Worst Video Game Song Tournament Masterpost
The tournament has begun! We are currently in round 4, and each poll will be open for a week. I will also be reblogging each poll 12 hours after it is posted so that people in different time zones are able to see them more easily. If you don't want to see these reblogs, block the tag #12th hour reblog. There will be a total of 8 polls in this round. 4 polls will be posted a day for a total of 2 days.
When you vote, I would recommend listening to as much as you can of each song before voting, but how you choose is up to you. Remember to be civil in the tags and replies! Some posts will have propaganda included with the songs, but feel free to add more propaganda in the tags and replies, or send it to me in the ask box and I'll try to share it as soon as I can!

Bella Brand: Bella's Secret Remix
Tumblr media
Published: 11-6-2023 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY “Inspired by the wealth of Bella Goth lore from the Sims/SimCity franchises (aka the “simsverse”), the Bella Brand Series includes more than a dozen sets and 230+ new business-themed items. Lore suggests that the wealth/influence of the Gilman, Crumplebottom, Bachelor, and Goth families increases considerably under Mortimer and Bella Goth, especially the latter. So, this series imagines what a prestigious Bella-based brand might look like…” Select items from the original Bella’s Secret set (HChangeri/WR/Retail Sims, 2006 via LiquidSims Archive) re-imagined – now with functional apparel! Sims can purchase hosiery in single, double, and seasonal (pretend this is a themed “multipack” of some sort) packages which can be used to add to their wardrobe or recycled for up to §100.
Tumblr media
DETAILS Requires ALL EPs/SPs. You need Mesh Set 001 (Simmons, 2023) and the Display Counter (BellasSecret_Counter_Somedaythesun) from the TS2 Maxis Match Lingerie Store Set (SomedayTheSun, 2023) – these items are required for all textures to display in-game. The counter uses recolors from the Bosenklavier Model B grand piano (Bon Voyage EP). Find recolors for the counter interior in the Bella Brand: Retail Floor Set (Simmons, 2023). Recolors may include swatches for items in other Bella brand sets such as signs, packages, cosmetics, etc. Objects in Sims 2 are limited to two recolorable parts, so not all items are recolorable in the same way. Find additional recolors for Bella Brand sets on this site under #ts2recolors, #co2recolors, and #co2bellabrand.

Functional Apparel Objects Apparel objects are debug items and show up as “clothing pile” in the catalog (Misc > Dressers). They must be placed on one of the DEBUG displays/shelves or they’ll float. Once purchased, take them out of the sim’s inventory and choose from one of the following: Purchase Clothing. Select an outfit (or several) of any type. Each apparel object is worth §100 towards the TOTAL cost. Sims save more money (and your businesses make more money) if they use one apparel object per new outfit. Sell. Recycle the object for §100 simoleons.  If you exit the Buy Clothing window without adding anything to your shopping cart, §100 will be added to the sim’s household funds instead. Apparel objects are worth §100 regardless of how much sims pay for them on OFB/community lots. Pricing an item below this amount can function like a discount sale (i.e., pay $75 in-store and §100 towards the purchase or a 25% “discount/rebate.” You can decide whether this counts as cheating). Pricing it above this amount is not recommended since sims will end up losing extra money. Debug objects have slots which “catch” fellow clones if you place them too close. To prevent this when trying to clutter them close together, turn “snap objects to grid” OFF and “move objects” OFF.

Reverse ship game?
Since we’ve been doing the ship game this week, someone asked who I thought I was best matched with, but since I would obviously be very biased, I thought I’d ask y’all!(I guess this also kinda counts as a little get to know me post, lol)
I’m a ‘94 liner, Scorpio x6(I know, yikes), Pisces moon, Cancer rising.
5'4" on a good day, plus sized, short black-blue dyed hair with an undercut, and large blue eyes(I also wear glasses)
I have ADHD, Anxiety and Depression.
I’m introverted, but I’m pretty friendly once I find something to talk about. I'm also very sarcastic and love making people laugh.
I’m obsessed with all styles of music(lowkey want to get into producing/remixing) and I love to sing. I enjoy reading, writing, cooking, baking, and crochet. I also really love animals and wanted to be a zoologist when I was younger.
I’m really into researching and studying the paranormal and folklore, as well as history, languages, different cultures, and art. I want to go back to school to study early childhood education, though I worry I wouldn’t be very good at it.
I’m kinda the parent/grandma friend and tend to take care of others, though I’m not the best at looking out for myself. I don't have the best self image, but we're trying to work on that.
I hate conflict, but I will fight to the death over the stupidest subjects like mint chocolate. I also really don’t like loud noises, darkness, passive aggression, or being cold.
I like sci fi/fantasy, romance, and mystery films and shows(I really love Ghibli films), as well as documentary type shows about science, travel, history, and nature.
My style is kinda boho/grunge, but I pretty much only wear oversized hoodies and sweaters, lol.
Idk what else to write really, lol! Let me know in the replies or asks what you think!💜

