Since Percy can talk to sea creatures, I'd like to think that one day he passed a pet shop with all these fish screaming at him in agony. Since then there has been a giant aquarium in cabin 3 with fish. He converses with them daily when he's at camp. He gave them all names (they were delighted to hear his suggestions).
There is one grumpy grouch that always tries to eat as much food before all the other fish. He has to keep him forcibly apart in a tiny water ball during dinner. He named him Zeus. Percy doesn't give a shit. Poseidon knows and thinks it is hilarious.
Chiron, who takes care of them when Percy's gone, cannot understand them but he doesn't like the way they look so judgemental. They are very much gossiping about him to his face.

Imagine you live in pelican town.
The new farmer has been here a couple weeks now and seems to be settling in, except... He's picking the weirdest friend choices. Like sure it's not weird to befriend the local fisherman, especially when he has an interest in fishing himself, but you're pretty sure you've seen him rooting through the Saloon's garbage with the local homeless man. As well, he keeps harassing the poor guy who works at Joja even though you KNOW he doesn't want to be friends with him.
And since you're on the topic of weirdness, isn't it odd he seemingly runs everywhere at a full sprint? Or just... Eats entire raw fish while fishing for "energy reasons"...
...
Despite all that, it's too early to call him off putting or anything... He has been engaging in town traditions, and he's started helping out with the old community centre. He's probably like the rest of you. Someone with a few quirks, that will fit in with the valley great!
Surely he can't get any weirder... Right?

💙 ¡Hola mola! 👋
We recently welcomed a new ocean sunfish (Mola mola) to our Open Sea Exhibit. Just like the fintastic travelers that visit Monterey Bay, our ocean sunfish is making a splash as a delightful, albeit temporary, guest at the Aquarium!
When a sunfish reaches a weight of approximately 500 pounds (230 kg) or exhibits behavioral changes signaling their readiness to go, we release them back into the wild, equipped with tags. In our collaborative scientific community, where research involves public participation, these tags play a crucial role. They enable us to track their growth if encountered by anyone—including you—in the future.
The duration of a sunfish’s visit to the Aquarium remains a mystery, but for now, let's marvel at the majestic mola moments while we muse on the mosaic of marine magic!

Daily fish fact #558
Sarcastic fringehead!
They get their name from their temperament and the fringe-like appendages on their heads! They’re best-known for their large jaws which they’ll open wide and press against their competitor’s similarly open mouth during territorial battles.
