cars past by.  I still rmb it was the rainy season for Singapore. So it kind of rained and drizzled. While waiting for the rain to end, I smoked indoors before going out to smoke again haha.  I still rmb it was Deepavali eve, and I was dreading for Tuesday to come. I knew I had to face client’s remarks when Tuesday comes.  Those were prolly one of my firm’s darkest days, and 2022 was a very tough year for us. Not only did client not pay on time, we had to face harsh criticism from clients and there were existing clients who dropped out too.  Now that this big storm has passed and we’re into much smoother waves, I’m simply thankful for how 2023 has transpired so far. Of course, its far too early to know how 2023 will end, but i’m immensely thankful for all the deals closed and all the clients earned.  But more importantly, thanking God for leading me back to church, to the House of God, back to this safe nest where I feel assured and calm.  I still get reminded of those dark days time to time, such as today. My heart still skipped a beat when that nasty client texted us for some follow up questions cause her tone simply sucks. Of course, as vendors we have our faults but I would like to think that the very fact that we have compensated by offering a refund, our culpability has ended. But anyways that is besides the point.  My mind still wanders back to those dark days when I walked past 7/11, but i’m just so glad, its all over now.  As i was journalling today, tears rolled down my cheeks. Maybe those days were really tough but I held it all in, without knowing I was on the brink of breaking. It was honestly a traumatising experience.  But maybe, those tears were also signs of gratitude towards God, for pulling me back to Church, where the Home is. I’m such a blessed child of God, where He really chased after my heart. I’m truly blessed.  And lastly, thankful for these 2 friends. One who randomly texted me on Sat afternoon thanking me, and another one for always jioing me to meals and winning me back to church subconsciously. 

Tonight is such a warmly night. 

I really hope, my presence makes cell alot less boring for them. And one day, may all prodigal children find Home.  Oh, how He loves us.

Yugioh S5 Ep 20: Pharaoh’s Cool New Trick

Digging my way through quite a pile of commission work (funny how these things only come all at once or not at all), nearing the light at the end of the tunnel, was looking forward to some free time to catch up on my many little side projects when I was asked to take off for a weekend to do some cat-sitting to which I would NEVER say no to a cat, so like...Rip this blog I guess, we only update like once a week nowadays, but what do you do?

That’s right, play Puzzles and Dragons! The only phone game worth paying any attention to! Where they just released Pegasus on their Yugioh Collab and he looks pretty great!

So I’m just gonna take a second for some art appreciation, because the Puzzles and Dragons art team is just A++++ honestly, and yes, I did pull 13 times to get a Pegasus in my monster box, and yes, he is a completely insane team leader that is absolutely broken when paired with Yugi (the numbers are so satisfying) but...look at him. He looks so good!

(also I finally got Joey Wheeler, and so now my gatcha cravings are settled. And, don’t worry, I play this game so much that I was there during Christmas when they offered like a bajillion stones for free so I didn’t actually use real money on this.)

Now PAD also released a Weevil and Rex, and I don’t know why, and neither does the art team because they still look pretty good but in comparison to all the mains, they sure do looks like just some shorty guys in some casuals.

though I gotta admit, I want to learn how the hell this art team does swooshy effects, because man, that would make my art so much better to just have flames violently exploding out of all my art. Why am I not doing that more often? I have the technology.

anyway, I didn’t bother trying to pull them. Maybe I’ll accidentally pull them when they eventually release a Duke Devlin. (also, RIP to the fact that Roland will probably never be in Puzzles and Dragons but like...I can only send them so many polite letters covered in stickers pretending I’m some 10 year old child and writing in my broken Hiragana “Roland in PAD?”. Thems the breaks. (They also might not remember who Roland is.))

Anyway, after announcing “hey guys! Screw islands!” Yugi immediately collapses and without any warning.

Apparently the armor is a big ol parasite, which is something that Yugi is so used to at this point that he refuses to admit that this is a problem. Just normal Muto stuff, refusing to tell anyone that he has a serious illness going on underneath that giant mass of hair.

Sort of feels like a call back to S1 when Yugi was clearly possessed and everyone else was like “He acting weird to you?” except it’s S5 and everyone has learned to never trust Yugi when he says he’s fine and they are responding like he is about to die. Which is correct.

Outside of the cave falls this scroll that is...glowing, I guess. So they open it up and get a bunch of hieroglyphs that give them the “riddle of light” and like youknow...it’s riddle stuff.

They’re doing this riddle for “wings.” And it’s like...everyone’s monster here has a set of wings or an ability to fly. Every single monster except for I dunno, flaming swordsman? Hell, Yugi himself had two sets of wings when he fused with Dark Magician (which was weird, and I still don’t like to think about what technically was going on there.) But we have to go and get ourselves even more wings.

Weirdly, Joey turns to Tea and does something that in any other show would be completely normal. He was like “you want to stay here with Yugi, don’t you?” and it was the first time Joey has ever actually addressed the fact that Tea and Yugi are close. Uncharted territory. I was amazed at the amount of casual shipping that is happening here. It’s almost like a normal ass relationship.

So the boys decide to go off, and be boys and tackle this themselves. And they shouldn’t have, because Tea is smart for this group, and also has the only healing spell.

Like if you’re playing D+D you wouldn’t typically leave your only healer behind. Just saying.

Also like...Grandpa Muto went with them? I guess he’d have to since he’s the translator but also...kind of weird to leave your grandson dying in a cave, but maybe that’s just the Muto lifestyle.

