In the Young Wizards 'verse, how would the universe handle two wizard-potentials going for the same manual at the same time, like reaching for the same book at the library? Would it somehow magically duplicate itself? Would it avoid the question entirely by waiting to choose the potentials until later? Would either (or both) of them get a notification of the manual installing itself as an app on their phones, thus distracting them from grabbing the book? (So many options!)
The Young Wizards series is one of my all-time favorites, by the way. Thank you for putting it into the world ❤️❤️ I need to reread it again soon!
First of all: thanks for the nice words! Delighted that the books were there for you. 😊
As to your question: I'm not sure this is a problem that's likely to come up, for an array of reasons that have to do with the basic nature of YW-'verse wizardry.
Basically, though: every wizard (like every other human, and every other sentient being) occupies a unique temporospatial position that doesn't just involve where they are, and when they are, but who they are; as well as where they've been, and what they've experienced. Different people, born in different places and raised in different ways by other different people, are inevitably going to have different personalities and different worldviews... and therefore, also, different preferred ways to engage with wizardry.* The chances that a given instrumentality offered to a given person is going to be an exact or even near-exact duplicate of the one offered to another person are pretty small. I don't think we need to worry too much about the two-hands-reaching-for-the-same-Manual-at-the-same-time paradigm.
Bear in mind also that there are a lot of different ways to get at Speech-based wizardly info besides books. Offered instrumentalities can vary wildly due not just to cultural norms, but personal preferences. Someone who likes stories but doesn't care for reading physical books might have their Manual turn up as an (apparent) audiobook. (Or maybe a podcast: or a videoblog: who am I to judge?) After all, we've already had wizards who manage spells or otherwise engage with wizardry by listening to the Sea, acquiring the Speech through sentient laptops, hearing it as in-mind speech which they manage by (probably somewhat Speech-enhanced) memory; by direct communications with the Powers that Be via an (apparent) little magical light source they carry around with them, and numerous other methods. (And don't forget the slightly unusual instrumentality that turns up in the YW 30-Day OTP sequence, in which one new probationary wizard obtains his Manual access via what appears to be Tuxedo Mask's rose from Sailor Moon.) ...Additionally, I have a vague memory of one wizard carrying around a Manual access that seems to be the one and only Magic 8-Ball featuring answers that are not hazy. Don't ask me which book it's in, though. Might be Games Wizards Play, but that's a guess.
As for app installations—no reason that Manual access might not turn up as an app update. Also, in terms of dedicated devices, wizPads and wizPhones (formerly wizPods) have been around for a while now, and both have become canonical over time: Darryl McAllister's using one of the wizPhone-based Manual versions in A Wizard of Mars. (Though these may occasionally present problems for practitioners testing out a new paradigm.) As a wizard grows into their practice of the Art, it's not at all unusual to change instrumentalities as one finds something that works better for them than what the Powers sent them the first time out.
Anyway: hope this helps! 😀
*As for the probably inevitable question, "But what if they're twins?" To quote a well-known authority, "It's never twins." :) (And that said: starting with Wizards at War, we see that occasionally, it is twins... and I'm pretty sure they acquired their delivery instrumentalities separately, though I can't recall whether this gets dealt with in canon.)

Hot Topic is selling Ruby and Sapphire pendant necklaces!
. . . Unfortunately they're also calling them "best friend" necklaces.
(And the description even sort of indicates that they understand the context of Ruby and Sapphire's relationship while still saying it's a "bestie thing.")
Ruby and Sapphire are fused for life, just like you and your bestie! Inspired by characters from Steven Universe, this bestie necklace set has a silver-tone necklace with a Sapphire-shaped pendant and a ring engraved with Sapphire's name and a faux sapphire on it, as well as a gold-tone necklace with Ruby pendant and faux ruby ring.
Last time I complained about a description I got people sending me weird messages about OH MY GOD STOP TRYING TO MAKE IT A HATE CRIME and OK BUT THAT'S WHAT THIS KIND OF "ONE FOR YOU, ONE FOR SOMEONE ELSE" JEWELRY IS *CALLED*, IT'S *NOT* ACTUALLY AN ISSUE etc. And yeah. Sometimes even with straight characters you'll see them marketed this way (I found something similar with "Bestie Promise Rings" with designs of Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask.) But especially when it comes to same-sex relationships, I'm bothered seeing them presented as exclusively for you and your bestie. Like, if you don't know about the nature of the relationship or you just want plausible deniability because people above you are being jerks about Teh Ghey, you could always just write "give it to the one who's Ruby to your Sapphire!" or something, c'mon.

Sailor Moon.
