Shouto's Birthday Headcanons (with a side of todoiideku)

- okay, so Shouto woke up to his dorm being completely decked out with party streamers and balloons (but not the nasty balloons that make the horrible sounds). He is really grateful, but since he hates his space being changed it does kind of make him uncomfortable (but he doesn't say anything, bc he is just happy he has friends/partners who care about him).

- Once he leaves his dorm he automatically goes down to the common area. It's a weekend so he slept in till like 11:30

- Once he gets down there, Tenya and Izuku have made him a birthday brunch. Tenya is still cooking it and Izuku is "supervising" (AKA just watching his cute boyfriend as he cooks).

- As soon as Izuku see's Shouto he goes up and hugs him, telling him happy birthday.

- After they eat they join a few of their other classmates who are playing games in the common area and just spend the rest of the afternoon hanging out.

- That evening the bakusquad is cooking dinner, and Bakugou decides that they should make Soba.

- After they eat Sato surprises Shouto with a cake and cupcakes he made.

- And of course at the end of the night Tenya and Izuku go up to his dorm with him for some birthday cuddles.

For day 4 of TodoIideku week 2022! Today’s prompt was Soulmate! Also, sorry for not doing anything for day three, I was super tired! Also, CW for abuse (It’s Endeavor being the worst, as usual.)

“Get back here this instant!”

“Enji, please just stop! He’s only a kid,”

“Dad stop!”

Voices, voices everywhere. They flew around the room and crowded Shoto’s mind. Enji was being the worst, as usual.

Shoto couldn’t even bring himself to look at anyone.

“I-I’m sorry, okay? I’m sorry!”

And with that, he ran out of the room. He could hear Fuyumi and his mother calling after him, but he didn't respond.

Shoto threw open the door to his room, rushed in, and locked the door behind him. He pried open the floorboards next to him, and felt around for a pen, eventually finding it.

With trembling hands, he scrawled out a message. Hopefully Izuku was awake, as Tenya was probably asleep.

Had an argument with dad. Can’t think straight. Need help.

A few seconds later, Izuku’s cute handwriting, illuminated in green, shinned across Shoto’s forearm.

I don’t know if this’ll help, but here goes nothing. Just keep calm, remember the breathing exercises I told you.

Shoto smiled.

Tenya’s neat handwriting, illuminated in blue, quickly glided across his skin, underneath Izuku’s words.

That asshole again? Jesus fucking Christ. I’m one step away from finding where you live and beating his ass.

Shoto chuckled at his soulmates words.

It was at this moment that he knew, that even if everything seemed hopeless and despairing, he could simply go to his paradise with a simple sentence on his arm.

TodoIiDeku, TodoIiIzuOcha.

Todoiideku is definitely one of my favourites, they are friends who draw strength from each other. Only issue I have with fanon TodoiiDeku is that it is kinda obvious that they don’t know how to write and balance a polyam relationship.

TodoIizuocha is nice! I admit I haven’t dabbled into it so I don’t know how fanon writes them. Although I think I prefer Iida/Uraraka/Midoriya and Todoiideku.

YES OH MY GOD BUT OF COURSE ABSOLUTELY!!! I’VE BEE THINKING ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS YES!!!

I feel like I really need to talk about Iida more on this blog so you can all fully realise how much I love him and how much I think about him daily. I completely agree with you, Tenyabowl is real and canon and the only bitch I trust.

Like, we don’t talk enough about the fact that Horikoshi said that Iida is canonically considered as one of the pretty boys of the class. I mean we been knew, but it’s good to have Horikoshi’s written words to prove it. I have this very strong headcanon that literally EVERYONE in 1A (and all of the first years tbh) has some sort of crush on Iida. For most some of them, it’s full-on hardcore yearning and pinning, for others it’s more of casual “damn he is pretty”. No one is immune to the Iida charm, he is the beautiful beefy jock, prep, nerd who loves his friends and learns from his mistakes and goes feral when no one is looking. Chaotic good KING ...

