NaNoWriMo Day 1!
So! I have put 367 words down for my nanowrimo novel this year. Will update more today, obviously, but every story needs a starting point!
I'm so excited for nanowrimo this year, I was literally counting down the days in October to the second it became 12 am on November 1st.
I will post again once I reach 5k, (and 10k, 15k, 20k, etc). I'll probably just reblog this post, if I'm honest. So stay tuned for that!

Webb Detects Possible Biosignature Gases in Atmosphere of K2-18b
Astronomers using the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope have detected the chemical fingerprints of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and/or dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) in the atmosphere of the super-Earth exoplanet K2-18b. On Earth, DMS and DMDS are only produced by life, primarily microbial life such as marine phytoplankton. While an unknown chemical process may be the source of these molecules in K2-18b’s atmosphere, the results are the strongest evidence yet that life may exist on an extrasolar planet.
K2-18 is a red dwarf located approximately 111 light-years away in the constellation of Leo.
Also known as EPIC 201912552, the star hosts two massive exoplanets: K2-18b and K2-18c.
First discovered in 2015, K2-18b has a radius of 2.6 times that of Earth and is about 8.6 times as massive.
The planet orbits its star every 33 days at a distance of approximately 0.15 AU and has an Earth Similarity Index of 0.73.
It receives 1.28 times the light intensity of Earth, and its equilibrium temperature is minus 2 degrees Celsius (28 degrees Fahrenheit).
Earlier observations of K2-18b identified methane and carbon dioxide in its atmosphere. This was the first time that carbon-based molecules were discovered in the atmosphere of an exoplanet in the habitable zone.
Those results were consistent with predictions for a Hycean world: a habitable ocean-covered exoplanet underneath a hydrogen-rich atmosphere.

And don't forget 🍉🍉🍉
This is Israa, a Palestinian woman that needs your help to keep her family safe.
She personally asked me to help her share her story.
"I am an engineer Israa from Gaza. Escaping the harrowing WAR in Gaza, my journey southward was fraught with peril as I fled the relentless bombardment of Israeli airstrikes. Each step was a battle for survival.
NOW, myself and my family living in a tent in the displaced camp in Rafah, this is a challenging journey after the loss of my home, and all means of income. My family and I have faced immense hardship, struggling to make ends meet amidst the turmoil in Gaza. This war has completely destroyed my future and my kid's future as well.
With your help, I dream of giving my children and loved ones a better future and beginning a fresh start. Your support will let us rebuild our lives completely and make sure my family is safe and happy."
Please share and donate.

Hey guys have been doing some data analysis on hit TV show 9-1-1 today as one does, and basically:
- based on data from 7x01 to present (8x04, excluding 7x08 as none of the related characters are in this episode).
- Buck says "Eddie" an average of 0 (ZERO) times per episode if Tommy is not present.
- if Tommy is in a scene, Buck says "Eddie" an average of 2.75 times per episode.
- this is over double Buck's over all "Eddie" average per episode since season 2, which is currently 1.08 EPEs (eddie-per-episodes).
Tumblr media
(here is my graph with data from S2 to S7, I will make a new one maybe at end of 8A but definitely by the end of season 8)
More data/analyses under the cut
If anyone is curious on similar data for Eddie:
- 0.4 BPEs if no T.
- 1.125 BPEs if T present.
(currently overall, Eddie is at 0.73 BPEs)
Sorry if I counted anything wrong lmao ANYWAY we bear in mind that when Tommy is present it is due to a Buck/Eddie plot in that episode (because they are often deliberately paired together by the writers) and just have more lines anyway so may be more likely to speak each others' names.
To me this highlights that Buck and Eddie are being heavily linked together whenever Tommy is there, which indicates that the writers want the audience to associate Buck's romantic relationships with Eddie. Also when interpreting Tommy as a storytelling device used to represent part of Buck's queer awakening, having Eddie be tied to this is another potentially interesting writing choice.
Basically gay Eddie is haunting bi Buck's narrative and Buck is narratively condemned to be unable to separate his queerness from his attachment to Eddie

