do you ever think about how funny it would be if my blog got deleted and not only would I be erased but any traces of my existence would lack the full context due to how much crap is left in the tags
#wordstag#HI back from my self discovery arc#not much to discover there. Wouldn't recommend#sorta just got to thinking#and thinking some more#then decided I should stop#ALSO like. had a Productive Moment#and ummmm did art fight stuff. No way.#ANYWAYS post umm#yeah like. I suppose it's not like. Ripping pages out of a book. But#I think it would be more comparable to just. Removing little details#sure it's FINE without tags just a nice and dandy little post but you strip away like the thoughts or whatever#like if all the tags disappear from this post you would never hear about. All this. That would be funny#ANYWAYS ART FIGHT!!!!!!! THATS HAPPENING!!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?#everyone I know is going on vampire so. I'm going to be the change I want to see in the world.#ALSO UMM???? BOTH OF THOSE GUYS LIKE. IMPACTED ME A LOT.#I had a really. What. Quiet?? Vampire/werewolf phase#like if you asked anyone who knows me currently they could probably tell you absolutely nothing about it but mmmmm it existed#I looked REALLY hard for vampire stuff in particular. All about that bloodsucking and crap.#I HAD UMM. A VAMPIRE WOLF HYBIRD OC.#I am still deeply upset about her lazy writing.#maybe I'll ummm.. make her a ref for art fight#I love her to bits actually. She's such a stereotypical dark sad grrr half vampire half wolf always wearing a mask character#and she's absolutely everything actually!!! She's even bisexual for some freaking reason I actually am not sure why#I don't know why she was bisexual. Not even I had came to terms with my sexuality at that point. (SECRET!!! I STILL HAVEN'T)#there was um. This one roleplay in particular that I did with her that I still think about to this day as literally like. The worst#thing ever.#WHO the hell was writing that crap?!?!?!?!? (me)

i played the remastered alan wake a while back and am replaying the original on steam, and, honestly, they’re so similar, I couldn’t tell which is which if you held up comparisons. ive come across reviews about the game looking outdated and bad (mostly compared to other releases in that time), but the original looks great and I like the hazy dark lighting for both this and awan
#might delete#I can’t wait to run into all the product placements#like yeah I know it’s not. top graphics of that year. but I’ve stopped and looked at the environment So many times. it’s pretty!#this is because im biased but I *loved* AWANs choice of scenery. although I wish it was as detailed and expansive as the original games#all of remedy’s games do pretty great in terms of the environment. ignore controls terrible map and the Oldest House is an incredible space#to navigate just by following signs and all the little details. the atmosphere!#don’t even need to explain how aw2 is good with that#but even Max Payne 1 has this beautiful eerie quality where everything is this fever dream of grungy or old environments#even before the literal nightmare sequence it felt like navigating a dream of this Not New York City. like of course it’s likely born from#the limitations the developers had when making it. but the emptiness and placement of npcs added to the experience#QB so far is my least favorite in its style and environment but it’s still had some good moments. the use of flashbacks + time overlapping#onto abandoned and destroyed environments was genius. the college campus itself and the train(?) cargo(?) area was neat to go through#there’s some really good stuff there! *im also. not done with QB so im still hoping things get more wild!!#im honestly more forgiving of QB as a whole and find it interesting since it went through a lot of hell in its development#this might seem negative but it’s not! it’s a shockingly beautiful game. graphics exceed expectations#the style and some locations is where it’s more boring for me. but still good. im so tempted to buy it on steam to finally finish it#endless apologies if u opened this and ur entire page opened up an essays worth of tags

