eggman is around 100 years old and has been butting heads with gun for control of angel island the entire time

angel island is 1 main island (master emerald) and 7 smaller islands (1 chaos emerald each), GUN hid a chaos emerald on each island to keep them from being easily discoverable and to use their power to maintain the barrier, originally built by gerald as a safety feature

GUN has total control of 3 of the islands, they are more cyberpunk in terms of infrastructure, the further islands are called The Wilds, where mobians inhabit the old buildings from the flood. sonic fights to keep gun from expanding their reach further

Ghost, the head of gun, is an ancient vampire and one of the first Mobian vampires. scourned by what the mutations did to them, they want to kill the vampires of angel island to have their own peaceful domain far away from the surface world

shadow behaves differently depending on how close he is to GUN territory, before Ghost had lost shadow, his mind was altered to better fit Ghosts mission. he was meant to be used as a weapon to hunt and kill vampires, the closer he is to the city, the stronger Ghosts mind control over him is. though ghost isnt aware shadow is awake and running around yet, the mind control is a passive state shadow is in and doesnt realize. he only has a stronger drive to kill near the city.

first arc was meant to just be generally kinda silly, it wasnt meant to be super serious- hoax and shadow make their blood deal in order to get hoax to stop stealing shadows blood bags knukcles, defensive on shadows behalf, clocks hoax so hard he turns back into sonic, thus being the first person to learn about hoax being sonic (outside of amy and tails, who helped come up with hoax)

knuckles learns about the master emerald buried under his fucking pizza store. what the hell. and starts learning about his past as the last echidna from tikal, whos been haunting the pizza place until she was able to get knuckles attention

amy really wants to prove her devotion to sonic by making him a Light ring, a ring with magic infused strong enough to fully protect him from the sun. she is not a powerful enough witch to do it so she starts researching

tails is a shithead and cosmo tries to teach him about friendship

sonic starts learning about chaos emeralds while dealing with eggman etc etc

one of eggmans plots was to mess with the moon pull during a blood moon, driving up bloodlust in vampires and starting chaos

rouge discovers sol and introduces mephiles and silver etc

eggman has a blood mining operation in sol (bc the planet is a living creature)

amy starts getting real desperate bc she keep failing to make the ring, she starts checking out dark magic due to her own shortcomings, being suggested by eggman who is interested in the ring himself. she finds sol alongside sonic and starts researching more magic with blaze and other castle scholars. an attempt at dark magic goes wrong with blaze, the queen of sol. amy is exiled and back to square one, now even more desperate, she keeps trying with dark magic. unknowingly, poisoning her own magic and corrupting the gemstone embedded in sonics staff

shadow starts getting a teeny tiny bit comfortable with hoax, and also is informed about the master emerald by knuckles. tikal remembers him and he starts to realize something isnt quite right in his memories. time for a series of unfortunate events

he delivers pizza to the eggman himself, who talks remorse about what he put shadow through, but angles it in a way to spark further hatred for sonic in shadow, stating sonic influence is what made him have regrets

amys dark magic usage starts corrupting hoax himself, because he is a product of amys magic. the darkness slowly chews away at his mind, and if they dont fix him, sonic will become a mindless servant of dark gaia forever. this is the shadow hoax reveal. It takes all of the friends & shadow to be able to fight and wrangle hoax, once the gemstone is smashed, shadow gets to see hoaxs true form, sonic. shadow tries to KILL HIS ASS

mephiles, the shape shifter, has taken interest in shadow and his determined to make his life more miserable by shifting into rouge and biting him, exposing to shadow rouge has been hiding being a vampire from him the entire time theyve known each other shadow fucking snaps and fucks off to go work for GUN, all vampires are the same lying conniving bastards, and he wants to kill them very dead

shadow captures sonic and he gets held in the central GUN base. sonic finds out Ghost has been not only killing vampires, but draining their lifeforce to keep themselves alive bc theyre old as shit. rouge is also exposed as a vampire (the chaotix supervisor) and gets held in a cell as well. the chaotix think this whole thing is fucked up actually and bust their queen outta there. knuckles and Co come to save sonic, shadow and knuckles have a stand off about both being the protectors of the island and how their friendship has gone out the window if knuckles chooses sonic. Knuckles escapes with sonic

The realizations DO NOT STOP COMING. BOOM. GUN DOCUMENTS. maria was a vampire womp womp. gun killed her for it. Shadow is horrified and the memories start flooding back. Ghost doesnt like this. Get in the Suit Boy. we are gonna kill these heathens <3 ! mephiles takes control of shadows body but no one is aware bc hes inside the fnaf suit. terrible day for him mephiles is gonna use the eclispe canon to drill to the earths core and reunite with iblis ! the only reason he was in sol in the first place was bc he thought blaze was the iblis trigger

everyone is OBVIOUSLY trying to stop this including eggman what the hell shadow this isnt worth it what the fuck

no more angel island barrier, sonic has left to pursue eggman on the surface since hes up to no good, leaving the protection of angel island to knuckles. amy has also left for the surface to spend time on her own and try to learn magic for herself

shadow , barely alive, is fighting his way tooth and nail from the core of the earth.

a year of time passes and during that year- sonic gets up to little adventures, shadow learns to live life on the surface knowing all of the truths about himself now. they both realize they kinda had a crush on the other guy.... damn thats unfortunate.

Ghost no longer has the chaos emeralds but has Created the phantom ruby as a replacement, and has raised infinite from the dead to be its bearer. they create a fake Sh4dow. infinite gets to live out his tormenting shadows life fanfic for fucking killing him !! smh . infinte also uses Sh4dow to infiltrate Sol, Ghost has just discovered the pocket dimension on Their island and wants it gone. This is Shadows sol apartment btw. the fake bought it and he just. took it.

things are gradually getting worse on angel island and both sonic and shadow return. shadow is informed of the fake and teams up with rouge and knuckles to get rid of it flower ball happens around here, Sh4dow trying to fuck up sol somehow and shadow has to stop him. amongus time sonics been flirting with the wrong guy for a while. :{ embarrassing.

Theory Time Theory Time!

So with the newest trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations, I feel like I can confidently say who all of the bosses will be.

To start, the base version of Sonic Generations had 7 boss battles, 3 big bosses (being the Death Egg Robot, Perfect Chaos, and the Egg Dragoon), 3 rival battles (being Classic Metal Sonic, Shadow, and Silver), and the final boss (the Time Eater). For the sake of this theory we're going to assume that Shadow Generations will follow this formula too.

Adding on, all of the bosses that will be presented in this theory will have some form of connection to Shadow, meaning that any bosses that Shadow has not interacted with, even if the boss is popular, will not appear.

And lastly, each of the bosses must have appeared within the game where the stage has originated. Here are all of the stages that have been confirmed as of the Doom Powers trailer.

Radical Highway (Sonic Adventure 2)

Final Chase/Rush (Sonic Adventure 2)

Bullet Station (Sonic Heroes)

Westopolis (Shadow the Hedgehog)

Kingdom Valley (Sonic 06)

Getting the obvious out of the way, we have our 2 confirmed bosses, being the Biolizard and Metal Overlord.

The connection between the Biolizard and Shadow is a no brainer so I won't talk about it, however Metal Overlord is interesting and may be deeper than what most people think.

Bullet Station being the featured stage of Sonic Heroes, and what happens in at the end of Bullet Station?

We find a Shadow Android (followed by Neo Metal Sonic copying Shadow's data). Seeing that Android leads to a currently amnesiac Shadow to question his identity and if he is a clone. And who pray tell was the first one to propagate the misinformation?

Neo Metal Sonic. Even if Eggman himself kept the charade going, Neo Metal Sonic (and by extension Metal Overlord) was the one who started the doubt. By fighting Metal Overlord, Shadow can confidently say that he was wrong about who Shadow is, and the only robotic copy around is the one in front of him.

