You wanna know what I, an AI positive person, think is the ACTUAL issue with AI?
People are so gullible. No. Seriously. People can be so unbelievably gullible and AI makes it really easy to see who is that gullible.
An AI video is currently moving around, especially on TikTok, of a "Britain's Got Talent" elderly couple that transform into a lion and a wolf.
There are people, fighting tooth and nail in the comment section, SWEARING it's real because there are, apparently, real shapeshifters in the East, like in Taiwan. The video itself states that it is AI-generated, and yet there are people who unironically think it's real.
The problem isn't AI, the problem is that people are fucking stupid.
#ai#ai generated content#i am not commenting on the “realness” of shapeshifting in taiwan#i am saying that the video saying it's ai is ai#not that hard to comprehend

keep shaming people. shame them for voting right wing. shame them for using AI. shame them for having no empathy or female friends or not wrapping their own christmas gifts. make them feel embarrassed for doing things that make our world a worse place.

I knew this would happen.
Not to be "haha, I predicted this." But I seriously saw this coming months ago when word got out that people were feeding and training the AI to create it's own content.
It was only a matter of time before we see this roll over into the psychic business.
I was scrolling through https://veda.astrology.com/ when I decided to look up their "psychic readings."
When, Lo' and Behold, I see that they promote "AI Psychics" and make no secret of it. I guess at least they're upfront? for the most part?
This is concerning to me. Being a professional psychic, myself, I am always reading a lot of self-help articles and promoting self-care practices and wellbeing. The majority of my clients come to me because they're desperate and hopeless and I offer empathy and life advice to help get them into a better situation or at least a different mindset. I push for personal responsibility and ways to help make changes to help get them to a better outcome. Mainly I'm a shoulder to cry on, which, is what a lot of people need most of the time.
I also promote therapy/counseling... But a lot of folks can't afford that. Or it's still stigmatized in some parts of the world. I live in the Bible Belt and mental help is hard to come by. So, by offering some spiritual help, it's at least providing some kind of good in the world.
And, like, I get it. I know there are tarot apps, (Hell, I've used them too!) and that's all fine and dandy for a quick overview, but it doesn't replace the very human aspect of going to a psychic. To hear someone say, "I can see you're in a lot of pain. Let's see what's on the path for you." and providing guidance to help is the best thing you can do. Or just be a listening ear. People, just need to be heard.
But Apps are tools. Chatgpt is a Tool essentially. It can help you write up your resume and a cover letter or help with coding, and that's Fine! These are tools to be used!
But using it to solely replace the heart of what I/we do... that's sick.
I'm sure this is just a "ME" problem. But it seriously irks me to see this. I worry that somebody in a low point is looking for a human to talk to and discovering that it's a program.

I had a nightmare that one of my favourite artists, Weird Al Yankovic, was in a music video that involved ai generated content.
I just wanted to get this out because AI images for me have become a headache, to the point of turning into a nightmare.

I don’t like AI generated fics. Even if it hit every trope I like, and it was impeccably perfect, I don’t think I could actually like it. Because it’s exactly that; perfect.
The grammar is completely correct, the words used are perfect for the situation, and there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s missing all of the humanity that I find comforting in fics.
It’s completely lacking the humanity, and it’s only the story, but the humanity is what brings the story to life.
It’s impossible for it to be a good story without the small mistakes, or the simple words, or the imperfect grammar.
It’s really eerie, also. Idk its just kinda creepy. Like if there was uncanny valley affect for writing.

In my opinion, if a university ever falsely expels, marks down, fails, or otherwise punishes a student because an automated plagiarism detector claims they plagiarizes/their style matches an AI-written piece of content, that university should be legally required to cover any and all of that person’s living expensives until the day they die. 🤷

K, lemme make this clear.
I have no issue with people using AI generators in order to just mess around, have fun, and create something for themselves to enjoy. I also have no issue with people using AI as an inspirational tool whatsoever.
However, what I do have a problem with is when people label the generated content art (which it isn't. It's content, sure, but content created from an algorithmic processing of data rather than actual creativity of a living being), try to make money off of it, get mad at people reposting "their" AI generated image (going as far as attempting DMCA takedowns, which legally doesn't make sense since AI generated content cannot be copyrighted due to not being created by a human being), stealing / using artwork without consent in order to "train" an AI (I prefer the terminology "to feed it with data"), and probably worst of all, shit on people who actually put in the time and effort to draw an image (especially if said artists use protection mechanisms like Glaze in order to protect their artwork from being appropriated by AI).
There is so much work that goes into a single piece of artwork, and yes, programming is also work - however, most of these AI Bros seemingly do not program. How do I know that? Well, it's because a lot of them do not seem to understand how the technology they're promoting let alone basic programming works. Probably the best comment to illustrate this that I've read was "we don't need human artists anymore, we have enough AI generated content to train the AIs on" (paraphrased). Which is laughable, because if you actually did that, you'd create a feedback loop that over time results in AIs only ever being able to create a single image (if taken to the extreme).
Seriously, the entire "programming is just as hard as being creative, these artists are SO elitist and gatekeepers" makes me go 🙄 All these people do is stealing human-made content to feed an AI of their choice with it, come up with a prompt (easy, do you know how many ideas I have in a single day??? Too many to let all of them come to life!) and wait for a preprogrammed algorithm to render an image or create a text.
Again, this is nothing against people who just use AI to mess around, experiment, have fun, get inspired, quickly create some wholesome pics to look at, and so on - especially if those people (when they decide to post the AI generated content) disclose this properly. Like with everything, there are legitimate uses to AI that should not be hated on just for playing with AI. Yes, most existing generative AIs were trained unethically, however, the unethical training has already happened. I think what's more important than to hate on people who are really just trying to have fun while not hurting anyone is to prevent it from happening again in the present and future, and to separate them from the AI bros who clearly have way too large egos.
Thanks for reading my unpopular opinion on AI generated content.

cant believe this has to be said but when it comes to ai-generated content there are no exceptions. if you're against ai art for example you should be against ai writing and ai voiceover software for the same reasons. no exceptions for ai character chatbots or funny spongebob song covers, they all deserve equal scrutiny.
people's hard work, time and voices being leeched by ai applies to ALL forms of ai that use it. it is not your place to decide that some are okay because they're funny, easy to produce or entertaining when it comes at the cost of ai companies further profiting off actual human talent
#SO many people on tiktok say bullshit like “im against ai but ___ is the exception”#partial support/compliancy is still support#ai art#ai is theft#ai generated content
