TaiShiro moment I wanted to analyse lol

This small analysis was also in my post about Taishiro moments in the Sub that I recently posted. You can find it here.

While in the original Tai was just ‘Tai’, this time his full name is Taichi, and Tai is just a nickname. His last name though has still been changed to Kamiya instead of Yagami.

Koushiro actually does keep his Japanese name in the English dub! But this time ‘Izzy’ is also just a nickname. Of course, he retains his last name ‘Izumi’ like he did in the original English dub.

ANYWAY ANYWAY

one of my favourite bits from episode 1, is when Koushiro is showing Taichi his timeline, and Taichi goes something like:

“Well..I’m really bad at that stuff. You’re awesome, Koushiro!”

And Kou seems surprised and caught off guard by the complement, before quickly turning his attention back to his tablet in embarrassment and saying:

“Y-You can just call me Izzy—!”

And we know later in the dub, that Koushiro prefers being alone, which also suggests he doesn’t have many friends, or doesn’t go out of his way to make any. He doesn’t really like being around people. So we can guess that before Taichi, the only people that call him Izzy are his parents.

So Koushiro giving Taichi express permission to call him Izzy, especially for Koushiro, is something special and significant, even if Taichi doesn’t know this.

This A.M.V. was pretty much made on a complete whim after I heard this thanks to a Japanese Taishiro/TaiKou fan on Twitter recommending another by this group as "DEFINITELY a TaiKou song" and let's just say Yes I see a Theme & Patterns going {with this group's songs+lyrics!} and I am Spilling Koushiro Thoughts Via Analysis by A.M.V. As a result it IS in actuality semi canon compliant to a very strong degree, but please keep in mind the intended pairing is mainly KouTai (though I ship various other Koushiro ships too!)

Taikouvember 2023 - Prompt Guideline

If you read about Taikouvember and are excited for the event, but don’t know how to interpret the prompts, let us give you a little bit of input about what was on our minds when we brainstormed them. Maybe it will give you some inspiration!

Any kind of medium is a allowed: Fanfiction, drabbles, poems, fanart & doodles, picture & gif sets, AMVs, meta analysis, rambles/rants... You name it!

Disclaimer: It is all up to you and you don’t have to follow any of the following ideas!

Day 1, November 6th: The Multiverse: Canon vs. AU:

Stories about different timelines and universes are very popular these days - and for good reason, Digimon is pretty open for the possibility of several timelines existing. When it comes to Taikou, what is your favourite "version" of them? Do you prefer to focus on them in their original anime timeline (Adventure, 02, Tri, Kizuna, The Beginning) or do you like to explore their dynamics in the 2020 reboot? Do you rather focus on other kinds of Digimon media, such as the novels, the manhua or the games? Or do you have your own “alternate universes” you like to focus on when it comes to the two of them? Inspired by other anime, manga, fairy tales, comics, cartoons, movies, TV show, superhero stories, tropes - the possibilities here are endless!

So feel free to show off which universes, versions, dynamics you enjoy the most. Do they intertwine? Does that mean these two may always find each other, regardless of the timeline?

Day 2, November 7th: Past & Future:

When it comes to all the Digimon Adventure mediums mentioned above, we can tell that Taichi and Koushiro already share quite a history with each other. So this prompt can be the perfect opportunity for you to share what your favourite moments between Taichi and Koushiro are, that may have influenced their relationship? Whether it’s by redrawing scenes, creating AMVs or picture and gifsets, writing fanfiction or interpreting their most vital moments... Again, that is completely up to you!

But if you don’t like to look back and would rather look forward instead - how do you imagine they will interact in the future, how will their bond develop? What happens between The Beginning and the Epilogue, what are the unknown puzzle pieces, milestones you would like to see? Career wise and in regards to the Digital World, domestically, romantically...

Day 3, November 8th: Habits & Change:

When it comes to your favourite characters and ships, there are usually reasons as to why you feel drawn to them. So what are typical characteristics (one might even want to say: stereotypes & tropes) you associate with Taichi and Koushiro? What are things they have always done, things they are familiar with about each other, things they have adjusted to, habits they adore about each other (or are even annoyed by)? Feel free to depict how you see them playing off of each other, how they complement each other or where and why they might clash.

