Could you possibly make headcannons for Alucard being affectioned and tender to his human female S/O?
And here I thought and feared I already make the vampire kind too somft! But no! You guys want more smoochie and cuddles?! YOU SHALL HAVE IT!
(Psst, always gender neutral reader unless we have something specifically related to sex and gender like a reader being pregnant, being trans, etc, just so everyone can always feel included, love ya guys)
TW: YOU ASKED FOR FLUFF AND YOU SHALL RECIEVE, mention of Alucards past
-------------------------------------------------------
Alucard Being Affectionate
He´s a killing machine who has been experimented on for many, many years. My man has gone through horrors and so much pain but with you? He can allow himself to be vulnerable. Soft. Gentle.
He can nuzzle into you, he can just take in your scent and allow himself to enjoy your warmth. Alucard is touch starved beyond reason at this point. You cup his cheeks? He sighs happily. You kiss him? Oh boy is over the moon!
At the beginning he was almost a bit shy touching you back. He was afraid of harming you. Of being too rough. But with some reassurance and some time passing by he would not want to depart from you EVER.
You have to work? Tough luck, you won´t be going anywhere. I hope you can do home office because you ain´t leaving his lap.
He´s eager to kiss and hold you, always. If you enjoy it when he´s vocally praising you or telling you how much he loves you he will just do that.
Alucard loves being wrapped around you, just nuzzling into you and sighing dreamily as if this is heaven because to him? It is. He adores you so much. You give him the feeling of peace.
He is all over you, whenever he can. Soft kisses, lingering touches. He is so soft with you that it might confuse everyone else.
The vampire purrs. No I take no criticism on that. As mentioned in previous posts he purrs when he´s content.
So just imagine the confusion when someone like Integra or Walter hear that man PURRING out of his basement. A happy little smile on his face while he´s holding you so tightly against his chest that it might hurt just a little.
Just tell him to ease his grip and he´ll do it but he prefers to hold you as close as possible. It makes him feel better about all this.
He loves to just stare into your eyes while telling you all the little details he loves about you. And if you don´t mind additional hands, he will totally wrap you in a cocoon of seemingly endless hands.
You can lay on his chest, listen to his purring while the space around you darkens with his shadows and he engulfs you in comfortable darkness. Little forehead kisses and soft giggles are going to fill up your space as Alucard for once feels... alive.
You need something to drink? Hungry? You want a blanket? He can BE the blanket but yes, fine, you may get your stuff. As long as Integra does not need him he would be willing to lay there for hours.
No matter if you want to sleep, just cuddle, or watch a movie, whatever you wish shall be yours little lamb.
He feels not like a predator in that moment but more like a guardian and he absolutely loves the trust you give him.
He´s going to tell you that you take such good care of him, that he´s proud of you and thankful for your presence. You´ve never seen the vampire so peaceful than when he cuddled you and displays his affection for you.

With an exasperated huff, the door to your office swings open. The Count's eyes smoldering with red power from the recent scolding from his master Integra. He closes the door firmly behind him, leaning against it with crossed arms. His gaze conveying a mixture of annoyance and subtle desperation.
"Alucard," you greet warmly, your smile a beacon of reassurance in the dimness of the room. Your gentle tone washes over him, soothing the jagged edges of his nerves. His lips twitch, a subtle indication of the internal struggle between maintaining his stoic facade and succumbing to the comfort of your presence.
In that fleeting moment, it's as if the weight of his troubles evaporates, eclipsed by the simple joy of being in your company.
As you draw closer, Alucard leans in slightly, bringing himself to eye level with you. There's a subtle anticipation in his posture, an unspoken plea for acknowledgment after enduring a particularly long and trying mission. He waits, expectant, for the reassurance he knows you'll offer—that affirmation of his efforts and behavior despite the challenges he faced.
"So pretty," you murmur, your voice carrying genuine admiration as your fingers graze against his rough features. Alucard's response is a low, rumbling growl, a sign of his approval at the affectionate gesture.
With fluttering eyelids, he inhales deeply, savoring the scent of your presence as if it were the most intoxicating perfume.
His expressions softens, the hard edges of his personality melting away as he listens to the steady rhythm of your heartbeat. "You're warm," he hisses through clenched fangs. The warmth of your hands spreads through his body like a comforting embrace, thawing the icy walls he's built around himself. It's a sensation he's unaccustomed to, yet undeniably drawn to—a reminder of the humanity he thought he had lost.
Feeling his tension melt away under your touch, you continue to stroke his jawline, marveling at the contrast between his cold skin and the warmth of your palms. You hum in agreement, your voice barely above a whisper. "You're so well trained, my vampire."
A flicker of pride flashes in his crimson eyes at your words, and his lips curl into a small, albeit reluctant, smile. "For you, maybe," he murmurs, though the hint of satisfaction in his tone betrays his true feelings.
You lean in closer, your breath mingling with his as you gaze into his eyes. "Such a good boy," you continue softly, "what can't you do, hm? So very powerful, could kill everyone in this building if you wanted to."
His growl softens into a purr at your praise, and he leans into your touch, basking in the warmth and affirmation you offer. For a moment, the weight of his responsibilities lifts, replaced by the simple comfort of your presence.
As you continue to soothe him with your gentle words and touch, the tension in his muscles eases, and he leans into you, seeking solace in your embrace.
With a contented sigh, Alucard closes his eyes, allowing himself to fully relax in your presence, knowing that no matter what challenges may lie ahead, you will always be there to support him.
And for that, he is eternally grateful.
You revel in the rare moment of vulnerability that the vampire king allows himself to display, understanding the weight of his duties and the burdens he carries as "Hellsing's lapdog." With gentle fingers, you brush away a stray strand of hair from his face, your touch tender yet reassuring.
"Rest now, love," you murmur softly, your voice a soothing melody in the quiet of your office. "I'll speak to Integra soon."
He nods in silent agreement, his trust in you evident in the way he leans into your touch, seeking comfort and reassurance. With a sense of tranquility settling over him, Alucard allows himself to succumb to the exhaustion that weighs heavily on his shoulders, knowing that you will continue to defend his name to the unforgiving organization as he sleeps.
In the quiet of the halls, the only sound that fills the air is the steady rhythm of his slow footsteps as he returns to his chambers.
These checkups being a reminder of the fragile balance between darkness and light that exists within him.
And as long as he walks this earth, you will be there to guide him, to comfort him, and to remind him that he is never truly alone.

Without You
Tumblr media
Friends…I am a Mrs. now! The wedding stuff turned my head to goo...feeling very romantic (but also horny). Sorry for the sappiness in this story, which I baked on/off over the past month. This Alucard is pretty soft with his Reader until he wants to troll.
With how important a concept virginity is in the world of Hellsing, I was surprised by the lack of virginity loss fics, especially with a partner Alucard actually cares for. So I wrote one. Your decision was made. You will not forsake your humanity in exchange for an eternity with your vampire King. On the night he was to take your virginity, there will be no going back.
“Eternity is a long time, little one.” Tags/warnings: 18+ NSFW, Alucard (Ultimate) x Fem!Reader, Vladcard x Reader, Riocard x Reader. Romance, angst/comfort, emotional sex, loss of virginity, vaginal sex, creampie, oral sex, sex marathon, slight bondage & BDSM, partial mind control, anal, snowballing (?), tiny bit of predator/prey (Alu can’t help that side of himself), AFTERCARE, Alucard uses his abilities... Words: 10441
Tumblr won't let me post the full fic even though I've seen longer fics here before. So here's the link.
An excerpt is below the cut.
Dracula was crying. It felt as though he murdered you metaphorically even if you were still living, which was foolish because the sex only solidified the fact you will never turn into a ghastly vampiric monster like him. Yet the act also represented the end of something. The dream that you might always be together. Bloody tears stained his face and the silky sheets. He held you close, squeezing you into the soft mattress as he wept silently, unwilling to let you physically part from him.
You understood. Your arms found their way around his broad back and caressed soothingly in an oval track. Salty tears fell down your cheeks as you mourned with him –you mourned the fact you won’t always be there for him.
Sir Integra gave her blessing to your relationship with her servant years ago, instructing you to take care of him because he was little more than a sobbing child. Her words were nonsensical at the time. This creature of mass destruction, a sobbing child? She had been right all along.
You kept rubbing his back while you peppered his head with light kisses. You were lost in the intimacy of the moment, but when you came to, the vampire in your arms was Alucard again, peering at you lazily like he wasn’t vulnerable just now. This was the form in which you met. You loved him as the King, but also like this. You loved him in all his forms. You pet his sinfully alluring face as he purred and leaned into your touch. He loved to be touched.
