I can't stop thinking about Deran telling Adrian he loves him. Right before they sleep. Pressed tight to each other. Naked. In absolute comfort. Adrian humming. Feeling it's true. And Deran tells him again. He loves him.

(Prelude to an unsolicited rant: Gaud damn it, I'd been telling myself that I would be done with Wells after last night, but fuck if there aren't 13 episodes in the last season of “Animal Kingdom” instead of the normal 12)

... no one cares fuck all about the sentiments of my level of anger towards the fictional character of J. Cody, but you’re getting them regardless.

I'm Mickey Milkovich on his wedding day except with J. instead of Terry. I'm so fucking tired of him as a character. He's just Lip Gallagher with out heart, or nuanced flavour, and I’m sure that the gaggle of siblings and the revolving presence of a father whom passed down addiction to alcoholism (or Jeremy’s acting choices vs. Finn’s) isn’t what makes the difference. The guy is a psychopath plain and simple. He inherited this mental malformation from his grandmother (whom he bold-faced murdered upon her command instead of her actually facing the cancer riddling her body) and their two-way attempt at destroying the entirety of the generation between them is ouroboros storytelling and boring. The generation between them just tried/is trying to exist in the mad world that the two outer generations have spun in to a tumultuous reality when they should have just tried escaping the insanity. It’s a waste of time to try to thrive in madness unless you’re the source (much like me watching this show). Instead of being portrayed as easily-enough pliable pawns, the in between generation should have been the heart of the show, but what we got is a couple of narcissistic psychopaths as The Conniving Boss Of A Few Broken Bad Boys under the smoke-screen guise of Family Is Every Thing.

... Thank fuck that it looks like the Dragon Of Television might at least give Deran and Adrian a happy ending in Indonesian exile after J. absconds with the remaining spoils of the Cody Empire as it were for himself and himself alone🙄, although, I'm not counting on even getting that much.

John Wells proves that you can get people to watch six seasons of a show with little-to-no-to-degenerative progression. They’ll just thoroughly regret doing so.

Ok, or they are all sadistic people who enjoy torturing us (and given the last few seasons I wouldn’t be so surprised 🙄🙄) or maybe there is still a little hope for Deran to get out alive and reach Adrian.

If this is the case I really hope that they will give us the opportunity to see them together for one last time and maybe even have a minimum of conversation between them 🤞🏻🤞🏻 (I know now I’m asking too much but if I have to dream let me dream big 😁🤡😅)

If they bring back Baz in a flashback, would that mean, they could bring Adrian back in a flashback too?

But I don't have hope anymore... They are so loud about Baz coming back and nothing about Adrian at all. And what would a flashback bring to the story?

The only thing i could think of, would be a super surprise come back with Adrian, but as well, not very much hope. The story is so different now and in a very different end 🤔

DERAN’S ENDING

Per TV Fanatic’s interview with Daniele Nathanson, executive producer, showrunner, and writer:

“In terms of alternative family, he's going to get his brother's girlfriend, their kid, and then go find his boyfriend, and hopefully, it's going to work out. I believe true love will elevate that. And I believe that they will be a family unit, and then who knows what would happen from there. But that's what I believe all the writers we were all discussing. That's what we think happens.“

I don’t like open endings but if the writers think is what happens then I’m going to pretend Deran’s got a happy ending with Adrian. I don’t care much about the Renn part but I guess he has to keep his promise to his brother.

I haven’t watched any of the episodes, just followed the show in social media and was planning on binge-watching season 6 depending how it ended, but I won’t waste my time. So it’s time for me to clear up some space on my DVR and delete all the episodes. So, GOODBYE ANIMAL KINGDOM FOR GOOD!

It was Deran in a beach-y resort we were supposed to see as the final shot, not J. Fucking hell.

I guess we're all just gonna have to agree that he made it to Adrian a little while later. Well done, Deran.

My frustration watching this week’s “Animal Kingdom”

Don’t get me wrong, it was a great episode filled with amazing performances from the cast. But it frustrates me that the writers seems to have forgotten what Deran wouldn’t do vs what Pope did.

Craig finds out Pope killed Cath and he’s furious and won’t accept the excuse that Smurf ordered it. He’s like “Pope could’ve refused”. He says this, less than one season removed from being an asshole to Deran for refusing to kill the person he loved? And then they’re like “Who ever refused Smurf’s orders”. Ummmm ... DERAN! He refused to kill Adrian. The scenes with Deran and Pope would’ve been a great moment to at least referenced that.
