a/n: this is the product of a very insane conversation that occurred in the middle of the night last night with @emmaisgonnacry, @lokis-army-77, and @emma-munson. forever sad we can't get the jar jar watch </3 (but at least emma got the darth maul one!) ((thank you for making me laugh until i cried last night, friends.))

“If you buy that thing, I’m breaking up with you.”

“No, you aren’t.”

“Yes, I am.” 

“I’m getting the watch.” 

“And I’m getting a new boyfriend.”

You glare at your boyfriend for several beats of tense silence, narrowing your eyes as if it’ll do anything to change his mind. His heart is already set – there’s no stopping what’s about to happen. 

“Edward Munson,” you stress, hand shooting out to hold his wrist, but he’s already whipping it out of your reach, “That thing is hideous. We’re shopping for a nice watch for Steve’s wedding, not that.” 

“This thing has a name, sweetheart,” Eddie smiles toothily, tilting his head tauntingly at you, “And I think it fits the theme perfectly.” 

“In what fucking world?”

You're whispering harshly now, trying to keep from causing a commotion in the middle of the store and garnering any more unwanted attention. The workers had given you strange enough looks when Eddie had first laid eyes on his prize, his little yelp of excitement seemingly startling them. 

The less people who witnessed the atrocity on Eddie’s wrist currently, the better. 

Eddie goes against that wish entirely, holding his wrist high in the air for the entire mall to see at this point, “In my world. He did say it was meant to be open for interpretation-”

“Not like this.”

“And my interpretation is buying this absolutely priceless Jar-Jar Binks watch.” 

The thing looks down at you, almost as if it’s laughing at you just as Eddie was right now. 

Part of you wonders if it’s all a bit – something Eddie noticed set you off, and he’s now making it into an entire catastrophic situation solely for his own enjoyment at your irritation. But part of you also knows that even if it is a bit, Eddie Munson will commit wholeheartedly to it. 

It doesn’t matter if it’s a joke or not. He’ll be leaving this store as the owner of that watch, and the thought mortifies you. 

“Please,” you finally resort to begging, feeling a bit childish as you give a pitiful hop to reach his wrist. It’s useless. He only stretches higher, shirt riding up to expose that strip of pale skin beneath the fabric. Your eyes catch on it momentarily, but you force yourself to not get distracted, “Eddie, baby-”

“Nuh uh,” he’s quick to shake his head, taking a full step back from you, “Nope. That baby shit isn’t working on me this time. I’m buying it. End of discussion.” 

Fine. The sweet talk route didn’t work. That’s fine. 

You had more than one weapon in the arsenal. 

Before he can even think to step any further away, you reach out and hook your finger through one of his belt loops, giving a tug that further exposes the band of his boxers all while forcing him closer to you. 

You’re back on your tip-toes, no longer reaching for the watch, but to let your lips barely graze over his as your whispers, “What if I ask you not to very, very nicely?” 

That has him faltering. Complete hesitation as he takes a deep breath and visible gulp, arm beginning to drop ever so slightly. 

“I would… I’d…” he trails off, clearly losing focus as your lips stay hovering just out of touch, “I’d probably… I-”

“Probably not buy it – right, handsome?” 

And just as quickly as he’d fallen victim to the game you’d started playing, he’s pulled from it. 

He leans back as far as he can with your finger still clinging to his pants, scrunching up his nose, “I see what you’re doing. Not fucking fair. It’s only thirteen dollars, anyway. I bet if Steve was here right now, he’d tell me to get it.” 

“He wouldn’t!” you whisper-yell, giving up and pulling back as well, “It’s his wedding, Eddie. He told us to get something nice to fit in with the black tie dress code,” you can see him ready the argument of interpretation once more, and nip it in the bud, “No amount of interpretation can ever qualify the head of Jar-Jar Binks turned into a watch as something that fits into black tie attire.”

He’s not convinced. Not of the point you’re trying to make – no, you know he agrees with you and is just being a little shit at this point – but of not buying the watch. 

“What if I just bought it?” he barters, “Maybe I don’t wear it to the weddin-”

“There’s no maybes about it. You can’t wear it to the wedding. You’re one of the groomsmen.”

He lifts his other hand just as the one adorning the eyesore finally drops to be eye level once more, “Fine! Fine. I won’t wear it to the wedding, but I’m still getting it.” 

It’s a compromise. Or as close to a compromise as you and Eddie were going to get to right now. 

With his wrist finally lowered, you can finally get a proper look at the thing. It’s Jar-Jar’s head with a band to mimic his skin, no clock in sight until it’s flipped open. The inside might be even worse though. Vivid font curling to spell out Jar-Jar, a light orange background with darker swirls, and the world’s smallest sliver of a screen to display the digital time. 

It absolutely blows your mind that anyone thought it was a good marketing idea. But then again, people like your boyfriend exist. He was the intended audience, not you. 

“It’s not even that cool,” you weakly still try to fight the losing battle, gingerly grabbing for the wrist this time with your free hand. Your finger hasn’t left Eddie’s belt loop, now resting comfortably in it, just growing fond of the closeness rather than weaponizing it against him. 

And maybe as a way of keeping him from running up to the counter to complete the purchase. Maybe. 

“It’s the coolest fucking thing I’ve ever seen,” he proudly proclaims, right there in the middle of the Radio Shack, never having looked more satisfied with himself, “It can just be a conversational piece. I promise, I won’t break out the secretly evil little shit-”

“What?”

“Unless the occasion actually calls for it.” 

“I’m sorry, can we go back to where you just called Jar-Jar secretly evil?” you ask, more perplexed than concerned at this point.

He was getting it. You were hating it. You had bigger wars to win with the man before you at a later date, surely. 

His grin makes you regret asking, “Oh, you haven’t heard the theory about Jar-Jar being a Sith lord, have you?” 

Your finger slips from his jeans, and your eyes nearly roll out of your head. 

“Go buy that thing. I’m waiting in the car.” 

“Wait, babe, no!” 

“Nope. I’m not listening to this.” 

You turn from Eddie to walk away, making sure he can’t see the corners of your mouth twitching with a smile you’re so desperately fighting, but it’s no use when he grabs onto your elbow to spin you back around. 

