Astro notes ~ part 2

Venus in Aries women tend to be called not feminine enough and could be criticised for the way they move or speak. “Not feminine enough” is something they likely heard at least a few times.

Earth Ascendants tend to put too much pressure on themselves and value responsibility. They may come off as cold and unapproachable without meaning too. They dislike or look down on chaotic and unreliable people.

Sun in Pisces are some of the most trustworthy and kind people I’ve ever met. They are sensible, thoughtful and make great friends.

Sun in Aquarius could be both clingy and distant. It really depends on the person in question and their current emotional well-being. They are known to struggle with recognising or processing their own feelings. The higher manifestation of this placement might actually spend more time by themselves as they realise this is what they truly need or they might just become more independent in general. It’s a funny thing with Aquarius. It’s when they are most chill and just doing their own thing that they attract the most attention. If they try too hard to keep a relationship, they almost always lose it. It mostly could be related to a shaky self of self-identity.

Saturn in 3rd house could bring difficulties in communication. Either you stumble over your words, speak too much or too little or just feel like you cannot find common conversation topics with other people. You are responsible, sometimes to your detriment, as it could lead to a false sense of expectation of what other people should do or be like. You love deeply and have a few select people you pour all your love into and would do anything for. Could mean you are a little rigid and definitely don’t like sharing personal stuff.

Moon in Capricorn: when will you stop denying and over-rationalising your own feelings? Being vulnerable and expressing your feelings is not a weakness as society seems to want to teach us. It takes an enormous amount of courage and strength. It’s about being your authentic self with all of its gifts and imperfections. It will not make you exploitable or create unnecessary drama/conflict. But rather it will open your eyes to truths that may currently be hidden from you. In any relationship, especially personal, emotional compatibility is essential. If you keep being polite and inauthentic you’ll never feel truly fulfilled or find the people who are right for you.

Also, stop being so hard on yourself for every little detail. Allowing yourself to relax and take a break once in a while is important for your mental, emotional and physical well-being. It may also enable you to see different situations more clearly.

Mercury in Virgo: you are amazingly patient and definitely notice the “smaller print”. You might be good at making diagrams, charts, tables. You probably don’t make mistakes when doing calculations and might have a real affinity for the exact sciences. You know how to explain things in simple, concrete and very understandable terms. You know lots of things and are very willing to share them with others. Careful not to come off as a know-it-all and watch out for your nit-picking tendencies.

Neptune in 1st house: is actually a quite interesting placement. People probably tend to project on you a lot. They might have completely false ideas about you and believe them with conviction even when you consistently convince them otherwise. Be very attentive of those you surround yourself with! Sometimes the kindest acts hide the darkest pits of hell.

This placement gives a charming, sometimes ethereal appearance to the individual. There is a charming quality to the way you carry yourself, the manner in which you express your ideas. People could have hidden fantasies about you or idolise you.

Sagittarius Ascendant: talkative, sort of daring personality. If you don’t have many friends, the then you at least have a large circle of acquaintances. You like expressing your ideas, sometimes just to stir the waters. You’re up for fun and spontaneous activities. You like creative people. In social settings you tend to “fly” from one group of people to another as you enjoy exchanging news, ideas, impressions with other people. You may not understand why some earth ascendants like keeping silent. It’s not that they don’t want to talk to you or are angry with you, social situations probably stress them out and they don’t like having their routine interrupted. That’s something to take into consideration.

Also, try not arguing with people just for the sake of proving your point every time. Choose your battles wisely.

Gemini Ascendants: are the real masters of social situations. It’s not mentioned nearly enough just how good they can be at picking up on social cues. They might wisely not show it or even mention it later on, but you can be damn sure they didn’t miss a thing. Also, they are very flexible/adaptable communication wise. If you have a more subdued way of communication they’ll talk more softly and encouragingly. If you are loud and enthusiastic they will try appearing that way as well.

They pick up on the vibes of a room: main relationships between people, primary personality traits, attitudes, if someone has social anxiety etc. They probably also know about secret enemies and crushes but will pretend not to.