Deciding who the last big boss has been a toughie, and while there is the obvious, I'll be saving that one for the end. Who do I believe is the best candidate then?

The Knight from Sonic Frontiers. Admittedly this one is more of a stretch, however with the given stages we are shown our pool of potential bosses is slim, but that doesn't mean there isn't a connection. In Sonic Frontiers, the Ancients have fled their home planet and landed on Earth with the Chaos Emeralds. With Shadow being both part alien and having chaos abilites, it's not so far fetched. But here's the kicker.

Gerald has visited Angel Island in the past, along with actually seeing the Master Emerald. And what are heavily connected to the Master Emerald that our Ancient friends have brought? Now everything's coming together. So why the Knight in particular? Mainly because it's on Chaos Island where the fight originally took place. But really any of Sonic Frontiers' main bosses would fit.

Now onto the rival battles! Starting with an easy pick, MEMPHIS TENNESSEE Mephilies.

Despite being erased from existence, Mephiles has played a huge role with helping Shadow assert his identity, choosing to forever protect the world even if it turns against him. And with the Time Eater's shenanigans bringing back Crisis City bringing back the erased God wouldn't be impossible.

Not to mention Kingdom Valley is actually where Shadow first met Mephiles in his campaign, the God using Shadow's shadow as a base for the we all know him as.

The second rival battle I believe will happen is everyone's favorite weakling, Infinite.

Given that Sonic Forces is being represented, the character whose whole identity and image have been shattered by the hedgehog makes sense showing up. Although this leads me to ask, why is Sunset Heights in particular the one that's being represented?

Well, that's where the Shadow Clone appears of course.

This is where we learn that Shadow wasn't a bad guy again and was merely being copied by the Phantom Ruby. Perhaps as an intro cutscene to the fight we could have Shadow see his clone doing bad things, with Black Doom taunting him about his inevitable fate of a creature of destruction, before revealing that it was one of Infinite's clones. Shadow would then fight the creator of the clones as an affirmation of who he is.

Now for the final rival battle, I have two options. The one that will most likely happen, and the one I want to happen. The first option is Emerl the Gizoid.

The Dark Beginnings prologue features Emerl, an ancient robot of destruction who Gerald later rediscovers and creates a soul for it based off of Maria. As the prologue shows, Shadow was there during Emerl's rehabilitation and fights him in Sonic Battle. If what shown in the prologue actually happened on the Ark and is not some sort of hallucination, then this rival battle will show the beginnings of Shadow's good hearted nature as he protects Gerald on behalf of Maria.

Despite there being no Sonic battle stages, the fight itself will most likely be apart of the Space Coloney Arc as shown in the prologue.

However, there is one rival battle I really want to happen. Sonic The Hedgehog.

In Sonic Generations we fought Shadow, so how about we fight Sonic in Shadow Generations? However this time it won't be on the Ark, nonono. Instead, it will be on Prison Island.

Faker rematch time! Bonus points if they redub the beginning cutscene to that fight. Plus, with Shadow Generations taking advantage of the fact the fights can take place in a 3D place (as shown in the Biolizard fight), we could be fighting Sonic in an arena instead of the race in Sonic Generations. Now why do I want the Prison Island fight in particular?

Prison Island is where Shadow does his first truly good thing after reawakening from status. Saving Rouge. While claiming it's for the emeralds, deep down he's a good person at heart, he's just so blinded by rage at this point.

With all the possible bosses listened, there's an interesting theme going on, that being Shadow's identity. With Emerl, Shadow wants to save those he cares for. With Sonic, Shadow proves that he is a good person suffering through grief. With the Biolizard, Shadow recognizes what Maria's wish truly was and defies his creator to see it through. With Metal Overlord, Shadow has seeds planted in his mind wondering if he's an Android. With Mephiles, Shadow asserts that he will always fight even if others don't believe in him. With Infinite, Shadow sees that his future self will never turn to villainy again. With the Knight, Shadow will learn more about his origins.

All of these bosses are connected to Shadow's identity, and who pray tell wants to mess with's Shadow's identity the most?

THE DEVIL FROM THE BIBLE

Black Doom.

All throughout Shadow the Hedgehog he's been gaslighting Shadow into joining his side for his own gain, manipulating the hedgehog with promises of showing him his past that he cannot remember, trying to make Shadow something he's not.

It is my firm belief that we will not be fighting the Time Eater as the final boss, Sonic's got that covered. Instead the final boss will be Devil Doom.

It's the final boss of the hit game Shadow the Hedgehog TM, how can you NOT including him as the final boss of essentially Shadow the Hedgehog 2?

After so long since defeating Black Doom, Shadow has grown and reaffirmed who he, and he's not gonna let dear old dad dictate his life again.

Well that got a bit fanficy at the end! Jokes aside, I hope you enjoy my speculation on who the bosses are and what the potential story could be!

Sonic ancient civilization notes (only on Sonic's direct planet);

Westside Island had an ancient civilization whose misuse of the emeralds led to ruin. Date unknown, though Aquatic Ruin shows remnants

Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace has various structures and ruins affected by the tide, alongside distinct icobography. The weathering and some areas being submerged at least dates it a century or two

Superstars has 4 ruins levels on their island, mostly deserted. The fact they have different architecture each implies at least 2-4 separate civilizations, or an evolving culture that migrated

Marble Garden Zone and Labyrinth Zone Sonic 1 has unique architecture. The former has ruins submerged in lava, the latter has ruins submerged in water. Potentially the island's shifting landmass caused both to cave in, or another unrelated disaster occured

Death Ruins in Shadow are covered in heavy moss and lichen, very clearly overrun by the surrounding jungle. It seems to be a key strategic point in the Black Arms invasion...

Soleanna has the tradition to celebrate the Fesrival of the Sun. Given the area has a consitutional monarchy, one can infer that this nation has existed for at least several hundred years

Dusty Desert in particular houses more ruins submerged in sand! And of course, the Castle of Soleanna, showing the old monarchy's influence

Mirage Road has spinning contraptions and channels to transport sand. It's tech is impressive, still functional

Water Palace similar to Mirage Road has operating pressure water pumps, underwater turbines, and water cannons

Lost Labyrinth Zone is another water flooded ruin. There's a lot of these...

Sylvania Castle spans a large coniferous area, featuring water flooded segments and relevant abandoned water milled powered platforms to cross

The Black Arms laid their flying base 2000 years ago on Earth, keeping it in reserve until the Chaos Emeralds were found. They return 1950 years later after seeing the newfound Bernal Sphere orbiting the planet, their leader making a deal with Gerald for the Emeralds, in 50 years time

Chaos ravaged Pachamac's tribe 3000 years ago and was sealed in the Master Emerald. The stragglers also created Angel Island with surrounding landmass to prevent the Master Emerald from being accessed. For those on the island, remaining members had unique art and ruins at various sites. For the area on ground, warning murals of Chaos' perfect form are displayed, now called Mystic Ruins

Wild Canyon/Dry Lagoon and surrounding desert have noted Echidna iconography. It's unknown if that civilization was related to Pachamac's, though the different iconography and habitat makes this unlikely

Holy Summit is noted set of ruins made by Echidnas alongside an extinct volcano. Connection again seems unlikely to Pachamac's tribe, though Knuckles temporarily lived here during Battle's events showing that he can leave the island if he wants to

Emerl originates from a civilization 4000+ years ago, having destroyed it due to overflowing power. Contrary to what Chronicles states, it is not specified as an Echidna tribe in OG Battle

It's unknown when Babylon Garden came to the planet, though many legends of the Babylonians are noted in other civilizations, having devolved to thinking they're genies. Their thievery was supposedly punished at one point, sinking the Garden into the ground. Sand Ruins and the Gigan Rocks are related

The Ancients supposedly crash landed on the planet 10,000+ years ago, bringing the Emeralds with them

Light/Dark Gaia have had repeated feuds every million or so years. Ancient civilizations have protected temples related to this to assist Light Gaia. It's unknown who made them, but the local communities till present day guard them

OKAY SO :) the phantom ruby is technology of the ancients, bear with me!!