“Eddie, I’m not-”

You’re interrupted with his lips on yours, an unexpectedly genuine kiss ensuing. The kind that reminds you why you’d ever deal with someone who wants a Jar-Jar Binks watch, the kind that reminds you why the occasional embarrassment Eddie purposefully puts you through in public is all worth it. 

All the butterflies, all the sweetness, all the tenderness. The way his thumb traces over your skin as his hand stays wrapped around your elbow, the way his other hand comes up to cradle your cheek. You can still taste whatever sour candy he’d bought moments before walking into the store all over his tongue and lips, hiding his last cigarette from hours ago. 

It’s a good enough kiss to forget the entire interaction that had just occurred. 

When he pulls away, you’re a little breathless, all fluttering eyes glazed over as you look up at him, “What was that for?” 

His smile could melt your entire existence. Turn you right into a puddle of all the love you struggle to contain, just for him. 

“Just because,” he shrugs, but then he continues on, “And for putting up with me. Thank you for that.” 

“I don’t put up with you,” you say immediately, and mean it.

Even when he’s being insufferable. Even when he’s still wearing the goddamn Jar-Jar Binks watch. You don’t put up with him – you love him. Foolishness and all. 

Your finger returns to his belt loop, and this time, you tug him in for another kiss. Something short and sweet, something just because. 

“You know,” he mumbles against your lips, arm wrapping around you so you can’t leave him just yet, “They have a Darth Maul one, too…” 

Your hand comes up between the two of you, only a slight struggle, just for you to smack him in the center of his chest, “You can only have one, Munson.”

“We could match!”

“I am not wearing that thing.” 

He throws his head back and cackles, a certain glee only born of being with the one you feel safest with flooding his features. All those wrinkles in the corners of his crinkled eyes, the stretch of his lips that bring on the appearance of dimples you could bury yourself in if given the chance. A boy made up of stardust and felicity. Your boy made up of every good thing that could have ever existed in this lifetime. 

You’d rather bicker over the useless things with him a hundred times over than ever live a life without him. 

“It’s fine,” he finally sighs dramatically, “I’ll just wear the Jar-Jar Binks watch to our wedding one day.”

Our wedding one day. 

Your heart just about explodes, and the only thing you can do to not choke up is smack him even harder. 

Our wedding. 

It has a nice ring to it. 

“I’m going to fucking kill you,” you tell him instead.

There’ll be plenty of other moments to talk about that. Now, when he still wears the ugliest watch you’ve ever laid eyes on, is not the time. 

“Gotta catch me first,” he teases as he slowly backs away, a twinkle in his eyes that makes you question if he knows how you’d secretly felt about that joke. That makes you question if he and Steve Harrington had really only been shopping for Steve’s rings for the last year. 

He doesn’t even run to the counter, knowing that you won’t be chasing him. You’re content to stay back and wait. You’ll always wait on him, really.

Even if it meant waiting for the day he wore that goddamn watch on your wedding day, because at the end of it all, you’d probably let him. You’d even wear the Darth Maul watch to match if he insisted. 

You’d let him wear whatever he wants, and you’d wear whatever he insists upon, because at the end of the day, it wouldn’t matter – it’d be enough to simply marry the dork that just tripped on his way up on the counter while giggling over a watch on his wrist, and know that he’s yours, forever.

“Okay, everything’s all set up. We’re ready when you are.”

Your manager, Bella, instructs as you situate yourself in the chair that was given to you. Bright lights shone on your neatly pampered face, a boom mic right above the big camera lens that was aimed to your upper half. You nod with a kind smile, clearing your throat and trying not to ruin the position your hair was in that your wonderful hair stylist had done. Once you get the okay that the camera was rolling, you relax a bit.

You introduce yourself to the camera, motioning to the Teen Vogue box right next to you.

“I’m here with Teen Vogue answering your guys’ nosy questions that you sent in about my life and my roles.”

You beam as you reach into the red box, humming a tune to yourself before pulling out the first question on the strip of paper.

“First question; what has been your favorite role since you started your journey in acting?” You read off the ink on the paper, thinking to yourself with a small smile. “I think my favorite so far has been playing Brittany in Bottoms last year. Camp-y, stupid, fun movies are so entertaining to me and I was so excited when I got the call from Emma telling me I got it. Everyone was so incredibly nice and welcoming.”

You reach for another question, unfolding the piece of paper to reveal the next question for you. Your eyes widen at the first question, looking up at the camera with a chuckle.

“Okay so the next question is who is your current or past celebrity crush. Hm.”

You think to yourself for a moment before glancing over at Bella with raised eyebrows. The crew seems to chuckle at your stuck position already. You weren’t sure if you were allowed to say who you were first thinking of. Bella mouthed her name to you and you nod, heat already flooding your cheeks. Bella, seeming reluctant, nodded as permission to say the blonde’s name.

You cover your mouth with a hand and shake your head, letting out a long sigh.

“I don’t know if she’s considered a celebrity but,” you pause to purse your lips, puffing out a breath of hair. “Paige Bueckers. I also don’t want to hear shit in my comments or dm’s about it. I will block all of you.”

And oh, did you hear shit about it.

After that little exposing question on Teen Vogue, you were flooded with edits already of the two of you with clips from your few films you’ve been in and Paige’s games and TikToks. It had not even been a whole week since that interview was posted. Your best friend, Rachel, started spamming you nonstop with these edits with taunts and teasing.

You scoured through the comments, shocked at what people were saying.

You really didn’t think you shared a fan base with a rising basketball player from a college in Connecticut but here you were. Rachel begged you to come over to hers so you could gossip about it the second your last interview was over. You, missing the comfort of normalcy, agreed immediately.

So after bidding the interviewer, crew, and Bella farewell, you got picked up by Rachel at the studio who was in sweats and a hoodie. She already had a cup of your favorite smoothie with a cheeky grin.

“Hey lover girl,” she leaned against her car, hand over her chest with an exasperated sigh as she handed you the smoothie.

“Shut up. Stop.” You already feel your face heating up at her words.

She laughed softly as she lightly kicked your ankle, brows raising at you.

