this is like super nit-picky and not really a problem at all but something that's always bothered me a little is when people make human designs for non-human characters and always make them really fashionable even if that character absolutely wouldn't be in canon. like for example. human designs for twilight sparkle mlp where she wears like a cute sweater vest with a button up shirt underneath and leg warmers and stuff like. it's a relatively stereotypical 'nerdy' outfit yeah and it looks nice but. be real. would she wear that. or would she wear the same pair of sweatpants for weeks bc she's too busy studying to do her laundry with like an old sweater and some random t shirt maybe with some cheesy science pun on it or smth and none of the colours would fit. like you know what I mean. obviously no hate to people who make designs like this just something I've noticed that I'm not a huge fan of

Gale talks: Plot hole types

In the course of long running fiction, every work at some point experiences some sort of Plot hole.

Which as defined as an inconsistency in the narrative or character development of a book, film, television show, etc.

Now to me, a plot hole can vary on how much it impacts a story. And for that I came up with various levels of Plot hole types.

Level one: Pin hole: This is the minuscule stuff, like maybe a location is not as close, or a timing related event. It’s not really even a plothole but more of a nit pick. Maybe a character didn’t have a certain item they have now. Could even be a miscolor of an item. It’s the tiny stuff that only the most hyper focused of people would even notice.

Level two: Poked hole: a bit higher than tiny details. It’s a bit noticeable. Like a character being there at a time they shouldn’t. Or a power working in a different way than it should. Now it’s only a one or two time thing and often early on in the fictions development. It could be something that grows, but odds are often that it won’t be repeated.

Level 3: Foot hole: It’s a plot hole that can actually trip you up. Something that could be a problem later down the road. Like a character able to do something that wasn’t mentioned before. Or an item that did one thing does something entirely different. Or a character knowing/doing something they shouldn’t be able to do.

Level 4: Pitfall: This is the type of stuff that starts to break the plot itself. Characters doing or acting in a way that goes against what was established. Random power ups, out of left field assistance, whole events that occurred get ignored or removed without reason. A rule of the universe gets flaunted or dismissed entirely for the sake of a scene.

Level 5: Sinkhole: Similar to a Pitfall but with more than one of these factors into play. A character becoming entirely different, a change to the power system for no reason. And more. It’s catching cars and busses in this thing. But despite it there is still some semblance of plot there.

Level 6: Crater: Multiple Sinkholes are present and it’s starting to get very hard to ignore. Likely can be pointed to one event in the plot that ruined the cohesion. But for the brave can still power through. And there are still lines of plot that can still be enjoyed.

Level 7: Canyon: multiple plot craters. It’s very hard to traverse. Characters are more inconsistent than consistent. The plot is basically a rickety bridge that is barely holding on. Only few people are able to traverse this and Fanon is a huge component of trying to fix it.

Level 8: Blackhole: There is nothing. Anything and everything is basically non-sensical. Maybe at one point it was but it’s practically unrecognizable. Fanon alone is the only thing keeping interest in this, and even then it’s likely not even accurate or consistent either.

Felix - Vedic Birth Chart Analysis

Per request I am working on doing all Stray Kid members. There is no birth time so in-depth predictions are impossible. Take it as entertainment.

This is using vedic so the placements will be in different signs than tropical.

Romantic Relationships:

In his Venus conjunct Mercury, Mercury holds the lowest degree emphasizing the importance of communication. Romance and love can’t begin without good conversation. A woman can’t just be pretty, she needs to be charming in a clever way to get his attention.

Virgo Venus is considered debilitated as Virgo doesn’t allow Venus to express itself easily. Virgo Venus constantly looks for ways to perfect itself rather than enjoy itself. This can show Felix may seek perfection in himself and his partners. His Virgo Venus makes him very aware of everything that can go wrong in a relationship. He can be nit-picky and critical of relationships. This results in caution toward relationships which can lead to marrying at a later age than norm. Venus conjunct Mercury in Virgo indicates he may marry someone younger when he’s older. Nothing can be said for sure as we don’t have his birth time - so without knowing house placements a lot of information is lost.