The first character I first fell in love with:  Mamoru Chiba. He's actually why I fell in love with the show.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:  Again, Mamoru. I always saw people taking sh*t about him whenever it came to Sailor Moon, but after watching him in action and his quippy lines as Mamoru and Tuxedo Mask, I just couldn't agree.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t:  The Starlights. I just never found them appealing to the anime and honestly, I found them very rude and narcissistic toward everyone, especially Seiya. I don't know if this is just me, but I never knew what made them so great to the people in the show and in real life.
The character I love that everyone else hates:  Chibiusa. I know she can have her annoying moments, but I'll be honest, I love her relationships with Helios and Hotaru.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Starlights in the manga. Honestly, I was fine with the Starlights in the manga, but after their fandoms kept harping on and on and on about how much better Starlights are than Mamoru, I just found myself skipping their parts.
The character I would totally smooch:  Mamoru. Sorry, Usagi.
The character I’d want to be like:  In real life, I'm most like Mamoru since I'm reticent, withdrawn, and have a hard time opening up to others, but I can't help but admire Usagi. She's so charismatic, open, and can make friends out of anyone and I wish I could do that.
The character I’d slap:  Demande. Fricking creep. Mamoru and Usagi should've beaten the sh*t out of him.
A pairing that I love: Usamamo. What can I say they're a miracle romance for a reason.
A pairing that I despise: Seiusa or Demanusa. Both are pretty equal in my distaste for them.

wait where did astruc say that stuff about sailor moon now 😭 is that like a recent thing or??
---
There's a new interview out, or there's a proper translation for an older one, because I’d heard some of the stuff in it before, but Astruc could also just be repeating himself. The interview is for Astruc’s ego stroking, since he mostly spends it playing the pass the blame game for his contested writing decisions and trying to sound wise and experienced by pretending he’s seen critically acclaimed shows he actually hasn't. He also tries to hype people up for Miraculous being this never-ending show that just goes on and on by claiming he has only told 5% of the story he has planned. I’m just wondering, if he has so many story ideas, why didn't season 4 have a proper story and spent all its runtime setting up season 5 instead? He also claims season 7 will make you rethink season 6, which makes me think it's gonna be another season 4 where nothing actually happens despite this show being supposedly fully serialized now. Or they're going to make some more blatant retcons and pretend they're surprising and totally set up plot twists instead.
A lot of people are freaking out about Astruc saying there's enough of this sloppily-told story to last us twelve seasons, but I’m cringing at his claims that they have Gabriel and André’s backstories all figured out and they’d like to dig into that some more while giving André a redemption arc. He was really into the idea of an André redemption arc, because, as he puts it, André actually wants to change unlike Chloé, who Astruc really totally wanted to redeem, you guys, but she told him no :(
I’m serious, by the way; he literally claims he wanted to redeem Chloé and gave her every chance to change her ways but she just wouldn't, because real people in her position wouldn't and they value realism oh-so-much, which is why Marinette can install a one-way mirror in the girls' bathroom at her school and not get a felony charge. He loves to act like he isn't the puppeteer holding the strings. I can hardly wait for some retroactive justification for how these rich, middle-aged white men’s abuse and neglect of their children is okay. The show didn't have enough abuse apologia in it yet! :D
Like, I expect writers to lie about how great their writing is, they're trying to sell you a product of said writing after all. I just think, if he's gonna claim he’s doing something new and unique, he should actually check the media he claims his show is related to. Every time he makes statements about shows, movies or comics, he makes it obvious that he doesn't actually know anything a person who’d seen them would know about them. Like, yes, Sailor Moon is the core Scout, but any decisions the Sailor Scouts make are made together or Luna gives them orders. Usagi is not the standard type leader Astruc makes it sound like she is when he says his Sailor Moon -like Miraculous AU would have Marinette “lead her own hero team”. Although I’d be interested in an AU where Marinette actually cares about what others think, Astruc has made it clear that's not what he's interested in, so his description of Sailor Moon is already incorrect before he says this version of Miraculous also wouldn't have a love story, because I guess he thinks the “Tuxedo Mask is useless” memes are the actual canon or something, which just proves that he hasn't seen the show, since from the first episode onward, Tuxedo Mask is an important, helpful ally to Sailor Moon. Just because he doesn't have flashy magic attacks in the first anime doesn't mean he doesn't contribute important insight or distractions or isn't actually physically capable.
Basically, Astruc can't say two sentences about a piece of media without all of it being incorrect. He's gotten way too comfortable thinking nobody in this fandom reads or watches anything not Miraculous-related, probably because, in all these years, the fandom at large hasn’t discovered that Marinette is clearly just Nikki Maxwell with superpowers all the way down to her character design. When you get away with plagiarism, it tends to make you cocky.