Do not be fooled by my caps, no one has addressed the Bakura in the puzzle for 3 seasons. I’m starting to think this show will never address the Bakura in the puzzle. Which honestly, that would be hilarious if they made a big deal out of that plot point and then couldn’t use it in the end.

And speaking of plot points that kind of come out of nowhere and don’t make full sense with the continuity of the show--Joey has regressed back to the 4th grade.

So like if you love Joey, this is not the arc for you, because this arc he is reduced to a Himbo and nothing else. Straight up didn’t know what an echo is, but is very strong and pretty, I guess.

This inevitably happens with any TV show becuase different people make different parts, and I’ve brought up before that sometimes it feels like some teams only have loose post-it notes of what any character should be like at any given point (ESPECIALLY with Seto Kaiba’s timeline) but like...

...Personally I’m mot so fond of this interpretation of Joey, kind of ignores Joey’s best traits, and makes Tristan look way too smart in comparison (and like I always pinned Tristan to be the Himbo of the group, but maybe it’s because they give Tristan so little else to do?)

And like don’t get me wrong, Joey’s a dumbass a lot of the time and needs to get corrected by his pals...but...to the point he doesn’t know what an echo is? He’s a dumbass in a High School student sort of way, youknow?

Anyway, they get down to this big ravine, and they have to destroy this stone while the light passes over it. Kind of feels like a Breath of the Wild shrine quest, actually. In fact, I think Breath of the Wild recycled the shadow/sunlight pathing quest like 4 or 5 times. (I love Breath of the Wild to death but boy did they run out of ideas at the end there.)

They have to fight a glass monster and it’s kind of like...do you know the game Balls 3D? probably not, but it looked like a bunch of random shapes stuck together like a 90′s animation. They basically went to war with shapes.

Pure Himbo energy, has several pokemon, but punches for his pokemon instead of using them. A power move if I ever saw one.

Youknow that would make pokemon a lot more interesting if you could like throw out your pikachu, and then choose to just physically run up to your opponents Eevee and sock it in the jaw. Raise of hands--I know you all would love a version of pokemon like that. Let Ash Ketchum punch a Ratata.

Bro has informed me that Ash does do something like this in the anime. But I’m not talking about the anime, I’m talking about the video game. Give me the option to physically combat my rival. This is what I want, Pokemon.

They discover a way to break the monolith, and the show thinks we’re like actually 7 years old (because the show is Y7, although I forget because it deals with so many dark themes) so the show is going to hold on to this puzzle for a while...just to fill time. And it’s fine because we gotta switch over to Pharaoh anyway.

Yami has this dream again. He attempts to fuse with Dark magician to overcome the dream, but alas, he is still not strong enough.

Yugi wakes up in this murky cave while Tea is out washing out like...some rag? (he’s also still got a rag, so I guess multiple rags were required for how sweaty Yugi is.)

Yugi says “I feel like I’m a new man!” a lot in this episode, and every time he calls himself a man like he’s some sort of adult it’s very funny to me.

And then this plot lore dropped.

I mean I guess inevitably it had to happen...

But man, end of an era. It was freakin hilarious while it lasted: that Pharaoh refused to read ancient Egyptian because it’s like 2002 and he is a High Schooler living in Japan and he actually doesn’t WANT to resolve the mystery of the puzzle. Maybe the people who made this arc don’t know about how in S2 and S3, the fact Pharaoh couldn’t read Marik’s back tatt was like...a really big issue. He couldn’t read the God card, he couldn’t even read that massive tablet that read “HEY PHARAOH THIS IS LITERALLY YOU”. KAIBA had to tell him how to read the God card for him. Freakin Seto “Magic is a lie” Kaiba had to tell him how to use the God Card because Pharaoh couldn’t read it.

But like...Pharaoh finally gave in at some point after the world was devoured by the Leviathan, and before Kaiba finished building Kaibaland (which was already built in S1 but wtv)

The timelines on this show have always been a mishmash...but this one is just like...

...show are you trying to convince me that at any point in this show after season Zero, Pharaoh had any idea what he was doing? Did he sap that brain energy straight out of Joey Wheeler so he could do this?

and when Tea was like “Pharaoh that is not even remotely logic. Omg it’s so bright outside, lets go back to gross cave.” and Pharaoh was like “Tea! You got it!” and she was like “What the hell are you talking about?”

Not gonna lie, I saw the Orichalcos green, and I got concerned.

Anyway, Yugi gets very frustrated and was like “ugh, lets go save em. They’re gonna die (again.)” and marches down there as if he didn’t pass out an hour ago.

And he fuses with Dark Magician again while everyone else (including his grandpa) was like “Yugi are you freakin kidding me? The suit freakin kills you omg! Tea you had one freakin job!”

And then we get the plot twist that...I mean it makes sense but it was choreographed in a confusing way.

And out of no where this guy shows up again:

So this mysterious man shows up and says “If you don’t succeed you have to live here forever” which...nice...that would probably save the world a lot of problems if Yami got locked away and took his OP puzzle with him. And then this man also says “if you do succeed you become VERY POWERFUL” and Yami was like. “...”

This whole episode had a theme to it, where Tristan and Joey were trying to prove that they could do things on their own and without Yugi’s help. And honestly...felt a little bit misplaced. Yami’s the same guy who murdered Yugi last season with the Orichalcos so like...

...I mean he is probably more reliable than Tristan who once died and turned into a robot monkey for 10ish episodes.

and then they flew into a glowing door.

Folks, this was wild to look at.

This is wild.