His spouse will be someone who is creative. She’ll be adaptable and a quick learner. She may have quick wit too. She can definitely charm her way into getting what she wants. She may be a great writer as a hobby. She is highly logical - mind over heart type of person. She can ground him, she is the opposite of an enabler. She attempts to fix any issue he has without being asked. She may be dominating in marriage. She desires control - in marriage, she may take on managing their home/lives to feel secure.

She may be very active. Physically, she could be tall, lean and very youthful. She may be a performer herself in some way - acting, modelling, dancer, etc.

Venus in Chitra suggests his spouse may be interested in aesthetics and design. This could be career-wise like working in the fashion industry or as a hobby/personal interest.

Her bad trait may be that she is very judgemental/critical. She may be difficult to please as her attention to detail makes it easy for her to find flaws/problems.

Venus in Virgo opposite Pisces Moon - one way this placement manifests is encountering women who unfairly or harshly criticize him. He may have experiences with women who are insensitive to his feelings.

For example: Pisces Moons are very imaginative & often more sensitive than they appear. They can have escapist tendencies - finding solace in music, reading, film, gaming, etc. He may encounter a woman who see his hobbies as him being lazy or wasting his time. Virgo Venus conjunct Mercury shows his partners will not be shy to voice their criticism and opinions. He will be hurt by situations like this resulting in him becoming reserved and cold to her - even if it isn’t the exact scenario given. It can be a small incident that sticks out in his memory or a reoccurring pattern in his life.

Personality

Pisces Moon are very artistic and adaptable. This mutable nature can result in Felix trying out different roles in his career. He may later want to go beyond writing and singing/rapping - example: he could want to produce, direct, photography, fashion design, compose, act, play an instrument, etc.

The sextile to Jupiter in Taurus shows an abundance of creativity. His Pisces Moon is supported and protected by Taurus Jupiter. He is unlikely to fall into the negative sides of Pisces Moon like depression & addiction with Jupiter’s protection. Jupiter aspect from an earth sign gives him the ability to ground his imagination - make his ideas a reality. This is an excellent wealth indicator too.

So since it was based on the end of episode 8, episode 9 is just wholesome, and if ya a minor, don't need to watch it. It's quite funny, there's a lot of things going on, but the graphics aren't actually smooth... I think. But overall, it's nice! But this episode feels a bit lazy? At least 2 scenes are used again.

These scenes are used twice! First time is when Momo first appeared for their back, but it quickly backfired because of Takakura Ken-sama, and second time is "I'm an awkward fellow after all", and her expression is priceless :"DDDD And the way they fell :)))

But yeah, it's legit :DDDD Especially the ending scene, where momokarun are having some skinship :3 feels like a r18 stuff right here people :))))

If you watch the anime on youtube, some of the r18s will be hiddened, while watching online from the webs won't. I watched the Vietnamese version on the website 'animevietsub' (I add the link of ep9 vietnamese, watch it if ya like :)))) and the English version on Youtube, and here are the difference!

Listen, I like W&C but some of their fans are deranged. I saw the pretzel twisting about the Mother's Day posts. So nit-picky. There was nothing wrong with the post. At all.

First it was that Cam's mum was recognized while other royal mothers weren't. SHE IS THE QUEEN. That actually means something. As in, sorry to tell you this, she ranks higher than all of the other royal mothers. She does. I know they'd rather have her hide off in a closet forever or something but seriously guys, posting a pic of the Queen's mother on Mother's day isn't some huge break in tradition or something.

When asked why it was ok for W&C to honor Carol in the past, well that's different. Because reasons.

Then I saw the one blogger was asked about how things were done in the past, and if this post was really any different. The response basically was, why would I bother looking into providing proof to back up my own arguments? I mean the whole point of her blog I thought was like she kept track of shit. On this topic however, she couldn't be bothered. Because she knew she was talking out of her ass.