He was so beautiful it just wasn't fair. His stunning appearance and cryptic mannerisms used to fluster the heck out of you. Fortunately, after many years together, you managed to better compose yourself in his presence. Until the next time he discovered another way to pester you, as Alucard does.
The Cheshire grin told you he heard your thoughts. “I’m not reading your mind, sweet, you are telling me.” He looked too pleased with himself. You exhaled. Nothing was fair to begin with when it came to this immortal being. “Come love, join me in the bath,” you told him, making to get up from the tear-stained bedsheets when you were swept off your feet and into lean arms several feet off the ground. “Alu, I can still walk!” You laughed at his overprotectiveness.
A sound at the back of his throat reverberated as he silently drew the bath and poured in scents and products, never letting you out of his grasp while he waited for the tub to fill with steamy water. “We will rectify that by the time I am through with you.” He finally replied, lowering both of you into the water, a devious grin painting his lips.
The bubbly water level reached your shoulders. You wriggled against a toned, lanky body to get comfortable, ignoring the boner poking your rear as you enjoyed the bath with Alucard. His head was thrown back against the tiles as he felt you shift around, your vampire the image of relaxation and contentment, his long limbs hanging awkwardly outside the tub. You sighed and leaned against him, the soothing water jets the only sound in the room.
He washed you, sweat and fluids sliding off your body with each swipe of his hands. "My Queen. My love...I will protect you. Always." His voice was low, eyes lidded and rippling with intent as he scented your rising arousal.
He buried his long nose in the crook of your throat and crooned, the elixir of your blood that raced under the skin ravishing his senses. He had been obsessed with your neck since the night you met. How he loved to lick, nuzzle, and sniff your throat. Running dexterous fingers down your waist, he found slick vertical lips once more.
The vampire made his infamous landshark smile from behind you, two rows of pointy teeth glinting in the soft light of the bathroom. He lapped at the side of your jugular, a low moan sounding deep from his chest as he teased, “So tempting, love.”
You snickered, head tilting over as if to invite him in, daring him to bite as you held his head and pushed his mouth against your throat. His teeth ached with the compulsion to drink, your intoxicatingly heady aromas tickling his bestial nature…
His fangs descended, his cock twitched. Alucard growled, huffing and finally ripping away from the urge to sink fangs into your vein. “A dangerous game you play, little one.”

Yandere ABC: Alucard
Tumblr media
Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?
Sometimes he can be sweet, other times he can be teasing and the last part he can be a mix of the two.
Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?
…. blood isn't an issue for this man in fact it may be a plus.
Cruelty: How would they treat their darling?
The only time he may be cruel is with punishments but other than that it's like I said in the affection part sweet and teasing.
Delusional: How aware are they?
No delusion in this man just wants and need.
Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?
He shows and hides whatever he wants or believes is necessary so it very.
Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?
He would be amused more than anything else.
Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience?
Honestly knowing his power may be enough for his darling to fear him.
Ideals: What is their plan?
Keeping his darling with him for as long as he can even if it means turning them into a vampire.
Jealousy: How jealous are they when it comes to their darling?
He gets annoyed when his darling starts to pay attention to certain people or things but he doesn't get jealous. (But if he did ever get jealous it would end up being a violent end for whoever made him so.)
Knowledgeable: How much would they try to learn about their darling?
He enjoys learning new things about his darling so he will take his time to do so.
Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?
He will play the secret admirer route for a while until he feels that he has won their heart or something else happens that makes him feel like he needs them now. (This will mostly come when he feels he needs to protect them more than he already does.)
Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?
Compared to others he cares deeply for (like Integra & Seras) not much besides being more romantic. But compared to other humans and vampires.
Naughty: How would they punish their darling?
To get back at his darling for whatever it is that they did he does so in two ways. An example of this is if they try to run away from him, he will then prove that there is no true escape from them. He will do this by letting them run around an abandoned building of some kind and showing up around every corner while also talking in their head. The other way is proving that there is nowhere better but by his side.
Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?
Truth be told he doesn't really take anything away from his darling. (Maybe their sanity in some cases.)
Patience: How patient are they with their darling?
He takes his time with his darling seeing they have as much as time they want. (Or as much as he wants.)
Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?
He would see it as a play if they escape but if they die, he would find some way to bring them back but if he can't he will let them lay in rest.
Regret: Would they feel guilty? Would they let go?
He would feel guilty if he were to ever actually break them for that isn't what he wants to do to his darling. However, he will never truthy let them go if he can help it.
Stigma: What brought about this side of them?
His darling has a hold on him that he simply can't shake off. Not that he wants to in the end anyways.
Tears: How do they feel about their darling crying, screaming, and/or throwing a tantrum?
He will stay by them to see what they need/want now. (EX: if they wish for him to hold them, he will.) If he is the reason, they are upset, he will leave them be for a while until they calm down.
Unique: Does anything make them different from the classic yandere?
He has a lot more tricks up his sleeve than the average yandere.
Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit to escape?
He may let them believe that they have a step above him but it won't get far.
Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling?
He won't physically hurt his darling but he will mess with the mentally if it means it will get his point across.
Xoanon: How much would they worship their darling?
Just a little bit of worship but nothing over the top. (maybe)
Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?
He can get rid of anyone he wants and he likes to take his time with his darling so he won't snap per say.
Zeal: How passionate would they be? Would they be passionate enough to break their darling?
It's a strong possibility but he would never mean to break them.

Laura’s overall design is very well done. I enjoy the fact that she is on the wider set side because it relates back to her being a werewolf. The Hellsing estate is very reminiscent of the Victorian era so her dress seems like it would be something you’d see in the show. One thing I do wonder is since she is a werewolf, does she get bothered by tight clothing?
I do see the bonuses of the sleeves she has. It hides excess body hair which could be expensive to others and doesn’t look as awkward with her gloves.
Clothing that maids wore were also dependent on their status: what they did around the house, who they reported to, whether or not they appeared in front of guests.
Maid dresses don’t have any exact look for them. A lot of servants didn’t wear the exact black and white apron look unless they were facing guests. Which I doubt Laura would be doing because of her colourful personality. If she is, maybe lean more into decorating her apron with lace. Hellsing is a little more modern. In-home or maids in the city in the Victorian era had their own dresses with patterns. Darker or muted colours. Like any other woman in their class It might be nice to see Laura have some rotating outfits that show various aspects of her personality. Part of her character seems like it is learning to be gentle with others and herself. Another thing is vulnerability? It would be interesting for her to start to explore expressing herself through new ribbons in her hair, new hairstyles (maybe done by Walter like the cute father figure he is). She has had some run ins with being some ladies mysterious wolf mistresses. It might be funny and a little interesting if she wore any gifts she got from her girlfriends or even items she stole from the guys. Like how serial killers take trophies
Biggest thing I would want to see more if is her personality showing more through her design, unless you are more telling of a story of a werewolf that has a similar loyalty to the Hellsing family as Alucard does.
I like the idea of Integra complimenting Laura wearing her hair or having a certain colours on and so she continues to wear items of the same variety.
It depends on how modern or traditional you want to go. How you see your version of the Hellsing organization. My opinion on a design change isn’t towards the dress as much as it is to accessories.
I love Laura as she is tho so feel free to shoo this away.
By the gods are you aware how fucking helpful this ask is?? Not only the maid facts, but also all the things that could add onto and show her personality? Thank you so much. (Ranting below 👇)
I adore the idea of her keeping accessories from her previous mistresses and kills, that’s genius. Little hoarder goblin has a stash in her quarters full of random shit and trinkets she stole. Maybe wearing the suit of an unfaithful groom she ate (big talk coming from her after she fucked the bride) to wear on nice occasions.
Lace is a very interesting aspect! Especially since she is french, perhaps some traditional patterns from the 18th century. Lace is also delicate and ladylike, which adds onto her being a wolf in sheep’s clothing. And more english maid than french i’d suppose, since Integra is quite patriotic.
I also really like the detail of the loose clothing you pointed out! Laura is also claustrophobic, so that is definitely a plus on her design, as well as that reflecting her personality not being strict about rules or morality. Maybe some more rips and tears here and there to reflect her more wild nature. Colors might not be her thing… but a darker palette would be interesting.
And indeed, Laura isn’t allowed near the guests lest it’s for serving things if the staff is low. She’s already all glares and no smile, no need to spook the invitees any more than they already are by this strange grumbly woman pouring them tea.
