Wicked, the book, feels in theory like something I could really love. Unfortunately, I did read it, and I did not like it.
#like. actually. as a writer.#'How about we treat the worldbuilding of this whacky magical fantasyland seriously?'#is actually crack for me#except the book doesn't ACTUALLY do that..#It approaches the subject with a much more cynical lens#filtered through many real world issues#but it doesn't explain shit either.#If the original book is 'Don't think about it just VIBES'#Wicked felt very much like 'Don't think about it just MISERY'#and I am so forgiving of the musical being shoddy on worldbuilding#because it is a MUSICAL#by nature built on fun vibes and not a great medium to explain wordbuilding intricacies and also very character-focused#but the book is an absolute brick and I would have LOVED a history really diving into how Oz works#except the book does nothing but start-stop; start-stop; and gets nowhere.#Nothing ever gets resolved and then Elphaba dies.#are you gonna tell me? what the fucking grimmery is about? how it works? is that gonna have any sort of conclusive story arc?#nnnnNNNOPES.#I just watched a very cool video doing this literary VS genre dissection that feels applicable here...#I was expecting a fantasy book and I got the Sad Life and Times of this One Lady

We teach our kids to read
We must teach our kids to read media too
We prioritise book literacy
but arguably most kids consume far, far more mass media, and that means learning mass media literacy.
And those skills involve everything OP talked about - critical thinking, self-responsibility, reaching out for support, asking questions about what you're seeing (and getting non-judgemental, compassionate responses that are appropriate for your child), reminders that what they see on TV is rarely real, and 'if a person kept making you feel bad, you'd tell them to stop. If a show keeps making you feel bad in a way that's not okay, you turn that show off, or you come to me or someone you trust and talk about it.'
I once knew a guy who refused to let his kids play video games. He's an Assoc. Professor and is one of the most globally respected orofacial pain specialists in the world. He said they can play when they're in their late teens because there's so much garbage in them.
And I said gently, with my Media Studies background, 'you don't have to listen to me because I'm just here for my absolutely brutal jaw pain, but with all respect, how will your kids know how to negotiate or deal with any difficult, challenging, or overwhelming themes in the games they encounter when they're 16 or 17? How are you preparing them for that world now? Or will you just throw them in the deep end? Because it sounds like you only want the best for your kids. Media literacy is really important, and violent video games are so much easier for any kid to negotiate if they have a parent helping htem out with it, instead of telling them it's all 'garbage' and leaving them to fend for themselves.'
Because he's a great human being, he asked me for a bunch of peer reviewed studies on media literacy, I sent them on over, along with a rec for the book Moral Combat: Why the War on Video Games is Wrong (seriously go read it right now) and he realised that media literacy is at least as important as book literacy.
If you know it's important to teach your kids to read.
Please know it's equally important to teach your kids how to read mass media.
I often see posts about curating your own online experience that make the point, “content creators aren’t your parents.” And, yes, that is absolutely true! And I try not to be like “as a parent,“ but as a parent…
EVEN PARENTS ARE SUPPOSED TO ENCOURAGE RESPONSIBLE READING/VIEWING BEHAVIOR. NOT filter everything ahead of time for their kid.
When my kiddo was 5, his pediatrician was asking him the usual Well Child Visit questions (“What are your favorite foods? What do you do to get your body moving? Do you know what to do if you get lost in a public place?” Etc.) and she asked, “What do you do if you see something on TV that scares or upsets you?”
I piped up like, “Oh, he doesn’t watch TV without one of us in the room,” which was true at the time and is still largely true now. She said, “Yes, but that won’t always be the case, so make sure you’re talking to him about what to do if he sees something that upsets him.”
So we started talking to him about that, and the answer is simple: “Turn it off or leave the room, and talk to someone you trust about what you saw and what you’re feeling.”
The answer is NOT “Ask your parents to make sure you never see anything upsetting again,” because that’s just not possible — and ultimately that would be doing the kid a disservice, since sooner or later he’s going to be out in the world where we can’t control what he watches or reads. That doesn’t mean we don’t try to make sure he’s watching/reading age-appropriate stuff, it just means that’s not the only safeguard he has — and that’s a good thing.
So yes, content creators aren’t your parents and aren’t responsible for making sure you never see anything you don’t like — but also, your own parents should have taught you what to do when that happens. So if they didn’t, take it from me, your internet mom:
Turn it off.
Walk away.
Talk to someone you trust about how you’re feeling.
And leave the person who created the thing that upset you alone.
#and i will die on that hill#media studies#mass communication#media literacy#media education#honestly it should begin as soon as your kids#are watching videos on TV / ipads etc.#we are sadly lagging far behind on teaching kids media literacy#and honestly - very very honestly - it goes a LONG way to explaining#the polarised non-nuanced non-critical-thinking approaches we see from all ages#in response to all information in the mass media#with the exception of folks who have learned critical thinking through other applications or awesome parents#anyway huge respect to OP for really prioritising what matters here#but it can help to call it what it is - media literacy#teach your kids to be media literate#because the media illiterate become antis and conspiracy theorists

i NEEED to be more annoying about being mixed race in public i keep forgetting how dire it is. sometimes i point out stuff in like visual culture classes about like a magazine cover with a biracial model or something and it blows peoples MINDS because the whole class forgot mixed people were real
#sometimes im like nooooo i shouldnt be too loud about it people find it annoyinggggg sometimes#but then i remember. if i dont. my white peers. i love them i do they're ready to learn and they do a lot of thinking#once you point stuff out. but by god you need to point this stuff out first LOL classmates put a lot of care and thought into all kinds of#issues but HOO baby. race is a BIG blind spot for a lot of em hfkjdjdkfh#i just get surprised is all. i didnt realize how little the average non-mixed-race person thinks about this stuff#i like to call myself whiteboy. because i think thats funny. its my internal monologue. but also i am not actually whiteboy#and i forget the real whiteboys (gender neutral?) dont know much about mixed issues hjskasjfkd#oh speaking of i guess as a quick primer: i should probably mention. i tend to call myself mixed race#just the terminology i grew up with. but in most professional and academic settings i'll use biracial or multiracial where applicable#or when referring to people who are not myself or someone i know prefers the term mixed#i dont know why i like the term mixed. maybe its just easier to say and explain LOL but yeah#not everyone likes the term mixed race so its usually better to call someone biracial or multiracial if you dont know#multiracial identities are vast and can be vastly different. one persons experience is much different from anothers#my experience is different from my older brothers and we have the same parents and look pretty alike#and our experiences are different from like. my biracial cousin who grew up in the US#and all of us have different experiences than the only other multiracial classmate ive had in years#really the best thing is to read stuff written by multiracial people. books articles blogs. watch video content#theres a lot to learn constantly even if youre multiracial yourself! lots of people on this earth. but it can be fun!#interesting and fun to connect with others by listening to their stories and experiences!

