[S] WV: Be the hero Can Town deserves.
(page 755)
A few weeks ago I asked the question, ‘would WV be a good mayor?’ I confess that I was being a little silly when writing that post, but I am now ready to take a serious stance. In today’s animation, the Wayward Vagabond has cleared their path to the exit, but they’re not willing to escape alone. They’re not going anywhere without their tiny firefly companion and the several dozen cans they’ve personified as citizens. So like a fresh faced gnome in the first chapter of a fantasy novel, they gather up the cans into a pumpkin bindle and carry it over their back with a meter stick, and attempt to rescue everyone. I call that beautiful. If they care this much about cans, imagine how much they might care about members of their own species.
On page 753, Serenity’s Morse code reads LETS GO!!!, and I bookmarked Wikipedia’s handy Morse guide for further use. In this animation, the translations (HURRY UP, IS THIS REALLY NECESSARY? and THIS IS INCREDIBLY SILLY) appear with the Morse on screen. I would have screenshotted and translated if necessary, but it’s nice that this video is so accessible. Especially when this comic has things like Sassacre’s text on page 69 which are pretty challenging to read even as someone with good eyesight.
This animation parallels the end of act 1 flash (p.246) in a couple ways. Both play a Sburban theme as a timer counts down from 30 seconds – a timer that exists for the character, but is displayed to be useful for the viewer and provide a sense of urgency and anxiety, as we watch our current focal character hesitate on their way to accomplishing a goal. Both also feature a second character in that focal character’s life. For John it’s his dad, who’s understandably surprised by the sudden meteor; for WV it’s Serenity, who – as the responsible figure hurrying them out of the bunker – is arguably equivalent to their guardian. In fact, she’s probably a better parent than any of the characters’ guardians so far.
There’s differences, too. The big one is that John wins. He bites that apple just in time to save himself, while WV almost makes it – gets so close that based on this past experience, we think they’re gonna make it – and then they fail. I want WV and their cans to escape so bad, but I’m SO compelled by how this establishes Homestuck as a story where failure at the last second is possible (with a perfect variant on Sburban Jungle and Sburban Countdown to match). The anxiety of the timer is real, we were right to feel that fear, and next time the tension will be heightened even further because we know that things could go either way. The possibilities have opened up so much.
Stylistically, the end of act 1 flash is essentially a series of GIFs linked in succession – examples – with today’s feeling like a far more dynamic animation, with so much continuous movement from WV. The three days without updates leading up to this flash – the longest time so far without a new Homestuck page – has definitely been spent working hard on this, and the extra effort shows. Today’s animation is also far more character focused, compared to EOA1 showing us the environment and the broader situation, which had already been revealed to us. While it would make sense for the end of the timer to mean the end of the act (as before), there’s still so much we don’t know about what’s happening to WV – hopefully the final ‘psyche’ leaves us with a chance to find out.

Tw Programming
Hey I just sent an ask but I don’t think it went through because the wifi was down oops. So I’m just gonna resend it.
Thank you so much for what you do. I’ve read your book from front to back, chainless slaves. It’s helped me understand what’s going on with my partner a bit easier and helped them understand a lot about themselves in a safe environment.
I had a question that maybe you could give insight on. A few days ago my partner was triggered from a video game with programming elements to it. They keep repeating 1.753 over and over again while they are asleep. Even their therapist is confused by it. Do you perhaps have any insight? I’ve seen programming codes but not this
I would need more information. Such as the script, type of programming, etc. Numbers are difficult as their meaning can vary from system to system.
For example: 1.753 is a repeating number. When 1.753 repeats, it could mean that 3, 53, or 753 is repeating.
Thank you for reading Chainless Slaves. I’m glad it helped you understand a bit.
Take care,
Oz