As for her loyalty to Hellsing… it is at the same time complex and simple: dogs are loyal, and Laura likes Integra as a person and sees her as a prime example of the virtues of humanity, contributed also by the fact she’s fed and clothed while not having to hide her lycanthropy (to Hellsing at least). Normally she would despise someone like Integra, as she would see her as someone who’s as all bark and no bite; but seeing Integra be not only unafraid of her and Alucard but be commanding? That’s new.
Also, part of her character is absolutely learning to handle gentler things. She is muzzled, she can’t kill just anyone, she must stay docile, she can’t hurt herself or others. Integra has a tight eye on her, and Laura definitely isn’t used to actually being cared for, or having fellow monsters that actually understand her. That’s also why she’s loyal to Integra.
I also need to post about her backstory, it’s been months since i’ve been talking about it. But i tried to fit SO much psychology explaining in there, it’s difficult to make it compact (and i don’t want to make you guys read a whole novel).
Again, i will absolutely keep this ask in mind as i redesign her. Thank you so much for it.

BTS for "In This Darkness, I Have You"
Fic Specific Asks
BTS: I’ll write a DVD commentary about my personal favorite passage from [that fic]
OMG thinking about this fic for the first time since 2019. It’s been ages, so I’m just going to read through it and comment on anything that comes to mind!
So for context, the main premise of this is basically my take on the obligatory vampire period sex trope with alutegra lmfao. But specifically imagined as like a once a month no strings attached arrangement where integra REFUSES to ever acknowledge that there is like anything going on between them whatsoever. Mostly because she just can’t bear to actually unpack anything about their dynamic.
I tend to interpret Integra as just incredibly overworked and exhausted and also just. kind of emotionally stunted from having to bear the burden of acting like an adult from the age of twelve. She only knows how to compartmentalize and move on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this is obviously scene setting, leaning into the Tropes and horror angle. I always like making clear that Alucard is scary and gross lmao, and also that Integra’s super desensitized to it. This bit particularly though I also wanted to convey that he’s trying really hard!! It’s showmanship for her, he’s trying to put on a face that he thinks she expects and will be into.
Tumblr media
So the fic takes place over the backdrop of a storm and the power going out. I think in context of the single one shot it feels a little jarring tbqh because of how things stop about twice to address it, but this fic fits into a continuity of a longer chapter fic I never actually wrote the entirety of. (Maybe one day?) And I think more mundane asides work better in that context. That being said it’s a (somewhat heavy handed?) metaphor. Integra just automatically blames him. He’s not correcting her, but it’s also like actually not his fault, and that comes up later. Idk tying into her perception of him as just more collected and in control of things than he actually is.
Tumblr media
I’m generally very drawn to ship dynamics where one character just Can Not deal with being loved. But particularly in this case I think she just can’t like morally and ethically square it, because she feels immensely guilty for the whole… eternal servitude aspect but also doesn’t know what to do about any of it.
I think conversely Alucard truly just doesn’t care. He’s being honest when he asks if it matters. Sure, maybe their entire dynamic is fucked, so what?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is condensed to see mostly the dialogue. I had a lot of fun with this back and forth! and like Alucard as a temperamental, mercurial type.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The return of the power outage subplot lmao! The Walter cameo was fun to me though. It’s really abrupt and it shakes up the mood a lot. I love writing a very over attentive Walter, perhaps because he’s perpetually feeling guilty…
I also just have a fun time writing him as a very intense mothering type. Kind of unsure how to care for Integra, especially now as an adult where she does not need caring for.
Anyway that last paragraph is a fairly crucial misunderstanding of Alucard I think. Again she doesn’t want to consider him being emotionally involved in anything! He does lash out and like deliberately fuck with her a lot but a) this would NOT be the time b) she views it as like this is just something he does as opposed to like letting herself see why.
Tumblr media
And he plays into that perception! He’s like don’t mind me, I’m just silly!! Because admitting to genuine vulnerability is fucking humiliating and also when not in the heat of the moment, being bitter about the fact that she might like actually be grossed out by the prospect of him being in love with her, he absolutely knows that if they Have That Conversation she is going to fucking dump him entirely lmao. So he’s trying to shut the fuck up and not ruin things
Tumblr media
And yeah this just further solidifies the points I was trying to make earlier. This fic is not subtle lmao. And if it wasn’t already clear, I just really like getting into Alucard being genuinely fragile.
Generally this fic doesn’t *resolve* anything between them. I don’t think anything I’ve ever written for these characters had a real resolution or solving of problems, just because there’s too much baggage to actually solve anything. But I think they end it with a slightly better understanding of each other. And Integra still has just as many issues with it rip.
Idk if this is potentially annoying to anyone who’s read it and liked the softer ending where she asks him to stay the night regardless of the dramatic conversations. But uh…. in the larger continuity that this fic falls into she’s absolutely going to start avoiding him after this lmao. Which Alucard, in turn, is not going to take well! They’re very dysfunctional.
Which isn’t the complete end of the romantic relationship either, because their boundaries are atrocious. But yeah this fic is def not the end/entire scope of that conflict.

Hello! Do you think Alucard is prideful or stubborn? Would he admit wrongdoing or apologise when he is wrong?
I don't think "pride" as humans generally understand it is the word for what Alucard has. He definitely has some sense of shame, yet I don't think his opinion of himself changes based on most people's opinion of him. He doesn't seem particularly proud of himself, so I think he just prefers to be the one to decide if and when his worldview is challenged and influenced.
Take for example after however long of telling Seras to feed and then offering his blood to her in Ireland, and she continued to refuse what he considered a no-brainer solution to a problem. By the time he sees her get upset in Ireland, he effectively thinks out loud "maybe the world has a place even for a vampire like you". But in Rio, when she's distraught that he killed those human troops, he insists it's the only way. When she challenges this and refuses to back down, he shuts down. I think him losing his temper was because he was just set off by the one soldier shooting himself in the head. I think seeing he'd crossed a line by making her cry was enough for him to bring himself down from a 10 to a 2. Do I think he regretted raising his voice with her? Yeah, just because I like to think so. But either way, but I don't see him bothering to argue with someone if he knows they won't agree with him. I don't think it would take him long to be like "Okay. Whatever you say." He's not insecure enough to need their validation and agreement.
Anyway, throughout the whole series he NEVER apologizes to Seras for being an asshole. But then he does apologize to Integra a couple times, with different degrees of feelings expressed behind his apologies. Both times that come to mind were him expressing regret that he couldn't stay with her, and then later that he wasn't able to get back soon enough.
It's hard being faced with the reality that you ought to be old enough to NOT do something you'll regret, but somehow you wind up doing it anyway. Nobody likes to feel like that, and expressing shame in an apology leaves one feeling raw. I think even Alucard avoids acknowledging that kind of thing with someone he isn't comfortable being vulnerable with.

My... failed? I guess I'm not as nimble as I used to be. My name is Walter C. Dornez, butler of the Hellsing family and former Master Vampire Hunter!
History
Walter C. Dornez is the butler of the Hellsing family and a former Master Vampire Hunter. When he was young, he fought Millennium alongside Alucard and was much more vulgar than he is in the present. Walter eventually betrays Integra and the Hellsing Organization and trades his humanity for vampire power in hopes of fulfilling his lifelong dream of defeating and destroying the vampire he once fought.
Name: Walter C. Dornez
Verse: Hellsing
Male gender
Age: 69 years
Classification: Member of Hellsing, Butler, Former Master Vampire Hunter, Member of Millenium and Artificial Vampire
Powers and stats
Name: Walter C. Dornez
Tier: 8-B | 8-A
Powers and Abilities:
Superhuman Physical Abilities, Martial Arts, Weapon Mastery, String Manipulation (He can use his strings to tear his opponent apart or even cut through large structures with ease), Force Field Creation (He can create a shield of strings to defend himself), Regeneration Denial (High-Low, completely ripped Alucard apart without him being able to regenerate) and Body Puppetry (He can put his strings inside people to control them and make them fight for him). Fear Manipulation Resistance (He was Unaffected by Alucard's presence causing fear to everyone around him)
Intelligence: Prodigy. As a former Master Vampire Hunter, Walter is extremely well versed in the supernatural and can cut through the undead with ease despite his aging body. He is privy to all the secrets of Hellsing and is a skilled actor and liar, orchestrating the attack on the Hellsing family and masking his betrayal until the moment he brazenly admitted it to his master and Alucard himself. In addition, he is also a skilled gunsmith, crafting custom firearms that became weapons of choice for both Alucard and Seras Victoria, each one tuned to perfectly match the attributes of its wielder. After being rejuvenated, he showed even more skill with his cables, forming shields strong enough to stop Alucard's bullets, dragging Luke Valentine and the Hound of the Baskervilles around like a puppet. and slowing its descent by sticking its cables into the surrounding infrastructure. With these techniques he gave Alucard a great deal of trouble despite the rapidly deteriorating condition of his body.