Basically my idea is formed cus know the ancients were really knowledged on how to utilize the chaos emeralds, right? most of their technology is dependant on the chaos emeralds or otherwise relies on them to function; staying in a sort of "stand by" mode when the emeralds had been removed from the starfall islands for eons.

we also know that despite knowing about the chaos emeralds, as they seemed to come from their planet, the ancients didn't seem to be able to use the true potential of the emeralds, relying in using them to fuel their machines. not much different from eggman and how he uses, or how G.U.N. and he use chaos drives.

So what if the ancients, for one reason or another discovered what the chaos emeralds were truly capable to, perhaps thanks to a vision, since we know chaos emeralds and the master emerald may be able to give clairvoyance to people (See the murals in angel island depicting the fight at the end of Sonic 3, or the scene in Origins where Sonic sees a vision of west side island.), so what if they tried to... find a way to use these powers.

perhaps they were unable to unlock the chaos powers of the emeralds, that miracle they are able to grant, because their bodies were simply incompatable, we know there are species out there made for chaos energy, like the black arms, and others that mmmmaaayyyy be incompatable entirely like the wisps.

but the ancients were a super high-tech species, able to take much more power from a single emerald thant what eggman had been able to take from the master emerald before (given base form sonic had been able to take one of his robots fueled by the M.E. before, without going super), so it's not far fetched to think they would be able to, like tails, and eggman, create replicas of the chaos emeralds.

this is where the phantom ruby comes at play.

the phantom ruby shares several traits with the chaos emeralds, specially one major trait which is to modify reality itself. as well as how the M.E. (in the paramountverse) is described to be able to turn thoughts into power (and i believe this is true for the unlimited potential of the super form in any canon).

The phantom ruby literally transfroms thoughts into power, casting the thoughts of its wielder into reality, the ruby is also capable of space-time transportation as seen in the ruby mist of ruby mania, and the vortex that takes sonic into egg reverie zone and then into the modern world. (it's also worth mentioning that although they both entered at around the same time, classic sonic arrived in the modern world roughly almost a year after the ruby did.)

not unlike the emeralds the ruby can also create visions to whoever touches it, although that while the emeralds reveal to sonic (in the origins cutscene) the location? or just a visage of west side island, things of a person's futue; the phantom ruby shows it's host what they most desire, possibly as a "promise" of what they could do wielding the ruby.

and, just like the emeralds, the phantom ruby clearly has a certain sentience of it's own.

and although extremely chaotic and volatile, the phantom ruby seems to be able to interact with chaos energy. it's volatile energy causes angel island to fall (this is probably because just the master emerald's presence allows it to flow, sort of like if the M.E. only needed the slight energy radiation it has to elevate the whole island, and si not actively keeping it afloat with too much power)

and it also reacts to the chaos emeralds spinning around it, we know the chaos emeralds spin in circles seemingly to communicate or share chaos energy, they do it when they will disperse across the world, before turning someone super, etc.

However as seen in the sonic mania ending: the phantom ruby reacts volatily and negatively to this, losing what it seems to be most of it's power (The overclocked ruby in forces turns magenta and has white energy stripes... like the normal sprite of the ruby in mania, so it's sort of safe to say the it lost energy between Mania and Forces), and shaking/twitching when in pressence of the emeralds.

my point being: the phantom ruby shares too much similarities with the chaos emeralds, but seems to leave these world-shattering powers more accessible to any host of it, while the emeralds cannot be wielded by anyone.

oh and let's also not forget the similarities between the cyber spaces of the ancients and the special zones of the emeralds... AND HOW THE PHANTOM RUBY IS ABLE TO ALSO CREATE IT'S OWN REALMS! LIKE EGG REVERIE ZONE (which already looks a lot like a special stage of sorts, just unfinished), and NULLSPACE (wich... strange dimension where you can only get out from running and has an aesthetic of having floating energy and cubes thingies floating? LIKE THE CYBER SPACES?!)

oh also; let's also-also not forget how similar the phantom ruby glitches are to the cyber corruption!

MY THEORY HERE: being that the ancients created the phantom ruby, or at least were working on the phantom ruby before The End found them again, not letting them exactly finish their creaton.

I think that the ancients were developing a way to use the power of chaos against The End, but it found them before they could ever finish it, that's why the ruby it's extremely volatile and reacts aggresively against the chaos emeralds.

once the ancients were gone the ruby simply could've went missing, we know the emeralds and M.E. left the starfall islands, and stayed (or at least the M.E. did) in the safe haven the ancients had built in what one day would become angel island

while the emeralds were used by different civilizations across the world, like the south island and est side island civilizations.

so that even can explain the fact the phantom ruby had been "missing" for a long time, perhaps it's volatile nature didn't allow it to stay "forgotten" for too much time.

How would you like a Movie Blaze to be portrayed? Also, how would a Movie take on Sonaze be portrayed, you think?

When I started answering this, I had assumed that Blaze and Silver would be best off just both coming from the future, since obviously in the context of a movie they're better off introduced together, and said movie would CERTAINLY be an 06 adaptation (as in Silver, Blaze, Iblis and Mephiles, not... THE OTHER STUFF.) So I felt splitting their origins into the convoluted mess they became in canon was... bad.

But then I remembered: the Sonic movies represent a UNIVERSE, not one world like the games. So no need for a Sol Dimension, just have a Sol PLANET! I'll explain the backstory for her connection to Silver in a paragraph or two.

Tragically for Silvaze fans, since a lot of focus is placed on family in the movies I'd want them to be clearly shown as siblings, much like Sonic and Knuckles (and I say this as a Sonknux shipper in basically every other continuity.)

Meanwhile, I would like to make it clear that Sonaze is far and away the best het bi4bi Sonic ship. So yes, I would like to see it in SOME application! Especially if, with this being a broad-strokes adaptation of 06, she's the Elise of the story.

My idea for the origin story to tie Blaze and Elise together, prepare for bad fanfiction thought up in a few minutes, is that Blaze starts out as the princess of "Planet Sol," with her fire powers, when suddenly through some sort of space-time vortex, the destroyer of galaxies Solaris appears, pursued by junior time-patroller Silver. In spite of the efforts of the Sol Empire and Silver's guidance on what the hell is going on (MAYBE make everyone but Blaze have not trusted Silver as part of the two's character issues,) naturally the world goes up in flames, until finally through Chaos power or some shit, Silver, Blaze and Blaze's about-to-die parents manage to split Solaris into Mephiles and Iblis and seal Iblis in Blaze's body. Silver and Blaze are left with nothing, Blaze's planet gone and Silver having busted whatever he used to time travel, and all they can do is wander the universe. Soon they end up pursued by Mephiles, who's determined to restore his true form, and are ultimately pursued to Earth, hoping it will have something to help them as the ancient location of the Master Emerald.

Wow, this summary is awful.

But the idea I had from the start for Blaze being Elise is, uh... an idea for the ending lol.

Basically, Blaze gives dead Sonic THE 06 KISS, and while it does bring Sonic back to life, everyone reacts the way the fans would react. Sonic is immediately spitting out of his mouth. Blaze is frantically apologizing and saying she COULD have just given him life force through her hands and doesn't know what came over her, Amy and Shadow are blushing, Tom and Maddie are going into super-overprotective mode, the whole thing. Since this plot obviously doesn't have NEED for retcons really, everyone just agrees to never discuss the kiss again lol. THEY'RE STILL KIDS.

This needs SO much work but I think I have BRAIN BLASTED something interesting. Thank you for initiating it!