Data Collection and Analysis: A Comprehensive Guide to Qualitative and Online Methods
Introduction
Data collection and analysis are central to the research process, whether the study is qualitative or quantitative. In today’s digital age, online data collection has become an increasingly popular and effective way to gather data. Whether researchers are conducting qualitative studies or looking to collect data through digital platforms, the integration of online tools offers flexibility, speed, and scalability. This article delves into the intricacies of qualitative data collection and analysis, the rise of online data collection, and how both methods contribute to comprehensive research.
Qualitative Data Collection and Analysis
Qualitative research focuses on understanding phenomena through in-depth exploration and interpretation. Unlike quantitative research, which relies on numerical data, qualitative research collects non-numerical data, such as words, observations, and images, to explore how individuals perceive and experience the world. Common methods for qualitative data collection include interviews, focus groups, and participant observations.
Interviews, often conducted face-to-face or through video calls, provide researchers with the opportunity to explore participants’ thoughts, feelings, and experiences in great depth. Focus groups involve small groups of participants who discuss specific topics, providing insights into collective perspectives and group dynamics. Participant observation allows researchers to immerse themselves in the environment they are studying, observing behaviors and interactions in their natural setting.
Once data is collected, it undergoes qualitative data analysis, which involves identifying themes, patterns, and insights. This process is more interpretive than statistical analysis, with researchers coding the data to categorize and interpret its meaning. Qualitative analysis can be time-consuming but yields rich, nuanced insights that are valuable in understanding complex social phenomena.
Online Data Collection: The Digital Revolution
The advent of the internet and digital tools has transformed the way data is collected. Online data collection offers a number of advantages, including access to a broader, more diverse sample of participants, as well as the ability to collect data quickly and efficiently. This method has become particularly popular for surveys, questionnaires, and other forms of structured data collection.
Online surveys, for instance, allow researchers to reach large numbers of respondents in a short period of time. Platforms like Google Forms, SurveyMonkey, and Qualtrics enable researchers to design surveys, distribute them to a global audience, and automatically collect responses in real time.

Navigating Houston Roof Replacement Options
When it comes to maintaining the integrity of a home, one of the most significant investments any homeowner in Houston can make is roof replacement. The roof serves as the primary defense against the elements, and over time, even the sturdiest roofs will require attention to ensure they continue to provide optimal protection and aesthetic appeal.
Understanding When It's Time for Roof Replacement
The need for a Houston roof replacement can stem from various factors including age, wear-and-tear, weather damage, and even aesthetic updates. Recognizing when it's time to replace your roof is key to preventing further damage that could lead to more costly repairs. Some telltale signs include missing or broken shingles, leaks during rainfall, sagging areas, or sunlight visible through the roof boards.
Selecting Your Materials
Houston homeowners have several options when it comes to selecting materials for their new roof. Choices range from traditional asphalt shingles favored for their cost-effectiveness and ease of installation to more durable materials like metal roofing which offer longevity and energy efficiency benefits. It is crucial to consider factors such as climate resilience given Houston’s susceptibility to severe weather events.
Hiring a Professional Roofing Contractor
The execution of a successful Houston roof replacement project hinges on hiring a reputable roofing contractor with local experience. They should be well-versed in handling everything from simple shingle replacements to complex installations involving different roofing systems. A professional contractor will also navigate local building codes and obtain necessary permits ensuring that your new roof meets all legal requirements.
The Replacement Process
Understanding what a Houston roof replacement entails can help homeowners prepare for the process. Initially, an inspection is conducted followed by removal of the old roofing material. Next is evaluating and repairing any structural damage before installing the new roofing system. Homeowners should expect some noise and disruption but a professional team will minimize inconvenience wherever possible.
Energy Efficiency Considerations
In today’s environmentally conscious world, many homeowners are interested in making their homes more energy-efficient; this extends to choosing roofing materials that reflect rather than absorb heat thus reducing cooling costs particularly in hot climates like Houston's. Discussing these options with your contractor can lead you towards choices that benefit both your wallet and the environment.
Maintenance Tips Post-Replacement
Post-installation maintenance is essential for prolonging the life of your new Houston roof replacement. Regular inspections especially after severe weather events help identify potential problems early on while keeping gutters clear prevents water buildup that could damage your new roofing system. In conclusion, undertaking a Houston roof replacement project can seem daunting but armed with knowledge about when it’s needed what materials are available how to select a contractor what process entails energy efficiency considerations and post-replacement maintenance homeowners can navigate this journey confidently ensuring their homes remain safe secure and beautiful for years to come.

