“Carlos, you will never guess what happened today.” TK calls out as he steps inside the loft after an extended shift due to a radiation site, alien hunters, and finding out one of their team had another new family member. “You are never going to believe this.” As TK steps closer to the couch, he realizes that his boyfriend had fallen asleep waiting for him to get home. He runs his fingers through Carlos’ wild curls, loving the way they felt, even though it had no effect in waking the man up. He places a kiss on his forehead before trying “Carlos?” After a couple of seconds of nothing, he tried “Babe.” TK thought it was good that he had quick reflexes and was able to dodge the man as he jumped off the couch.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I’m really not feeling the new season of 911 lone star. I love Tarlos, it’s how I discovered the show in the first place. But now I feel like they putting everything they got into their storylines, and Owen’s, and the rest of the characters have to “fight” for a couple lines each episodes. Yes, we just got a Marjan centered ep, but it’s been 5 ep since the beginning of the season, and I don’t remember anything else she was doing besides rescuing people. Paul had a nice connection with the lady whose name I’ve forgotten, Nancy and Mateo are… here? We don’t know anything about their relationship, and I would love to see them the same way we saw Tarlos before, going to the market, having dinner… Judd and Grace are here and there, so is Tommy, which is amazing. I wish we could hear about Judd’s son, how he’s doing, just little things to show that he wasn’t just a storyline last season. Even Carlos had to wait 4 seasons to get 2 ep centered around him and he’s part of the main ship of the show. I know I’m not breaking any grounds here, people have been asking for more of him for years now.

I hope the rest of the season won’t be too wedding centered, because as fun as it will probably be, I want to know more about the rest of the 126. I want to see where they live, if they have other friends, what they do in their spare time. I’d love to see more of the 126 when their shifts are done. They are great characters, with so much potential! Why is it possible for the original 911 to give us a little of everyone and not for LS? (And no, I’m not asking a copy and paste. Both shows are different, with different characters.) Just, show us more dimensional characters. Because I feel like that’s what always been lacking from the show. Most of them feel like they’re just here to interact with the “popular kids” to give them more compelling storylines. But please, let them interact! Tommy telling Marjan to call her by her name showed us how little they talked in the 2+ years of the show. How is that possible? Give these characters some relations. Show us them being a team, not just during the 126 hangs but even at the firehouse! They don’t have to spend every day together, but it’s really hard to believe that they’re a family when half of them don’t interact.

Yes! It means SO MUCH to me when people comment, I feel like the least I can do is say thank you! Also, it always makes me happy when someone responds to my comments, so I try and give that magical feeling to others!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I Could Have Loved You- This is a SEAL Team fic that explored the six weeks in season 2 where Sonny and Lisa were together in before she would have left for her officer billet. In the end I had her leave even though both of them wanted to stay together. Honestly still prefer it to the shit show the show turned them into.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

It All Fades Away- I finally married Kensi and Deeks off on the beach because the damn show was taking too long. It was really beautiful! Also this is so old that it's only posted on ff.net lol.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not often, especially now that I'm on AO3. People used to be real mean over on ff.net.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

No. I like to let people have their privacy. I will write straight up to the line of smut though.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I have written exactly one 911 LS/The Rookie crossover for @bluenet13 and I only posted it on Tumblr. It involved the Reyes sisters is was generally hilarious.

Not that I know of. Please don't steal my things lol.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Someone asked me many years ago if they could translate one of my fics into German and I said yes. I saw it once, no idea where it's posted now.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I have a Ron/Hermione fic that spans the time from the end of DH to 19 Years Later and it's not done and it makes me sad because I really loved a lot of it.

DIALOGUE. I only have one, but I do think I'm pretty damn good at it. Okay maybe also character voice.

Scene description. I hate it.

First ever? Star Wars. First posted? Power Rangers. I've come a long way lolol.

Hi Rae! ☺️ This year, I'm looking forward to attending a friend's wedding. It's my first time going to a wedding that's not a relative's, so I'm a bit nervous. Also, the release of the Mad Max sequel! I watched the previous film in the theater eight times 😆, and above all, Season 5 of 911 LS!❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Rewatching 911 ls at the moment and questioning, why do we think the show cut all the spicier scenes in seasons 3 and 4? Do we think it was complaints from the conservatives or maybe Rafa and Ronen not being comfortable with them anymore?

I genuinely don't know the answer to this. There were sexual scenes in the first two seasons so I can't really imagine it was the network saying they didn't want more (although? Maybe it was, I don't know anything about how this works.) Ronen and Rafa have both said publicly, multiple times, and recently that they don't have any problem with those scenes and would happily do more. It's obviously possible they don't really feel that way and are just saying what they know we want to hear, but Ronen, if what he says is to be believed, has been begging for them. I don't have an answer. Maybe in season 5 Ronen will finally get the shower scene he was apparently been begging for. Prayer circle 🙏

Second, I remember that you're a fellow member of the Ian Gallagher defense squad so for Nice Ask Week I want to know; what was your favorite Ian story-line on Shameless (re:least sad) and what character from 911 LS would you plop down into Chicago with the Gallaghers?

