Some folks were asking whether the frames in the new trailer were hand-drawn: yah!
I tape them to my desk and just draw little crosshairs on each so I can line them up post-scanning. I tried to get a pegboard but they were too small ToT Paper for ants...

god, dwarf fortress really nailed the artistic inspiration mechanic where the dwarf who gets hit by it has to drop everything and enters a fugue state until they've finished their piece
haha anyway i drafted storyboarding for a 22-page zine yesterday in one go and i hardly remember the process

The Captain by Joe Lawrence 😊
He does some fantastic sculptures in various materials from wood, clay and bronze . It's well worth checking out some of his work. They tend to all have an arrrrr Jim Lad kind of pirate / fisherman type theme to them 😉

🦋 „The Moon“ in Mixed Media & Questioning my Art
This is a recreation of my „The Moon“ card from my unfinished Moth Tarot Deck. I‘m currently experimenting with various physical art mediums and this is a simple drawing I‘ve redone in several versions over the years.
I had some thoughts about my art recently. I‘ve been making art regularly for over a decade but only about 8 years ago I first started creating it digitally. Before that I used to draw in black ink, I loved using alcohol markers and coloured pencils. I never questioned my art style and never felt disappointed with the way my art developed. Making art really fulfilled me.
The first years of making digital art felt amazing to me, as well. I didn‘t really know what I was doing, my pictures turned out nice and I loved it. But digital art does something to me. Having the choice between all the colours that are just available, all the brush types and textures that are easy to apply… At some point I noticed I was questioning my art and my art style. I looked for inspiration online and feel like I‘ve been copying way too much stuff I was seeing. So ever since about the Covid times art wasn‘t as fun for me anymore. I like the pictures I create, especially the ones I made since about last summer, even though it‘s not much. But it just feels different than before.
I recently watched several Hayao Miyazaki documentaries and one quote really stuck with me.
“I must battle my desire to avoid a hassle. All important things in the world are a hassle.” - Hayao Miyazaki
It made me realize that these days, my digital art process almost feels like an inconvenience that stands between me and my picture that I can post on the internet. It doesn‘t feel like I enjoy the creative process as I personally don‘t really have a connection to the digital medium.
I used to clearly prefer digital to physical as I feel like the possibilities are endless. On the other hand, physical just seemed limited. but the more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that the limitations are just hurdles meant to be overcome. The hassle is worth it, as Miyazaki teaches.
I don‘t know whether I will forever turn my back to digital art. I don‘t think so, not for everything. But I wanna use this realization and direct the energy it gives me into making physical art that inspires me.
I immediately notice that the finishing of that little watercolour/gouache/pencil piece leaves me much more fulfilled than the creation of its digital twin had. I also immediately notice that I don‘t question my art style when I paint with physical mediums. I just wonder how to realize some effects and some ideas I have and whatever I end up with is good.
We will see how this continues. I‘m glad for the inspo I got from Miya-san and the realization. The shift from digital to physical might actually be what I‘ve been looking for for years.

Hello, how are you, I love your drawing style 😻 and I love your works, I really don't know how you do it to fulfill so many requests (I couldn't or would draw stick drawings jsjsjsj) question, how do you do it? And how do you manage to organize your time? or do you just take your time and once it happens >:3
Hello! I am very sleepy as I just got up from bed. Aww and thank you! I'm glad people enjoy my works :D
I'm going to be honest, I do fuck all and jack shit-
I mostly draw in the afternoon till the late evening.
Admittedly, art requests pieces take over two hours for me to finish drawing. My computer is old and slow, which is why I'm trying to save up money, which is not ideal for me. But y'know, at least I have a computer.
Overall, I draw everyday. Unless I just don't feel like drawing for three days. How much I draw is up to my energy levels.

I love South Park but the YFM brainrot is too strong so I just keep thinking this is hilarious I should write high school YFM like this.
🎧: "What are you guys doing?"
🎤🎹: "Making faces at sick people."

I feel like I go through inspiration in waves. For weeks, I might struggle to get a single sentence out, unable to even edit existing work.
Then suddenly, all I want to do is write, somehow typing out a thousand clean words an hour.
I've found that it's better to ride those waves instead of trying to force them. Maybe, while I'm struggling to write, something else will come easier - maybe it's art, maybe gardening.
What helps is not feeling like I've abandoned a project just because I hadn't worked on it in weeks. It helps to look at what I've already done sometimes, and if there's no inspiration, put it away without guilt. Maybe it's just how my brain works, but eventually I end up not wanting to put it down and end up working on it for hours.