Look out for mind games and subtle shows of cunning from them. For example: if you are a heterosexual woman having a secret crush on a heterosexual man and he picks up on it, they might subtly do something to make you feel jealous. Or more blatantly. They could talk to almost every other woman in the classroom but ignore you. Or start talking very pleasantly with you girl friend while you are around etc.

I like associating this placement with the Scandinavian God, Loki, the trickster. They are definitely the type of people that test both the spirit and composure of others. Not always, but there is this tendency, without a doubt.

They might also subtly look down on those who are shy/find it hard to express themselves.

Moon in 8th house never truly gets over a crush. They don’t fall in love easily but once they do you’ll forever remain in their heart. If you leave never to meet them again then you’ll be one of the spirits in the “graveyard” of their souls, ever present and never to be completely forgotten. They are people who are authentic and love with incredible depth and intensity. Once you become their person, they would do anything to make you feel understood and loved. Could have difficulties letting go or accepting rejection.

Astro Observations (LGBTQ+ Synastry edition 1)

Hi, everyone! Hope you are doing well!

So, for this series I thought I'd take a specific look at synastry between queer couples.

Most of astrology is built around heteronormativity, and things like synastry get adapted to fit queer people, but from the basic hetero information we have. Some of it works; some of it does not.

So I decided to explore different possibilities, so that we can have a more broad and varied list of info to look into. I will be doing several parts to this, ranging from planets, to signs, to house overlays. And perhaps aspects.

DISCLAIMER: As usual, these are just POSSIBILITIES. They are not rule, and they do not apply to all like the law. Also, individual natal charts MUST BE LOOKED AT AS A WHOLE.

These are my personal observations and findings, and I am always happy to take different input and experiences, so that I can continue building what I know. As I learn, I will be adding more information to posts.

PLANETS

Sun -

I noticed that Sun does take a bit more relevance in queer relationships.

All in all, the sun isn't one of the most important planets in synastry, but when it comes to queer dynamics, it seems to be more relevant.

Gay men/masculines - Sun-Sun synastry seems to be relevant here. Specially regarding the aspects.

In gay synastry, I notice that recognition and affinity is very prominent. Men need to feel like the other guy is like him. They need to feel a sense of friendship and kinship.

The sun is a large portion of our ego. So when their suns are in positive aspects (trine or sextile), even if just by degree, men tend to feel attracted. Oppositions may or may not work, depends on their natal charts. Squares are always a no.

Lesbians/feminines - Complimentary Suns, I notice to be the most prominent feature regarding sun synastry between them. In terms of signs/elements.

Women seem to be more into a push and pull dynamic, but not exactly opposites. They want difference between them, but also similarity, so that the purposes are aligned. So combinations between signs in the same element or complimentary elements (water-earth, fire-air) are they most common occupance.

Also, friendship is less of a component of their relationships. So feminines don't necessarily need to be friends before dating, or even feel like their partner is their "friend" a lot of the time. Instead, there's a stronger "familial bond" between them. It's less looking for a buddy, and more looking for a housemate.

Moon -

Because of the nature of being queer, emotional safety is a big component of what makes up a relationship between non-hetero couples.

Moons aspects tend to be more revealing of the shadows of the relationships than the light, though, it seems. So I would argue that it's less likely to have a moon synastry that only shows up good results. Often, it will be a mix of the good and bad of the moon placements.

Gay men/masculines - For men, believe it or not, the more toxic or challenging aspects of the moons tend to breed attraction. They can feel like the conflicting energies represent passion, and it can feel exciting or motivating to conquer, like there will be a big payoff.

It's either that, or the complete opposite, and they seek immense emotional compatibility, so moon conjunct moon or at least in the same sign. Again - having the same moon can lead to emotional exaggeration and fight for dominance too, besides the emotional sameness. Like I said, both aspects - good and bad - tend to manifest.

There's a need to heal or be healed by one another.

Common occurrences are: moon opposite moon, moon square moon, moon in challenging houses (4th, 8th, 12th), or the same moon. Trines tend to be felt as boring.

Lesbians/feminines - Similar to men with the sun, the moon represents the ego for women in these relationships, and therefore, it's where they derive their bond from.