Magnetic Levitation Tech for Regular Railway Track Tested - Technology Org

Magnetic Levitation Tech for Regular Railway Track Tested - Technology Org
An Italian company has successfully conducted the inaugural test of magnetic levitation (Maglev) transport on an existing railway track.
[embedded content]
IronLev, headquartered in Treviso, Northern Italy, unveiled a video demonstration of the test at the LetExpo2024 trade fair in the Veneto region on Tuesday.
The video showcases a one-ton prototype achieving a speed of 70 km/h (43 mph) along a two-kilometer stretch of railway in the Venice hinterland. Maglev technology establishes a cushion of air that physically separates the vehicle from the track, resulting in reduced friction, noise, and vibrations.
This innovative approach has the potential to significantly cut down costs and energy consumption in the transportation industry, addressing the ongoing quest for more efficient systems. The absence of friction not only enhances the overall performance of the vehicle but also leads to substantial reductions in energy usage and maintenance expenses for both the vehicle and the infrastructure.
IronLev test run (screenshot from the official video).
While countries like Japan and Germany aspire to establish maglev networks, the challenges lie in the high costs and the incompatibility of such systems with existing track infrastructure.
Massimo Bergamasco, the director of the Institute of Mechanical Intelligence at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, remarked that the test conducted by IronLev is the first and only instance of applying magnetic levitation to an existing railway track without the need for modification or integration of additional elements.
Traditionally, Maglev technologies necessitate a specially designed infrastructure to generate a magnetic field interacting with onboard elements, facilitating load suspension. Typically, this infrastructure comprises coils made of conducting material, incurring high costs compared to traditional railway tracks.
Adriano Girotto, Chairman of IronLev, explained, that their vehicle can levitate on an existing track. He emphasized the user-friendly nature of this technology, stating, “You can imagine that this makes it an easily usable technology.”
IronLev’s future plans include developing an additional motorized trolley within a couple of years to test a vehicle capable of carrying loads up to 20 tonnes at speeds of up to 200 km/h. Concurrently, the company has already started implementing its technology in practical applications, utilizing it for the movement of heavy windows, elevators, and transporting loads within industrial settings.

you know, i appreciate the work Susan Sontag has done for people appreciating Camp and stuff but i feel like if you are still using Susan Sontag as the authority on Camp in the year of your lord 2023, using notes that were written in 1964, as if the landscape of art and our relationship to art hasn't fundamentally changed since then,,, it's like, you need to catch up babes, a lot of those points are still really relevant, i'm not saying throw it out, but like update your understandings of Camp beyond that one authoritative text that's at this point almost 60 fucking years old. Susan Sontag is not the fundamental authority on what art today is or would be considered Campy, build off of those basics, please dear gods, evolve your understanding of what Campy art today actually looks like rather than trying to apply a prescriptive label from a text that can kinda boil down to 'Camp is whatever you feel like, and you'll know it when you see it because it won't be like traditional art' because the attempt to define it is so wide, calling every non-traditional piece of art campy is fucking pointless and not how anyone is obviously using the fucking label, people are very deliberately talking about one specific feeling they get from the piece of art, and it's got very little to do with aesthetics, at least as far as TV shows are concerned (movies are a different conversation), and much more about presentation and tone and intended effects and what the whole fucking point of the piece of art actually is, which is a lot more than what is afforded to most things considered Campy, like 90% of the shit people call campy at this point is just called campy and then it's left there, because it's a "oh you can't say anything about it because it's campy" like at this point it almost functions as a conversation ender because anyone you're talking to about any aspect can just go "yeah that's meant to be that way, it's campy" and it's like. okay, where do we go from here? should the piece of art not be analyzed as a work of art? does it not deserve to be evaluated in good faith and treated like any other piece of art? i understand the urge to defend the use of the term, as like "oh we're using it because people are misunderstanding art and what it's trying to be", and as a Riverdale-truther (as in genuinely love it as a piece of art and what it says and does, it's not fucking campy i swear to god, none of you fucking know what pulp art is!), and as a TASM2 truther (best Spidey movie after ITSV, and definitely best general movie after ITSV, and i don't care what your opinion is) i understand the urge to want to defend it as camp, but like, what's the piece of art actually doing and trying to say, what are the deeper layers at play? or are you really just satisfied saying something is Campy and stopping your analysis of the piece of art there? is your soul really okay correcting someone's interpretation of a show and saying it's campy and not doing anything beyond that? what does it being campy actually change? what the fuck does it actually do for the piece of art, if the piece of art is even campy at all?
