new fanfic pet peeve is when people are writing children and clearly don’t know the difference between a 3-year-old, a 7-year-old, and a 13-year-old. this newborn isn’t saying words, this teenager is learning emotional intelligence, this child is literally not capable of comprehending that complex topic. please, it takes 2 minutes to look up “how should a 9-year-old be speaking” and “how developed is a 4-year-old’s mind”

you could even take it a half step further and look up the various stages of development in people. piaget, kohlberg, erikson, all those psychologists created these stages because we all followed such strict patterns when growing. you don’t need to go into the moral development of your oc’s child but at least make sure they’re speaking and acting like a child would at that age.

also when in doubt, for older children just go for more mature. it’s far better than treating teenagers like they don’t know what an emotion is lol

#writing this because the fic i just read followed a LOT of 13-year-olds #and yet none of them were at ALL emotionally mature #like they were at the maturity i would’ve expected from a 9- or 10-year-old at best #just complete lake of control or awareness and no recognition of development #if your fic follows a large period of time we should be seeing GROWTH #it’s not enough to just acknowledge the birthdays passing #i’d like to see more complex thoughts and actions and awareness of consequences #i want to see your characters starting to feel regret and compassion more #weighing pros and cons and dealing with possibilities #they aren’t just existing anymore. they are actively participating in the world #but nooooo have your bloody 16-year-old be blubbering and unable to parse out a simple emotional interaction #yeah yeah context and whatever but seriously it’s just embarrassing #we already put so much effort into our fics so WHY should we give up here??

Reading a fic that's so well written I wish I could close my eyes and just let the descriptions and atmosphere wash over me, but the dilemma with closing my eyes is, well, I then would not be able to continue reading this fic, now would I.

#fanfiction #fanfic #reading #i don't read longform fic very often but this one is so good wow i'm in awe and clicking next chapter next chapter #the movie it's for I'm not even a particular major fan of itself but I am a fan of the character and the ideas and oh my god #they perfect it to a tee in every way even better than the movie could and yet keep their characterization spot on in line with the og #it's amazing the way they balance the humour and banter with the suspense/tension and drama/horror #and their descriptions are gorgeous/pick out just the right details #their follow-up is more canonical to me as a sequel than the actual official sequel which is wrong in so many ways #and I am in love with their writing style so much my god #i'll say the fic if asked probably will honestly make a rec post for it when I'm done just because wow but here i'm just vague posting #i mean it's 10 yrs old and I've been reading fic for 8-9 yrs and it is truly one of the best I've read in all of that #from all my tags I mean you can labour a guess for the fandom or fic and if you were to guess it wow good job I'd be impressed #but anyway !!! love finding masterpieces I hope this person decided to become an author in those 10 yrs almost *sobs*#I'm gonna say the fic anyway whatever it's From Out the Ocean Risen by Bluestar god it's good (for p/acific r/im)

Like that algae king and stuff. Also the Master #(Let's not talk about 11)#10 had a very intense thing with Harold Saxon AND Jack #Plus the number of guys he flirted with - among them Shakespeare #And I don't even have to talk about 9 whose first kiss on screen was with a man #To be fair it is mostly off-screen/casual and the Master and Jack #So like if we interpret it as above we can make it work at least #(But. Yes. Also: Lee!! Literally married a man. Even if that was only for staying undercover there were definitely some deep feelings there #and I am quite sure had they been purely platonic they would not have posed as married. But as siblings or best friends or something)#If we are being completely real the sentence is probably about the Doctor discovering they can find people hot now #But that actually wasn't there before I think?#So then Donna's comment makes little sense #Or no hang on - 12 found the dinosaur hot and all of them the TARDIS obviously #So maybe that's what it's all about actually

Well that happened. That was a DLC.

#i havent even finished it yet but i got to the final boss phase 2 so its basically done #but uhm yeah #i have so so many thoughts (i wanna try hold em off til i beat the final boss - i want to read the lore) but basically:#music: 10/10 incredible as always #gameplay: 9/10 #<- the new weapons the AREAS bro the areas some of the best in the game #and tbh most of the bosses i found fun #they are far from perfect (except you rellana girl i love youuuuuu) but most of them are great #<- final boss not included because i only just got to him today and tbh its like #fine ig but i KNOW its gonna be like messmer aka rip my frame rate #story: 5/10 #why were the side line npcs better stories than the main crew #the main crew individually were honestly solid but the dlc as a whole really idk #im not sure how to describe it but the story is kinda just... there #tbh i knew miquella was gonna be a bastard i didnt believe that miquella the kind stuff for a second #and tbh hes a complex character #but idk its liek the whole story was about him but i feel im so lost on what was actually going on #so overall: i wanna say 9/10 even though i didnt vibe with the story i had so much fun with the dlc as a whole that it was worth it for me #i feel like from passing bits ive seen thats an unpopular opinion but idgaf i enjoyed it #now i need to go stare at rellana art and finish my tarnished riku piece #best part of the dlc was the drip actually the drip was peak #and a certain weapon #i could probably name drop it but its my new fav weapon its just a classic i love it to bits #elden ring spoilers #uh just in case

fun fact about me: i'm insecure about so many random things that i've never flipped anyone off in my 22 years of life because i think my middle finger looks awkward and ugly by itself