I noticed that a lot of the time, queer feminines tend to look for moon opposition between them, but rather more by sign than by degree. It's not so much opposition specifically, but more like dissonance, which can include opposition. The thing is that they seek very different energies between them, to a point in which they have very defined roles in their relationship (e.g.: the impulsive one and the organized one| the aggressive-possessive one and the submissive-nurturing one| the quiet one and the expansive one etc.)

They like the difference between them, as sort of an emotional need for balance and stability. Different natures account for different aspects of the relationship, which means all bases covered. Woman adapt well to emotions, so moon is also a big planet when it comes to sexual compatibility.

Mercury -

Of course there's all types of experiences and relationships, but I notice a lot of occurrences in which Mercury is more of a problem than a unifier.

We have to understand the deeply psychological nature of queer relationships, considering that LGBTQ+ people live in a binary heteronormative society, but at the same time, existing "outside of it". So the role models of being human are all binary and heteronormative. Queer relationships demand a lot of working through emotional wounds, traditional roles, expectations, dreams of fitting the queer reality into the non-queer molds... But also having all of those feelings unprocessed and unexpressed. So communication is simultaneously a MUST and a struggle.

Gay men/masculines - Despite men being stereotyped as rational, Mercury is actually not that conductive to much in synastry. In terms of attraction, I mean.

Mercury will only really become a thing in these relationships when it's looking at a long-term commitment.

Obviously, poor communication and conflict will ruin ANY relationship. But just like women think they can adapt to any differing emotional reality, men think they can adapt to any differing intellectual reality. Most often, hard aspects will breed clashes. And the positive ones won't really do much, but rather be a nice, soft support. It's just like good conversation.

Most common: Mercuries in the same element.

Lesbians/feminines - Here we have a similar situation. Mercury doesn't really do all that much between women.

Something I notice is quite common is Mercury relations only becoming apparent when it's really conflicting Mercuries, likes squares. Mild or soft aspects between Mercuries are more lived than felt or seen.

Common: Aspects between Mercury and Mars. This one is a key factor in physical attraction between feminines. Even the square can cause sexual tension between them.

FFWAD 24 - Sins of the Father by @selfproclaimedunicorn

For my first foray into this yearly celebration with @renegadeguild, I picked the brilliant and fantastic story, Sins of the Father by @selfproclaimedunicorn. Misa has taken the fantastic AU premise 'What if Daemon Targaryen and Rhea Royce had kids?' and has run with it in the most delicious and satisfying way. The story isn't complete, but the first 'arc' has a good stopping point at a whopping 160k words, which made for the chonkiest book you could imagine.

This was the twelth book I've bound (both fic and rebinds of old favorites) and I tried several new techniques for it including rounding and backing the spine. I also stretched my legs in the formatting department and went all in with the interior. That meant ordering some special springhill paper to do these fantastic maps for the endpages. Full details behind the cut!

Typesetting: Normally I've kept my settings pretty minimal as I got used to the ins and outs of InDesign (during this, I did purchase Affinity Publisher and might end up moving to that, but I'm finally getting the hang of ID and you can pry it from my cold hands). I really wanted to mimic some of the interior of Fire & Blood for this, so I hunted down the fonts used and took an image of the decorative banner you see on the sides to use for the chapter openers. I also wanted to include timelines and family trees in true historically inspired fantasy tradition.

The family tree was created based off of the author's spreadsheet in Google Drawing, which I found to be the easiest thing to use when it comes to creating chaotic family trees like this (In the past I'd used lucid chart for a printable version, but google worked better here).

the timeline is honestly my favorite thing and I learned how to use tables in ID for the first time. I'm incredibly pleased with it. The formatting is based upon the line of kings in the source. The timeline covers the events of the first arc as printed in this particular story.

The chapter openers are some of my favorite! As the children are proud to be House Royce, I wanted to reflect that. The runes you see behind the Chapter number and title are the Floki font and name the character whose the POV for each chapter.

Since there's plenty of High Valyrian spoken and the author doesn't include the translations within narrative, it was the perfect moment to set up footnotes. I'll absolutely be doing this for my own story when I bind it!

