My friend Ahmed and his wife Maram's fundraiser to escape Gaza with their three little children has started to stagnate, with only 4 donations in the past 2 DAYS. This is unacceptable for them, as they need to reach their goal as soon as possible to secure their funds before something prevents them from it -- in a situation such as this, anything could happen, from bank closure to GoFundMe shutting down their campaign without warning. Fuck it, I’m giving numbers to my ask.

Out of the current 491 fics tagged with Trans Grian, the highest rating is Explicit with 201 with Teens at 122 works.

When we add additional tags, there’s 54 fics with bottom!Grian and only 6 for top!grian. Interesting… (note: I don’t use the explicit rating here either due to mistagging the rating to be mature or not rating, this is just trans!grian plus one additional tag)

This is not covering sub and dom or powerbottom/service top. This doesn’t cover fics that don’t tag character with bottom or top but it’s obvious in the fics.

It should be noted that this does have sub tags for both trans male and trans female tag, but I wanted to get an overall look at trans Grian. I can tell you that the 5 works with trans female Grian barely makes a dent.

Over all, having most of the trans Grian fics having him tagged to also be a bottom is concerning. While it’s clear to me that trans writers are writing their experiences or fantasies, there’s something strange here too.

Now let’s compare this to his top slash pairing half, aka Goodtimeswithscar.

Trans!Scar only has 132 works with the highest rating being Explicit with 59 works and then Gen with 29. With how small of a number I’m working here with, I should note that Trans female!Scar has 16 works with 7 being Explicit, sharing that same number with Gen.

Bottom!Scar with trans!scar has 12 fics while top!scar with trans!scar has 3 fics.

So not only does Trans!Grian with only the explicit rating beat trans!scar overall, the addition of bottom and top tags has Grian with more fics than Scar (note; theoretically some of these fics can have the same tags because switches exist)

Now I ask you this, why is it like this? My best guess is people projecting their experiences onto these characters, both trans masc people and dare I say, maybe even woman (cis or trans is not clear)

'Evenin', everyone...Mr. Baggins back with you, with a set to soothe your achin' nerves and help ease us all into a good night. We start this evening off with Lenny and the NY in their classic 1967 complete recording of Borodin's "Polovstian Dances" from Prince Igor, the ballet music from Gounod's "Faust", Dance of the Hours from Ponchieli's "La Giocanda", the Dance of the Tumblers (!) from Rimsky Korsakov's "The Snow Maiden", the Bachanalle from Saint-Saens' "Samson et Dalila", the dances from Verdi's "Aida", and finallyj, the waltz from Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin".

I thought it might be interesting to hear the VERY FIRST recording of Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue", with Gershwin at the piano, recorded in Aeolian Hall, June 10, 2024: This is a 100-year-old recording! You will notice right off that the delivery is MUCH DIFFERENT, much much JAZZIER than the way it is played today! There was much more of a yawning/laughing/growling "HOT JAZZ" kind of phrasing to the horn lines and to everything else that is just not there in modern performances, which attempt a very "European Classical" feel...it's really quite eye-opening!

Since we're back here in the 1920s, let's take in Sir Edward Elgar's first recording of his "Enigma Variations", recorded in Royal Albert Hall, with Elgar himself conducting, in April and August 1926.

Next we turn to the music of a teen-aged Chopin, his Variations in B-flat on "Là ci darem la mano" from Mozart's "Don Giovanni" for piano and orchestra, Op. 2. The London Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Eliahu Inbal, and our pianist is the great Claudio Arrau.

Here's another little treat from the world of opera, we hear Bruno Walter conducting The Columbia Symphony Orchestra in a studio recording made in Hollywood in 1961, in several Mozart opera overtures. We hear the overtures to Der Schauspieldirektor K.486, Così fan tutte K.588, Le nozze di Figaro K.492, and Die Zauberflöte K.620. Sit back and listen to A Master conduct Mozart!

Next we hear the Paris Wind Ensemble in music of Haydn, his Divertimento in B-flat for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn and Bassoon. Taken from a rare 1958 recording released on Epic, which we know as more of a pop/rock/soul label.

Staying with Haydn for moment, we hear another historic recording, this one by The London Baroque Ensemble, directed by conductor Karl Haas, in this 1954 recording of Haydn's Scherzando in F major. This is another "classical" recording made on a mostly pop label, this time Westminster.

We're going back to 1926-38 for this next little while, as we hear legendary violinist Fritz Kreisler playing his favorite encore pieces, with pianists Carl Lamson and Franz Rupp. Fritz Kreisler is another performer whose style of playing is no longer considered "fashionable" or "correct". I love his tone, myself...it's like honey!

And we wind up this evening's program with the delightful Wind Sextet, Op. 201 of Carl Reinecke, written in 1904. It is performed for us here by Soni Ventorum Wind Quintet, recorded live, 16 February 1980, Meany Theatre.

i feel like posts like these are based off of a sense of well-meaning anger but miss the point in a particularly radical feminist way and make people up just to be mad at them. Anyone [in a honest discussion setting, a non-tumblr discussion, academic settings primarily!] saying men are lonely is personally diagnosing a problem with patriarchy, not saying women don't experience it too. it's just pointing out the way that patriarchy has inner workings that differentiate, reward and punish even within the privileged class of men. Male privilege is intersectional and thus very circumstancial. I'm not saying OP is wrong, but there's a wayyy more nuanced take to be had if we understand that 1) the fact that we have so much reading on masculinities that Highlights the need for a new approach to masculinity that doesn't both drive men to and excuse men's violence, and 2) male privilege is tied to 'doing' gender correctly as well as the legal, optical, social, medical, etc, status of manhood (thank you Butler) so it's not like being cis magically makes anyone violent, smth smth Bourdieu's habitus theory applied to a masculine habitus that includes violence