Having recently played the newer seasons for Kei and Yuzuru, one thing I noticed is how absent Kaz is. I like how there is this shared comradery between Kei and Yuzuru in their stories and it makes the reading experience all the more enjoyable. But then when I look at how absent Kaz is for the most part of their stories, it feels off. Not in a bad way as I still enjoyed the stories but off in a way that makes Kaz feel left out. They're the 3S's I do like them as a trio but I guess a part of me still wishes Kaz would be a little more involved in their stories all while still keeping the man guy (yuzu or kei) the main focus of the story. He does play an important role in Yuzu's and Kei's life and I get they can't be together all the time but I still wanted more of them to be together and not let Kaz be the equivalent of the Sailor Moon meme of Tuxedo Mask showing up for a few seconds before leaving. What do you think?
Is Kazuomi being left out in Kei's and Yuzuru's routes?
Hello anon!
I get what you mean when it comes to this, I've been thinking this while reading Kei's latest main stories as well. I have been a bit busy after being extremely sick last week, and then creating content for MK and Ikeprince lately, but I am still catching up on Yuzu's main stories and only have a remaining few to read to see how Kazu is portrayed in his route too.
I already got to mention this in previous asks, but from my point of view, there's at least 2 potential reasons that I can think of about why Kazuomi is being more "left out" of their trio in Kei's and Yuzu's latest stories.
The most logical reason I can think of is that Yuzu and Kei being seemingly closer is only due to them sharing the same writer. Of course we all know it's not true that they're closer technically speaking, but it makes sense that a writer is more capable of continuing a story with what they've already been working with and creating. It's possible that they know Kazuomi's characterization a bit less so they try to prioritize Kei and Yuzu, which they have been writing for since the beginning.
I don't know if the writers communicate between each other while making stories to make sure their scenario matches the characterization their colleage created, but if they don't, that would explain why Kazuomi is more absent.
There's another reason that's less technical and more of an in-game explanation, if that makes sense. What I also think is that Kazu, just like Yuzu and Kei, is extremely observant of others. Although, unlike Yuzuru and Kei who have a hard time not lending a hand to their closed ones, Kazuomi tries to respect his friends' boundaries and would only help if it was urgent or if he was asked for help.
He's not indifferent to their despair at all, but he's more of a spectator who is eager to know how his friends will act on their next move. In a way, he respects their pride and secretly trusts in their ability to overcome things on their own, despite being very worried about them deep down and hoping for a better situation. He seems to understand that it's important for them to be the ones to act for their own future, but if needed, he'll always be there.
He always knows what's going on and understands what they're feeling, although you would only learn that if Kazuomi is talking to MC alone, or through a special PoV of his. So, the reasons why he's more absent in their trio lately is either for practical or intentional purposes to me.
We are only going to learn this about Kazuomi in one of his next main stories, but it was heavily hinted in the latest MK event that Kazuomi is only acting as a "Kazuomi Shido" persona in public. What I mean by that is that Kazuomi's extravagant, full-of-life nature might be, for the most part, an act he has put on for a long time. Maybe even in front of Yuzu and Kei.
If I mention this, it's because I'm thinking that deep down, Kazuomi being distant and more of an observer is due to him wanting to see how his friends will play their own game. I'm not sure yet if this is what this is, but it's very possible that Kazuomi wants to take revenge on someone, such as his father or people linked to him, and Kazuomi might bet his life in a gamble against them in the process.
He knows what it's like to be destroyed and to want revenge, and so he probably takes a step back to let Yuzu and Kei accomplish what they need against their own enemies. Kazuomi likes a good show, and while of course he's not a monster who gets a kick out of seeing his friends suffer, he'll let them decide and act for themselves while watching over them.
I do agree with you though and think that Kazuomi should appear a bit more in their routes, because at the end of the day, all three of them have a similar past. They've all known poverty, been separated from their parents, been adopted, and now live a life of luxury full of people who only approach them with ulterior motives.
I don't think Yuzuru and Kei are closer by any means. Aside from sharing the same writer, it's a matter of different dynamics and personalities. Kei and Yuzuru have known despair a little bit earlier compared to Kazuomi (they were both 8 or 9) while Kazuomi was a teenager according to the Revenge event.
In terms of personality, Kazuomi also always gives off this aura of always being in control of things, right? Like it'd take a special person to outwit him. He's always chill, unbothered, even laughing actually. He's very free-spririted and often wanders off to God knows where to do this own thing. He's unpredictable and in a way, seems less reliable when it comes to serious subjects (even though deep down they all know they can rely on him).
He gives off this vibe of being strong on his own, never needing anyone's help. While for Kei and Yuzuru, they both share a vulnerability that's a bit more visible in them. They both are able to recognize each other's weakness which makes them want to help the other. They probably are unable to see Kazuomi's weakness because he conceals it so well, compared to them, is what I'm saying.