The argument then became, why is Cam's son there? Why not a sibling like Charles had in his pic? Are you fucking kidding me? To honor Cam's mum as a mother and grandmother on Mother's Day is all kinds of wrong to these people. If Cam put a pic of herself with her mum they'd have a problem with that too. I also saw some stuff like why was Tom in a pic when William wasn't part of this? Not sure why I need to say this, but WILLIAM MAY BE HEIR BUT HE IS NOT A MOTHER. And it would have been kooky for Charles to honor William's mother. If William wanted to be part of honoring his mother today, then he could have done so on his own social, as he has done in the past. Camilla chose to honor her mother and the baby who made her a mother. Crazy concept to wrap your head around, I know.

Who knew they could get so triggered by a nice little message honoring mums on Mother's Day? They are so nutty and legitimately don't understand why Charles and Camilla's lives don't revolve around William and Catherine.

And to top it off, Camilla's mother passed away in 1994. Thirty years ago. People did not take the high number of photos back then that they do now. Any photo of Camilla's mother has to be scanned--either from a negative or a photo--in order to be used digitally. Aside from that, they have to sort through a bunch of personal photos to find one where they don't have to crop out a large number of other friends or family members.

The amount of whining that I've seen about this is just unbelievable. But then I see who is doing the whining and I'm not so surprised.

I just finished A Desolation Called Peace by Arkady Martine, the sequel to A Memory Called Empire, and I *loved* them both, but I’m still going to point out a few nit-picks I have with it, in order of petty to significant:

I do love and appreciate Mahit’s prioritizing her need to keep her sense of self as non-Teixcalaanli by refusing to live in the City until she’s certain that her love of its culture won’t consume her. Nevertheless, as a reader I continue to be more stressed out than the text wants me to be about how and when the Stationers’ visa applications are being processed when their sole-ambassador-who-has-no-staff is two months’ space travel away from her office on Teixcalaan. The one line about having her mail forwarded did not help!

A high-tech space empire typified by massive bureaucracy and high education standards that’s made first contact with aliens at least once before *must* have actual, qualified xeno-linguists somewhere in its government or academia. Three Seagrass assigning herself and Mahit to the task of deciphering an unknown alien language basically because she’s bored at her desk job and wants an excuse to see Mahit again is a way bigger deal than the characters or the text ever acknowledge. They are already having a border war with this species and the stakes of figuring out how to talk to them are so high, and Three Seagrass is like, “Well, as a poet, I’m really good at my own language and Mahit must be good at figuring out foreign languages and cultures since she understands ours so well, so that’s basically the same as being an actual linguist right?” No. I understand that taking someone with official qualifications along would have added another original character to an already expanded cast, and undercut Three Seagrass’s already flimsy excuses to drag Mahit into this, and created a third wheel to get in the way of developing Three Seagrass’ and Mahit’s relationship, but if the author wasn’t going to do it, there should have been either a stronger in-universe justification for Three Seagrass and Mahit to have at least no worse chance of success than a real language specialist like the Fleet requested, or a greater acknowledgement of how huge a dereliction of duty deciding to take an unqualified crack at this herself actually was.

Avoiding explicit spoilers, I didn’t like the resolution to the Darj Tarats subplot. Him being present in the final scene felt very contrived and also pointless. I kept wondering why, from a story perspective, he was even there - right up until his final line, which was like, “well, I guess I know why he had to be here for the story now, but I’m not sure this justifies him adding nothing to that whole previous scene.”

Also, why was he there from a character perspective? Like, he tells Dekakel Onchu that he’s going to do something, and then he doesn’t really seem to try to do that, he just - yells at Mahit in front of the Teixcalaanlitzlim like he thinks if he just berates her harshly enough she’ll make the battle go how he wants with - idk, magic I guess? - even though the general he wants her to manipulate is standing right there listening to all this. I get that he’s supposed to be a ruthless and power-abusing man who has spent so long obsessing over one idea for a master plan that he’s lost sight not only of the moral ramifications but also practical questions about whether it would even work the way he envisioned even if his agents obeyed him completely and has nothing left but to take it out on them when they don’t and it doesn’t, but I’m not sure that he’s intended to come off quite as foolish and shortsighted as he ultimately does.

Anyway, despite what it sounds like, I did genuinely love both of these books (somehow it’s easier to list problems than to genuinely enthuse about all the things I loved!), and I’m really looking forward to rereading them in the context of what I now know from having read them and to seeing what else the author writes in this universe.

