TORRANCE, Calif., — May 30, 2024 — Marvelous USA, Inc. and XSEED Games today shared a localized version of parent company Marvelous Inc.’s second annual ‘Marvelous Game Showcase,’ which debuted today at 3:00pm PT. President Suminobu Sato hosted the showcase and was joined by key members of development teams to provide updates on titles announced in last year's event, and announce new regional and global initiatives for the Marvelous family of companies.

Farmagia (formerly Project Magia): Product Manager Takehiro Ishida revealed the official title of the project, Farmagia, and presented the game’s opening animation, giving gamers an action-packed look at the cast of characters and powers they wield. Ishida-san also shared details on key characters in the game, designed by popular artist Hiro Mashima, including Ten, the protagonist who often acts before thinking; Arche, his childhood friend who balances both kindness and a competitive nature; Chica, another childhood friend with a more reserved demeanor; and Lookie-Loo, Ten’s sidekick and de-facto mascot. The title is planned for a global release in 2024.

STORY OF SEASONS: The next, as-yet-untitled entry in the beloved franchise continues its development as the team focuses on improvements to the visual presentation and natural environments. Series Manager Hikaru Nakano joined to debut a fresh look at the results of their efforts, highlighting how aspects such as updated natural lighting and festival fireworks have been improved to enhance immersion and atmosphere. The project remains in active development and will be fully revealed at a later date. In the meantime, Nakano-san confirmed new gameplay features including a player-controlled glider and the return of fan-favorite pets.

Amusement Section: Marvelous Inc. supports more than just PC and console entertainment and announced a number of new arcade initiatives including NARUTO: Arcade Battle, which will be available in North America this summer. Players will experience the world of NARUTO on a massive 50” screen, where they’ll engage in intense ninjutsu battles and collect plates to reach the highest rank they can! Arcade titles for Japan release only were also presented.

Indie Partner Lineup: The Marvelous family continues to invest in helping creative and exciting visions from smaller indie developers become a reality with global support for titles! Titles introduced for worldwide release include Bitsummit 2023 Grand Prize winner Death the Guitar, where players become an electric guitar fighting with the power of death metal to avenge their owner, planned for a 2025 release; and Moonlight Peaks, the supernatural-themed vampire farming/life sim title from Dutch developer Little Chicken, scheduled for 2026 release. One additional title, Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, was also presented for release in Asia and Japan by Marvelous on July 28, 2024.

Rune Factory: Following a brief history on the evolution of the Rune Factory series and how it has grown across nine titles released over 18 years, Rune Factory series Director Shiro Maekawa joined the stream to reveal a new video for Rune Factory: PROJECT DRAGON sharing a look at the title’s protagonists. Players can choose to play as either Subaru or Kaguya, two new Earthmates with a twist; they will use the power of dance, rather than farming, to communicate and interact with the world around them. This new approach to interacting with the world comes with non-combat tools, including parasols and drums; series staple weapons like swords; and brand-new weapon types to experiment with, including bows and talismans.

DAEMON X MACHINA: Titanic Scion: First revealed during last year’s Marvelous Game Showcase, DAEMON X MACHINA: Titanic Scion once again closed out the show, where President Sato-san shared an evocative look at Marvelous’ First Studio’s mech-action sequel.  Additional details including platforms and a release window will be announced at a later date.

Does Lara Croft Have a Girlfriend?

A new trailer for Tomb Raider the Legend of Lara Croft came out yesterday and it has some so-called fans upset to put it mildly. Let’s start from the beginning.

Since the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot and the obviously subtextual romantic relationship between Lara and Sam, people have speculated that Lara is gay. The S.S. Endurance ship on here has quite a lot of posts.

In 2020 The Gamer released an article stating that Lara and Sam were supposed to become canon in a continuation comic, Tomb Raider: Inferno. Comic book writer Gail Simone tweeted "You cannot convince me that Lara and Sam aren’t 10,000% gay for each other. It’s not even subtext." Jackson Lanzing said "Gail, we tried so hard to make it canon, We had an entire issue in TR: INFERNO dedicated to Lara going through a toxic drug trip and finally, fully understanding her feelings for Sam. By the time it went to publishing, their culminating kiss had become a friendly hug.” Comic book artist Phillip Sevy also confirmed that the original ending to the issue featured a kiss between Lara and Sam. "I still have the original pencils/inks for that page before I had to redraw it”.