Weaknesses: When he is a vampire he is vulnerable to sunlight, silver and blessed weapons.
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
Wire Shield: Walter forms a web of wire mesh that is strong enough to completely nullify Alucard's Casull rounds.
Wire Marionette: Walter inserts his wires into another living being, allowing him to control their bodies like a puppet to use against his main target.

Getting into Hellsing proper as an adult is really funny. All my friends read it in middle school, and I kinda didn't understand the hype cus the art style gave me "hentai artist turned serious writer" vibes, which very rarely turns out well narratively, and all I knew about it was that Alucard was depressed and horny and all my female friends had a crush on him, which was not something I cared about as a 13 year old boy. I find Alucard a lot more interesting as an adult (and goddamn if his role as the male Trump Card of this ruthless vampire hunting organization and his contrast with his more...submissive and vulnerable side around Integra isn't the coolest shit ever), but I still stand by the belief that he's not even the most interesting character, he's absurdly powerful, charismatic, and fun to watch in random settings cus you always know he's gonna turn someone into a cherry smoothie by the end of the interaction, but not my favorite character by a longshot.
By the end of my watch, my favorite characters were hands down, Anderson, Integra, Maxwell, and Walter. Their backstories and positions in the drawn out war were the most interesting to me, and I especially thought the Iscariot branch of the church was the most fascinating organization in the show. Anderson sacrificing his humanity for one more chance at taking down a vampire, just cus his faith in god and purpose were that intense, watching the guy get really solemn and emotional after basically having to put down his own son for rising to fascism (imagine raising a little boy who's clearly very ambitious and power hungry from the jump and just having to sit there stony faced while he gets eaten alive by ghouls yelling out "ANDERSON PLEASE HELP ME I DON'T DESERVE THIS", like holy fucking shit. It's like watching the parent of a school shooter sit there while their kid has to pay for his crimes against humanity) gently carrassing his head in his lap and shutting his eyes and murmuring about how stupid he was to try to carry out a fuckin. 1500s esque Catholic crusade in 1999, dropping an "I wish I'd been born a force of nature so I never had to feel anything like this." Like fuck. The whole time you think the guy is just your standard raving Catholic old guy with cool weapons and cool hair and a badass coat, then you realize he's kinda spent the last 30 years raising these people he's fighting alongside as if they were his own children, and then sending them off to war. I'd be fucking crazy and bloodthirsty too, after all that.
Then you have Integra, whose position as the only female with a knight title in an organization full of old white dudes is pretty much the entire core of her character. But she carries herself with such confidence and toughness that you wouldn't guess it bothered her at all. She kicks a lot of ass and barks orders with no hesitation and takes very good care of her men while else holding them to realistic standards and not tolerating any slack or backtalk, and deals with most problems that would make even the biggest strongest dudes shit their pants with total apathy and control. It's so cool and incredibly attractive inspiring. I guess there's little else to be expected from a lady who lost her dad and almost got killed by her uncle within a 24 hour span when she was like, 9 or 10, an experience like that will definitely put hair on your chest. And the twist at the end with Walter brought me from "oh, cool old guy" to "INSANELY cool old guy". The whole time the guy was just as crazy-- if not more crazy by virtue of betraying queen and country and holding all of that fury in for as long as he did-- as anyone else who worked for that organization, he was just way better at hiding it. And it's not like his motives were unjustified; I mean, everyone is scared of being old and useless and forgotten a little bit, everyone always feels like they have something to prove, he just actually had the balls to act on it. Hellsing takes a lot of questions and aspects of humanity's biggest flaws and the human condition and kinda just. Leaves you to your own devices to decipher what it all means. It's so dope.

Integra(Hellsing)
First impression: "Badass girlcrush acquired" with "sexiest voice ever" (Yoshiko Sakakibara) when I watched the original Gonzo show, but I was familiar with scans floating of the manga too.
Impression now: Hellsing isn't the deepest show, it's all flash over substance, but I recognized Hirano's Dracula franchise tributes (originally written for the anniversary of the novel in the 90s) and I became utterly smitten with Integra and Hellsing in general, in particular the manga. I roleplayed Hellsing characters for years (with a big cast of friends), wrote over one hundred fanfiction (most AU'ed by now), ran communities and moderate forums, joined the translation projects, etc. Hellsing was a passion and Integra was my favorite character and muse. She was the girlboss before this became kind of a meme. I've always appreciated how shoujo-esque her background is within a seinen. Wealthy orphan noble daughter with a vampire pet who served her since she was a teenager. Integra and Alucard are kind of responsible for my Master/Servant fetish in pairings and relationships, in a way. There are many girlbosses now, but Integra is eternal. I appreciate how Hirano didn't ever try to humiliate her for being the one in control (this sadly doesn't happen in the Gonzo TV show, where they had two close calls sexual assault on her, and stripped her out of power). Hirano managed to make her show her vulnerable side, making her grow in her position of leader (in the manga only) from inexperienced beginnings during the crisis to more in control without punishing her for being the dominant party, he rewarded her. She ends up in her rebuilt mansion, with her loved ones, instead of betrayed and handcuffed in jail (Gonzo).
Favorite moment: Alucard (with his appearance when he was Vlad III) kneeling to Integra surrounded by a forest of impaled foes in the background, volume 8, while they greet each other fondly in the middle of a wrecked London. This is peak courtly love:
Tumblr media
Idea for a story: I wrote like 100 Hellsing fics. I've exhausted my ideas of a story already. Besides the manga ended on such a perfect note, I didn't need to add more. It was one of those "When all is said and done" moments.
Unpopular opinion: Back when Hellsing was ongoing, my "unpopular opinion" was that Integra would never marry to "continue the family line" because she doesn't care about that. It's not her "duty as a Hellsing" (gross). She doesn't trust easily to open up to a stranger. Guess who was right and understood her character? Oh, I also think she's more "traditionally feminine" than Seras Victoria in the manga.
Favorite relationship: with Alucard. I've been a big Dracula fan across media: Universal movies, comics, Hammer horror, all types of spinoffs, musicals, etc. There's no other character I've actively shipped with any version of the Count than Integra. They are perfect together. I don't mind when he has a love interest, but that doesn't mean I care about that romantic angle or the relationship until Alucard and Integra came. They have such a complex, appealing, sexy connection. It's not the typical "light in the darkness" where only he's affected, but a clash where both changed by their relationship. Before Hellsing, "Dracula's potential human love interest" fell into these two types of relationships. The first was the Good and Wise woman who can change his ways or tame them (think Lisa of Castlevania, as one of the best examples) or the target he'll seduce/fail to seduce (usually Mina/Lucy in the movies or their clones). Integra is none of this. That's why their ambiguous relationship was so appealing (it doesn't mean I didn't like the others, just that I wasn't that much of a shipper). She has his leash, and he loves it. He kills, and she orders it. That's why it worked for me in a way no other clicked before. Because she likes him who kills and impales people for her, she's not enamored with this potential "good man" he could be or a lie he represented himself to trick her. She likes, understands, and accepts him, and he commits his Dracula-ish actions but as a "noble demon" warlord to his lady. He kills as brutally he did, but to protect his land as he used to do as a mortal man. Integra combines what Alucard lost in the past: a divine master he devoted to serving (Vlad-God), and the woman he failed to get (Dracula-Mina). When they reunited, he finally can be at peace because she, unlike them, never abandoned him. Plus their UST is sexy as hell.
Favorite headcanon: Her mother belonged to a royal family from India.

Hellsing Ch. 70-76
Tumblr media
I guess anything I say here is a spoiler, so yeah, this is “Heart of Dreams”, “Relics”, “Heart of Iron”, and the arc “Finest Hour”.  Oh, and “Lunatic Dawn”.   Gotta lotta ground to cover.    Treacherous ground.
Tumblr media
Not a whole lot to say about Anderson’s death.  He tried to become a monster using one of the Holy Nails from the True Cross, and then Alucard defeated him anyway, once Seras gave him a little help and a reason to go on living.   Alucard was pretty upset about Anderson’s demise, but Anderson says a few soothing words, and reminds him that Al only became a vampire because he couldn’t stand being a human, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense for him to cry now.
