Nazis or neo-Nazis are not a 21st century phenomenon in the U.S. This man, Frank Moffer, was a captain in the "Khaki Shirts" of Art J. Smith. Smith promoted himself as a dashing figure who flew bomber planes for Pancho Villa and served as Kerensky's aide in Russia. Until he embraced fascism, newspapers swallowed his stories whole and found him a colorful, harmless figure.

Smith registered the Khaki Shirts as a corporation and charged for membership, clothing, and expenses--the more they paid, the higher their rank in his army. He claimed to have 2,000 members in the tri-state area and an artillery of weapons of war. (This was probably as truthful as his claims of an adventurous past.)

In July, 1933, Smith staged a rally in Astoria that was infiltrated by supporters of Carlo Tresca, an anti-fascist leader (see this post). One of them was shot dead, and the Khakis tried to pin the murder on Athos Terzani, a colleague of the dead man. Bizarrely, the police arrested him. His trial became a leftist cause celebre, with Tresca and Norman Thomas organizing Terzani's defense.

The prosecution's case crumbled when Smith changed his story and another witness recanted his earlier testimony. Terzani was acquitted and Smith's bodyguard, Moffer (pictured above in court on February 13, 1934), confessed to the shooting. Smith was convicted of perjury and faded into obscurity.

Weirdly, they WILL win one at the Awards on 13 February 2011, for their stereo box sex*, while Paul McCartney will win Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for his live 'Helter Skelter' on Good Evening New York, which just goes to show how perseverance pays off and you should follow your dreams.

*Yes this is a typo. No they did not release a stereo box sex. I guess you know now which word my phone is more uses to me using.

I walk a path I haven't walked for over a year. It's not even 200 metres to the vet where I used to visit at least 20 times a year but haven't paid a single dime. I've taken this route carrying boxes full of kittens, must have been 50 in total at least. I've run this path once, a dying kitten pressed against my heart, knowing all they could do for her was to let her go peacefully. Now I walk it to get the necessary meds for my housemates' cat.

The receptionist knows me. Once I was part of the furniture here. They've helped me out countless times. They haven't seen me in a while, they say, not fostering anymore?

I want to, I do. I miss my kittens.

Yet another thing my mental health is taking away from me.

Trust Registration

Trust registration involves drafting a trust deed outlining the objectives and rules of the trust and obtaining a unique trust name. Necessary documentation such as identity proofs is prepared. The trust deed is then signed by trustees and submitted along with required paperwork to the local registrar or sub-registrar office for registration enabling the trust to operate officially within the jurisdiction.

Ringo's night out in Miami is ruined by people dancing to music.

I had another disastrous evening in Miami. We went out to see The Coasters, who were heroes with Yakety Yak. People were dancing to them in the club, and I just couldn’t understand it. These were rock ‘n’ roll gods to me, and people were dancing! I was just so disgusted. But The Coasters were great, and it was a thrill to see American artists. We’d never seen them before like this, in America.