Rounding and Backing: So this was a total adventure, but I really wanted the old book feel. I made the mistake of pressing the book for too long and lost a lot of the swell in the spine to round but it worked out AND I managed to back it a little bit. Since I wasn't doing cord tapes for the spine (this was a version of the three piece bradel), I had to troubleshoot. I ended up cutting strips of the leather cord I bought from michaels and laminating those pieces together and placing them on the oxford hollow on the spine (given how thick the book is, I wanted to give it as much structural strength as possible). The 'leather' covering you see is actually the craft leather (polyester) from Dollar Tree and it's pretty awesome but definitely has difficulties staying put with glue. I followed the normal procedure and slathered both sides up and used twine to compress the bookcloth along those leather pieces. there's a little gaping in some places which I think would help if I'm able to properly apply backing paper to the polyester.

HTV do's and don'ts: Hi! don't be me and forget to apply your teflon sheets before applying the HTV because then you fuck with the polyester but it's not too bad. The other pro-tip is to gently apply the iron to the cover so it's warm before applying the HTV so it can start to stick. I had to apply the front cover in three pieces and do the title twice. Also, it's really difficult to apply HTV to a rounded spine so I'll have to figure out how to set up the spine and cover before applying (since there's a certain amount of stretching the bookcloth over the spine). The spine might end up having to be regular adhesive vinyl for that. Also, it's stupidly hard to find metallic HTV in bronze.

Front matter and final thoughts: The bronze dragon was a lucky find through an extensive google search, and the runes surrounding it are 'we remember with fire and blood', a combination of House Royce and House Targaryen's words. Seems fitting four Yorick, Ella, and Aemon! The copyright page is mimicked off the source's style, including the AO3 information, the creative commons and fair use information, the guild stamp, a QR code to the AO3 page, and my own press stamp! The summary is pulled from AO3 as well.

All in all, I made this book twice and I loved it and learned so much every time.

Pac has been awake for a while, after his brush with final death. A lost soul, he now travels the empty island, without purpose, aimless as the wind. But one day, in his travels, he comes across a radio tower. Within it, on the cold tiled floor, are bloody, muddy footprints. Fresh. He knows deep in his heart who has been here.

It takes a very, very long time; searching, travelling, calling out, before he realises Fit might not be here anymore. He is nowhere to be found on Quesadilla. But he came back. Pac knows he came back. He remembers how Fit confided in him; what he explained about his contract. How he'd be sent back there. Pac is a smart man. He figures it out.

Pac has always had an affinity with machinery and technology. If anyone could do it, it'd be him. A large part of him desperately wishes that Tubbo was here to help him, to speed things up. He isn't, and the years go by either way.

The technology used to send someone between dimensions is unstable and confusing. Many times did he respawn, many times did it all crumple and have to be completely rebuilt, many times did he show up in strange places he was clearly not supposed to be. (He remembers a man with an accent similar to Tubbo's in a purple visored helm asking him how on earth he got past the whitelist). But eventually, it worked. With one major drawback, he discovered. The energy consumption was off the charts. The amount of energy he would need to send one person across dimensions for one day would take about a year to gather. Nonetheless. Something is better than nothing.

He remembers stepping into the machine, and praying again for his life. He knows where he is going, and he knows who he is looking for. Years have passed and not even time could sway him from his goal.

He gets one day of tracking each time. One day of trying desperately to find Fit, getting closer, then teleporting back to his home dimension, and having to pick up where he left off in a year's time.

But, eventually, the day comes. He doesn't remember much detail. Everything was blurry. He remembers seeing that silhouette, the one he could never forget, running full speed, being caught in those strong arms again. He doesn't remember what either of them said. But he remembers that despite that face having changed, he still smiles the same. He remembers that despite there being far more scars on Fit, there is still a small notch in his nose, faded but not gone, from a mishap with a pickaxe on a beautiful day. He remembers looking in those eyes - or, eye, now - and finally feeling at peace again.