friend and i have fought our way kicking and screaming almost to the end of s8... only 3 eps to go... we are stronger than the marines
we were rewarded with the curious case of bartholomew allen which is one of the 2-3 good eps of s8. it's the one where barry gets whammied with an "old" gun that ages him into an old man (sadly only on the inside bc the cw are cowards, though they do give him a lil salt and pepper in his hair as a treat)
he spends the episode hobbling around, suffering with arthritis (grant does some very good physical acting cos i could FEEL how stiff this man was) and the ep starts off playing it for laughs like haha he's an old man now!! but then slowly descends into top-tier angst as barry starts to lose his powers and experiences memory issues that culminate in cecile finding him wandering helplessly around the star labs corridors looking lost because he has no idea where he is. he's stiff and tired and his hands won't stop shaking. and he's scared and iris is still missing and he's afraid that he won't be able to remember her and he'll never see her again and it's soooo good. the resolution is a bit wonky but everything that leads up to it is so fantastic that i'll forgive it
and also barry finds out that caitlin is holed up in her apartment in her very own mad scientist lab attempting to resurrect frost by splicing bits of her own DNA with hair she obtained by digging up frost's corpse, so he destroys the lab in a lightning storm and then flees, leaving her cowering alone in the shattered remains of her fucked up death experiment
also they all play D&D and joe has a fight with a roomba

i keep seeing people criticising tv shows and movies by being like "i thought x character was bad but im NOT BLAMING the actor i think the actor is GREAT and WONDERFUL i blame the WRITERS and DIRECTORS"
usually this is directed at female characters and characters of colour and like while i understand the impulse to not dunk on actors and actresses who are more likely to be receiving really shitty hate comments just for existing i do think a) the attacks on writers and directors are also really mean and personal sometimes? and also b) this feels incredibly performative

long post under the cut of me rambling about my current show
i have my last performance for RoA in a few hours, which honestly breaks my heart. it’s not as though i’m particularly attached to the musical itself, but the cast and the meaning behind our production has made this one of the best opportunities of my life.
i don’t want to say the name of this program because i’m afraid it might dox me, but the purpose behind it is to allow young people with developmental disabilities to perform, and it’s been such a delight seeing even the most reserved cast members come out of their shells on-stage. there have been some rough days this summer, trying to tie everything together (and by that, i mean really rough), but these past few days i’ve felt so at peace with my life. theater is my biggest passion, and getting to share it with such amazing people is. i’m going to start crying if i write any more lol
i’m just so lucky to have been in both this show and oliver in just one summer. both of them have no doubt been formative experiences in my life, but rock of ages in particular has transformed the way i interact with people, boosted my self confidence, and really made me fall in love with performing for the sake of it, instead of trying to prove myself all the time. i still struggle with feeling like i need to get these huge roles to be worth anything as a person, let alone an actor, but i’m beginning to realize that theater is such a powerful force, and no matter what i’m doing for the show, just being a part of it is enough.
i used to roll my eyes when directors would say “there’s no small parts, only small actors”, and i still would today, just because the phrase is so cliche at this point. but the sentiment behind it is one i agree with. i mean, there definitely are small parts, but making the most of your limited stage time, or your few lines of solo music is important. and being a good castmate, and in this case, mentor, is even more so.
not to mention the youth edition (who even decided a youth edition of rock of ages was a good idea) is comedy gold i don’t even care. there are so many funny lines, and because the audience is a lot of older people who were actually teens/adults in the ‘80s, their reactions are always on point. also, the boy who plays franz uses a wheelchair which allowed us to add in the best visual gag of him trying to defiantly storm away from his mom only to keep rolling over the traffic cones blocking off the road. it’s beautiful. the drew and sherrie romance is also the most adorable thing i have ever witnessed. drew is just this awkwardly earnest guy and paired with sherrie’s enthusiasm it’s so cute. i love the part where they meet in sister christian and it’s like “my names wolfgang von colt!” “sorry???” “…or drew :(“.
also i learned how to be a sighted guide so that’s pretty awesome

