drabblecember day 1 - cold weather

“It's cold out, isn’t it?” Mettaton said with a dramatic sigh, scoffing slightly. He rubbed his hands over his arms, his teeth chattering. Oliver rolled her eyes, it was not as if he could truly even feel the sensation of heat, or lack thereof. 

“Yes… it feels quite cold out, you must be freezing, darling. Come here…” he continued, his voice soft. 

He opened up his arms, bringing Oliver close into a warm and tender embrace. She loathed the verbiage surrounding it, yet she could not argue that his body was perfect to snuggle with on a cold winter’s day.

Timing - Carmen x Chase

Summary: Devineaux thinks back to before they started dating. He'd tried to arrest Carmen, and she'd told him it wasn't a good time. Coming over to her house all dressed up with a bouquet, he wonders if he's come at the right time now.

"Is now a good time, Carmen Sandiego...?"

Carmen had opened the door to find Inspector Chase Devineaux smiling at her, holding a bouquet of red roses. He was all dressed up in a tuxedo, clean shaven with his hair slicked back. Behind him was his new ride, a shiny black car, undoubtedly from ACME. The Inspector looked spent from his recent adventure, yet there was happiness in his eyes.

Holding out his hand, he offered to take her on their date.

Carmen was dressed in her red and gold dress. She took his hand, smiling.

"Yeah. Now's a good time."

Victory - Gunner x Countess Cleo

Summary: Carmen Sandiego has finally been caught. VILE celebrates with a dress show.

"Now, this dress show is divine!" Cleo said, impressed. "But you really shouldn't have! It's so..."

"Elaborate...? Beautiful...?" Gunner guessed with a sly grin. He took Cleo's hand and kissed it. "Anything for you, my darling~!"

She chuckled.

"You absolute villain! You knew I'd love this."

"Indeed..." He stood up straight, looking down at Carmen who was brainwashed and forced to serve them drinks. "You there. Cleo needs more champagne. Chop-chop!"

Carmen left to do just that.

"My, my." Cleo said. "All this time hunting her and we finally did it."

"Yes, my dear. I couldn't be prouder of us."

Summary: Perhaps Chief had been wrong about him. And perhaps she'd underestimated him too.

She hadn't smiled in a long time. That had changed when she was assigned to be Chase Devineaux's partner.

The man had been known for being a little wild, which was why the agency had doubted him. He was also brash, egotistical, and with a one-track mind that wasn't so good for cars. Chief had said he'd been difficult to work with.

Well, however he'd been in the past, Devineaux seemed like a changed man. Right now, he was intelligent, charismatic, and gentlemanly.

And even as he ran down the streets of Venice, she knew she'd like her new partner.

"Have you forgotten what she's done...?!"

"Complimented me on my handsomeness?"

She grabbed his hand, squeezing it tight.

"No... She hurt you."

"Hey, what is this...?" Chase held Grey's lightning rod in his hand. Curiously he placed his finger on the tip. Electricity coursed through his body and he screeched, stiffening, and falling to the floor.

"Yeah, uh. Maybe don't touch that." Grey grabbed the rod and tucked it into its holder. He reached out a hand.

Chase looked worried.

"You are still sure you want me on your team?"

Grey nodded.

"Of course! You're the best at finding her."

Forgiveness - Chase + Julia

Summary: After realizing she was right all along, Chase tracks down Julia to apologize.

She was typing at her desk when suddenly the door was kicked open.

"Ah! Inspector Devineaux?"

"Yes, Julia!" He said dramatically. "I have come to apologize for the way I treated you. I was a cruel and bitter man..."

She stood up and came over to him. He continued.

"I hated myself and I was simply too stubborn to realize the truth! You were right all along, Julia. Carmen is innocent."

"Inspector, I..."

He offered her a large gift basket that he'd wrapped himself.

"I know this is not enough, but I hope you can accept this as my apology."

Summary: Tigress finds Grey trying to interfere in her plans. Well, we can't have that, can we?

"I knew you came here to find me," Tigress said, holding Grey close to her. He stuttered, looking around.

"I know what you want. But I'm not making it easy for you." Looking up to where the fake Ming Vase hid the code to the safe, she knew she had to go about this correctly.

Grey tried to read her emotions, but she put a wall up. Then she suddenly wrapped herself around him like a particularly cuddly cat.

"Mm... I did miss you, though."

And against his better judgment, Grey wrapped his arms around her.

Rescue - Carmen x Chase

Summary: Inspector Devineaux incidentally rescues Carmen.

Looking outside his window, Devineaux found Carmen was hanging off the side of a building. There was a bad guy holding a bag of cash and pointing a gun at her.

Chase ran over, pulling out his own gun and pointing it at the villain.

"You there! Surrender!"

Fearing arrest, the villain ran for it. Seeing Carmen about to fall, Chase stayed with her and held out his arms.

Having no other choice, Carmen let go and fell into his arms.

He set her down gently. She stayed there for a moment, gazing into his eyes.

They were dark grey.

He looked at it for a while and then held it tightly to his chest. He hung it up on his wall.

"Carmen, you're so sweet!" He said through the communicator. "What's this all about?"

She simply smiled.

"You're my best friends."

Summary: Devineaux meets someone who looks and dresses like Carmen. This woman is exactly the type of person he pictured in his head when imagining criminal mastermind Carmen Sandiego.

The woman gave a low chuckle.

Chase's eyes widened as he realized she wasn't kidding. Panicking, a slew of French came out.

"Mm. You're cute." She smiled slyly. "I hope they save you so we can do this again, Devineaux..."

Tipping her hat, she gracefully ran off into the night.

Father of the Bride - Platonic Carmen + Shadow-san

Summary: As Shadow-san is asked to walk Carmen down the aisle, he tries not to get emotional.

"You are sure you want me to do this...?" Shadow-san said, hoping he could stay strong for her. Carmen nodded.

"You're like my father, right? And fathers walk their daughters down the aisle."

And then there was a hug. Not a soft, hesitant hug, but a big bear hug. Shadow-san's eyes fought to hold back the tears.

"I always saw you as my daughter, Carmen. I never imagined you would feel the same way."

At the wedding he would hold her hand and walk down the aisle with her. Seeing Carmen's soon-to-be spouse, he smiled and nodded, giving his blessing.

Evelyn shuddered. Chained to the wall, she was trapped between the cold stone and Bellatrix’s body.

‘Oh, pet, but I would.’ Bellatrix grinned madly, a woman long since severed from her sanity.

Maybe Evelyn shouldn’t have disposed of Rodolphus. She assumed Bellatrix wanted it. Assumed he was in the way of them being together.