Thank you so much! I discovered Jenny Holzer and that header image through my absolute favorite fic of all time, which was a Skam fic. I just love her art so much.

And oh yay, I love finding other members of the Ian Gallagher defense squad!

My favorite Ian storyline was absolutely Season 6. He definitely starts off the season Sad but it's a healing season for him and by the end, he's fully accepted and advocated himself, and come to terms with his diagnosis. His journey to becoming an EMT is the main part I love about Season 6 as well. It just fits so perfectly with his character and it was a great pivot from the army dream (which i hated but it was his dream so obvi i was sad for him when it didn't work out). I wish so much that Season 10 and 11 explored Ian's career aspects again, in the same way they do in Season 6. I would love for him to be an EMT again (and i think he could be even with his conviction!) but even if he couldn't be, I would have liked to see that exploration happen in light of the events that led him to jail.

(caveat that I also really do love seasons 4 and 5 because of ian's story there but those are for vastly different reasons).

As far as a crossover with Lone Star .... well Paul is from Chicago! i could totally see him coming across the Gallaghers at some point. Especially coming across Ian when he's hanging out with the firefighters all the time.

Speaking of crossovers, though: This fic is a cross over of Shameless and 911 OG and it's sooooo good. It highlights Ian's desires to be an EMT again AND it features Chim and Hen interacting with both Ian and Mickey and it's so funny.

Words and Sounds (we're falling together) Teen Wolf

This is an older fic, but I really enjoyed writing it and I can still see the library that I described. There's some things I'd do differently now, but I still enjoy this one.

2. Every Little Thing 911 LS

This is the first fic I wrote in the LS fandom. It was just a fun little thing inspired by a tumblr post. Feelings snuck in at the end, but it was fun to write and hopefully fun to read. It was a good practice at learning the characters before I tackled something bigger.

3. Green Eyes, Blue Skies 911 LS

My latest fic and pure indulgence. I started writing this long before the end of season 4 and then we got those pictures of Rafa with his shaved head and it was everything I never knew I needed. It fit so perfectly in this. I learned a lot writing this and trying to create tension with switching POVs and flashbacks. I wanted it to read like an actual episode and hopefully I captured that.

4. Silence and Gloom 911 LS

I started this before 4x04 aired and wanted to explore Carlos suffering PTSD because I knew the show would never touch it. The scene of Carlos and TK on the couch is one that stuck with me and sparked the idea.

5. Reaching for the Sun 911 LS

I debated putting this on here, but I'm pretty proud of myself for even posting it. This was truly the first thing I ever wrote in the fandom (on my notes app when it wouldn't leave me alone), but super hesitant to finish it and post it. It was my first time ever writing anything explicit, but I wanted to explore TK's feelings of worth and his love of Carlos.

I'm not Tim's biggest fan but it seems like you're basing your opinion off the 911s only.

911 and LS are the only shows where he's been a showrunner. They are, therefore, the only examples of him having both a decent amount of creative control AND the opportunity to write on the same level. So if I'm judging his abilities as a showrunner, that's what there is to work from.

But sure, if you really want to go there, I can say more.

First of all, most of his credits are not as a writer but as an editor (which, I'll give you a hint, is not the same as making up your own plots and developing them into real stories). For example, despite being credited for 20 episodes of the X-Files, he only actually wrote...two.

But yes, getting into his writing history in more detail:

He wrote for Angel and Firefly and Dollhouse, all of which were Joss Whedon shows, and Whedon has extremely tight creative control on the feel of his shows - the Firefly episodes had a very distinctive flavor and lingo and so you can be sure that Whedon was strict with the writers on characterization, etc. (Also, just speaking as a fan of BtVS, I never got into Angel on nearly the same level because, much like with LS, it was a spinoff where I felt the writing was bad, the plotlines were reductive, and the mediocre acting couldn't save it from boring me to tears).

He was an EP and writer for AHS, another Ryan Murphy show, when Ryan Murphy and his cohorts are well-known for ridiculous over-the-top melodrama, and none of them would know consistent characterization if it did a striptease in front of them. (Did you watch Glee? Because I watched Glee. Fucking yikes).

As for his other shows, many were cancelled before they moved to filming or there's also Drive which was cancelled four episodes in. For the seven other shows he's credited on, he was a guest writer for all of them and never wrote more than four episodes per season.

Tldr; in more than 30 years of his career, this man has been credited as an actual writer on somewhere in the ballpark of ~80 episodes of television (again, as noted in the op, many of which were not written solo) [if you want a point of comparison, Taylor Wong, for example, as another 911 writer, in just the 2021-2022 period was at minimum a staff writer on 13 episodes with full “written by” credit on 4, and she’s still getting started in her career]. About 1/5-1/4 of that is across 911 properties (18 episodes). And a not insignificant amount was in Whedon shows where he wouldn't have had creative control. So yes, I'm judging him on his work in the 911 universe, because it's the first time in that 30+ year career where he was given the power to do whatever he wanted. And, well, see my original post.
