Yes, the first intimacy, in every sense, it was your first real man, you first long love, he was the only one who saw you as an equal, as he had put into your head. He was the only one who saw beauty in you, the only one who could see the thread of your thoughts, the only one who understood you completely. You surrendered to him willingly, gazing mesmerized into his sea eyes as she plunged into that Bermuda triangle of Carpmanian stability.

“Good morning, a heart of mine.”

The first thing you heard in the mornings. As you did now. He was the one who had chosen that nickname, for you had indeed become his soul, laying this burden of two upon herself. You filled you both, gave yourself to him. He had no heart before you came into his life, you became it. How ridiculous, can a heart be a living thing? There was confirmation in front of everyone now

He hugged your body warm from sleep, stroking your soft belly and naked small breasts. Earlier you would have hissed and wrapped yourself in the blanket, embarrassed by the imperfection of your own body, but now, for reasons of indifference, you remained silent. The sun didn't streams into your room, the curtains were on the way, He could resist even nature and forbid to intrude into his life and plans. A kiss. On your temple. Again. Now on the cheek. And again. Already on your neck. You shuddered at his attempt to chase away the dream you’d been grasping hard for. The one chance you'd had not to see him and to be free, but even there he was often there, even there he confined you.

“Come on, kiss me.” Whispers, commanding.

You stretched, turning toward him for a moment, all squinting kittenishly. “Morning breath, I won't.” And there it was again. An attempt to escape, to exploit his own weakness and weapon. He loved cleanliness and order.

“Didn't brush your teeth?”

“Nope, was very tired, I forgot”

And now he was dissatisfied, turning away to get up from the bed on which he had taken you last night before going to bed, it was not clear whether by your will or not. You had given herself to him, but not with the soul he had tried to drink and feel himself beloved.

“We're late today.” Just a fact, he glanced at the white numbers on the black watch. “It's 10:17 and we're still lying around. Let's go to breakfast.”

hey guys so genshin impact has been downloading for like 10 fucking hours nowbecause its downloading 1mb per second which ends up being like. hours long so if anyone knows how to fix it id appreciate the help. I've tried like. basically everything including the like command prompt trick and it hasn't really done much. idk why genshin does this but i kind of like want to gamble my savings (that i don't actually have rn) away instead of just staring at those 2 stupid fuck twins. i don't like this game. related note if anyone knows of a game LIKE genshin that doesn't suck taint balls and cock id also like to know because its so laggy and the updates suck dude and you save for months and end up getting a shit polearm none of your characters can use because you have all sword users on ur team which is LAME AS FUCK but whatever. anyways the new anniversary thing where u get a free 5 star is really cool I'm probably gonna get mona even tho i COULD get a c1 tighnari which would be fun but i don't actually remember what c1 does. i know i like mona tho. also the primogems and wishes are pretty cool. I'm not gonna pull for anyone but that's cause i wanna wait for the leopard girl xilonen i think her name is. i wish this game made her like. tan. because that'd make her hair n clothes stand out more but i really like her rollerskates. anyways send me hate asks instead pls pls pls pls pls please god pls please it'd be so funny

Spartober Day 10 Performance (VerDante)

Author's note: I fucking love Dante being a tease sometimes with Vergil, so thats basically what this is, once again this is suggestive, but theres no full on smut, you wont find it here on this blog (not my writing anyways...) just Dante being a brat and Vergil kinda going with it, other than that Enjoy today's prompt ! Prompts by whatsanapocalae1 (I use a combination of Spartober and Devil MayTober Prompts) 10: Performance(VerDante) Dante chuckled softly as he was showing off his tricks using the Rebellion to spin himself off the ground moving back down in in almost seductive way as he kicked his legs out steadying himself in the suspended by the strength of his arms and his thighs spreading them as he kicked in a downward motion getting back to his feet.

he threw his head up and smirked as his hair fell in his his face, proud of the move he just made, he caught Vergil's eye and winked at him playfully.

"Look like, I'm putting on a show for you, Big Brother~" he purred gently .

Vergil stared coldly at Dante, but after a moment, his stern mask of indifference faltered and he chuckled softly for a moment amused by his brother’s attempts at flirting especially at a time like this, they had slain every monster in the Qliphoth, a chair created for them to rest and recuperate. 