#yes i am in fact Riverdale-posting bc i saw a video essay calling Riverdale campy and talking about Susan.#james talks#anyone that tries to say 'Riverdale is good because it's bad' or 'Riverdale is supposed to be bad' is my mortal enemy actually#james rambles#DON'T READ THIS I JUST NEEDED TO GET THE THOUGHTS OUT#yes i am in fact aware i am using camp as a prescriptive label when i say don't call Riverdale campy. you're so smart. thanks for noticing!#if the implication wasn't fucking clear my point is that saying it's campy and meant to just be entertaining is doing a huge disservice—#to the actual piece of art and treating it like it's not actually trying to say and be something.#you don't have to drag people over to your side inch by inch to open their eyes! just spill your perspectives onto the floor!#the world will catch up with you someday!#you don't have to do the work of getting people to see something as campy to try to get them to see the show through a different light!#it's not even efficient bc like i said it just becomes a conversation ender bc the implication is that the analysis is inherently wrong—#because it's misunderstanding the intent in why some part of something is the way it is but like! you don't have to waste your energy—#trying to correct people (don't even try it. i am in fact deeply self aware.)!#spend more of your time trying to explain why you think it's good instead of complaining about how nobody else fucking gets it.#i get that you want more people to see what you see but that doesn't come from trying to inch them over the line bit by bit!#it comes from explaining your view and understanding of the show!#you don't have to try to convince them it's campy! just actually analyze the fucking piece of art & the people interested will flock to it!#also it's been years since i've actually read notes on camp so it's likely i've got some shit wrong bc i'm not fact-checking this rant.#but like the point isn't even really about the text but how other people use it.#and yes i'm aware this sounds inherently contradictory and incoherent. thank you for noticing. welcome to human existence.#to quote (paraphrase) Vivian Strange tho: if it exists it deserves to be analyzed.#treat every piece of art like it's worthy of analysis and respect and this goes from your fucking godfathers to your sharknados.#it goes from your fucking shawshanks to your mamma mia! to your Riverdale to your PLL to your euphoria to your whatever#anyway just really exhausting to hear people say something is Campy or meant to be bad or whatever and just stopping the convo there.#like what now girlie? where do we fucking go from here? do you have anything meaningful to contribute?#riverdale#2025 update: Vivian Strange sucks. the quote is still applicable and useful.

Her Highness Has Arrived
Another very special guest.
Hi all,
We are so, SO excited to share this special guest announcement. If you’ve watched Strange Aeons’DashCon: An Extensive Oral History video—if you haven’t, how did you end up here?—then you know her already.
Introducing, Lochlan O’Neil!
Lochlan, or Nessie as she goes by online, is DashCon’s original creator. The mythical fifteen-year-old that started it all. DashCon expanded out from under her beyond her wildest dreams (and nightmares), but we are so excited to show her what our team can do in her stead.
Also referred to as ‘The Ballpit Queen’, Lochlan came up with the original idea for having a ball pit at the con after watching a YouTube video where strangers befriend one another in an outdoor ball pit. Obviously, the final product was not supposed to be Like That (sorry). Nowadays, she channels her energy into raccoon biology, studying human-raccoon interaction and the conservation of the critically endangered Cozumel raccoon.
Apparently Toronto is the racoon diabetes capital of the world?? As such, Lochlan is absolutely giddy to visit. This explains a lot about the attacks on our green bins.
You can find her @lochnessofficial on TikTok and @racoonmilf on Tumblr.
Wait - do YOU want to learn about raccoon biology?
Calling all rabiosexuals: Lochlan is hosting her very own panel at DashCon 2! Enter the trash panda extravaganza at her panel, Rabid, AND Loving! Intro to All Things Racoon. Despite their bandit-like appearance, raccoons are truly wonderful creatures, and we have so much to learn from them!
We wanted to bring a live raccoon to the facilities to participate, but there are these annoying things called “laws” we have to follow. Truly a shame.
A Note On DashProm
For the unaware, the original DashCon held a massive dance party on the first night of the con, themed around prom. We can confirm that DashCon 2 will be having a dance party! However, the theme will be very different... and you can probably guess it; we’ve given you the clues in this post :) Theme confirmation will be coming next week!
Volunteer Applications: Still Open!
Would you like to be involved with DashCon 2? Are you a local who didn’t manage to snag tickets? Do you want to keep vigil over the ball pit? Volunteering is the best way to get involved with the in-person DashCon 2 convention! You can apply now through this form, or learn more on our website!
All regular volunteers will be assigned to at least one 4-hour shift between 7 AM and 11:30 PM on July 5th, 2025. This shift includes one 15-minute break, which will be taken at the Volunteer and their Team Leader’s discretion. Volunteers must work for at least 4 hours to receive a ticket for the convention.

Well. I have a feeling I'm about to have a million new followers. (March 31st, 2025; not an April Fool's joke, unless Nanowrimo has very poor taste and timing)
youtube
Here's a link that explains in long video format the whole entire thing in detail:
youtube
and to sum it up:
This blog was made as an Anti-Generative AI to Nanowrimo, as well as a way to actually build a friendly, low-pressure, helpful community of aspiring writers, without the hard-fast-do-it-or-die pressure brought on by nanowrimo.
There is no official "contest" -- only a community coming together to inspire each other to write, help out with motivation by setting community goals, keeping participation motivation via Trackbear.app, etc!
The most popular writing challenge is still November for most people, but I myself have also started to keep a year-round, daily writing goal of 444 via the website 4thewords, which has been an extreme help in getting me to write a little at a time.
This year has been very hectic for everyone what with the election results so I haven't been very active on tumblr (I think everyone can understand that) but I was originally planning on also having each month of the year being a different themed writing / art challenge but got a bit distracted real life.
So, what is the Novella November Challenge?
It's a fun challenge where writers come together to write 30,000 (or your own personal writing goal!) words in 30 days, sharing tips, writing advice, plot ideas, accessibility aids, and committing to having fun while explicitly fighting back against Generative AI by using our own words and disavowing the use of scraping and generating to take away the livelyhoods of artists of all spectrums, and proving everyone who insists "generative AI is an accessibility tool" wrong by committing to our creative visions and making it easier for everyone to find the tools they need to succeed by sharing tips, free programs, and finding a like-minded community to support you! 💙
There is no official website, there is no required place to show your participation, this is a community initiative that will never be monetized by predatory sponsors or dangerous moderators abusing their power.