Since then, Crystal Dynamics or Square Enix, has been trying to bury the gay subtext and they didn’t bring Sam back in either of the sequel games.

However, there’s apparently been leaks about the next Tomb Raider game that suggest Lara is going to have a girlfriend. The Video Game Chronicle article from 2022 says: According to the alleged casting notes for Lara, the project is looking to cast an “authentic British” actress in their mid-30s “in the prototype of Emily Blunt or Rosamund Pike”, and the role will involve “romantic scenes with another female character”.

But since 2022 some changes have happened with Tomb Raider. Crystal Dynamics have partnered with Amazon Games and their official article announcing the game on the new Tomb Raider website doesn’t mention anything about a potential girlfriend. So, the likelihood of Lara having a girlfriend in the next game in unfortunately low.

Now onto the main reason for this post.

Netflix released a trailer for the upcoming Tomb Raider anime on 19th August 2024 and some so-called fans had some negative things to say about the trailer. Two things caught their attention the most.

Lara’s body type and her potential relationship with a blonde woman.

Lara has been drawn to have an average athletic build. She’s slim and her arms and legs are quite muscular. These fans were complaining that she’s been drawn too thicc, too androgenous and her bust isn’t big enough. Of course, the screenshots they use are of Lara at awkward angles to prove their point. Some one even claimed she has a Steven Universe body, whatever that means.

Lara just a few seconds later has an average sized bust, which isn’t even important, but shows they'll provide false "evidence" to support their claims.

Lara looks like a strong, athletic woman, which she is considering she climbs cliffs and goes on adventures. Lara needs the arm and leg muscles to get her up those walls.

These fans compared Lara’s body type to rock climbers. But I found way more images of rock climbers with muscular builds.

Isn’t it a good thing that women of all body types can rock climb if they want to?

Considering Lara’s profession, her body type is very logical. And she doesn’t look super skinny like her original design.

This design in anatomically impossible and it looks like she doesn’t have any organs.

Lara shouldn’t be an impossible standard for young girls and women to idolise. She should look like a real person.

Even all these male heroes in today’s media are an impossible standard and it’s bad for young boys and men looking up to them and it’s bad for the actors as they are severely dehydrated.

Just 20 years ago we didn’t have this impossible standard for men. Since then, instead of it getting better for women, it’s gotten worse for men. This isn’t the equality I wanted.

The second issue they have is a blonde woman, I don’t know her name, taking Lara’s hand in hers.

This woman is very clearly worried for Lara’s safety and because she looks at Lara like this:

they think the woman is Lara’s girlfriend.

Because a woman can’t be worried about her friend without being called gay right? That’s the only way they’re allowed to show concern for someone. They also think the blonde woman is gay because of her haircut and her body type. Having broad shoulders, narrow hips and a small bust. Which again doesn’t even seem to be true. They're about the same width from this angle.

The official website says nothing about this woman and who she is; and I don’t want to get my hopes up thinking she is her girlfriend when she might not be.

So, the questions that every fan seems to have: Is Lara Croft gay? Does Lara Croft have a girlfriend? Are still unanswered. There is nothing definitive to say no or yes. The only thing we can do is wait and see.

We might find out on 10th October 2024 when they release the show and we might not. We'll also see if Lara has a girlfriend in the next game. For now we still have our fanart, fanfic and headcanons to give us what they haven't.

XBOX EXCLUSIVES TO PLAYSTATION?

Hold your horses, there's no official confirmation! But a recent announcement from Phil Spencer has eluded to change on the horizon...

This is not the first time we've heard these rumblings, with exclusives like Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush pushed through the rumour mill and appearing as multi-platform titles on the other side! Sony's dominance with the PS5 is no secret and it seems that this could be the logical step forward for Microsoft!