“Impressive.. very well-choreographed.” he said watching Dant close while he slowly sheathed his own Yamato and crossed his arms over his chest.

Dante bit his lip gently "Yeah?, you liked it?...I could do more if you'd like..." he said gently as he put the Rebellion away ,replacing it with a proper staff. He held it, getting ready to make more moves that would satisfy Vergil's need for entertainment as they stood in the underworld.

"I could just slide down..Perfectly.."

Vergil tilted his head upward and looked at his younger brother for a moment, and then said

“That would be acceptable…”

He was visibly impressed, but tried not to show it. He simply looked towards his brother waiting to see what show Dante was going to put up next.

"Your wish is my command Verg.."Dante chuckled as he gripped the staff moving swiftly trying to get back some momentum , once he had gotten the right movements he let his legs wrap around the staff as he hung upside down on it his hair falling back as he did so, he smirked with come hither gleam.

"Cmere big boy~"

Vergil remained motionless, observing Dante's movements. His demeanour was seemingly calm and indifferent, but a small smile was evident on his face as he watched his brother's impressive show.

“Is this your best?”

He asked in a somewhat teasing manner, he’s flirted with him countless times before and he knew he could do better than this, this was just downright cheese.

“Or are you just toying with me?” his voice still sounding monotone and expressionless.

"Oh?" Dante said as he moved upwards spinning as he held onto the staff "Would it be better if i started taking this old thing off?" he said referring to his leather jacket which covered most of his physique .

"You wanna see more Vergil?" he asked in a sultry tone.

Vergil's cold and uncaring facade quickly faltered, and he became noticeably more interested in Dante's show, raising a brow as a faint dust of pink ghosted across his cheeks. He knew that coat covered up Dante’s build and he wanted to see more.

“Yes.

He said the word softly and slowly. If he was being completely honest, he enjoyed this. The only one allowed to have this knowledge was Dante.

“Please... Continue.” Vergil nodded as he looked at Dante with more focus than before, even though he was trying to maintain his composure.

Dante felt a jolt of pleasure run down his spine as he saw the slight glimmer in Vergil's eyes he knew his brother couldn't resist. He proceeded to spin and wrap his legs and arms around the staff while he shimmied his jacket off, tossing it to the side.

"Yeah?..you want more?...heh i'll give you more.."

he smirked softly as he continued , he started to unbutton his undershirt leaving the first two buttons undone showing his collarbone. he sighed softly as he spun around once more feeling a bit dizzy.

Dante lost his balance and almost fell "Woah!" he exclaimed as he felt Vergil catching him.

Vergil held his brother safely and comfortably in his arms, making sure not to accidentally let him slip out of his hold as he helped him stand upright with a soft chuckle.

“You are still too inexperienced to perform such a manoeuvre Dante…your attempts at flirting while amusing, may be your downfall”

He said, but his tone was gentle and soft, with no trace of disapproval or anger, just teasing. His eyes were glued to Dante's collarbones, he remained in silence for a moment, he wanted to kiss him there..

"Yeah ..to be fair i never really got into pole dancing, i just wanted to show off..." Dante confessed blushing darkly , he saw the way Vergil looked at him and it excited him to his core. He licked his lips nervously and smirked.

Vergil caressed Dante's cheek, looking him right in the eye. Their foreheads were almost touching, and Vergil's cold and uncaring facade completely faded away as he stared right into Dante's eyes.

“Your tricks are not the only thing worth looking at~”

He said in a slightly flirty tone, still caressing his cheek and smiling softly. He could almost feel his cheeks getting heated.

"yeah?, is that right?" Dante asked with a confident smirk as he reached up to his shirt unbuttoning it further exposing his chest ever so slightly. his eyes met with Vergil's; they both seemed to enjoy the display he had made of himself earlier.

"Know...there's another way I can show off for you.." he said with a devious grin as he leaned into Vergil’s touch happily..

“There is?”

Vergil said, his eyebrows furling, as he took notice of Dante's chest. His face flushed red as he looked at the muscles that were now partially exposed because of the unbuttoning his shirt.

