Even in the darkest time our people find a way to express their love, care and courage to each other. And our people like that Ukrainian descent man in France keep supporting and reminding of us everywhere. We see you. Respect you. Please keep spreading our voices and donate to our army (savelife.in.ua, prytulafoundation.org, Serhii Sternenko and ptahy.vidchui.org).

The doctors continued to work for weeks despite the fact that they lacked medicines, water and electricity.
Tumblr media
Residents of the city had no food, water or electricity, and cooked on fires in the street.
This wasn't shown in the film, but people in Mariupol could eat animals, such as pigeons, because of the lack of food, and also shared 1 glass of water among a large number of people because there was no other water.

No one called on russia and no one wants to be with russia.

Guess what? It appears that '20 days in Mariupol' winning Best Documentary was cut out from the international recordings that was send out to broadcasters. Ukrainian broadcaster noticed this and immediately filled a complaint about it, because isn't it funny that last year when fucking N.avalny won Best Documentary that nomination was included in the international recording.
Don't you just love the hypocrisy and double standards here? Don't you just love all these attempts to amplify r.ussian voices and make Ukrainians shut the fuck up about the genocide we're going through, caused by r.ussians. Don't you just want to go apeshit?

March 16 marks the anniversary of one of the largest terrorist attacks carried out by Russians in Ukraine. On this day, the occupiers dropped two powerful bombs on the building of the Mariupol Drama Theater, where about a thousand people were hiding.
Immediately after the attack, the Mariupol City Council reported about 300 civilians killed. Later, The Associated Press in its investigation put the number at 600.
But untill now, the exact number of victims of this terrorist attack is still unknown.

All evidence was destroyed by Russian monsters after the occupation of the city, but we will not forget.
"The world must remember everything that Russia has done against Ukraine and Ukrainians, and every Russian murderer must be held accountable for what they have done. We will ensure that they are held accountable," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Don't forget about Ukraine
The world, don't forget that in Ukraine it's even more cities like Mariupol have been mercilessly wiped off by Russia. Extremely horrific war crimes keep registering. Death toll can't be calculated now. We urgently need your support. Please keep spreading our voices and donate to our army and combat medics (savelife.in.ua, prytulafoundation.org, Serhii Sternenko, hospitallers.life, ptahy.vidchui.org and u24.gov.ua).

When “20 Days in Mariupol” took home the Academy Award for outstanding documentary feature, director Mstyslav Chernov used his acceptance speech to make a powerful statement in support of Ukraine. “This is the first Oscar in Ukrainian history. And I’m honored,” Chernov said. “But probably I will be the first director on this stage who will say I wish I had never made this film..."

Today is an important and dark date for any ukrainian. 10 years this day first russian armed forces units crossed the ukrainian border at the Kerch Bridge and the annexation of Crimea started.
In 4 days there would be another anniversary - 2 years since full-scale war with russia. I haven't posted a lot about war and in general here. Tumblr just doesn't feels right, I rarely go here to watch couple of aesthetic posts, but it does not make any sense now. And yet 10 years of war passed today. And I still see so much uneducated takes on this conflict. People around the world, left-leaning and radical left around the globe still think of this as a local proxy war of "american imperialism" and "russian anti-imperialism". You are right about america agenda, you may say the have geopolitical interests in this conflict and not just pure intentions or altruism. Thats not debatable. I would debate that so mane people don't even realise the level of atrocities committed by russians. Many still believe that images of Bucha are staged. Many still believe ukrainian forces destroyed Donbas in the last ten years. What a farce to read those takes for us, people of ukraine, for me personally, as I spent my first three days of russian invasion in the city of Kyiv, in my home (Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel are the suburbs of Kyiv).
This year ukrainian filmmakers compiled two important documentary films about those atrcities, committed by russians. One of them just earned two prizes on Berlin International Film Festival. And will run for Best Documentary nomination at this years Oscars.
Oscars mean nothing of course, its not a merit of truth. The merrit of truth are those films themselves. The documentary material they present. Award run is just an opportunity for more people outside of Ukraine to see those films. And I beg you to see it. I will tell about them in the next post. Its damn time for world to see this, for those blinded by russian propaganda especially. Photo by Evgeniy Maloletka. From the exhumation of mass graves in Kharkiv region. Dozens of civilian ukrainians killed by russian forces in 2022.

A few months ago, I found the courage to watch the most important documentary ever: 20 Days in Mariupol. I thought I would be torn to pieces and cry. But it was worse. I was enveloped in emptiness. This led me to some difficult conclusions. I couldn't even express my emotions because it's hard to imagine a human reaction that could adequately respond to this horror. It's all just hard to believe. It all looks too grotesque, too cynical, too... horribly unbelievable. And I realized one of the reasons why so many people around the world do not believe in the atrocities that the Russians are committing in Ukraine. Because it's tough to believe. For a long time, even Ukrainians could not believe that Russians were that evil. This is a terrible joke. Ukrainians don't need to invent stories about scary Russians or make propaganda. In reality, everything is much scarier, and not every human imagination can imagine what Russians are capable of. Since the full-scale invasion, I have been writing about the crimes of the Russians. During this time, my emotions have been chafing against the stone of Russian atrocities. And I realize that many people will not believe me. And unfortunately, the problem is not only the powerful Russian propaganda. As I noted above, human consciousness refuses to accept that such massive crimes can occur in the real world. And only a part of the world, not the whole world, is trying to stop Russians. It is a terrible irony that while I was writing this painful thread, the Russians killed children in Kharkiv. Russia is a terrorist state. All Russians are guilty.