This blog is here to inspire everyone, regardless of experience level, to write and create the story they want to tell, in their own words, while striving to remain a fun, low-pressure challenge that doesn't turn into a stressful spiral, like often happened with Nano.
Want to start writing but not sure how? Don't have money to spend on expensive writing programs? Have no fear!
LibreOffice: An always free, open-source alternative to Microsoft Word (and Microsoft's other office suits)
4Thewords: A website (both desktop and mobile web browser) that syncs your writing cross platform to the cloud, with built-in daily word goals, streak tracking, and you can fight monsters with your word count to game-ify writing!
Trackbear: A website dedicated to tracking your writing, setting custom goals, and creating leaderboards for community participation; you can join the year-long community leaderboard with the Join Code "f043cc66-6d5d-45b2-acf1-204626a727ba" and a November-limited one will release on November 1st as well.
Want to use Text to Speech to dictate your novel?
Most modern phones have a built-in option available on your keyboard settings which can be used on any writing program on your phone, and most modern PCs that allow a microphone (including headphone) connection has some kind of native dictation function, which you can find by opening your start panel and searching your computer for "Speech to text" or "voice to text".
Want to write while on the go, but don't want to / can't use the small phone keyboard to type, or speech to text?
You can, for as cheap as $40, buy a bluetooth keyboard that you can pair with your smart phone or tablet and use to write in any and all writing applications on your phone -- this allows you to write on the goal (especially using cross-platform websites or services, like 4thewords or google docs) , and the small screen can also help minimize distractions by muting notifications in your writing time.

‘Jacked and Kind’ Trend with Logan.
•
Requested by: @pegging-slenderman
Pairing: Fem!Reader x Logan Howlett
Synopsis: You do the jacked and kind trend with Logan.
•
Hey guys sorry for my absence I fell sick with the flu and was suffering immensely…..I’m back now but I will probably get supper busy soon so I’ll start to post once a week rather than a few times like before ❤️ thank you so much for all of your love and kind attention! Please to all the other people who have requested things for tangerine and Bungo stray dogs I am working on ALL of them! Please keep requesting.
“Who’s jacked and kind….” When the audio from Sabrina Carpenter’s song broke the silence in you and Logan room for the first time, your boyfriend didn’t pay too much attention to it, peacefully reading his book as he held his cigar in his mouth, the lazy smoke twirling from the burning tip wrapping around Logan’s head. The second time he barely registered it as well. He was too focused on the intriguing plot hidden in between his pages. The 10th time the little snippet of the song sounded, however, Logan could not help but shoot you a glance. You were curled under the bedsheets, facing him as your hand gripped your phone tightly, the light of the videos you were watching dancing across your face. As he observed you, the same few words kept repeating over and over again, the sound finally starting to irk him.
Logan sat his book down on the nightstand, as he slipped the cigar out of his mouth, deciding to hold it between his fingers. “Princess,” he asked, tapping the excess ash in the ashtray precariously balanced on his thigh. The silver dust peppered the once pristine surface, looking like the stars that flecked the night sky. You looked up at him, finally pausing the sound that was jackhammering on Logan’s nerves. “Why have you been playing the same thing over, and over, and over, again? I mean I get liking a song but just 3 seconds of it? A little bit excessive, bub.” He grunted, massaging his temples with his cigar-carrying hand, not minding the ash that delicately sprinkled on his flannel.
You looked down sheepishly, scratching the back of your neck. “Sorry, Logan. It’s this popular trend and I’m kind of obsessed with it.” You explained.
When Logan heard the word trend, his mind shot back to that long April afternoon when he had made the mistake of asking you what TikTok was, as the students in the X mansion seemed to be obsessed with it. You had excitedly sat him down, and explained everything to him for hours, specifically what certain words meant in the specific context of this application. Your eyes sparkled when you talked, and when you had suggested he should download it, Logan had simply barked out a laugh, before looking at you with a smirk. You had sighed, knowing you had lost the battle even before its tentative start.
“Trend,” Logan whispered to himself, remembering you had explained to him that it meant a certain type of video was in fashion for an indefinite amount of time.
“Yes, trend,” you echoed back.
“What’s this one about?” Logan asked, setting the ashtray with the cigar in it on his bed side table. He turned to look at you, wanting to give you his complete attention.
“Well, it’s a song from a singer. She basically says she wants a man who’s jacked and kind.” You explained. Excitement coloring your movements, making you sit up as your hands danced all over of the place, narrating a story with so much detail your boyfriend could almost see it. Logan could do nothing but admire you, his love-drunk heart hanging from your lips as if it were his life-saving medication. You barely noticed, continuing with your explanation. “The trend consists in a woman mouthing the words and right as the audio says ‘jacked and kind,’ the boyfriend, who is standing behind her, will pick her up and place her on his shoulder.” You said, grinning widely. “It’s just so cute and romantic to see the girls sitting so prettily on the men’s shoulder, while he looks so smug he could lift her up. It’s just,” you sighed dreamily. “So perfect.”
You hastily unlocked your phone, turning the screen towards him. “Look at it!” You said, as you shoved it in his face.
Logan observed the various couples do the trend for a few seconds, blinking for a few seconds to adjust to the bright and sudden avalanche of images and sounds. He then lifted his gaze to you. “I don’t see the excitement you see in it, but sure.” He shrugged, going back to take his cigar.
You cuddled back down on the bed, going back to swipe, sighing again, this time with a tinge of sadness. “God, I wish I could do this trend.” You murmured, speaking your thoughts aloud.
“Yeah. Sure sucks to be single.” Logan joked, looking at you with mirth in his gaze.