Oh uh thanks well let's see I mean I had this theory but I don't really know if I can call it mine, I just sorta assumed it in my head. I could be wrong though...here's a heads up for spoilers...

So after I played frontiers, I had the idea that maybe due to the ancients being related to chaos which was originally a chao mutated from the master emerald, maybe the ancients became the Chao I mean they do resemble the koco's a bit.

Another idea I had was that when they left their planet to go to the other planet, another part of me wondered that maybe the force that tried to destroy the ancients was the black arms since they had a habit of well... destroying planets.

Heck, maybe a select few of the ancients fled to a different planet and became the dark arms like they evolved and made robots like Emerl which Gerald Robotnik picked up on it during his partnership with Black Doom. I only got this idea due to the black arms resembling the ancients weirdly enough.

Heck maybe the black arms after trying to beat the ancient attempted to take their technology and learn from them leading them to making shadow due to the mural of super sonic, it would explain the partnership with Gerald since that was the planet the ancients decided to stay on plus it would explain Gerald's exploration with chaos... these are just theories though I haven't actually done much research just little headcanons I had after playing the game.

Sonic : You ordered Tikal to seal away Chaos within the Master Emerald?

Knuckles : So that's why Eggman freed them both. So you've been watching us all along, it was only you who set up everything in Mobius! But why on earth did you let Chaos kill my ancestors?

Grim : To explain this from the truth, it's revealed that he was one of the sinners who made Chaos to destroy the world in Mobius's past just to bring dominace over mobians. The leader of the clan, Pachacamac, was such a greedy fool to think that the powers of the emeralds would be his to take, but the emeralds belong to a race of being that are related to Chaos, the ancients were the ones that brought these emeralds to your world, Sonic. The Mobians of Influence has kept truth hidden from the other mobians and the public eye.

Knuckles : So this means my ancestors had been puppets on a string the entire time. The leader of my clan was stubborn and too greedy for power. Only an Echidna not too greedy power, greed is a deadly sin.

Ashley : They were all fallen ones and were resurrected to different universes and Real World AU. Shinra Kusakabe resurrected as the Dark-type of a Chaos Chao resembling his appearance as the devil who created Soul Eater.

Kimial Diehl : And I suggested that the hope he found was light itself, and then was scolded by the Time Eater when he established the World Heroes Force organization.

Seto : The DWMA's true predecessors, from an organization of heroes to an organization of a giant school. And let's not forget, the school itself was not protecting public order, but is also created for the monopolization of political power.

~ Scene 2 : The Typical Grim ~

This might have already been discussed somewhere, since I doubt I’m the first to have thought about it but.. I can’t help but wonder, does time work the same way on earth as it does on Sonic’s home planet (Mobius?)? The echidnas shown in the first movie are very reminiscent of the Sonic Adventure tribe, who were alive hundreds of years ago. What if, for every year that passes on Earth, another 10-100 pass on Mobius.

It could explain a few things, like Tails saying “I hope I’m not too late.” Late as in, Sonic might have already passed? Maybe he assumes Sonic is old and experienced, which would set the stage for a hero complex and potential arc in the story, learning to see Sonic as just another lost kid and not this great big hero from the past.

Knuckles says “It is my destiny to destroy you.” Which almost implies Sonic to be some sort of ancient evil told throughout the generations within the echidna tribe, until eventually, Knuckles is the only one left. Imagery of ancient Owl carvings also appeared in the original Sonic games, again could imply Longclaw was the last stand of a dwindling rival tribe to the ancient echidnas. There’s also a carving of a blue hedgehog, which could also explain some things. Besides, Sonic seemed to have been isolated on Mobius, I doubt he’d be able to tell the difference.

Also, what makes Sonic so special? Knuckles seems to have a similar ability.. Does Knuckles only have his powers because of his close upbringing to the Master Emerald, like exposure? Maybe he works more like,,, taking chaos energy (I’m assuming chaos energy anyway) and using it, while Sonic generates it, like a battery? Maybe he’s actively absorbing some of Sonics power in the first trailer, since he only goes all flashy after having caught Sonic’s energized spin dash? BUT that would go against his whole “Do i look like I NEED your power?” Arghhhhhh I have so many questions for the new movie! Anyway sorry for the long ask, just wanted to share some thoughts :)

Unfortunately, I am...VERY bad with the concept of time and understanding tropes where measurements of time work differently between locations. Might be the dyscalculia, idk! So I don’t think I’ve COMPLETELY understood your idea, but I’ll respond to what I can anyway because I do like where you’re going with it! Especially the idea surrounding Tails seeing Sonic as this great hero “from the past” prior to meeting him, oughh. I think either way we may get something like that if he’s just as aware of this “destiny” stuff as Knuckles to some extent? So that’s cool!

I think your concept on how it would affect the Echidna and Knuckles, while understandable, would still be able to make just as much sense even without the altered time theory (or at least without the difference being as long as 100 years?). Some people interpret the imagery in S3&K to not represent Sonic himself, but maybe a different hedgehog like Shadow, amongst many other theories and concepts, so there’s clearly been a lot of leeway taken from that huge mural. We don’t know if that will be replicated in the movie ruins, but at the very least we have said hedgehog carvings in the walls of it, as seen on the IGN poster. These carvings are even vaguer than the S3&K mural, as they aren’t even blue, so that same subjective nature could come into play, if it turns out that imagery has existed longer than Sonic and the Echidna we saw combined. Knuckles still could’ve had stories of Sonic passed down to him, assuming he was also a small child around the time the Echidna’s ambush on Longclaw had taken place, or at least have that information left behind for him in the form of stuff such as the imagery in the ruins (esp since it appears in more places than just surrounding the Emerald altar, like similar owl imagery throughout the island Sonic grew up on).

I don’t know if any of that made sense or anything (again, I probably don’t understand your idea completely, and that’s on me for being bad with this subject lol), but I enjoy your theory and you consider a lot of important things that I highly believe will be addressed canonically anyways!

NOW as for your last paragraph, I can talk about this with a little more confidence.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot too, because I’m getting the vibe that there IS a notable difference between Knuckles and Sonic’s powers, but I don’t know if I’m reaching based on our limited footage or catching something intentional. I actually made a voice memo of me trying to work out my thoughts, so I’ll just listen to that and write my opinion here simultaneously.

First of all, I don’t think Knuckles has that direct of a connection to Sonic’s power, like the conclusion you made near the end. He charges up a little earlier than when he catches him, and made it clear that he didn’t desire Sonic’s power, so all of that checks out. HOWEVER...here’s a detail I think is really interesting.

Keeping in mind that trailers for movies can intentionally hide things and steer viewers into the wrong direction with their predictions, this analysis could age bad, but...notice that Knuckles’ quills and eyes don’t charge up like Sonic’s in their first encounter, but DO later on when they’re fighting around the Master Emerald. And the difference is kind of apparent.

oh, hey, let’s look at that third image above for a sec! you know what this shot reminds me of?

This part of the first movie where Sonic drains the power of Robotnik’s vehicle, potentially gaining more energy from it. It adds up, considering his powers were treated as very electric-y all throughout the first movie, even being the cause of a state-wide power outage. Maybe Knuckles, whilst having powers with a similar electric aesthetic, can do a similar move with a different element (the earth?). If this were to be the first time we see him REALLY charged up like this, the implications of that would be interesting, considering Sonic doesn’t even need to rely on external sources to that extent most times in order to reach high power. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the point, considering what Sonic’s supposed to learn in his first battle with Knuckles is that his power doesn’t substitute for experience and skill. Maybe when he gets a handle on those strengths, that’s why he’s able to beat Knuckles? Who knows! I do think them fighting in a close vicinity to the Master Emerald will most likely impact their powers and potentially their control over them, though. I wouldn’t know how, but presumably the logic is in my previous points. What I do know is there is absolutely no way Knuckles wasn’t as charged up during the home invasion because he was holding back. He’s against Sonic completely here and was absolutely putting a lot of effort into kicking his butt, so it HAS to be a matter of him not being able to access his powers full potential until he’s more “in his element” at the ruins near the M.E.