So yeah, as determined as Anderson was to kill Alucard, he’s a pretty good sport about losing this fight, and he seems to genuinely pity the man.   He wonders how long Alucard will go on living with his regrets, and Al replies “Until my expansive future shatters my expansive past.”  So, if we want to take that literally, I guess he’s trying to find redemption by being a good guy to make up for his years as a bad guy.   Well, he’s been a vampire for 523 years, and a servant of Hellsing for 101 of those years, so I guess maybe he figures if he trucks along for another 321 years that’d balance the scales?
Tumblr media
And maybe I’m finally starting to appreciate some of the complexities of Alucard’s character.   The Team Four Star Abridged series spent some time on his desire for redemption, but I couldn’t tell if it was based on the original material or something they came up with for their own version.   For instance, the Abridged!Alucard rejected the forgiveness offered by God himself, but later Anderson spoke of his desire for redemption and Alucard didn’t dispute that.    It seemed contradictory to me at the time, but the manga does seem to support that.    As Vlad Tepes, he refused to ask God for anything, preferring instead to fight and drive himself and his followers to the limits of endurance and decency as proof of their faith.
I find that idea heretical, because it suggests that a person can “earn” God’s favor, or God’s forgiveness, or a place in heaven.    Arguably, Anderson tried to do the same thing, but I think he was coming more from a place of doing zealous deeds out of gratitude for the Lord’s grace, rather than trying to earn anything he didn’t already have.
The difference with Alucard is that he seemed to be really wrongheaded about his faith, trying to use violence to become a good person.   Then it didn’t work, and he became a vampire, devoted entirely to his own selfish desires, and I guess he’s spent the 20th Century realizing that he’s back where he started, trying to fight his way to redemption, only now he has centuries of red in his ledger instead of mere decades.
Oh, anyway, while this is going on, Integra takes a sword and stands it upright so it looks like a cross to mark Anderson’s death.   It’s like this quiet sign of respect.   I’m not sure whose sword that is, but it looks like the one Alucard was using in his Dracula persona.
Tumblr media
Anyway, fuck all that, because Walter finally shows up and stomps the ashes of Anderson just as everyone was having their final farewell with the guy.  Rude.
Tumblr media
Young Walter just looks kind of stupid to me.  Why is he still wearing the monocle?  He’s trying to be 14 and 69 at the same time and failing at both.
Tumblr media
Seras asks what Millennium did to him, but Walter makes it clear that this isn’t some brainwashing trope.   He’s doing this of his own free will.
Tumblr media
He also doesn’t consider himself loyal to Millennium.    They turned him into a vampire, but he’s doing this for himself, and he’s only cooperating with them because their goals are in alignment.
Tumblr media
Yumiko Takagi tries to kill Walter for... Was she mad at him for stomping on Anderson’s remains?    I mean, Alucard’s the one who actually killed Anderson, so shouldn’t she be mad at that guy?
Tumblr media
It doesn’t matter, because Walt just slices her into pieces with his magic filaments.    Now Heinkel Wolfe wants revenge, because she was her long-time partner in assassin stuff.   The TFS Abridged series implied that they were lovers, too, which seemed authentic at the time, but I’m not sure there’s any confirmation to be found in the manga itself.
Tumblr media
But before she can take the shot, the Captain shows up and shoots Heinkel in the face.    Like, through one cheek  and out the other, and the only thing saving her from serious injury was that she happened to have her mouth open at the time.
Side note: I caught myself referring to Heinkel as “him”, which frustrates me because I’ve known she was a woman for like five years now.    When I first watched the OVA, I was confused, becuase I could tell it was a female voice actor, but maybe that just meant he was really young, like with Schrodinger.   But the Hellsing Wiki set me straight, or so I thought.    I didn’t think I’d still be making this mistake.
On the other hand, Yumiko sometimes looks a lot like Goemon from Lupin III, so her wearing a nun’s habit isn’t as heteronormative as it might seem.  I’m getting off-track.
Tumblr media
You’d think this would be leading up to some big double-team on the Hellsing group, now that the Iscariots are out of the picture, but the Captain’s only stopping Heinkel so Walter can have a clear shot at Alucard.    That’s the sole reason Walter turned traitor, you see.   He wants to fight Alucard and win, and for the last 55 years they’ve been on the same side.
But is that all it is?   I never got to read or watch “Hellsing: The Dawn”, the prequel manga Kouta Hirano created after Hellsing.  I’ve heard that it never got finished, but also an anime adaptation was released with the home video release of Hellsing Ultimate Episode VIII.  All I really know about it was that there was this time where Alucard and Walter were fighting the Nazis, and the Captain showed up, and Alucard ran away because he didn’t think he could beat that dude. Presumably, he left Walter to fend for himself?   But all three of them survived until 1999, so I’m not sure what the outcome of that was.   I always wondered if Walter held a grudge over that.   But maybe I’m reaching.
There’s also a suggestion of professional jealousy.  Walter was a rockstar vampire hunter in his youth, but he’s been overshadowed by Alucard, who is--let’s face it-- a living legend.  This would be doubly true in the 90′s, when Integra reawakened Alucard, and Walter having to step back even further from the spotlight.  The only way for him to reclaim his former glory would be to challenge the greatest of all vampires and win.    He’d go down in history as a traitor, but at least he’d be cemented as the absolute best.
Or... or, you can go with the TFS version, where Walter hints at his motives, only for Alucard to take the wind out of his sails and announce “because you wanna fuck me!”   And I love that theory more than any other explanation, because it just brings everything together a lot more neatly.   I guess you don’t need Walter to have had a crush on Alucard for 55 years, but it’s a lot more compelling than revenge or professional jealousy.    Those things have weight, sure, but they work better as distractions, the things Walter might admit to because they hide the deeper reason that he can’t bring himself to say out loud.
And it’s not entirely rejected by the manga.  Alucard remarks on how much more beautiful Walter looked in his old age, compared to this treasonous knockoff vampire look he’s sporting now.   The last time he spoke this way, it was when he flirted with Queen Elizabeth II.   The next time he does it, it’ll be with Sir Integra when she’s in her early 50′s.
Tumblr media
Speaking of QE2, she’s safe and sound, because the Secret Service evacuated her to a fortified location in Dover before Millennium attacked.   If things get really hairy, they’re prepared to send her to Canada, and if London can’t be secured, they’ll nuke the whole city, though the Queen is certain that Integra and Alucard will win the day.  The vampires acting as Millennium agents outside of London are being contained and destroyed, so things seem to be getting under some semblance of control.
However, the Royal Order of Protestant Knights, also known as the “Round Table” is down to just three surviving members.   Integra’s in London, but here we have Rob Walsh and Hugh Irons, reflecting on the death of their fellow Round Tabler, Penwood.
Tumblr media
This whole scene struck me as a complete non sequitur when I first saw it in the anime.  Walter’s betrayal seemed to sudden and poorly explained that it felt like the author was just winging it by this point, and now we have these two dudes struggling to provide some justification for the twist.    But reading this manga in 2021, I find that it makes a lot more sense.    We’ve already seen tons of Britons in rather lofty positions, all willing to sell out their principles for a chance to become a vampire.   Walter is no different from any of them.   It’s just more personal when he does it because we actually know the guy.
But as Walsh discusses the utter debacle of this Millennium invasion, he deduces what we’ve just learned back in London.   There must have been a traitor in their ranks, because that’s the only way Millennium could have made it this far.   I mean, they just flew a bunch of giant blimps full of rockets right into British airspace.   That only worked because they had traitors sabotaging the U.K.’s defenses and communications, and Hellsing was especially vulnerable at the same time.
The only thing Walsh can’t figure out is who the traitor was, since it had to be someone at the Round Table, but they’re all dead now, except for Integra, Irons, and himself.
Tumblr media
But Irons fills in the missing pieces.   It doesn’t have to have been one of the Round Table’s members, but someone close to one of the members.   Years ago, Irons warned Walter about Richard Hellsing.   Irons knew that when Arthur died, Richard would try to make a play for the Hellsing estate.   But when Irons’ fears came to pass, Walter wasn’t there.   It’s like he wanted things to play out the way they did.
Tumblr media
But why would Walter want events to play out that way?   On her own, Integra had no choice but to unseal Alucard to defend herself, and she’s kept Alucard active ever since.   And now, lo and behold, Walter reveals that he turned traitor just so he could take on Alucard.   It’s like he arranged for all of this to happen years in advance.   But how many years?    Fifty-five, Irons wonders.