So at the very least, next week will deliver next steps for Xbox, but as a PlayStation gamer I'm excited at the prospect of potentially blasting off to explore the unknown in the likes of Starfield, and especially, donning the hat and whip as Indiana Jones when The Great Circle launches this year!

All we can do is sit tight, tune in and wait for the truth to come out!

History repeating: Nintendo vs. Colplo and Nintendo vs. Poket Pair On December 22, 2017, Nintendo filed a lawsuit against Colopl over six counts of patent infringement. The main talking point in this lawsuit is the use of a joystick-like control scheme known as ぷにコン (Punicon) in the mobile game Shironeko Project. Nintendo argued that the control scheme violated patent #3734820, which was registered back in October 2005 and used in Super Mario 64 DS. The lawsuit ended with a settlement where Colopl agreed to change the control scheme and pay a settlement fee.What doesn’t get talked about much in the West is that Nintendo made amendments twice in 2016 before filing the lawsuit against Colopl. In other words, Nintendo adjusted the patents to specifically target Punicon to increase their chances of winning.Nintendo is doing the same thing against Pocket Pair Inc.To clarify, we do not have confirmation on which patents Nintendo is using against Pocket Pair. Unlike Colopl’s case, neither Nintendo nor Pocket Pair has disclosed the information to the public. What we speculate to be the violated patents are the Pokéball throwing/capturing and Pokémon riding techniques. FC 24's release date has been shown

FC 24's release date has been shown yet--the match hasn't even technically been announced--but it is a safe bet show convention will be followed by it and fall below the end of September. With that disclaimer out how, let's take a look at what we do understand about the world's biggest soccer game, and what we'd like to EA FC 24 Coins see from that year's new FIFA game through E3 2024--also, more specifically, its own livestream throughout EA Play.

Though this year's game hasn't been disclosed, programmer EA has shared some of FC 24's gameplay enhancements. Top of this list is AI currently defending, with a emphasis and incentive placed on manual as opposed to letting the computer shield for you. Among those ways EA intends to do so is by increasing the likelihood a manual handle will propel the ball to a teammate. Automatic defending will determine its overall efficacy reduced and response times slowed.

Shooting is also being revamped, with attackers given greater precision during situations that are simple, like being clean throughout from the'keeper. Goalkeepers' response times will be reduced in these situations to resolve the occasionally"superhuman" responses players complained of. Furthermore, the time window for green shots has been reduced to two frames for most shots, and they will also be"less precise." EA did, however, reassure players that green timed shots will"be more precise than non-timed shots."

A great deal of work is being done on shooting more realistic and making passing, EA says in regards to difficult strikes. Volleys will be more variable and less accurate, for instance, while 180° and first time moves will end in"slower/weaker balls" Simple circumstance passes will be more precise, to compensate.

EA has confirmed an E3 livestream discussing FC 24 will air on June 8 at 11 AM PT / two PM ET / 7 PM BST (that's 4 AM AET on June 9). EA says it will demonstrate a number of the gameplay improvements mentioned previously,"and some other surprises we are eager to talk about." It is one of a variety of games that are going to be showcased; the stream will devote a fantastic chunk of time instead of having a press conference that is conventional.

FC 24 felt great, and the addition of this officially licensed Champions League made to get a slicker product. Career mode was left sorely lacking. No significant new features were added with changes from the year before. We'd love career mode to observe a radical overhaul. Give us a proper scouting system, arena developments, resistance reports, and also a way. The choice to pay for gamers in installments is long overdue.

The Ultimate Team community is gasping for more about what FC 24 will have in store for FUT, also by a selfish perspective, I would love to find the English National League introduced. The license for England's fifth grade would come and its inclusion would add yet another layer of credibility to an ecosystem.

Before this year, the FIFA publisher was thought to have expressed'concern' over a new law in the US that could prohibit the selling of Ultimate Team packs.Speaking into Eurogamer, FC 24 creative Manager Matt Prior revealed he was aware of the laws, but claimed that the company does not believe the controversial mode is gambling.