“I am listening..~” he said with a smirk. His voice was somewhat soft and gentle. It was obvious he wanted to see Dante's bare torso.

"You get yourself sat down... and I can do a little …Dance. Of sorts..." Dante said with a smirk as he gently pushed Vergil down onto the chair they had made earlier. his smirk not once faltering as he continued to unbutton his shirt while swaying his hips provocatively.

Vergil remained motionless as he sat down on the chair and allowed Dante to continue his little show. His heartbeat sped up as Dante unbuttoned his shirt, slowly getting closer to the point of exposing his chest. He was speechless.

“Dante…”

He whispered, his voice slightly raspy. He was breathless as he stared at Dante's body.

"Shhh just enjoy the show Vergil.." Dante purred as he put a finger to Vergil's lips, he continued to dance in a sultry way; his hands over his body grasping himself and his clothes as he finally took off his shirt. The last button now freeing his toned and chiselled abs as he flung the garment to the side, his hands now stroking down his abdomen before resting at his navel, his fingers fidgeting with his belt as he bucked and swayed his hips tantalisingly slowly.

The scene before Vergil was one of true beauty. Dante's breathtakingly gorgeous well-toned body was captivatingly perfect, the way he danced seductively and the way he caressed himself.. It felt like he was in paradise..Vergil felt his heartbeat speed up even more, and his breathing became slow and heavy. He couldn't take his eyes off of Dante, not for a second. He felt his desire for Dante intensify with each sway of his brother’s hips.

“Dante…”

Dante bit his lip hard suppressing any noises of pleasure, he took pride in testing his older brother like this leaving him there to watch. "...look but don't touch" he said with a purr as he fidgeted with his belt buckle painfully slowly as it clicked open the metallic sound making him gasp as he pulled his belt off in a swift moment making it crack in the air like a whip, he folded the belt so it resembled a riding crop as he smacked it off of his hand.

"If you touch..I'll have to punish you..for being such a Naughty little devil..."

Vergil felt the blood rush hot making its way down south. He felt himself getting excited by Dante's words and the way he danced, with his hands caressing himself and his belt smacking on his hand.

“Dante...Enough teasing please..”

He said softly, his voice still low and raspy. He slowly moved one of his hands towards Dante's thigh as he tried his best to control his impulse to touch him.

"ah ah ah...what did i just say?" Dante said with a playful smirk as he gently swatted Vergil's hand away;  he continued to move and sway seductively testing Vergil's limits he wanted to push him , he wanted to tease him to his breaking point, he was a bit of brat afterall.

"If you misbehave...I won't take my pants off..and that would end the fun..."

“Dante..~” Vergil chided sternly a bit of breathlessness to his voice , he was clearly worked up by Dante’s antics.

He looked at Dante again, his eyes darting all over his body. He was very close to breaking point now, just one slight push and he would take Dante with him...

“Please..~”

He said softly, his voice hoarse with desperation

“Please ..don't Tease me any further~”

Dante shivered softly as he sighed, blowing the air out from his puffed cheeks in a comical way "Damn Vergil...didn't think you had it in you, look at you...begging for your little brother.." he chuckled softly.

"Want me to keep going?" he asked, toying with the button on his jeans opening it before gripping the zipper of his jeans slowly unzipping.

Vergil bit his lip, trying to control himself as he nodded gently. “Please, Dante...~”

He mumbled in a low voice, his hoarse voice was a giveaway of his desperation...

“It's too hard for me to resist you~”

He said, his voice still raspy as he stared at Dante. He felt his own lips curling up into a small smile as he watched him toy with the button.

He wanted more.. Oh, he needed more..

Dante unzipped his jeans as he put his thumbs through the belt loops slowly sliding his pants off leaving him in his boxers, he licked his lips with anticipation . He knew he was exposed at this moment , serving himself up to Vergil so willingly.

He licked off his pants discarding them alongside the coat and shirt. He let his gloved hands reach down to touch and caress sensitive areas showing them off .

"Can't be that hard can it, cmon Vergil you can do it.."

Vergil was now fully erect, his eyes glued to Dante still, his body trembling as he tried so desperately to hold himself back. His heart was racing, and he felt his face start to feel hotter, as he moved his hand closer towards Dante's boxers.