Hi! As someone who now kinda wants to check out Trigun because of the hype, do you recommend that I can start with Stampede? Or do I really need to watch the OG anime first to better understand/enjoy it? Thank you! 🙋🏻‍♀️
you can start with stampede! i'd say knowing the context of the original enhances the experience but isn't necessary to enjoy the show. I would consider stampede more viewer-friendly, especially for those of us who are used to modern storytelling conventions (the original suffers the consequences of general writing trends in anime at the time it was produced and of the fact that it was produced long before the manga was finished, so the story is somewhat disjointed and has a lot of filler which makes it REALLY hard to get into.) if you do end up liking stampede, however, I'd suggest trying out watching at least SOME of the original because it adds a lot of cool nuance and context to the story that stampede tells!
#your only REAL handicap is that you're missing out on references that clue you into the context of the story early on#and quite a few references in the finale. but none of those references are hugely necessary to understand the plot so you should be fine!#i didn't DISLIKE the origial and like i said im glad i watched it first but it was. REALLY hard to get into.#even as someone who understands writing trends & enjoys a lot of older anime trigun is. a product of its time.#there's almost no context given for the story you're witnessing until a good 20 episodes in.#the main villain isn't named at all until halfway through the runtime#and even TWO EPISODES BEFORE THE FINALE i still did not have enough information to fully understand what the hell was going on#vash was going into the final fucking battle and i still didn't know what knives WAS let alone what the fuck he WANTED#not to mention nick was FULLY DEAD and i still didnt know what his deal was. like ok go off king have ur moment bleeding out in the church#but can you EXPLAIN WHATS GOING ON BEFORE YOU SUCCUMB TO THE BLOOD LOSS PLEASEEEEEEEE GOD#stampede does that whole thing WAY better imo. it sprinkles the backstory more naturally throughout the show#again. part of this is 90s writing conventions. but there's only so much i can take fr#it was like comparable to evangelion in terms of LACK OF CONTEXT#anyways. this isnt supposed to be me complaining about the original. it had its moments. i watched 24 episodes of it like it was not BAD#but like. i think the story really benefits from the way that stampede chooses to lay everything out. is what im saying.#tldr watch them in whatever order but if you like stampede try the original#you might not like it more than stampede but you WILL feel cool when you realize how it all relates to stampede#asks#vash is also WAAAAAY sexier in stampede. HOWEVER. the women of the show are like 10 times sexier in the original. so. pick your poison ig