Hi Moralitas! I've got another Chaos Barren question: So if Scarfz and the Xaoc being aliens has been retconned, how exactly do the Xaoc and the Echidna differ from other Mobians? Like how is it that they have such a deep connection with Chaos Energy, along with the Master and Chaos Emeralds, but other Mobians don't? Outside of contracts with Fleetway that is. (Hope this isn't too spoilery a question 😅)

I'm sorry this has taken me absolutely forever to answer but boy do I have an answer.

I'll answer all I can and leave the parts I think will be interesting to the story itself. Here's a very rough map of the Xaoc city (Part of the reason answering this ask has taken me forever is because I'm drawing a proper map digitally and this was scratched out in 15 min before my shift end lolol)

They are extraterrestial way in a similar way the Babylon Rogues are, settled on Mobius/Scarfz planet and established a close connection with the echidna, considering them a sister race.

The Xaoc were less idenitifed by their species rather than their history. Their first connection with Chaos/Fleetway was purely accidental. Being the god of Chaos, Fleetway truly embodied that, offering his power to whoever wished for it and when their bodies could not bear it, watching them burn away from the strength of the chaos.

The Xaoc worshipped him and named their sacrifice after him (Yes they named the sacrifice Xaoc and then named themselves after them. Imagine a whole people named Karen LMAO). Their origin stories remain the same, where they offer a rare blue hedgehog as a sacrifice. In this universe, all the blue coloring means is that they have a higher affinity for chaos than others. Fleetway, though he was a god of chaos, did not see much sense in burning through an infant child and rejected their offering. Thinking he wanted something different, the Xaoc offered the child again when they came of age.

Fleetway was intrigued by them, and offered the sacrifice a choice. Accept their role in life and burn, or reject the power and walk away unscathed. Having lived their entire life as a sacrificial lamb, pampered but never loved deeply, Xaoc refused both of these. They made a deal with Fleetway, that if they could take the power and survive, Fleetway would grant them the power they needed to live freely.

Never one to turn down a bet, Fleetway agreed. Xaoc burned super, and though the energy was a great burden, they survived and became The First to host Fleetway.

This was the start of their connection with Fleetway/Chaos, who didn't mind renewing the contract when a new blue Xaoc was born.

So in regards to you question: why do they have a deeper connection compared to other Mobians? It began with discipline and practice. The more they sought it out and developed it, the stronger and easier it became. They are a warrior race and settled on Mobius when their home planet was destroyed by the Black Arms.

Centuries before the modern time of Boom Sonic's world, the Xaoc and echidna entered a war with the Ancients, a people of Mobius, who were found syphoning energy from the world's very chaos to power weapons of war. There are some elements that resulted of that that will remain hidden for now, but the Xaoc were faced with a choice, surrender the Master Emerald and all their ancient secrets to be used and weaponized, or hide it all. The echidna's had been bested, they had no allies left.

All of their powerful chaos wielders came together to hide the city, forcing it beneath the ground and protecting it with a powerful shield. The cost of a spell this powerful was enormous and cost many their lives, meaning they lost their most knowledgable wielders.

Now, they survive as best they can in this shield they created, hoping their ethereal will return to free them. Once a magnificent people full of culture and history, they struggle to survive with what they have.

Other mobians could technically achieve a similar level of prowess that the Xaoc and echidna have, but are less likely too and may be more at a disadvantage.

Chaos is radioactive, in its own way. By calling it closer and living with such proximity to it (tending to the fae gardens, also known as the chao gardens) they have become stronger in many inherent ways.

Alright, so, I’m not gonna do these guys from left and right, but, from what order they’re introduced in.

Sonic the Hedgehog, 13 years of age. Crashing/landing in the Green Hill Zone Garden section of the Acornian Capital city planet of Grand Acornia, Sonic the Hedgehog only seems to remember the past year of his life, that he spent on a more or less rural planet in the Hedgian territories. Still, when Grand Acornia is besieged by Doctor Robotnik of the Egg Empire, he’s not afraid to speed into action, and becomes one of the main figures of the Starblaze Freedom Fighters.

Princess Sally Acorn, 14 years of age. Daughter of the king of the Acornian sector, Nigel, Sally hasn’t been one to care much about being a princess for years now, except for when it helps her get into otherwise unaccessible places and situations. Her most recent years have mostly been spent learning martial arts, playing board games, reading on philosophies of tacticians, as well on territories outside of the Acornian sector, and wandering around the section of Grand Acornia she lives on, wondering when she will get to really see the stars for herself. Suddenly, a mysterious new hedgehog boy comes into play, arriving in an escape pod bearing the Royal Family Sigil of Hedgia, and, she’s intrigued, especially with all the mystery surrounding him. After Grand Acornia gets sieged, she starts becoming one of the main figures of the Starblaze Freedom Fighters.

Antoine D’Coolette, 17 years of age. The son of famed Acornian Military officer, and a descendant of a noble South Hedgian family, Antoine has lived, breathed, and Trained for the military, wanting to live up to the noble expectations of not only his family itself, but his honorable military father. However, ever since his father disappeared about a month ago, to try and help the Hedgian Military take back their space from the Egg Empire, he’s been a bit more awkward and nervous than usual. King Nigel, having seemingly understood what was bothering him after a few days, declared that he was to be one of his new military advisors, as well as part of his guard. Seeing that he had something to be strong for again, Antoine accepted, and, has been by his side for the past few weeks. However, he becomes suspicious of a certain new arrival, and convinces the king to make him Sonic’s escort, in order to keep an eye on him and the princess. Of course, he’s taken aback when Sonic and Sally don’t seem to mind, and even invite him out for ice cream. While’s no good at hand to hand combat, he is a trained swordsman, and, yet, has sworn off the blade, until he can either recover his father’s, or one from a previous member of his family. Still, his military type training and learning does benefit not only him, but the rest of the Starblaze Freedom Fighters.

Rotor the Walrus, 15 years old. As a young walrus, Rotor always had both an interest and a knack for technology. Sadly, this didn’t bring him any closer to his warrior father, Tundra, who hated technology, and decided pure strength was best, although it never did them all that great against the Northern Raiders. Deciding he would have a better life somewhere else, he left the Artikan sector at age 13, and ended up arriving in the Acornian sector, where he ended up being apprenticed to Sir Charles the Hedgehog. He’s a tech engineer, but, is mostly focused on the hardware, only bothering with programming on his most ambitious of projects. Or, at least, the ones he’s sure will impress. While Charles, AKA, Uncle Chuck, has never really been 100% sure that Rotor should be making weapons, even he can’t help but admit that not only do his weapon-making skills benefit the Starblazer starship itself, but the Starblaze Freedom Fighters as a whole.

Miles ‘Tails’ Prower, 9 years old. Son of Acornian Special Ops Commander, Amadeus Prower, his parents disappeared one day on a secret mission, when he was too young to remember much about them. Since then, he's mostly been raised by Uncle Chuck and Rosie, the former of whom discovered how proficient Miles was with tech, and decided to take him on as an apprentice at the age of six. Having worked with both Rotor and Charles for at least three years now, and having been friends with Ben Muttski for most of his life, Tails was mostly content, but, always felt like something was missing. As he gets to know Sonic, though, he'll feel like he finally has the big brother he always wanted, although, Rotor was still pretty awesome himself. He's more of a gadget and pragmatic based engineer, pretty willing to go into programming where Rotor won't. He's really good at flying machines and starships, though, which makes him perfect for the Starblaze Freedom Fighters!

