task: answer the following question. do you believe in curses? respond as completely with relevant information as possible.
Grian: Well, that's a lie. This isn't a task. I know it's not a task, I set the things up! Not sure why we're getting a question as pointless as this one, but sure, mysterious scroll, I'll answer. There's no such thing as curses, unless you're Timmy, in which case it's funny, yeah? Besides, I didn't actually kill Etho. Even if that did count, self-fulfilling prophecies aren't the same thing as curses, and I know which one I fall under.
Joel: Do I believe in bloody curses what kind of question is that? Do I really get hearts just for answering this? This feels like a prank or something... well, whatever. There are no such thing as curses, except the Boogeyman curse, which I sort of had today, but it wasn't actually the same at all. A lot of the bloodlust, sure, but a lot more... Etho had to be the one to do it, huh? And it's not the same. Not comforting. That's a stupid thing to say actually. Take it out of wherever you're putting this. Cut it out of the recording. Comforting. Please. As if it were ever... Yeah, I'm done actually. Don't have a good answer. Go away.
Scott: What, other than Jimmy? Bless that man, he may not have died first, but he sure tried his best. Sure, I'll believe Jimmy is cursed. I mean, mostly he's just kind of stupid. Lovingly so. I mean, despite him being stupid, I put up with him, right? That seems like a complete answer to this question. Jimmy's an omen but we put up with him anyway. That's all.
Mumbo: NO RESPONSE GIVEN.
Pearl: Oh, I mean, I'm probably cursed. That's what everyone liked to say at one point. I think... I mean, I think this time I have good friends, which is nice. They don't think I'm cursed. And it's not like I--I mean, it's surprisingly fun, acting cursed! And I am just acting. Acting scary, blowing up dance floors, all of that. And I don't really have to this time, so... Maybe I'm not cursed? And since it's acting, it's not real? This is a weird question.
Etho: Oh, man, that's a question. Um, do I have to answer? Because I feel like if I say no, that's really just asking for it, but if I say yes, I have to explain myself. Uh, I think I'm abstaining, unless the zombie thing from earlier counts. That was scary and I hated it. Curses are scary and I hate them in general, but apparently I'm good at them, if you ask everyone else. Um, it's not the only thing I find scary that apparently I'm good at.
Scar: Why, of course I believe in curses! Look at poor, poor... Timbert? Timmy? Jim? Gosh, sorry, I'm very tired right now. That's more proof of curses, by the way! That I'm tired. I've been tired straight since the desert, let me tell you what. And that, my friends, is a curse like no other. What a terrible beast, loneliness is. Wish me luck breaking it, because it's not happening this season!
Cleo: Oh, you mean the thing people like to blame instead of their own actions? Nah. My soulbond was kind of a curse, I guess, but even that's at least half just... bad people. Bad relationships. Good ones, too. We're all just doing what you can, you know? No script, no curses, no characters, just... Oh, I hope everything turns out tomorrow. Sorry, that's unrelated. It's just nicer to hope than to preemptively blame things on curses that don't exist.
Impulse: Well, I mean, I didn't until you just asked me that, but now I feel like I should. Wouldn't that be nice? Being cursed instead of just sort of unlovable? Sorry, no, that's mean to Gem. I shouldn't say that about Gem, she's been good this season. Super, super cursed, mind you, in the like, game mechanic sense? But she's been good, no backstabbing or inability to get love involved. Um, and I guess that's not fair to Bdubs, kind of, except it also totally is and I haven't forgiven him. So I guess if they ask I said I believed in curses, and that's why my life keeps circling clocks? Don't put any of that other stuff down, I'm trying to work on that.
Lizzie: NO RESPONSE GIVEN.
Gem: I was just cursed for a task, but that probably isn't what you're asking about, right? I'm new, so I don't know! A task is a concrete thing to believe in, like bloodshed or victory or fun and games. You don't have to believe in those to know they're real, either! They just are, whether you like it or not. I understand that much!
Tango: Gah, don't talk to me about... Deep breaths. Look, I don't care if it's a curse, or if it's just me being really bad, or what, I'm not going out pointlessly this time. Jimmy managed not to die first, I can manage to not go out to a stray arrow or my own bomb or a misstep this time, right? Is that so much to ask?
Skizz: Huh? Curses? I mean, I don't think so, and to be totally honest I think it's kind of mean the way people sometimes rag on people about them. Everyone's got so many good things about them! Why do people like to focus on the unfortunate luck, huh?
Bdubs: Hah! Curses! Let me tell you about curses. When I see curses, I eat them for breakfast. I don't got curses, I've got better things to do! I've got my buddies with the Mounders, and I've got-well, I'd say keeping Etho safe, but he's being weird at me again this season. Not that it matters. It never matters. Etho and I, we're... The point is, that doesn't matter anyway, because I have the Mounders, and they're the ones who matter here. And because I'm a strong, independent Bdubs, who doesn't need anyone but my bow and my perfect, flawless fighting prowess! Sorry, what was the question? I've been thinking so much lately that it's just sort of made everything else pop out of my head, so it's hard to keep track. I'm sure I answered it flawlessly, though.
Martyn: Of course there are curses. That's half the fun for you lot, isn't it? Putting your little curses on us and watching us rail against them. Bet you think it's real cute to ask us what we think of the things, too. "Oh, what do you think of curses," like we have any control over them. Please. If I had any control over curses, Jimmy--or, well, no, I guess that one was technically broken, wasn't it? Sure doesn't feel like it. Point is, curses are bad, and they're definitely real, and I hate you for them, got it?
BigB: Look, man, if you're trying to get me to write my character out for you, just say so! I won't tell anyone. We can come up with a hole thing about holes and red tasks and the Backrooms together! It'll be fun! After all, you probably don't know what kind of curse to say I have, right? Haha, just kidding. I have no idea what I'm talking about. Luckily, neither does anyone else, so I think that evens out between the lot of us.
Jimmy: NO RESPONSE GIVEN.

Something I think people are missing when they talk about the whole Day 12 thing with Tubbo and Bad is that Tubbo is just like that sometimes, especially with people he’s close to. Depending on how you look at it that's not necessarily better or worse, but I think it’s an important factor because so much of the recent BBH Purgatory discussion is about how he’s singled out and that’s something Tubbo would do to anyone. He’ll get a minor irritation stuck in his head just as hard as a major problem and then refuse to let it go. The amount of ranting he does isn’t always an accurate measure of how important it is to him and “I’m still on this” (or any variation) is practically his catchphrase. I’m not trying to downplay in-character analysis, it’s a trait of both streamer and character, but it’s something you might not realize if you don’t watch Tubbo very often.
Yeah, this is also a part of it. Tubbo is very passionate about things, and sometimes those things are minor grudges that he gets stuck on for no good reason just because it’s fun for him to get annoyed at them and rant. But this is more of a cc! part of things than in character one (tho all of Tubbo’s characters also have this trait more or less).
For me, I really think it’s because Tubbo is very frustrated with the Day 12 itself, and out of everything that went wrong Bad dying is the only concrete moment he can single out. Because Quackity dying doesn’t really count in lore because he wasn’t there really (which is such bullshit btw, this is my Day 12 Roman Empire, Quackity’s death SHOULDN’T have influenced the percentage) and anyone else wasn’t there either to do the quests, for objective irl reason, so q!Tubbo also can’t really be mad at them and also who would he be mad with out of everyone on the team absent? All of them? Choose a specific person?
Meanwhile Bad was there and he died after doing something Tubbo told him not to (note: this is neutral, I am not discussing right now the moment itself and how justified Bad going in was). So it’s a concrete thing that he can blame on the percentage loss without it being meta or ‘why are you mad at me and not the others who did the same’. And it was really hard emotionally day for him, the combination of cc!Tubbo (well, q!Tubbo too but for the sake of the point we will count it as more of a cc! trait) being very competitive and q!Tubbo genuinely believing that Soulfire is cursed and that they absolutely must win this day to tie (I am pretty sure he believed it was the last day that counts? But I might be wrong) or (later) to win the Purgatory and save all the Eggs (which was his one and only goal truly, he was really clear about not straying from it even when it felt that a lot of characters forgot what it’s all for). So he singled Bad out and concentrated on it as the sole reason they lost Day 12, seething.
Now, for cc!Tubbo it’s mostly a bit, even if he acts genuinely ’not over this’, he is just having fun. And q!Tubbo may still have this grudge, but overall it does not outweigh his newfound comradery with Bad and respect for him. But q!Tubbo is also very much a Negative Nancy, he LOVES to just rant about stuff that ‘annoys’ him and get on his friends nerves. Like he find a thing and just keeps pushing it (ex: Bagi’s ‘incest’ tendencies, everything concerning Fitpac, Phil’s age and a lot of other stuff, Foolish and ‘you made it awkward now’, etc) and Day 12 is his thing for Bad along with cursing/inappropriate jokes.
Do I think it’s fair to q!Bad? When /srs – no; when /lh – yes, because it’s funny. Do I think it can count as an example of how people keep blaming Bad for everything about Purgatory? Yes. Do I think it’s actually the same as with other characters? Not at all.
All the other prominent negative after-Purgatory characterizations of Bad are concentrated on him being a bloodthirsty monster that terrorized everyone (only partially true and definitely not unique to his character). Meanwhile Tubbo never really talked about Bad being a ‘monster’ in Purgatory (afterwards) in any negative light as far as I remember, it was always very neutral. Or at least not blaming him for it. His grudge is a completely my teammate did a dumb thing so I will forever remind him it. Which tho still unfair is not hypocritical when what other characters do.
Obviously this is just my take on the situation, everyone can perceive it a bit differently, especially because I am writing this as a Tubbo main, so my view on things is skewed towards him.