Again, if reminiscing in the past is not for you, you may want to focus on what we haven’t actually seen yet: How can you imagine them to change? Where could they adjust to and for each other even more in order to make their bond work? Could it change for the better - or even for the worse?

Day 4, November 9th: Trauma & Healing:

Sad and traumatic experiences have always been part of Digimon and will always define how and why the characters act and behave the way they do in certain situations. Taichi and Koushiro aren’t an exception in that regard; between existential crisis and near death situations, they have seen a lot. So what are the things that (still) haunt them, that may put a strain on their relationship? What are certain memories and experiences they might not be able to let go of, still unable to open up towards each other? Whether it’s attachment issues, fear of loss, abandonment or inadequacy, miscommunication or (emotional) distance, self-sacrificing tendencies...

However, let us not only focus on the negative parts - because our bonds may also be able to help us. So what are ways they can help each other to actually heal, getting better and more open or even learn to live with their trauma? How can they overcome their barriers and actually be honest with each other about their deepest fears?

Day 5, November 10th: Visible & Invisible Signs of Affection:

People have different ways of interacting with different people - and depending on the type of relationship, the type of person, there are often very specific ways to show (and receive) affection. What are, in your opinion, the smaller and bigger gestures these two like to offer in order to show their love languages to one another?

How do they show their adoration, admiration and appreciation - physically, verbally, through their actions, knowing glances or endless patience...? Do they have any kinds of “inside jokes”, communication patterns, certain touches and words, habits, quirks and rituals they react to in specific ways?

Day 6, November 11th: Brave Knowledge & Curious Courage:

Thanks to them being the way they are, they are natural plot drivers - the adventurous protagonist and his knowledgable right hand. Thinking about it more closely, they share more of each other’s central attributes than one may anticipate at first glance. So - how do they mirror each other and their trademark traits in certain situations?

What are Koushiro's moments of hands on activity, how does he take the vital first steps forward, how does he overcome his struggles to do what matters to him? What are Taichi's brightest strategies, his most thoughtful moments, his smartest speeches or interests he wants to put his own research skills to the test to?

I have a lot of Thoughts on how Koushiro feels towards Taichi, Actually {And also in reverse, though this is mainly Koushiro’s Point-of-View.} (This part will have just a bit of Taichi perspective too, though.)

I also have a lot of Thoughts on Adventure{s} wider LORE on a grander scale, but also as it relates to Koushiro’s whole canon.

I’ll probably go back and smooth this out later, but for now it’s doing what I want it to do, and hopefully you can follow along by reading the dialogue below: (Note: Contains starting spoilers for the originating series, Chobits, though the context in this part is quite vague, and happens quite early in series.)

Digimon Adventure 2020, episode 20 reaction (and over-analysis)

This week, Takeru says “Onii-chan” 8 times and Yamato says “Takeru” 23 times. Also, the best episode in the series so far.

Let’s start with the small scene with Sora and Koushiro. When we see Koushiro, he’s trying to contact Taichi again, which shows how close he’s gotten to the other boy. He’s not looking for their partner digimon as he had promised he would, though. Maybe he’s unsure about his ability to do so without Taichi’s constant reassurance? He did only say he would after Taichi told him he trusted in his abilities. Anyway, Sora soon appears, carrying two drinks for herself and Koushiro. She’s also the one Mimi and Jou contact to tell her they’ll be late. Not surprising, since Sora quickly developed a bond with every member of the group except Koushiro, while Koushiro only really developed one with Taichi.

Then Sora brings up her mother’s reaction, and the contrast between the two deepens even further. For while Sora can freely speak about how her mother reacted when she came back home (reasonably for an adult, though it’s still weird that she’d let Sora leave the house the very next day), Koushiro can only really talk generally about the situation (”oh, it’s a normal reaction”) but is deeply uncomfortable about his own family situation. Generally speaking this short scene deepened what we already knew about both of them and introduced new possibilities for Koushiro.

And then the Digimon contact them, and we are introduced to what’ll most likely be their role in the following episodes. Calamaramon is leading a group of Algomon in eating data from the human world, which none of the characters know yet but can feel the effects, be it because of the problems in the connections after the black-out, or because everything is in chaos in the world of the internet.