“That’s not what I meant!” You said, hitting his thigh. “I don’t want to tire you out.”
Logan turned to stare at you, his cigar barely hanging from his lips. “What, you think I’m that weak?” He said, his voice, even if possessing a lilt of a joke, betraying some sort of self consciousness.
You hastily inched closer to him. “No, no. I don’t think you’re weak, Logan. I’m just afraid I’d be too heavy.” You admitted, gesturing to yourself.
“[Y/N], I have a skeleton made of adamantium. You will never be too heavy.” Logan said. He noticed the evident skepticism tricking in your eyes, as sedimented as concrete. “No that’s it.” He said, sliding off the bed. “Get off.”
You stared at him in confusion. Logan looked back at you, raising his eyebrow. You hurriedly got off, standing in front of him, still confused. “What…are you doing?” You asked, as Logan took off his flannel, remaining in just his wife beater. Your eyes, entranced by his bulging, delicious-looking bicep, only managed to reluctantly trail to Logan when he started speaking.
“We’re doing this trend, princess.” Logan said. He leaned down, grabbing your phone and unlocking it. “Here,” he handed it to you. “Set up that TikTok thing or whatever so we can do this. I’ll show you. You’ll win this fucking trend.” He grunted, a twinkle of ambition evident in his confidence stance.
You clasped your phone in your hand, a smile gracing your lips. Pure joy twirled in your eyes, and Logan could have sworn he fell in love with you all over again just because you looked so happy. You threw yourself in Logan’s arms, melting in his embrace. Without even thinking, your boyfriend hugged you back. “Thank you. You always know how to make me feel better.” You spoke into his chest, your voice muffled.
“It’s what I’m here for, bub.” He said, caressing your head before he loosened his embrace. “Now, come on. Let’s do this.” You squealed happily, setting up your phone.
“I pick you up when the song says ‘jacked’, right?” Logan asked.
You nodded. “I’ll jump a bit before that so you can pick me up.”
“Don’t jump.”
“What? How will you manage to put me on your shoulder?”
“Trust me, princess. Don’t jump.” You eyed Logan wearily, but he simply grinned back at you. Unconvinced, you pressed the button, starting the timer.
You ran back to his side, waiting. The second Sabrina Carpenter’s voice filled the air, you mouthed along the lyrics. Right before she airily sung jacked, you had to restrain yourself from jumping, as you anxiously wondered if Logan could pull it off. His warm hands wrapped around your waist, and your heart dipped: either you would get the biggest confidence boost or your self esteem would be utterly destroyed.
Logan started lifting you up. You tried to keep a poker face, fearing you would tumble back to the ground and completely shatter. But nothing like that happened, and Logan picked you up easily, setting you on his shoulder, his bulging muscles making your seat comfortable, and not a tight fit at all. Almost in shock, you finished mouthing the words, while Logan smirked at the camera. The second the video stopped recording, you looked down at your boyfriend in disbelief, finding him to be looking up at you. “Told you. You didn’t even have to jump.”
“Logan, oh my god. You lifted me liked I weighed nothing.” You gasped.
“Because you don’t for me.” Logan said, feeling his chest thump with pride when he saw the rose-red blush dusting your cheeks.
You coughed, not meeting his warm eyes. “H-hey, I’m still up here!” You cried, your words tripping over each other as you clumsily tried to move the topic of conversation to something also.
“Lemme fix that.” Logan said, his voice the note of mischief lurking in his voice.
When Logan’s grasp tightened around your waist you would have thought he would gently set you on the ground. His other hand went to hold your knees instead, and you gracefully slipped from his shoulder into his arms, being carried liked the bride Logan hoped one day you would be. You blinked, looking at him in disbelief. “Logan…what -”
You were shushed by a kiss. He pressed you close to his body, your arms loosening from around his neck and threading through his hair. Your other hand slid down his bicep, squeezing it, digging your nails inside his skin. Logan didn’t quiet the loud moan that erupted from his lips. You whimpered, opening your mouth to let him slip his tongue inside.
You pulled back, shuddering, your voice silky with desire. “If we keep going, you’ll be fucking me standing up soon.” You joked, leaning against his shoulder.
Logan looked at you, raising his eyebrows teasingly. “I’m not….completely….against the idea.” He murmured. His warm hand sliding from underneath your knee to your thigh, squeezing it.
You whimpered, throwing your head back. “I’m not complaining either.”
“Great. Afternoon activity secured.” Logan smirked. You laughed, nuzzling against your boyfriend’s very, very sexy neck.
Needless to say, the ‘jacked and kind’ trend had led you to discover a new position that soon became one of your favorites.

a year long situationship that led you to key your ex's car gets resurfaced when the two of you attend a popular youtube show
sim jaeyun x reader
genre: angst, heartbreak, exes reunited
warnings: profanity, toxic relationship, mentions of drinking, lying to your partner, mentions of insecurities, 18+ not proofread lol
masterlist - wc: 4170
your mind was occupied with the hundreds of questions you wanted to ask jake, most of which were rhetorical questions where you just found the opportunity to cuss him out for the way he treated you, but you knew that the staff on set probably woulnd’t let you do that.
so you tried to focus on the questions that would lead you to getting the answers you wanted. why he treated you the way he did when his words would be the exact opposite. this year long rollercoaster of situationship with jake not only brought you to the highests of highs but also the lowests of lows.
rollercoaster was an understatement on how unpredictable, unstable, and emotional the last year has been.
jake played with your emotions and as hard as you tried to get off that ride, you were strapped in.
when you saw that this youtube series was doing a casting call for ex-couples, you jumped at the opportunity to send in an application for you and jake; and when the two of you got accepted, you told jake that he needed to go somewhere with you for a recording, explaining that it was something you had signed them up for before they broke up and he just forgot about it because he never listens to you.