Hi! So I was going through your snape tag (btw sorry for the million notifications you probably got), and I noticed you weren’t very much a fan way back on the early days of your blog. Feel free to completely ignore this if you don’t feel like answering (it is truly none of my business), but I’m always fond of hearing people’s “how I came to like this character” or “why I changed my mind about this character” stories and I was wondering what yours was :)
Hiii! Thanks for the ask! (No worries on the notification spam lol) and I appreciate that you reached out!
Yes! I think he was one of the characters I had the most difficulty empathizing with because I had such a strong, emotional reaction to him. Especially after OotP forward. He's divisive! (Also looking back through my Snape tag has me internally cringing a bit with how little grace I extended to the poor guy...ah well. With age/maturity comes wisdom...? D: )
I'm ngl, after reviewing some of the earlier posts, my immediate reaction is to delete them as my opinions have definitely changed, but maybe it's good to leave it as a record of my evolving mindset towards the character? lol
Ok, so what changed?
Well, it certainly helps I'm now closer to adult Snape's age from Book 1 than Harry's age when I was first reading the HP series as it was being published. I didn't give much thought to Snape beyond he was a mean teacher and a bully, for the first four books at least.
I got into the HP fandom around when GoF had been released so I was discovering plenty of fanfic and fan meta. Snape was one of the more ... well ... fans reactions to him that liked him or even wrote him sexually with the cast confused middle-school me, to be honest. I was more interested in the child characters than the adults, so I was vaguely aware of how he was portrayed in fandom but didn't really engage.
This changed after OotP was released, and we finally got some explicit Severus Snape backstory and history with the Occlumency lessons. I had a really an emotional reaction to SWM and some of the memories we got a glimpse of. I was empathetic and not completely surprised to learn Snape was from an abusive home, that he had possible trauma and issues that explained his actions and why he was so cold and angry. Like Harry, I was really disappointed in how his father and Sirius treated Snape. There's just no excuse for how they sought him out to pick on him for fun. I was on Harry's side with confronting Sirius and Lupin about how his dad and they acted.
Also, I read everything with shipper eyes, and immediately felt there was more to Severus and Lily's relationship beyond her just coming over and reacting to James actions lol. They called Jily a crack!ship but it looks like they were validated in the end lol.
However what really made me emotionally react with anger was that we are basically being shown that Severus knows what it's like to be a scared child being abused and tormented by authority figures and other children, but he does it to his students?? I could not understand his actions at a time but I would get genuinely angry when I did think about it. To child me, this felt like a betrayal, both for a fictional character and when actual people did this. Looking back I was reacting so strongly due to my own personal experience with trauma in the home and with authority figures abusing children.
I recall not caring much about him in HBP or DH. I was much more upset with Sirius' death than Dumbledore's, so Snape's "betrayal" was just not something I recall reacting emotionally to. In DH, I definitely remember reading his memories and just feeling irritated with him. To me, he was a guy with trauma and emotional issues, sure, but I felt his behavior towards Harry, Hermione, and Neville was not excused for me. At most I felt begrudging respect for him and acknowledged he was not a completely terrible person. Harry naming one of his son's after him felt so bizarre, and I just could not understand why Harry wanted to honor him. Forgive him, sure I could understand Harry doing that, but naming his child after Snape just left me feeling confused. I could not understand how Snape could have loved Lily so much, but treated her son like he did.
I know I'm basically rambling, but it really has been a journey. :P
When I grew out of HP and the fandom after DH was published, I never gave much thought to him or his circumstances until I (unexpectedly) returned to the HP fandom last summer. I reread all of the books as an adult and I had the life experience and maturity to understand that:
A) Snape was funny! A lot funnier than I remember.
B) His actions throughout the book were too subtle for teenage me, but they made me really question my previous feelings for the character.
C) Everyone Dumbledore was kind of terrible to him!
I read a lot of really well written meta on the characters and HP. Specifically I think it was @pet-genius posts on reddit I found that really helped me put my thoughts and feelings regarding HP, primarily Harry, in order. And I can't help but compare and contrast Harry and Severus as characters and how they each approach their trauma and grief.
@ashesandhackles metas on Snape was also really helpful in highlighting the examples in the text that showed how Snape's actions sometimes directly contradict with what he said, especially to Harry. He's always presenting himself as this cold and controlled person, disparaging emotional reactions and connections. Yet he's one of the most emotionally reactive characters in the series next to Harry!
I was able to see clearer a lot of things I liked about him. That he's an incredibly skilled and hardworking person. That he cares very deeply for people he does allow himself to have feelings for and connections to. That he was scared, so scared, probably all the time after Voldemort's return to power, but he never wavered in his determination to continue to show up and fulfill his duty. Him making the Vow with Narcissa to try to protect Draco. The incredible pain he must have been in when he used the Killing Curse on Dumbledore, the one person left that knew everything about him and still valued him. That he dies keeping silent about the Elder Wand ownership, protecting Draco from becoming Voldemort's next target.
I also viewed his relationship with Lily as so much more complex than unrequited love. There's a meta out there (I will edit this post and link it if I find it again) that argues Snape wasn't really in love with Lily, and that "Always" quote is so much deeper than a romantic, or sexual, type of feelings for her. I think it argues that Snape elevated Lily to a symbol of Good, or at least used her memory to guide him on morality. I felt so much more respect for the guy that he had dedicated his life as penance, basically, for betraying his once-best friend once more.
This is getting long, I hope this wasn't too much. I have changed my feelings on how Severus treated Harry and the other kids close to him in that year's class. Looking at how he acts to others and comparing to how he acts with Harry, I now now I feel Harry was a very specific trigger for Severus and he showed Harry and Harry's potions class a side of him that he generally did not show to anyone else. This is just my personal interpretation based on how other adults, from Dumbledore to even Lupin, and kids speak of Snape as a professor and seem to think Harry is just exaggerating that Snape hates him. When, no, Snape really is projecting his hate and rage and grief about James and Lily onto Harry and he does actually hate the kid. Which, it's probably easier for Severus to think he hates Harry rather than hates himself.
I could keep going but I will stop here for now. I hope that answers the question? But feel free to chat more :) I hope you don't mind I responded with a blog post, I can take it down if you would rather it be answered privately lol.
I suppose the tl;dr version is that Snape makes me angry because he makes me feel things about myself that I don't like, but with age and reading other people's thoughts on the character has definitely made me come around to they guy!

RVB restoration predictions
These are just my own predictions from what I see from the trailer and I want to write it down! I think this is going to be a long thread. Be wary of spoilers! Also sorry if there’s any typos
1. Grimmons moment???
This scene might be a grimmons moment. Even though I don’t think they will be canon at the end of the story, but Bernie did say there will be some fan-service in restoration (correct me if I’m wrong). Plus, where are the other reds and blues in this shot? THEY ARE SHARING A MOMENT TOGETHER.
Tumblr media
2. Tucker/Meta will kill either Caboose or Carolina
Since we don’t see any Carolina in the trailer, I doubt that she is okay. It’s either they didn’t want to show her yet, or, she’s damaged or dead. Plus, this scene shows that Wash is in the hospital (Doc is also there) saying that “He (the meta) will kill us all.” Remember at the end of s13 it was Wash and Carolina rushing to help to the reds and blues. So something might’ve have happened between that. Judge by Wash’s reaction, something bad MUST happened to Carolina.
Tumblr media
The Caboose part is based on this shot of Tucker/Meta grabbing his neck. HE HAS THE STRENGTH TO HURT CABOOSE. Again, Bernie did say he will take some risk in restoration and I think killing one of the fans favorite is pretty risky.
Tumblr media
I also saw some theories of Sarge being killed because we can see others at the blood gulch in the trailer but not Sarge.
4. Return of a character
Who is this? While I think this might be a joke (maybe this is Donut lol) but if you look closer, it looks like this person is holding something (meta’s weapon??). So maybe this is a shot before the scenes of Meta beating the reds and blues.
Seriously, where is Donut? Don’t tell me he’s dead again.
Tumblr media
5. Wyoming???
Either this is the new character or Wyoming somehow travel to the future with the time distortion unit. I would love to see him.
Tumblr media
6. Other theories
- Tucker still have conscious and is struggling to get meta off
- Church will sacrifice himself AGAIN at the end of restoration
- It will end with “why are we here?” Or the answer of it
- maybe an open-ended ending like s13?
Final thoughts
I really hope restoration will be good but I’m kinda worry that since it’s short (like 80 minutes?) I think that it might be a little rush but I’m not sure. Even though RT is dead, I’m still really happy to see that they are giving Rvb a final send off. I hope there will be some Easter eggs of s15 - s17.
Btw I think Wash yelling “listen to me >:(“ is so cute like why is he yelling like that ur a grown ass man bro

