throw back to that time someone on my fyp said luke was 100% wrong and there was absolutely nothing right about what he did solely on the basis that he wasn't a good person

God I wish I could remember what Oda once said about mothers in One Piece... I can't remember if it was about Luffy's mother in particular or moms in general, but he essentially joked about how you'd have to be A Really Horrible Mother to allow your child to go off and become a pirate (dangerous business no loving mother would allow)
And just... My vague memory of that comment is living in my head right now, because truly, if Crocodile somehow is Luffy's mom, truly nothing would make him a worse mom than
Literally trying to murder his child and beating him to near death multiple times the first time they actually meet
Going so far to stop being a mom that he became a dad instead

Imagine this:
Ted is a 1930s serial killer who has been skipping towns after murdering his victims. However, he gets sloppy and when he's burying his latest victim (a man who was known for being… touchy with several women) he hears a tiny “hello!” and he sees a four-year-old Nicky approaching him wide-eyed, innocent and curious! Ted plasters on his biggest ‘I'm a good person!’ grin and tries to subtly shoo Nicky away like he's a dog going “run along now your mummy and daddy are probably worried” and Nicky flat out states “They’re gone…” but he doesn't elaborate! Nicky does get rather dirty and Ted gets a genius but not very legal plan. He takes Nicky back to the hotel where he is staying and well... Kidnapps him. Taking Nicky back with him to the big city where Ted lives and works (he's a radio show host) but he doesn't tell Nicky that he's never going back home and tried to get the help of Diane (whose a singer at a bar and a exstremely good friend of his) to raise Nicky and give him pointers of what to do since he's never had a child and isn't married! Ted figures he is going to give a few white lies about Nicky and where he is from before dumping him in a field somewhere later and wait for someone to get him. However, he ends up revealing to much of himself to Nicky so that plan goes out the window and well… ted gets a little to attached to Nicky
Feelings are a bitch, huh?
*sarcastically* this is totalllllly not based of a fanfic a read about hazbin hotel!

Some people: Kaeya’s bio father is an abusive monster who abandoned his son in order to achieve his own selfish goals. He is an evil man who deserves everything awful that might happen to him.
Other people: Kaeya’s bio father did the right thing and leaving Kaeya in Mondstadt was the only way to give him a halfway-decent life. He is a better father than he is given credit for and should not be as hated as he is.
Me: Kaeya’s bio father is integral to the general ‘war is hell and bad choices can reverberate across time’ thing that Genshin seems to be going for. He made unethical choices, but mostly because the ONLY OPTIONS HE HAD WERE UNETHICAL. If our understanding of the Alberich’s role in Khaenri’ah is accurate, General Alberich (my name for him until stated otherwise) was suddenly in charge of a hopeless and dead kingdom which begged to be saved. Assuming that there was a reason Kaeya specifically was chosen for this mission, General Alberich was forced into a position where he needed to choose between the lives/future of every Khaenri’an vs the life and future of his young son. Abandoning either is an awful thing to do and a horrible decision, but the bad decisions of Celestia and Rhinedottir have led to a scenario where General Alberich can only make bad decisions. In the end, he chose to prioritize his people and made his young son into a spy. We do not know the process for this, but knowing how much Hoyoverse loves to torment people (especially Khaenri’ans) we can assume that this process was horrific for Kaeya and could definitely be considered abuse. General Alberich is effectively making his son into a child soldier for a war that the majority of people never wanted or asked for, and one Kaeya was likely far too young to understand. At least, until he was forced to grow up far too quickly in order to fulfill his duty. General Alberich likely loathed everything about what was happening and even in his last moments with his son he asks for forgiveness. He knows that what he is doing is wrong, but to turn back now is to both abandon his subjects and make everything that happened to Kaeya in order to turn him into a child spy be for nothing. So yeah, General Alberich is a terrible person who made horrible choices. But war and the bad actions of others have created a situation where he has nothing BUT horrible choices and where being a terrible person is the only thing he can be. And that’s without considering how the curse/abyssal corruption could impact the scenario.

Jason Todd can either keep fighting Bruce for his daddy issues or continue projecting is mommy issues on him. He can’t have both. He needs to chose one!

if i did a reread of the walking dead and wrote an essay on how aegon ii and carl are doomed to be the last man standing by their narratives, and what starts out as a sort of cool & nifty super power of always surviving turns into this horrific curse where everyone they know is dying around them & sometimes it’s their fault & sometimes it’s not but either way they can’t ever stop it until they’re sitting at the ending with nothing but their lone daughter to protect but so broken they can no longer connect to her and then their story abruptly ends-
would that be like the Most stupid, nerdy thing i have ever done in my life or

objectively galen and saw were not bad fathers to jyn. yes they made decisions that hurt her but at the time they were doing what they thought was best for her. jyn has very complicated feelings toward both of them ( especially in saw's case because she doesn't know why he abandoned her until that meeting on jedha ) –– she hates them and is angry with them, but at the same time, loves them as well.

jacks would never have a child w chrysi obvi, but i think he’d not mind raising nyx or wren as his own… evil stepmom moment or w/e, but also, when he looks at those children, they don’t make him think of himself and he loves them so much for that. that said, he IS driving wren to the middle of the woods and trying to leave him there.