Ultimately, I'd also love to see more of Kazuomi in their routes since it's more fun and meaningful for the trio to be together, but I'm not forgetting that at least for Kei, Kazuomi is canonically an important person for him too and not just Yuzu. I'm about to know more about Kazuomi in Yuzu's latest stories soon too once I'm done catching up, but I already know they share the same bond. Kazuomi is so funny and so helpful to his friends, it'd be a shame to completely overlook him and mislead people into thinking he's less important to Kei and Yuzu!!
I'm planning on posting character analyses for Masquerade Kiss someday, and I've already started with Yuzuru, but maybe I'll make a post about their friendship and trio too once I'm done with those!
Thank you for the ask! and I'm sorry I talk so much

Sailor Moon Thoughts - i know i'm 10yrs late but Crystal's not that bad actually
so i recently got back into sailor moon
grew up on the english dub 90s anime (watch the jpn sub in 9th grade)
had only read the manga once in the past and that was in college; however i just recently bought the first 2 volumes of the collector's edition (just finished V2 actually!)
but this is my first time watching Crystal (mostly bc when it was first coming out there was so much backlash and hate and it made me turn away from it)
now that i've read volumes 1&2 and watched S1 i gotta say...when compared to the manga Crystal's honestly not that bad and i'd say overall pretty faithful
Spoilers for Sailor Moon Crystal!
Usagi and Mamoru
first thing's first! mamoru's age is fixed! fucking yay!
in both the manga and crystal he's a 16yr old 2nd year high school kid! not a 1st year college student dating at 14yr old little girl! he and usagi compliment each other and it really shows in crystal imo
90s-SM fleshes out this couple individually more in the first season and i'm in love with that and they have some really sweet moments and i still ship it ofc i do BUT the age difference got so iffy and squeakable for me when watching again as a grown ass adult!
some of usagi's emotional intelligence is downplayed and she sometimes comes off as even younger than she is and that makes the ship feel uneven and i just keep thinking "there he goes off with his child bride 👋🏽" and it really doesn't help that they animated mamoru looking so much older and acting like a mature 20-something (even tho yes, he's closer to 18 but an 18yr old dating a 14yr old is still so squeakable to me)
the manga is where this ship thrives and it's more believable that they fall for each other especially bc they're on more equal footing but crystal adds in a scene in S1 that i personally love that's when sailor moon and tuxedo mask are fighting zoisite toward the middle of the season (before venus shows up)
i'm massively paraphraseing but in this scene usagi doesn't just tell but shows mamoru through her tears and pained expression that she understands he's deeply lonely and that it hurts her, she doesn't want that for him, she wants to do everything in her power to make sure he never feels that way again
and mamoru tells her that SHE is everything he wants and he doesn't need a magical stone to find out who he is and where he belongs not when she's standing beside him bc her strength and kindness are inspiring and he's not afraid or lonely when around her
"i won't let you be alone anymore" / "seeing your strength makes me so happy" couples are my downfall and this scene cracks me right open
and this is BEFORE they regain their memories i'm fucking dead!
5/5🌙
English Dub
i vaguely remember ppl shitting on the English dub of Crystal and yes i watched it in Japanese first but the English dub is actually really great?! especially when compared to the 90's English dub!! i love Usagi's VA and i think all the voices match the characters pretty well
4.5/5🌙
The Transformations and Character Designs
okay so those 3D transformations are bad
the animation is really jarring at first and yeah it's not good i don't like it but after a while you just sort of...idk get used to it and it's not a make-or-break thing imo now did the 90s anime do it better? fuck yeah! but by the end of the season i just felt meh about them and barely cared
1/5🌙
i remember the character designs getting A. LOT. of hate and yeah i agree that they are too sharp and angular and that the manga was more a cross between the 90s and crystal character designs - but that's another thing you get used to and also doesn't that get fixed later?
plus idk i kind like that both animated versions each take one end of the spectrum with the manga in the middle 🤷🏾‍♀️
2/5🌙
The Big One
okay now the big one - the supposed past love between the 4 heavenly kings and the inner planet guardians that wasn't in the manga and definitely not in the 90s version where these guys are handled more interestingly
i think this subby-subplot that's not even really a subplot is stupid and doesn't amount to anything and doesn't actually make a ton of sense if earthlings and...and moonlings being together is forbidden the serenity had to SNEAK AWAY to see her earth prince and it does sort of take away some of the tragedy that is serenity and endymion's doomed love
like i was going "what was the point of that" when the kings all die and the sailor girls are weeping for 2secs before getting back to busniess and i get wanting to expand more on all 8 of these characters, but that's not how you do it - 90s-SM expanded on these characters better because plot points were stretched out and we got to know the characters more slowly over a longer period of time (plus 2 of the kings were lovers! that's cute as hell!!)
