Heads up to anyone sensitive about eye trauma in Baldur's Gate 3. Also, slight spoilers for BG3,

The plot centers around Mindflayers and Illithids, which reproduce by infecting hosts with a leech-like tadpole inserted into the eye socket. Your character has one of those inserted in the opening cutscene, and a lot of the starting plot centers around finding a way to remove it.

At one point, you can ask Volo for help removing it from your eye socket, he pulls out an 8inch long needle and tries to fish it out before deciding that he needs a better tool. He pulls out an ice pick and goes to town, stabbing you so far you can't even speak to reply to him, and he pops your eye straight out of its socket. He does hand you a magical prosthetic eyeball that lets you see invisible stuff, so that may be worth it for you.

So yeah, beware. It gives you plenty of options to back out of Volo's "procedure", so I got nobody to blame but myself, but that freaked me out ngl.