He explains how he got there, how his machine works. His Fit has nothing but compliments, as ever. He explains that he can't stay long, but can return, one day. Fit understands. He places a freshly clipped red rose in Pac's hands, and sends him on his way.

The next year, Fit is waiting for him.

Mercury is the planet of communication and of the mind; it is one of the most important planets in a composite chart. It’s important to check both the house placement and the aspects to this planet to see how communication manifests within any bond you may be looking at.

I will be using the writings of Robert Hand from his novel “Planets in Composite: Analyzing Human Relations” to describe the meaning and significance of the Moon in each composite house. Please always keep in mind that this is only one vital step to reading an entire composite chart and should not be seriously considered without viewing everything as a whole. This is just one piece. 1H Composite Mercury

Mercury in the first house of the composite chart indicates that in this relationship communication and community of ideas should play an important part. Not that the relationship will be just an intellectual one, but communication and intellect will be important factors. Therefore this is an excellent placement for all relationships involving business or commerce in any form. However, it does no harm in a personal relationship, which often suffers from a lack of real communication. That should not be a problem for you. The fifth house is also the house of children and their education. [On Iori and Shirayuki]

Finding out just how physically weak and slow Iori is — especially compared to the rest of his family — is interesting for me.

Shirayuki’s full profile paints a more complete picture of who she is. She was the president of C3’s Tokyo branch, enjoys watching professional wrestling as a hobby, dreams of getting another chance to battle Gear (lol), practices radio workouts daily, and values being seen as “strong.” Her weakest subject in school was home economics. She has a clear affinity for fighting (further proven by Miyako’s quote in the final chapter, referring to Shirayuki as the Tokyo branch’s number one battle-crazed Mom.)

When we first learned that Shirayuki was responsible for trying to keep Iori away from the combat team, it wasn’t exactly a strange concept. She’s his mother, and regardless of his talents with barrier magic, it makes sense that she would be concerned about him getting hurt. She’s also well acquainted with that world, and likely understands first-hand how easy it is to be killed in that job.

But after seeing the Tsukimitsu family’s profiles in the guidebook, I can’t help but wonder if Shirayuki’s concern for Iori wasn’t so much about “a mother’s love for her son,” but rather, being specifically concerned that Iori wasn’t built for fighting.

(Which is not to say she doesn’t love Iori. She does! She even has a high-scoring “family love” parameter on her chart!)

For a clearer picture, here are some stat scores listed on their profiles:

Iori: 3/4/7

Miyako: 8/8/8

Yumi: 5/7/6

Shirayuki: 5/3/9

(Iori’s lack of physical strength is double confirmed on one of the alignment graphs included in the Q&A section, where he’s a lot closer to the “physically weak” side of the chart.

Also, to help put things into perspective a bit more — Mikado is noted to be physically ungifted, and his physical strength score is a 2. Iori is almost as physically untalented as Mikado lol.)

Iori is slightly faster than his mother, and has slightly better mental prowess than his younger brother — but that’s pretty much it. His listed top skills involve him being good at cooperative efforts/listening to others’ opinions and taking them into consideration. And, of course, his barrier magic.

When it comes to the other two -- Yumikage is on the combat team, but Shirayuki doesn’t give him a hard time about it (at least, not that we’ve been shown.) Same goes for Miyako. She was in the kendo club in school, has a very high score for physical strength, and has shown her skills in the actual story, like in the battle against Tsubaki by the hospital. In general, it feels like Shirayuki isn’t nearly as strict with them about avoiding combat. (Still strict, for sure — just not as much as with Iori.)

Shirayuki clearly still worries about her younger kids, but if their trait scores are anything to go by, it would stand within reason to consider — maybe she trusts Miyako and Yumikage can defend themselves in battle, but she has doubts about whether Iori can do the same.

The guidebook had a Q&A that explained how even though Iori is powerful, his magic is geared more towards defense, and he needs to be paired with a strong partner in order to be a real threat. When it comes to Iori’s choice in friends/partners, I imagine Shirayuki wasn’t too keen on the idea of his safety being in Touma’s hands, and expecting Tooru to protect Iori by himself would be unreasonable.