“What? I’m sorry, is Mrs.Bueckers better?”

“Seriously, it's not funny.”

Rachel merely laughed louder some more at your flushed state, shaking her head. She unlocks her car as you hurriedly tug open the door. You settle into the seat as you take a long sip of the smoothie with a huff.

“I can’t believe you actually said that she was your celebrity crush,” your best friend hopped in the car as her laughter died down. “I don’t know how you didn’t see this coming.”

Truth be told, she was 100% right. You don’t know what the hell you were thinking.

“I didn’t think her fans would care about me of all people, you know?”

Rachel scoffs and shakes her head as she turns on the engine. “Whatever. You’re hot, gay and her age. I would’ve been more surprised if her fans didn’t freak out.”

You nod as you take a long sip from your smoothie, sighing out when your phone dings. You ignore it for now as you relax in Rachel’s front seat, asking her to please wake you up when you get to her place. You two talk about how Rachel’s birthday was coming up in a week and how you both wanted to go out just with your friends.

When you finally arrive at Rachel’s apartment, you finally check your cellphone to see a familiar name on your screen. Your heart drops at the sight, a wave of mortification falling over you.

“What the actual fuck? What do I say to that? This is so humiliating,” you groan as you cover your tired eyes with your free palm that wasn’t holding your phone.

In the blink of an eye, Rachel snatched your phone at lightning speed from your grasp, giggling as she ran more into her apartment. You took off after her, shouting ‘no’ as you knew exactly what she was planning on doing.

“You said you don’t know what to say so I’ll do it for you,” your best friend stated simply, shrugging her shoulders once she was able to flop onto her cozy couch.

She held her phone up in the air as her fingers hovered over the keyboard on your screen. You climb over her body to try and snatch it from her but she keeps moving out of the way.

“I’m gonna kick you,” you threaten her as you huff, pausing your attempts at fighting against her.

“Come on. Seriously. There’s no harm in texting her.”

As you settle back into the couch, you think about it for a moment. What is the harm? You reach over Rachel’s body to grab your phone back, huffing as you think about how to respond to that.

REMEMBER

Pairing: Paige Bueckers x Reader

Genre: Childhood friends, separation, amnesia, angst, slow burn, smut, romance.

Description: Dead eyes, pale skin, no memories. Returning to Minnesota convinces your father that it might be for the best. The familiarity of everything, he says, might help. But you have no recollection of living a life here, except for the old basketball court just around the block from your home. And somehow, you find yourself walking aimlessly toward it, wasting your remaining time sitting on the rusted metal bench. No one comes here. Yet, you feel like you're being watched.

Then, one sunset, a vehicle abruptly stops in the distance. A woman with blonde hair steps out. Blue eyes, glowing skin... and suddenly, your brain snaps. Memories.

You almost feel happy, hopeful that you can regain your lost memories. But when you look into her eyes, all you see is hatred.

Chapter 1: Snapshots of Memories

"Are you ready, honey?" Steven, your dad, asks for the nth time today. You’re packing up all your things because you're going back to Minnesota, your hometown. "It's for the best," your dad says. And, with your current state, you're in no position to negotiate.

You haven’t looked in a mirror for the past three years, but one glance at your arms tells you that you've become skinny—like, malnourished-skinny. Gone is your rosy complexion, replaced with deathly pale skin. You could pass as a vampire, minus the fangs. Plus, you feel like a shell, void of any memories. The only memories you have are from three months ago—waking up in a hospital bed, with your dad hysterical and shaking from exhaustion, and maybe from the happiness of you finally waking up.

Apparently, you learned that you were involved in a traumatic car accident. Your mom, Emma, was the driver, and you were in the passenger seat. Sadly, she didn’t make it. After hearing that, you kind of want to hit your head for not recalling anything about your own mother. You feel guilty and weirded out that you can’t even feel sad, hurt, or broken when learning about the loss—because you couldn’t even put a face to the name your dad calls his beloved wife.

"Yes, Dad. Are you?"

And now, three months later, you're leaving and moving states.

Minnesota

You arrived at last. It was a cozy home, with your nice room, and you saw things and trinkets a 12-year-old might own. You're 22 now, you think to yourself. That’s what your dad tells you—he showed you your documents. You're a senior college student, majoring in Civil Engineering. Ironic, considering you're supposed to be so smart, and now you're just… meh.

You went down to the living room and saw your dad unpacking other things, so you told him you were going to head out and check the premises. There was this gnawing feeling inside you when you passed by that old, abandoned basketball court. You couldn’t quite put your finger on it, but it was the only thing that felt familiar.

And then it became a habit. Every day, you walked toward the court, your mind empty, then sat there for a couple of hours until the dark started consuming your vision, and you’d know it was time to go home. Your dad noticed your strange behavior but, oddly, didn’t comment on it—he just smiled.

One morning, while eating breakfast with him, you asked:

"Did I play basketball before?" You felt so drawn to it, but not enough to buy a ball and actually play.

"No, you preferred swimming. You liked to excel in areas where physicality and aggression weren’t present. You liked to draw, you could sing, not sure if you danced though, but definitely swimming. That was your therapy," he said, a faraway look in his eyes.

"So, why was I drawn to that place? It’s the only familiar thing here."

"Oh, honey. I did say you didn’t play, but you loved to watch someone who did."

Your heart stopped upon hearing that. I used to watch someone play basketball in that court? Is that it? Was it special?

"Who, Dad?" Your heart was thumping.

"A friend, honey. But I think she’s not around here anymore," your dad said with a sad smile, followed by a sigh.

"Oh." That was all you could say. What a wasted opportunity to regain my memories.

Days passed, and you slowly adjusted to your new life. You read through your past documents, searching for articles that might be crucial to your development. On your free time, of course, the basketball court became your personal meditation place. But ever since that conversation with your dad, coming here felt like you were being watched. You were certain no one was close enough to actually be watching you, except for the passing vehicles on the block. You thought you were just being paranoid.

Until one sunset, a car abruptly stopped in the distance. You turned your head, thinking there might have been an accident because of how loud the screeching of the tires was. But then, you saw a woman with blonde hair step out—blue eyes, glowing skin—and suddenly, you were holding your head because it hurt. Snapshots of memories flooded your brain, all with the same description of the woman, but with no face.