Article 113
Article 113.
Property donated or left by will to the spouses, jointly and with designation of determinate shares, shall pertain to the donee-spouses as his or her own exclusive property, and in the absence of designation, share and share alike, without prejudice to the right of accretion when proper.
Article 113 contemplate two situations where the property is donated to the spouses or inherited by them with designation of shares and where there is no designation of shares.
In both cases, such property belongs to them exclusively, and if there is no designation as to their shares, the property shall be divided between them, but it shall belong to them exclusively.
The rule cited is without prejudice to the right of the accretion.
Accretion is a right by virtue of which, when two or more persons are called to the same inheritance, devise or legacy, the part assigned to the one who renounces or cannot receive his share, or who died before the testator, is added or incorporated to that of his co-heirs, co-devisees, or co-legatees.
So that if the the spouse would remove her share or cannot receive it, or dies before the testator or donor, but her share would go to, or would be added to, the share of x by virtue of the right of accretion.
PROPERTY DONATED OR LEFT BY WILL TO SPOUSES
A donor or testator may donate or provide in a will property to the spouses jointly. Determinate share of each of the spouses and, in the absence thereof, share and share alike. The property of the donation well then be considered separate property of the spouse.
ACCRETION IN CASE OF DONATION
It is the incorporation or addition of property to another property. As a general rule in joint donation, one could not accept indecently of his co-donee, for there is no right of accretion unless expressly so provided. One of the exemptions is when the joint donation is in favor of husband and wife, Article 753 of the Civil Code;

#I mean... he was around for the Romans right?
irl timeline wise, yeah. The israelite King Solomon was,, around 220 years old when the roman republic was founded [753 BCE]. 900-something when Gaius Julius Ceasar was assasinated [44 BCE]
But, according to the game, he's older than that.
According to most dictionaries, "several" is 3 to 5 things. So the fall happened in 3000-1000 BCE. He was already a very powerful and well established sorcerer before that, so i'd say he's at least 4000-6000 years old [4000-2000 BCE]
Here's some things Solomon could be older than:
Writing Civilization. like at all. Bronze age pottery wheel study of mathematics the oldest known law [Code of Ur-Nammu] domesticated horses? [3500 BCE] domesticated chickens [2000 BCE] wine in Italy [4000 BCE] stonehenge this very neat copper finial depicting a a stag and 2 cows from alaca Hüyük [northern turkey] [2400–2200 BCE]
Things he most likely isn't older than:
agriculture dogs
mammon finds smthn that happened in like human history and just comes to mc like
"mc did they try to stop this?"
"idk"
"how do you not know??!! youre human!!"
"mammon i was ONE"
LOL. Listen he's a demon, you can't really expect him to understand this human aging stuff!
I think it'd also be funny if it was something really old.
Mammon: MC, did you know about this Roman empire? They were conquering all kinds of places!
MC: Do you... think I was alive back then?
Mammon: ... weren't you?
MC: Do I LOOK like Solomon to you?!?

I dislike the way this is worded. When it says "the institution of slavery went back to the kingdom of Rome dated between 753-509 BCE," it feels like the author is implying that Rome invented slavery. Slavery is older than recorded history, folks, with the oldest surviving written records making reference to slave ownership and the buying and selling thereof. The Epic of Gilgamesh (2100 BCE), for example, makes reference to slave ownership, while the Code of Hammurabi (1750 BCE) issues laws governing the ownership of slaves.
In fact, when compared to Classical Athens, where over a third of the people were slaves, or Classical Sparta where the helots made up roughly 85% of the local population, it makes Rome's 20% look less significant. Not that this absolves the SPQR in any way, but one of my historical pet peeves is would-be scholars who act like the only peoples to ever own slaves were the Roman Empire and the pre-Civil War American South.
Did you know that 1 in 5 people were slaves during the Roman Empire? This video is all about the widespread institution of slavery in ancient Rome.
Slavery was a widespread institution in ancient Rome with 1 in 5 people serving as slaves during the time of the empire, but the institution of slavery went back to the Kingdom of Rome dated between 753-509 BCE, and it developed during the time of the Republic between 509 and 27 BCE – before becoming the most prevalent form of free labor during the Roman Empire – from 27 BCE to 476 CE. Slaves were originally prisoners of war but, in time, could be those sold by their families to relieve debt, those kidnapped by slavers, convicted criminals, or those born into slavery. Slaves had no rights and no recourse to the law as they were viewed as the property of their masters just as a chair or couch or cup would be.