The fact that Iori joined the combat team at 17, and then was forced into the president’s role less than a year later, really speaks volumes about how desperate Shirayuki was to keep Iori away from fighting.

I also can’t help feeling Iori’s obsession with joining the combat team was less about the fighting, and more about knowing both Touma and Tooru were going to be on the combat team. He didn’t want to get left behind by his friends…

(FWIW: This analysis is based on the assumption Iori’s skill chart pertains to his pre-injury stats. If the stats listed on his profile are only relevant after he ended up gravely injured… well, then none of this is relevant! Lol)

So let's say hypothetical the certain someone in the reading is jimin who he's supposed to be together in this life, there's a paragraph in there which I'm quoting below.

"In this, these two exchange Water and Fire between the Cups and the Wands. On their own, Temperance carries more Water, more fluidity, more feminine receptivity, while Jungkook carries more Fire, externalized action, masculine projection."

So here they mentioned that the"Temperance" carries more water and jungkook and this temperance will exchange fire and water, as we know in this life atleast jk has lots of fire in him as like fire element, so i remember asking one of the jm biased person who also knows reading like they have studied it that what is jm's element as how jk is more of fire, tae is more of water so what is jm's and they said jimin is "Air" element something. Now i don't understand these terms at all so idk if all humans have these elements but one of the element will be in more quantity than the other or smth. So i wanna clarify what does this Temperance and jungkook exchanging water and fire means and if jm has that water element in him (hypothetical asking as IF we consider this person as jimin).

Each one of us carries the 4 elements within us. It is what makes up our soul.

Usually not all 4 elements are completely balanced within us. We may use or project one more than the other.

I understand why your friend might say Jimin main element is Air. Libra's element is indeed Air. But the sun sign only is not a good indicator to know how a person uses his elements. We must take the whole birth chart into consideration.

For example I am a fire sign - Sagittarius. But in my birth chart I have A LOT of Capricorn energy, so a lot of earth energy. I in fact have way more earth energy than fire energy.

Since I personally don't know Jimin's full birth chart, it's hard to make assumptions.

And the birth chart is what it is, a BIRTH chart. It's the potential of everything you have at birth, but things can evolve. And you do not use only one element during your life.

If yes we say potentially his main element is Air, it doesn't mean he doesn't have water, and maybe he uses his water in the context of the relationship.

Which means that if they are counterparts, they need to exchange some kind of energy to function in harmony.

For the divine feminine, Jimin, he is more in fluidity, more receptive, so it makes sense he uses his water to balance the fire of Jungkook, the masculine energy.

It may as well be to keep the balance between them.

As I said he has the 4 elements but used in different contexts and for different uses.

We may have affinities with an element more than another, even if we have all 4, so sometimes we focus on specific elements to "master them".

The current state of their connection being represented by The Chariot is really nice as it showcases that they are in fact on the same path now. With soul counterparts, the parallel paths eventually merge into one higher path that affirms and supports soul purpose, or in their case soul mission. This is not an intersecting path, meaning this seems to be a potentially one and done deal unless they choose to separate on a conscious level. In other words, if it was purely up to their souls to decide, they are together now and will be together until their lifetimes here are over. When one dies, they will stay with the one who is still living until they pass.

This is very fucking nice. I think for Jungkook from what we've seen even consciously it's a done deal. We shall see if Jimin can overcome the whole "Devil perspective" thing and help it move it forward. But I have high hopes honestly.

Libra! This placement brings a natural affinity for justice and fairness, they're the ones that set the expectations! This placement makes someone a great peacemaker (and debater!), easily able to tap into the needs of others and see all sides of a situation. Someone with this placement may come across as quite polite too or friendly, maybe even a good aesthetic eye which shows with the way they dress, their makeup or something else. Libra placements have a reputation for being quite slow or "dumb", but remember Libra is an Air sign - they also need some kind of mental stimulation and can be highly analytical individuals, able to judge situations very accurately! When a Planet/Asteroid/Fixed Point/House falls into a Zodiac Sign constellation, it will be appointed a Degree. This Degree shows how far along the Planet/Asteroid/Fixed Point/House is in a Zodiac Sign. Each Degree is also associated with a Zodiac Sign, meaning when this Degree comes up it can nuance the way the Zodiac Sign of a Planet/Asteroid/Fixed Point/House is being represented.