Once the pain subsided, you finally felt hopeful and happy that someone might hold the key to your memories. But when you came face to face with the woman—eye to eye—all you saw was hatred.

charles leclerc has never been on your podcast. it isn’t for the lack of trying per se but rather out of your own sheer stubbornness and need to protect your pride. chasing red, the motorsport podcast you’d built from the ground up, consists of you and your best friend emma. months ago, emma had emailed charles inviting him as a guest with emma alone as the host. it’s already unusual in itself considering you’re in every episode, but charles had replied to the email with a sort of snarkiness you aren’t used to but definitely not surprised to hear.

it had been short and to the point and you’d rolled your eyes when you read it. if charles wanted to be petty then you’re certainly not about to appear on his doorstep begging him to come on your show. charles seems to forget that he’s gotten his pettiness from you. 

still, after that particularly irritating email, emma had been badgering you to explain what had happened. charles leclerc is the nice guy after all. who else would let ferrari fuck them over as much and still scream forza ferrari at the top of his lungs? according to emma, it’s simply impossible for charles to respond in such a way without some hidden history between the two of you. 

and she wouldn’t be wrong but you’d been able to keep that under wraps pretty well. you’ve kept your past right where it belongs – in the past and in your opinion, there’s simply no need to dig up old bones. of course, up until now as you watched with furrowed brows as your name trended on twitter. it seems no matter how deep you bury old bones, it comes back and haunts you – or in your case, bites you in the ass.

“you dated him!” you winced at emma’s sharp tone. you already feel a headache coming in – you hadn’t expected to be shoved down memory lane at a random tuesday if you’re being completely honest and you’re definitely not in the right state of mind to be dealing with it. 

“keep your voice down,” you say, putting your phone down and allowing yourself a sip of your coffee as you try to ignore emma’s incredulous looks. 

“you dated him?” she says again, in a sarcastic whisper this time that made you roll your eyes. you hated her sometimes. you love her of course, but you really hate her sometimes. 

and you hate whichever idiot got ahold of those photos. everyone seems to have so much to say but they can’t seem to comprehend that the charles and y/n in those photos aren’t the same charles and y/n now. you’re both grown now, no longer little kids fueled only with dreams and ambitions. now you’re fueled entirely by coffee and the will to not stalk his social media. 

you’re over charles leclerc. you’re so over him that you spend all your time applauding yourself just how over him you are. of course, you’ve seen charles around after the break up. you both live in monaco after all. it’s impossible not to accidentally pass by each other walking to the grocery store or be at the same restaurant or the same party. you’ve seen him around the paddock multiple times but neither of you say anything. sometimes your eyes meet and the familiarity in each other is difficult to ignore but mostly, you just walk past each other as though you’re strangers, as if you hadn’t spent your childhood memorizing the patterns in his eyes. 

you groaned at where your mind went. this is the last thing you want to be thinking – or talking – about at eight in the morning. you blame twitter and emma entirely for your predicament. it doesn’t help that you share an apartment with her too. 

“no comment,” you say finally at her expectant face. 

her little evil grin terrifies you as he picks up a stack of papers from the coffee table, placing it in front of you. “i’d suggest clearing the air between the two of you before thursday because you’re spending vegas with ferrari.” 

you almost spit your coffee as you grabbed the paper and double checked. unfortunately, there it is in plain sight, your sponsor team right next to ferrari. the document contains your schedule for vegas as an F1 presenter. you’ve been lucky enough not to be assigned to ferrari since you’ve been assigned the job three months ago. but alas, all your bad karma seems to have finally caught up with you today as you read through your itinerary, the first words being an ice breaker game with carlos sainz and charles leclerc proceeding with a hot lap with one of the drivers on friday.

Inconsistencies between the Yingdu timeline and the season 1 & 2 timeline

Okay, so the final episode of Yingdu is right around the corner, which means this will probably be my last analysis of this arc. I’ve made some posts before discussing the discrepancies between what has happened in Yingdu and what we’ve seen in seasons 1 and 2 (which I’m going to refer to as the current timeline), but I decided to write everything down in a single post.

1. Cheng Xiaoshi's parents

One thing I’ve noticed is that, throughout season 1, Cheng Xiaoshi doesn’t seem to know anything about his parents’ whereabouts. The only thing we do know is that he believes they disappeared one day without explanation. At one point, he even considered the possibility that they had died in the earthquake. He has no idea where they are or any clue as to what happened to them.

On the other hand, in Yingdu, he has an important lead about his father’s whereabouts. He knows where his father went after abandoning him, he saw and spoke to him (even if it was through someone else’s body), but he interacted with him nonetheless. Now, Cheng Xiaoshi believes his father may have died in that fire—something he seems completely unaware of in the current timeline.

2. The basketball game

This is a smaller detail, but I think it’s worth pointing out: the way Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi met during their basketball game in Yingdu is not the same as the flashback we saw in season 1. This could be explained by saying that the flashback was from Lu Guang’s perspective, meaning it was his memory of the first/original timeline.

3. Cheng Xiaoshi’s death scene

Another significant change is Cheng Xiaoshi’s death scene. The flashback at the end of season 2 differs from what we saw in Yingdu. In the flashback, they were in some sort of forest(?), their positions were different, Lu Guang had his hand underneath Cheng Xiaoshi’s head, and only one of his hands was stained with blood—quite different from how it played out in Yingdu.

4. Liu Xiao and the Quede Games card

Another interesting detail is Liu Xiao and the card he gives them with the Quede Games name on it. Yes, Cheng Xiaoshi is the one who receives the card, and he might forget about this small detail in the future, but I find it really curious that the creators chose to include this here. We know that the Quede Games case is the first one in Link Click, and it’s not just any case—it’s the one that started the entire conflict of seasons 1 and 2. It’s a bit strange that Lu Guang doesn’t seem to connect LIU Xiao with LIU Min and the Quede Games incident, but this might just be a plot hole.