I am sorry to bother you but I have to say, I feel Dib got treated too harshly most of the time. It's the point of the story yes but at times it just feels flat out sadistic for no reason.
It's why the Gargantis Array comic storyline sucks to me, it was just two issues of buildup to make Dib a gross fat joke and humiliate him across space. Jhonen just really seems to love torturing Dib more than anyone and it's rarely even deserved.
Oh, this is the opposite of a bother, friendo!
I actually have a lot of reading to still do on the topic of the comics. I’m woefully only really up to good knowledge about issues 46-49 and a lot of bits of pieces otherwise. If what you’re saying rings true, that is sad to hear, but pretty interesting still. I’ve always in the back of my head been a little afraid that Dib’s karma could be flanderized to the point of making him a butt monkey. Especially when we all know that’s supposed to be Skoodge’s job! (waka waka)
As for the show, honestly? I think they managed the balance just fine. It’s not so much that the show was specifically cruel to him, but that sadism broadly was one of its central themes and there were no efforts made to exclude Dib from that. And why should they have? He’s not an innocent woobie, and in fact is actually in the seat of a very ambitious antagonist against the real main character’s goals. Arbitrary events of misfortune and pain were the bread and butter of the series back then, and almost no one was spared. Jhonen (who cameoed himself in the show just to choke on a fish and die for a joke) also from what I hear injected a lot of his own qualities into Dib, so I imagine it probably IS very entertaining to him to give the boy the works.
From what I have seen of the comics, that looks like a much finer line to tow. And this more of an off the cuff ramble, but you know what I think??? I think they made Dib a touch way too sympathetic actually. There’s so much more focus on just him and Zim’s side antics, and the more time you take Dib off world and away from the rest of the Earth side characters, the fewer reminders they give you about how many of his problems are majorly self inflicted and how much of a disturbance he can be to society. And, for better or worse, a less dark overall tone in the comics means that the moments of overtly black comedy are going to stand out a little more against the modernized background by contrast.
And there’s another elephant in the room that kind of gets to me, personally. As well as I can put it well, the art style change kind of really affects the lens he can be viewed through. Maybe more than most people want to admit. And I’m not dissing the rounded down, brightened up change, it’s not a better or worse direction from the show… but it is a different one with different strengths and weaknesses.
Like, look at Dib’s early season model sheets for a base of reference.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now compare him alongside the comic and Florpus interpretation of Dib Membrane. OBVS I am simplifying a ton here, there’s a ton of room for more range than these examples.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not here to say he’s a better or worse Dib visually, he’s still Dib to me! But is notable how comic Dib actually breaks a ton of the “rules” of what kind of character they wanted Dib to be. To put it one way, they sanded down some of his edges and he’s not as apparently “skrungly” as he used to be.
What I like about the change is that it actually gives the better impression of him actually being the lil dorkass kid he’s always been. He’s got a slight aesthetic shift that shows off his unique interests and it definitely sets him apart from Zim, who actually retained most of his own show design. He’s still got some funny lookin’ qualities and he’s so much more endearing
One of the downsides of all that, however, is probably that he’s so damn endearing and as a default.
I dunno if you ever watched Little Shop of Horrors, amazing musical btw, but, it’s supposed to have this whole tragic ending where the main character’s, Seymour’s, long chain of mistakes catch up with him and he meets his demise. In the movie, they casted Rick Moranis for the character, and he played such a puppy-eyed, adorkable Seymour that it made audiences suddenly too bummed out to even appreciate the dark ending. They hated it so much that the crew actually just changed the ending completely so that Seymour gets a consequence-free happy ending with everything he ever wanted. Even though he’s literally a serial murderer of sorts. You were always supposed to feel for him, but not to the point where watching him fail just makes you feel horrible.
I think Dib works kinda like that on a meta level.
If there’s any ruling on what goes over that invisible line when it comes to handling his character, I think Florpus Gaz nailed it right on the head. Dib is never supposed to just utterly break under the weight of his world. Can he sometimes crack? Yeah totally, especially in the “brink of madness” sense. Or if it’s funny. The golden rule is not to give him more than he can handle, and Dib CAN handle a lot of bullshit. He may be a frustrated lil squirt but he’s been at this for a very long time, and it’s hype af watching how he’s not slowing down even in the face of that. Dib and Zim’s biggest POSITIVE shared trait is the strength of their spirits against a world that is ultimately callous and cruel at every turn to them.
Every second you write Dib where he’s wallowing in despair or feeling sorry for himself is a second you come closer to that line and it’s what you need to dish out in wary moderation.
So I guess the TL:DR of what i think I’m getting at here is… it’s all about perspective.
But I really should read more of the comics.

do you have any character analysis posts you're working on? i'm currently mulling Daya/Dia over in my head right now. In general, I'm thinking a lot about Kabru's team because they don't show up much in the manga and won't be in the show much longer as noticeable players, but have quite a bit of outside-the-manga content to comb through. Personally, I like the idea of Rin and Dia becoming friends with Marcille post-canon, but I want to know them better first. I know Rin pretty well already. 1/2
(for example, Rin/Dia/Marcille seem to like clothes, and i want to draw them clothes shopping.) And I ask this not to put all the work on you! I want to discuss these characters with somebody, and you're one of the only ones I can think of who enjoys doing in-depth dives into the side characters of Dungeon Meshi. You, summerboletes, shisurus, and ambrosiagourmet are some other blogs i can think of that made great meta posts. You can reply to this privately if you want! 2/2 (think about it. daya has a boyfriend and marries him post-canon. marcille loves romance and loves clothes. it'd be adorable if she helped daya find a wedding dress. like kabru introduces them and dia (god i'm so used to writing 'daya') mentions her wedding and marcille immediately pounces on her with eyes sparkling in excitement. i plan to write this fic one day)
This idea is so cute! I’ll also check out those other blogs you mentioned when I have the time to hehe~ I do latch onto minor characters easily but it doesn’t mean I have much to say about everyone. Dia (agreed btw, the situation with Daya vs Dia is confusing)… I do like her, but I feel like her Adventurer’s Bible profile sums it all up quite nicely and straightforwardly honestly. You’re right though her reaction to the treasure bugs was so cute and honestly surprising considering her appearance and demeanor, she does like pretty things and jewelry I could def see her going shopping. More content of her would definitely be fun, I’d read your fic!! I do love imagining how everyone’s relationships are like in Kabru’s party, the intricacies of it… I haven’t mulled it over enough though. I’ve been thinking of Mickbell more because of recent posts though, also Rin… If you’d like, the dunmeshi discord I’m in would be a good place to brainstorm about it I think! Hmu for an invite if you want
Summing up the posts I’m working on was long so here’s a cut out of mercy
I have 78 drafts on tumblr currently oh boy… The thing about my process is that I ramble easily but then I need to compile panels to illustrate the points and that’s real tedious… Character analysis wise - I’m most hyped about a Falin one on the topic of if she’s a people pleaser, how much does she care, what’s her way of thinking etc etc, also her differences with Laios because I hate seeing people seriously say they’re the same person. - Also a Cithis one that I just need to streamline at this point. I want to analyze her demeanor, poke at her psychology and analyze her relationships, she’s fascinating. - Oh I’m so stupid I almost forgot to mention the one I’ve been working on currently about Thistle, the age shenanigans but in an in-world way where yes it’s wonky and it means something. He hauntssss me I have so many thoughts on Thistle & Falin lately. Like, offtopic for the analysis but… Falin loves nature and Thistle is named after a flower… Imagine her post-canon coming across wild thistles and feeling a rush of fondness and she doesn’t know why… Thistles have thorns but they taste sweet… Peel of his thorns and eat him pls.
I have more Chilchuck & family thoughts coming, and more Toshiro & family, but these will have more of a casual brainstorm & speculating tone to them, I also just need to streamline these… Like I am obsessed about Toshiyuki and Chilchuck’s alcoholism I’m sorry
Beyond those the topics of the character analysis become more specific, like - How much social awareness does Laios have? Not none, not a lot, but the specifics can be blurry in ways I think are interesting, he was sensitive to people’s judgements in his hometown after all, and he does worry about others’ perception of him… He does know that buzzcut guy was taking advantage of him, etc etc. - There’s an extensive one I want to make on how the winged lion reflects abusive relationships, like how he targets all his ‘meals’'s specific weaknesses and draws out the worst in each of them. A lot of Dunmeshi is about unity and overcoming prejudices & differences & flaws and forming deep and long-lasting bonds despite it all, and amongst all of it it’s like… How flawed relationships with flawed people can still be made into somehing good and healthy that make the world brighter… Except the winged lion there to represent abusive relationships which you need to fucking DITCH, lol. - And on the topic of Dunmeshi & relationships I want to talk about it and queerness, especially in the queerplatonic sense of blurring lines, and Izutsumi + Laios’ relationship to touch should feature in those.
And my crown jewel but I’m soooo hyped about the Marcille & Chilchuck’s arcs one I’m working on it’s gonna go over so much stuff I’m obsessed about, like the importance of books in Marcille’s life, what the succubi reveal about the characters in what ways, the theme that’s so prevalent in Dunmeshi of idealization, Marcille’s imagery as a dungeon lord, a shepherd a general a princess a monster a damsel a woman in mourning…
But that’s enough for heavy ones, side characters wise: doing quick posts like for the gold-stripper characters has been great, but those usually come to me on the same day that I post them. I might make some analysis posts on say Mickbell or Holm or Otta, but I don’t have the thread I want to follow yet. Flamela’s been on my brain so much too…
Mostly though there’s just a lot that I wouldn’t write analysis for, but that I’d love to explore in fanfics! For example, the hienbeni I want to write the most rn is about the surges of anger that Benichidori gets, impulsive and stressed out. I haven’t made a post on my Izutsumi & Benichidori brotp and all the interesting parallels I think I have, but I’ve written a fic on it! Same about Chilchuck’s daughters and their relationship with his alcoholism, etc. I explored the guilt and confliction he may feel about his wife in my fic Enough as well, etc etc. You can see my fics here! For Kabru’s party lately mickrin has been having a chokehold on my brain, I’d love love love to explore Rin’s and Mickbell’s characters and issues through fics for them. As I think you might have figured, I love to explore characters through the lenses of relationships they have with others (Cithis & Mithrun and Pattadol, Thistle and Falin, etc), and that’s why for example I love to make posts that pitch ship ideas, I think specific dynamics can really have a lot to say about either characters. Oh another one’s toshimari, I want to make a fic about them and their feelings of being foreigners and not being able to integrate well to The Island, through the plot of them going to a restaurant as coworkers and the food they eat there~
These are only the ones I have at the top of my head though………. Someone help me Hopefully this post wasn’t boring lol, but yeah those are my wips rn. Need to make posts on toshimari, kabushuro, cithaios, cittadela and ships like that I think have interesting potential too. Many of these I’ve mentioned here I’ve had in my drafts for like 6 months btw gdvd 😭

ten’s speech before he saves wilf just really annoys me. he’s like “I’m so special and nobody can do the things I can I can’t believe I have to die to save you” and wilf is like “I’ve lived a full life you can let me go” (which is incredibly sad btw) and ten is like “no I have to do this but I don’t want to” and idk it’s just. so weird and uncomfortable
The trouble with this scene is that it's a really good culmination of Ten's arc where he has to reject the person he could so easily be - someone very much like the Master, who thinks he's all-important and has the right to decide who lives and who dies - but a key part of the setup is cut from the final episode. This speech is a callback to an earlier line that you can find in the script:
Tumblr media
I'm forever mad that this was cut because it's so crucial to understanding Ten, the Master, and their character arcs. RTD finally had a good take on why the Master is evil (and why the Doctor isn't) and then he just threw it away. 😔
Here's some really good meta that goes into more detail.
send me Doctor Who opinions

