Now that season 2 of good omens is only about a month away and everyone waiting has already watched season 1 and read the book multiple times, may I suggest something to tide you over while waiting:

When the Angels Left the Old Country by Sacha Lamb! Featuring an angel and a demon best-friend pair going on a trip together and being very confused by humans and their weird ways! It is very good!

The general tone is pretty humorous and light-hearted, the characters are fun, the mythology is fun, it’s all very jewish and very queer but light on romance (there’s an f/f subplot though!). The plot is less apocalyptic than Good Omens (they’re looking for a missing girl, not trying to stop armageddon) but equally as engaging.

In short: read When the Angels Left the Old Country, please, I beg of you, it deserves so much love

I think. kids who aren't allowed to rebel or behave out of line get filled with such an innate fear of going against the rules that they become the unobtrusive child - and then they hit a point where they just. can't take it anymore and rebel anyway because they're only human, except now they're not 9 years old anymore and their actions really matter but their brain won't cooperate with them because it's exhausted and it needs freedom and now they're stuck

i think I remember you once pointed out that cheating on your osg is like the one and only thing that can get fandom to dislike a white male woobie character because they’ll forgive anything including abusing your osg but they draw the line at cheating and idk the daemon/nettles discourse reminded me of this like people will forgive daemon murdering rhea and strangling rhaenyra but they’re like oh no don’t make him cheat. although with him strangling rhaenyra I did see a lot of oh he would never do that to her, (which like he’s been grooming her since she was a child what are you on about?) but I still think people are more forgiving of that than the cheating

this ask is really well-timed because recently I've been thinking about one of the reasons this attitude REALLY irks me.

see, I'm more than fine with considering cheating unforgivable. it is an awful, awful thing to do to someone who thinks of you as a partner. it's obviously a targeted attack on their self-esteem and will impair their ability to trust, as unfair as that fucking is (they are NOT the ones that should feel shame in this scenario!). it's also a huge violation of consent. say you've been married for ten years. they've cheated on you for half of those. in the meantime, have you bought a house with this person? (and would you have chosen to, if you'd found out they slept with someone else?) have you had children with this person (and would you have chosen to, if... you get the gist). and part of that violation of consent involves the fact that, by doing this, they're even recklessly risking their partner's physical health (maybe it's just me, but I don't trust people like this to be the most trustworthy when it comes to safe sex, especially with a long-term affair).

but... these are not the reasons behind fandom's typically harder stance against infidelity. instead, they get Big Mad because *checks notes* they think it makes their guy look baaaaaaad, and flaky and shallow and inconsistent and and and.

give me a fucking break.
