i think reading these made me realize exactly why i liked all the Arven stuff in Scarlet and Violet so much. every once in a while i've seen people say that the last scene of the Area Zero plot was way too abrupt and cheerful after the final confrontation with the professor, but i never really agreed with that. i guess that i didn't think that the hopeful tone of the ending overshadowed the sadder parts- they just kind of coexisted

and i believe the epilogue really proved that-- as the Twitter user said, "there's no way anything can be done in a short amount of time," causing him to still have issues like jealousy and possessiveness in spite of his "happy ending." it's true that the epilogue plays it mostly for comedy, but i don't think that changes the fact that Arven's anxiety over the protagonist having a new friend was extremely realistic, and made a ton of sense considering his backstory- again, "sincerity about the seriousness of the problem"

there's still a lot of sorrow there, but it doesn't mean Arven can never find happiness. i think that's a pretty sweet message, and an especially important one to impart to children (who are, yes, still the target audience of Pokemon lol)

I was going to draw the crown too but decided I don't hate myself that much(maybe some other day), and gave him a golden laurel crown, bcs I'm obsessed with that as a motif, and also its very remincient of the boy king statue that started this whole thing!

There's some symbolism of this, both intentionally but also just historically. I love that the orb represents that the monarch is holding the world in their hand, basically every old monarchy has one of those, and I think it's very cool for symbolism. But also bcs of that, I was forced to basically draw catholic fanart so, you win some you lose some. The star halo above him head is both to reference those religious statues with star crowns(I saw them a lot in Europe and they imprinted onto my brain), as well as: his four championships of course!

Blue Bouquet Ep 1 Very Basic Summary

Klarkstella and Louterstella notice that there's something strange about the movements of the stars above the Blue Continent. They agree that something big is going to happen soon.

Cielomort is shown talking to someone, asking for their cooperation with his goal of "minna nakayoshi" (everyone getting along).

Kurode is new to the Kuromi Kingdom, having just run away from the Red Continent. He buys some rakkyou (chinese scallions) from a vendor, and gives his to a child who has his knocked to the ground by someone trying to get to the Kuromi Kingdom's castle.

Myunna appears and pulls Kurode along to join Kuromi's knight test. It's literally a test to become Kuromi's Fragaria. Myunna thinks Kurode would make a good knight after seeing him confront the man that knocked over the earlier child.

The first test is to strike a "cool pose". Kurode is astounded by how insignificant the test seems. Willmesh (in a hood) and Myunna (forced to partake) also pass.

The second test is to "find Kuromi while playing Daruma-san ga koronda". It's like Red Light Green Light. People who don't stop get hit by a "biri-biri beam". Only one person can find Kuromi and win.

Kurode happens to find a Kuromi plushie while searching around for someone that can help the earlier man who was hit by the beam. It turns out that plushie was left by mistake, and Willmesh found the right one, so both of them pass as a result.

The contestants who failed leave the castle, where a Seeds is attacking people. Myunna goes towards the ruckus.

The final test is Kurode and Willmesh trying to steal a badge from each other. Willmesh seems to be able to completely hide himself from Kurode's vision, and pop out to try and grab his badge. Willmesh says that he believes a knight should be capable of protecting their "loved one" by any means (or something along those lines).

Kurode notices the commotion and hears Myunna. He takes his badge off and throws it at Willmesh, saying that he would be better at protecting Kuromi while he deals with the Seeds, even if he's frustrated at losing the competition as a result.

Outside, Kurode saves Myunna from the Seeds. Myunna hasn't been able to get close to the Seeds to purify it, but with Kurode picking him up and taking the brunt of the attacks, Myunna is able to purify the Seeds.

After all that, Kurode is getting ready to depart the Kuromi Kingdom when Willmesh approaches them with a letter from Kuromi informing Kurode that he passed the knight exam, rather than Willmesh.

Klarkstella and Louterstella encounter Cielomort in the Little Twin Stars Kingdom, and aren't very happy to see him. Cielomort asks them to tell him what they know about what's to come (or something like that).

cora’s bad time hell simulation steps or how to play “sprite station for girl” “harvest moon ds cute” the wrong way

ok so here’s what my disorganized “guide” to myself for harvest moon ds for girl (aka indecipherable notes i wrote to myself as i played and revised as i tested various things and restarted due to mistakes) looks like. at some point when i become a real gamer i will write a legible guide meant for eyes to look at but uhhh this is how i play this accursed game personally

i’m not sure if anything i wrote will make any sense since i wrote it as notes to myself so probably definitely use fogu and fc2 jonason wiki (may not work but some pages should be archived) instead

ALSO if you’ve never played or barely played the game it won’t make sense at all! hmds was my first harvest moon so i am used to various horrors!

my play style is probably not fun in general HOWEVER if you are a grinding hell goblin like me then it’s GREAT!!!! if not you may still find it amusing that the game gives you permission to play like this

(it’s a great background task game while doing like productive stuff but otherwise playing this way would probably be unbearable)

anyway after that the days go a lot faster, you’ll get the island on summer 1, so on spring 30 i put all my money into million G tickets and sell 200 of em, do the 5x money thing, and save the rest. so when thomas comes the next day to sell you the 900 million G island you can just sell 180 tickets and do the 5x money thing again with like ~600 million G tickets left over. it takes up inventory but you’ll get the shelf in a few days. basically you just need to remember to order from the TV shopping every saturday and place orders with gotz and gray whenever they finish stuff.

random tips

after unlocking the fuckass hot spring sprites (the ones that require you to spend a total of 700 1 hour sessions in the hot springs) i usually grind grazing points— if you put your animals outside for 5 hours you get a “Love Point”, but if you interact with them after they earn that LP then the timer switches over and you can get another LP after 5 more hours. if you wear the time ring the whole time it’s 2.5 hours. i’m not very good at explaining this but basically if you’re super efficient you can get way more animal LP than you realistically should, which is great because the touch glove petting minigame is Bad!!!!

i usually wait on getting the rest of the purple sprites (the ones that require you to hire the purple team and ask for healing) until i’m totally done with the indigo team, cuz i wanna get HG’s purple heart event asap, but you can switch the order if you want

by summer y1 you’ll basically have a feel for everything. aside from Skye, Leia, HG and WP everyone can be married early-mid autumn if you want

if you want to Gay (in the japanese version only) keira is the quickest to marry. leia is the quickest to max affection but it’s impossible to get leia year 1 because the bottle you need to fish up can only be caught in spring. you have to wait until at least year 5 for WP and iirc year 6 for HG.