to which he responded with a smart comment about how you just think he never listens but “he does”, you rolled your eyes at him and told him the details. that was a month ago and now here you were sitting in your car at the recording studio lot, trying to hype yourself up to face the boy you had an unofficial official relationship with for the last year.
three months isn’t a lot time for some healing to have made its way to you since the breakup, if you could even call it that because you ended up just ghosting him, but you figured that since you were here now, there was no point in backing out and you’d finally be able to ask jake the burning questions you’ve been storing inside of you.
when you walked inside, a nice staff member tells you how the filming was going to be done and it was quite simple. you’d introduce yourselves and the interviewer would ask the two of you questions, in hopes for you to get the answers you may be looking for.
although you wanted to ask jake your own questions, you thought it was only fair that they came up with the questions themselves to avoid any drama or unwanted conflict to occur.
after a few minutes of waiting inside of the green room, the same staff member pops their head into the room to let you know that your episode would start recording soon. they have you stand on a marker on the right side of the room, a wall separating you from the main set where you can hear jake speaking and introducing himself. his australian accent is as thick as ever, trying your best to bite back a smile when you hear his laugh.
when he’s finished, you’re instructed to walk to the x on the floor and introduce yourself, much like how jake had just done. as you walk onto the set, you see jake sitting there, his head rising to look in your direction and a smirk is instantly plastered onto his face; like he found it so amusing to see you. or was it arrogance? or maybe it was desire?
either way, the look he gave you was one of yearning.
hi, my name is yn and today i’m going to being doing an interview with my ex.” you notice jake sitffen at your side when those words leave your mouth; now just realizing that he wasn’t fully aware of what this video was even for as you only told him to show up and the staff member that he was assigned did a poor job of giving enough detail on the filming that he wasn’t able to put two and two together.
jake is about to speak up and ask about what you had just said because he didn’t know that that’s what this video was for but he’s interrupted by the producer behind the camera telling the two of you to do a bit of catching up before he asks you the first question.
“you look good, as always.” jake compliments, the smirk still on his face as he looks you up and down, brushing his hand through his hair: a classic jake flirting tactic.
you mutter a small thank you before responding, “you look.. fine.” you say, trying to sound as bitter as you could when deep down you were fighting the urge to fall for his tricks. you could’ve sworn he’s only gotten more handsome since the last time you saw him three months ago.
“only fine?” he teases and you roll your eyes before giving and saying that he also looked good, to which jake smiles even wider and let’s out a laugh that rung like an angelic harp in your head. “you know, you didn’t tell me this was a video about exes..” jake brings up and you give him a sheepish grin followed by a shrug as you’ve clearly been caught.
you tell him that it must’ve slipped your mind and when he gives you a look that tells you that he doesn’t believe you, you go on to explain that you wanted answers from him and thought that this was the best way to do it without the pressures of being alone in a close proximity to jake.
“why, do i have that effect on you?” he teases again and you roll your eyes, choosing not to answer that but it was okay for you jake because he knew the answer to that already.
“alright, so how long did you guys date?”
you were hesitant to answer becoause you wanted jake to answer first. you knew that he barely saw what the two of you had as “dating” but you wanted to see how he’d answer so that you could answer accordingly.
“a year.” he simply says and it’s probably the first time that jake has ever considered it “dating”
you’re about to answer but jake interjects, “if you could call it that. it was more like a situationship.” he continues.
there it is.
“yeah, a year.” you ask, your energy instantly reaching a low as your hopes of jake seeing you more than a situationship goes down the drain. you knew it was too good to be true, and you’re now beginning to regret even going on this show in the first place.
what was your first date?
you decide that you were going to wait for jake to answer again because you knew that he’d get this question wrong. he always did whenever you and your friends would ask about the two of you. he’d always say…
“it was at a late night bbq”
wrong.
jake turns his head to look at you, a proud expression on his face like he was look to your for validation, expecting you to be smiling and nodding at his answer, but you weren’t and his smile instantly fades when he sees the slight frown on your face.
“that’s wrong, jake. our first date was actually at your jobs luncheon because you forgot you double booked that day so we had to go to your work even instead of our actual first date which was supposed to be fishing at the pier.” you explained, your face still as a stone as you looked into the camera as if you were hoping your expression would transfer your feeling to the viewers watching this video.
like you wanted them to feel how annoyed you were that he got that question wrong and always got that question wrong for the last year.
“oh, right. i always forget that, huh?” he says, shyly scratching the back of his head and all you could do was quickly raise your eyebrows and give him a tightlipped smile; to which jake takes notice over the fact that you weren’t enjoying any of this. which he found strange considering this was your idea.
jake then begins to wonder what all of this was even for. you clearly weren’t having a good time, he didn’t really want to be here, and if he was being honest, none of this was any of these people’s business. what the two of you had was something that only mattered to the two of you, no one else.
who said i love you first?
“neither of us, like he said, it wasn't that type of relationship.” you jumped up, answering before jake could because you were getting frustrated at everything, especially at the fact that after you tried so hard to think that what you and jake had for the last year could’ve been more, you’re only meeting the harsh truth and that wa the fact that what you two had was close to nothing.
“actually, that’s not true. you probably don’t remember because you had a lot to drink that night but during heeseung’s birthday party last year, you got really drunk and i took you home to take care of you and before you fell asleep we had a heartfelt talk about what we are.
you were rambling so much about how you didn’t want me to leave you and that you wanted me to sleep over and stay the night; and so i did.
we fell asleep in your bed but not before i told you that i loved you but i guess you had fallen asleep a lot sooner because you hadn’t heard anything i said. all you responded with was a snore.” he says, the last part being a joke to somewhat lighten up the somber mood that his story brought.
he was right though, you didn’t remember this night. you knew that you got pretty trashed at heeseung’s party but you don’t remember jake ever telling you that he loved you.
that you definitely would’ve remember because it would’ve changed the way things are right now.
“are you being serious?” you whisper and jake nods, “of course, i am.” he adds.