“Dante..~”

He was completely lost to his lusts now, his mind overwhelmed by his desire for Dante's body. He was so incredibly close to giving into his desires and he desperately wanted his fantasies to come to fruition.

Dante tossed the belt to the side; he smirked seeing how aroused Vergil was; it made his own arousal ache with need as he finally gave in and sat down on his lap, feeling his hardness strained against the fabric of his boxers . "Mmmm, is this what you wanted? hmm?..you want this?~".

It was as if the whole world had slowed down to a crawl. Vergil’s eyes were filled with pure lust as he looked straight at Dante, all he wanted was..Him. His lustful thoughts were so overwhelming that he had almost lost what sense of reason he had left.

“Yes... Dante...~”

He whispered, a slight moan escaping his lips as he held Dante by his hips pulling him closer to him.

“I want this..~ I..”

He was a stuttering mess, unable to complete his sentences due to the overwhelming lust consuming him.

Dante shushed him with a kiss letting his tongue brush against Vergil's lips teasingly before feeling his brother accepting him their mouths pressed against one another in a lust filled frenzy. he moved his hips against Vergil's teasingly it seemed he wasn't finished with his little show..his dance of seduction..

Their tongues caressed each other in a dance of lustful abandon, and both men trembled in ecstasy. Their arms wrapped around each others' bodies, holding onto each other for dear life, as their hips moved in perfect harmony with one another, their mouths locked together in a passionate and furious kiss, their tongues wrestling for dominance.

Vergil moved his hips against Dante's own, both men moaning in bliss. Their movements were getting faster and their passions more intense with each passing moment. Their breaths grew heavier and more ragged. Virgil loved it…he loved everything about this moment and it was all thanks to Dante’s sweet seductive performance…

I haven’t checked to see if Mezzo’s current word count will put me into 7 figures, but if it doesn’t, it’s close.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Mass Effect. One trick pony right here.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Sonata – Sam and Kaidan fake dating.

Cantata – The Making of Commander Shepard, aka, a group of misfits find a home in each other. Also it’s an epically slow burn friends to idiots to soulmates.

Celestial Navigation – One of the rare times I wrote smut. The entire time I worked on it I was the equivalent of a hissing cat stuck in a tree.

Pieces Form the Whole – A collection of mshenko shorts, prompts, etc., featuring more or less a proto-Sam Shepard who isn’t Sam Shepard but eventually became him.

Fugue – Alchera and the 2 year gap. A story about finding hope in grief.  

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! Sometimes I go through a low spoons period where they sit for a bit, but I have a rule that I cannot post anything new until I have responded to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts on a thing I wrote. Community is the best part of fandom. Having others to yell and flail with about the fictional people in my head is fucking incredible.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

A short in Pieces Form the Whole called Faraway, So Close, which is the only Angst Without a Happy Ending thing I have ever written. It is the fic that kicks puppies. It is less than 1,000 words and I will never write anything like it again.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Not sure I have ever written about two happier people than Sam and Kaidan at the end of Sonata.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Nope. The occasional odd comment, but I haven’t gotten any hate, thankfully.

9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?

When a story calls for it, I write it, though I’m too ace to write much smut for the sake of smut. I don’t have anything against it; smut just doesn’t interest me much unless the conditions are right. Couldn’t tell you what the conditions are. I just know them when I see them.  

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Crossovers and AUs aren’t usually my thing, but I have to admit I have been mildly tempted to write a Mass Effect/Stargate AU, because I sure wouldn’t have to work hard to set it up, and Sam Carter and Sam Shepard breaking physics would be tons of fun.

Not that I am aware of.

Not translated, though I’ve had a couple of stories podficced, which is insanely cool!!!

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Once, and it taught me rather painfully that cowriting is not something I am cut out for.