basically this whole thing was shoved into the story last minute with very minimal build up barely any conclusion and it's really uninteresting
0.3/5🌙 (only bc venus dropping a few hints every few episodes was done well enough-ish but it was still stupid in the end and shouldn't have been included the way it was)
Conclusion
even with that though crystal still isn't that bad - overall it's actually pretty good and i love experiencing the manga coming to animated live
the OST is beautiful! and even tho NOTHING tops the 90s theme song that crystal usamamo love theme is fucking gorgeous 😍 in fact all the music in crystal is top teir imo
i do miss the focus on the female friendship tho and kinda wish crystal took some of that 90s-SM female friendship focus BUT 90s-SM just had so much more time to work with and at the end of the day SM is a romance so i understand why the anime adapting the manga more closely focused on the romance more heavily (and that usamamo scene i talked about above is still so. damn. good!)
anyway if you're like me and didn't bother watching crystal bc the hate and backlash when it first came out i say give it a try
it's still cute and still sailor moon and so far it's getting a 4/5🌙
i'll probably do another one of these when i finish S2 (jon and eng) and the volumes it adapted

Okay so this is very obvious of me but, do you have any Dreamlan Rush headcanons?
HI HI sorry this took a while !!!! heres your hcs broski :3
🍣Dreamland Rush💤
hondo LOVES taking sandman to anime conventions. Yes they've cosplayed characters together before. Their favorites to cosplay are sailor moon characters and tokyo mew mew. They've both gone as Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask before as well !!
Considering Sandman's status as world champion, he's always a little bit of a celebrity wherever hondo goes. Not that Hondo doesn't have his fair share of fans, but come on. World Champion!
Sandman loves doing some friendly banter with Hondo, it's his way of showing affection. Hondo does the same now thanks to him, but also shows affection through acts of service, like cooking meals for him !!
Hondo also often does shopping for sandman. Sandman, like bull, often gets hounded too much by the press. Hondo less so.
Hondo has a habit of throwing sushi in the air n catching it in his mouth. Sandman CAN'T resist sometimes grabbing that sushi from above him and eating it. What's Hondo gonna do? Climb him?
''This sushi's mine, Hondo baby, and you ain't never gonna take it.''
They're both pretty introverted people, and like spending their time talking ab books and poetry together.
How'd they confess ? at the same time ! Hondo faced sandman head on and recited a poem he wrote for him. sandman didn't rly prepare anything in advance. His plan was to just walk up to hondo and be straight to the point.
Hondo loves holding sandman's head in his lap and petting his hair. Sandman has fallen asleep a dozen times through it.
Hondo has a tendency to stay up writing poetry or otherwise doing art (we've all been there). Sandman sometimes has to CARRY hondo to bed because he refuses to get up.
''But Im nearly done w/ this po-''
''You said that two hours ago, BEDTIME.''
They're so night owl x early bird vibes.
Hondo LOVES horror, sandman at the other hand can't stand it, it's the type of stuff that keeps him awake at night. Sure, he might be an intimidating man who can defend himself, but monsters n murderers still scare the crap out of him !!!

Just uploaded another old fic to ao3!
Secret Identities Are Complicated - Elizabeta Héderváry has a secret: she's the Pretty Guardian known as Sailor Moon! What's not so secret: she's in love with the mysterious Tuxedo Mask. Meanwhile Gilbert Beilschmidt also has a secret: he's in love with Elizabeta. What's a secret even to himself: he's actually Tuxedo Mask! What happens when he gets jealous of his forgotten secret identity?
(PruHun, other characters include Belarus and Seychelles, Hetalia/Sailor Moon crossover, human/school au, rated G, no archive warnings apply, 6 chapters + bonus chapter of art)
This fic will always be one of my favorites just because it's hilarious to me that Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask take sooo long to find out each other's identities in the anime but in the case of PruHun it's not that they're totally oblivious, it's just that they really wouldn't want to believe the other is actually a cool superhero?? And with Gil it's like... my dude... you are jealous of yourself??
Anyway, enjoy!

analyzing some costumes that were definitely only meant to be a fun recognizable character with little substance
Tumblr media
note: it's been a while since I watched sailor moon so please correct me if I get something wrong
first, because I see this misunderstood a lot, damara is not a member of the lost weaboos. she's originally from the eastern provinces, and lives in the forest next to them. I've seen analysis on the peter pan themes that she's tinkerbell in the story, and similarly tinkerbell is not a lost boy, she just lives near them
Tumblr media
because of that, I don't think damara has a particular interest in anime like rufioh. she doesn't dislike it or anything, but it's not a big deal to her. but early pre-game she'd go along with what he wants. which means rufioh would've been the one to pick these costumes, so analysis would be more about how he sees the relationship or what he wants it to be like
so... sailor moon was designed for an audience of young/adolescent girls. however, within pop culture especially in america the sailor scouts were seen as sex objects a lot of the time. they are not meant to be depicted that way in the show at all, but there was a section of teenage boys watching only because there were a bunch of pretty girls in short skirts
Tumblr media
(lyrics from One Week by Barenaked Ladies)
there's a weird combination of infantilization and sexualization happening with damara within the text and I feel like some of that could apply. someone more knowledge than me should be the one to speak on it though
usagi and mamoru have struggles but at the end of the day they're destined to be together. they literally meet their daughter from the future at the start of season 2 they know they have to end up together. and that's probably comforting to rufioh, that even though there's all these struggles things will still magically work themselves out.