“why did you say it? and why did you never tell me the next morning.” you probe, confused at the fact that you wanted answers but were receiving questions instead.
“i’m not sure. i think i got scared. that i was catching feelings for you but i had been so focused on keeping us casual that i thought i’d scare you away if i brought it up. i mean we were only seeing each other for about 4 months at that time so i don’t know if telling you that i loved you was a good idea…” jake explains and you’re shaking your head in disbelief.
“jake? the reason i ghosted you was because i wanted something more than casual and you didn’t. you’re not about to spin this onto me and make it seem like i’m the one who wasn’t ready for something serious.
and if this was around the time of heeseung’s birthday then it was after the fight we had and why i was drinking so much that night. i was angry that you weren’t telling me how you felt about because you were clearly jealous that i wanted to go to heeseung party and insisted that you came even though you didn’t want me going to another guy’s party.
we fought before we got to the party because you were acting jealous and like we were official when in reality you tiptoed around the fact and never wanted to put a label on us. so no, of course i’m not going to remember that because all i had in my head that night was the fact that you probably would never love me based on how you saw what we had.”
you didn’t mean to unload on jake like that but the words just kept coming out and by the end of it you’re wiping a tear from your cheek and catching your breath as you realize you were talking so fast without any pauses to take a breath.
jake looked at you with an apologetic expression, like he didn’t know this was how you felt when you knew that he was aware before for the last half of your situationship, you were fighting once a month about it and eventually it got so bad to the point you just completely walked away with a notice. some would say, including you, that you ghosted jake but the only ghost was jake as he was left behind, left to linger without a general purpose as he was surrounded with the memory of the past and what could’ve been.
what was the cause of your breakup?
you look up at jake to see if he was going to answer but he’s just looking at you because if jake was being honest, with all of the fights and arguments that the two of you had, he couldn’t tell you with 100% confidence why the two of you broke up.
to be fair, you were the one that walked away.
you cleared your throat before slightly turning to the camera, “i told jake that i wanted something more and that i was done being casual, i asked that dreaded question that a lot of people who are in the our situationship try to avoid ‘what are we?’ and didn’t go well. it led to yet another argument, i think it was like our 3rd one andi we were only halfway through the month.
i got sick and tired of feeling like i wasn’t wanted or desired or that i was incapable of receiving the love that i deserved. don’t get me wrong, jake was sweet and he made sure i felt like i was cared for but when it came down to the nitty gritty, he didn’t have an answer on what we were when i did…
so i left. sure, it was wrong of me to just outright ghost him but to me it was the right thing to do because why was i going to continue pursuing someone that not only couldn’t see eye to eye with me but didn’t see me the way i saw him..” you try not to look over at jake but when he starts to speak, your eyes naturally gravitate towards his direction.
“i would agree, but i think you’re forgetting the part where i said just now that i was scared. i did love you, hell, i still love you but i don’t know if you’d ever see me that way again. i’m sorry that i made you feel unloved because i was too weak to deal with my own insecurities that i was unknowingly projecting onto you.
i should’ve never been afraid to profess my love to you because you deserve someone who would love you and be proud to be loved by you.”
jake’s words have always held weight with you. you loved knowing input on things even when they were small and not the most important.
what should you have for dinner? let’s ask jake.
do these shoes match your coat? let’s ask jake.
does this hairstyle suit you? let’s ask jake.
should you reach out to that friend you haven’t spoken to in years? let’s ask jake.
jake had become someone you could turn to when it came to helping you make decisions because you valued what he had to say, he was smart and socially adept; way more than you, but when it came to you it seemed like jake would lose all of his ability to articulate his words. stumbling or rambling nonsense until he would just tell you to forget about it altogether.
so why is it that right now, in this very moment, jake was able to clearly and verbally express how he felt then and now, when it’s all too late. why couldn’t he have shared this with you when it mattered most, when you needed him to yell at the top of his lungs what you needed to hear, when you wanted nothing more than for him to provide some security for you by whispering into your ear the words he was saying now. it would’ve saved you all of the heartbreak, pain, and inner battle you had gone through the last three months with feeling like maybe it was your fault.
maybe you were too overbearing with jake or maybe you had crossed that line a situationship should never cross. maybe you took everything way more seriously than you needed when the key word was: casual.
but you knew it wasn’t you and it wasn’t just your pride talking. you knew that what you and jake had was more than casual, more than a situationship, and more than what he made it out to be.
is there anything the two of you have wanted to say to the other that you haven’t?
your eyes are fixated onto the scuffed floor of studio, afraid that if you were to speak right away that you may something you regret, and although you wanted nothing more to finally tell jake how you really feel, burning passion and anger and all, you decided to hold back for a moment and think about what you should say opposed to what your emotions wanted to say.
“for me…” jake starts
“i’ve always wanted to tell you that i see you more than how i’ve treated you. i know it’s not much now considering where we are in each other’s life but i wish i would’ve told you that i loved you before you fell asleep.
i wish that i told you that i loved you when you woke up the next day, and the day after that, and the day after that one, maybe even the days before the first time i said it .
i wish i showed you how much i actually loved you instead of letting fear cloud my judgement and drive me away from how i truly felt. i did love you, yn. i still love you and i’m sorry that this is all coming out at the wrong time.
i’m sorry i couldn’t give that to you when you had asked for it.”
tears fall down your face and you’re not sure if you’re crying because of sadness or anger. you were sad because this was what you finally wanted to hear. jake take accountability for how he treated you and say it from his own mouth that he knew what he did wrong and knew what he should’ve done– but you were angry because it didn’t make you feel the way you had thought it would.
you expected to be angry, thrashing, and bitter at jake once you finally got his answer, but now all you felt was tenderness. the way jake radiated with guilt you could tell he was being genuine and it played with your mind because you wanted nothing more than to be angry but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it.
jake hands you a tissue before you answer, wiping your tears with sniffles as you try to gather yourself, looking up at jake who’s eyes have gotten slightly red. “i’ve always wanted to tell you how much you hurt me. i know whenever we fought that it would just be us yelling back and forth, trying to throw the blame but never fully expressing what we felt.
and i feel like that was something i should’ve done and maybe it would’ve helped you be able to express your own feelings. obviously we’re adults, we don’t need to coddle one another but i can’t help but think that maybe if i was more compassionate and less acussatory then maybe things would’ve worked out. that maybe if i encouraged myself to speak with empathy instead of anger then you would’ve done the same.”
do you regret breaking up?
jake instantly says yes, like he knew this question was coming and although you don’t respond right away, jake’s demeanor doesn’t falter as he stood beside his answer.