Shepard and Kaidan, to the surprise of no one.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

It’s pretty rare I start something I don’t finish. My head explodes if I try to work on more than one project at a time, so if I get invested in something it generally gets finished. I have a story called Cadenza that isn’t currently doing anything – because I can’t work on 2 things at once – that I really want to finish; I just don’t know when I’ll get there. But I really hope I will.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue and combat are two things I have a very good time with.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I suck at setting. If reading that surprises you in any way, and hopefully it does, it is because I have worked very hard to suck less at it.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I have long envied the ability of others to write in other languages, and write dialect. I would love to be able to do it, but I suck at it. So add that to #17, lol.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Technically, it was The Black Stallion. I was probably eight. I sent The Black and Alec Ramsey to space.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Aww, don’t make me choose between my children. I love my stories. But gun to my head, long fic is probably Cantata. It was such a joy to write, and watching other people fall in love with OC characters I figured no one would care about was proof magic is real.

My favorite one shot is probably The Words That Change Us, an N7 day story that became the catalyst for all the Sam and Kaidan First Kiss AUs. Writing that story was an insane experience – I couldn’t write it fast enough. At one point I had two completely different conversations unspooling in my head at the same time. It’s so much fun to go back and read.

Virtualization is a technology that allows a computer to run multiple operating systems at the same time. This is done by creating virtual machines, which are software emulations of physical computers. Virtualization is enabled in the BIOS, which is the basic input/output system.

To check if virtualization is enabled in Windows 10 or Windows 11, you can follow these steps:

Open Command Prompt.

type systeminfo and hit enter.

scroll to the last at Hyper-V requirements :

and check virtualization enabled in firmware : Yes or No.

Another way is -

Open Task Manager.

Click on the "Performance" tab.

Under "CPU," look for the "Virtualization" section.

If the virtualization section says "Enabled,"

If virtualization is not enabled in your BIOS, you may not be able to run certain applications or games. You can enable virtualization in BIOS by following the instructions in your computer's manual. Using a phone is what's clunky. I can accomplish in seconds what takes forever in a phone! You can do multiple processes instead of flipping through tabs on a 2 inch screen. (Plus, then I'm not getting text-neck.) I can flip through multiple tabs in seconds, a single click, instead of pulling open my tiny web browser and opening all my tabs and then clicking. And then, apps aren't plumbing my phone for personal data, either.

And when you get into the work force? You'll be using a desktop. You'll need to know how to use a folder. How to find things quickly on your desktop. You'll need to know shortcuts to quickly accomplish tasks. Command prompts and bios settings and just...right clicking and hitting 'open file location' are all important! You can prefer slower touch screen phones (literally - moving your mouse and clicking is faster, I'm not being pedantic), and the inaccuracy of a touchpad screen that requires multiple attempts to get a word right... but you need to know how to use a PC to get a job... in America, at least. You need to know how to organize your desktop. You need to not just leave everything in the downloads folder, etc.

You also need to realize that 'the Cloud' isn't safe. Putting personal information on the internet isn't safe, and never has been. 'The Cloud' is just someone else's computer. It can be hacked, it can go down, etc - saving important things on a usb or external hard drive is incredibly important if you don't want them to just be gone, or inaccessible one day!

Ultimately, phones have less processing power, less good graphics, and smaller screens - they were intended to be a supplement... not a replacement for desktop PCs. Even laptops aren't as good as having a Desktop PC most of the time! The industry has also tricked people into thinking that building your own PC is hard, because it's cheaper for the consumer to buy parts and build a PC on their own... but it's not a challenge at all these days, especially with guides all over the internet.

With AI on the rise, and Gen Z being left behind/refusing to learn how to use a PC, I'm genuinely worried about their job market being overtaken by AI, since that won't need job training on how to navigate a desktop, or how to use MS Word/Excel. And can you imagine the rising pay for programming jobs, as a whole generation enters the workforce with no idea how to even navigate Windows 10/11... much less how to code? My partner does programming work and its stupid how little work it seems like he does for how much he gets paid, but... the older programmers are retiring, and very few are entering the workforce. So his skills are in high demand... and hilariously/sadly, there's times where a remote call is just him helping an end user navigate their cluttered desktop! Which is FAR from what his job entails.

Phones are objectively clunkier and slower to use - it just feels like a desktop is clunkier because no one taught you how to use it. As someone who has grown up using both kinds of technology at their worst and their best... believe me. Trying to accomplish the same task on my phone just 2 days ago, I gave up bc of how annoying it was, and just went to my computer because it was so much faster! Both things have their merits, but refusing to learn how to use a PC isn't a powermove. It's cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Prompt: No. 10: “Can’t you see that you’re lost without me?” Broken Phone | Stranded | “You said you'd never leave.”