For example: Mars is 6° in the Zodiac Cancer, 6° represents Virgo - therefore the Cancer Mars also takes on Virgo traits. The 2nd House is 23° in the Zodiac Scorpio, 23° represents Aquarius - therefore the 2nd House in Scorpio takes on Aquarian traits.

Planetary Ruler(s)

This phrase refers to the Planet(s) that rule a Zodiac Sign. When a Planet falls into the Zodiac Sign it has rulership over, the energy of both the Planet and the Zodiac Sign is amplified.

Differences Between Migi & Dali (Observation)

This is definitely long overdue, but I thought it may be helpful to those who aren't completely caught up or who aren't able to tell the twins apart.

In my opinion, the viewer should be able to tell who's Migi and who's Dali by the end of Episode 3 or 4, as their differences really begin to show. One of the most crucial elements of the story is the twins themselves and how they and their relationship evolve (IMO more important than the mystery). Therefore, it is important to be able to distinguish the twins as early as possible, otherwise the viewer may miss out on the full experience of this story.

I wouldn't necessarily say that this contains spoilers, but if you want to figure out the differences yourselves I would hold back from reading for now.

Birth order: Migi is the younger twin, and Dali is the older twin. The twins seem to be well-aware of this and certainly act quite befittingly.

Names: Migi means "right" in Japanese, and Dali seems to be short for hidari or "left" in Japanese.

Hair: Migi's bangs are swept to the right (his left), and Dali's bangs are swept to the left (his right).

Handedness: Migi is right-handed, and Dali is left-handed. In fact, Dali seems to be the only leftie in the story.

Hoo boy this took forever! Rinto's timeline height chart!

12 years old: Genin from Konoha. part of the team called "Team Yokai". A promising shinobi from the Kuzunoha clan, that despise being a very farming orienting clan with an affinity for foxes, also had a strong shapeshifting kekkei genkai, and any ninjas coming from this clan were great soldiers. Kuzunohas with white hair had the strongest version of the kekkei genkai. Rinto had to grow around war and deaths, and with a very strict and proudful kunoichi mom, he isnt known to smile often. He is very much aloof most of the time. Still he had friends.

17-18 years old: Jonin. With a lot of training and his skills with managing his kekkei genkai and jutsus, Rinto is a rank S shinobi. During these years, the Kyuubi attack happened. During the attack, his entire clan was killed by the fox's attack, leaving only Rinto alive. He blamed this on the poor management of the village, and when he asked for some sort of compensation, he was just met with a "Sorry." Full of hate and revenge, he massacred a great number of shinobis in retaliaion, especially genins. After this, he runs away from Konoha, becoming a Nukenin.

28-30 years old: Nukenin. Member of the Akatsuki. Joined with the promise of a better world,where he would have loyal companions that would be there for him. He specializes in espionage, using his shapeshifting ability to infiltrate as a completely different person, or as a small fox. Usually doeant have a partner, but will work with other members if needed. Usually partners up with Itachi and Kisame when it happens.

McMusic 16 2001 Pop / Teen Pop / R&B / Pop-Rap

Resuming this intermittent Euro-trip that I've been on where I get snapshots of what different countries' pop landscapes were looking like at certain points in time, and today, for the first time ever, we're taking a look at 2001 Norway, with this 16th installment in one of the country's own Now That's What I Call Music!-type series, McMusic.

Now, usually when it comes to these types of ephemeral Euro-comps from yesteryear, I'm looking for three separate boxes to check off: one for a nice and poppy rush of nostalgia, another for a good tune or two that didn't do anything Stateside, and third, something that's so insanely dumb, bad, and Eurotrashy that you have to appreciate the beautiful mind that conceived of it. And while there is plenty of bad Euro music on here, unfortunately none of it falls into that highly sought after category of 'so bad it's good'; it's just unremarkably bad instead.