I really really like Doppelgangland. It is a very fun episode. I enjoyed rewatching it a lot, just as I knew I would going into it. I understand why it's some people's favorite entry of the season and why it regularly appears in top five episode lists for the show as a whole. But.

Okay, there are some world-building and plotting issues I have with it, namely:

By all the rules established in The Wish, I don't think the Wishverse should ... you know, exist. What exactly did Giles breaking Anyanka's amulet do if it still does? It didn't send Cordelia back (she was already dead), it just ... what?

The Mayor sending vampires to kill 'our' Willow is a bit too blatantly just an excuse to give vampire!Willow some disposable henchmen (why does he not ever try again?).

Willow doubling back to the library to get the tranquilizer gun last seen in Beauty and the Beasts is a nice bit of continuity (even if it took me a second to realize that that's what she was doing) but vampire!Willow having snuck out of her own hostage situation to show up and be captured is a bit harder to justify.

But -- as I've said before -- plotting and world-building aren't Buffy's strengths and I would certainly agree with the suggestion that these are all laughably minor complaints. Pedantic nit-picking of the worst sort. Who cares? (Well, me, but.)

Much more important though, is the end of the episode, and how the problem of Willow's doppelganger is resolved. That's the part that keeps this one out of my own best-of lists.

I've touched on this a bit before (when I talked about Ted earlier, for example), but during this rewatch I've often noticed that I really do not agree with the implied moral judgements that the show is making. Last week Faith killing one person by mistake was a huge deal. Okay. This week, Buffy and Willow deliberately let a known murderer and torturer free to -- as far as they can reasonably expect, and as far as they will ever know -- willfully murder and torture countless people. How is this not far, far worse than what Faith did in Bad Girls? Do the lives of people Buffy won't ever meet just matter less? Is the show claiming that death by vampire is somehow preferable to death by stake? Is giving vampire!Willow "a choice" a meaningful action when the show's lore has, to this point, been very very clear that vampires do not have a choice (not that she shows any sign of regretting her actions anyway)?

Yes, conveniently for everyone involved (except her), vampire!Willow dies within seconds of being sent back to her home dimension and doesn't get to hurt anyone, but this surely can have little bearing on the morality of the decision to let her live and send her back in the first place. What did the Scoobies expect would happen?

(And yes, Willow not being ready to kill her evil, "kind of gay" shadow self is obviously an intentional echo of Buffy having to grapple with that choice herself later this season. I get it. And yes, it would be hard to argue that the episode would be meaningfully better if Buffy had just staked vampire!Willow at the first opportunity, and that's not what I'm suggesting should have happened. But the idea that Buffy -- who was willing to send her boyfriend to hell to save the world, and willing to stake the vampire that her old crush Ford was turned into, and who told Xander and Willow that they had no option but to kill the vampire version of their friend Jesse -- would not just spare a vampire but let it go free to kill again simply because it looked like (but was not!) her friend Willow does not sit well with me at all.)

And what's especially frustrating is that the show (to say nothing of the wider fandom) doesn't seem to even realize there's any particular problem here. Vampire!Willow isn't happy where she is, so they send her somewhere they think she will be happy, problem solved. But I really think there is something wrong with this, and it's something that will (in some form or another) become increasingly worrisome as the show goes on.

(Also, the obvious elephant in the room here is that if Willow wants to spare a vampire's life but not let it hurt people -- Willow Rosenberg the witch who successfully cast a spell to give a vampire a soul last year -- it shouldn't be hard for her to figure out a way to do just that. But then, for Buffy to work at all as a premise going forward, we all have to agree to pretend that this spell just doesn't work on vampires not called Angel, I guess.)

Got tired of the snow and cold in the PNW so I dipped to Scottsdale AZ and rented a 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo. #lifesgood

So quick review. This was the “automatic” e-gear model. The car aesthetics are awesome. Great look, huge head turner. I was surprised by how quiet the car was actually. The V10 makes a sweet sweet sound that I can only describe as CLEAN. But it’s surprisingly on the quieter side. I just want more of that sound.