Went to see the Vampire Dies in No Time Stage Play on Tuesday night! Will gush about it under the cut, but have some shitty pics of the poster here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Basically: it was great!!
Since it’s more an episodic gag manga, I wasn’t sure how they were going to handle pacing and all that, but they did a good job of touching on a good variety of stories by combining them and making them flow surprisingly well.
The whole thing was only two hours with no intermission, but it didn’t feel too short or rushed. Then again I’m recovering from mild food poisoning that I accidentally gave myself last night (I was SO worried I wouldn’t be able to go but I’m mostly ok) so maybe it just felt like a good time to tap out for me lol
I thought they might just adapt in the order of the anime, but they touched on some stories/characters from the manga that haven’t been in the anime yet, which was great (main example I can think of rn is the Vampire That Makes Idiots Powerful)
The costumes were SO good, which I’m coming to just expect from Marv productions. It was surreal in the opening titles song when all the cast first assembled, because it was really like seeing the characters from the manga in real life. In terms of costumes, my favorites were probably Draluc and Ydan. Oh, and the blow up prop that was Hennadoubutsu/Weird Animal (think car sales lot tube man thing but not quite that tall and pink. When they first blew it up his head got stuck against the doorframe and they had to tug him in a bit. Not entirely sure if it was an organic gag or scripted but it was funny either way)
I didn’t see them on the poster so I wasn’t sure if they’d be included, but the vampire brothers (Yakyuken/Micro Bikini/Invisible Legs)(boy that’s some trio out of context huh)(they’re my favorite btw lol) were very much included. I was interested to see how they’d do the invisible legs (I was contemplating a cosplay if I could find, like, super reflective fabric or something) but they just made Tohru’s legs black and joked that they could totally see his lower half at some point.
There were a lot of good meta jokes actually! Which is in keeping with the manga for sure. There was also a lot of singing, and Draluc got the first song (called “Team Up Confirmed” after Fukuma tells Ronaldo to include Draluc in his book), which lead to a meta joke about how in the manga Draluc canonically is terrible at singing. His reply was basically“Yes but stage play me is excellent at it ;)”
I think my favorite song was from Ydan but my favorite part overall was probably the audience participation bit in the middle when Yakyuken is introduced (with all his brothers, as some vampires Mikazuki encounters when he comes to Shin-yoko for the first time). Basically most of the audience had multicolored John pen lights and they were all waving them and “playing Yakyuken.” (I didn’t get one bc the ticket and the transit fare was already over budget for me this month >_>) High energy and the music was super fun!
One of my favorite meta jokes was with the trio of grade schoolers; two of the actors were really short and almost looked like kids, but the third was obviously just a man and Draluc had a go at him over it lol (“Wait a minute, one of you is definitely an adult.” “What?! Why would you say that? What makes you say that?!” “Your looks.” “Name three things!” “Ok, I’ll name three things about your appearance: your body shape, face, and height.” Other kids: *start screaming to move the scene along*)
The actors were all great but Draluc’s was probably the standout, he was veryyyy good at the physical acting and got all of Draluc’s flounciness lol
Speaking of Draluc, they had LOTS of different props to represent him dying and it was hilarious seeing a new one almost every time 😂
Examples:
-kiddie pool of styrofoam packing peanuts dumped on his head while he falls to the ground
-grey textured fabric pulled from grade schooler’s backpack and draped over him
-hiding behind a cutout of a pile of sand stuck in from the side of the stage
-a kuroko (stage hand dressed all in black to move props etc, meant to be ‘invisible’) bringing out a cutout but lying it facedown on the stage with a bit sticking up for the actor to step on, raising the cutout when he dies
-kuroko waving streamers on sticks (idk what you’d call them, like feather dusters except not feathers and longer?) with similar grey textured fabric in front of him
-various cast members flapping flags made of that fabric in front of him and then him indignantly collecting the flags from them in the background while Ronaldo was in spotlight
And probably one or two more I can’t quite remember
Bubuo (my least favorite character in the manga but good here) had a short standup interlude where he talked to the audience directly, which worked bc the actor was very charming, and also Ta-Chan came out and roasted him. There was a good joke later where Maria almost killed him while hunting a bear because he was wearing a “shirt that looks like BBQ” (he was wearing the yellow BBO hoodie) and he sounded so betrayed when he went “It’s an O, not a Q!!”
The final act was the Tsujigiri Nagiri intro arc BUT if Draluc and John hadn’t destroyed his effigy. Basically, Nagiri attacks Kantarou as per canon but Ronaldo jumps in to stop him, so Nagiri starts targeting everyone he knows.
Then they all ambush him together but it doesn’t seem to do much (Nagiri lost one of his knives in this big group fight and it flew off the stage lol. Luckily I don’t think it hit anyone but it was just sitting there on the floor for the rest of the scene. He was very professional and just kept on with the fight scene with one empty fist), until Draluc has an idea.
Which is to call on the Vampire Makes Idiots Powerful, who’d been popping up here and there throughout.
So then the whole gang has to tell stories of times they were being dumb as per the manga chapter while fighting Nagiri, then Draus shows up to help, talking about his texting mishaps. And then Ydan shows up and does his thing, and Ronaldo finishes him with a “boobs smell good” punch (a statement that I as a boob haver still wonder about sometimes. I mean they don’t smell different to the rest of the body do they? 😂)
Anyway, lots of good stuff, absolutely worth the price and going with a stomachache lol

Man, I really regretted looking up Undertale Characters and Undertale Sans analyses on this here site:
Like, there is a reason I avoid doing that more often than not on tumblr (and some other sites), because a lot of the time I just across takes/analyses/etc. that I just really (personally) don’t agree with and/or like.
Even by creators that I can, have, do, and/or did like, and seemingly “well-liked”/”well-accepted” and/or “popular” takes.
Disclaimer:  If you like or agree with any these takes or similar ones; that is fine, we all have different opinions.  I just tend to not really like these takes.
The takes in question.  These are just UT/DR takes and ones I have mainly come across today and fairly recently (some of these takes are actually done by fans of these characters; that doesn’t mean I like or agree with them still though (putting the rest under a “read more” cut, because this gets pretty long, and in case people don’t want to read about these takes):
“Toriel is homophobic” (just uggghh, no.  Just no).
“Sans is useless and/or serves no purpose (in the game, battle, narratively, thematically, and/or etc.)” (basically) (this, just isn’t true at all, and I really, really (like, just a lot), hate this take/these takes).
“Sans is weak” (also hate this take).
“Sans is just some guy and/or a nobody now”, because he now can’t be a badass and cool and powerful and smart (which, he is), while also being dorky and edgy and vague and a generally nuanced and a flawed person with layers.  I guess.  Not allowed.  Talk about fandom over-correction (imo).
“Toriel is just a Mom and basically has no other character traits or flaws.” pretty much (Just no and is a huge oversimplification of her character).
“Chara is abusive/Chara abused Asriel” (Chara, who is also, just a iteral child.  And someone who was probably traumatized and hurt in the past.  Chara wasn’t perfect, but to say this, I just can’t agree with it really).
“Papruys is now the strongest character in Undertale” (he is strong and powerful in his own right, but this is just unfair to the other characters, and is kind of over-stretching stuff imo.  Like some Sans take(s); I also mostly blame this on fandom over-correction).
“To make Paps interesting we now have to make him edgy” basically (less a statement, and more a trend I see sometimes).  There are many ways you can make a character interesting for instance.  And 2nd of all; why try to make a non-character edgy, when we got more actual edgy characters like Sans, Chara, Flowey/Asriel, Gaster I guess, Muffet, I guess, heck, maybe even Toriel, and/or etc.?  Not saying Paps isn’t interesting btw; he is.  Just saying some people seem to only think they can make him interesting by making him edgy.  Not even against edgy Paps completely; I’m not.  Just trying to say there are other ways to do things/you could do things.
“That somehow Flowey/Asriel (and in the case of some fan stories; Gaster too), is a better person than Sans is” (don’t get me wrong, Sans is a morally questionable/morally grey character (and I love that about him).  But the amount the shit he gets sometimes, while arguably, characters who are just as bad, worse, and/or (more) ill-intentioned than Sans get more of a pass is just like, “what?”
“Flowey did nothing wrong” basically (this comment kind of goes hand-in-hand with what I say in the previous paragraph.  I do get he is technically a child still, and he is a good character.  But like, he still did many, many things wrong).
Not really a character, just a take I didn’t agree with at all, “Undertale’s meta aspects and time travel isn’t needed and basically make the game worse, and game would have been just as good, if not better without them”, (and I am like just "????”, about those things.  Those things are so important to Undertale man, and they don’t make the game worse, they make it better.  Like, what do you even mean?)
Etc., etc.
So yeah, really didn’t like these takes at all.  And I mean, AT ALL.
Welp, at least the somewhat sour taste these left in my mouth hopefully helps me more careful while searching for and/or looking up analyses, metas, etc. on tumblr and/or etc.
I have hopefully, learned my lessons now.