But with that said then, let's start with the nostalgia rush. There are a few instantly recognizable, intercontinentally classic y2k bangers on this album, but no tune among them happens to go harder than Destiny's Child's "Survivor," a song that took the group's criticisms and constant ribbing about their own personnel turnover to task and ended up resulting in the most ferocious and intense single that they'd ever made; an absolute, certified, string-frenzied bop that you can cathartically wallop a punching bag to 🥊😤. Beyoncé's entry is just so electrifying on this one, and the chorus' constant background chants of "What?" à la DMX, are super infectious too.

And then for something that didn't really do anything in the US, we have "Chillin'" by Modjo. Generally, before EDM got coined as a term, there was no outlet for electronic dance music on a mainstream level, discounting the largely cheesy 90s phenomenon of Eurodance. Some stuff managed to peek through a little bit, though, like Modjo's own "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)," but this French duo's follow-up single that sampled from Chic's disco classic, "Le Freak," was pretty sleek too. Shame America never developed much of a taste for house music back in these times, because with our total affinity for Daft Punk now, we seem to have societally missed out on a whole lot of this goodness.

And one last song I have for you all amounts to a Mandela effect kind of thing, but in reverse, because this is a track that apparently performed pretty decently in the US on a certain mainstream chart, but I don't think that anyone either knew it existed or that they remember it at all. But let's see. Ever heard of a co-ed rap group from Philadelphia and Brooklyn called Spooks? I have, but only because I've heard them on another one of these Euro-comps before. Spooks were enormous in Europe in the early 2000s, and one of their biggest singles, "Things I've Seen," which had a retro-60s cocktail lounge-Amy Winehouse-styled beat to it, was featured in the Laurence Fishburne-written, directed, co-produced, and starring direct-to-video film, Once in the Life, and also served as the theme song to the European version of the US TV series Dark Angel. And the music video for this song featured Fishburne himself in it too!

"Things I've Seen" managed to peak at just #94 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, but it was #13 on the different Hot Rap Singles chart. And if you're an American who doesn't concern themselves with early 2000s Euro-popular music or has never seen that specific Fishburne project, then I think you're flat-out lying if you tell me that you remember this song. I feel like this thing has been memory-holed to the point of complete erasure.

So that's a little taste of the Norwegian commercial pop landscape of 2001. Didn't find anything mesmerizingly and uniquely awful here, but still ended up getting what I came for on two other critical fronts—some memory lane tunes and stuff that I've never really had much of an opportunity to be exposed to, outside of sifting my way through other releases just like this one 👍👍.

Torna - The Golden Country: Thoughts

-All unique monsters besides the gold ones defeated, full community, all affinity charts completed, full pouch item completion.

-Game looks and sounds great, though there's definitely signs of age nowadays due to pop-in and texture loading

-Gameplay is top notch, despite my complaining about certain things. Driver, Blade and Fusion combos combined with XC2's version of the Chain Attack is candy for the brain. A streamlined XC2 experience that's perfect for Torna's shorter campaign. However, I wouldn't want the same systems in the main game tbh, even the easier elemental orb stacking. I feel both systems fit their respective games just fine.

-Exploration is fun! Collection points as a whole are better than XC1's item orbs IMO, though I imagine I'll have less of a grand time with base XC2's version since there's nothing marking them there as minerals, vegetables, etc. Same thing with Field Skills, as since there's only six Blades required for the adventure, there's less to manage, but XC2 is bigger and more varied, with many more field skills to lock chests and locations behind.

-I know that the Community aspect of the game is divisive, as it locks main story progress behind it, but... honestly I don't mind. The game without its quests is extremely short, and the Community honestly adds another emotional kick to the gut by the time you get to the end. Besides, there's so few quests anyway that it's not that much of a time sink/waste.

-Story and characters made me cryyyyyy. Knowing the futures of all the Blades in the party makes a turbulence of emotions in my stomach, and Lora, Addam, and Hugo were all splendid protagonists to follow. Seeing just how great and grand Torna was (again, thanks to story, characters, and quests) really sets up the main game of XC2 well, as you'd definitely feel its presence lost.