There you have it, 3 paragraphs on the shortest scene in the episode. Can you tell it was great?

Anyway, back to the main plot, the episode starts with some further shots of Takeru in the tank, and he looks deeply unhealthy due to the lighting, the shadows making him seem as if he was famished. The reunion is interrupted by the Corrupted Beast Spirit of Darkness, Velgrmon, who Leomon recognizes even before seeing due to feeling his attack. Velgrmon steals Takeru and utterly destroys Valvemon, which Leomon and the others barely escape. The group tries to follow their new enemy when a Megadramon appears. It’s interesting that it seems to consider Leomon a more important target than the 2 Children, since when the lion digimon tried to lure it away from them, it looks at the kids for half a second before following.

Taichi and Yamato follow Velgrmon, and WereGarurumon proves himself as the (second) MVP in the episode. Be it figuring out how to catch up to Velgrmon, shielding Yamato from the feather attacks, catching the brothers after they fall or reminding them all after rescuing Takeru that they must still defeat Velgrmon, he always knows what must be done and doesn’t hesitate for a second to do it. The only exception to this is when he offer Yamato help in getting Takeru out of the miasma sphere and the boy refuses. It makes me wonder if there’ll be some sort of conflict between the two later.

As far as the brothers go, Yamato has never, ever, looked cooler than here. Running alongside MetalGreymon’s metal claw, resisting the obvious pain from the miasma sphere to rescue his brother, immediately trying to shield him from the fall once Velgrmon attacks. There’s no place for nuance in their situation during this episode, but it completely succeeds in portraying him as desperate and afraid, a great climax to his character so far, the cold and logical boy who is doing this all to prevent the possibility of his brother getting hurt, suddenly confronted with something beyond his worst nightmares. As for Takeru... he’s mostly there for Yamato’s characterization rather than his own, which is uniformly “sad little boy” at all points of the episode except for one. Which one? The moment he turns to face Velgrmon after being abducted for a second time, and instead of fear (which he’s still clearly feeling) he’s overcome by anger. Doesn’t make this a good introduction to his character (I hope we get that next week), nor does it make up for every single one of his lines before that being just “Onii-chan”, but at least it’s something.

Then there’s, of course, Angemon’s appearence, and it’s great. Not because of some tragedy from Takeru losing his partner, no, we don’t know either of them nearly enough for that. It’s great because the entire series has built up the Holy Digimon as massively important allies that they must rescue, and Angemon here completely justifies all of those efforts. He exudes power, more so than any other digimon so far except perhaps Omegamon, but he’s also warm and inviting, the clear signs of his imprisonment and torture only making him seem more noble, the miracle being not the defeat of their enemy but rather their wounds being healed and suddenly gaining the power to win themselves (and their attack purifies the miasma around Velgrmon before killing him). He lives up to any expectation the series had built up to the Big Good Digimon, and then he dies. The moment his digitama appears is also very well executed, with Agumon and Gabumon explaining what this mean, how the life of a digimon is, and approaching Takeru to see the egg more clearly, as if in reverence.

We end on a cliffhanger of SkullKnightmon stealing the egg and Devimon saying that this unplanned event will be beneficial for them. After several episodes of cliffhangers, this isn’t among the better ones, but it’s still intriguing enough to mull over for a week.

Other notes:

Leomon is an extremely powerful Adult to be able to defeat a Perfect, even with help.

The Takenouchi family is still very traditional, apparently.

Gomamon makes sure to reassure Palmon in a very paternal fashion.

This is the best episode in the series so far, beating even episode 6 and 12. While I’m scared that the preview next week means we’ll get WarGreymon (which would ruin the series’ pacing yet again), I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Daiken Week 2020: Day 1 - Kindness/Miracles

“You ever think it’s weird how close they are?”

Koushiro looked up from his laptop. “Who?”

Taichi pointed across the table where he, Yamato, Koushiro, and Jyou were studying, and into the Ichijouji’s living room where Daisuke, Ken, Takeru, and Iori were playing Mario Kart.

“Oh,” Koushiro said. “Well, they are younger than the rest of us. Certainly it’s easier to relate to someone closer to your own-“

“No, not all of them,” Taichi cut in. “Daisuke and Ken!”