Okay but this was totally my ask. Lol.
You expressed the issue so well. The only thing I’d like to point out is that this reactor is watching for the first time, not rewatching the series, so they don’t know how it ends yet.
Anyway, your points about symbolism and how they could have multiple meanings are great. And the fact that extreme shippers only find significance in the things that support their ship or head canon, or only interpret things in a way that will end where they want the story to go, is so frustrating.
Recent example: Sam and Dean are talking about Eileen. And Dean is encouraging Sam to go for a relationship with her, if not a family which they both suggest they don’t want during the convo, and Dean says, “She gets us. She gets the life.”
In response to this convo I see shippers saying things like, Dean is encouraging Sam to have a family (which he just said he didn’t want), to move on without him. This shows Dean is letting go of Sam (so he can move on with Castiel, naturally 🙄). I’m sorry, but what in the history of the show tells us that Dean would want Sam to move on without him (if Dean is still alive)? In this conversation they both literally rule out having a (traditional) family. And Dean says, “she understands us.” Us, being the unit that is Sam and Dean because they are a package deal. Then, Dean adds that she understands “the life.” Someone could interpret that Dean just means that she understands hunters, but then why say she understands “us” first. Dean, who calls a break “we time” does not want Sam away from him, rather he thinks Sam could add her in to they dynamic because she is a hunter (gets the life) and already sees what Sam and Dean are like (us). This in no way translates to Dean letting Sam go, so he can run off with Cas (who he sees as a less vital than Sam brother and who he’s currently mad at, btw).
So, yes, I’m doing some interpreting here myself, but mine aligns with what the show has showed us about these characters for 14 years, whereas hellers see Dean giving Sam his blessing to have a relationship (not a normal brother thing, btw), and think this means Dean is ready to move on from Sam and stop hunting. So much extra meaning is piled on that was not actually stated, and that is not supported by past actions.
It’s insane to me.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, but it’s just so good to see people who still have logic and can apply that when interpreting a show, text, moment or symbol.
And, it’s not the fact that they ship destiel that bugs me, but the fact that they spend do much time trying to prove it, and losing their minds over the most innocuous interactions, that they can’t see the forest for the trees. Then they get mad when they don’t get what they head-canoned.
It was a great ask! I didn't directly reblog because I felt like I was going on a bit too much of a long-ass tangent. I will totally be waiting for that update about how the watching reactor (and yeah, totally my bad on saying rewatch when obviously if they don't know the ending it's a first watch, whoops). Because if it makes you a bad person to want to bask in their well-earned completely unreasonable disappointment, whelp, I'm one, too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But yeah, I'm with you, I don't care if people ship things I don't like. I don't even really care when people come up with what I think is bad meta - though I do like to pick it apart on occasion or read someone else's thorough dismantling. No, the thing that really completely baffles me is how those extreme shippers' mindset leaps from "this is a thing I would really like to happen" to "this thing must be meant to happen (because I want it)". To the point where they seem to become genuinely blind to anything that doesn't support the conclusion they have decided literally everything must lead to. (Except in the even worse cases where they aren't blind but angrily venomous instead.)
Like your example above about Dean, Sam, and Eileen - never mind every single tangled up bit of Dean and Sam's relationship in the show to that point and beyond, never mind his actual words continuing to talk about them as an us. Dean is totally telling Sam to leave him for Eileen so he can go be with Cas, that's the only thing it could mean. Another is that scene where Dean's in the confessional booth in season ten. Never mind the pretext where he's trying to draw a spirit's attention making the earnestness of the entire thing questionable, never mind how he thinks he's under a death sentence with the MoC, never mind Dean and Castiel's actual canon relationship, never mind how entirely shitty and restricted his entire life has been - those shippers can't think of a single possible thing Dean Winchester might feel like he's missed out other than boning Castiel. Just ... imagine watching the Winchesters' lives and actually thinking that's literally the only thing it could be. There are a million more random moments like that where they build a clue out of very very pointedly ignoring everything but what they want a scene to mean. Then they try to insist because they have so many, all those interpretations are valid and it must be intended! But the consistent element isn't a storyline, it's their own refusal to consider that any other possibility exists over and over and over again.
Genre, themes, actual explicit narrative, alternate interpretations, creator statements - if it isn't in service of the ship? It either magically doesn't matter, will change SOON, or is some kind of enemy action that should be righteously fought against. As if because they've invested their time and energy into sort of following the story, its creators now owe it to them to do what they want. I legitimately don't get it at all. The massive blind spots or the massive entitlement.

(an old-ish previously unpublished meta from last september, because i still think it's good)
i think one of the most interesting things, aside from s3 seeds, that i've gotten from the show bible, is a vague understanding of how the sole showrunner, detached from his future team, thought about the show and it's characters.
firstly, mostly as a curious observation: there's less kindness. the only person consistently described as kind is todd: dirk is rude and patronizing and dismissive (which, True, but what about his friendliness or exciteability or empathy?), farah is cold, calculating, detached and anxious (which, some yes some no, but what about her deeply caring nature, her protectiveness, or the softness of her voice?), amanda is described as becoming an adversary, of all things (what she ends up doing is just a rebellion crisis; she doesn't even do any evil, she straight up helps and helps and helps!)
like, the people who came to work on that show have influenced it; have made it softer and kinder, i think.
but secondly, as a main point of this post — dirk, and his relationship to himself and his powers. i notice, both in the bible and in the script snippets, that dirk's cheerful demeanor is painted directly and deliberately as somewhat fake, and his pain and fear are presented as something more real and genuine.
from the show bible (emphasis mine):
We'll come to understand that Dirk's vocation of “Holistic Detective” is more complex than the average “Superhero Trying To Do Good.” What actually drives Dirk is a mysterious, unstable blend of altruism, guilt, boredom, ambition and wanderlust — and somewhere deep, there's a painful sense of having been born trapped into a life and an ability he doesn’t necessarily want.
from the s1ep2 script (again, emphasis mine):
Dirk assumes a listening pose.
TODD
No. I’m not.
Dirk looks actually sad. There’s something desperate about him that’s been peeking through. Something that says “if you’re not with me on this, no one is.”
DIRK
…Please?
Todd turns and starts to walk away. He walks further and further away.
DIRK (CONT’D)
You’re still wearing the shower curtain!
Todd flings it off, and kicks it. Dirk looks hurt; that curtain represents their adventure and vis a vis this, their entire friendship. It is a shower curtain rife with pathos.
DIRK (CONT’D)
Oh don’t kick it!
Todd continues away.
DIRK (CONT’D)
Todd!
Dirk’s blase manner cracks oddly. Again we see an odd, sincere, vaguely desperate young man peek through.
DIRK (CONT’D)
Hey, you think I like this?
and i don't thinks this dichotomy between "fake optimism" and "real pain" is particularly untrue to the final show itself; we do get to see more of his worries as we get closer to him, it is something that makes him deeper and more truthful — it's just that in the show, recognizing and accepting this pain is only the first step of the journey. the fear isn't quite the ultimate truth of him.
in season 2, wallowing in the fear is shown as useless and even harmful, and accepting where he is led and doing so with confidence and grace is shown as a virtue, and by the end he is rewarded with a more intimate understanding of what his blessing-curse does and why it exists.
it's just — after so much internal turmoil and conflict, he kinda goes back to where he started, "i am doing this because it's the right thing to do, and i'm great at it btw", just with a little bit more honesty and maybe sincerity? it's just kinda fun to see this as a "fake it till you make it" scenario

Here I'm once again, thoughts on the new chapter?
The woman with the tablet on chapter 4 gives me a vibe of Lucy idk why.
My thoughts on Chapters 1, 2, 3 and 4
Official English translation (the free chapters anyway) here
The woman with the tablet, for me, feels more Vidic at the moment. Maybe if we get a scene with her being nice to Noa, she’ll be similar to how Lucy acted around Desmond (especially if she implies she’s working for Abstergo because she has no choice).
Ngl, depending on how she treats Noa, she could turn into either Vidic or Sofia Rikkin. Speaking of which, Sofia Rikkin is still alive, right? Why isn’t she the one doing this shady Animus project? XD
I can say for certain that this would be a shorter ‘thoughts and analysis’ than usual, mainly because a large portion of the chapter focuses on Edward being a badass. As much as I love seeing Edward being a badass, there’s really not much to analyze as I focus more on the story XD
I will say that Edward getting sanctuary from the Chinese is funny considering he’s running from the Japanese. XD
Also, it might be because I’ve been talking about Jade a bit and I’m reaching but if they get a Chinese character to join their quest, this might become connected to AC Jade.
(But I still think the focus on Noa’s quarter-Japanese ancestry and the villains being the Shimazu clan points at this being a prequel/set-up to AC Red).
Anyway, main takeaway:
Edward’s character development from Black Flag is intact:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact that this comes at the cost of so many lives will always be bittersweet to me.
Oh, also…
Tumblr media
He hunted 2 crocodiles and if we based it on AC Black Flag Crafting (from IGN):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m betting Edward’s gonna get another pistol but I would absolutely love it if it was for a rope dart pouch. The panel would suggest either a belt or a holster though. :(
(Meta: I'm sorry, Edward, are you saying that you didn't load up with your max upgrades before you went on this mission???)
And to end this short-ish thoughts and analysis:
Tumblr media
See? This is the kind of thing that would be the same as ‘rejecting the memory’. If ‘Shimazu’ Sei keeps saying that this is all dandy and a good thing, I’m calling bullshit and think either she’s actually deliberating keeping things from Abstergo or this webtoon is trying to push an Animus theory that contradicts what we know of how the Animus operates using genetic memories.
Btw, does anyone know what she’s supposed to be making here? It looks like soup and skewer with perhaps rice wine(?) but the 2 uncooked garlic bulbs make me go “???”