Jun sort of felt like he was short circuiting, just a little bit. Mitsumi, a member of Team Galactic? Jun had always known that Mitsumi was a mysterious girl, in fact, that was part of why he liked her so much, but this… This was beyond anything he ever could have imagined. There was just no way!

His shock stuck him in place, even as Jupiter began to laugh at his horror. How could it be? How could it be that this girl, as tall and imposing and gorgeous as she was, would be a villain? How was it that she didn’t even try to defend herself, or even try and explain?!

“Mitsumi-” he tried, choking on his words as horror floated through his veins, “You’re not really,-”

“I’m sorry Jun,” Mitsumi said sadly, speaking more gently than he’d ever heard before, “But it’s true,”

Jun felt rooted in place, so frozen with horror he found himself. He knew he’d already thought it, but his mind was still a mess of disbelief at the idea. 

And that was his mistake.

In his shock, he had frozen in place, his hands twitching but nowhere near his Pokeballs. So, as Mitsumi turned her back on him and began to trudge away through the snow, Jupiter gave one last command to her Tangrowth.

“Bind him,” she said, almost casually, as she turned to follow Mitsumi, “He’s no use to the boss like this,”

Jun didn’t even have time to react before the horrible tendrils snapped into position, choking the air out of him as he screamed. “No!” he shrieked, “No! You don;t have to go with her, Mitsumi!” Mitsumi did not turn her head. She didn’t even pause. 

The Tangrowth growled a warning, but Jun only screamed again, maybe even louder this time, “Mitsumi! You can’t trust her!” 

Now the Tangrowth was truly angry, hissing an unidentifiable sound of rage as Jun felt tentacles wrapping around his throat, choking him and blocking any attempt at further communication he could have made. (Not that Mitsumi was listening anyway.) He choked, and saliva dripped pathetically from his mouth. 

The Tangrowth, satisfied, turned and began to squirm back towards its master, leaving writhing tentacles wrapped around Jun as he did his best to fight the lack of oxygen to his brain. His efforts, however, were futile, and his knees buckled as he fell into the snow.

It was so cold.

“Mitsumi…” he managed, far too weak for her to hear, “Mitsumi-”

And the sky went black.

When Jun opened his eyes again, he was still stuck. Still held fast by twitching vines that he knew would not weaken until he fought them off. That was just how the “wrap” attack from high level Pokemon worked, no matter how cruel it seemed in the moment.

The trick was getting out.

Jun began to thrash, fighting the ever tightening vines, awakened again to fight for dominance against him. Jun knew there was no one out there to hear him, but he screamed anyway.

It felt like he was trapped in a black plastic box, vision failing as tendrils covered his eyes, lungs heaving for breath they didn’t have room to take in, and limbs pushing against an unrelenting force that they knew that they could not beat. He was crying, and the cold of the snow only barely managed to overtake the hot burn of his tears.

Of every way that the vines decided to pull him, nothing hurt more than the knowledge of what Mitsumi had done. She had left him stranded, she had given up the fight, she was following the orders of the boss of Team Galactic.

And yet…

Even as he was yanked this way and that, his eyes covered and his chest cold, he could not find it in himself to hate her. Hot tears of shame dripped down his stinging face, freezing on his cheeks and sizzling as they made contact with the snow.

“Why,” he mumbled as his efforts failed again, allowing the vines to fall slack once more, “Why?”

His mind couldn’t process what was happening. All he knew was a deep sense of horror and the numb taste of betrayal on his tongue. He tried to work up the strength to fight, but only managed to cry even harder.

To him, this didn’t feel like the world he’d been living in mere hours ago. The mystery girl, the one he’d sworn he would figure out, had proved to be a much more gorey picture than he had first assumed. Breathtakingly beautiful, she had led to the breath quenchingly tight embrace the vines had on him. Her past, which Jun had once hoped to understand, had led to the agony that now spread through his bones.

His arms were slowly being twisted, one behind his back, one of his legs was folded at the knee and stuck there, and he was anchored into the snow by a strand around his waist. It was so cold on his skin that it was starting to feel a bit like fire, but there wasn’t anything he could hope to do about that until he broke free of the wrap.