A burst of laughter punctuated his statement. Daisuke and Ken seemed to be more interested in messing with each other than winning the race, pushing each other off the course and setting up elaborate traps with the power ups. All the while they jostled on the couch, trading playful shoves and taunts, totally comfortable getting in each other’s space. Takeru had taken advantage of their distraction to slide into first place, while Iori cruised along in fifth.

“You’ve seen it, right?” Taichi pressed. “Ever since Ken stopped being the Kaiser, those two have been inseparable.”

Koushiro brought one hand to his chin, squinting thoughtfully into the living room. “I have noticed that they seem to spend more time together than any of us…”

“And have you noticed how… how protective they are of each other? Daisuke flies off the handle if anyone says a bad word about Ken. That one time digimon showed up in the real world, he wouldn’t come with me and Hikari ‘cause he was so worried about Ken. And Ken is like… always at Daisuke’s side! It’s like they’ve got some weird psychic link.”

Koushiro glanced sidelong at him. “Well, they are Jogress partners…”

Taichi shook his head. “Not like the others. Hikari told me when Daisuke and Ken first Jogressed, they moved and spoke in sync for a while. Daisuke even said he could feel Ken’s heartbeat! None of the others mentioned anything like that.” He turned to Yamato. “And it definitely didn’t happen with us!”

Yamato didn’t look up from his textbook. “No one would want to feel your heartbeat, anyway.”

Taichi shoved Yamato. The blonde elbowed him in the side. The ensuing scuffle had Koushiro sighing heavily.

From across the table, Jyou let out a thoughtful hum. “I think it makes sense, if you think about their relationship as a whole.”

Taichi looked up from trying to put Yamato in a headlock. “What do you mean?”

Jyou tapped his pen against his notebook as he turned to face the others. “Well, think about how they met. They were on opposite sides of a conflict, at first. Ken needed to be stopped, obviously, but he was also clearly alone and vulnerable. He needed friends. And who reached out to him first?”

“Daisuke,” Taichi answered automatically, feeling a surge of pride for his protégé. “But that’s because he has the Crests of Friendship and Courage.”

Jyou nodded. “True, but it was also an act of kindness. No one supported Daisuke reaching out to Ken at first, and even Ken had a hard time forgiving himself. But Daisuke couldn’t leave Ken alone with that burden. And don’t you think it was brave of Ken to join the others after what he’d done, to face his mistakes and make up for them?”

Koushiro was watching Jyou intently. Even Yamato had abandoned his studying entirely.

Taichi shook his head. “I guess I never really thought about it like that…”

Jyou reached up to adjust his glasses. “Looking at everything they’ve gone through, their strengths – their Crests – aligned perfectly with each other to help them rise to meet their challenges together. I don’t know if it was fate, or if they would have become so close under any circumstances, but those two seem to complement each other especially well.”

“That makes sense,” Yamato said. “We’ve all given each other strength before. Remember when you saved Takeru at the diner, Jyou? It was your actions that helped me unlock my Crest in the first place.”

Jyou blushed as Koushiro reached for his laptop and opened up a new document. “Humans are community-oriented by nature,” he said, his fingers flying across the keyboard. “If the Digital World chose us to protect it, it would only be logical to equip us with weapons that were designed to utilize that nature as effectively as possible.”

Taichi frowned down at his half-finished assignment. He had always thought of the crests in such individual terms. The Crest of Courage was his, and the others belonged to their respective owners.

But there was more to it than that, wasn’t there? It took the eight of them working together to find and unlock the crests in the first place. The younger chosen had inherited those same crests when they entered the Digital World, and they’d proven time and again how they’d deserved to do so. Even the digimentals of the crests could be used by any of them, a fact the younger kids had discovered accidentally during one harrowing battle. Taichi remembered the pride he had felt at learning that his sister had been able to unlock the Digimental of Courage.

A shout from the living room caught his attention. He looked up in time to see Iori launch a blue shell onto the track, taking out Takeru for the win. Takeru burst out laughing while Daisuke groaned and draped himself dramatically over Ken.

