It’s Andy’s idea to hyphenate their last names.

One night while they lay in bed discussing the wedding, Nica mentions how strange it is to think that no one she grew up with will be there. Andy knows her too well to tell her she can keep her last name; he’s seen how stubborn she is, and witnessed first hand the soft, dream-like smile that lights up her face when someone mentions the wedding and calls her Mrs. Barclay.

When the thought finally comes to him, he takes a gamble and decides to surprise her, running to the internet and calling on Kyle for input. When the package arrives at the cabin, he nervously brings it to her, asking her to open it with him.

“Before we open it, I need you to know that this comes with no strings attached, and if you don’t want it, that’s okay.” He prefaces.

Nica looks at him curiously, warily, but when she finally sees the sign, her lips part with shock, her eyes wide and brimming with tears.

“Welcome to the Barclay-Pierce Home!” it reads.

Apprehensively, Andy tells her “I thought it would be the perfect way to keep your family alive and join it with mine. If you don’t want to, I understand, but I’d be honored to take your last name too.” And no sooner had the words left his lips than Nica pulls him into a kiss, pouring every ounce of love and gratitude she can muster into it.

“Thank you.” She whispers, a lump forming in her throat, a few of her happy tears finally escaping as she lays her forehead against his.

Later that night, as they fall asleep, Nica plays with the ring on her finger, smiling to herself, finally falling into a peaceful sleep as the words her fiancée told her earlier echo in her head.

It just pains me to think of their story ending I just can let them go 😭😭

I can't ever see myself formally ending that series. And I would honestly never have written about their ending if someone had not asked. I had always planned on keeping that little piece of information to myself.

First off, TJ is definitely a little house husband, and Andy’s favorite thing when he comes home from a long day at the office is to see his husband with their baby on his hip dancing around their kitchen while dinner finishes in the oven and the dogs come running to greet him. And TJ’s favorite thing is when Andy knows he’s had a hard day and he draws him a nice bath and pours him a glass of wine, and when he’s finally done relaxing he walks into the nursery and finds Andy sprawled over the rocking chair Hal made them with the baby tucked close to his chest and singing softly while he tries to lull him to sleep.