Handling : 7/10 with 10 being a literal physical dime turn. I think the main issue here is I just wasn’t a fan with how long and wide the car is. It’s not a problem, just a matter of preference. Car turns well, handling is excellent. Braking is a little difficult with the e-gear. It just doesn’t have a natural feel to it.

Comfort 4/10 it’s clearly and obviously compromising comfort for the cool factor. The bucket seats are surprisingly comfortable but a few things stood out to me as glaring issues. Your left leg in the drivers seat can’t rest straight forward, it has to make this awkward 90 degree angles resting position and after some drive time you’ll notice it starts to wear on your knee. The second issue is the doors have absolutely no arm rest capability, with the quirky e-gear that requires both hands basically on the wheel 24/7, my arms were TIRED after driving the car around for the day. I know this sounds like nit picking but boy you’d be surprised what makes or breaks you wanting to drive a beautiful call all day vs not. And I feel these are issues that don’t exist for any reason for the compromise of the functionality of the car which makes it upsetting.

More on comfort: Man, buttons, buttons everywhere. In no discernible pattern or arrangement either..it just frankly feels like it had no thought put into it outside of aesthetic niceness. It’s very aesthetically appealing but it ends there.

Performance 7/10: hella fast, not the fastest, but the pulls have a great feeling to them. I think my GT4 pulls harder and is louder. A titanium exhaust would fix the sound issue. The e-gear is a problem for me. It’s close enough to having to be driven like a manual, that I’d rather just have the manual and have full control. It’s definitely a unique and fun experience. I’m very happy I picked this model to experience this quirky transmission, but I wouldn’t own it.

Overall this was a super cool and fun experience. And it was a really fun opportunity to compare the car to my GT4 at home and see what I was missing out on. I know a lot of people will disagree with me and some of my “hot takes” but man bro, there are just some comically little issues that make you go, “this is a peak super car experience that is absolutely lauded?” I’m not a softie, in fact I love the high feedback harsh rides. Just some things that feel like really odd oversights rofl. Dont yell at me too much! This was a completely biased personal review by a Porsche lover haha — love y’all.

MEET: Grace Wilde (Yuusona)

Note: My TWST AU had NRC as a college instead of a high school, so all the characters are aged up 4 years! But in regular Au's Grace is 18.... maybe

Background: Prior to NRC, Grace was a college student at a small university in the middle of nowhere. She is the oldest sibling of 5 kids and came from a big, close nit family. She was really close with her mom and grandma as all three loved to read. She was always an over-achieving student, and her 4.0 helped her get a ton of scholarships from her university. Grace is an English-History Double major and wants to become a professor one day. All of this changed when she was hit by a car heading back to her dorm one day in an attempt to save some freshman girls from getting hit. Much like Yuuta and Yuukun in the manga, Grace died, and the black carriage took her to NRC.

Time at NRC: Once the whole opening debacle and the Grim situation are figured out, Grace is hit with the reality that she died, was sent to another world, and has no way home. Initially, it was rough, but thankfully, all the strange events kept her from mulling over all those traumatic events. Other than overblots, troublesome classmates, her dilapidated dorm, and a very hungry talking cat, she's fine. She actually really enjoys school and the challenges of being in a magic school with no magic. A few of the things that have kept her going are Ace, Deuce, Riddle, Azul, her friends, and Kerby (her Service Familiar).

The school nurse, Nurse Pinklee, with the help of Professor Trein and Crewel, convinced (blackmailed) Crowley into getting Grace a service familiar after Trein found her having a panic attack in the broom closet. Due to everything that has happened to her, dealing with so many overblots, and her being one of the only girls in the school and a magicless one at that, they made a very convincing argument. Crewel had a friend who trained service familiars and had the perfect pup. Trein and Crewel gave Grace the pup as a midterm gift (after Azul's Overblot). It was very similar to the scene in "Lady in the Tramp," Trein called Grace into his office, and a big box was waiting: A big Grytrash pup was waiting inside with a purple and green bow. Kerby, short for Cerberus, is a special type of service familiar. He helps her with bother her panic attacks and protects her from harm. On command, he can turn into a huge Cerberus with a Bark that can push people back. When Kerby is "resting" or there is no space for the big boy, he becomes a tattoo on Grace's arm. Kerby has helped Grace a lot and gives her a sense of comfort during extremely stressful or dangerous times. (Further explanation in a later post)

