honestly depends. dendro reactions are still the best and strongest and haitham rlly hits hard even without his best supports or whatever. kazuha is one of the best supports and always in most teams

are you in need of a main dps? a good dendro dps? do you have a supportive dendro to pair him with? haitham is super strong, against single or bunch of enemies, extremely fast and one of the strongest dps but hes a dendro dps, he needs to stick to specific teams for dendro reactions (2 dendro/2 electro, 2 dendro/1 electro/1 hydro,....→kokomi/furina/xingqiu, nahida/baizhu/yaoyao, raiden/kuki shinobu (i think even fischl? never tried them together tbh))

i think hthm is v friendly regarding team builds (doesnt need specific 5stars altho he does like to run w nahida like many dendro teams do) - just always have one more dendro with him on 4p deepwood

this is my current team w him for funsies, usually i have kokomi in furinas slot

kazuha is amazing support for many teams, like:

national, freeze comps etc

if you already have a good dps like raiden, childe, ayaka, etcetc you can support them w kazuha since their strongest teams often have him. you can never go wrong with having kazuha, he is one of the strongest and friendliest supports (but he isnt necessarily a must have) - i saw some ppl try to make him a main dps and even tho his dmg output isnt comparable to some other its still possible (tho i strongly believe u can make anyone main dps)

tl dr:

if u want a very strong dendro main dps who will carry ur ass and also got nice tits, and ideally have the team to support him for max dmg, go with haitham

if you have a main dps already and wanna support them or want more cc, go with kazuha

haitham is one of the strongest dps but tied to specific teams as a dendro main dps and not versatile in his role (meaning he lit cant do anything else but kill, he is a main dps through and through)

kazuha is one of the best supports and more versatile in his role (support/sub dps or main dps if u wanna invest in that build)

this is ofc my own thoughts and babbles and idk if any of that helps. not gonna tell ppl who to pull but always here if ppl need help w building n stuff

to me, the fab five are a found family in an intentionally forced way. and i don't mean forced by the writers, i mean the characters themselves forced that relationship dynamic upon the group.

at first, they really were just some kids hanging out and occasionally fighting criminals together. they didn't consider each other family or even best friends. and even as they got older, they continued to think of each other in a very Just Some Friends kind of way. sure they got closer, but they weren't family by any means.

however, this dynamic changed drastically when they became adults because they were all neck deep in mental illnesses, people around them dying, and desperately wanting to live normal lives. a lot of other titans groups become found families early on in their teen/kid era, and it's easy to assume that the same is true for the fab five considering they're quintessential kid hero trope, but that's not the case for them. they only started to consider each other Family as adults and that was specifically because everything else in their life was falling apart and they latched onto their only lasting consistent.

i'm not saying that the fab five were naive in thinking that the others would always be around, but i am saying that for a very long time, they were always around. they were absolutely scared that someone would die, but they also knew they could actually count on each other in a way that they often couldn't count on their actual families. this is taken to an extreme when dick cuts contact with bruce, when ollie dies, when arthur betrays garth, etcetc. everything was falling apart, so they latched onto the last bit of their childhood innocence and accidentally started seeing each other as family.

they don't know each other but they do understand each other more than anyone else in the world. they're mean and petty and they would die for each other. they're unsympathetic and they would fistfight the others' mentors in a parking lot. they aren't family and they're the only family they have left.

the fab five specifically became a found family in response to their own families being at best, very hard to deal with, and worst, absolute dogshit. they forced that dynamic because for a while, they couldn't rely on anyone else. dick couldn't rely on bruce after their falling out, but he could rely on donna and wally, even if they didn't completely understand what was going on. donna will always be able to call upon the fab five - they will never, ever leave her, even when they're going through whatever relationship drama dc wants to write about. roy knows that no matter what he does or what they say to him, they'll always be there in the end.

they forced the found family dynamic!!! that's why it feels different and more complicated than other titan groups!!!!! they didn't naturally become a family, they forced it on the group because their actual families were falling apart and dying!!!!!

Today I woke up and I thought about Kenshi getting a little tiny bit sad sometimes when he realizes that he cannot remember the color of Johnny eyes. He knows they are hazel (I think you mentioned that HC?), he can see their shape thanks to Sento. But to actually visualise the color? A fuzzy memory on a good day.

Something something bad day something something regretting that he perhaps didn't pay enough attention before losing his sight, but seriously, how could've he known? More something something Johnny being supportive during those days and providing Kenshi whatever comfort he needs that day (space, time to reflect cuddles etcetc).

We often see things without observing them a lot. Specifically, the intricacies of someone's eye color—you can just acknowledge one's eyes as brown or hazel like the way you can just say sunset are orange. But the beauty of those is something you gotta take time to soak in and experience in real time yk?