Hi amazing Mars! What are some of your unpopular opinions on Scream? You already know a few of mine---including the fact that overall I love these recent three films even more than the original trilogy. (Don't hate me---obviously I love the first three too, I just have a weird attachment to 4, 6 and even the underrated 5!)
ohh this is a good question and one i feel like i can easily answer but fair warning because obviously these will be semi-unpopular opinions lmao 😅
1.) Tara is my LEAST fav of the core 4 and i think she’s one of the most boring new age characters. I’m a huge Jenna Ortega fan but if they killed Tara off I literally don’t think I’d be mad and I’d majorly prefer that to losing one of the twins in Scream 7.
2.) Gale > Sidney. I absolutely ADORE Sidney as a character and a final girl but I find Gale to be more fascinating from a meta / narrative perspective.
3.) ^ And on this note… Sam > Sidney 🤷 Once again I find Sam to be a more complex final girl and I enjoy the way she bucks against the tropes of the genre. I could write a whole essay on this topic but Sam exhibits a lot of flaws that usually only male characters in media are afforded and I find that to be really interesting/forward thinking.
4.) I’m going to go off of one of your points there but 4, 5, & 6 were the best movies since the OG and definitely the best sequels in the franchise.
5.) I think Stu Macher is overrated. And the fact that people STILL think he could be alive or come back even though Scream 6 clearly made fun of that theory by having Ethan literally get killed by the SAME FUCKING TV is actually insane to me.
6.) People who complained about the amount of survivors in Scream 6 clearly weren’t listening to the meta themes of the movie, lol. Every (good) Scream film has a meta commentary and then a societal one. Scream 6’s meta commentary was on subverted expectations, and the movie does that by subverting the audiences expectation that expectations will be subverted. You think that one of the twins is going to die because they survived in 5 and this movie is “obviously” going to try and subvert you by killing a survivor! NOPE! Plot twist, they all live and even one of the newbies does.
(Mindy literally laid this out in her monologue btw, they name dropped subverted expectations and the last jedi for a reason and THIS was why…)
7.) I think the Scream fandom is too obsessed with ghostface kill counts and etc 😅 I judge the killers based on vibes and how interesting their narrative was… not based on how many people they offed.
8.) I really loved the Bailey-Kirsches motivation as ghostface and even if most of the fandom didn’t like their reveals I thought they had one of the best unmaskings/third acts in the franchise 🤷
9.) Also… last controversial take Chad > Dewey!

You know that moodboard you reblogged of Merlin and Morgana not being able to sleep? You know what occurred to me?
I'm thinking of season 3. These two with their love/hate thing and UST going on and their fights about evil plans, and you know... What if in one of those heating discussions, Morgana accidentally blurts out that she felt something and a lot of things for Merlin before the poisoning fiasco and then Merlin admitting the same.
And like both are in their minds... 😳 Oh, crap, what did I just said? So, both flee from each other, because this isn't good at all and neither can now sleep because of the whole situation. 😂😂
..... ok meta time
I think morgana has been honest enough even in s3 though (heck through s4-s5). Merlin is the more guarded one.
Based on Colin Morgan’s interpretation in many interviews, Merlin was the one who was self-aware enough that he loved her and deeply cared for her at some point. The show confirms that sort of acting decision coz he’s also always revealing his true feelings for her in front of kilgharrah and gaius. (plus the other character/actors have talked about it)
Meanwhile Katie Mcgrath doesn’t characterize Morgana in that way: that Morgana was self-aware enough that she loved him. I am of the opinion that Morgana was still on her way to falling in love with him when Fires of IDirsholas happened. All we know is that she deeply feels for him to the point where even Morgause didn't seem to know the whole depth of her feelings. KM insists that Morgana only wanted Merlin’s honesty and trust. We can see it In the show. Morgana had always told Merlin what she felt about him.
So if there was one who should admit their feelings then it should be Merlin.
Morgana already laid out everything she felt for him from S1-S3: “you are the actual hero here!” “I am your friend” "i don't feel so alone here," "i trust merlin” "you’re a good friend” “i have magic, merlin” “I now know what i am”. “i am afraid merlin” “i get that you only wanted to protect your friends” “i am upset that i was poisoned and you hurt me” “why should i care about people who dont care about me?” “Uther hates me and everyone like me” “you dont know how it is be be an outsider” “i thought we were friends then why are you against me if you understand me like what you claimed “how can you hope to understand” “i dont really get you.” “Make me understand, merlin” "you're just a pathetic lowly serving boy to me," "you're a thorn in my side," "you condemned me to live in this poor state."
Meanwhile merlin is always like "i care for her", "i trust her," "she should be told that magic can be a force for good and it can be a gift" "she has a good heart," "she’s my friend," "i know her," "i feel sad for her," "she’s undergoing a hard time," "i understand her most of all," "i shouldnt have trusted her," "i dont wanna be bitter, angry and so full of hate like her," "i will never be like her," "i thought we were the same”
---but he says these only To the dragon and Gaius.
See how they contrast? With regards to to his feelings for Morgana, Merlin is only honest to his bosses, meanwhile Morgana is honest of her feelings for Merlin towards Merlin himself.
Merlin and Morgana were never meeting/fighting on the same ground.
It's honestly heartbreaking, especially since Merlin never holds back on saying the same wonderful words of affirmation to Arthur, to Gwen, to the Knights, to Freya, to literally everybody else.. but he could never say them to Morgana's face.
btw saying only "i understand" and not much else sometimes isn't enough anymore.
....
I honestly do not know what else Morgana could say that will push Merlin to honesty. I think she might as well strip herself naked and he still wouldn't give in (and s4 showed us that he can and will use that kind of weakness against her. he already used her nightmares against her after all).
All I’m saying is that Morgana had always been so so so vulnerable and raw in front of him. Normally that would give an opening to the other person to let down their guard and rely on her. (see agravaine, helios, aithusa, mordred)
But Merlin never did that. He had so many chances to tell her the truth and be vulnerable himself but he never allowed himself that kind of right in front of her. We know that he desperately wanted to but he couldn't because had been repeatedly and ceaselessly warned/conditioned/brainwashed/manipulated that it was the worst idea, that going against his job orders will have consequences.
.....
But as they are in s3? where they are just free to pursue whatever goals they have independent of each other... with how radicalized and extremist they both already are? With how Merlin has already lost at least 4 loved ones for the sake of protecting camelot and destiny (sunken cost fallacy and all that)? nah. I can't see him being honest to anyone, especially enemies who have done and said things he morally detests, anymore.
Personally i think the only way for merlin to finally tell her his truth is to trap both them in some situation where they have to work together, or where morgana’s magic isnt enough , or where they both have no magic, or where the have joint responsibility of another life. THEY HAVE TO BE TRAPPED. TRAP THEM TOGETHER.

I am really needing Advice and I don't have many people in my life that can help.
Here in the fandom I am wanting to reach out and try and make friends with of the members but I ......just don't know how.
I don't want to freak anyone out I just want some friends from here people to chat with and get to know.
I really enjoy my interactions with some of the members I just very socially awkward.
Hey there, anon! First off, I want to assure you you’re definitely not alone in this fandom and thank you for judging me an appropriate person to help. I’m definitely very socially awkward as well (even if it doesn’t show much since I’ve gotten very comfortable around here), so I’ve been there. I’ll share what I’d do in your situation (basically, what I’ve been doing since the fandom began sgksbsjsbs), I hope some of it can be of help to you <3
How to make friends in the fandom:
1- Discord
I, personally, do not really use discord chats. But I did back at the beginning, and they’re an amazing way to find people in the fandom to chat with! Essentially the etiquete of discord (as far as I know) is that you’re welcome to join in on conversations that are already happening, so you don’t need to stress about intruding. I’m pretty sure the biggest Hilda discord is Hilda Guild-a, but the tumblr community also has the Hilda Fandom Network. I (and any other member) can send you a link to the latter if you’re interested and don’t mind shooting one of us a DM! There’s also a sketchbook discord (and I’m assuming you’d be interested in talking about sketchbook since you’re. You know. *gestures vaguely around my blog* here), but I’ve been trying to find the link for jetcat for weeks and still haven’t managed to 🫠 wish you a better luck than mine, anon
2- Tags!
If you’re a person who makes content for the fandom — and I don’t just mean fics or art; shitposts and meta count too — pay attention to the people who not only reblog your stuff, but leave tags adding their thoughts/agreeing with you/screaming as well. They will probably be more open for dialogue since they not only already know you, but also like what you do and how you think!
Likewise, interact with the people you want to get closer to! You have probably already gotten a feel of some bloggers in the fandom, so make sure to reblog the posts you like from the people who sound kind and interesting to you, and let them know what you think!! This way they, too, will know you’re open for dialogue
(Also in this fandom it’s very common that we check the tags on our posts and answer them if there’s anything to be answered; so it’s already an unobtrusive way to get a blogger’s attention!)
3- Asks :O
See, you’re off to a good start! xD
Probably the main reason why I refuse to move on from tumblr, tbh. Asks are just so useful when you’ve already had some interactions with a blogger via their posts and want to talk more. You can always ask about safe topics; if it’s an artist or fic writer, I assure you they’ll be delighted to talk about their work. Also sending jokes or thoughts about characters/ships the person likes, or just about the series, is also imo a very nice thing to do :)
4- DMs (*sinister music playing*)
Okay, this is the scary part that you probably want to be careful with (I know I always want to, at least)
Once you’ve been interacting with people for some time in the ways I already mentioned, you might try sending them direct messages (this is especially acceptable if you’re mutuals btw, though that’s just unspoken etiquete and not a Rule of any kind). Depending on how long you’ve been in each other’s orbit, you might send them a fandom thought (that could admittedly have been an ask, but sending it in a DM will make it even clearer you’re interested in chatting), a post that reminded you of them and you think they might like, or even something a little more personal. I truly think this step will rely a lot on you sensing what is the most appropriate course of action
From then on I’d say it’s relatively easy (even for socially awkward people such as you and I) to sense whether the person you’ve approached is also interested in having a back and forth or if they’re just being polite. But either way, if you ever want to ask them (or even begin the chat by asking) if it’s they’re okay with getting DMs and/or apologizing if you’re being in any way intrusive, I think that’s a pretty chill thing to do. I can’t really see anyone in this fandom telling you “no”, but it’s still polite and would put your heart at ease evekvdjdbsjdb
Honestly, this is a cookie cutter-ification of a process that is generally organic, but as a general rule it’s what works for me. You might want to keep in mind that up until last year I was only in DM terms with *counting on fingers* uh. One (1) (☝️) person in the fandom, so I might not be The best person for you to copy xD though that might also be just because I wasn’t necessarily looking to make friends over here. It sort of just happened haha
Honestly, the bottom line is just that this fandom is filled with lovely people and I think wanting to make friends is all but a guaranty that you will. Something that I’ve learned from experience that helped me a lot to keep in mind is that if you’re afraid of being intrusive or impolite, you most likely won’t be. Just from the way you worded the ask, you sound pretty sweet!
I do hope you find what you’re looking for, and that you have a lovely time at the Hilda tumblr! Have a lovely day, dear 💜