Multigender Combination Frequency Map
I got bored, so I started playing around with numbers. I was curious, what is the most common multigender combination that exists? As a specific example, are agender men more common than non-binary women? Well thanks to the gender census 2024 data, I found that out:
PERCENTAGES:
Ordered from least to most common, the percentage of census participants that identified as:
Agender Woman | 0.02% Agender Non-Binary Woman | 0.15% Just a Woman | 0.24% Agender Man | 0.36% Agender Man Woman | 0.37% Non-Binary Woman | 0.73% Just a Man | 1.71% Agender Man Non-Binary | 2.02% Man Woman | 2.74% Just Agender | 2.99% Agender Man Non-Binary Woman | 3.84% Man Non-Binary | 6.16% None of these umbrellas OR did not answer gender identity related questions | 10.46% Man Non-Binary Woman | 12.89% Agender Non-Binary | 13.97% Just Non-Binary | 41.34%
Individuals who only identify with one umbrella: 46.28% Individuals who identify with multiple umbrellas: 43.25% Unknown: 10.46%
MAP:
This is a map (where pink = highest in frequency, and blue = lowest in frequency) that represents the order of frequency based on the values above. To help explain:
Agender Woman = #1 = very blue,
Agender Non-Binary Woman = #2 = blue
Non-Binary = #15 = very pink
Agender = #10 = both pink and blue (purple)
Tumblr media
KEY POINTS:
For some reason, agender women don't exist (joke). I have some theories of why this is the case but it's probably a bit too political for Tumblr lol. Many individuals seem satisfactory as describing themselves as off the binary, or off the binary and slightly agender. Only 2% of queer individuals identify as just one binary gender. Essentially, multigendered-ness is very common, alongside identifying as non-binary.
DISCLAIMER:
It is not representative of the general populace, it is representative of individuals who are not solely cisgender binary (as according to the census description). For example, do not take this as "Wow, only 1.71% of the human population are just men!". Instead, take this as "Wow, only 1.71% of genderqueer individuals are just men!".
CALCULATIONS:
This is how I found these numbers.
1. I copied the raw data from gender census form. 2. I created a filter that checked for any mention of man, woman, non-binary, agender, AND their variants such as guy, enby, genderless, etc. I removed any mentions of "Not man", "non woman", etc. as these anti- terms are too ambiguous to work with for this specific research. (thank you for existing, regex) 3. I simplified these terms into just woman, man, non-binary, or agender. I realise that some individuals identify as boys and not men specifically, but for the sake of this research - we're looking at the overall gender umbrella, not the specific language used. 4. I created a count for each possible combination of these four genders. 5. I divided each count out of the total results to get the percentage.
----
P.S. Thanks to my Discord server members for helping me test out the concept with a smaller sample.

Your fans are glad you’re back. Tumblr hasn’t been the same without you
T Count: 5
Letter Count: 68
Your T Percentage: 7.35%
Average T Percentage: 10.12%
You used the letter T 0.73 times as much as average.
Thank you to those fans, who are tirelessly tolerant of my absence throughout this turbulent time of the past year or so in which I have not been posting. I shall endeavour to post more reliably.

Momo stickers are only $3 with $1 shipping!
Breaking down the costs for y’all!
Each sticker cost me $1.03 each, shipping is $0.73+ $0.25 for the envelopes, which means I’m spending $2.01 at a minimum, PLUS the 5% fee for kofi to send me my money through PayPal.
It’ll be even more to ship outside of America(coming soon).
I physically cannot charge any less or I simply will not make enough profit to continue making stickers.
I’m saying this because other artists don’t. People think that a sticker like mine, that is UV proof, waterproof, and won’t rub off are the same cost and quality as any other cheap sticker you can get for $1. These stickers cost ME $1.03 each to MAKE, and that’s ordering in bulk.
I am doing my best to provide these stickers at a decent price while also making a profit for myself. Please understand that. Thank you!

Yet another study showing increased complications for women who get covid during pregnancy. The ill effects extended to both the mothers and the infants with an increase in pre-term labor, stillbirth, preeclampsia, and postpartum bleed.
"Just a cold."
Abstract Objectives This study aims to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on pregnancy and labor, focusing on its effects on maternal and child health. The research explores the relationships between coronavirus infection and clinical and laboratory parameters, as well as the risks of pregnancy complications and adverse birth outcomes.
Methods The study involved 60 pregnant women diagnosed with COVID-19. A comprehensive evaluation of clinical and laboratory indicators was conducted, employing correlation, regression, logistic analyses to determine risk factors.
Results There was a strong inverse correlation between carbon dioxide levels and haematocrit (−0.76), and a direct correlation between blood pH and partial pressure of oxygen (0.73). COVID-19 was associated with increased risks of preterm labor (OR=1.82), stillbirth (OR=2.11), pre-eclampsia (OR=1.46), and foetal distress. Multivariate analysis revealed a 200 g reduction in neonatal birth weight and higher risks of hospitalisation (OR=1.8), postpartum hemorrhage (OR=2.3), and preterm delivery (OR=2.5). Comorbid conditions such as cardiovascular abnormalities, diabetes, obesity, thrombophilias exacerbated the risks of complications, including pre-eclampsia, neonatal respiratory distress syndrome, venous thromboembolism.
Conclusions COVID-19 infection increases the likelihood of pregnancy complications and adverse outcomes, especially in women with comorbidities. These findings highlight the need for preventive strategies and risk management protocols for pregnant women during future outbreaks, emphasizing the importance of further research in this field.

Excerpt from this story from EcoWatch:
The planet just had its hottest April ever recorded, extending a streak of 11 consecutive record-setting months, according to the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S).
The monthly bulletin from C3S said the average global temperature was 1.61 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial average — the highest for a 12-month period. It was also 0.73 degrees Celsius above the average from 1991 to 2020.
“El Niño peaked at the beginning of the year and the sea surface temperatures in the eastern tropical Pacific are now going back towards neutral conditions. However, whilst temperature variations associated with natural cycles like El Niño come and go, the extra energy trapped into the ocean and the atmosphere by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases will keep pushing the global temperature towards new records,” said C3S Director Carlo Buontempo in the report.
For months, ocean surface temperatures broke records as well, leading scientists to ask whether a tipping point due to human activity had been reached, reported Reuters.
“I think many scientists have asked the question whether there could be a shift in the climate system,” said Julien Nicolas, senior climate scientist at C3S, as Reuters reported.
Zeke Hausfather, Berkeley Earth research scientist, has estimated that there is a 66 percent chance this year will be the hottest ever recorded, and a 99 percent likelihood of it being the second hottest, reported CNN. Hausfather added that the best estimate is that the global average temperature for 2024 will be a little higher than 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