Sunday, February 18, 2024
I had so much fun today at the workshop. There were a few girls there that I knew from previous events and even from summer camp, but then I met a couple of new faces too. We practiced setting SMART goals for a long-term goal. Mine was getting into one of my top three picks for university. Then we set medium and short term goals to get the idea of how that works. We also learned about budgeting to meet our financial goals.
I have a savings account that my parents opened for me when I was very little. When I turned 13 last year, I was able to open a teen checking account, so I have access to a debit card now. The workshop was helpful in thinking about how to balance income and expenses in other ways than I had already learned. I think it will be immensely helpful when I'm old enough to have a job and have my license for a car. But an allowance of $14 a week does add up over time.
My parents also presented me today with a bible study for teen girls book. I wanted to get an idea of what it was like, so I did the day 1 reading today along with the reflection questions. I think from now on, I will do the reflection questions at the end of the week. There are 52 weeks in the book. The idea was that I also use that to supplement my Bible course for school. Technically I am supposed to be journaling about the readings, but it is really hard to think of what to write, so I don't do it. My parents thought that having something like this book, even if the readings won't be the same, would give me something to journal about so I'm meeting the credit requirements for the course. I think it is a good idea, and I like having prompts for reflection.
Tasks Completed:
Piano - Practiced for 2 hours in 1 hour split sessions
Duolingo - Studied for 15 minutes (Spanish, French, Chinese) + completed daily quests
Reading - Read pages 3-46 of My Dear Henry: A Jekyll & Hyde Remix by Kalynn Bayron
Chores - Put the dishes away + vacuumed my bedroom, the study, and the front room + swept and mopped the kitchen floor
Activities of the Day:
Church
Bible Study
Personal Bible Study (Isaiah 41) + reflection
Girl Scouts badge workshop (My Financial Power)
Journaling/Mindfulness
-
What I’m Grateful for Today:
I am grateful for the people I met today and the new Bible study book that my parents bought me.
Quote of the Day:
This story is for everyone who has ever wondered if you are enough, just as you are. The answer is yes.
-My Dear Henry: A Jekyll & Hyde Remix, Kalynn Bayron
🎧Moment musical, op. 94, no. 3 - Franz Schubert

Brony Music Tournament Ultimate Stats
In the final match, Discord (Remix) beat Rainbow Factory by a margin of 74.83% (296 to 880)
Tumblr media
Somewhat anti-climactically, this means the final round had the biggest average win margin, despite it trending downwards through previous rounds.
This was the #41 landslide of the entire tournament (out of 132 matchups), which is still closer than the median.
Speaking of all 132 matchups, here is a Google spreadsheet with every single match (even the April Fools matches) sorted by winning margin, for anyone interested in seeing all the data.
Some quick stats:
Round 1 contained both the biggest landslide (Discord Remix vs Discord's Puppet) and the closest two-way match (Earnest vs On Wings of Moonlight) of the entire tournament.
Both Semifinal matches were very close together, being numbers 94 and 98. The bigger Semifinal landslide was a smaller margin that the biggest landslide of any other real round, and the closer Semifinal had a bigger margin than the closest match of any other real round except for the finale.
The median match was My Rainbow Horse and Me vs Flutterwonder, with a margin of 65.82%. 66 matches had greater win margins, and 66 had smaller win margins. If you exclude the April Fools matches, it is still the median.
47 matches had a win margin of 50-60%, 34 had 60-70%, 30 had 70-80%, 16 had 80-90%, and only 6 had a win margin over 90%
Coming soon: My Little Pony Song tournament