Poll adventure (paventure? lol) Day 16: read the small story tidbit below the poll for more details, OR just vote based on initial impression
(✦ see past poll results + further information HERE (link) ✦)
Yesterday's poll decided that The Adventurer should offer to help the travelers with their broken wagon.....
~
After much internal deliberation (and some zoning out staring at butterflies), The Adventurer decides it would be best to offer his assistance. Technically, he IS still following his goal of not getting distracted, because theoretically it would make his journey much faster if he were able to catch a ride on a carriage. So really, this is all an ultimate big brain genius strategy for maximizing efficient travel.. Or, at least that sounds like a good enough justification to him.
Gathering up all of his social courage, he approaches one of the travelers fiddling with a broken wheel near the far end of the carriage and meekly asks if there's anything he could do to help.
The man was so focused on his task, he seems initially startled to look up and find someone near him. "OH..! Oh, uhh.. help? With the wagon?", he smiles pleasantly, gesturing towards a few wooden boards that are just out of his reach, "Sure, kid. If you could just hand me th-"
"Apologies, but we actually won't be needing your assistance, stranger." A taller man, surprisingly almost matching the stature of the Adventurer, suddenly slinks out from somewhere behind the carriage, sternly placing himself like a barrier in front of the man working on the wheel. Wheel Guy nervously averts his eyes, making himself smaller, silently resuming his work.
The Adventurer tries his best to maintain composure against the weight of the tall man's bitter gaze, but can't seem to muster much of a response "Aeughh,,, uh… b-but, h- Bu--HHHh,,?.."
"Look, disregard whatever my father told you, he's old, never has any clue what he's talking about. It'd be best for you to simply move along." ('Father'? They don't look alike at all, and seem to be nearly the same age..)
"W-well.. he.. he didn't really tell me anything, I me-hhH,,.. I mean, I literally just got here, s-so...."
"Good. Even more reason to be on your way."
Placing a gloved hand firmly on his shoulder, the tall man begins to motion the Adventurer away from the wagon, but a strange noise interrupts, echoing from inside. Perhaps some sort of animal sound? Or a person faintly yelling about something? Or… both?
"WH-wHggg… whAT was t-that???!!" The Adventurer immediately stops in place, pausing to listen as the tall man keeps trying to push him ahead.
"I didn't hear anything, stranger."
"No, t-there.. was dEFinitely, UHH, a-"
"Likely something in the forest."
"Wh--aah... d.. do you think it was an animal?"
The tall man continues a dramatic struggle to 'subtly' drag him further down the road, whilst the Adventurer mindlessly digs in his heels, too distracted to even notice he's being so strongly prompted to leave.
"Many animals do, indeed, exist within forests. This should not be suprising."
"...It's just.. ..eughh… s… so weird…"
"I assure you, it is not."
"I-it really sounded like.. like it came f-from insid-"
"Yes, from inside the forest. Now, please, if you would.."
The noise interrupts again. It's definitely someone, or something, in some sort of distress.. And definitely from inside of the cart.
"wHoAAGH, aa!!! T-tHat's NOT from the f-forest, that-"
The tall man fully just shoves him now, sending the Adventurer toppling across the dirt, clumsily rolling and landing just past the other side of the carriage. A mother and young child who seem to be part of the traveling group simply stare down at him with empty blank gazes, wholly unconcerned about helping him up.
As the Adventurer fumbles back to his feet (still confused as to why he was even pushed in the first place), the tall man looms by the carriage, diligently watching to ensure that he leaves.
"Travel safe, stranger."
Despite his initial obliviousness, the Adventurer begins to piece the situation together as he stares back at the man, now fully convinced something suspicious might be going on...
…What should he do next??

Additional Information
the adventurer's current main quest: follow his map to reach the abandoned castle ruins and see the rare animal specialist about the mysterious egg he has
#paventure posting#poll#polls#choose your own adventure#ERM.. ... hee hee... yes.. alas.. it has been like two months since the last one lol#IT'S SUMMER!!!! how can anyone function in the summer..? It's literally 83F in my room indoors right now at this moment at NIGHT#I'm about to go to sleep.. who can sleep in an 80+ degree room comfortably?? ghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh#Really no hope of productivity at all from like June - September basically... EVIL.. and also the spring this year had some heat waves so#AUGhh... my nemesis the Summer.. Or moreso capitalism is my nemesis for worsening climate change and also keeping people in such#economic inequality that cheap apartments with terrible ventilation get made and people cant afford air conditioners and etc. etc.#but ALSO... the summer... grrrr.. 'Heat' you will never be famous.. you will always be lame nasty and so forth..#ANYWAY.. also sorry this is another blurb that's longer. The text is always longer when there's actually spoken interactions lol#I know I'm not very good at this style of writing (especially when rushing with these) so I always feel kind of awkward having really long#sections people will have to slog through or etc ghbjhjh but.. I don't really know how it make it shorter. the interaction#is just the interaction. certain things must be said and conveyed. peace and love on planet orth.#Ough it's been so long I almost forgot to draw his injuries lol.. in-world it's only been what like.. a day? since he got into a fight with#that mysterious cloaked person who was tracking him to steal the egg. I also always just forget how to draw him in between breaks#hopefully his hair and stuff doesn't look too different. They're meant to be really quick sketches anyway but still.. you at least want him#to be recognizable lol#ANYWAY.. another update from the Son.. what is he up to on his little traveles...