And at this point I closed Photoshop and thought I was done. But then I looked at my timeline on the video and was like...wait...there’s more?

and I’m really glad I kept watching because it went back to Alex, who...is apparently just still at those steps in this haunted ass Pyramid.

Now we’re watching Yugioh.

I forgot for a second when they turned Joey into a Himbo and made Pharaoh literate, but we’re back. I mean...

...look at the liner art on this adult man.

So...I posit the question...has Alex spent the last 2-3 episodes doing nothing but applying eyeliner to his face in the dark? Because he absolutely has. And honestly, the vibe of being in a spooky haunted pyramid with barely any light, just applying eyeliner down the edge of your face...that’s a Yugioh vibe, if I ever saw one.

This arc is wild. Anyway, next episode we do even more fetch quests and riddles? Just going to guess now that we probably will.

i mean im still like on another plane of existence after getting to watch them but you know hahaha. i really can’t believe how everything fell in place for me! i mean from my class being cancelled so i could leave and get to the venue with time to buy my last minute ticket... and for that last minute ticket to even exist??? plus the fact that i got it? and that it was a P2 seat right in front of the extended stage? i mean idk i just wow thank you universe ily

but oh my god everyone says they somehow look better in person and i was like how is that possible??? but it really is possible and i can’t believe how good they look aksjgdkjasjagds

and they sound sooooooo good oh my god. okay i wont lie... like last time i was a lil skeptical about whether they actually sound that good live but the answer is yes they do and im sorry i ever doubted them! the vocal line shined in their performance of truth untold like each and every one of them killed it. jungkook’s adlibs were so beautiful i wanted to cry. also rap line killed it during outro: tear like i lost my voice just screaming the chorus part. it was soooo hype

K I M  S E O K J I N is a king. he has the voice of an angel and man oh man is he handsome. so so handsome. he looks like he belongs in a movie when he’s performing epiphany. he nailed the high notes and his performance just took my breath away. oh and i love it when he goes ham during so what and starts dancing all crazy hahaha. also also him in truth untold... his vocals... his ability to project his voice is a big WOW.

yoongi... oh mr yoongo. wow seesaw in person was wow!!! he looked so in his element, so comfortable on stage and the choreo for the song??? the choreo! plus you know the benches! and his singing voice! i know people talk smack about his seesaw outfit but i actually really like it haha and he just looked so good in person. also in his ending ment he said: chicago... it’s the windy city right? but why is it so hot in here? skajhdskhdka 

jungkook my sweet baby boy (’: he looked so happy on stage and he just looked like he was genuinely having a good time. his voice sounds higher irl? i was pleasantly surprised haha. also i totally get what that lady on king of masked singer felt like when she heard jk sang bc i got goosies when he did those ad libs in truth untold. anyway he’s so handsome and his smile makes me want to astral project myself to a whole other universe. i love him sm )’:

Okay first off idk how to make a read more on mobile...Second I need to VENT!!! So i have a lot of complicated feelings about mitski tbh like :

1. she’s sent my soul into an inescapable downward spiral of hellish proportions over the last two years but I digress...

2. She often mentions Kuala Lumpur in interviews and how she went to high school here for 3 years and it’s like i wanna feel a sense of kinship with her because we had our adolescences in the same place but at the same time I feel this intense misplaced sense of jealousy towards her because she had US citizenship all the while and got to move to New York to pursue her dreams and me and my third world ass literally could never...like we’re similar but wildly different, but also her songs feel like she’s speaking about me directly? idk I’ve always had “”white”” interests and couldn’t relate to my peers so listening to her talk and sing feels like a psychic attack on my soul and my brand LOL because her music deals heavily with topics like that

3. Puberty 2 like caught me completely off guard before I started med school. I had never even heard of her at that point in time, and I had just lost my grandfather (whom I’d been taking care of for 5 years and I feel like he was the only person who would be actually happy to see me)...and I was already going through a really bad mental health period in 2016 so his death made things in my life explode in a pretty terrible way. My mother was super super close to him but she was overseas at the time so she couldn’t bury him...and that made her have like this yearlong bout of religious grandiosity and she took all crazy out on me because I’m closest to her among my siblings. And i guess I didn’t realise how much it was to deal with at the time (God was like: i know you’re starting med school but you need to deal with your mom’s mental illness in addition to yours...also you’ll develop 50000 unrequited crushes on guys at the same time because you haven’t spoken to a man in a year you homo NEET...). Starting med school rly did feel like going through puberty all over again I wish there was a less corny way to say that but it DID okay

4. Listening to that album amidst all that emotional turmoil (which in retrospect I shouldn’t have done) made me realise that I never got to like have a real proper adolescence because I never got to come out properly on my own terms, or even have any kind of sexual or romantic experience with someone else for that matter because I’m just really terrified of all that. Also it’s illegal to be a faggot here so there’s that. And even now I’m kind of just flailing about/stalling with regards to my personal growth/career+academic path because I’m in the midst of an identity crisis because I’m realising that becoming a doctor would feel like crumpling my soul and stuffing it into a box (tho i guess that isn’t unique to medicine #fuckcapitalism right) and I desperately want to find a way to express myself musically/artistically because I used to in the past but I had to give it up to please my family... fuck REPRESSION!!!

5. In high school I literally put myself on hold and was pretending like every single day of my life (but also...who wasn’t) and that obviously burnt me tf out so by the time I graduated I didn’t who tf I was or what I wanted to do. From then till now I’ve felt like I’ve been in a fog blindly groping around desperately trying to find myself lol....It was only until like this year where I’ve started to feel almost sure of myself in my own small way, which is why I’m taking a gap year so I can really just deal i guess! I know it’s been like literally half a decade and I should be over this but I literally can’t LOL! So that album unearthed a lot of old feelings about my own experiences and my lifelong obsession with getting to grow up in the US which is a stupid dream but also I’m a stupid bitch so...