After Azul's overblot, Grace and Azul started to connect as she told him: "I know what it's like to be bullied over your looks, so if you want to talk about it, just let me know. We can talk, or I can listen. Kids can be awful, but I am here for you if you need... by the way, I think you were a pretty cute kid." Ever since then, Azul's heart grew three sizes for the magicless girl. Over the break, the two grew closer and by the end of the "Scarbia incident" Grace agreed to work at the Lounge (partly because she needed money and partly to be closer to Azul) and Azul worked up the courage (through relentless tweel bullying) to ask Grace out. She helps him deal with his insecurities, and he helps her deal with the fact that she can never go home. What started as a friendship for mutual gain became a loving relationship.

Before Pomefiore moved in for VDC, Thatch School for Delinquent Mages joined Ramshackle, Crowley tasks Cyn and Grace to not only continue doing Crowley-chores but watch over the delinquent students and help them fit in. Now, with a houseful of problems and more overblots occurring, things in Grace's life are chaotic and busy than ever, but fun, and she wouldn't have it any other way.

Trivia:

Much like Wendy is the "Mother" to the Lost Boys in "Peter Pan," Grace is often referred to as the "Mom" or "Mother" of the first year gang.

She is a year older than most of the first years and being an older sister in her old life, her mama instincts often take over when dealing with the first years + her friends (I see NRC as a COLLEGE, so I have aged up the characters for my au).

The "Mother" friend, she, Trey, Ruggie, Jamil, and Lilia, have a "parent-friend support chat" where they complain and can ask for help if someone's in trouble.

After the Thatch students join Ramshackle, Grace's mom-stincs skyrocket as she tries to make sure they stay out of trouble (as Cyn seems to encourage the mayhem) and help them adapt to regular college life again.

Ace, Deuce, and Grim are VERY overprotective of Grace. They see her as their sister, and no one is good enough for her. That being said, when Azul and Grace started dating, the trio tried (and failed) to stalk them on their dates, but each time, the Leeches showed up and booted them out per Azul's orders.

Grace and Cynthia are very close. Between splitting the Crowley Chores and Grim-sitting, they have a very special bond. Grace mainly deals with the overblots, but she asks Cyn for help with Leona, Azul, and Idia before Cyn herself overblots.

The reason Grace joined the Equestrian Club was because of Riddle. He agreed to join her book club as a way of taking a break if Grace agreed to join the Equestrian Club.

Riddle regards Grace as an Honerary member of Heartsyble after his overblot. The relationship the two have is odd as they are as close as family. Riddle tutors Grace to aid her in the knowledge that she was missing from not growing up in Twisted Wonderland while in return, Grace helps Riddle in "temper relocation" through writing, painting, crafting, or reading poetry, books, or plays aloud that Grace picked out.

Riddle, Grace, Deuce, and Carter are the first members of the NRC Book Club. Grace is a book nerd, and reading is her comfort in the craziness of NRC. Riddle joined because of the deal with Grace. Deuce thinks reading more will help him with his grades, and Cater joined to keep up with book trends on social media (for the aesthetic). After some time, Azul, Jade, Silver, Rook, and Malleus also join. They read a variety of books from Rom-coms (Carter's suggestion) to Classics (Malleus' Suggestion), and Grace loves the exposure to literature.

Grace and Trein have a special bond. After the first few classes, Grace goes up to Trein to talk about history because she thinks it's fascinating. Having a student who engages in class, does the reading, and wants to learn more is rare in his classes, so Trein appreciates it when she comes up to talk. Grace also reminds Trein of his stepson, Ellain, who attends RSA (despite his protest of wanting to be with his dad).

Trein steps in as Grace's Father Figure when parents are needed or it's a family-centric event. During the family days, when all her friends are off with their families, Trein offers to walk around with her and have tea while they discuss a range of things from history to her past.

Grace talks in her sleep, and when Cyn, Grace, and Grim stay with Leona in book 3, Grace woke up all three of them as she called out, "WATCH OUT!" In her sleep.