Fat Man on a Beach (HTV, 1974)
"I'm going to read some more poems now. Erm. It may be that if you want to go and have a cup of tea, this would be a good time. I know that's what you masses are like. The mention of poetry and off you go."
#fat man on a beach#b.s. johnson#classic tv#documentary#htv#michael bakewell#aled vaughan#a frankly incredible and truly unique piece of television. according to Johnson's biographer‚ the novelist Jonathan Coe‚ this film was#described in tv listings at the time as a documentary about Porth Ceiriad‚ a rather beautiful beach on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales#it.. is not that. i can only imagine the baffled reactions of an idle audience tuning into HTV in 1974. true‚ this is entirely filmed at#Porth Ceiriad‚ but any element of travelogue (or even really of documentary) is dispelled almost immediately: the first lines heard are#those of an unseen narrator who tells us we are about to watch a film about a fat man on a beach. 'Do you really want to watch that?' he#asks incredulously. it's a challenge‚ the first of several from Johnson‚ who spends the next 40 minutes variously pottering about the sands#mugging to the camera‚ reciting poetry (his own and others; literary and dirty) and baring his soul. I've never seen anything quite like it#I'm not sure that much has been made that is quite like it tbh. Johnson was a fiercely original‚ brilliant mind; he was a novelist#a poet‚ a critic and a filmmaker. he was also‚ when this first aired on uk tv‚ dead. a few weeks after completing filming on this‚ his#final work‚ he sadly took his own life. i mention it not as a grim factoid but because it is a vital contextualisation of this film; the#play has been described before (and play is not the right word) as a sort of loose form manifesto from Johnson‚ a laying out of his own#peculiar philosophies and interests in a disjointed manner‚ peppered with asides and distractions and filming mishaps (all kept in the#final product). for me‚ the feeling was inescapable that this was like viewing a suicide note. whether Johnson had already come to some#conclusion on that front or not‚ the fact is that his own obsession with morbidity‚ with the spectre of death and of decay (it runs right#through his work‚ particularly his work in film) transforms this into something almost confessional. there's a section of the film where#the author recalls witnessing the aftermath of a traffic accident‚ a motorcyclist thrown through wire fencing and sliced like cheese#the absurdity of the comparison is lingered on‚ Johnson almost stalls and appears to lose his train of thought (briefly discussing instead#the modern mass production of cheese) but he also seems clearly affected‚ delivering the tale in a halting‚ reverent tone#not that this is all darkness and gloom; it's just as often funny‚ or surreal (the film frequently cuts away to a bunch of bananas‚ only#later explained by one of Johnson's biographical recollections) and includes visual puns‚ bad jokes and a few moments of physical comedy#the writer doesn't seem distressed. rather‚ he seems... if not at peace‚ then as though he has come to terms. confident in his own beliefs#and ideals. but perhaps that's reaching too far‚ or reading in what the viewer wishes to read in. the sad fact is that Johnson took his own#life‚ but he left us with a body of work unlike almost anything else‚ and which is still being celebrated and analysed today. rip bsj

i don’t think an album has ever captured the adolescent experience as well as lorde did with pure heroine in 2013. that album is the most authentic, gut wrenchingly accurate depiction of teenagehood i’ve ever been able to hear, and now that i’m at the age when i can experience everything she was conveying to it’s fullest extent i can’t help but feel jealous of those who got to experience all this when she came out with it a decade ago

im not excited for pokemon z because i have zero faith in gamefreak, as we all should at this point, but i do hope it is good. i do hope it’s another chance for kalos to really wow people. i remember getting Y back when it came out, and it was. Fine. the most Fine pokemon game i’ve ever played, then and now. it had the unfortunate fate of being a follow up to black/white 2 (some of the best pokemon games ever made) and being the mainline transition to 3D (something they’re still struggling with tbh.) they suffer a lot from those growing pains, a lot of x/y feels underdeveloped or bland. but i really hope this game gives the region new life because all the pieces were there.