It’s never explicitly confirmed, but Irons’ reasoning makes too much sense to ignore.    Earlier, the Major said that he decided back in ‘44 that Walter “Angel of Death” Dornez would have been a good “get” for his side.    Now, Irons is suggesting that Walter might have agreed in the same year.   So maybe Walter and the Major made a secret agreement even then.   It’s possible that they might have done it later, but why not in 1944?
I mean, the whole backstory here is that Millennium is a continuation of a secret Nazi Vampire project that Walter and Alucard destroyed in 1944.   Except they didn’t destroy it at all, which sure makes Walter and Al seem very bad at their jobs, unless Walter let them escape and covered it up.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the Captain tosses a first aid kit to Heinkel, kind of like he’s saying that he doesn’t want to kill Heinkel, but he can’t let her interfere either.   We’ll talk about the Captain later.
Tumblr media
As for Alucard vs. Walter, Al wants to check with Integra before he goes through with it.   He asks for orders, repeating his big speech from when he killed all those cops in Brazil.    Yeah, Walter’s a traitor, but he’s been a close mentor and advisor to Integra for all these years.   Does she really want Alucard to killerize his ass?
Tumblr media
Yes, she does.   If Walter stands against them, then he’s the enemy, and Integra has already ordered Alucard to destroy the enemy, no matter who (snif!) they may be.  Integra doesn’t relish this command, but she refuses to compromise over sentimental feelings.
Tumblr media
Man, fuck you, Walter.
Tumblr media
Then the Major lands his airship near the battlefield and invites Integra to come aboard and fight all of his remaining guys.    Alucard orders Seras to join her while he deals with Walter.   I can appreciate Seras’ concern here, because the last time she watched Alucard fight alone, he took a flaming bayonet to the face.   She probably doesn’t care for Integra and Alucard splitting up like this.
Tumblr media
Before she goes, she thanks Walter for all of his support, which disarms Walter for just a moment.   Man, fuck you, Walter.   Seras is so nice and grateful and polite and cool and you just go right ahead with your 55-years-in-the-making Nazi Vampire Jilted Lover scheme.  Fuck you, Walter.   You don’t deserve to be in Seras’ life.
Tumblr media
So the gals go on board the airship and Schrodinger’s there and Integra just shoots him right between the eyes without bothering to slow down.    This is maybe my favorite Integra moment in this thing.    I sort of wish Kouta Hirano had done a spin-off of Integra and Seras doing cool shit like this for 30 years.
Tumblr media
Alucard taunts Walter with the fact that he no longer gets to be a part of Inegra or Seras’ lives anymore.   It sounds kind of petty, but when you think about it, it’s a pretty sick burn.    Walter may have been planning this for 55 years, but he still had to live that double life, and it’s not like he can just say he was faking it the entire time.
Tumblr media
So they fight.   Walter’s magic wire powers seem to be amplified, either because of his restored youth or maybe the boost offered by vampire powers, or maybe he’s always been this strong but now he no longer needs to hold back anymore.  For instance, he can make mesh screens with his wires to deflect Alucard’s bullets.   And when Alucard summons that dog creature he used to dispatch Luke Valentine....
Tumblr media
... Walter just bisects it with a flick of the wrist.   You really begin to see why he was “The Angel of Death” back in his heyday.
I never understood what this dog familiar was supposed to be.   Walter refers to the Hound of the Baskervilles, but as far as I know that’s just a legend confined to the Sherlock Holmes novel of the same name.   But apparently that concept was based upon “black dog” folklore of the same region.  There’s a whole laundry list of “black dog” apparitions in Britain alone.   Black Shuck, Padfoot, Hairy Jack, Bizarro Snoopy, and so on.   So I’m not sure if Hirano is saying that Alucard was the source of these legends, or if they were all based on a single creature which Alucard eventually defeated and absorbed into himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Al tries to use the Jackal to kill Walter, but that’s kind of stupid, since Walter designed the gun in the first place.   In the anime, I thought Walter somehow triggered a bomb he had planted inside it, but maybe he used his wires to make this happen.   It doesn’t really matter, because we already saw that the Casull was useless against Walter’s defenses, and not because it had smaller ammunition.
Tumblr media
Then Luke Valentine emerges from the black dog’s body.   This part never made any sense to me, but I loved how the Major recognized him, but barely.  “Oh yeah, it’s that guy from Volume 2!    The guy with the brother.”
The doctor suggests that when the dog was killed, this allowed Luke to reassert himself from inside the dog.   Something about a “control ratio”, whatever that is.  Like, he was absorbed into the dog’s mass, but now that the dog is no longer conscious, he can think for himself again.    Notably, only half of Luke actually makes it out .   It’s like he’s half-Luke, half dead dog monster.
Tumblr media
But before he can do anything else, Walter puts his wires into Luke and starts controlling him like a puppet, mostly so he can use the dog half to attack Alucard.
Tumblr media
Alucard seems more impressed than threatened.   Keep in mind, Walter was doing pretty damn well against him early on.   You’ll notice Alucard’s missing his right arm along with one of his guns.   This is better than Anderson managed to do.   So why does Walter even need this Luke-dog puppet thing in the first place?
Tumblr media
Well, it’s because Walter’s body is giving out on him.   Earlier, when the Doctor was performing the procedure to turn Walter into a vampire, he spoke about how rushed the operation was.  I mean, he had to finish the whole thing in one night, after all.   And Walter’s a lot more powerful than Dandyman, whom the Doctor considered his finest artificial vampire work.    So maybe Walter’s just too powerful for this, and he can’t sustain this form.   The Luke-dog-thing is just to keep Alucard busy while he coughs up blood.
Tumblr media
The Major sees this development, and likens Walter to a high stakes gambler who’s mortgaged everything for a single hand at a high stakes table.   Walter’s risked everything just to tangle with Alucard, and it still isn’t enough.
Tumblr media
Alucard does manage to finish off the dog-Luke thing, and this sets him up for Walter’s next attack, and then he goes to finish him off, so things seem to be going Walter’s way...
Tumblr media
But Alucard used a decoy, disguising Luke’s severed torso as his own, all so he could sucker-punch Walter in the face.   As it turns out, Walter’s physical breakdown is making him younger, which amuses Al to no end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Alucard follow suits and assumes the form he once used when they fought the Nazis in 1944.   Yeah, say hello to “Girlycard”.   I’m not sure why Alucard looked like a 14-year-old girl during World War II.   I’ve heard this form described as a Japanese 14-year-old girl, and I can’t dispute it, but it also makes Girlycard seem even more random somehow.
I mean, I guess the idea here was for Walter and Alucard to be able to move inconspicuously through enemy territory.  No one would suspect a couple of kids until it was too late.   I’m imagining a similar scenario to the ones presented in “Cross Fire”.   Heinkel and Yumi would play innocent bystanders, then whip out their guns and swords and go ham on the bad guys.    Knowing Hirano’s style, maybe Girlycard and Young Walter operated the same way.
And this further supports the Walter-had-an-unrequited-crush-on-Alucard theory.   He might have understood that Girlycard was a disguise.  On an intellectual level he might have known, but maybe he still carried a torch, and told himself that there was some way that they could be together.   Was he just in love with this disguise, or does he love the real thing?  Alucard says that he told Walter the truth decades ago, and claims that this is the reason Walter turned traitor, so yeah, it sure feels like Walter couldn’t handle Alucard’s true nature, one way or another.
I mean, let’s assume that this isn’t just about Alucard not being a cute girl.  Maybe Walter fell in love with Alucard in all his forms, whatever that means for his sexuality.    The bigger issue is that Alucard’s a vampire, and he’s just fundamentally different from Walter, and maybe that was the problem all along.   It’s interesting to think about, but the point here would be that there was some kind of problem, and Walter couldn’t let it go.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Seras and Integra are busy looking like total BMFs.   Just HBIC’s.   What’s better than this?   Two gals bein’ pals.
Tumblr media
Hell yeah!
Tumblr media
Bad ass!
Tumblr media
The vampires on board this airship are happy to meet their doom, and Integra recalls what her father once told her about how vampires want to die on their own terms.   Seras doesn’t get it, because if they want to die so badly, they could have just died in the war they were already in fifty-odd years ago.
Tumblr media
So the Major gets on the PA system and explains to her that they want more than just a glorious death.   They want bigger, better, more perfect battlefield, so as to make their deaths as meaningful as possible.  That’s why I don’t understand that airship captain from a while back.   Everyone else in Millennium seemed to understand that they weren’t necessarily fighting to win.   Britain is prepared to nuke London if they have to, so it’s hard to imagine anyone in Millennium surviving past today, even if they won.
