Fanfiction: Tender
Summary: Lance knows his injury isn’t fatal but it’s not a papercut either. When his options though are either treating it himself or the dark, narrow, cold cryo-pod that the very thought of makes his stomach clench more than looking at this wound, he knows there’s really only one choice. But as he wakes up now with a fever and wound pulsing and hot to the touch, he’s starting to fear he’s made the wrong one.
Story snippet:
A knock sounded on his bedroom door along with with a peppy call of “Number Three? Are you in there? I am looking for taste-testers for my newest creation,” and Lance jolted and that made him groan before he could hold it back as his leg violently protested.
“Number Three?” Coran called again and there was a clear undercurrent of worry now his voice as he’d no doubt heard the groan. “Are you all right?”
Lance gave a silent shake of his head to that.
But, but the moment Coran came in and saw him…
He’d put him in a pod and Dios, he didn’t want to go into the pod.
But, but if he didn’t say anything and he told Coran to leave and somehow the infection got worse…
A tear trickled down his cheek, his hands spasming at his sides.
“Number Three, I am coming in,” Coran announced, no longer giving Lance the option, “please pardon my intrusion,” and then the door was opening and Lance was squeezing his eyes shut at the too bright hallway light.
He still heard Coran’s sharp inhalation as Coran spotted him in his bed.
“Oh, my boy,” Coran’s footsteps were soft as he crossed the room, the door closing with a soft hiss behind him, “what has happened?”

STRENGTHENING PAYMENT INTEGRITY AND REDUCING ABRASION
Payment integrity programs are developed to provide correct claims processing, adherence to contractual rates, and compliance with payment rules. These initiatives are important for maintaining the financial stability of healthcare systems and ensuring that patients receive proper care. That being said, they can produce friction between payers and providers, originating from disputes over claim disapprovals, reduced reimbursements, and the administrative burden associated with claims adjudication.
Healthcare providers are under considerable pressure, with inflation at 3.3% driving up hospital costs. Furthermore, cuts to Medicare physician payment rates are making it more and more challenging for physicians to sustain their practices, contributing to a rise in hospital-employed physicians, now at 77.6%, a 25.8% increase from a decade ago.
Compounding these difficulties, 7% of physicians have left the workforce, mainly from internal medicine and family practice. Healthcare organizations must find ways to compensate for these shortages, with increased billing on claims being one potential method to recoup costs. However, this can increase tensions between payers and providers.
As payment integrity becomes more important due to increasing healthcare spending and complex billing processes, it must focus on reducing provider abrasion to improve billing practices and relationships between health plans and providers.
One core method to reduce provider abrasion is improving communication around claim denials and payment policies. Readily available policies can reduce the chances of surprises by helping providers know what to expect when processing claims.
The next key strategy is communication coupled with the human component. While the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare is a hot topic at the moment, it will take some time for technology to fully understand the complexity of medicine and coding. Codes and rules are regularly changing and being added. Payment integrity requires human expertise and interactions to effectively address provider abrasion. AI is not able to explain complex payment integrity decisions like clinicians with extensive coding knowledge and coders with deep clinical knowledge.
Tailoring payment integrity solutions to meet the special needs of various providers and patient populations is another effective approach. Sometimes, a payer might permit claims from a specific provider offering cutting-edge treatment considered investigational, which might not be allowed from another provider. It is very important for payer organizations to handle these situations in a custom manner.
One more key component of payment integrity programs is the adoption of modern technology solutions that utilize accurate and usable eligibility data in coordinating benefits. For example, when Medicaid payers do not have access to clean eligibility data, it can cause abrasion at the pharmacy for program beneficiaries and lead to improper payments. Accurate eligibility data significantly helps to properly adjudicate claims, saves valuable program resources, and, most importantly, ensures that members receive the care and medications they need.
Clear communication, human expertise, and specialized solutions are key to enhancing the relationship between healthcare providers and payer organizations. The adoption of modern technology solutions with clean, actionable data is another key tool for reducing abrasion and honing payment integrity. As the healthcare industry evolves, these strategies and data solutions will ensure efficient payment integrity efforts, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

Girlfriend, boyfriend jailed after 'fighting for days' until he was 'cut with a chainsaw'
(As originally published with additional photos, Mon, April 15th 2024 at 4:30 PM)
ALTOONA, Fla. (TND) — A sheriff’s deputy sent to check on a man with “a black eye and wounds from being cut with a chainsaw” heard a commotion that “sounded like a struggle” when she arrived, with both boyfriend and girlfriend standing in an open back door.
When that Lake County deputy in Florida left their home…

“I can fix him” I couldn’t fix him and I don’t want to. I think he grew prone to biting and scratching in order to get by in a harsh world, and to me his resilience is part of what makes him so beautifully himself. I could be kind to him, though. I could show him gentleness. I could, slowly but surely, in the same way one earns the trust of a skittish stray cat, convince him that my touch will never come accompanied by pain. That, around me, he can allow himself to be soft. To relax. I could be the one he associates with warmth and safety, the one he longs to be held by after a hard day. I could be his home.

going crazy thinking about Simon coming across a girl when she's recently been kicked out or evicted and has nowhere to go (no family, friends are just not helping at all or can't because they don't have a couch for her to sleep on) somehow through happenstance and he takes her back to his place even though she's apprehensive and puts up a fuss about it :(( makes her sleep in his huge bed while he takes the couch and feeds her. he's not much of a conversationalist but when she offers to cook, he barks at her to go sit on the couch and watch a show.

i just miss those characters i fell in love with in season one. ever since season two rolled around they started losing bits and pieces all over the place and i kept hoping they'd eventually get them back but they never did and i never ended up seeing them again and it hurts it really does because whenever i see an edit or something from season one i am reminded of how fierce my love for them was and is and always will be and how unfair it is that they took them from me