Grace always has a sewing kit, medicine, and a first aid kit in her book bag, which has been nicknamed - the black hole.

heyo, sorry if this is a bit of an uncomfortable question, but I've been thinking about it for a while. I'm really curious to know the opinion of a biologist with more experience (especially a queer one hehe)

have you ever faced any pressure like, "who even cares about your research on these weird bugs?" (a bit of a generalization on entomology, though it also kind of applies to my general interest in pursuing zoology) or "you do know you won't be making much money, right?", as well as questions like, "why don't you go in medicine? a career as a doctor is more promising, researchers barely get paid anyway"

and if you did, how did you deal with it? i guess my impostor syndrome never fails to catch up to me ahah, but it would be good to know if there's someone like this as well

Sorry I took so long to get to this! There's no way to answer this briefly, I think.

Yes, all the time. It's the curse of anyone in basic science research. Luckily, for me, I don't think that pressure has come from anyone who actually matters. Academic influences, and even my parents are very supportive of my career path (my parents maybe not so much supportive as much as "pressuring", but that's a different story). From more distant family, online, family friends, and random people I meet everywhere? All the fucking time, and its very tiring.

There's two very different issues at hand in your ask, though. The financial aspect, and the level of respect and understanding people have for basic science in the first place.

As for the financial aspect… I'm sorry. The reality is that yeah, you're not gonna make much money. But you have to ask yourself whether that's a priority for you. You'll definetly make enough money to live on, but it won't be a glamorous amount. You genuinely have to love what you do, and that can be a bit rough. But there's nothing wrong with that. There's a lot of pressure to choose the highest paying careers, even when its past the point of increasing your means. Its okay not to care. But yeah, unfortunately, no one's getting rich in field work :/

For the other aspect… that is a huge disconnect between the general public and science, and one that I think manifests in a lot of ways beyond even what you're saying. The value of basic science research is twofold. The reason most people who are passionate about the subject get into research is for its own sake- the world is cool! To me, inquiry and curiosity are one of the most beautiful things about being human, and is worth it for the simple sake of expanding our range of knowledge as a society. It's like asking who cares about some dumb painting while looking at the Mona Lisa. But, to be blunt… some people just don't see that. Which brings us to the other aspect: unseen utility. Basic science research saves the world. And that's not really an exaggeration. The example I've given so many people recently is COVID vaccines. mRNA molecules being able to cause immune reactions was a "who cares" research problem a couple decades ago… and look at us now. Oftentimes its not so one-to-one, though. For ecology, the bulk quantity of ecology research contributes to our understanding that ultimately guides how we care for the world. While its sometimes difficult to see how "those weird bugs" contribute to public policy and understanding, but "those weird bugs" alongside "those weird plants" alongside "those weird fungi" alongside "those weird rats" and whatever else, together, contribute to the net understanding of what areas need to be protected, what ecosystems are at risk, what ecosystems threaten human existence if they collapse, and how best to protect all of those. Research matters.

I'm picking nits, but neither sounds like imposter syndrome to me. In fact, I think it's kinda the opposite. I think you'll fit in just fine with entomologists, or other scientists in zoology, ecology, evolutionary bio, or whereever. A lot of them have gone through exactly the same thing that you are, from their early career interactions with friends and family to their later career interactions with the public and outreach. So in a way, I think that's your solution as well. If you take the first leap into your field, either declaring a major, becoming involved in a particular research lab, volunteering, or whatever else, you're going to start surrounding yourself with people who have undergone the same external pressures that you're facing right now. They'll intrinsically understand the value of the type of research you wanna do, and they'll also understand that not everyone sees it that way.

But getting to that level is hard. It requires persistence. But you'll get there <3

So I got my laptop up and running again, and returned to Oxygen Not Included! (Sorry. Nit pictures at the moment. I need to relearn how to take screenshots.) And, as expected, I managed to mess up a few times on stuff! :D

Not too many things. Just plumbing. I APPARENTLY built a pipe bridge the wrong way, so the pipes kept clogging until I finally realized what I did wrong and fixed it. The plumbing mechanics have always been tricky and a huge pain. Why I will never be a plumber! :D Though why my ONE DUPE with the plumbing skill wouldn't do anything to empty the pipes is beyond me. Well....at least I have a nice swamp biome going on.