Jyou was right, Taichi thought with a smile. They were always strongest when they came together as a group, when their strengths combined to meet any obstacle.

As long as they had each other, he thought, they could create miracles.

This is something that’s always interested me about Daisuke and Ken’s relationship. Extending a hand of friendship to Ken was an incredible act of kindness on Daisuke’s part, and for Ken, it took a great deal of courage to accept the friendship of the others and own up to his mistakes. There’s also the fact that Daisuke said the Crest of Kindness called out to him. And that even though Daisuke used the Digimental of Miracles, it was with Ken the whole time.

Instead of typing that up in an analysis post, I used it for this day’s prompt! I originally had a much different idea, one that referenced a series I’ve been working on for a long time where the younger chosen children activate each other’s digimentals. There is still a reference to that series here; in the first chapter, Hikari activates the digimental of courage.

Just a Digimon Adventure 2020 Post about The TaiShiro Moments

I love how Taichi and Koushiro are both shown to think highly of the other. Taichi even brags about how smart koushiro is sometimes, its so wholesome.

Everytime the group gets separated, the first person Taichi tries to call is almost always Koushiro.

and in the first episode Koushiro meets up with the rest of the group in the digital world, Taichi's face immediately lights up.

Like if anything happens ever, Koushiro usually addresses Taichi right away. Between Him and Tentomon, both are the ones checking in on Koushiro and making sure he's doing okay.

Specific moments from episode 36:

"but there's only 20 minutes left"

"that's more than enough"

"we won't know unless we try right?" Taichi believing in his ability.

"but--"

"there's no time left, lets go"

"alright, I'll support you!"

Then

"Let's go, koushiro!"

"R-Right!"

Then

Koushiro, you have to do this!"

"me!? No way! I can support you, but I can't--"

"koushiro"

"I leave it to you."

"Taichi-san..."

"I'm counting on you."

*kou hesitates*

"Right!"

"Go, Kosuhiro!"

AND THEN KOUSHIRO THINKING ABOUT HOW HE HAS ATLURKABUTERIMON, AND THEN SPECIFICALLY THINKS BACK TO WHAT TAICHI SAID TO HIM IN EPISODE 3 BEFORE THINKING OF EVERYONE ELSE TOO-

It was also just great to see Koushiro feeling good about his own ability- especially with this music at the end, damn.

episode 43 was funny.

They call eachother like, every episode to see how it's going.

Episode 59

So when they get that trial wrong, Taichi is taken, and [digimon] says he's gonna undergo surgery to become a digimon.

Taichi just smiles and says "Nah don't worry about me guys, I leave the rest to you Koushiro."

Then Koushiro blames himself for whats gonna happen to taichi.

And whiole all this is going on, we know taichi is worried about how the other is handling it right now, since he's under a lot of stress.

Bro koushiro looked so sad.

and then tentomon always believes in koushiro, always. which is exactly what he needs

My commentary:

I’m aware there’s quite a few ongoing and recent fan events right now that might have had Taichi or Koushiro involvement, but I was tied up with offline things; Thus, this time is an A.M.V. that is mainly Koushiro-centric, but TAICHI does get some quite good focus too, and, specifically, also their (Very Good) relationship! There is also some vid-style analysis on the dynamics of Izumi Family, as well as the Yagami Family. It’s also yet another "analysis” of Koushiro & Taichi in general, too. (Basically any of my other ships can also be read in, in varying combos.)

Notes:

This is the preliminary 1st version of this A.M.V. Hopefully you find some enjoyment as it is now though! The 1st part had taken about 45~ min already. The 2nd verse + chorus took about another 35~ min. This 3rd section took about 30 min at start, another 1 hr to wrap up scenes through the interlude, and already had a total of 1 crashing of my editor. The last segment took about 45 min total; Thus, total time spent on this? 3 hours and 35~ min or so. These may not be final scenes as I make future adjustments. (However, it came together well despite the crash!)