But he couldn’t reach his Pokeballs, and he couldn't move one of his legs, so breaking out was proving to be more and more difficult with each passing moment.

And every short second lost was worth minutes in Sinoth, where the ground stayed cold and frozen all year round and more trainer deaths could be attributed to freezing than any other region. Jun coughed roughly, and a sneeze soon followed as gentle snowflakes began to float down from the sky above.

With renewed passion, he again began to thrash, knowing he had to get to cover before the light snow turned into a full blown blizzard. He was dressed very warmly, yet (thankfully including gloves), but he knew that he wouldn’t fare very well in snow storm conditions without his face wet with tears and his ears and nose uncovered.

He threw himself this way and that, snapping the vines that held him like the dead things that they were as his attempts grew exponentially more desperate. The vines continued to fight back, but he didn’t give them even a second to re-grow as he tore them away. And when he tore the last of the burrowing tendrils from his waist, you could say that he did it with relish.

But once it was all said and done, he couldn’t force himself to stand, only rolling onto his back as the falling snow stuck in his blond hair. Jun stared up at the weeping sky, and as he shivered in the air, it was all he could do not to wish that he would freeze.

Labored breaths accompany him as he lowers his arm after shooting, watching Denning take charge swiftly and decisively. They strike at the woman's silhouette with no mercy and hesitation, showing no fear for her fiery form, and knock her to the ground. The command is given - regroup - and he follows, tugging on the reins to prompt his mount to safety.

Soon after he does, a healing wave soothes his body, closing his wounds fully and refreshing him from the exhaustion. Their hands meet, so do their eyes; he can feel the warmth and support from her, and his first thought is to apologize again for the concern he had caused - but perhaps they should be past that, now.

Instead, he does his best to return her smile. "Thank you, Veyle. I'm alright. I'm here for you as well, alright? You can count on me."

Indeed, they are a team. He is not alone, and neither are they.

His body refreshed, he gets ready for another attack, before Professor Lukas approaches him on a mount of his own. Leonardo nods, hearing him out with the utmost attention, soaking up both the advice and the support he provides. The expression with which he nods is a smile full of determination. "Yes, sir. Thank you."

The supportive spell then comes over him. Anew - as though he was never tired to begin with, his energy comes back full force, and his grip on the bow tightens. He looks at the enemy - she has summoned a new aide to her side to support her - then back at Lukas, nodding one more time before spurring his mount forward.

He charges, drawing a semicircle around the scorching embers emanated by her power, drawing quickly two arrows just as he signals to stop. Then aims, and fires. One, then another.

General Device Maintenance for Windows

It is common for people to think they need a new laptop or desktop after a few years of use, and it is running slow. However, I’m going to show you a few tricks that I have perfected over the years to help a machine run in tip top shape. These are especially great to do after you have been uninstalling and reinstalling video games on them or just general use from office activity. These are, in my professional experience, the General Maintenance your company should be running on their Windows machines once a year, but probably is not…

-Work Machine-

Please note that for any commands I’m referencing to with quotes, you will not enter the quotes, it’s just the industry standard when specifying a string of data. We’ve all been there, on a work machine and it’s locked down on the permissions. Great news, you can run “gpupdate /force” (Group Policy Update) from Command Prompt. It’s pretty fast and either works or gives you an error that you can screenshot and send to your Service Desk, saving a ton of time. Fundamentally what it does is checks with your company’s server to make sure your computer follows the parameters of the domain. It’s typically the first thing your IT person will run and can be done with any account.

-Personal Machine-

If you haven’t already done it, you should uninstall any Bloatware. This is software that came on your computer when you got it, you don’t necessarily need or use it and it doesn’t seem to contribute to how your computer runs the way you are going to use it. Navigate to the “uninstall a program” area of your Control Panel and you will see the list, then just right click > uninstall (sometimes with stuff like Office there is a “Repair” option). If you see “Wave Browser” while in the control panel you will want to get rid of that at once and run a malware scan; actually, if you see any program you don’t recognize, Google it and/or the publisher to check that it’s legitimate or see what it does. (Note: modern browsers have Java built in, you no longer need it installed on your machine.) You may also have to do it from what we used to call the “Start” area and have no idea why they changed it, er the windows icon and “All Apps”.

