Level One Actions [APOLOGIZE] - Sender apologizes to receiver before passing out. [STAGGER] - Sender starts to stagger while they walk with receiver and eventually starts to fall. [SHIVER] - Receiver notices Sender won't stop shivering, even though it isn't cold outside. [OUCH] - Receiver notices Sender subtly wince whenever they accidentally touch them somewhere. [PANIC] - Receiver begins to have a severe panic attack. [FEVER] - Sender is visibly feverish, sweating buckets and still denying to Receiver that they are sick and need to rest. [WAITING] – Receiver waits all night for Sender to show. They never do. [NUMBERS] – Receiver notices Sender has been crossing out calendar dates with shaky hands—and something big is circled. [GOODBYE KISS] – Sender kisses Receiver like it’s the last time. Receiver doesn’t realize it is. [STUMBLE] – Sender keeps messing up small things—dropping keys, forgetting names—and it’s starting to scare Receiver. [WORN] – Receiver still wears the hoodie Sender left behind. They pretend it doesn’t mean anything. [ALMOST KISS] – They get so close to kissing—but flinch back, remembering who they’re supposed to be. [ONE LAST TIME] – Sender kisses Receiver mid-fight and says, “Just this once. Then we go back to being enemies.”

Artair flinches when he hears the subtle glide of metal, and thick boots on the steps above. Every time that door has opened has... not been pretty.

He crunches into the corner like an animal, manacled arm in front of him like a meager defense. He's a mess of old blood and dirty clothes and sweat, barefoot and disarmed, with bracelets on his ankles and wrist that are perfectly flush to his skin and embedded with runes. A leather binding around his chest with metal daggers digging against his spine leaves his breaths too shallow to do more than pant. He takes in what he can from the mask contraption implanted over his face, over his mouth and nose and against his scalp and collared around his throat. It glows faintly with a pair of slow flickering bar lights on each cheek, diagonal from the nose to the ear in a deep red.

But this time no command is given, and nothing forces his arm and body to conform. Nothing squeezes tighter until his ribs ache and he feels spirals of dizzy static that cling to his vision as well. The panic doesn't ebb, but something is off, and that is enough to pay attention to what is coming, rather than prepare for pain on its arrival.

They feel familiar. And the second he sees that jacket, he seems to sink, to lose every tension in his body and sag like a puppet with the strings cut. The weariness is clear on his face, the dark circles under his eyes and the haggard, pained expression that sinks into what little features can be seen , but his eyebrows curve in the way they do when he smiles, as his fingers move to speak. It is a finger spelling of C against his mouth in a sign for water, and then a small side wave to shift it to ocean.

The way he spells Cecil's name.

"I didn't think anyone would find me." He continues, slow and jerking motions to the flow of his sign. "But I'm so happy to see you."