Just for funsies, here are my favourite Iida ships in ... some sort of specific order but not completely? Mostly in order of preference, but things tend to switch around.

1) Shiniida (Shinsou x Iida) YEAH I KNOW IT’S A CRACK SHIP but I really can’t help it ... Iida and Shinsou are my two favourite students characters, and there is surprisingly a lot of good art and fic out there and I’m weak. Also, Iida is jock/prep/nerd and Shinsou is 1000% pure goth, so they complete each other as soulmates and reach perfect balance together. (Please talk to me about Shinsou joining class 1A and Iida being a good class rep who helps in to fit in and Shinsou going full yearning ...)

2) Iideku (Iida x Deku) CANON KINGS!!! The number one spot can switch around between Iideku and Shiniida depending on how I feel. Iideku is so incredibly powerful and important to the story, and I’m actually really bitter that most people sleep on it. It’s literally from enemies to rivals to best friends to lovers (yeah remember that Iida and Deku’s relationship didn’t have a super smooth smart). I am enamoured with how much they trust each other, respect each other, and how much they keep influencing each other for the better. Like, the Stain arc and the Bakugou retrieval arc are PEAK Iideky content. Horikoshi is blessing us with beautiful parallels and emotionally charged scenes, we love to see it. Like, the scene where Iida punches Deku is one of my favourite scenes in the entire series (and I’m lowkey bitter that the fandom keeps reducing it to “shouto is mad that iida punched his boyfriend”). I’m could actually write a whole ass essay about iideku and why I love it so much, but I will have mercy on yall. 

3) Todoiideku/Todoiida (Todoroki x Iida x Deku and Iida x Todo) I’m putting this two together because they have similar energy and I like them for similar reasons! I just think that Iida deserves all the boyfriends you know? Todoiida doesn’t hit me as hard as iideku because they don’t have much connexion and history but it’s still so good. It’s just a really cute ship, with just enough drama to give it the good flavour. And also the concept of Todo and Deku just both being super smitten with their cute tall speedy bf is just beautiful to me ... like i said he deserves all the boyfriends.

4) Iidachako (Iida x Occhako) THAT SHIT IS JUST CUTE AS FUCK MY DUDES ... here I don’t have too much meta to share. It’s just that Iida is my favorite boy after Shig and Ochako is my favorite girl after Toga, and I love their friendship, so the idea of these going from best friends to awkward pinning to actual couple is just ... it’s just that good shit, you know? Actually, they remind me a lot from one of my favourite ship ever from the show Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun (it’s good you should all watch it) between Nozaki Umetarou and Sakura Chiyo. Chaotic clueless oblivious toll boy and small fierce emotional cute girl. We love to see it. It’s not favourite ship for either of them (I’m actually a HUGE closeted kacchako shipper, don’t @ me, they’re cute) but I love it nonetheless. 

5) Meiida (Mei x Iida) I JUST THINK THEY’RE NEAT ... CHAOTIC NERD BABIES ... I THINK THEY SHOULD KISS ... I think they had a very fun chemistry during the internship arc and I would love to see more. I think they have a lot of potential because Iida has a very mechanical quirk and Mei is well, an expert mechanic, so you could do so much with them!!! I also like it because Iida looks very organized and chaotic on the surface but is actually very chaotic and messy deep down, while Mei looks chaotic and messy, but she is actually very confident and organised. LOVE ME SOME PARALLELS ...

6) BakuIida (Bakugou x Iida) I just ... I just like ... the dynamic ... Bakugou looking like a punk but actually being an ace student who goes to bed at 8am and never breaks any rule, and Iida acting like a nerdy lawful prep but actually being a full ass punk who goes tries to murder villains in dark alleys. THE POTENTIAL OF THIS DYNAMIC ... GIVE IT TO ME ... I WANT THE FICS ... FEED ME ... I feel like they would just be very passionate and so the relationship would be chaotic but they would actually help each other out SO MUCH ... i love it.