6. Kind of unrelated my sister who is basically a cis and less crazy version of me got married last year and moved to London to be a doctor and get her masters and it literally felt like I got my hands chopped off because a) I’m stuck here with my parents where I can’t be myself in many many ways b) I’m being forced to accept some random man into my life that I barely know!!! {how do other ppl deal when their siblings get married i have no clue}, and my younger brother who is a fellow f*g left soon after too so I’m double all alone now but again I digress...

7. Finally (!) Seeing miss miyawaki gain this crazy cuckoo gigantic level of acclaim and popularity is making me feel so strange because I’ve slowly and unwittingly integrated her music as part of my identity over the past 2 years but that’s my fault like who asked me to do all that!! Then again I guess a lot of ppl feel this way when something they like gets big wtv I’ll get over it I hope. Also I wonder what it’s like for her too tbh having random ppl like me live their whole life stories through her art...

Anyway idk why but I’ve never felt this way and this intensely for this long about an artist in my life and I’m lowkey starting to resent her in a weird complicated way and that’s really sad to me...Anyway #2 I like 1000% need to go to therapy and need to stop comparing myself to other people especially my idols + projecting my faggy problems onto them 😔❣️(and i really need to stop living in the past but it’s hard) Anyway #3 I wish I could transition too but I feel like I’m a very long way from that

hey! my reply's a bit lengthy so i put a cut. damn do i like to talk A LOT.

yeah me too actually. i'm already over my opm phase but that song just gave me butterflies every time i heard it. i'm so relieved that i was finally able to write something semi-inspired by it. what aura do i give off then? HAHSAJH rest assured i am filo ! when i was sending you asks i was just stopping myself from typing too many 'HAHAHSHAH's

oh there were a lot of things i wanted to change! but i never would've finished the fic if i still kept adding more and more to it. one of the most notable ones was the ending itself. i originally planned that mc would leave hyuck behind when she headed back to the city (ik, kind of a dick move) and the confrontation would be back at seoul instead of at the diner? and they'd be talking and clearing the ghosting up thing and jeno comes in and that's where hyuck realizes that oh, i'm too late huh? i feel like it could've been a better ending (still, to this day) but it was getting a little too hard to write? the deadline was coming up and that part of the story wasn't in the original outline so i crossed it out entirely. i'm so glad you're asking about the fic because i came semi-prepared and i have a mini-log of my writing process here. it's a word count tracker but with a lot of diary-like entries where i put my thoughts down as i progressed?

20k without being redundant? hmm. i don't know really and i don't do it intentionally. i review the fic a few times and try to nitpick redundant words/lines/dialogue and rephrase them. also, i had the fic beta-read by husna so i guess that helped too!

at some point the story started taking its own path, away from the events i initially inspired them from. most of it ended up being purely fiction and they have absolutely no correlation to real life but i'll try and pinpoint a few aspects that were still a bit linked. the major one is just catching feelings for one's bestfriend knowing damn well it won't be reciprocated. it happens to everyone i guess. to be more specific, as much as i love my irl bestfriend, my blood boils whenever i'm around him. a lot of mc's thoughts on donghyuck was just me projecting on to the fic. two, my irl's in a band too. three, mc and her running away is the solution to everything agenda. yep, that's definitely me irl. the part where she started avoiding hyuck because of her feelings? ME LOL. four, the part where hyuck started dating someone, that happened irl too. but i wasn't as sulky about it, i was more mad and in denial that i was hurt after finding out? five, i had a jeno but he didn't like me for three years lol. he was just there throughout the getting over phase and was the first person i called. he was in a band too, but unlike the fic, they were not in the same one. 'jeno' and i cut ties when 'hyuck' and i started patching things up after the fall out. i ultimately stuck with the original ending because it was the last thing i could do to bring the story back to its roots.

I started writing one of these earlier but scrapped it to close firefox while my internet was shitting itself, as if that has literally ever helped in the past. Cannot for the life of me remember what but this was hours ago so wtv.

I started leveling dancer today. Initially it was just so I could use an outfit I’d put together and I swore to myself that I wouldn’t actually level it right now. AST and SMN are nearly to 80, I’m supposed to be working on my DRG relic weapon too... but... man it is so fun to play. Also very pretty. My brain feels like much playing it it’s just pressing e then r then e then r the occasionally shift+e or shift+r and maybe throw a q or two in there after that. Or c and v for aoe. The point is it’s mind numbingly simple, barely anything to weave in but some defensive stuff, my one buff every once in a while, I get to do a little dance occasionally pressing the pretty glowing buttons.

Hm... I should take a picture. Oh! Of my new DRG glam too, though I don’t have a weapon picked out for either of them yet. DRG is going to use one of the relic weapons, which will take a bit and... I’ll probably settle on a dungeon weapon for DNC. Or perhaps the exarchic one, if I can afford it. Some of them look cool, others not so. But every time I see one of them my mind spits out the words “cum crystals” at me which I think I got from watching some streamer or other. A combination of Jabronimike and hearing, oddly enough, several streamers make jokes about JO crystals. It’s been embedded in my head since I first saw them, also the crystal wall in Amh Ahraeng. Cursed. I wonder if I can even enter gpose while in queue?

Okay I can. But I’ll do that later. I’m still weirdly self conscious.