Anyway, as the Major explains all of this, the Captain appears before the gals.  It looks like he’s here to stop them, or is he?

Yeah, the Hellsing TV series still has my heart. I mentioned Helena last time, but there's a lot of filler characters to love, and some to hate. It's honestly as hard to judge it in comparison to the manga as it is to avoid making the comparison in the first place, because, as I mentioned, the Hellsing anime is tonally different right off the bat, being much more subdued, slow, and serious.
The TV series' ending and ideas are mostly interesting, just cut short. I'm not about to hate art for being bleak, but it's still a surprise that the chiller, filler-filled Hellsing TV would end on such a sad note. Original Hellsing, full of gore and Nazis, has a more positive ending than TV Hellsing being abandoned by their own government.
And I still can't decide if Integra would have become a vampire or not, even abandoned by the people she gave her life to protect.
In fact I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I don't find Alucard or Integra's characterizations all that different from the manga. It's more a tonal difference.
The most notable and possibly unwelcome change to Integra is the very realistic mountain of shit that she gets from the otherwise all-male Convention of Twelve (most of the dialogue actually came from the character that would turn out to be Penwood, of all people). The OVA mostly overlooked this possibility except when Irons/Islands made her kill the Hellsing Ghouls. In a way that's a relief.
I can't be angry at Integra being damselled in the last few episodes, because it's still Integra and her injury was ultra-metal, but I won't defend it either, because fiction doesn't suffer from a deprivation of female vulnerability or a distrust of it.
As for greater focus on Seras' transformation angst--I can sympathize better now that I'm older (though modern vampires make for probably the least convincing candidates, because they're the elves of the monster world).
However, Seras's angst in the TV series is a Chekov's Gun that doesn't go off. In contrast, Seras drinking Pip's blood and going sicko mode is payoff, the satisfaction of release after narrative tension. Nothing in a story HAS to pay off, but in that instance I prefer Seras with a climax to her worries.
Seras is fanservice incarnate in Ultimate, but the TV series instead choses a very real, very heavy portrayal of recurring sexual harassment and condescension towards Seras.
It is painful to see in an action series, doubled because the series has Seras working with Hellsing's human commandoes and still talked down to. It's the anti-fantasy of having power but still being treated like crap.
"Everybody wants a piece of Seras's ass" reaches its bizarre peak when Seras is stalked in her dreams by Paul Wilson, an ability that seems to bend the rules of the seris so that Seras can get an otherworldly stalker with a genuine ability to threaten a true vampire, with a very real misogynistic attitude towards his "crush".
There's a little more payoff here, as many of the men who pursue Seras end up dead, traitors, or killed by her hand. Still, it is rattling in comparison to Seras's Ultimate transformation, missing the joyfully violent power fantasy.
At least we have the barrel-bending scene, and fatherly Commander Ferguson/Fargason, who was the first time I'd heard W. Morgan Sheppard in an anime dub.
And honestly I don't expect a work to point out that resisting harassment is not a matter of being "strong enough" and that the problem is systemic rather than individual. I'd rather not have it at all.
The Rawhead Rex-looking "Bat-Freaks" and the juxtaposition of Paul's bishounen looks with his monstrous transformation would be cool under other circumstances, but his stalking of Seras is just Too Real. I asked once why the entire SAS squad would work for Incognito, but headcanon that Paul controls them as a Head Vampire, which is why he can run around in bike shorts and nothing else.
I should say there's no bishies in "OG" Hellsing, but that just sounds like a value judgement, and the debut of young Walter proved me wrong anyways. No bishies without a beautifully contorted art style, maybe.
But while Paul Wilson is the scum of the earth, I'll always have a soft spot for Enrico Stivaletti. Like Helena, he seems like he came from an entirely different vampire story, but his savage turn once awakening in the morgue suggests hidden depths, and that turning Mick might not have been as consensual as it appears. It's a lovely bit, and I'm always disappointed when lineups of Hellsing filler characters forget him.
Speaking of filler characters, Incognito's pretty cool. I'd even say that out of all the anime-only characters, Incognito comes the closes to capturing the bizarro spirit of the manga, despite essentially taking the place of the now-nerfed Anderson.
Incognito doesn't have much substance, but plenty of style. I love the Cheshire Cat tattoos, sprouting a gun from his flesh, the body horror of Helena clawing her way out of his innards.
The cheapness of the animation was so striking compared to my memories. It doesn't do as good a job as, say, Evangelion in turning its shortcomings into stylized and atmospheric representation, but sometimes Hellsing TV manages.
The music needs no introduction, but damn is it good. It's also comforting that Walter never betrays Hellsing (though his turn made sense. It was foolish, but characters should be foolish). And seeing so many Nazis hits differently these days, even if they get smoked, so their absence is also weirdly soothing.

unpopular opinions meme: alutegra sex headcanons. :D or even headcanons on that topic with them individually ~
Why am I not surprised I’m getting this ask from you XD
And sure! I’ll have a crack at all three as separate categories. Under a cut for obvious reasons.
Integra
Honestly more into women. (We all saw the blood sharing scene with Seras)
Her relationship with sex is kind of conflicted because she is averse to the abandon of it. This feeds into a need for control and composure during.
Her neck is very sensitive and she finds that hilarious given the whole master vampire hunter thing.
Kind of into roleplay but also wouldn’t want to admit it.
I do think she gets around despite that 100% virgin blood. (Once again: we all saw that blood sharing scene. That confidence does not appear out of nowhere)
Despite that, she’s also always considered Alucard as vaguely off limits. Doesn’t mean she hasn’t had Thoughts about him though. She’s stared quite a bit at his gloves and his cravat (of all things— repressed English culture has given her some interesting kinks) and hoped that he isn’t as telepathic as she’s sometimes suspected he is.
Excellent Dom.
Alucard
Prefers to be dominated but whether that actually happens depends on how comfortable he is with the person and if the other person is actually able to dominate him. (What’s the point if they haven’t earned it?)
His default is more of a service top. (I do not use dom/sub and top/bottom interchangeably because they are not the fucking same)
In the true bdsm power exchange sense he’d actually be an awful dom. Nowhere near stable enough… kind of a shitty sub too. I mean he has no idea of limits when it comes to himself. Would he ever actually use a fucking safeword? Doubtful.
All. The. Kink. Won’t list them all because we’d be here all day. Tho plenty are also nonsexual. I think he honestly prefers nonsexual sub space or pain play to actual sex.
I think he’s somewhat bored of sex? He’s increasingly turned to edge play over the years but even that’s frustrating because it isn’t actually dangerous. He’s constantly chasing this ever fading high.
Conversely the Master/servant dynamic makes him feel… a lot. Largely due to the fact that it’s real. It’s not a game he’s playing or a persona he can set aside. And again, it’s a lot.
Alutegra
I don’t honestly have a set HC for how their relationship might’ve become overtly sexual. But I can see it being either gradual enough that it’s almost unconscious— just a series of both of them crossing various lines over the course of their usual teasings.
Or alternatively very sudden and with very well defined boundaries set by Integra.
Alucard has definitely cried at least once because he got overly emotional and lovey dovey.
They’re somewhat not super compatible in that he’s like “I am 550% invested and I’m going to prove it to you right now” meanwhile she hates betraying an ounce of vulnerability. They make it work.
Things are much more chill after the timeskip. However, she’ll always have to be the adult in the relationship lol
He started out in more of a guiding role by necessity of having more experience but that didn’t last for very long. They’re much more comfortable extending the Master/servant dynamic to the bedroom as well.
When it comes to their relationship, I think Integra’s actually more into experimenting than he is.
They get a lot of mileage out of his Bondage!card form. Also the tentacles. Also that ridiculous tongue. He’s a vampire. They get creative with it. Enough said.
Sometimes if he’s been good and she’s feeling generous, he gets rewarded with a few drops of blood. Though he’s not allowed to bite.
I’m not even bothering to address the once a month period sex.

I saw you were looking for analysis of Laura's character and though I haven't been following you or Hellsing for very long, I just had to share something!
I distinctly remember this comic you drew, called "Sympathy," where Alucard brings home Seras just after turning her and Laura, a woman who acts over and over again like she's indifferent to people at best, insists on putting Seras to bed herself. Because "girls should look out for girls."