Bunnie 'Rabbot' Rabbit, 16 years old. While not an initial member of the team, Bunnie's possibly one of its most valued members. Partially roboticized, she's not afraid to use her newfound powers to help the team! She's headstrong, but, has an interest in things like hairdressing. She doesn't like to talk about her past too much, though. What little the team knows about her origins, is that she's from a lawless planet called Mirage, where her two older brothers and uncle live. Still, despite her unwillingness to talk about her, she's the type of person that you can count upon just about always, and, a real heavy hitter of the team.

Amy Rose, 10 years old. A former daughter of Mercian Nobility, and cousin of Prince Rob herself, Amy's been on little planet for...Well, at least four years, to her knowledge, and perception. Some would think she lived alone, but, she wasn't alone. She was living with her two friends, Tekno and Gold. Tekno taught her to search for scrap, salvage, and supplies, while Gold helped her to understand the unique nature of the planet. She's seen little glimpses of time and space, but, those that she's actually cared about are glimpses of a certain team, and a blue hero. When the Starblazer Freedom Fighters come to stop Robotnik from ultimately using Little Planet to conquer the galaxy, Amy Rose jumps and smashes into action to help. Once the crisis is over, she decides to travel with the Starblazers, wanting to not only watch Sonic in action, but help the entire team.

Knuckles the Echidna, 14 years old. Knux has been...Mostly alone for a good chunk of his life, as far as he can recall. After his dad disappeared, he's been the guardian of the strange, utterly humongous flying island, kept aloft not only by the Master Emerald, but Ancient Echidna tech built literally around the island. The sole people he seems to get company from before he meets the Starblazers, are two people, he calls 'Granny' and 'Gramps', whose actual relationship to him is...Complicated. Still, they've managed to be a pretty nice family. Then, Robotnik came along, and convinced that the Evil Sonic the Hedgehog was trying to steal his Master Emerald! Believing him due to the Doctor's manipulations, he fights against the Starblazers at first, before realizing he's been tricked. After that, he, his granny and his gramps decide to help the group, and, he becomes the last classic saga Main Starblazer, smacking robots and evil doers with his huge fists.

So I saw the Sonic movie and it was… mediocre as expected. But one thing I was not expecting was for the ending to actually leave me excited for a sequel. 

In fact I was so excited, I was urged to write my own hopes and speculations for it. 

Since I’m talking about the sequel, obviously there will be spoilers for the movie under the cut.

First let’s list the characters I’m hoping for. Going in order from all but guaranteed to are you crazy that character doesn’t have a chance in hell

Tails

Obviously if the ending is anything to go by, Tails is going to have a role. I doubt he’ll be voiced by Colleen Villard though, she was probably just a placeholder for whatever celebrity will take over the role in the sequel. My personal hope is Tom Holland. 

Knuckles 

Knuckles I’m sure will also be in it, as it would be a shame for all those echina designs they used for all of 10 seconds in the movie to go to waste.

My speculation is Dr.Eggman will join forces with the ecinha tribe, and Knuckles will be sent in as some undercover spy to pretend to befriend Sonic and gain his trust. And then it will be of those plots where Knuckles starts to genuinely like Sonic and starts having second thoughts about his mission. Basically Sonic, Tails and Knuckles will have the same dynamic as Manny, sid and Diego from Ice Age. (Just so there’s no confusion, Sonic is Sid)

Metal Sonic

Metal Sonic’s general popularity and iconicness combined with the military themes present in the first film give him a decent shot of appearing in the sequel. He’d appear as either a creation by Eggman or his assistant Stone, with his power source being one of Sonic’s electric quills. 

Although the real reason I want Metal Sonic in it is because I want them to recreate the iconic battle from the OVA movie. 

Amy Rose

Amy is the last specific character I’m holding out hope for. I just think it would be nice if they added a female character into the mix.

If they do include her, I think it would be cool if they showed the origins of her acquiring her Piko Hammer. I’m imagining that Green Hill hosts a fun fair, and Amy finds the hammer at one of those ‘test your strength’ games.

Literally every other Sonic character

From Tails’ brief cameo at the end of the movie, I got the impression that he might be part of some sort of resistance group. (That owl thing from the beginning of the movie was probably part of it too). My most outlandish hope is that this resistance group is made out of established sonic characters, from the video games and if we really want to go out on a limb, the freedom fighters from SatAm. They wouldn’t have a major role or anything, but just seeing them in a cameo would be cute.

Plot speculation

As for the actual plot of the movie, my major hope is that the human characters have a reduced role. As I did not care for that element of the movie. 

My prediction is that Sonic lived a happy peaceful life in Green Hills, up until Donut Lord and Pretzel Lady decided to have a baby. (idk what their real names were) Then Sonic feels he doesn’t have a place in their life anymore, as all they do is spend all their time looking after the baby. Things only get worse when Sonic has difficulty controlling his growing powers, making him a danger to the whole town, especially the young infant. 

That’s when Tails shows up, and sheds light on Sonic’s origin:

Long ago there existed a single jewel said to contain all the chaotic energy in the universe: it was known as the Master Emerald. 

For as long as the emerald had existed it had been protected by an ancient tribe echidnas. But neighbouring factions of animals grew anxious, feeling that the emerald was too powerful for anyone to behold. To stop war from breaking out, the echidnas came to an agreement; they would perform an ancient ritual that would split the emerald into seven smaller emeralds, and scatter them apart into the far corners of the universe. Animals from across the galaxy gathered to watch as the ritual took place. But something went wrong. During the ceremony a curious young Sonic felt like the emerald was calling to him. He ran and touched the emerald just as it split into seven, and was caught in the resulting energy blast, bestowing onto him his powers of electric speed. The echidna's were outraged that someone other than themselves had been bestowed such power, and vowed that Sonic must be destroyed for the safety of the universe.

That’s when that owl lady was entrusted with Sonic’s safety. She hid him away on a distant deserted island, but the echidnas continued to pursue: and that’s the point where the first movie began! Yay, a full narrative circle!

Now, in the present, Dr.Eggman has made an alliance with the echidna tribe. Together they are planning on gathering the seven chaos emeralds to stop Sonic, who the echidnas still believe is a threat to the universe.

Tails has come to enlist Sonic’s help to gather the emeralds before Eggman does. Sonic agrees, hoping that if he gathers the emeralds he might be able to control, or possibly relinquish his powers, so he can live a normal life in Green Hill. 

Donut guy initially wants to come on the mission with Sonic to protect him, but Pretzel Lady is like ‘no you have a child now you can’t go on life threatening missions’. So there, that can be the human conflict for the film if we need one.

Sonic joins Tails’s freedom fighter squad, but while he works with them Sonic discovers he’s a massive asset to their team, and that he wants to travel across the universe with them, saving one planet at a time. 

The movie will end with Sonic accepting that it’s finally time for him to move on from Green Hill, and it will be a metaphor for how Sonic team needs to move on from Green hill zone nostalgia too. 

And that's my prediction synopsis for the sequel. Damn, I’m actually invested in that story now, if that’s not how the sequel goes I’ll have to write it myself. 

Oh no, did I just threaten to write Sonic fan fiction? I’m in too deep.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – Trailer Breakdown and Easter Eggs Analysis

No movie has had a comeback story tied to its trailer like Sonic the Hedgehog. The original film’s first trailer was met with widespread scorn thanks to the nightmare inducing design for Sonic and the bizarre music choice of “Gangsta’s Paradise.” This reaction was so strong that Sonic’s design was completely overhauled and when the second trailer dropped the critical reaction made a 180. The film itself went on to be a box office hit and well beloved by longtime fans of the franchise.

Now we’ve finally got our first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and they’ve clearly learned from their mistakes. This trailer is packed to the brim with fan pleasing moments, Easter eggs galore, Knuckles, and most importantly? Sonic doesn’t have uncomfortable teeth. 

Just in case you somehow haven’t watched the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 trailer let’s remedy that, shall we? Check it out and then we’ll flex our Sonic fan muscles and take a close look at all the way past cool references and Easter eggs we could find.