There is a tiny bit of scenery shots from beginning of Kizuna, then, by the interlude, some more notable Kizuna spoilers involving Taichi & Koushiro mainly, but you will see a scene involving Chosen. Tri spoilers, mainly Taichi & Koushiro supporting each other moments, are also added in the interlude and the ending; there are small moments from Saikai, Kokuhaku & Kyousei, mainly. The ends of Kokuhaku, Kyousei & Bokura no Mirai / Our Future are not spoiled, but there is lead-up. Kokuhaku middle-end spoiler occurs in the final chorus; a scene namely showing Taichi and Koushiro supporting each other (I’ve used it often in past A.M.V.s). A tiny Bokura no Mirai moment of just Koushiro is also included.

DigiAdv 2020 (for A.U. spinoff{s}) becomes included by the interlude (it’s mainly Koushiro moments from beginning + middle of Ep 36) However, it can also be seen as inclusive of wider Adventure{s} “canon”; and basically paralleling many of the following canon moments.

Commentary:

Other Digimon Adventure & 02 fans often ask me “why” Koushiro Izumi (known as “Izzy” in the U.S. dub, he’s mainly and very specifically intended as “Koushiro” here - but I love “Izzy” too, so!) is one of my top favorite Chosen Children, (if not my MOST favorite) “even” within his CANON storyline, in all versions of the series. This A.M.V. is probably the closest you’ll get to a ‘full’ answer from me. On a side note, June 18th is actually Autism Pride Day! (Though I was intending this A.M.V. to be for the August 1st anniversary...) As an ‘ActuallyAutistic’ fan-works creator, I’ll be glad if other fans can enjoy this A.M.V. when they ask me “why” I appreciate this character so much, on a personal level.

Because that’s something that can be pretty hard to explain in words, but maybe it shows through at least a little here.

This A.M.V. took about 10 full hours to make in total, and it contains about 117 clips (not including the last couple of clips.) The second to last clip (after the song) contains a scene from Digimon Adventure “2020:” Episode 36 (Un-subbed, I’m adding that later) (which also appears throughout the A.M.V., among the start of “2020:”) The “2020:” ending episodes’ (namely Ep. 66)’s Koushiro scenes relevancy are also used in some spots, though the final battle itself is not seen much outside those. There are some Tri spoilers from the middle and ends of the 3rd & 6th parts, especially, but again, the most major of final battles is not shown frequently (only a single post-battle moment, but it does imply some things.)

My Commentary:

(Made this literally on a whim?) Time spent: About 5~6 hours total. Total Clips used thus far (in this mostly-finished version): 100.

While this CAN also be read as semi-Canon Compliancy; Please also understand I very much intended this as ship: Koushiro Izumi x Taichi Yagami (namely in a post-Kizuna sense). {The AMV is meant to show their story as an overview, as if they are reflecting on the events they’ve {already} been through} (I’d appreciate if that was respected as you watch.)

Various Things I’ve Observed About & During Digimon Adventure 2020 / Asked Questions About:

{rambling past this point is likely Outdated, if some things left Unanswered!}:

- “ OLD NET “ is mentioned in Agumons’ profile -- likely relates well to Valdurmon’s Story - Taichi and Koushiro now live in the same building ( confirmed by profiles ) - “Musako Elementary” instead of “Odaiba”...?? - Taichi still knew Sora pre-series - Koushiro’s meeting Taichi / his mannerisms being similar to Kakudous’ Novels, though still not as exactly ( in the Digimon Adventure Novels written by the original Adventure director/Head writer, Hiroyuki Kakudou, Koushiro joins Taichi [& Sora]’s football/soccer club early on pre-series as it’s a “requirement” to join a club, and the soccer club seems like it’d take the least effort [implied, of socializing with others]. Koushiro, however, is then invited by Taichi to join the summer camp, and Koushiro notes how Taichi particularly treats people “without discrimination” - which seems to include Koushiro himself. ) - Taichi treats Koushiro in a very similar way here; immediately inviting Koushiro in and treating him “without discrimination” even more notably. - Taichi’s summer camp (confirmed by profiles) was to be at “ THE END “ of that “week”, when Koushiro first encounters him i.e. Taichi+Koushiro’s encounter took place around the “week” before the summer camp, introducing Taichi+Koushiro to the Digimon some of a week in advance of the camp compared to original Adv i.e. BEFORE August 1st is when Taichi+Koushiro Meet