5. Cheng Xiaoshi awakening his powers

Now, the most significant detail, in my opinion, is the way Cheng Xiaoshi awakens his powers. In season 1 episode 8, we got a small flashback of Lu Guang explaining how their abilities work together. This happened at the studio—not in a hotel in Yingdu.

And, of course, there’s the fact that Cheng Xiaoshi has already discovered that he can dive on his own—something he didn’t seem aware of in the current timeline until after the Emma case, when he attempted to enter a photo on his own and succeeded. There’s no way he just forgot he could do this. He’s not that dense, come on.

Conclusion

Now, I don’t know if Yingdu is going to be another failed timeline, but honestly, I hope it is. Otherwise, there will be a bunch of inconsistencies and plot holes that won’t make much sense. If they confirm Yingdu as another failed timeline, it would actually reinforce Lu Guang’s dialogue from season 2: “I want to use this LAST chance”—implying that he has already repeated this several times. I guess we’ll just have to wait a few more hours to find out.

Emmerdale 2025 Recap

With Ryan Hawley coming back to the show and people tuning into Emmerdale for the first time in many years, I put together a recap of what has happened so far this year and the current storylines playing out on the show. It's kind of long, but hopefully it helps for those that are jumping back in.

April: (Marlon’s daughter) ran away from home at the end of last year. She had started drinking/partying which people attributed to Ross (who has returned to the show) telling her the truth about how her mom Donna died, but in reality April ran away because she was pregnant. She ended up having a stillbirth while homeless and ended up in the hospital with near fatal hemorrhaging. While being homeless she became friends with a homeless boy, named Dylan, who is gay and a drug addict. He showed up briefly in the village and April convinced Marlon to let him stay with them. Marlon didn’t trust him and stole drugs from the vet’s office to plant them on him. Afterward he felt guilty and offered to pay for him to go to rehab. Dylan ended up covering for him with April and kept the truth about what Marlon did to himself, but Marlon ended up confessing later on after he saw April received a letter from Dylan in rehab. *This storyline is going to continue in some way as the character of Dylan is set to return.

Quick update on Ross: He returned last year and revealed that him and Rebecca had broken up, and then she died and custody of Seb was given to some aunt of Rebecca’s that she was apparently close to and no one ever knew about. Upon coming back into the village, he got into a relationship with a woman named Steph, but she broke up with him after being unable to deal with trauma she was going through. More on her family below (it does involve Aaron). Also, just recently it was revealed that Ross has a half brother named Lewis. Emma, his mom, secretly had him, but no one knew he existed. Lewis is also gay and autistic.

Valentine’s Day Tragedy: Two groups (one female, one male) decided to go out on the town, however, Mandy ended up in the boys limo and Liam in the girl’s because Liam wanted to propose to Chas. Caleb (Cain and Chas’s half brother) was driving the limo with the men and Charity was driving the limo with the women when suddenly Charity saw Noah, her son, looking dazed in the middle of the road. She swerved to avoid hitting him and ended up on the frozen lake where the ice started to crack. As a result of the accident, Liam had a serious head injury, Suzy (Vanessa’s girlfriend) instantly died, Amy (Matty’s wife and Kerry’s daughter) died in the hospital from hypothermia, and Leyla (Jacob’s mom) died en route to the hospital in the ambulance.

Jacob/Sarah: Jacob and Sarah had been dating. Jacob wants to become a doctor and has been working in the ER which he’s been struggling with. After the accident he was left grieving Leyla and decided to break up with Sarah because he doesn’t want to love and lose anybody else. (Sarah has Fanconi Anemia so the life expectancy is much shorter). Sarah was left heartbroken but then started to move on with a guy named Kammy (they’re currently not together though). She also thought she might have been pregnant when Jacob broke up with her, but she wasn’t. She has been looking into having a baby on her own though, and in doing so, she just found out she has cervical cancer. Currently Jacob is the only one that knows.

Joe Tate & Everyone: Oh boy. Joe Tate returned to the show, but it was made clear to the audience that he had some sort of illness he was hiding from everyone. Upon his return he also started an affair with Dawn, Billy’s wife. It soon became evident that whatever was going on with Joe involved him wanting something from Noah. He started giving his business bad reviews and as a result offered to help Noah by setting him up with a job in Dubai. Ultimately Noah decided to turn it down. Cue Valentine’s Day tragedy with a dazed Noah in the middle of the road. We later find out that Joe needed a kidney transplant and he had drugged Noah in order to get him tested to see if he was a match (he wasn’t). But basically instead of making sure he was delivered safely home, he got dropped off in the middle of nowhere. So Joe’s actions led to the deaths of Leyla, Amy, and Suzy. Side note about Suzy: she was in a relationship with Vanessa, but kissed Rhona’s mom Mary, who she had feelings for. Vanessa found out about this after Suzy’s death and that’s what the beef between her and Mary (and sometimes Rhona) is. Back to Joe now. When Joe couldn’t get a kidney transplant from Noah, he decided to test Caleb, who is his uncle from the Tate side. Joe tricked Manpreet (town Doctor) into giving him a sample of Caleb’s blood. Once he confirmed Caleb was a match, he had someone attack him. He was supposed to have just been knocked out but instead was stabbed. Joe stole his kidney and had his transplant. Caleb almost died but ended up surviving and was dropped off at a hospital. He knew he lost a kidney but it was thought to be from the attack and he didn’t know the extent of what had happened to him. Finally he figured out the truth, however, at the same time Joe was also figuring out that the father of Caleb’s wife Ruby, may have not left town like people assume, but was actually killed by Caleb (this is wrong - it was Ruby, more on that below, but it was close enough to the truth to where they basically both agreed to keep each other’s secrets). With that said, the rest of the town now knows the truth about Joe being responsible for what happened on Valentine’s Day because Noah found out and told everyone. Joe ended up going through a window (he was pushed by Dawn which he remembered and forgave her for, but the police’s lead suspect was Noah), so in order for Joe to avoid punishment for everything he did, he told Noah to take back his statement or Noah would basically go down for what happened to him. If Noah takes back his statement, Joe will tell the police he slipped. He also gave Noah money, so Noah took back his statement (much to the anger of everyone in town). Dawn also avoids punishment for pushing Joe, and now Joe and Dawn are in a relationship because Dawn is an idiot.