The only other problem I have is all the carbon dioxide that has accumulated in the lower parts of the base (THAT I'M TRYING TO DIG THROUGH) and random spots of chlorine floating around the base. Not sure how to get rid of it. Hoping to get oxyfern from the printer to plant in the carbon dioxide zones. Or one of those cute purple ghosts.

Other than that, I have two chlorine geysers (might be why I have random spots of chlorine gas floating around) and found a few things from the Spaced Out DLC. I'll be sure to upload photos when I get around to learning how to do it. I HAD screenshots from the Darkest Laboratory colony, but Steam ate them. I guess.

GUESS WHAT... I THINK I DID IT!!!

It has been so long since I have posted here. I started this blogging so that I can share my thoughts (truest thoughts) of how I feel during this journey of preparing for the JEE exam and its aftereffects. If you see my previous post, it would have sounded depressing as hell. But I am here to update you on my life. And this is going to be LOOONNGGG. so hold yourself up till the end.

So I give my JEE Advanced and when I calculate my score, it is known to be below par. Poor enough to make me forget my IIT dreams. The counseling starts, and I get production engineering from NIT, CALICUT. It is decent but not what I wanted to get. At this point, I lost HOPE in everything. Literally everything. I used to pray to god like crazy but then I didn't bother to pray at all. I thought I was not going to college this year. I will study for one whole year again to give JEE the next year. To see my friends get into the nicest colleges, I felt really really LOST (I am being real).

Though my parents were disappointed, they were still trying to boost my morale. They took me to a temple and I did some rituals and poojas but with literally NO HOPE. Every night I cried about how much of a fool I was on this journey to have wasted my potential.

But then one evening, I think I was watching a series or something. Maybe B99 (which u guys should definitely watch). My parents came rushing through my door only to say " YOU GOT INTO NTU." (In case you're wondering, NTU is in Singapore and is one of the finest universities in Asia). My mind just .... it just FROZE. I didn't know how to react. My mom was crying and my dad... shit even my dad was tearing up. I have never seen him that emotional in my life. But in front of my parents, I just didn't feel like expressing anything. I just acted like KAY, IT AINT A BIG THING. But it really is a HUGE thing for me. I just waited for their emotions to settle, I went into my room and took my laptop to search the god's name to whom I did the ritual and started praying and crying. At that point, I just gave god the credit for my acceptance.

YES. I got into NTU. Hell, I even completed my first semester here at NTU. Oh well, I am studying MECHANICAL ENGINEERING with a second major in DATA ANALYTICS. I think this is my happy place. I just want to say one final thing. Time is the biggest problem as well as the biggest solution (at times the ONLY SOLUTION) in a lot of scenarios. Either you use it or you wait for it to use you. In my case, I failed to use but it used me when it wanted to. It may not be such a big accomplishment for many, but for a guy who let down his parents, who thought he wouldn't go to college that year, who basically lost interest in life cuz his dreams went down the drain... I should say that the guy is HAPPY right now ( I am the guy if you're wondering who).

From here on, I will try to post frequently. and it may not be about JEE every time, but my name still wud be JEEOURNEY, cuz that's where it all started!!!

Akaashi's pov We were all moving in together one more night separated okay i could see bokuto from my window as me and him currently are at our childhood homes but it was one more night and all four of us will be living under one roof As i thought about i looked over to my beloved emo Owl is he in emo mode now i grabbed a not book then to grab his attention i knocked on my window and held up my book that said are you okay? I watched as he scribbled his answer and showed me No:(

For the rest of the day it went focusing on with the plain of cheering up kenma and akaashi the main reason they were at the mall kenma got some games akaashi got his boba and Onigiri and the bokuto and Kuroo brought their kitten and baby owl their favourites while also ordering Door step delivery food of their favourite food for dinner despite their little run in they had a fun day over all and were pretty tired kenma even complained

Kenma: I am never stepping out side again to much effort and to crowded for my liking