Is UA a Good School? Results so far
Okay, so I’m doing a survey on UA and so far ten people have responded. This is their thoughts. If you want to add your own thoughts, take the survey here as I’d like to get at least 20 answers before closing it.
None of the answers below are mine, btw. These are from anons, however, if there’s anyone who wants to write a UA meta, this might help.
So, do you think UA entrance exam with the Robots is a good idea? Why or why not?
*No robot revolution is upon us. If you can make robots that well why have heroes
*No. It favours just one type of quirk and can cause damage to the others
*The show makes a point a few times about Shinsou's being a person who was failed by the Entrance Exam, which is at its core really a Spartan-style system made to galvanize very specific kinds of Quirks and weed out others. It prioritized long- and short-range combatants and those with exceptional abilities that are cross-situational with dozens of applications, like those of Uraraka and Yaoyorozu. That Shinsou and Monoma were not allowed into the Hero course despite being in their own right very powerful was less of an unintentional oversight and more by design on UA'S part - I think of there being something like a hero pipeline, where people with combat ability are the ones prioritized and put into 1-A, because they can sooner be put into action as Heroes for cases. (I think it was implicated that there were more exams, but all we saw was the combat-based trial - if fighting ability was the only thing taken into account, it's terribly unfair.)
*It's not the best imo and as a test too hard to grade because there's too many unaccounted for variables. What happens if you can't tell which kid had the final hit on a robot? What about if someone took the time to wear down a three pointer but a random stole the last hit? Who gets the credit there? considering how many applicants they get each year grading must be a nightmare. I would make some changes like making it a multiple part test with each part not only on combat and raw power but stealth, character, leadership, strategy ect. With smaller groups of kids so each applicant gets proper attention. This might take longer but maybe it would make a tenser arc in the story as more and more kids get dropped?
*I do because I believe they can provide a good enough challenge for beginning heroes to show off and prove to the faculty. However, I believe making them the ONLY way to get points is where the entrance exam falls apart. What they should do is also allow people who have supportive or quirks not really suited for combat a chance to rescue “victim” dummies as well and how they can save them.
*I can see that if they used real human there would be way more possible damage, considering they can't foresee every atendee quirk. Like, what if someone causes irreversible damage to an human being? More lawsuits from both sides, candidates and exam apliers. Maybe they could have an alternate exam for quirks that aren't physical or something
*No, it's garbage. The only reason there's no fatalities is because of plot armor. They encourage a bunch of kids to fire their quirks around when they haven't been given any training in using them. In a crowded area where people are rushing and distracted. From a meta reason, the exam had robots so that Izuku could punch the 0 pointer. In universe, this exam is extremely wasteful. They could have done more reasonable tests and a psyche evaluation.
*It’s fine. Hagakure made it in so the robots can‘t be that powerful. I can’t think of any option that’s safer while still allowing to test this many candidates.
*It’s inherently biased against mental quirks like Shinsou’s and Aizawa’s, so no, it is not ideal.
*No. Inhibits many people from effectively using their quirks and can actually be more risky than people as robots can break and create shrapnel. Thus leading to more students getting injured and more risk of serious injury.
What about the teachers? Do you think they do a good job teaching?
*Hizashi tries at least the kids are learning english i guess?? And like no other subjects cept punch stuff. But like they dont use any regular school knowledge to better themselves just kinda sad.
*NO. I know they are from Japan and the culture differs. But as for the mc, we neve see any teacher in the ua step in to offer any help.
*Aizawa has to go. There is nuance, I think he is a good person outside of his aberrant means of teaching and behavior, but I find him such a thorn in 1-A's side. He has improved recently, and is better than he was in the beginning of the show, but never should he have been doing more than administrative/behind the scenes work for the school. I do not feel much in regard to any of UA'S teachers - I am neutral towards them, with Present Mic being the only who is substantially a good educator in my eyes - but I have the most disdain for the Principal and Aizawa. Personality predates ideology. I know Aizawa teaches the way he does because of the kind of person he is, and his past experiences - still yet, he should not be in charge of the heroes of tomorrow, in any case. His relationship with heroism is too fraught, to begin with, for him to have anything to pass down any teachings that could be free of his own slants.
*We don't get enough of the academia part in my hero academia to say for sure. I wanna say they're fine from what we see, but make the same 'bumbling but well meaning authority figure' type mistakes that help the plot along (ie. Not checking in with Bakugo after his kidnapping, not pulling Iida aside and offering counseling after his brother's attack, throwing them on an island by themselves and trusting them not to be stupid teens (in the movie))
*Honestly, hard to say. We mostly see either Aizawa “teach” a.k.a sleep through class or All Might. We don’t see the others actually teach or engage at why their subjects carry as much importance as Hero Training or even showing their interactions with the other students.
*It's funny but vlad and Power Loader were shown to be decent, but on the other hand we have aizawa and Nedzu being the way they are so.... it's a mixed bag
*No, lmao. I could roast Aizawa's garbage teaching style for hours, but one example I'll point to of him being trash is when he sent his kids to the licensing exam. For a meta reason, the kids didn't receive any kind of rescue training because it would add tension on if they'd pass or not. In universe, Aizawa is an enormous idiot. Why would he send them to an exam that they're taking early and NOT train them in a key element of it? You're telling me that the man who controls their training couldn't have taken them to the USJ to get some learning in? Really?
*Uh…mostly no. I can forgive All Might because the poor guy never got any training and he does get better. Aizawa‘s logical ruses are very not good though. We don’t see enough about the other teachers for me to rate them
*They let Midoriya break his bones in that sport Festival way too much. The teacher’s are alright but they’re not faultless and their methods leave some to be desired. Also All Might is a shit teacher that man does not have a teaching license and I have a variety of complaints about his teaching style
*No.the quirk apprehension test was unneccessary and only made the students no longer trust the teachers. Also the first training excersise was far too advance for students who supposedly weren't allowed to practice with their quirks before hand. There should have been basic training and theory before being put in a real life scenario with only one teacher (who hadnt even taught before) overseeing.
Which teacher do you think did the job best? (Note, I said did their JOB best as a teacher, not who you like best.)
*hizashi
*Good. Hard to say. I will say AM and Present Mic
*I haven't read the Manga nor the side stories, so I cannot really answer this effectively, as teaching is not very often shown after a certain point (in this piece of media that has 'academia' in the name). I like Present Mic most because, foremost, I found him a capable teacher with infinitely less bias than Aizawa (thinking of the tournament and the difference in their commentary styles - Aizawa didn't want to be there, did not care, and then inexplicably put his neck out for Bakugou); it was my respect of how he handled his work that developed my liking for him personally. I wish he had more of a spotlight so I could have more ground to stand on with this opinion.
*probably ectoplasm? from what little we do see of him in the tests, the special moves training, and his actual math class, he seems like a pretty competent teacher.
*Thirteen or Ectoplasm I feel. Thirteen has a site where she can teach others what she is strongest at, learning how to rescues people, and Ectoplasm actually gives the students advise on how to improve their quirks.
*Vlad King, I suppose
*All Might. We only ever see him and Aizawa doing any teaching. All Might is a new teacher, so he has an excuse for sucking.
*We don’t see enough of the teachers other than All Might and Aizawa to say much about their skills so I‘m going with All Might. He actually ends up pretty competent.
*Aizawa isn’t perfect but he’s focused on the most when it comes to interacting with the students and I think he’s done a pretty solid job.
*Maybe Vlad. But we don't ever see him so who knows.
What about the lesson plans? Any thoughts?
*Uhh god they focus mostly on practicals and demonstrations which is ok?
*None. It feels they were wriggling. Or worse just teach kids to fight.
*The most constructive period was when 1-A was allowed to fine-tune their Quirks and develop new moves, such as in the gymnasium. The instances when they were paired and pitted against teachers was not itself a bad idea, but the emphasis on combat and the way this benefits Bakugou-types really stifles other, more 'neutral' quirk developments - how can X quirk be used to save a large number of people? If it can disable one villain, is that more important than evacuating twenty civilians? Fighting is an important asset of Heroics, but evacuation and rescue are hardly prioritized. I would find it intriguing if 1-A was split into three groups to spend time on each of those skills, in rotation. The provisional license examination did wonderfully to put the students into a rescue scenario, but, truly, they should be experiencing those more often. UA is in an interesting quandary where they need to balance actual, normal academics with training minors to be rescue workers. I had difficulty with the last question because, in the Anime at least, there is little of that shown. The lesson plans should have been more variegated, instead of having to do something like fight All Might. What was that.
*As far as the hero track goes, I had hoped we would see them actually learn new things? Like, in canon, if a student makes progress in canon it's usually from independent training (Shoto's phosphorus) or outside influences (ochako's close combat). We never see them running drills or being taught how to fight safely, iirc it's usually just 'throw them in a fight and see what they do'. I also wish there were actual classes on deescalation and crisis help I think that would be so interesting, especially seeing who uses these tactics and who doesn't (both students and pros). Owerall I wish we got to see more academia in my hero academia
*Again, if we were shown why a hero school has to be invested in these other classes, we could possibly gain a better opinion, I feel. I get it’s a school, but if you are there mainly to be a hero, why teach about art or history?
*I consider UA at fault for not teaching proper rescue manners and first aid before the provisional license arc. They should have more hand-to-hand martial arts class too, with various teachers. Also I find it odd how the focus on Hero art and Hero Hisstory, like is it the narrative telling all history previous to the dawn of the quirks is being sidelined? Am I overthinking?
*Not really? The lack of training in needed information is annoying, but the training camp was pretty good. This should have been done sooner, like before the sports festival, but better late than never.
*Not enough info imo.