Sunsets are, in fact, orange, but the sky is always different every evening. Imagine the gorgeous hues of pink, red and yellow, the violet horizon, the painted underbellies of fluffy clouds, and the last sun rays casting the sharp contrast between the land and the infinite sky. It is something you must see to feel the beauty. You might can picture it exactly but if your sight were robbed and i give you a mere excuse of an image of a sunset and tell you to fill in the blanks, anyone would feel disheartened.

I made Johnny's eyes as hazel half for my love for og blue eyed JC design and half for this exact angst because Kenshi does and will miss the ever shifting colors of Johnny's eyes. It is, unfortunately, the price he must pay for.

also, to be that guy who's obsessed with the mythologisation of dr james barry for a second (it's been awhile on this blog I feel), I was interested in how casanova the tv show felt like a deliberate play with myth through the framing and the anachronisms and the lighting and the blocking and and and -- and how casanova himself is a heavily mythologised person, to the point that my partner asked me if he was real before we started

I feel like there's a similarity in ideas in dr james barry and casanova -- they were both adored and reviled, talked up and talked down depending on the agendas of whoever was spreading their tale, both with larger-than-life personas and adventures that seemed to teeter out in the later years as the traits that served them in youth (brashness, stubbornness, laissez-faire attitude around money, very specific ideas around how to live that didn't mesh with the laws and morals of society around them, a genius that in youth is considered prodigy-like... etcetc) (the details, of course, are different) became something that others were embarrassed about/didn't respond to as they aged and lost their connections

(also this is tv-show, so I don't know until I read the diaries, but they both seemingly had a manservant with whom they were very close/came with them on their various journeys)

casanova has the distinction of having a set of diaries that allow one to peruse primary material at ones leisure, so despite being someone whom one might only know from a particular re-telling or history book or even just as an idea, there is some power in being the main teller of his own story

which dr james barry of course doesn't really have. I feel like I read somewhere that he had more private letters that were lost at sea (which whenever I have that memory of having read that, I squint and wonder if I'm not participating in the mythologisation myself), but certainly the majority of what we think we know about him is either from others' opinions of him or just plain wrong/written after his death

in my head though, I think out of the many many biography-type movies and tv shows I've seen, the casanova show might be the closest to something I'd imagine for barry -- not for the same story, of course (the years of their lives also barely overlapped, but my special interest brain did note that early napoleonic and post-napoleonic era), but for the presentation. the idea of indulging in the fantasy, of the playing with anachronism, of an interaction with present (our present) and past. and mostly of fun

I think in a lot of the narratives around barry, it's often hard for me to see someone I think would live the life that he lived -- who had fun, who made deliberate, conscious choices that he enjoyed making, who was very passionate about his ideals and medicine and who -- like casanova -- was very much his own man. they're so often so preoccupied with ideas of deception and being found out and imagined projected cisgender anxieties. they often lack fun, and when they do insert their modern lens (in whatever time whatever thing about him was created), it's not to bridge the gap between us and him, to imagine who he'd potentially be if he lived now, it's to inject their personal ideas about what is morally correct to them onto a symbol

and yeah, at this point dr barry is more figure than man, as happens generally to historical people, especially those we remember for Highly Specific Things (like casanova, like barry), and I think it'd be interesting to really engage with that, to go deep into the world barry lived in, and to make him a figure who was cognizant of that world and the structures he was defying, who felt good about the choices he made

there's a certain idk... thematic overlap between the two figures. and that was something I really really enjoyed while watching this

Hey do you have any advice for someone who wants to start writing fanfic but doesn’t quite know where to even start..?

I cannot stress this enough - write for yourself, not for others. If others want a specific fic, then they can write it themselves (or commission you lol.)

I used to write for an audience, and it made me miserable. Now I write whatever content I want, on my own terms, at my own pace, and I'm much happier!

Don't get stressed if you haven't written in a while. I post every... month or two? It's challenging to continue writing when you work full-time, so put your priorities first (school, work, etc.) before focusing on your hobby!

And remember, writing is a hobby. It's meant to be fun!! If you're getting stressed, bummed out, worked up, etc. then have a break, and come back to it when you feel ready. Don't beat yourself up for not posting as often as other writers do!

For posting, Tumblr and AO3 are your bread and butter. Or fanfiction.net if that's your kinda thing, but I've never used that site lol. Use plenty of tags, but ensure that your fics are tagged correctly. Don't tag things that aren't included in your fic. (For example, tagging random characters who don't even appear!)