- Takeru Seems To Have Some Awareness TOO but ( How Much ) Compared To Hikari ??? - The new ending theme shows him quite energetic seeming, indicating he probably isn’t Sick/ill - However, Yamatos’ issues foreshadowed in his own ending, including dramatic Takeru appearances, possibly still indicating the Takaishi-Ishida Issues - Yamato Might Be Living In Shimane / countryside ( where his Grandmother lived in the movie ) + is asked by Takeru to go to “Tokyo” to visit - When transported to the Digital World, a brief seconds-long shot of shadowed-over TENTOMON appears as Koushiros’ dragged in:

He still uses the same speech patterns here, though might have been a bit more direct-seeming with Kabuterimon at the end of Kabuterimons’ evolution episode in Adv 2020 - i.e. his blushing, them lightly bantering, etc.) - Whamon Doesn’t Speak (But Could Later On???) -- In original Adventure (Japanese), Whamon jokes about how he could speak earlier on, he just didn’t want to at the time ( it was along these lines ) -- Possibly could be Similar here -- In Adventure Koushiro helped out via Whamons’ assisting a few times; Whamon specifically shows up to swallow Koushiro ( Intentionally or not ?? ? ? ) - The Complete Lack Of Reference To Izumis (& other parents besides Yuuko), even in flashbacks -- even in early Adventure, Koushiro was having the flashbacks as early as the Kabuterimon episode -- despite his supposed ease at “speaking honestly” here, he has yet to even MENTION Izumis -- “ He Could Just Call Me Koushiro “ when Yamato Pointedly calls him “Izumi”; Koushiro seems bemused - Valdurmons’ Story + The Tasks At Hand (”The Darkness”) + It Will Likely Affect The Real World - Inclusion of DEATHMON - What It Could Mean

Digimon Adventure + Digimon Adventure: (2020 Reboot Anime) ~ Comparisons / Parallels ( + Animation / Character Design Parallels ) + Meta / Character Analysis featuring character: KOUSHIRO(U) [‘Izzy’ in US] Izumi in Digimon Adventure: (2020) Episode 01 vs. Digimon Adventure Episode 24 + Koushiro’s Possessed / Pouty ? / Moody ? Face / Expressions + Koushiro’s canon tendency to NOT pick up on others’ emotions / Connect well

This is a very subtle animation tendency / character aspect of Koushiro’s, that’s actually (thus far!!) only appeared a few times in the series’ canon. Most fans may overlook this aspect of him and his design / implied personality traits, but Koushiro fans in general may tend to pick up on it more often.

Notable aspects of it appeared in Episode 24, the episode where Koushiro first obtained his Crest of Knowledge, and fought Vademon with Tentomon. In this episode, Koushiro gets his “ INQUISITIVE HEART ” (JPN version) taken by Vademon, who convinces Koushiro to “willingly” give it up. Later in the same episode, it becomes particularly noticeable during such instances as: - Koushiro communicating with Taichi via a sudden PC connection, [ the heavily narrowed eyes and subtle blinkings, etc. ] - Koushiro giving up his Crest and “possessions”, - Koushiro yelling at Pabumon who began crying at him, to ‘ not distract him ’ etc.

( ^ Notice how he’s void of emotions at start, but quickly becomes pouty / upset when Pabumon cries notably at him, “distracting” him. ) I was really surprised to see this subtle expression / change in his typical character design actually appear suddenly again in Digimon Adventure 2020 Ep. 01 - we hadn’t really seen it much at all since Episode 24!! ... But at the same time, I’m also kind of not surprised? Japanese fandom has seemed to pick up on the expression more often than Western fandom has - it’s appeared often, at times, in Japanese fandom fanarts, especially those featuring Episode 24 Inquisitive Heart-less!Koushiros in general. It’s particularly noticeable in a LOT of older Koushiro doujinshi from particular circles of the early 2000s era, which tend to emphasize the subtle narrowing of Koushiro’s eyes and the odd “roundness” of his face/cheeks that is emphasized by this subtle style / design change. The little marks under his eyes, as well. Not only the narrowing of his eyes, but his eyes tend to become somewhat “blank(er)” during this kind of expression, as well.

Essentially, it is an expression that appears notably on Koushiro when he is having difficulties with his own emotions, and, connecting with others.
