Okay this is random but let me tell you how much I love Pink Floyd okay
Like their music is a whole vibe
There are songs for when ur happy, sad and drunk or high literally any mood. (Dare I say any color you like?? Lol.)
I mean god they’re their own genre you got other bands who sound “similar” to them but like Pink Floyd is literally in their own lane
You try to find out what you even call the music they play but it’s just so out of the box musically and eccentric for it’s time (the 70s were wild in general tho)
Each layer of their songs is so unique ugh (so.many. layers. Yet the foundation of their songs stays consistent with each album cycle)
It’s impossible not to just step back and appreciate their work as a musician.
I have such a fascination with all the layers
Every weird ass chime or note that Waters sings or plays is just like ??? But it makes sense. All the twangs and random noises you wouldn’t think about to put in a song (in the late 60’s and early 70’s no less!!!!)
All the randomness are cleverly placed on each song. (Echoes is a great example and it’s incredibly long song). Another awesome thing is the constistency of all the noises, like the dial tone/dead line in The Wall, the heartbeat in Dark Side of the Moon.
You simply cannot hit shuffle with Pink Floyd it just doesn’t flow
if you’re like me and you expect the next song on the album to play but it’s on shuffle your brain is goes hey!!! That’s not the next song!!!
Each album is its own vibe and style but still remains so aesthically pleasing to the ears???? (Holy shit just appreciate it for a second)
The albums are meant to go in order!!! It tells a story, and each one has it!!!
Also The Wall. There’s a movie just google it. It’s the weirdest yet most intriguing movie I’ve ever seen. Incredibly graphic and leaves the mind up to interpret it. The storyline tho is about a boy who grows up without a father. There is barely any dialogue The Wall literally is the dialogue.
They played with so many sounds and effects on each album the producers must’ve had a field day
And yes it’s a high probability they were on drugs when making them but still!!!
Also random fun fact: comfortably numb was written by gilmour and was intended for his first solo album but it went on The Wall instead. It’s a gilmour song period and if you listen to the live version during his concert at Pompeii you just know that’s his song.
Just ugh
I love Pink Floyd ok.

....I want to try to fuse afrofuturism....with that 70's/80's Shoujo aesthetic of giant sparkle eyes and over the top emotional reactions and weirdly beautiful elongated proportions and elaborate hair/outfits and uuugh why do I do this to myself? The elaborate hairdos we wear fit right in with the aesthic too lord help me.