Ruby/Caleb/Steph/Anthony/Aaron/John/Chas/Cain/Moira/Nate/Tracey:

Moira had a brain tumor no one knew about that was causing her to act erratic/forget things. During one of these episodes she tried to kiss Nate, Cain’s son. Caleb saw and exposed this. This came after Caleb had, had an affair with Tracey, Nate’s wife. Cain thought something was going on between Moira and Nate again (they slept together years ago) so he kicked off. After Tracey’s affair and Cain turning his back on him for the Moira situation, Nate decided to leave town for a new job. Since then his family thinks he cut himself off from everyone, including his child as he hasn't been sending any monetary support for her which has led to Tracey being broke and even stealing money from Eric for a period of time. What they all don’t know is that Nate actually wanted to make things work with Tracey but he never got the chance because John killed him. John dumped his body in the lake which Amy saw during the Valentine’s Day tragedy when she went under the water. She tried to tell people when she briefly woke up in the hospital but they didn’t understand and then she died. The body that was discovered this past week was his, not Anthony’s, so that’ll come out shortly.

Anthony, the father of Ruby, Caleb’s wife, shows up in town and it is eventually revealed that he used to sexually abuse Ruby when she was a teenager. Chas figures it out first, recognizing the signs from Aaron’s past, and then tells Caleb. It is also revealed through a paternity test that their daughter Steph is really Anthony’s daughter and the product of incest. There are only select people who know the truth about Steph's paternity (Ruby, Caleb, Cain, Moira, Chas, Aaron, John, Steph, and Ross). Jai doesn’t know about Steph’s paternity but he does know about Ruby’s sexual abuse. Anthony and Aaron get into a confrontation and Anthony begins to push Aaron regarding Ruby and his abuse, saying how they both wanted it etc. Aaron ends up losing it and beats Anthony. He goes home and ends up taking John back to the site where they discover Anthony dead. Thinking it was due to Aaron, John covers it up, but it’s later revealed that after Aaron left Anthony, Ruby came in and was the one that killed him. The same people that know about the sexual abuse are also the same that know about the murder (with the exception of Ross and Jai - they don’t know Anthony is dead. Joe believes Anthony is dead but thinks Caleb did it because he was abusive to Ruby but doesn’t know it was specifically sexual).

Also as a side note: After Anthony first came to town, Ruby was a mess. Cain was also a mess thinking Moira was going to die during her brain surgery. They ended up sleeping together. It didn’t mean anything, but Anthony found out, told Caleb, and then he exposed it in front of other people so Cain had to tell Moira. Both couples worked it out and are still together, but the relationship between Caleb and Cain has still been strained, though it’s gotten better since Caleb lost his kidney.

John:

Showed up into town and was a hookup that Aaron met on an app. Was eventually revealed to be a long-lost son of Jack that he had after Robert’s mother died. At first he didn’t want anything to do with Victoria and planned on leaving town, but ended up staying for Aaron who he was falling for. Basically everyone thinks he’s the greatest cause he’s constantly saving people. Some people he actually helped without hurting them. Some people he hurt in order to save them. He has a MAJOR hero complex and is a complete psycho. I’m just going to give a rundown of everything he’s done that I can remember off the top of my head.

His ex-fiancée, Aiden, was in the military with him and he was “injured” on patrol when he was alone with John and ended up in a coma. We don’t really know what specifically John did to him but it’s implied he did do something to him as Aiden just recently had woken up and John was going to kill him to prevent him from ever telling anyone what he did, but he couldn’t go through with it at the last minute and then Aiden had a heart attack. He was going to let him die, but then his hero complex kicked in again and he pulled the alarm and started CPR. He’s alive but is in a coma again.

Drugged Nate to “save” him, but ended up killing him instead and then threw his body in the lake.

Drugged Chas to “save” her and then made it look like Liam’s ex-girlfriend, Ella, was responsible.

Attacked Liam from behind to get revenge on him for “humiliating” him for missing a diagnosis at work and continued to frame Liam’s ex-girlfriend for the injury.

Put Jacob into an anaphylactic shock to “save” him and to also win Liam’s favor back.

Messed with the slurry tank at the Farm in order to frame/get payback on Mack, who didn't like him, and to also “help” with the cleanup. Ended up poisoning a few residents, including his own nephew (Victoria’s son) after it got into the town’s drinking water.

After Aaron got mad that Mack said he wouldn’t be his best man anymore (everyone hated him for the slurry tank incident so he thought it would be best to not be involved in the wedding), John tampered with a trailer Moira was working on so it would collapse on her, and then got Mack up to the farm so he [Mack] could save Moira and people would forgive him so he’d agree to be Aaron’s best man again.

Also important to note that John has lied a lot. Obvious about his crimes, yes, but he also lied about Aiden to Aaron and told him he was dead and what his funeral was like etc. Eventually Aaron found out that Aiden was alive and in a coma but John basically gave Aaron a story about how he felt guilt for not being able to save him and he was never going to wake up and all this other stuff. Idk. His go to seems to be to get mad and then make people feel sorry so they forgive him. He also does NOT like to be reprimanded. For a while Mack hated John and it didn’t seem like Liam liked him either but now they both seem to be okay with him, so unfortunately there isn’t anyone left in town that doesn’t think he isn’t a good guy.

Other random village bits:

Eric has Parkinson's and was scammed out of all his money. Recently Brenda and Cathy went on a 3-month cruise, but I believe that the actress who plays Brenda is leaving the show for good so I don't think she'll be coming back. Paddy and Mandy are still a couple. Rhona and Marlon are still a couple (but boy did that get rocky for a while). Liv's former husband Vinny is with Gaby now. Victoria is single. She was dating David and then she got with his son, Jacob, for a while and that caused David to leave (gone for good). Belle is also single. She was in an abusive marriage with Tom King, Jimmy's nephew and after a long time finally got some justice with him going to prison (unfortunately it wasn't a very long sentence).

That's it! Hopefully that's enough info to know where everyone is currently at and gives enough context for things mentioned on the show.