BEING AUTISTIC + CLOSE TO IDIA SHROUD
Pairing: Idia Shroud x reader (platonic/ romantic)
Content: requested, gn reader (you/your), autistic reader + idia (:D), implied sensory overload, fluff, 753 words
Notes: I have never finished a request faster omgee, heres P1 btw

•Playing video games is a guessing game of who's going to mimic a phrase or accent first
•Pausing games to explain lore. Or to just go on about characters, settings or coding
•Having a mutual agreement to just. Mute The Game when a character begins yelling in an angry tone (captions are a lifesaver)
•Largely disliking Coach Vargas for the same reason (he's loud, he's shouty, he's rude)
•Relating over misreading social situations completely (e.g. Idia's pe kit vignette) And mutually agreeing that Neurotypicals need to Get A Grip and be straightforward (this also helping lessen the guilt and anxiety around asking each other for clarification). Complaining about how Neurotypicals act in general together (it's cathartic)
•Never talking to each other in the morning. Not just because of your wrecked sleeping schedule but also a shared understanding that holding a conversation in the morning Is Hell.
•Possessing a pacing stim will have you marching around his room whilst Idia tries to keep up with your rambling
•If you have a fidgeting stim, then there are stim/fidget toys strewn around Idia's bedroom (Ortho keeps on buying the latest ones) that are free for you to use
•A biting stim (clothes, pens, straws etc) is something you would have in common with Idia. This, paired with his sharp teeth, is why, you find out, he tries not to use pencils or pens as one time his chewing made the ink explode in his face (it's now his picture in your contacts)
•Idia is somewhat sensitive about his gaming consoles, so if you have a hand flapping stim, he freaks out a little if you're holding it and stimming
•RSD making games such as otome ones, where you risk choosing the wrong option, a nightmare. So playing one with him including searching up the answers, whether Idia likes or not (him actually doing it too at times)
•You both understanding how important hyperfixations can be and taking turns letting the other go on about their special interest in conversations that can last hours. It being the most comfortable you see Idia when he talks
•Whenever his hoodie gets too wrecked from overuse or chewing on his hood/sleeves/hoodie strings etc. Being there as a reminder to get a fresh one, whether it's cleaning or buying (he's rich, he can afford it). But also not being too forward as new clothes sometimes just Aren't The Same. And you get that
•Whenever his fixation does change to a new form of media, Idia being able to afford every piece of merch available (but him getting you stuff related to your special interest on holidays/ special occasions, so you won't Eat The Rich this time you guess) One time he got you a weighted blanket that matched his, it's still in the Top Things He's Ever Given You (an unofficial ranking)
•You both having a month-long pre-plan for all special events in the games you play together because the first time Idia called you to play one with him, it was out of the blue and risked your routine. Ever since then, they've become a genuine, important part of your day-to-day life.
•Speaking of routine, Friday is designated Game Night and the hang-out you both try not to avoid the most
•Though Sensory Overload is a Bitch, which makes multiplayer chat even better for the both of you as you can game together, but separately!
•When finding out Idia's headphones were allowed due to sensory issues, him giving you suggestions on how to get the same help at school.
•Facetiming/calls where neither of you actually say anything to each other and just hang out digitally and do your own thing.
•That happening in his bedroom as well. And it being an effective way to talk in person without having to feel the pressure to keep eye contact (because even the strongest of autistic friendships endure masking)
•Other times messaging each other once and it counting as your full interaction for the day (and it not having any ulterior meaning like arguing or being upset)
•When visiting locations from his anime, cities tending to be the place you frequent at the least (a personal preference of Idia's). You both began going even less when you visited a restaurant with the worst fluorescent lights imaginable, and then left to a street filled with rowdy fans leaving a Magift game.
•Using his interests to distract/ build confidence in Idia when his anxieties on these trips get the better of him.