Sonic Skateboarding and Snowboaring

Sonic was catching some sick air on that board! While Sonic never got to peak ‘90s and totally shred some sick skateboard air in his original games, “Classic Sonic” in Sonic Generations was able to use a skateboard. While not technically skateboards Sonic did ride around on a hoverboard in the racing game Sonic Riders. He also sort of skated through the city on a piece of metal in the opening level of Sonic Adventure 2.

Snowboarding however Sonic has done, as we see later in the trailer, albeit it briefly at the start of a level in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

The Chaos Emerald

Robotnik states that, “since I’ve been gone I’ve discovered the source of ultimate power.”

When we last saw Robotnik he was on the “Mushroom Planet” which bore some resemble to Mushroom Hill Zone from Sonic & Knuckles. It’s unclear whether the Emerald seen in the trailer is intended to be a regular Chaos Emerald (which, if the player collects all 7, can be powered up), a Super Emerald (as named in Sonic & Knuckles and basically enhanced versions of the other Chaos Emeralds) or the Master Emerald, which control the other Chaos Emeralds. Considering the one we see in the trailer is green, it’s of such a large size, and Robotnik claims it has ultimate power, we’re going to assume it’s the Master Emerald. No doubt Robotnik will use this to try and overpower Sonic.

We also get a glimpse later in the trailer of what looks to be the Master Emerald in some kind of ancient temple. Could this be a live-action version of the Hidden Palace Zone from Sonic & Knuckles? In that game the Hidden Palace Zone contained the Master Emerald so it’s pretty likely!

Tails

When Tails appeared in the post-credits scene of the first film it ignited applause from fans across the world (especially the eight year olds sitting in front of me.) In that brief appearance he was voiced by the current voice of Tails in the games and TV shows, Colleen O’Shaughnessey. Fans hoped she’d get to stick around for the sequel and not be recast with a big name celebrity and thankfully her voice has been retrained and is given prominence in the trailer. She even gets to yell, “SONIC!” which is what Tails would yell when he died in Sonic Adventure 2.

Interestingly it appears Tails and Sonic have never met before (perhaps Tails has had heard of him though) but it looks like they’ll become fast friends.

The Tornado

The distinctive red biplane Tails pilots in the trailer made its first appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Sega Genesis. There the plane was prominently featured in the Sky Chase Zone where Sonic attacks enemies and Tails maneuvers to catch him. The Tornado has gone on to appear in many iterations of the Sonic franchise with several redesigns and extra attachments. The version in the film most closely resembles the one from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Genesis.

Lava Reef Zone?

Sonic is shown jumping (with game sound effects) through what seems to be some kind of tunnel with lava. With Knuckles making an appearance in this film it’s highly probable that this set piece is a reference to Lava Reef Zone, which appears in Sonic & Knuckles. We hear Sonic collecting rings but no rings are seen on screen, so that sound effect is probably just for the trailer.

Egg Mobile

Robotnik flies a machine that resembles the Egg Mobile from the first Sonic game. The machine has been given several different names across the various Sonic continuities including the Egg-O-Matic in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. The first live-action film had Robotnik piloting a flying machine but this one clearly draws much more inspiration from the games.

Knuckles

Here he comes, rougher than the rest of them. The internet felt a collective knock knock on its door when Idris Elba was announced as the voice of Sonic’s friendly nemesis. Knuckles made his first appearance in the series in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as an antagonist before becoming a playable character in Sonic & Knuckles. Since then Knuckles has become a staple for the franchise and is often a playable character and main star in various Sonic spin-off media. (He once had his own comic and you have to read about it to believe it.)

The version of Knuckles in the trailer is only briefly seen but he’s very much Knuckles from his original appearances in the games. He’s tough as nails and a worthy foe for Sonic, unlike some of his more recent appearances where he’s been portrayed as a lovable meathead idiot such as in Sonic Boom.

Elba’s voice is immediately commanding and downright COOL. His line, “do I look like I need YOUR power” is the stuff edgy Sonic fanfics are made of. It’s perfect.

Much like in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, we’d guess Knuckles has been tricked into working for Robotnik and will eventually switch sides to help Sonic. Knuckles’ backstory was also deeply tied into the Chaos Emeralds so we’re sure he won’t be happy when he learns Robotnik is messing with them.

Why do you think Sonic has become associated with time travel or other "cosmic" subject matter like alternate dimensions? These make up a huge number of his games; do you think he'll ever return to lower-level plots?

They were part of the franchise from the very first game. Given that the Japanese instruction manuals for these games is now the “accepted cannon,” I believe the instruction manual for Sonic 1 mentions that the Chaos Emeralds exist in an alternate dimension and that the barrier between the two dimensions (our world and the special zone) is at its thinnest on South Island.

South Island itself is said to be special, because unlike most landmasses that have a fixed position, South Island freely moves around the ocean, likely due to the dimension-warping properties of the Chaos Emeralds.

Next, consider that Sonic CD was originally intended to be the follow-up to the original Sonic on Genesis, and that game deals with magical time traveling mini-planets. Sonic 2 itself was also going to incorporate elements of time travel at one point.

And then we have Sonic 3 and Sonic Adventure, both of which involve the plight of Angel Island and legends of Godly powers trapped inside of the Master Emerald.

There is no return to lower-level plots because Sonic the Hedgehog was always “cosmic.” It was always about alternate dimensions, it was always about time travel, it was always about dead ancient civilizations and the unfathomable elder forces that destroyed them.

Honestly, I’ve always found that stuff to be pretty cool. I’ve never been one for Sonic games that deal with aliens, but whenever they get in to the bizarre mystical history stuff? That’s great. It feels so imaginative. And, with regards to the “Sonic takes place in the real world” concept, it kind of makes you feel like anything’s possible. Almost like buried pirate treasure, or something. Secret locations that you can only find by accident with a magical lore all their own.

That’s definitely something Sonic games haven’t had in a very, very long time. I think that’s why the possibility of what was cut out of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric has me so interested, because it felt like it could have gone in that direction.

Seto : Master Grim? I humble deep apologies. It appears that we may have discovered that the Space Colony Ark incident that took place about over a year ago, what was that purpose of Shadow the Hedeghog of not being dead, when did you say that he died? A brave heroic hedgehog.

Grim (Metal Sonic) : I never that I remembered during that incident. All of these incidents caused by the conflicts in Mobius, there is something wrong with the Dreamcast era.

Seto : Hmm? Like what? I don't know how'd the incidents that took place in every Sonic game that he has ventured throughout fourteen years, but after that crazy Chaos Incident, what's the ordeal with Sonic's world being devastated by these things we call them "Monsters"?

Grim (Metal Sonic) : ....To be honest with you, Master Seto. Chaos was not the only God of Destruction, but before all of that happened, I was the only mobian being that was ever chose to become God of Death, my sole purpose was to protect those who either died or even get killed, the Ancients that arrived on our world tens of thousands of years ago.

Seto : The Ancients you say? So that's what led the monsters to devastate Sonic's world, it's because of them?

Grim (Metal Sonic) : Precisely. Yes, I've known these beings before, they're the relatives to Chaos, and I might believe that they're the ones that made the destroyer of their homeworld that caused the disaster on Mobius, separating the two beings, Light and Dark Gaia.

Seto : Hold up. Did you say "Dark Gaia"?

Grim (Metal Sonic) : Agree. Dark Gaia was not the name of another character, but it also the name of an evil parasite that has been scourging from underneath the core of Mobius when he was birthed by The End itself, the name of the Ancients' old enemy. Dark Gaia tried to cover everything in Darkness, by plunging Mobius into his new world. But eventually, it's other half Light Gaia came and stop Dark Gaia instantly. The two Gaias fought against each other as Light aagainst darkness, and Light Gaia was the first Mobian God to save Mobius before I became a God of Death. Thus...Dark Gaia was not pleased after his defeat and will suddenly have his revenge on both Light Gaia and the Ancients for sealing him into Mobius's core. That is what the Chaos Emerald wanted for these Monsters, bringing, Death, destruction, and carnage.