#and like i say: brf slt #i felt like this especially when i would have been likely to do it semi-regularly like in middle school. but like i was thinking about this #the other day and i did it in front of a mirror just to check and it looked as bad as i remember like it's just not for me #i have a story abour middle fingers though or just about what one would call the finger #when i was in what an american would call the 5th grade (i can never do when i was x years old because it's not an accurate representation #of the class i was in since i skipped a grade and the grade is what matters more to me. when i was 9 and my friends were 10 i was saying)#we would always play this game called girls catch guys or guys catch girls where the girls would run after the guys and like tap them on #the shoulder and then they would go to prison and they would line up and another guy could set them free by like touching one of the #prisoners it was a very fun game except it's way more fun to be like the ones getting caught than to be the ones catching and we would #ALWAYS play girls catching guys and it was very unfair we would be like okay in the morning we do guys catching girls in the afternoon #girls catching guys so it's fair like normal system but the guys NEVER wanted to do it (and we would always give in because like we still #wanted to play ig and idk guys. female socialization) they never wanted to be the ones doing the catching it was so unfair because we also #didn't like it as much and we did it all the time?#and i remember this one morning we were fighting about this we had literally all agreed that it was fair this way but they didn't want to #do it and my second best male friend flipped me and my best (female) friend off and (very #important detail) he did it with both of his hands so like two middle fingers and i don't know why because i'm not even sure that that's a #thing but one middle finger meant fuck you and two middle fingers meant go fuck yourself and to us that was very different? and i remember #my friend and i we like knew what it meant but for some reason we were like. he did do the one finger before doing the two does this mean #he...loves us because it literally means he wants to have sex with us #but what's funny is we never talked to him again after that and i don't even know why that was our last straw because i remember i #genuinely liked him before that like i said he was my second best male friend! so like maybe sixth best friend overall that's not bad #and he's not the only guy friend who flipped us off that year like it was so random to stop talking to him after that😭#like he was an actual enemy we really did not like him we talked about him in letters we'd give each other using a nickname etc #and what's even funnier is in our last year of middle schoold FOUR YEARS AFTER THIS a friend of a friend told him he should become friends #with well my friend and he was like hm i don't think so have you seen who she hangs out with? marianne *last name* like why do YOU hate #me😭 it was so funny like wdym it was mutual this whole time. i had literally moved on by then i didn't even care about hating him #anymore like wow...i think he's the only person i hated who actually hated me back

finished clone high s2 and it wasn't amazing but it was fun and that's what matters 👍🏿

#the characters really carried the season eye think. the plots were a lot more eccentric/less grounded than s1 #which isnt necessarily a bad thing but i liked how the 1st season felt so natural #had a lot of good gags n jokeys too #for me eps 3 8 and 9 were the best ones #in total for me its like a uuuuuhhhhhh 7/10 #i liked it! cant wait for season 3 #clone high #fav charas were scudworth frida + topher #also joan is a very fun mc

good GOD this trip. I have loved the scenery and the hikes we have been on, but my family is about to drive me bonkers.

#literally none of them are capable of making a single fucking decision without debating it for hours #and none of them communicate clearly so there is an insane amount of confusion #and we have done next to nothing because they cannot do anything in a reasonable time frame #like we were supposed to leave at 8:30 this morning and we didn't leave until 9:15 #and then we got to the hike spot and my mom lost her glasses and instead of checking under her fucking seat #we had to spend a good half hour looking for them... guess where they were #and then we spent 10 minutes debating if we were going to do the hike we had already Fucking PICKED #and then my mom passed out halfway through the hike which is not her fault and I'm not upset about at all #but we decided to not do the rest of the hike and instead go to the town and look at the artist shops #which was totally good with me except we got there and they all decided they didn't want to look at the shops!!!!!!!!!#yes they were mostly galleries of art we can't afford but they were cool to look at #but nope. spent idk an hour wandering around OUTSIDE THE STORES #we did get the best chai I've ever had tho at a little shop there DELICIOUS #and then they were like beginning the dinner debate and I decided I was fucking done #so I just picked a place and said we are eating here and called and made a reservation and told them to get in the fucking car #like I Get It. it can be hard to pick things but at some point SOMEONE has to make a choice #we can't stand around going 'idk whatever you want' 'i'm okay with anything' 'what did you say?' 'did we decide?' ALL THE TIME #AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I need everyone who got back into Doctor Who because of the new specials with Tennant back who dropped out midway through Capaldi's run to PLEASE go back and watch series 10 it's legit one of the most consistently good series of new who. I have a LOT of problems with Moffat as a writer but he actually managed to deliver a well-paced season of television for the first time in his damned life. Capaldi is at his best in S10 (no longer being forced through his dumb midlife crisis plotline) and Bill is great and it finally justifies Missy and turns her into one of the most developed Master incarnations we've seen. The finale especially is a really standout story and one of my favorites in the entire show.

So I finished Room No.9 yesterday, and boy am I thankful for the option to turn off scat stuff. They really had to make the enema scene slightly different in each route so you'd have to read the whole thing again every time huh?

#room no 9 #room no.9 #i had it off the whole time so i have no idea how bad it was supposed to be and i'll keep it that way #AU where they make the fucking camera feed available so my boy seiji doesn't have to go through that #i hoped we would get more info about the kidnappers or more stuff with the other rooms #and i'm kinda sad that there's no ending where they just start dating normally #also i wish there were more body hair since there's the option to turn it off anyway #it was kinda giving razor ads where the models only ever 'shave' their shins #like at LEAST gimme a happy trail #anyway it was pretty good and the art was fucking scrumptious #that cg from ending A where they fuck in the shower after being freed? 10/10 best thighs i've seen in a vn #like obviously the guys are fit and all but they still look soft and not unnecessarily shredded #had to mute the background moans though because as it turns out there is such a thing as too much moaning
