Do we need distance to get close?

Mi Mr. Big me pidió un tiempo, la distancia no tiene buena prensa, pero ¿puede la distancia acercarnos más? En estos días, la distancia se sintió como un cuchillo clavado en el cuello pero, también, como un lugar seguro de encuentro conmigo.

La primer semana fue difícil, lloraba cada 5 minutos y no podía comer, sentía un dolor que nunca sentí, me sentía vacía y sola. Creí que el tiempo a solas me estaba alejando más de mí pareja y de repente todo era confusión y dudas.

Mientras pensaba todo el día sin parar, empecé a cuestionarme todo, mis actos y los suyos, y por primera vez en mucho tiempo pude cuestionar nuestra relación. Ese vínculo perfecto, casi lejano, que era indivisible, incondicional y único dejo de serlo, y comencé a verlo desde a fuera, deje de formar parte para pasar a ser espectadora de mi propia relación. 

Lo más difícil de la distancia fue extrañarlo, de repente todo lo que tenía desapareció, toda mi vida se derrumbó porque el había acaparado cada espacio de mi ser. Y fue ese el momento en el que comencé a valorar las caricias, los besos y las charlas, empecé a sentirme sola y un poco perdida. Porque todos estos años habíamos sido dos contra el mundo y ahora estaba sola, pero la soledad habilita un espacio mágico, que a veces damos por perdido, el espacio propio.

Después de tantos días de dolor y negatividad empecé a sentirme bien, y todo el ruido, que estaba en mi cabeza hace meses, desapareció. De repente el silencio tomo por completo mi mente, pero no era un silencio incómodo, sino un silencio confortable, que me invitaba a conectarme conmigo misma y a pensar qué estaba pasando con mi relación, pero por sobre todo con mis sentimientos.

A partir de este momento, deje de relacionar el "tomarse un tiempo" con la soledad y la tristeza, ¿cómo puedo estar sola si me tengo a mí? ¿Por qué tomarse un tiempo para uno tiene que ser sinónimo de algo malo y terrible?

Entre la distancia me encontré, en este tiempo a solas pude acercarme a mi misma, empecé a crecer, madurar y cambiar, pero por sobre todas las cosas pude sanar y dejar de tenerle miedo a la soledad. Logré encontrar un lugar para mí, un lugar que me permite dejar de depender de otro y darme el amor y el espacio que necesito. Hace algunos años deje de escucharme, deje de preguntarme, deje de pensar en mí. ¿Cómo puedo estar en una relación cuando mi relación más importante, qué es conmigo misma, fracasa y se cae a pedazos?

Por otro lado, en la distancia también pude cambiar la perspectiva, pude ver mi relación desde afuera, y todo era tan claro. Se veían todas nuestras fallas, nuestra relación estaba fracasando y era evidente, pero no podíamos verlo, estábamos tan simbióticos y unidos que no había espacio para mirarnos desde afuera, para cuestionarios, para expresar qué sentíamos. Los problemas individuales no nos permitían prestarle atención a nuestra relación y tampoco darle el lugar que necesitaba, el vínculo no era perfecto, estaba roto y muy descuidado, pero recién cuando tomé distancia pude verlo. En este tiempo pude aclarar mis pensamientos y encontrar nuevas formas para comunicarme y relacionarme con la persona que amo.

Estar lejos de quien amas es difícil, a veces en nuestros pensamientos hasta parece imposible, pero la distancia fue mi mejor aliado en todo este período. A fin de cuentas fue uno de los momentos más constructivos, tanto a nivel personal, como a nivel pareja. La distancia te da una mejor perspectiva, es como sacar un ticket en el sector con "la mejor vista" hacia tu relación, es ese lugar en el que podes ver absolutamente todo, tanto lo malo como lo bueno y también si hay o no amor. Tomarnos un tiempo fue una buena decisión, me ayudó a encontrarme, recuperar mi confianza, pasar tiempo conmigo, escucharme y preguntarme todo, nació una mujer nueva. Ahora solamente queda descubrir si esta nueva mujer tiene ganas de reconstruir esta relación o si prefiere terminar con los problemas y poner todo el foco en ella misma.