*They haven’t covered anything about lethal force or excessive use of force, despite the students definitely being trained to be capable of such force if used on an average human. They’ve received no basic first aid training or cpr certification. Their lessons are good for strategy and using their quirks at least but they do leave out some important things. Probably because there’s plot to focus on and that content might happen in their second or third year, but it still annoys me
*Bullshit. Need more practical and basics. they need basic hand to hand and stealth since none of them should be in dangerous situations on the first lesson.
What about the Fianl Exam? Do you understand the thinking and believe UA was fair?
*Nah sucked ass. Also kinda perverted and just focused on quirk type matchups than any real challenge
*No. That exam makes little sense to me
*On one hand, I think the matchups during the practical exam were balanced, but on the other, the Final Exam, conceptually, was hilarious. Written essay. Fight your teacher (or your friend's friend's teacher). It would have been deeply valuable and charged if there were multiple applications - that is, if there were 'rounds' in different arenas, ergo multiple fights, and if the pairs were rotated (fight teacher A, fight teacher B). That way, real experience could be built from these practices. In terms of fighting experience, one exam determining strength also does not cut it - there is far too much nuance for 'you failed! study harder' to be the end of it. The students who failed were not necessarily weaker than the ones who passed. That each fight was coordinated conceptually eliminates the spontaneity of the outside world where they will be doing /actual/ hero tasks. Much alike to many of the undertakings UA does, it was ill-conceived. The victories of the students were impressive, but felt as bittersweet as the failures.
*I understand the logic behind the matchups, and I understand what they were going for, but it wasn't fair. Most of the tests were fine, but some were definitely influenced by the teacher's bias. I get why mina and denki needed a 'rude awakening' to step up their strategic thinking (though none of the teachers follow through with that lesson iirc, denki and mina are never taught how to make a strategic plan after the test?) But it seems mean spirited at best to make their assesment near impossible unless they already knew what was happening (like, what are you really testing here, their ability to solve a maze? They never interacted with Nezu, let alone have a battle of wits). Snipe shooting live rounds into a closed room in the direction of students was kinda yikes, and I still don't understand why sero failed when he did a self sacrifice play and was pulled out by his teammate but Bakugo did the same and passed? Also all might went way too hard lmao. Also also Bakugo should have lost points or been disqualified for assaulting his partner.
*I get the thinking, but the pairings seemed a little one-sided for some of them. Kaminari and Ashido going up against a genius for example is cheap.
*It kinda breaks the fourth wall illusion when you are used to shonen. when I first read it I was like "oh ok, so hori is making them fight their mentors bc it's an old as ball shonen trope." But in universe the teachers were too careless.
*The only thing that was unfair was that Shoji failed for being carried out of there unconscious, while Bakugo passed for the exact same thing. What the hell? Apparently, it's different for Sero because he got knocked out early in the fight. Well, whatever. The people who failed still got to go to the summer camp anyways, so what does it matter?
*No. Some made sense but I loathe that Izuku is used as a teaching tool for Bakugo. It would have made much more sense to switch him with Todoroki. Izuku and Momo could have helped each other’s confidence while Todoroki could also benefit from team work and facing an op foe.
*Nope. Pairing up Midoriya and Bakugou was cruel. Midoriya shouldn’t have had to take Bakugou’s abuse to get a passing grade. It doesn’t matter that it was a test of Bakugou’s growth whether he was willing to work with Midoriya, Midoriya shouldn’t have been put in that situation. Pairing up Todoroki and Yaoyorozu was a good choice though, as was pairing them against Aizawa. Unlike All Might, Eraserhead wasn’t out here breaking spines for an exam. Setting up Kaminari and Ashido against Nezu kind of felt unfair but I don’t have as much genuine complaint about that.
*No. Well not for Izuku and Katsuki, one student was greatly handicapped and blamed for the others lack of teamwork. Also sero was failed when Bakugou wasn't, which makes no sense as he contributed more than Bakugou was willing to. The idea was good as it tells heroes that sometimes you need to run away and theres no shame in that.
What would you think is the worst and / or best thing about UA?
*Nedzu. Weird mouse leader. Also fantastic nurse better than my high school nurse
*The dorms are nice. The rest sucks
*The best thing is probably that, in the wake of All Might's retirement, it is another pillar school that, with its existence, it allows the world to know that it will be safe tomorrow with every graduating wave. The worst thing is, with that said, that it is not a very good school. Each time its integrity is challenged and the public overall loses credulity, the claims have been correct - even though, unfalteringly, after a while, public opinion defaults back to 'good'. In Naruto, the Anbu are regularly described an uber-elite, untouchable group of operatives, but they are as easily defeated as Star Trek's red shirts; in the beginning we are told UA's grounds have impeccable security, but that security is regularly trampled. BnHA consistently tells of one thing and then shows the opposite. That Izuku's mother did not want to send her son to the dormitory arrangement, I thought was going to be a bigger element, and that it would cause more friction - I am shocked that after the kidnapping, all of 1-A's parents and guardians agreed to send their children to live there. For civilians who have no relationship to the school, it is not unreasonable that any anger towards the school would fade in time - post-Quirk society is so defined by spectacle that some bigger thing is always happening, and that yesterday's humanitarian crisis is pushed away to make space for whichever new momentary disaster - but the parents should not have found it so easy to trust the same campus body that housed USJ. The very lives of their children were at hazard, and the school's response boiled down to "oops". It is because the plot needed the parents/guardians to give consent that they did, as, otherwise, the story could not progress the way the Mangaka intended (and it's clear to me he is not very interested in sudden changes that happen, naturally, during a writing process). Some students could have continued to live at home, and been allowed to move into the dormitories as the school changed its ways and made reparations. There could have been a marked difference in Todoroki and Bakugou's behavior - positive - now that they were out of stressful, traumatic environments, and a similar reaction in Midoriya - negative - without his mother's reassurance. The dormitory changed the social fabric of 1-A a lot, but it didn't have any profound effects on the individuals, and did not really resonate out into the world of BnHA. The entire intention was "bring them together", without examining what the students were coming into, nor what they were leaving. The school had to make mistakes. The school has to make mistakes. But if it was characterized as being a truly heroic symbol - even with its flares and faults - I think people would have cared more when, for instance, Izuku left 1-A. It is really disheartening that the establishment of the school, in terms of how it has been written, has been too flaccid to make the big events feel substantial.
*Best thing- high quality supplies, campus, ect. Nezu spared no expense Worst thing- by focusing too much on the student's independence and toughening them up for the world of heroics, the staff tend to abdicate responsibility for the development and health of the children in their care.they see them as'future heroes in the making' so much they stop seeing them as 'kids'
*Unfortunately, for being the most prestigious school, the security system has some standard flaws that I believe could have been prevented easily.
*Worst: the way they present their students and overexpose them as heroes in making. Plus they favor flashy quirks while at it. Plus they value grind culture. Also pitting General students against Heroic Students is dumb Best: It definetly has funding and the structure to support heteromorph students
*It's a school designed by an artist that bends to the meta plot elements. It's entirely restricted by what the author has in mind. An example: Izuku is in a school where he's surrounded by teachers who could help him control his quirk. His homeroom teacher can erase quirks at will. The support department could build devices that could measure the amount of power he's using. His control problem could have been solved at UA. Instead, he was told to work on a quirk he had for a few months and broke himself repeatedly. He then goes to Gran Torino and fixes his problem in like a week. Izuku wasn't allowed to solve his issue until the author decided it was time, but it makes UA look really bad.
*Worst: lack of guidance. Surely someone could have helped Izuku? Not to mention that Bakugo should have faced consequences much earlier. Best: they get results. All the graduated heroes we see are great at their jobs.
*Worst: probably the reckless endangerment of students by putting them on the front lines. Oh and that shit with chaining up Bakugou during the sports festival that was messed up. Best: they’ve cultivated a very supportive environment, at least within class 1-A. That might be more on the students than the school though. UA is good academically at least. Good resources for support items too. Teachers have good experience as well.
*worst - keep putting students in danger ie the sports festival. Easy way for villains to hurt students if they know their quirk. Also seems to favour flashy quirks over harder to train quirks.
Is there anything you would like to add?
*Nah
*Aizawa sucks and izuku really need help but never will get it
*I hope you will have a good day, and that my answers met the questions asked. I am anticipating to see what you make out of everyone's responses. Manga/Anime critique is really important - please continue writing for your blog! It's plus ultra! Thank you for reading it all. (Me: Aww! Thank you!)
*I still wish we got more academia in my hero academia
*I actually do wish we could have focused a little more on the other teachers and not just Aizawa. See how they treat the other students and see their perspectives on things. All of them seem more interesting than just one guy.
*They should add a medical class students to supplement Recovery girl work and train people with healing quirks And have a separate Underground heroic class maybe, that has less exposition to the media
*No. I'm always happy to dunk on UA. It sucks. My favorite MHA fanfics are ones that have UA get destroyed or have Izuku get expelled so we can actually be involved in a more interesting plotline. The school exists just so people can have pointless battles in it with no stakes. At least when Izuku fights AFO or Shigaraki, those battles mean something. Who cares if Izuku fights Monoma, or any of the class B kids? Most of the cast is irrelevant.
*Not really
*Why is Midnight allowed to make suggestive comments about the students? She even did so on live television during the sports festival. I don’t think she’s a sex offender or anything but I do think it’s inappropriate behavior for a teacher.
*UA as a school is underdeveloped. We have no clue about what goes on in gen ed nor the support class or even the buisness class. We don't know how a normal day is presented as we keep switching between events which doesn't allow us to see other teachers teaching style. So its hard to say the difference between Vlad and Aizawa since we don't see vlad teach. All Might also shouldnt be a teacher or be left unsupervised as he is inexperienced. But overall, they seem overhyped as the number one hero school.