-Light Clean-

Clearing your temp folders might seem like it’s not that important, but the closer your SSD drive gets to 50% the slower it performs. This is the random cache your computer stores during regular use of moving files, installing programs, error logs…etc. You’d be surprised at just how junked up they can get, I’ve seen them take up to 8GB worth of data.

From any account: Go to start > Run and type in “%temp%”. (The actual path is “C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp”)

With administrative rights, follow the same steps but instead type “temp”.(“C:\Windows\Temp”)

-Update Drivers-

If it’s not one thing, it’s the drivers. Easiest way you can check is to look for a caution mark on one of the listed items in the Device Manger; you might have to drop down the tree. These are the kernel code that binds your operating system and programs with the motherboard. You can set them to auto update, but sometimes the list doesn’t synchronize. Some laptops such as Lenovo have a program that you can download from their website or find in the Microsoft Store like “Lenovo Vantage” and it can be ran from a user account. If you want to look for them yourself the command is: “wmic bios get serialnumber”. The top two to look for and download if they have a newer version are the BIOS and Firmware/Chipset Management Engine.

Similar to Linux there are terminal commands that are native to the Windows environment that you can run to improve your system. To run these, go to start > Command Prompt > right click > run as administrator:

#1 System File Checker = "sfc /scannow"

This one will take roughly 10 minutes but it’s safe to use the machine while it runs; however, I wouldn’t install anything while it goes. It basically goes through your filesystem and makes sure everything lines up the way it should be, the right system files point to the correct location and there’s no junk files that shouldn’t be there linking to something else. This is just layman’s term, and feel free to look into it more but I assure you it’s perfectly fine to run even if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Please note that you will not be able to use the machine until it’s finished running and it can take up to an hour. This checks your hard drive for any irregularities and makes sure nothing is corrupt or damaged. There are several ways to run this, however this is the one I find most useful as it runs it at a very low level right after bios when it is loading the kernel (code that makes hardware talk to software).

This one will take a while, like up to 2 hours, and I wouldn’t plan on using it, so it goes faster. Do you use Butler for uploading to itch.io? Is it helpful? I imagine it would take eons for a game like Wayfarer to upload wanted to know if you have any tricks for doing that efficiently or minimizing your game's file size

Butler isn't necessary for what I'm doing. I've never used it, so I can't comment on whether it's helpful or not!

My upload process is very simple and looks like this:

Delete any outdated story files from my compile folder and replace them with the updated ones (published to HTML from the Twine editor).

Compile the story files into a single HTML file using Tweego. I already have the code I need for compiling saved to my desktop, so I just need to copy/paste it into the command prompt and run it. Takes about 3 seconds for it to make the compiled file.

Pop the compiled HTML file into my game folder (one level above my image assets and font folders) and rename it to index.html

ZIP everything together and export to my Desktop. Since I have two ongoing files (one for the public build and one for the alpha), I rename the ZIP file to "game public" or "game alpha", depending on which one I'm working with.

Upload the ZIP file to itch.io, replacing the current one.

Rename the uploaded file name to reflect the game's updated version. If it's my first time uploading a game, HTML needs to be selected from the "Kind of Project" dropdown menu. The embed options also need to be set to "click to launch in fullscreen", "mobile friendly" (with portrait mode selected), and scrollbars enabled.

It doesn't take more than about 10 seconds for the ZIP file to upload onto itch. Wayfarer may be big in word and passage count, but it is relatively small. The current alpha build altogether (index.html, custom fonts, custom icons, and images included) is only 94MB and most of that is images. The game itself (just the index.html file) is 7MB. HTML games on itch.io have a limit of 1GB and I doubt I'll exceed that (devs can request more space if they need it).

In terms of minimizing your game's size, make sure you're sourcing your game's assets with relative paths that direct to a subfolder in your upload. Embedding images directly into your Twine game isn't necessary and it will substantially bloat your game's size.

You could technically source images from an outside hosting website (like imgur) so they aren't part of your upload. However, outsourcing to another site comes with its own problems and is generally not recommended (see this post for more about images and Twine).
