I'm watching X-Men: First Class and Darwin dying is pissing me off again. "Adapt to this" HE SHOULD!!! THAT'S WHAT HE DOES! HE ADAPTS TO SURVIVE SO HE SHOULD SURVIVE THAT! THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT! Anyway new HC, he crumbled and they thought his was dead, but his powers just decided the best chance of survival was for him not to be a main character. He's fine.

What if when Shaw told Darwin 'adapt to this' while making him swallow the ball of energy, Darwin went 'bet'and actually did???? Because that's what he DOES????!! He survives! He adapts!!

Knight of Space analysis?

The Knight of Space [symbols: shield, galaxy]

The Knight class has its basis in the classic knight from Arthurian legend. An example would be Lancelot.

The Space aspect’s main themes are creation and beginnings. You can find its official description here.

A Knight of Space is among those who use physical existence. This is the “classpect group” they belong to. Members include: the Knight, Page, Thief, and Rogue of Space/Time. These classes are all opposites or inverses of each other that use the Space/Time dichotomy (physical existence). A description of classpect groupings can be found here.

The Knight of Space actively utilizes the Space aspect. Active classes tell themselves what to do and do so for their own benefit. They are more likely to stand up for themselves, but more likely to be cruel. Knights and Pages use their aspect and everything it symbolizes as a tool. Simplified, the Knight of Space is motivated by themselves to utilize creation and beginnings.

In personality, the Knight of Space puts on a front to hide an insecurity and feels satisfied by the act of making something. Personality descriptions can be found here.

Their archetype is the Defender Mother, defined by guarded creation and beginnings. Archetypes are explained here.

Their opposite is the Page of Time, who passively utilizes endings and destruction.

Their inverse is the Rogue of Time, who passively steals endings and destruction.

A classpect or “god tier” is an individual’s best self. All classpects go through a journey from unrealized, to struggle, to realized. When a character is unrealized, they neutrally exist as their inverse. On their struggle, they will wildly flip back and forth between their inverse and true classpect. In their worst moments they will act as their inverse, in their best their true classpect. When realized, they will stabilize as their true classpect. They will still have room to grow, but will become happier, more successful people.

This means that the Knight of Space begins life motivated by others to steal endings and destruction. When their struggle arrives and they are at their worst, they will continue this behavior in negative extremes. However, when at their best, they will find purpose in instead utilizing creation and beginnings for themselves. When realized, they will stabilize and continue to utilize the Space aspect actively, in a positive way.

They share their archetype with the Sylph of Doom, the Mother Defender.

The Knight of Space would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Haze [Knight] and Frogs [Space Aspect]. An example would be the Land of Curtains and Frogs. An explanation of planet naming conventions can be found here.

Two possible gods, or denizens, to reign over their planet would be Echidna (Mother of Monsters) or Demeter (Goddess of Grain). Other Space aspect denizens can be found here.

When the Knight of Space completes their planet quests and dies on their quest bed, they would rise to ascension on the wings of hummingbirds (symbols of eternity). A list of soul animals can be found here.

The characters that I have currently classpected as Knights of Space are: Cremisius Aclassi from Dragon Age, Peggy Carter from Agent Carter, Éowyn from Lord of the Rings, Darwin from X-Men, and The Spine from Steam Powered Giraffe.

I'm going to guess tentatively that no one who evacuated Krakoa has actually died, and that the cliffhanger’s resolution will be that Darwin and/or Warlock redirected the gates to a safe location. And that wherever everyone went, it's just too far out of Xavier's range for him to detect. I think that would be a good way to pay off Darwin becoming one with Cerebro--and promising Forge it would help everyone later on--and with Warlock surviving on inside of the machines to help his friends.

That Destiny thought it was the right call to accept exile and fight another day, and was so sure that Manifold had the ability to save everyone, tells me that they weren't all just marching to their deaths under Xavier's control. They’re somewhere in a real place, where Eden will still be able to discover them. I think also that all of the set-up we’ve had so far has been oriented around the idea that the mutants (and ordinary humans tbh) are in dire straits, but that they haven’t lost yet. We also already know that Magik, Mirage, and Mary made it out alive to star in their own book in Otherworld, though I guess it's not really clear if everyone else is with them or if the survivors have all been split up.

(It’s also possible that Stasis and Moira just actually kept their word and let everyone escape to somewhere the X-Men can’t reach, but I don’t think so since Duggan is the event’s lead writer and he’s leaned so hard into the idea that the mutants vs machines war only persists because Orchis are lying genocidal maniacs.)

killing darwin was the WORST crime of the x men movies i will never not be over it. also. if you have the opportunity to change that in a fic and then you DONT!?? you just kill him just like the movies did??!????? sickening.