usagi is very childish, which makes sense since she's 14 but that's very much a major trait she has. she's lazy and impulsive and gets jealous easily.
mamoru is tuxedo mask, and the main thing about him is that his goal is to help sailor moon. rufioh was the leader of the lost boys but didn't see himself as some big hero. so he'd maybe like to see himself as some guy who wasn't the lead and took more of a backseat in the story, only showing up when needed to help the heroes.
there also something about the fact that usagi looks up to tuxedo mask because he seems like he knows everything compared to damara putting rufioh on a pedestal vs usagi thinking mamoru is a jerk and annoying compared to damara being tired with rufioh being childish and dishonest
Tumblr media
there's also the fact that usagi and mamoru have an age gap. in the begining of the manga, usagi is 14 and mamoru is 16. in the anime, usagi is 14 and mamoru is 17, but he's also in a grade level that is usually for 18 year olds. I'm not mentioning this to bring in sailor moon discourse though. I'm mentioning it because of the fact that rufioh hit on aradiabot who is 13.
I don't really have a conclusion on this, but I do think there's something interesting going on with all this. maybe someone else can add more thoughts at some point lol

Asha x Falena headcanons
Some stuff about the royal couple 👑
Tumblr media
They're the classic childhood friends to lovers. Have known each other all their lives. Their mothers had always wanted to arrange for them to marry but never put it to paper or really brought the matter up till they were much older. As a result they grew up very close.
When Asha was away attending WAI, Falena used to write, call, send packages, everything he could. He heard horrors of long distance relationships not working and the fear of Asha finding someone else was real for him.
But whenever he was able to visit her or Asha came home for breaks, they spent whatever time they could together.
When they were younger, Asha was the more rebellious of the two and used to sneak Falena out to all sorts of places from conventions to clubs they also had to sneak into.
The only time they took any sort of break was in the couple years Asha was away doing her internship and studying law, while Falena found he had to take on more and more responsibilities to aid his father. They were both so busy that it was a mutual agreement to focus on themselves for a bit.
It wasn't until Asha went home for the coronation of Falena after his father had stepped down did they come back together. They were talking one night at the palace and Falena mentioned how the advisors wanted him to find a queen and produceing an heir soon. Ashas only reply was that she was right here. Falena, figuring she would say that, brought out a ring from his pocket he had been carrying since hearing she was coming home, and proposed then and there.
They are, without exaggeration, the Sunset Savannah equivalent of Gomez and Morticia. Falena is obsessed and madly in love with his wife and vice versa.
They are very affectionate. In public it's a lot more laid back. Falena usually has a hand on Ashas waist or shoulders. Or Asha is holding onto his arm or them holding hands. There's is a whole side of Magicam that is just pictures of them out and about. With captions like "He doesn't look at me with this level of adoration I don't want him" amoung other things.
In the privacy of their residence though, it is cranked to a ten. Asha always sits on Falenas lap. Falena lays on her chest. Hugging each other from behind. It's like they always need to be around each other. Leona is especially sick of it, especially when Asha smacks Falenas butt right in front of him. He is appalled.
They do couples costumes every year for Halloween. Gomez and Morticia. Frankenstein and the bride. Sailor moon and tuxedo mask. Even when Asha just feels like dipping her toes back into cosplay, Falena will dress up with her, she doesn't even need to ask. Or at the very least, be on the sidelines holding her stuff while the photographer takes pictures.
They are both equally very affectionate with Cheka. But he is a mamas boy through and through. He always wants to snuggle with Asha for a nap or if he can't sleep and Falena has a whole folder on his phone of just them sleeping or cuddling. His background is a photo of Asha and Cheka napping.

Tag ppl you want to get to know better
Tagged by @myreia - thank you!!!
LAST SONG: so I meant to go to my history to figure out what it was but forgot and by the time I did it changed so uh, haha 'Hozier - 'Francesca'
CURRENTLY WATCHING: Sousou no Frieren, Dungeon Meshi
THREE SHIPS: Ohboyokay let's see. Obviously I have a ton, but three.