It does make me kinda mad now when I don’t get comms... I find that with DNC I’m in a position to save people’s asses with my shield and heal, and I have the know-how of these dungeons to do it well, but do I get recognition for it? Well... occasionally. And then there are other times when all 3 party members without even giving a customary tyfp, and I assume without giving out any comms whatsoever. Complete nonsense, Unbelievably rude. Why does make me so angry when people don’t respond with the common courtesies... at least in that last one I did I did get a comm but still no wave back or anything in parting. Weird it’s happened so many times tonight.

It really is funny the amount of looks Doran gets. Especially since... those are just the people making a show of having their characters heads turn towards him. I don’t really ever go that far though I will stop in my tracks to oggle pretty people, or literally any midlanders that don’t use the Ardbert face. It’s easy enough to stand off behind or to the side and swing your camera around after all. I like the attention, alright? That I made a hyur guy that looks at least sort of interesting. Also that I am projecting onto him increasingly now. I think I decided not long after making him that Doran would be nonbinary, using he/they to go with Secret’s she/they... which I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned. Secret was gnc, but with Doran I took it a step further, as I’ve explained having figured out how to make outfits, and also unabashedly using popular casual market items now.

wtf the dancer questline is great..... EVIL DANCE SPIRITS? what is even happening. I love the instructor lady and how Doran and Ranaa shared those looks of confusion. Also they accidentally have the same hair and wear the same shirt (when Ranaa’s in casual wear) I swear I didn’t know what she looked like before making the outfit. Nashmeira might actually be the first midlander woman I like in this game????

The fantasy racism still sucks ass though why does the game treat the Duskwights so bad. They weren’t doing anything wrong but getting possessed by a dancing evil spirit orb they literally didn’t hurt anyone or do anything. Why should they turn them over to authorities???? Everyone’s all, oh those trouble making Duskwights, surely meaning to harm us and cause a ruckus and all. Always thieving and pillaging and whatever the fuck else as if I haven’t seen both the archer and lancer questlines. that one dude was driven to thievery and eventually madness and what might as well have been suicide because of gridania’s systematic racism and thus inability to find work or create a stable life. like. they were explicit about this. i fucking hate these writers sometimes they’re so dismissive, in this and other things including a more recently addressed controversy which i will not get into at the moment.

Hm yes that makes complete sense. Collective dread from war manifests in aether and results in people dancing for some reason. What the fuck game? I thought this was gonna be something cool but this is stupid. ??? Causing them to trample kids and tearing off their own limbs????? Who wrote this shit what. It. Didn’t afflict a single soul in Eorzea before now because literally not a single soul had the time to dwell on what had happened. I take back whatever positive thing I said before this is fucking terrible.

oh jesus CHRIST why didn’t i get a screenshot of that. there was a lookalike of the twins’ dad called “Disowning Father” he bolted away as soon as he teleported in however. super unfortunate. the reveal was recent enough that he was still a sprout scholar getting started.

hi, Tae. um.. bit of a weird question.

i met this guy yesterday and he's really nice. we kind of teamed up with him and his friend for our project, so we naturally all exchanged facebooks. not at first, though. yo know how shy i get and my partner had to leave for a while, so i didn't wanna be all up his and his friend's faces. at one point, i stood up to see them work and he kept offering me to sit. he was wearing all black. a cutie. it was only when my friend came back that she asked for their facebooks and we joked around a bit. this girl came up with her little gang at the end, though and idk.. she seemed jealous (his relationship status says single) and her friend was trying to tell the prof to let them work on the we were working on. i??? it was just obvious she wanted us out the picture so i'm like fukc it, it's not like i know which one (me or my friend) is his type anyway.

today, though, i noticed he showed more interest in me than her. he texted me in the morning to say he was coming. he wouldn't let me touch anything alone! like.. he kept finding ways to help me: filling in the tubes with me, washing the little sponge we used to clean up for me.. he also kept directing his remarks to me every time he could've addressed either one of us (even when i was across the room and she was next to him). the best part was when i stepped out for a bit and left him alone with her. i came back to find out he'd told her he noticed this and that about me. i just went in and took a seat as far away from him as possible and he like.. blinked at her and pointed at me. i was "???" and he goes "you speak Korean?" and starts telling me i resemble East Asians. i just smiled (you know how i hear that every day) and he looks at me and goes "she got shy" with the cutest smile!! CALL THE COPS ON THIS MAN. he asked if i watched animes and do i know the meaning of "onesama." i wasn't sure but i said it meant sister, to my knowledge. he thought it means something like "dear son." how do i put this? he's not IN YO FACE flirty. he's nice flirty. it's a. my type, but b. hard to tell apart from just being a decent human. the girl kept her watch on him at all time today, which was pitiful at best. i didn't do anything to piss her off even more or wtv. i don't do that shit, even though she annoyed me lol. apparently i had no reason to get annoyed bc mans walked by me when i was standing under a fire extinguisher and told me to be careful not to hit my head. MINUTES AFTER, he saw me picking up NaOH with my bare fingers and calmly scholared me. listen.. a bithc was swoon.

i couldn't get him out my head when i came home. i looked up the meaning of "onesama" and screenshot it to send to my friend. then i thought it would make a good icebreaker so i went for it. which is when he threw a "thanks onesama" at my throat. MANS SISTERZONED ME.

Yugioh Ep 34 S4: The Boys (and Mai) are Back in Town

OK, back to the writing table! It’s been a while! So I made the mistake of like...scrolling down on the playlist when I realized...

