don’t think y’all understand how absolutely mind blowing it is to watch an explicit and gorgeously filmed sex scene with a plus size woman as the love interest. i grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s where thin was in. and not just thin but flat. ribs showing. no fat. “if you can pinch an inch.” i was told “if it jiggles, cover it up.” most of my body jiggles. so i covered it up.

to see someone who has a very similar body type to mine be depicted nearly completely naked on screen, beautiful costumes and light streaming in the window, absolutely zero comedic references to her body, shown having explicit sex with a thin and attractive man who is incredibly attracted to her, it just. i’ve spent my life being told that because i’m fat i’ll have to settle for less, settle for mistreatment, that i’ll never really be attractive, because thinness is required to be attractive. so to see not only this beautiful sex scene but also the many positive responses to it. i have no words.

Whilst I try and compose myself after watching the mirror scene all I can say is

I think that’s possibly one of the most beautiful and touching sex scenes I have… ever seen???? They’re usually so exaggerated to the point where it’s just silly and a pain to watch but omg??? This one… although it was somewhat uncomfortable to watch, it was because it felt so REAL like we were all intruding on this very intimate but sweet moment

The awkwardness, the tenderness, Colin constantly checking in, the way it didn’t really last long but then Pen asking for ANOTHER ROUND like oh my god I am ruined

Ok there are so many ways my brain is trying to be critical BUT I am proud of myself for finishing one of these challenges, no matter what. I've tried and failed to commit to so many projects.

Just to clarify: my own style is NOT my favourite style. I am far too self critical for that. I just entirely ignored the prompt ^^

So for one thing I did want to de-centre Leo a bit, cause the original day 1 prompt was favourite turtle and I DO love them all, Leo just has a special place to me. I also wanted them to not be floating.

Now I do prefer some parts of the original, mainly the simplicity. I do want to try and aim for a more simplified style in the future (if I can stop defaulting to the style I have atm). I might have gone a little overboard with the lighting on the more recent one. STFU up brain, I did not get worse. But it was fun. I think it's good to explore and practice parts of the art process even if it isn't something you want to stick to. I do think I learnt a lot of stuff and made some improvements over the month.