[Review] Antonball Deluxe (NS)
Tumblr media
Wario meets Arkanoid meets Punch Ball Mario Bros.!
Having wrapped up my Wario Land fest, I picked this out of my backlog due to it taking some inspiration from the big goof. Summitsphere had previously published Annalynn, which models itself on arcade classics of the early 80s, and this likewise remixes ideas from retro games both popular and niche. Their next game is actually a direct Wario Land homage, but it's not out yet!
Antonball started as a pair of Game Boy homebrews made in just a few days: one a mashup of brick breaking platforming, and the other an expansion on Hudson's Punch Ball Mario Bros., which is itself a neat little remix of Mario Bros. but with a ball projectile. Antonball Deluxe fleshes both of these out, and adds a head-to-head brick-breaking Pong-esque multiplayer mode reminiscent of one of the faux-retro games in the underrated Game Center CX 3. All in all it's a nice package.
Tumblr media
The Wario inspiration comes in the design of the main character Anton and the general tone, as well as a shoulder-barge attack that can be used in mid-air. You can also do a high-jump that looks a bit like the backflip in Donkey Kong 94 (you see, this game is very citational!). In the primary game mode, you use your moves to platform around the single-screen stages in order to body block the bouncing ball and break all the bricks. Sometimes there are enemies or hazards to avoid, and powerups to claim. There are 30 stages but I wasn't able to finish them all, as it gets super hard and it's all too easy to let balls slip past you.
I had a better time with the Punch Ball mode, whose story focuses on Anton's coworker Annie. Annie was specifically added as an equal but feminine counterpart to Anton's Wario-like depravity and goblin charisma, something the Wario series itself has always lacked. There are actually a bunch of unlockable characters, by the way, that you can freely use in any mode including the Waluigi-esque Danton, versions of Anton in different art styles, Anton's dog and Annie's cat, guests from other indie games, and—my favourite—the punny "Ant on Ball". It's an ant on a ball.
Tumblr media
Punch Ball by its nature is less twitchy and more about carefully manoeuvring and stunning enemies with the ball so you can knock them out, with a variety of foes with different behaviours, some even interacting with the ball in interesting ways. Some clever level design gives you another 30 stages of fun in a quite different format, even though it uses the same movement engine and controls. The Switch version I played also comes bundled with what was DLC on PC, with two extra joke characters and level packs based on the original Game Boy homebrews.
Silly designs and jokey art permeate this collection, and the interstitial cutscenes add a lot of character to this wacky little world and its denizens. Full disclosure, the illustration and some cutscene art was done by my friend Cameron Reigle (hire him! commission him!), but even if I didn't know him I would be in love with the art in this game, from the goofy cutscenes to the moody backgrounds to the chunky pixel art. It's actually a shame for me that the sequel is going in a slightly different direction artistically, because the look of Antonball is so much fun (there's a grid filter on by default, but it looked better to me when I turned it off)!
Tumblr media
I'm impressed by how Antonball was able to hone in on specific mechanics from retro games and remix them in such fun ways. It comes together really well in this package, even if I think the progression in the Antonball mode could have been a bit more merciful. I couldn't engage much with Vs. mode on my own, but I have no complaints for Punch Ball mode, it's great. Actually speaking of multiplayer, both of the solo modes can be tackled in simultaneous co-op with up to four players, which is nice. What else can I say? Check it out!

Alter Ego vs. David Holmes - "The Evil Needle" Harthouse Retrospective Part 1 - 4 Song released in 1997. Compilation released in 1998. Techno
Plays: N/A on Spotify // 13k+ on YouTube
Really fun and bouncy, late 90s techno team-up here from the intermittent German-Northern Irish trio of Alter Ego and David Holmes, a collaboration that appears to have begun sometime around '94, when Holmes made a couple remixes for Alter Ego's Nude Restaurant 12-inch, which was released on the Frankfurt-based and Sven Väth co-owned Harthouse label. Alter Ego had just been fresh off the release of their attention-getting self-titled debut LP as Acid Jesus, and Holmes, who'd been a very eclectic DJ at that point—and was still a good bit away from becoming a top-shelf film and TV scorer too, (Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen, Analyze That, Killing Eve, and a whole lot more)—was just getting his beak wet with remixing, while having already been part of a trio called The Disco Evangelists, which had also consisted of a not-yet-legendary Ashley Beedle!
Then following Nude Restaurant, the relationship between Alter Ego and David Holmes proceeded to develop further. Holmes wasn't just being contacted for mere remix work anymore; the three of them committed to working on original tracks together. And out of that pact came a 12-inch on Harthouse in '95 called Patrick Kraut, and then their final release, The Evil Needle, in '97.
And this "Evil Needle" jam is really just such a steady, techno-grooving, chunky floor-stomper that any appropriate DJ can nestle into the middle of their own sets in order to serve as a stepping stone towards something more hype. This isn't made to perform as a life-altering centerpiece, but it has a role, and it can certainly handle it well if utilized correctly. A uniquely crafted backbeat with a stabbing, low, and rubber-ribbed groan that smacks of beloved and quirky Swiss electro-and-synthpop duo Yello opens things up immediately, and then gets a spring of hi-hats dumped upon it, followed by a manifestation of a metallic rattle whose prominence grows with every rhythmic repetition, while the arrangement of various other rhythmic cogs continue to subtly alter themselves behind it.
After this certified bop, though, Alter Ego and Holmes would go their separate ways and end up achieving a whole lot more for themselves, respectively. Alter Ego would attain top-40 UK status in 2004 with one of the year's biggest dance hits in "Rocker," and Holmes would ascend as a multifaceted musician and DJ who could also be relied upon to deliver a quality score for both film and TV.
This late 90s party techno gem from the three of them really does feel a bit slept on, though! Pairs well with another Harthouse techno classic too—Frank de Wulf's "Drums In a Grip" 👀.