This duel is like 6 episodes long (7 even? It’s a lot) and like...yo I have no idea if we’ll finish this season in 2020! Damn you 2020. Damn you.

But wtv, what I like about this side project of mine is that I don’t have to rush things, and I can really spend the time with each episode and just...enjoy the moment. So often I watch a whole series in like half a week and then it’s like...I don’t get to enjoy it. This series I’ve enjoyed for years now. That’s kinda neat. So...we’re gonna be slow...but lets just enjoy this weird ass anime moment together. 2020 deadlines are all fake anyway. I’m not even sure if 2020 was a real thing that happened or like...an alternate universe opening a door and letting through just so many terrible ghosts. We might never know.

Last we left off, everyone has decided to hallucinate Dartz’ terrible backstory.

Unfortunately we have NO darts in the past. Was really hoping to see at least one darts reference in this entire season, just one darts board on his wall. But alas, we will not have a Season Zero death darts match with Dartz. (Man I need to get back to Season Zero. And FMA. And a lot of things)

I feel like if I watched the original version there would have been some things different. First off...what ocean? Second off...well, we’ll get to that. There’s some things I think were changed for English TV.

Including censoring the nude people like it’s James Cameron’s Avatar.

Fun fact did you know that James Cameron’s Avatar was supposed to be ass naked and that they were supposed to have like 8 cat nipples? Yeah.

Man, that movie was a mistake. I’m so glad we all decided to collectively forget James Cameron’s Avatar.

The actual locations of anything in Atlantis does not match up with it when it’s zoomed out. We have giant cities, we have sprawling wheat fields, and we have...THIS situation. This active volcano next to...pine trees?

I feel like they wanted it to feel vaguely Pompeii, since I know people like to put Atlantis in the Mediterranean. Maybe? Maybe that’s what they were going for here?

One of my top ten favorite Yugioh plot twists ever was finding out this episode that this snake who has no limbs somehow created these...rocks...that all of our main characters have been wearing and obsessing over this entire time.

And so this is my theory, this is the thesis of my Yugioh college paper. These rocks are turds. There’s no way these rocks aren’t turds. There’s no way this snake didn’t poop out a bunch of glowy magic stones and then stuff them into a volcano.

THE ROCKS WERE TURDS THE WHOLE TIME.

Seto spends this entire episode groveling that he isn’t playing cards that will absolutely kill him. Like Mokuba, Seto isn’t happy until he’s cheating death.

(I really wish we got more super past future tech. I love that type of concept art. Instead, we just got a lot of flying boats--the same boat that I think the team flew on in S1 when they went to Seto’s video game universe.

So those boats are 10,000 years old? They existed in the 10,000 year old Pangea, huh?

Anyway, lets take a gander at Princess Zelda circa Ocarina of Time.

SUPER princess Zelda, and I know it’s not 1:1 but damn it feels so much like a late 90′s Princess Zelda outfit to me. Check out that PURPLE. That low poly circlet. The random ass sword. The thick ass belt.

Yo so this is a 00′s thing, a period of time where we liked to tell stories like LOST, with just a bunch of random ass plot twists in flashbacks instead of just...telling a story from start to finish. And can be a great and fun way to do it--but at the sacrifice of actually making me care about these characters while they were still alive.

Like I would have maybe cared about Chris and Ironheart dying if I had known that Dartz was killing his whole family? With...lightning strikes? But alas, these dumbasses decided NOT to tell us they were royal. It’s so strange both from a logical perspective and a storytelling perspective.

Man...missed opportunity, IMO, but I can see why they did it. The wanted the ‘Gotcha!’ I feel ambivalent about it, honestly.

And who am I kidding, people are still doing unpredictable plot twists this. It’s a way to tell a story. Is it the most impactful way? No. It’s...it’s a gotcha!

It’s at this point in the story that things start ramping up, but it’s not clear if it takes place over years or just a couple hours. People just start going a little cray and turning into Monsters.

Straight up, though--did they turn into monsters that already existed and are modern Duel Monster cards, or are the monsters from modern Duel Monsters cards actually descendants of Atlantis who were once human?

They don’t say, actually. Maybe...maybe every card was a human once. That would be a freakin weird Yugioh twist if Kuriboh was like a 45 year old dude.

PS Dartz was married...soak that in.

ROMANCE ON YUGIOH ALERT.

Love it every time. She was there for like...half a second, and Dartz was like throwing so much shade about how “only the people with evil in their hearts were turned” and it’s like...

...dude that’s your wife? OK then. I can see you guys got along real well.

Anyway, so long to the ship of IonaxDartz, you were here for even less than the amount of time that Seto dated Blue Eyes White Dragon in a hallucination, which kind of sets a new record for us.

This might be the shortest-lived ship in all of Yugioh and they have a 12 year old daughter and what I assume was a 12 year marriage for that entire time.

that is if they...HAD the concept of marriage 10,000 years ago on Atlantis Pangea island. Maybe?

I mean they might have not had the concept of dating and marriage yet because he gets over this like immediately. The show will never hover back to that time Dartz watched his own wife turn into a creature. We have no idea if he was like “OK honey lets uh...let just get you a haircut and maybe no one will notice?” We have no idea how long he was desperately trying to remain married to the beast that was no longer human and was also trying to eat everyone else in his court. We just don’t know.

Dartz just had a lot of other things to think about. He’s been King for like...a year...he’s only 21...he’s just doing a bad job at everything.

Anyway, Dad is here, but it’s a little too late to really do anything with the situation. Everyone is worshiping little snake turds. What can you really do about that?

One eye golden, the other eye, the color of a glistening Leviathan turd.