Don't be afraid to ask for feedback, comments, reblogs, etcetc. And if your fics aren't getting many notes, then don't stress over it. Some of my most popular works 'flopped' when I first posted them. There are many reasons why people aren't reading your fics the second that they're posted. Give your fics time to grow, and don't be afraid to reblog your own work!!

the flow of the story on this blog is fun bc i actually have it split into real acts / story flows where EVERY route on the blog [minus the red queen for obvs reasons] converges and then splits off and then converges again which is fun 🤡

cuz it's like

"common route" equivalent is your muse having the nightmares, falling into wonderland with the white rabbit, and then EVERY alice meets the cheshire cat first bc asher greets them when they fall / gives them a bunch of riddles abt the different routes/paths they can take >

choosing a route leads to x character (so for example following a path of withering roses leads to valentin, running past asher to look for darcy leads to finding him, going into the shadows towards heart kingdom against asher's warnings leads to aleister, etcetc) >

act 1 is basically just ANY interaction with muses pre-spade ball which by literal otome terms would be the first half of the game getting to know / bond with / (if romantic) fall for said character. largely encompasses exploring the huge and wiley marshes trying to make it to spade kingdom alive and encountering a lot of wonderland's fae villages / oddities out in the marsh >

act 2 is the ENTIRE spade ball wherein alice and whatever character "route" they're on spends a lot of time in spade kingdom interacting with the wonderlandian locals there and learning a lot abt what's going on in wonderland / who certain wonderlandians are / the histories of some wonderlandians (like if ur writing with val, this is where u'd learn about his past tyranny if he hasn't divulged it yet, etcetc). still bonding w the muse of choice, more build up with relationship whether platonic or romantic. culminates with the spade ball event where THEORETICALLY in a real otome the romantic part of the relationship would come full circle and those feelings would come out in some way if applicable, or if platonic the bond would prob grow to a strong friendship, etc, whatever is most apropos for the muse interaction. during the spade ball is when the white king is assassinated and EVERYONE goes haywire / loses their shit bc it's the first time in history an IMMORTAL has been PERMA-KILLED in wonderland and it happened in the middle of an incredibly large ball PUBLICLY >

act 3 everyone splits off again and where they go is highly character route specific, some even overlap in fun ways (the mock turtle / yvette, for example, joins asher/cheshire cat on his pirate ship bc he helps them escape so if alice is on either of their routes, they go onto his ship with both asher and yvette, etcetc). how they split up depends, but they ALL end up converging again by eventually heading to diamond kingdom with the fae. >

act 4 is the end conflict where everyone converges 🤡 depends on the route/ending but the "best" scenario is that all of wonderland comes together to fight the red queen and split off into two groups: those who go with aleister to infiltrate the heavens and shatter the stars to save alice from their fate, and those who go with king valentin to overthrow the red queen and take back heart kingdom. which group alice is in depends on what group their love interest or bestie or what have u is in.

Like the current one? By the end of July 2023 I posted my first Kyoshi novels fanart and maybe one month earlier I started rebloging and commenting on posts from others, this was after I read the novels and I jumped into their fandom and then in the procces I've also got into tlok and atla (I enjoyed them way earlier but I just didn't participate in their fandoms)

Your favorite trope in fiction?

HMMMmmm Grumpy serious stoick ish x chaotic more fun (and other antonyms that matches first character idk) (whatever heituat has going on))), expressive women with strong personalities, girlfailures<3, severe stern ruthless etcetc women but caring deep down inside (optional), morally gray characters, and I'm just a little obssesed with mother daughter relationships in fiction if that counts as a trope

That might be well known idk, but sometimes for a video game character they'll hire one person as only just face model, and then differnt person as voice and acting/motion capture

Now I don't really play video games myself but since I've watched Until Dawn gameplay yeaaaars ago I still like to watch playthroughts of those choice based horror games (the quarry, devil in me, resident evil etc), and later I watch other playthroughts for different choices outcomes scenes etcetccc, The games can be kinda stupid but fun, alsooo playthroughts of adventure games(???), I usually watch them when I eat something

Also CHECK OUT "STRAY"!! I only watched playthrought too but it looks so cool, you basically play as a cat (they did good job with motion capture, feels like real cat moves and it looks so fun to play) and you're in a world when humans no longer exist and there are cool looking robots, you can stratch walls and make robots pet you but I promise it's not just that lolol it has an actual plot and wordbuilding

Aside video games I like chess but I suck big time, but for my defence I mostly played with my friend who sucks even more aHA, we downlanded one chess app for two players and played during some classes

I think I'm just interested in 3d models and graphics hehhh I like 3d modeling

There's also a game called Hades, and this one I actually started playing myself, not the kind of games I'm usually into (roguelike),but friend got me it and! The character designs are very cool