There are a lot more Iida ships I like (IidaMomo, SeroIida, IidaYama ...) like I said, I’m pretty sure that every first-year student in UA has a crush on Iida because how could you not??? But these are my favourites at the moment.

Hhhhhh that post got out of hand, I didn't even get to talk about Tensei BUT I AGREE WITH YOUR TAKE!!! He is equally best wingman and protective big bro who will kill whoever hurts his baby brother. Tensei is a pro hero so he has the potential of being TERRIFYING I just know it. (Also I suddenly remember that Shigaraki x Tensei is one of my crack ships ... don’t @ me, I know ...)

“Izuku?” Todoroki Shoto’s datemate was facing away from him, shoulders near their ears and their hands fisted by their sides. Bakugou Katsuki, Izuku’s best friend, was nearby, looking like he was mere seconds away from a homicide. Shoto worriedly glanced at his boyfriend, Iida Tenya, but the taller boy looked just as baffled. “Bunny, are you...alright?”

Izuku turned around, and Shoto swore under his breath. Their eye was a purplish black, angry red marks lined their arms, and their nose was bleeding onto their white shirt. It was obvious they’d been crying for a while, and it seemed like they might start up again soon. Tenya was moving before Shoto could even process the situation, wrapping Izuku up in his large arms. Shoto turned to Bakugou.

“What happened?” Shoto tried to keep the anger out of his voice, it wasn’t Bakugou that he was mad at, but he wasn’t sure he succeeded.

“Apparently some transphobic assholes beat them up, said some nasty shit to them too. I haven’t been able to get much out of them, they're really shaken up. Won’t tell me who the bastards were either.” Bakugou didn’t even try to sound calm, and Shoto could respect that. He’d been friends with Izuku since they were in diapers, and they’d been nearly inseparable for their whole lives. When Izuku came out and started wearing parts of the girl uniform as well as the boys, Bakugou had been their main ally, fighting off anyone who dared look at his friend funny. It was harder in high school though, not being around them 24/7. Tenya and Shoto had ended up in the same class, but Izuku and Bakugo had been separated, both from them and each other.

Shoto nodded sharply, then went to comfort his datemate. He and Tenya led them out to where the car was waiting for them (perks of having a boyfriend who’s whole family was doctors). Tenya had managed to stop the nosebleed, though Izuku’s white shirt would need to be washed immediately if they wanted to preserve it. The car was quiet, save for Izuku’s sniffles.

“Izuku?” Tenya began tentatively. “Can you tell us what happened?”

“I…I was...Our teacher let us out a little early,” Izuku finally got out. They twisted their skirt nervously, their biker shorts peeking out a little. “I was getting my shoes from my locker when...some of the guys from my class came over a-and…” Shoto placed a hand on their knee.

“T-they started calling me names, all the usual insults. You’re just a guy looking for attention, and all that. Then they started p-pushing me around? They kept pulling at my skirt, and they shoved me into the l-lockers a couple times. It all kinda escalated when Na- I mean, one of them hit me in the face a few times. The bell rang and they all scattered, and Kacchan found me a few m-minutes later…”

Shoto was seething. The fact that there were “usual insults” made him want to punch a wall, nevermind the physical bullying that had happened while he was oblivious in class. But there was one sticking point.

“Who did this to you?” The fact that they were in Izuku’s class narrowed it down from the whole school to 19 possible perpetrators, down to 12 if you only counted the boys, but it wasn’t enough. Izuku wouldn’t meet his eyes. “Izuku, I need to know who did this to you, or it will keep happening.”

“We know you don’t want to get them in trouble,” Tenya chimed in, “But we’re only interested in keeping you safe. We don’t want you to have to deal with this level of depravity.” He gestured sharply to emphasize his points.

Izuku cracked a small grin. “I know, I just…”

“Those assholes hurt you,” Shoto stated firmly. “You don’t owe them a goddamn thing. We care more about you than anything in the whole world, bunny.”