After the rest of the surviving royal family was chased out of the castle, Dartz decides to just wave his hands around a lot.

I’m not entirely sure what Kings do...never really had one...but I think they’re supposed to do more than wave their hands at a crowd like the Pope. Like...everyone’s dead right? Like everyone?

Who’s he talking to?

Meanwhile, Chris and Ironheart decide to revive some monster tablets to get some real actual duel monsters to do their bidding.

So apparently some monsters are in the tablets, and other’s have just always been here...and...

They didn’t know violence but they did have the cards?

There’s a lot of vague stuff they didn’t feel like ever writing, because it would have probably been boring to write about. I guess we’ll just let our imagination fill in the rest and ignore all the inconsistencies. It’s a kid’s anime. well........kind of a kid’s anime. A lot of people have died this episode and I don’t even know how to add it to the death count.

How many people live in Atlantis? I dunno.

Are the inhabitants of Atlantis even dead, or are they just turned into Monster cards? I dunno. Clearly the Great Leviathan wasn’t awoken this first battle so...did all those souls get returned? I dunno.

Either way I’m not gonna bother the death count about it because I just do not know if they died, and since it was neither an implied death or an on screen death...I dunno.

Just feels like a bit of a translation snafu--where maybe they couldn’t kill that many people on English TV, so they were like “AND IT’S A DRAW!” but also...it could be canon to both versions. The leviathan didn’t work the first time, maybe no one died? I dunno.

In this shot, PS, Raphael just gently backs up out of this flying plane, and it looked really funny to me. I probs won’t cap it because it’s split between two other cuts, but just...they just kind of moved that sprite to the right really slowly, no animation, it was great.

Dartz decides to end the backstory hallucination, and we get introduced to a new twist--a better twist than that last one, that’s right, all our boys are cards!

Yes, I looked back to earlier episodes this season to see what was going on with Pegasus’ new look. I think what happened is that it’s always been this shade of gray purple--but when you put purple next to it’s opposing color (which is yellow colors) it looks even MORE purple. It’s just how color works. Love color theory. mm. Good stuff. Good purple hair.

I can’t wait until Yami kills Yugi for the 3rd time in one season.

Yugioh S4 Ep 23: Roland Freaks Out for 25 Straight Minutes

Oh man, took a break from the blog for a bit there because I gave myself a project to do that is 160ish color panels to draw by June 30th and um...it takes a while to do that, it turns out. Every time I’m like “wow I actually have enough time to make a buffer for the blog” I get so distracted.

But anyways, I started having some issues with my wacom tablet, my mouse is a nightmare, and so...I’m just gonna look the other way and write a recap and unplug all of the wacom stuff and just stay the hell away from whatever happened to that...tablet.

maybe It’ll be fine tomorrow?

Thank God I didn’t buy a cintique, that’s all I’ll say. 

Anyway, lets go back to Yugioh. Where were we?

That’s right. Mokuba is checking in with my favorite Kaiba, Roland, who is currently just trying to keep the company running while the official Kaibas are flying to California.

And I’ll be honest, as I was typing this I thought “and why are they going to California again?” and it took me like...10 minutes to remember that Seto dropped absolutely everything and jumped on this massive plane in order to beat Rafael at cards to win the title “King of Games” which...Yugi had already lost to Rebecca about 2 years ago prior, but don’t tell that to Seto. Or Rebecca.

Also don’t tell Seto that the “King of Games” title originally comes from being possessed by a very emo ghost that has a tendency to set people on fire with Russian whiskey and has nothing to do with whatever shenanigans went down with Pegasus.

Honestly, I like to think that in the modern version of this show, Pegasus threw the “King of Games” line out there as like a corny joke, and when the teenagers started latching onto it like it was real, he was like “Oh what?” and left it alone because he just got his left eye ripped out of his face and was very distracted by the large amount of cultists in his basement that he suddenly needed to let go.

But youknow it’s the end of the world, Kaiba’s company is being bought out by a competitor, one of Dartz’ assassins are trying to kill both him and his brother, but he has to go to California immediately to play Rafael while he has the chance. Not sure how Alister got the tip-off that Kaiba would be flying back to California so quickly, but knowing the Kaibas, they probably jump on a plane several times a week.

I’m just still baffled that Mokuba’s doing this over a cell phone. That he was like “I better call someone.” and instead of calling the Airline or the Coastguard he’s like “I’ll call Roland💗”

I’m pretty sure Roland saw that phone ringing with Mokuba in the callerID and was like “NO NO NO NO NO”

Luckily for Roland, everyone at Kaiba corp has to learn how to fly planes in order to pass the entry exam.

For reals though, that plane just casually bumped off a mountain like it’s in Diddy Kong Racing.

There’s a lot of levels of brother’s saving brothers in this episode. You have Seto who thinks he’s saving Mokuba, but in fact it is Mokuba saving Seto by keeping this plane afloat. And then in reality, you can take another brother step backward and say it was Roland who was saving Mokuba who was saving Seto by giving the phone to that rando, and take even another step backward and say it was this Random Guy who was saving Roland who was saving Mokuba who was saving Seto.

So in reality, no brothers were really able to save eachother, it was actually that one secretary at the desk who screamed “JUST PULL THE LEVER HARDER, I DUNNO” until it worked.

But just remember that the theme of this episode is brothers saving brothers, although Mokuba is too small to really fly this plane, and Seto is too crazy to stop this duel and Roland is not really the secret inept heir of the Kaiba bloodline, and only in my little headcanon.