“i don’t know..” was all you could say and for a second sadness flashes in jake’s eyes but it’s soon replaced with a look of kindness as he knows your answer wasn’t meant to hurt him but was rooted in the history of you both.
would you two get back together?
this time jake doesn’t jump up at the answer, he waits for a moment even though he already knows what he wants to say because he wanted to hear you first. you bite your bottom lip as you think about how you wanted to answer the question because you weren’t even sure yourself what the answer could be.
would saying yes lead to something better? or would it just bring you back into a pattern and create a cycle.
what if you said no and you would’ve never known that your future with jake was brighter than your past.
“yes.” jake says and your head is snapping upwards to look up at him, surprise clearly spread across your face. “i was so happy she reached out to me about this video, i hadn’t heard from her for three months so i was happy to see her contact appear on my phone. i’d want to get together and start over in a heartbeat.” jake adds.
✧˚ ༘ ⋆。 ˚
“thank you both for coming to film today, it was very nice to have you both. feel free to grab some refreshments before heading out, we’ll have our assistant do some offboarding paperwork with you. thank you, take care.” the producer says and you gather your things, hopping off the stool and heading outside; not even caring that you didn’t do the paperwork they said you’d have to do before leaving.
you’re fiddling with your keys when jake runs out, chasing after you.
“wait, yn! you’re just leaving?” he asks, jogging over to you, slightly out of breath. the sun has long set but the moon in the sky shined a light onto jake that made him look majestic. like something out of someone’s dreams or the pages of a fantasy book. he looked unreal.
“yes? the recording is done, i’m leaving.” you say bitterly as you finally get the key into the slot, opening the door but jake stops it from fully swinging open. “jake, let go.” you say with an eye roll and he stays put.
“did you really mean that?” he asks, eyes pleading for an answer to the last thing you had said when answering the question about getting together.
✧˚ ༘ ⋆。 ˚
“no, i wouldn’t get back together. it would show that i don’t respect myself if i got back together with someone who didn’t respect me enough when we were dating. i deserve better than that.”
✧˚ ༘ ⋆。 ˚
those words echo inside both of your heads, jake forced to think about how it would haunt him knowing the way he made you feel while your own words lingered in your mind as you tried to convince yourself you meant what you said but deep down you only said it because it was you being scared.
the same exact way that jake was scared.
“yes, i meant it, jake. i deserve better.” you say, your voice slightly trembles and you hope that jake didn’t hear it. he’s just staring into your eyes, looking for any sign that you’re lying, that you want to try and start over, but when he isn’t able to find what he’s looking for in your eyes, his head falls with a slight sniffle.
“okay… i respect your decision. take care of yourself, ok? i hope you find the one who will treat you the way you deserve. i’m sorry i couldn’t show you that i could’ve been that person.” and his grip on your car door loosens, the door slightly swinging open as you watch him walk away. his back turned towards you as he walked off, his arm moving to his eyes to wipe his tears as he walked to his own car.
maybe, you shouldn’t have lied and just told him that you did want to start over.
but you couldn’t risk your own happiness on “maybe”. you needed a definitive and solid answer; and you didn’t get that today no matter how many times jake apologized, told you that he wanted to start over, told you wanted you wanted to hear.
none of it translated the way you thought it would because you came in here hating jake but now you’re walking out hating the fact that you couldn’t bring yourself to be honest with him the way you wanted him to be honest with you all those months ago.

Now Expressen can tell new parts about it, through a video on Rickard Andersson.
The police are investigating whether Rickard Andersson's finances may have played a role in the motive behind the massacre in Örebro.
Requirement to report all savings accounts
In the video, which was recorded in a kitchen, the murderer apparently reads from the beginning of a letter that explains changes in routines regarding his finances:
- two o'clock information about changes to bank statements from the application for...
Then he interrupts himself, and continues:
- From November 2020 onwards, you must report bank statements together with the application every month. Remember that the end date should be close to the day you apply.
- Remember to report all accounts you have, such as savings accounts, e-savings accounts, savings capital accounts.
The video ends there. Exactly when it was recorded is unclear.
Expressen has previously been able to show a similar video on Rickard Andersson where he reads out a letter from Örebro Municipality. That time it was about him being threatened with having his social security benefits withdrawn. According to information provided to Expressen, the video was recorded in 2021 – probably later than the video mentioned above.
Dismissed from the Employment Service
Rickard Andersson is said to have received financial assistance from the municipality for a period, which was reportedly withdrawn because he had not applied for a job to a sufficient extent, according to Aftonbladet.
Starting in 2019, Andersson was enrolled in the same municipal adult education course, “Mathematics 1a”, for five straight semesters – without taking any credits.
In 2017, he had two internships, in a sports shop and at a car rental company. He got them when he was registered with the Employment Service for two weeks, before he announced that he wanted to be discharged, according to Aftonbladet.
The following year, Andersson renewed contacts with the Employment Service and he then told them about his diagnoses and social difficulties. There was a medical report that stated that he had a permanent reduced ability to work. Andersson also expressed concern about losing his social security.
After 2014, Rickard Andersson declared no income.