I've thought about that comic a lot ever since. It really does seem to me Laura and Alucard, while different breeds of monster with different backstories, are cut from the same proverbial cloth. (I have a feeling she'd hate being compared in any way to Alucard, though, LOL!). She is, without question, a monster, and she has long since embraced that. But it's scenes like this one that make me think, maybe she can be MORE than that?
Or maybe that's just a testament to Seras's power? She draws out the humanity in her allies, no matter how little they may have left. Thank God for her!
And bless you for creating Laura! I could learn some things from you. ^_^
This is an amazing analysis!! Thank you!! And I'm so glad you like her that much!! I hope you come to enjoy Hellsing as much as I do!
(Rambling below ⬇️)
Laura's more selfless moments are very rare, but they do appear. You can't make a pure evil character, you gotta let some stuff seep through.
While Seras has this magic ability to just make people warm up to her even if they don't want to, Laura can still recognize a fellow survivor.
She sees a battered young girl thrust into a world of monstrosity and death and survival, something that happened in a split second, and doesn't see herself but sees the suffering she went through. The least she could do is bathe, change her into clean clothes and tuck her into bed, safe from potentially dangerous hands while she's at her most vulnerable. It doesn't matter if those hands belong to people she knows and recognizes.
Laura, like Alucard, rejects the notion that she's anything more than a monster. But undeniably those two still very much retain forms of their humanity. They're capable of (rare) kindness, mercy, of recognizing a person worthy of respect. And, if you think about it, their backstories contrast as much as they're similar, with the complete loss of bodily agency and their relationship with God and their own monstrosity. This is why they're not hostile with each other, even if Laura finds him annoying. It's like two veterans drinking together.
Seras really brings those traits out of them. She's a different aspect of humanity, even if she's not human anymore. Integra represents the determination and pride of humanity, but Seras represents its resilience and the raw aspects of its emotional impacts and the importance of forming bonds and surviving and moving forward together. She melts hearts and explicitly wishes to do good. She's the only character to do so.
All in all, what I'm getting at is that as much as those two edgelords wish to distance themselves to protect themselves from the emotional consequences and turmoil of their curses, pasts and sins, that shred of humanity in them screams for a connection. And when it manages to find even a sliver of it, it clings to it with the desperation they try to hide.

Exposure Therapy [Alucard/Gender Neutral Reader]
Series: Hellsing
Summary: the “long awaited” sequel to inhuman; “... this pseudo exposure therapy meant to suture the scabbed rift that severs the burgeoning bond between you and Him. Because you weren’t the only one afflicted that day...”
Warning: body horror; mentions of a developing panic attack
In the dark space behind closed eyes is where you dwell, drawing in slow, deliberate breaths through your nose until your lungs expand to max capacity, and then gradually pushing them back out through pursed lips. It’s an exercise in composure, done in the hopes of barring your heart from its incessant lofty flutters and reigning in your mind before it runs off with itself- and oh how it wants to run.
As stubborn as the skull it occupies and twice as thick, your brain is relentless in its pursuit of diving headfirst into the depths of your psyche where a veil of writhing black shadows and glistening fangs patiently wait for a mere glimpse, the smallest window of opportunity to present itself so the trauma can swallow your anxiety whole and gnaw and chew until you’re nothing but a raw, mangled mess left for an endless audience of red eyes.
But in this moment, contained within the dark walls of sir Integra’s study with said employer standing in as something of a mediator, you can’t allow your abysmal memories and hellish imaginations to roam amok. You need to do this.
So you roll your shoulders back and lift your chin with eyes sealed shut still; when next your vision clears you want Alucard to be the first thing you see. “Okay, I think I’m ready.”
“’You think?’” A familiar baritone questions, tone clipped and pronunciation short. Something in your gut tells you that He’s just as perturbed as you right now.
Which brings to mind the precise reason why you’re enduring this psychological torture- this pseudo exposure therapy meant to suture the scabbed rift that severs the burgeoning bond between you and Him. Because you weren’t the only one afflicted that day, when a squadron of very human and very panicky soldiers mistook you for a shambling corpse and in your moment of hesitation- they weren’t monsters, after all- this unit of bullet proof vests and combat rifles perceived you a threat. A barrage of deadly, metallic projectiles fired your way, poised to shred your body into grisly confetti were it not for Alucard and His impeccable timing. That was lucky for you. However, the method of which He saved your skin rained pure hell on your simple mortal understanding.
“Are you absolutely sure, Murray?” You hear sir Integra ask, it being the first she deems her intervention appropriate since opening her office door to you tonight. “You must be certain that you’re truly ready.”
Because this isn’t just for your sake, is the unspoken line and you don’t dare to outwardly acknowledge it. The air in the room is already volatile enough, there’s no need to strike a match by dragging His vulnerability further into the light when He’s allowing you this favor. After all, He doesn’t have to forgive you or your rejection.
“I understand,” you say with a quiet voice that’s quickly succeeded by a single firm nod, “and I’m ready.”
What follows next is a moment of silence, a heavy one, the tension pulled taut like an elastic band ready to sever and snap. But when the moment trickles into two, then three, and the ticking of the old grandfather clock in the corner of the study becomes too loud, it’s only now that you have clarity of the situation.
Alucard isn’t ready.
You’ve seen this side of Him before; He’s revealed Himself to you once in all of His abominable glory, and though it was under less than favorable conditions He still posed no threat to you then, and yet you... you couldn’t handle it. Couldn’t take it. And when you fully recovered from that episode, cleared to go out on missions and be a productive Hellsing employee again, you went back on your bullshit and withdrew from Him once more- entirely far too reminiscent of when you first worked together.
The intent was to allow your mental health to sort of grow metaphorical callouses, become accustomed and then desensitized to the fact that you came face to face with the physical embodiment of His monstrous and so very negative energy- that a large group of people were killed because of your incompetence. Be jaded enough so that you wouldn’t be reduced to a puddle of anxiety and panic attacks whenever He came near.
But you never conveyed any of this to Him.
An educated guess on your end, He likely interpreted your deliberate absence as you shunning Him; you can accept Him when He’s subdued and complacent and obediently following the orders of His master, but underneath the pretty facade? When His emotions overwhelm Him and all of His terrible power outgrows His vessel and literally tears Him asunder? That you can’t accept. Again, it’s all your own unconfirmed speculation, but from His perspective you rejected the real Him.
And by scorning Him you had hurt Alucard, and that’s why He’s apprehensive to reveal this part of Himself again.
And truth be told you did reject Him, as unintentional as it was, and you should’ve found a way to tell Him that you were working past this before the silence gave an answer for you. But you didn’t and now you’re dealing with the consequence.
You have one shot at this so don’t fuck it up or you’ll lose Him forever.
Hands curl into fists until the nails dig into the meat of your palms, you feel your spine straighten out and harden and both of your eyes peel open to the sight of fear.
Alucard’s fear, complete with a furrowed brow and rigid frown and red eyes scanning the scene before Him, and judging by the way His shoulders are glued to His chair you note that He’s bracing Himself.
There’s an ache in your sternum.
You look Him in the eye and tell Him that you’re ready, and if He notices the tension of the skin around your knuckles then He doesn’t say anything.
His energy shifts.
You draw a full breath into your lungs.
The air crackles.
You feel queezy.
His body splits open like a plastic bag melting from fire.
****
Breathe.
Repeat this mantra.
Inhale through your nose, one, two, three; exhale through your mouth, five, six, seven.
A whirlwind of noise entangles all around you, of screechy scurrying vermin and disembodied howling and inhuman whining; hundreds of voices topple over each other in a cacophony of horror and discord, all vying for your recognition yet never enough to make your ear drums bleed. Still you feel your own body trying to rob you of oxygen.
Look for Him, find Him. Ground yourself. You’re in no danger here.
No.
Your eyes widen with the dawning realization in your head.
No, you’re not seeking Him out. You match the attention of a particularly large eye towards your right side and you know that He’s here. The coils of rolling impenetrable shadows, the rows upon rows of jagged teeth snapping and snarling at the air, the congregation of numerous red eyes- unblinking, ever searching- solely focused on your every move... is Him. This assembly of chaotic entropy is Alucard- no matter how much your human psyche tries to, you cannot separate the monster from the man.
Your chin quivers; and you either accept all of Him, everything of who and/or what He is, or nothing at all and you forgo the bond between you two.
Swallowing around a hard knot lodged in the middle of your throat, willing yourself to just fucking breathe despite the fact that your skin is prickling with the tell tale signs of a mounting panic attack, you gently reach out into the darkness with an open palm until your fingertips breach a smoky, far too cold plume.
To your surprise, it solidifies into cool flesh.