And also, I just have no idea who that random secretary is.

How many guns do you need on a tank?

Like I...

That is a hilarious amount of guns on this tank.

Like every character designer part of me is dying right now. It’s when you’re learning Maya, and you finally figure out the duplicate tool, and you just--you just strap a billion guns on a spaceship. We’ve all done this.

But like...this gunship has a face, and that face has it’s own tiny Oricalchos.

All I’m saying is that Alister is having a hell of a time in his Maya 101 class he takes at the local community college when he’s not busy working for Kaiba Corp Airlines or busy killing people for Dartz. I want to know what grade he got on this project, because in my Maya classes the only people who were this dedicated were building weird ass warships for their games or building intense 3D My Little Pony fanfic.

Here’s a list I can think of from the top of my head of challenges Seto Kaiba either quit or completely failed outright (basically the times Seto has NOPEd out or been forcibly kicked out):

-Joey Wheeler’s many challenges and also Spanish Class (as mentioned above)

-Beating Yugi in a card game

-Not joining Pegasus’ tourney initially so he could go on a vacation.

-We’ll just assume he’s only taken like a bunch of random college classes but only got an honorary degree

-Chess (like he was a Grand Master at one point but wtv, cards exist now)

-Didn’t arrest the Big Five or remove them from his mmo so they freakin died in there.

-Being the actual owner of the Millennium Rod

-Every time Yami tells him that they should be friends

-That whole story line where he was dating a dragon in a past life

-fulfilling that prophecy of killing Yami in the present timeline to end the world

-attempting to blow up his own battle city tournament before it was over because he didn’t win

-Getting all 3 Godcards

-When a possessed Tristan appeared over a mountain top to duel everyone and Seto just went “I’m out” and simply walked away

-Flying a blimp from point A to point B without it setting on fire

-Getting his Dad to build an amusement park

-Just anything to do with Noah

-the existence of magic in general

-every attempt he’s had to rebrand Kaiba Corp as “funtime games inc I swear we don't make tanks anymore, stop looking at all the tanks”

-Seto Kaiba’s entire Destiny storyline this season that he has gone way out of his way to get away from.

And like I’m sure there’s more, but I feel like half of Kaiba’s MO is that he is either Too Good To Bother With This or he has Lost Everything Very Dramatically. Mokuba at least has the right idea, by being one of the few people who has beaten Yugi Muto by peacing out halfway through the duel and stealing all Yugi’s stuff off of Yugi’s side of the table.

Anyway, despite it being like...5 seconds since we saw Roland in a weird cyber room in what I assume was Japan, we now see him with his head pressed against the glass of this helicopter being like “BOYS NO NOT AGAIN WHY”

And youknow, Roland was just trying to do the right thing, but he accidentally made things a million times worse by just showing up.

And so Alister was like “well I better crash the plane now with this gust of green energy that destroys all mechanical equipment.”

Really not sure how Alister was planning to leave this plane after this duel was over. I don’t know if he thinks that far ahead.

this isn’t even a joke I made up, Roland really did run up to the pilot and was like “Just throw down some ladders! That should work!” and it’s like...Do you not see the giant ship covered in a thousand guns right now, Roland?

And then Alister and Seto decide to have a fight about ethics where they’re both pretty wrong.

I mean it’s not the exact line but yes this is basically what Seto said, point blank, and I was like “well...at least he owns it.”

So cards happen, dragons get played (so MANY dragons) and because we had to end this arc, Alister loses the duel as we kind of knew he would.

And then Mokuba, because he knows no other life, sees an asshole older brother in pain and just wants to adopt him.

Enjoy that trauma tossed onto your already megalith sized trauma pile, Mokuba.

Elsewhere, the legendary dragons have started syncing again, which is a weird thing that they can do that none of these guys have any control of.

Mostly it just irritates whoever is holding these cards at the time.

But behold! the glory!

The glory of three tubby dragons wielding a plane!

It’s what Kaiba always wanted but he had absolutely no idea he was doing it. Will anyone tell him that he managed to summon three dragons to fly him around the sky like a mamma bird? No. No one bothers to tell him that his wildest dreams just came true.

FYI There were other stills of more of the dragons and the plane, but I kept pausing on instances where it kinda looked like they were humping the plane so I gave up.

But, at least we all get to meet up, around the smoke coming out the back of this giant plane that now...will just sit here...until someone sues KaibaCorp over it, I guess.

Like a soccermom, now Roland gets to give the whole frenemy crew a ride with...copters or whatever.

I dont’ know how Roland got here, y’all.

This happens a lot with animated shows, youknow, there’s a lot of plot threads, a lot of scenes and episodes that get freelanced out and outsourced, and people who make these shows aren’t working on the whole thing at once, they’re just going off of director notes--so there’s a good chance they had no idea that Roland...just shouldn’t be here.

But it’s OK, I enjoy whenever Roland is panicking in the background. He’s good set dressing.

Seto does not give any more explanation of this corpse.

And then, sprinting as fast as he could out of his copter comes Roland, who does what Roland does best. It’s this moment where you would usually see a parental figure reveal how much they care and adore their little children. But because it’s Roland, and these are the Kaibas, he instead takes this moment to reveal exactly how inept he is at the very last second.

Never change, Roland. I love this massive green haired disappointment.

Anyway, I’m not sure when I’ll get the next update out, since I’ll be knee deep in drawing art I don’t need to draw, but just know I’m not dead. Usually I post fanart or whatever, but all I have is this Dartz I started drawing but he just has so much hair that I don’t think that one will ever get even remotely finished.