Izuku’s forest curls covered their eyes. “Nakamura-kun,” they whispered after a moment. “He’s the main guy that picks on me, him and some of the other baseball players.” It takes Shoto a second to place the name. Nakamura, a taller kid with buzzed black hair, almost always surrounded by other guys his height and weight class, which was significantly larger than Izuku’s. Shoto’s eyes narrowed.

Just then they pulled up to the Iida estate. Shoto grabbed Izuku’s backpack before they could, eliciting a stammered “I can take it Sho-chan, you don’t have to” from the smaller teen. But Shoto didn’t give it back. Tenya lead them into the kitchen, where he pulled some sushi from the refrigerator (perks of having a personal chef on staff) and some Ice for Izuku’s eye before heading up to his room. The trio spent the rest of the afternoon together, working on homework and cuddling. And if Bakugou somehow got the names of the douchebags, and they all showed up to school sporting black eyes to match with Izuku’s, then who’s to say Shoto had anything to do with it?

no..? not gonna lie i have thought about it.. but like it would have to be a very specific category where it’s mostly fluff and have a whole bunch of emotional depth behind it.. or will be important to the story i’m trying to tell.

I almost wrote some for the college au but chicken out.. but who knows i still might add some..

As an SA victim it’s something i’m definitely interested but also scared to write bc i have done so much of my healing through writing and projecting on to characters with similar truama so i think i could definitely see myself writing at least one smut fic just to try it but honestly it’s such a touchy and important subject to me personally and to others that i know i would have to be super careful when writing it.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

yeah! most of the time at least. I actually met one of my best friends and a lot of my mutuals on here through my ao3 comments!

The only times i don’t respond is when it is hate or if i don’t have the spoons to do so.

only a few times, mostly just people who are mad when i call enji out on his abuse. Or people who are mad that I give tenya the love and appreciation he deserves.

kinda? one of my best friends and i started on one but it was during a CHAOTIC time in my life so we never finished it. oh gosh.. there are so many and i hate it.. probably my aroace soulmate au though..

tbh i don’t know if i have ANY besides my creativity. My dyslexia makes grammar and spelling so hard for me and i’m always scared it will turn people away from my fics.

but I am constantly writing stories in my head and there hasn’t been a single day that i haven’t thought about something i want to write in YEARS. so there is that.

3 bad qualities: he can get tunnel-vision (and especially at the beginning, he only really paid attention to people he cared about), he has a habit of beating himself up over things he can’t control, and while I love and encourage him fighting authority.... it’s not great he called the guy a mutt considering how folks with mutation quirks are treated in that universe oof

What's your favorite BNHA ship?

Honestly? I'm a HUGE multishipper and my favorite ship usually depends on the relationship dynamic I feel like consuming BUT I'm gonna have to say Erasermic is my ultimate favorite ship. It's what got me into bnha (from seeing artwork of it) and the whole domestic married emo-sunshine pairing dynamic that I absolutely LOVE. Some of my other favorites would probably be ToshInko (I KNOW she's technically still married but I mean where is the man also mom said it's my turn on the AU), TodoDeku (I mean "It's your power todoroki!!" i mean how could I not love that), ShinKami (like Erasermic but slightly to the left), DabiHawks (I can only handle so much of it tho bc it's so angsty) ShinDeku (it's SO cute but there's not a whole lot of content) and KiriBaku (the matching suits in Two Heroes really killed me that was adorable). I like a lot of poly ships too like the rooftrop trio (erasercloudmic), TodoIiDeku (so precious), and honestly any combo of Class 1-A just loving each other so much bc they've all got excellent chemistry (whether romantic or platonic) and I just want them to be happy. Belonging

My friend wanted me to write some soft Todoiideku stuff because he complains about the lack of good Todoiideku. It’s kinda rushed but it’s my first thing I’ve wrote in a while. I hope you all like it 💖

Izukus eyes opened quietly and glanced to the drop cieling above him. What had happened in his dream? What woke him up so suddenly? Was it...bad? He closed his eyes another moment and remembered. Stain. Todoroki, Iida, the fire and ice and blood...the look in the hero killers eyes. So...it wasn’t a good dream but it wasn’t really a dream at all. Just a replay of the last twenty four hours.