I went a little off-track, mb 😭

- He didn’t really have any interest in girls, until him and Emma were just going back and forth with insults and she said that he gets no girls. It made him stop and actually think. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d liked a girl or a girl liked him back.

- So naturally he decided to give the whole relationship thing a go. The only problem was to find someone willing to be his girlfriend.

- He went to school to try and find a girl who might like him, he didn’t have any specific girl he liked so he was open to anyone. You sat next him in a couple of classes, but since he never never came, he didn’t know. You guys got to talking and he quickly found himself enjoying your little daily talks!

- It progressed and it wasn’t until Draken noticed him getting visibly happy whenever someone mentioned your name that he liked you. Mikey honestly didn’t think it was a big deal until Mitsuya pointed out that you might only see him as a friend. That’s when he got a little panicked.

- This was the first (and would be the only) time he’d ever liked a girl. We all know if you’re friends with Mikey that it will last literal TIMELINES because he’s incredibly loyal and expects others to be as well. That’s why he expected your guys’ current friendship to last that long too.

- He realized that confessing could ruin that if you didn’t like him back and if you did you two could end up breaking up since he didn’t know much about relationships anyway.

- So for a couple of months he just lived with his giant crush on you.

- I don’t think he’d be scared of introducing you to Toman since he knows he’s literally ‘The Invincible Mikey’ (or was it unbeatable I can’t remember). He could just protect you if anything were to happen! And he expected every Toman member to do the same.

- Everyone in Toman knows Mikey likes you. In fact, you seem to be the only one who hasn’t noticed.

- When Takemichi found out that Mikey liked you, he was ready to help his friend out. So he gave Mikey advice that he got from Hina. He told Mikey to be a gentleman and to be straight up with his feelings.

- You and Emma happened to be good friends and you’d even been to her house a couple times. You’d never met Mikey there though, you only knew that Emma had a brother and a grandpa. But you’d met her Grandpa and he was a nice old man.

- Mikey happened to be home but he ignored the fact Emma had someone over since he didn’t know any of them. But then he went into Emma’s room to tell her something and he froze when you’d said hi to him.

- HOW WERE YOU IN HIS HOUSE? IN HIS SISTER’S ROOM? WHEN DID YOU GUYS EVEN MEET?-

- Emma was surprised that you and Mikey knew each other, but brushed it off since she didn’t have to introduce Mikey.

- But then Mikey was visibly getting happy when talking to you, and Emma could swear she saw him blushing..

- That’s how Emma found out he had a massive crush on you, and she was a little mad because you and her had been friends longer than you’d known Mikey. She was sure that her brother’s feelings weren’t genuine. She didn’t want Mikey to ever confess, in case the relationship didn’t work out and you stopped being friends with her because it was awkward.

- But when she noticed his feelings were actually genuine she was hell-bent on getting him to confess.

- So he finally relented. But before he did anything, he begged Emma to ask you if you liked him, even just a bit.

- So she called you the next day and asked. You didn’t want to tell Emma that you liked her BROTHER so you avoided the question. But then she said she didn’t mind if you liked her brother and that she would be your wingwoman if you did. That’s when you finally confessed to her that you’d liked Mikey for a couple weeks now.

- She had to cover Mikey’s mouth to stop him from confessing right then and there over the phone.

- So after he found out he was happy but a little confused. Why would you like him of all people? But on the surface he was telling his friends things like “Of course she likes me, I’m the strongest!” (it’s giving gojo)

- Planned a wholeeeee thing to ‘indirectly’ confess to you. He didn’t want to do all the work in your guys’ obvious upcoming relationship. So Draken and Mitsuya planned something to help. (Mikey just sat there eating dorayaki and rambling on ab all the cute things he wants to do once you inevitably become his gf)

- The plan was that Emma would ask you to walk home with her, so then after school you’d wait until she came out to go. But Emma would take a while to leave you waiting. Then a short distance away from you, Mikey would talk to his friends with a loud ass voice. Then he’d be all like “Yeah, Y/N is really pretty, I would love to go out with her.”

- And then you’d be all like “omg!!! mikey, you’re the love of my life!!! <3”

- But he happened to be daydreaming the last part.. Although, his plan was bound to elicit SOMETHING!

- Little did they know Emma was a double agent and had told you her brother loves you and that you should confess. At first, you would’ve been like ‘no way!’. But Emma spent ages convincing you and managed to get you to do it on the same day Mikey was supposed to.

- So on the day he was going to indirectly confess, Emma got you to go outside right after school and ask to speak with him privately.

- He was caught a little off guard but went w/ you.

- To cut this short you guys kissed and are a couple now, yay!

- Now onto the actual relationship headcannons, I’m sorry the bit before was a lot longer than I expected 😭

- His friends gag whenever you guys kiss near them.

- “Jeez, get a room!”

- “Stop swapping spit and pay attention, Mikey you dumbass!”

- “It looks like he’s eating her, wtf??”

- “Y/N, are you okay?!! My brother is disgusting!!”

- guess who says each of those lol

- Will lick your cheek but gets shocked if you do it back.

- You’re the only person he shares his snacks with, and even then you barely get any 😔

- He loves taking you out on late-night motorcycle rides where you scream because he’s going way too fast.

- He doesn’t wear a helmet, but expects you to wear one for your safety.

- “Aren’t you gonna wear a helmet, Manjiro?”

- “Nope, I’m good.”

- Likes it when you call him by his actual name, since it’s been a while since anyone has. (he acts like he doesn’t tell everyone to call him mikey)

- One time, you wanted to have a cute date where you two read books w/ each other but he ended up falling asleep 10 minutes in.

- Took you out to eat after though, partly bc he gets hungry after waking up.

- But right after he ate, he fell asleep again and you had to call Draken to come help you lift Mikey 😭😭

- His sleeping and then eating thing is a vicious cycle

- Draken sees you as a sister, and if anyone were to be his wingwoman or wingman with Emma it would be you.

- You edge along their relationship by saying things to them like

- “Emma, Draken was asking about you!”

- “Guess what, Draken? Emma asked about you!”

- Mikey gets huffy though.

- Likes when you kiss him w/ lipstick on because it leaves a stain on his lips.