Mana & Belial: These two are everything to me. This is me and the besties pandemic ship, we started text RPing with them while I was up north in 2019 and then everything spiraled. They were originally GBF characters but they've jumped to so many different universes and become full blown OCs by this point. They're enemies-to-lovers, they're 'I'll find you in every life time', they're unapologetically horny, they give me so much joy and happiness I could vomit rainbows.
Ahru & Deryk: This is probably pretty obvious if you've been following me at all. Ahru has a lot of ships I could ramble about for an age but this is the one I'm rotating in my brain 24/7 these days. I love how they fit together, I love how they get to experience the world all fresh and new, free of their burdens, together. aughghghg anyway. (Holds up boombox blasting 'Francesca' by Hozier)
Ahru & Arshadaya: This is like, my sleeper ship. Like Thanahru it's kinda present in every Ahru verse, but more. They're platonic, they're romantic, they're inextricably linked in ways that should be concerning and even questionable but it works for them. Arsh wanted to meld with Ahru's soul ('to save Nyx') before he inevitably accepted her as herself instead of 'Azem's Shard' and swore that same loyalty and devotion to her that he did Nyx. To the extent that when she got chopped up by the Servants of Light he sacrificed a good portion of himself to restore her, only adding to the 'inextricably linked in concerning questionable ways'. As a result he's in like a magical coma that could last gods knows how long but he maintains a link with Ahru continuing to protect and watch over her even now. They've basically fused into one being but he sleeps on the sidelines because her happiness and continued existence is the most important thing to him. :''')
FAVORITE COLOR: Light Pinks, Red
CURRENTLY CONSUMING: Just had a brownie 😌
FIRST SHIP: Geez... I mean probably Sailor Moon/Tuxedo Mask. Hilariously I feel like I've been a self-shipper + ocxfandom shipper from a young age because I remember my little saiyan oc I shipped with Trunks way back when. 🤣
PLACE OF BIRTH: USA
CURRENT LOCATION: Nope. 😘 (Seconded)
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single
LAST MOVIE: Geez I can't remember... I honestly have such a hard time watching movies. I watched a few parts of 'When Harry Met Sally' when mom had it on T.V. a few days ago???
CURRENTLY WORKING ON:
I Will Share Your Road - Ahru x Deryk screens set about their journey around Eorzea post-Myths of the Realm
The Road Ahead - tentative name for a fic of the same scenario above. Mostly a lot of all over the place drabbles at the moment.
Miqomarch X'D I'm trying to get ahead a bit for when I'm away on vacation.
[name pending] original work about faeries and shit, inspired by the Elfhame series by Holly Black. Has been put grievously on the back burner because of XIV brainworms.
Tagging: @icehearts, @eorzeanflowers, @uldahstreetrat, @twelveswood (i know you but i'm tagging you anyway teehee) - no pressure though and if you've already done it please ignore me 😂

Fic Writer Asks
Been a minute since I crawled out of my cave here, but an ask game remains the best way for me to do so. Thanks for the tag, @folklauerate!
How many works do you have on AO3?
21. Here they are so I don't have to link them all below.
What's your total AO3 word count?
107,797
What fandoms do you write for?
I was vehemently a one-fandom (Sailor Moon) person until Bridgerton season 2 came crashing into my life. I've accepted being a two-fandom writer now, but it's still weird.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
These are skewed because the Bridgerton fandom is bigger, so, by fandom:
Bridgerton: Follow the Sparks, An Involuntary Thing, Unframeable, Mine to Keep Warm, Canis caminan non est
Sailor Moon: Belonging, Familial Eyes, Win a Date with Tuxedo Mask!, Contrition, What Wasn't Said
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I definitely try to, but I fall behind. I like the fandom engagement piece of responding to comments and talking to friends and readers, but when it becomes an expectation at the expense of my sanity, I let myself off the hook. That's generally the approach that has worked best for me with all things fandom-related. This is supposed to be a hobby, not a chore.
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Contrition.
Do you get hate on fics?
Haven't gotten anything I would really describe as hate yet, but I have gotten some "this is boring" comments, and just recently had someone decide my comment section was the ideal place to talk about current world events. I do think it's absurd that we live in a world where I had to turn comment moderation on because of this.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
It's not my main focus, but yes. I'm not sure what it says about me that smut writing comes more easily to me in Bridgerton writing than it ever did in Sailor Moon writing.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Nope!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Hard nope!
What's your all-time favorite ship?
I think it has to be a tie between Kanthony and Usamamo. Usamamo has the stronger history, being that I've shipped it since I was 11, and while I'm not super active in that fandom right now (tbh is anyone?), I won't be at all surprised if/when I get inspired to dive back in. Kanthony pulled me in the same way Usamamo did, so I can't not include them here.
What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Given my update speed, I tend to lean towards "never say never", but things don't look good for that Contrition sequel I've been banging on about since 2019.