Seto : So I get it now. So the reason that Chaos Emeralds had been hidden in South Island for so long because the Ancients warned everybody that the powers of the seven emeralds were only used for machines, not for evil. No wonder why Chaos destroyed an entire town in 1998, and same goes for the Space Colony Ark that tried to put the planet in omnicide. Those who sought the power of these gems can lead to insanity, murder, and of course, Chaos itself. Talk about total carnage on cosmic horrors.

Grim (Metal Sonic) : Well, that is correct. Men of Mobian influence has kept the truth out of the humans, mobians, and every intergalactic species that wanted nothing but to bring arrogance that spread the influecne from the Ancients. Whether Mobius can be destroyed by cosmic horrors, Gods, or a Machine. That's what the Lore of Sonic is about.

*Heartbeat*

Grim (Metal Sonic) : !?

Seto : Master! Master Grim! What's happening!? Are you alright?

Grim (Metal Sonic) : No...It can't be! He's coming back from 200 years! I've know him somewhere before!

Seto : Wait, who? Who's coming back from 200 years in Sonic's world?

Grim (Metal Sonic) : It's that alien leader who is responsible for the Space Colony Ark Massacre 50 years ago. It's him! The leader of an alien race that Shadow originated from, it's got to be him! Black Doom.

Seto : Black Doom. You've know this alien guy?

Grim (Metal Sonic) : 50 years ago. G.U.N has been recording the military records to show that Black Doom was on the manhunt list of the Massacre that wanted to hunt down Shadow and Doom, they started a raid and shot down an innocent girl, who happens to be the cousin of the man who gave me this body. Dr. Ivo Robotnik, better to call him Eggman.

Seto : So, that's what led Gerald descended into insanity and misleaded Shadow for vengeance. So that's how the plot of Sonic Adventure 2 started, Shadow said that the Space Colony Ark was the first colony to have produced a weapon of mass destruction and could destroy the entire place. So the Space Colony Ark incident...

Grim (Metal Sonic) : Yes...The Biolizard that Sonic and Shadow fought against the during incident, was only the older brother Shadow wanted to free from the cursed past, meaning that the Biolizard is not the cause of Gerald's Madness.

*Shadow SFX : Mission Fail*

Seto : EHHHHH!?! Why didn't you tell me that before!? So defeating and stopping the Ark from crashing into the Planet was just a diversion to bring Black Doom back to the planet that he arrived on? You mean Sonic and his friends went through all of that trouble for an older brother? Why do I get the extra credit for to say that the real truth about 50 years ago was kept out by the Mobians of Influence?

*DOOR BANGING!*

Shadow : Grim!

Grim (Metal Sonic) : Shadow. Long time no see. Remember me? Everyone said that you died during that incident, congrats on giving me your older brother's soul.

Rouge : So you're the one that was meddling in Shadow's past 50 years ago. I knew that Eggman was keeping him a secret after I discovered that he wasn't dead, he was rescued by your security and brought him to that real place where he is suffering amnesia.

Grim (Metal Sonic) : Is that so? Eggman said something about his grandfather trying to destroy all of Sonic's world, the one who literally descended him into insanity was none other than the alien leader, Black Doom. I just discovered that the cause of Sonic Adventure 2's plot was being retconned when they discovered that the truth about 50 years ago was false. You'll even regret that Shadow lives after he was presumed dead, but luckily, I did not have time to await for his death, but I eventually let you lived. That's why you wanted to kill your older sibling so that you could even trust Black Doom by destroying all of the evil that Professor Gerald have created you. You weren't created to destroy all of the evil that he cause, you were created for good.

Shadow : So what if! I want answers, Lord of Death. I made a promise to Maria, do you know what happened to her? I demand to know!

Grim (Metal Sonic) : Yes, I highly recommend that were victims of the massacre that G.U.N was ordered to get rid of the Robotnik Family and wanted to make you a prisoner or Top Secret Weapon, the president felt guilty that humans were nothing but an arrogant species. So I had to condemn the soldiers as sinners. So here's this gift of mine. This voice of this girl who got killed by the fault of G.U.N is right here.

Maria's Voice : I'm sorry, Shadow. Please, forgive me.

Shadow : M-Maria!?

Grim (Metal Sonic) : That's right! It was from this soul of the deceased Maria Robotnik, I hardly knew that I manipulated this girl's soul into the only voice that you'll ever listen to and in turned manipulated you.

Shadow : Of all of the stupid asinine Shark jumping bull sh**! I've been manipulated by the voice of her Soul! I made a promise to her and I found out that I was manipulated by the soul of her voice the entire time! I couldn't remember anything! And who is this Maria? I didn't remember a thing. I suffered amnesia to jump the shark!

Omega : SHADOW, ORIGINAL OR NOT ORIGINAL. SINCE METAL SONIC WAS MISTAKEN AS DR. IVO ROBOTNIK FOR CRIMES AGAINST ROBOTS AND HUMANITY, I AM AWARE THAT YOU WERE INVOLVED OF THE SPACE COLONY ARK INCIDENT ABOUT 50 YEARS AGO.

Grim (Metal Sonic) : You must be E-123 Omega. You were keeping an eye on Shadow for a long time before this bat girl came to form an alliance to creat the coolest team of all, Team Dark. (Seto is shown eating noodles) After all...You would even think clearly after you wanted to destroy one man's reputation against others in 2003 and in 2004. Two years perhaps, it's your lack of will that it became pointless for a man that has a life that's best.

Shadow : Grim! Tell me the answers, now! How did I not met this robot, the Shadow Androids that I've saw those capsules containing the ones that are me!?

Seto : They were only copies of the original and Metal Sonic was about to use them for world domination. Sad for them and not you, they were never used during Metal Sonic's rebellious crime against both machines and humanity. That's your loss, I think I give myself clearly to think that it is such a tragedy to think all of that matters now. If you hadn't been kept on lying from the false truth about fifty years ago, when the Military was ordered to a manhunt to start the colony's massacre. There was a G.U.N Soldier going at Gun point to shoot you down, but then it was Maria who was the one who took a bullet down. Because, the government wasn't trying to kill Shadow, they all wanted to imprison him that knows all about you. That is the reason that the man who shot down Maria was a member of the Mantis Platoon, a unit ordered by G.U.N to shoot down Shadow, but took Maria's life instead. I have a Chaos Barren question: Just how dead is/was Scarfz planet? Like if all the Chaos Energy was siphoned out of it, how is it that plants and forest were still able to grow and how did the inhabitants survive?

Oh this is an excellent question!

So Scarfz' planet is not naturally barren of chaos, it was unnaturally forced into that state by the events of the Ancients and the vying for possession of the Master Emerald and Chaos Emeralds.

The lore has changed and the Xaoc now originate from Scarfz' planet and are a civilization. But the Ancients, previously their allies, wanted to harness the power of the Master Emerald and when the Xaoc refused (for this was a sacred possession they entrusted only to their sister race, the echidnas) the Ancients sought out alternatives.

They created the chaos crystals, imbuing stones with the planet and the peoples natural life force.

Another entity, opposite of Chaos, had a hand to play, and the planet was severely drained (slight spoiler territory). Kind of like an extinguisher applied to a fire, smothering out the natural excess.

Basically, think of it like a cooling ember. There is still life, but it's fizzling out. People can still live full lives but beings like Sonic and Shadow that have a deeper connection to chaos energy will feel the long term effects. It would take a long, long time for the planet to become a dead planet, and it's all avoided long before then.

Most of the inhabitants don't need that much chaos to begin with, so they don't really notice.