- You did face masks with him once and put cucumbers over his eyes but then he ate them 😒

- Loves eating things with you. Mf will show up at your door with bags of food from some new restaurant he found asking to try it with you.

- The first time you baked smth for him, he didn’t leave your side for a week.

- He’s actually very sweet when he wants to be, but it’s only when you two are alone. He likes to hold your hand whilst you’re watching something or reading. It makes him comfortable.

- You probably have to do his hair in the morning like Draken does 😭😭

- Draken appreciates it tho

- Even though Toman knows about you, you wouldn’t have to worry about other gangs getting to you because Mikey simply won’t let it happen. He’s already taken care of that by having Sanzu watch you as well! :)

- Sanzu did NOT like you at first but he grew to tolerate you then after a while he sort of liked you.

- When you and Mikey were first dating, he probably gave you the nastiest stink eyes. He also tripped you up once but no one suspected him..

- He’s very loyal, I don’t see him cheating or breaking up with you. Especially because he really loves you and can’t imagine his life without you now.

- Blanket hogger. Will literally tear it off of you whilst he’s sleeping and lay down on top of it. (sometimes he fakes being asleep to do this to you bc he likes pissing you off 😭😭)

- If you guys have an argument, I don’t think he’s the type of guy to say ‘sorry’ but he’ll do things to show you he’s sorry. He’ll you your favorite food, buys you a plushie or just hug you quietly.

- He will only say sorry if it was a serious argument, and if he was really in the wrong. But luckily you guys don’t really argue. Anytime Mikey feels an argument coming on, he’ll discreetly diffuse it by catching you off-guard with a kiss or something. (i can’t tell if that’s a little toxic or not)

We’ve been illustrating the Protogear! The design underwent simplification and minor shape alteration to better fit multiple cat heads. But, we believe the item to be just as cute!

New Decor

As we mentioned previously, Decor was not working out initially! We’ve since transitioned to doing Decor in the same style as cats, intending to replicate the style of animated stills.

This was an excellent decision. Our team is not only more equipped to handle stylistic consistency, but is much faster at production too.

Aesthetic changes

We’ve been busy hunting down and squishing visual errors and inconsistencies, such as wrongly formatted buttons. Additionally, we managed to do several general reformatting to prevent pages and modules from breaking. 

Mobile optimization

And we made a huge push for mobile optimization as well, below is the user settings page as currently appears on mobile devices.

Forum Crests

We also got the forum crests formatting nicely! In addition, we are playing with the idea of providing a function for users to select the background color of their avatar. We can’t wait to see everyone’s avatars and crest choices!

Premium shop

In addition, we not only have functioning reward codes, but we’ve also added the ability for users to pay for virtual content. Introducing the premium shop! We’ve added a wide range of silver amounts, and you can also custom-select the amount of silver you wish to purchase. Our regular silver amounts also offer bonus silver, depending on the quantity, and the same applies to custom amounts bought. Additionally, we're introducing bundles, which offer silver, copper, and various items at a discounted price! Bundles displayed are currently placeholder previews for testing purposes.

Our next focus is polishing the pelt system, that being said: we are on the right track for closed beta. Thank you so much for all the patience while we do the fixing up for beta. We really want users to have a smooth experience when we pass out all 1500+ beta keys, so we're doing a lot to make sure it's a properly prepared application! We're currently looking at the date being announced somewhere in a month's time, but we'll keep up to date progress on what we're working on in the meantime.

To summarize: We shared accessory recolor and general progress, decors, and a work in progress fauna. In addition, we also shared our current progress in the development, our focus lately laid on visual inconsistencies, getting the reward codes and forum crests working, and creating the premium shop.

nope !! gene still did all the "someone needs to remember" stuff... emma was always meant to be an addition to the lore, not a subtraction... i partially came up with it as a kid because i thought it was a clever way to explain why dante would never have brought up emma - he doesn't remember her! so he CAN'T mention her!

but SHE remembers him - so actually ("crazy for Dante if his sister turns up as a guard and he's just gotta pretend he doesn't know her"), SHE'S the one pretending not to know him! the first person who finds out she knows dante is laurance, because laurance sees her staring with a deep longing sadness at dante all the time and assumes she's yearning romantically... to which she protests in horror "?!? HE'S MY BROTHER!??!" without thinking and then she has to explain EVERYTHING to him lmao

(i fear dante is like. the last to know. because she keeps telling everybody not to tell him. then when he finds out, he doesn't believe it, and gives emma the cold shoulder while he tries to sort it out. she lets him, because she's not sure he should be talking to her anyway... but it wasn't meant to be forever! dante just needed a few days to process! but... then he doesn't see emma for 15 years. haha .)

her lore is currently undergoing a little reworking now that i'm better at writing + rewatching diaries, and this is one aspect i'm reconsidering, BUT - at time of writing - emma is not a knight of phoenix drop at any point! she kind of is in everything but name - she'll do anything to protect aphmau and phoenix drop, and has the means to do so, and is close with many of aphmau's knights. but she doesn't like fighting, and she doesn't want to be considered a knight.

gene was a knight. she never wants to be like him.

that taste will never get out of her mouth. and she wasn't officially trained as a knight; any training of that sort was from gene in the nether. so she really doesn't like associating with it, and she isn't technically qualified.

at the same time...

dante is also a knight, and she could never be good like him.

somehow she's torn between "i don't want to be a knight because they're bad" and "i don't deserve to be a knight because i am bad".... and BOTH feelings are fueled by her family issues!

so she doesn't consider herself a knight, and rejects any suggestions she should officially become a knight of phoenix drop. she doesn't need to be a knight to protect people she loves, so long as they allow her to <3

(if she DID ever become a knight though, i think it would be between s2 and s3! which is an era i haven't really explored for her with canon in mind so i plan to get to that tehee)

as for the last name - if you're willing to loan that to me i actually LOVE that, "emmalyn alighieri" is so pretty??? and i love the explanation ..

What's the origin of your blog title?

when i was a teenager being a closeted pre-transition trans guy i felt really invisible and like i didnt fit in anywhere, a "ghost". and 512 is the name of a song i listened to a lot at the time. nowadays i find the url a bit cringy but im too lazy to change it lol