The soft movement in the bed a few inches from him made him look up, his dark hair falling into his eyes a bit. He reached a hand up to wipe the sleep from his eyes and squinted to see the other.

"Todoroki?" Izuku whispered as the two toned boy started to stand from the hospital bed he sat in. Todoroki didn’t even bother to look at the other.

"Go back to sleep, you need your rest" Todorokis words were heavy with exhaustion as he got to his feet and walked over to the window. Izuku sat up, socks barely hitting the cold tiles of the hospital floor. He shivered when his sheet slipped from him, the paper thin material barely giving him any warmth in the first place.

"Why are you up?" He asked, legs swinging softly and dragging the cold floor, picking up dust bunnies on the way. He didn’t care much, the socks were dirty anyway.

"Couldn't sleep" The other student grumbled as he leaned his elbows on the windowsil. Izuku reached for the crutch that sat next to his night stand, standing and walking over with him.

"Didn't i tell you to go back to bed?" Todoroki muttered when he smaller boy stood next to him, eyes widening and mouth growing into a bright smile.

"The stars look so beautiful! You can practically see all of them!" Izuku exclaimed, a near giggle following his words that made Todorokis lips turn up into a smile.

"Yeah, I know. I've been here a few times. It's prettiest at night" The different colored eyes landed on the astounded broccoli-headed boy beside him. He couldn’t help but think how much he loved Izukus smile.

"The reason is the light pollution. The farther you are from the city lights, The better you can see the stars" Iidas words cut through the silence and Todoroki looked toward him. When did he wake up, he wondered.

"Why aren't you asleep?" Izuku hums softly, looking toward him quickly. Iida stood, walking over to the other two and looking out the window as well.

"Your talking awoke me" Iida looked over the stars and a smile came to his lips as well. He loved seeing the two content and happy, glad they relaxed over a day they had before this nightfall.

"The stars do look especially stunning tonight" Todorokis eyes wandered to Iida and he couldn't help a feeling of belonging washing over him. He felt...at home with them. It was an unusual feeling. It made his heart full and his eyes water. He felt safe with them.

"Shoto, are you alright? You've been staring for quite a while" The purple eyes of Iida finally registering as they stared back into his own. Izuku stood between the two taller boys, sensing the gentle concern coming from Iida.

"Y-Yeah, I-uh-" Todorokis sentence caught in his throat and he quickly looked away from Iida, the eye contact making all of his thoughts swirl. Anxiety flowed through him for a moment before he realized there was no reason for him to be anxious. They cared for him, they wouldn’t judge him for his feelings.

"I just...I-I'm glad I have you two" His words came out barely over a whisper. Izuku leaned up, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.

"We're happy to have you too, Todoroki" He smiled sweetly at Todoroki whos eyes move from the shorter to the taller boy. Iida has the softest smile on his face, a barely pink tint across his cheek.

"I agree, I'm also joyed to have you around, Shoto" He looks down bashfully as he spoke. He was accepted...then why did he have this lump in his throat? This feeling that he couldn't shake. He let a smile come to his lips and his eyes watered a bit, turning his head quickly to look out the window again.

"Thank you..." Izuku stepped over, coming between Todoroki and the window and hugging him tightly. Iida came around the other side and softly leaned his head on his shoulder.

"You don't have to thank us for loving you, Shoto" Iida let out a tiny chuckle and Iida tried to chuckle back but it came out closer to a sob.

"We're never going anywhere, Sho" Izukus muffled words only caused more tears to flow from Todoroki and they stood and let him cry for a while. With the last few sniffles, Iida looked them over, his blush returning to his cheeks.

"We could all sleep on my bed if-"

"Yes"

"Yes"

The two boys looked up to the madly blushing Iida and smiled. Todoroki leaned up and pressed a kiss to his nose.

"You think either of us would deny sleeping next to you?" Iida was sure he could have died right then, Izuku blushing just as brightly behind Todoroki.

"Let's go to bed"