hi erporo !! we don't interact but ur art is super sick and i love the random stuff u put on my page 🩷 i had a question abt ur music !! u put a lot of Pink Floyd on my page and i see some NIN too; i don't listen to much of either,, do u have any specific song recommendations ? i LOVE Echoes, If, and Summer '68 but those r abt the only ones i know. and as far as NIN goes im essentially clueless . thank u if u respond and thanks regardless for ur fun blog !
hi hi hi buggy,
tnx for the kind words!! <33
SO. song recs, huh.. i've already answered another que about pf (mostly) album (bcs ithink it's really better to listen to pf in albums, not some specific songs) recs like a week ago,
on a second thought tho, here are a few more that are worth listening to that i didn't add for god knows what reason:
Relics (contains the band's first singles like See Emily Play, Arnold Layne & cool songs like Julia Dream for example),
Ummagumma,
and Animals (Dogs is up there with Echoes and SOYCD to me). It's a hella political album (bcs of Rog & his opinions) tho
there's some more ofc like The Early Years, The Later Years & stuff, but they're there if u've listened to the main catalog & u want more, yk?
there's also this post i agree with for the most part.
i can get a bit more specific if u want tho, just lmk. keep in mind it's (obviously) gonna get real lengthy real quick tho-
as for nin... WELL
here's some, again, mostly album recs because, just like with pf- i think it's really better to listen to dis band in albums, in context, not some specific songs:
the entirety of Pretty Hate Machine, nin's debut album. ive listened to it like, yesterday for the 5th time or something- it's so gud
if u like some metal stuff, Broken EP is awesome,
Fixed (an entire album of remixes of Broken's songs) also has some goodies, like the remix of Happiness in Slavery (this song's been SUCH A MOOD for at least 3 yrs by now) & Fist Fuck <3
the entirety of The Downward Spiral of COURSE,
The Fragile's also hella good- one of my fav albums of theirs actually,
but u ain't gonna lose much if u don't listen to. all of em- like u can leave out the songs like Please, No, You Don't & u will be gud
If u wanna listen to some p cool outtakes (like, there's one that legit sounds like smth out of Shadow the Hedgehog LMAO) and instrumentals of the album then feel free to check out The Fragile: Deviations
the entirety of With Teeth, ithink??
see, im not sure about the entirety part bcs i always omit Getting Smaller & im. cool
Year Zero's also got some goodies: Survivalism; The Good Soldier; Me, I'm Not; Capital G; God Given; The Great Destroyer...
Hesitation Marks is. i think my second fav of theirs. can't recommend it enough.
like the first 10 songs of the albums r just. the best of the best: Came Back Haunted, Copy of A, All Time Low, Everything, Satellite, stuff like that.
In Two & While I'm Still Here r also p good afair
Honorable mentions:
She's Gone Away : a song that was featured in one of the eps of Twin Peaks (!!), & yep- its hella gud,
At The Heart of It All,
The Beauty of Being Numb,
Underneath the Skin : just a cool remix, v train-like if that makes sense LMAO,
This Isn't The Place : a song by Trent, dedicated to a huge influential figure of his back in the 90s - David Bowie. (for VERY obvious reasons too, as u can see),
Needless to say, their cover of Hurt makes me cry buckets every time i swear,
The Perfect Drug,
Trent's amazing cover of Queen's song Get Down Make Love,
God Break Down The Door,
MAGNIFICENT covers of various artists' songs (Joy Division, Iggy Pop, The Normal) & each other's songs (like Sanity Assassin, Head Like a Hole, Reptile, Bela Lugosi's Dead, etc) by Trent and Bauhaus' Peter Murphy from 2006,
NIN at Woodstock '94 <- Powerful shit.
& dat's it. hope u enjoy em!!
wouldn't be surprised if u didn't tho- pf's music's def not for everyone & Trent's music is mostly for. goths yk