What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm pretty good with dialogue; it comes more easily to me than all the other moving pieces. Went through a phase during which my writing got compared to poetry a lot, but I don't think I've been able to pull that off in any of my Bridgerton work yet.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I can tell you they're all tied to perfectionism -- speed, anything that happens in between dialogue making things sound pretty instead of dry and academic (damn that too many years of schooling), over-explaining things, and writing the same damn kiss the same damn way multiple times.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for fic?
Lol tell me you came of age in the 2000s without telling me. I would sprinkle it into Sailor Moon stuff, but there's a fine line between "this is useful" and "this reads like a geocities fanfic site from 1999." I haven't done it with Bridgerton just because I don't know enough, but I'll definitely ask @folklauerate and @hydriotaphia if I ever do!
First fandom you wrote for?
Sailor Moon when I was very, very, very young (cool that an eighth-grader did this, but not cool enough to show to anyone ever).
Favorite fic you've ever written?
-The Benedict chapter of An Involuntary Thing
-Despite a whole host of issues, 5 Years
This was fun and took me back! Tagging @kasienda, @penny-loaf, and @daikon1

Hey ludy, do you know any other characters with the same vibes/style as Gambit?
You know, I had a good long think about this (several weeks of thinking, as it turns out!), and really, I don't think there's any other character I can think of who has the exact same vibes as Gambit, although there are other characters who have elements of his personality that I have liked.
I'll give you a list of male characters I've liked from other franchises, and you can judge whether they're like Gambit in any way. 😆
Buddy Blue from Rainbow Brite (hey, I was a kid, and I don't remember this at all, but my dad always used to say I had a thing about Buddy Blue when I was, like, 5).
Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon
Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII
Lee Chaolan from Tekken
Faramir from Lord of the Rings (the books; the movies butchered Faramir's character)
Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil
That's all I can think of right now. There are probably more, I just can't remember. @jeannedarcprice, help me out here, was there anyone else????

All I got for Seiji’s AoA is that it’s very fairytale prince a bit Beauty and The Beast bit Sailor Moon( He looks if they heard that Joker is Tuxedo Mask and said You want a Tuxedo Mask Thief we’ll give you one.
It can even be a reference to Magic Kaito with his habit of giving ladies flowers and depending on the canon red roses.
His family life also reminds me of Shechi’s but unfortunately worse say what you will about Mr. and Mrs. Kudo at least they never made him feel like bird in a gilded cage.
Haha, yeah, his AOA finisher has that sort of romantic, Tuxedo Mask-type vibe, which I'd definitely credit to the rose as much as anything. If I'd only seen his AOA and knew nothing else, I'd say he seems like the kind of character who would appear on the princess/main female character's balcony, charm her, then whisk her away into the night for an adventure. Which I'm pretty sure is the vibe he's supposed to be going for, though knowing Seiji I think there's another layer or two to it, haha.
Clearly, we just had to check off the list on that one. Had to have a Phantom Thief who hands out flowers.
Honestly, though, if there's any character in Persona 5 that I'd say has parents that remind me of Shinichi's (I believe that's who you meant here?), it'd be Ann's, hands-down. They're canonically traveling countries for work (though in their case, fashion shows) and she doesn't see them very often, much like the Kudos. I guess Wonder's throwing his mask into the ring as well here though, considering the texts he gets from his mom about his own parents traveling abroad?

Sailor Moon ficcage thoughts
So, I originally had access just to the Miss Dream fan translation of the manga (Sailor Moon in whole, plus Sailor V and side stories) and I do still have that. Back in the day I watched the 90's dubs on Cartoon Network though of course they never released Stars so, incomplete even if I'd managed to watch it every day.
Now, I have access to Crystal and I've watched some of it (almost the first two seasons) but I'd need a re-watch if I was to write something from it.
Now, here's the thing:
I have kicked around the idea of writing a Sailor Moon fanfic / series for an age and here's what I would do in a perfect world -- a canon divergent fic series broken up by era and driven by two things. One, a more realistic reaction of the senshi to their trauma. (Yeah automatically darker than my usual, but prime for hurt/comfort.) So that would affect their personality a (extended to Mamoru and you have so much going on between the accident that killed his parents, his loner lifestyle while somehow taking on the mantle of Tuxedo Mask chasing a dream in utter desperation.
Also unfridging the Shitennou, because they're interesting characters who deserve exploration. Also Mamoru deserves the moral support and deep friendships and because, quite frankly, I am an avid Senshi/Shitennou shipper and I want it. #good enough
I also want to explore the family bonds of the Senshi especially. There's just no way they didn't notice changes in the girls and I really like the idea of them knowing and doing something about it.
Leave me a comment / reblog with comments / hit up my ask. You can also add to the poll below. Thanks!
Thanks again!
