A genus of small wolf spiders widespread throughout south-east Asia and found in all states and territories of Australia.

Originally described in 1877 by Tamerlan Thorell, although for a while some of the species were in the genera Artoriella and Trabeola. However, in 2002, Volker Framenau reviewed the genera and grouped them together again.

These spiders are somewhat sexually dimorphic, with males slightly smaller than females and often more distinctly coloured. Males may also have modifications of the first pair of legs or pedipalp ornamentations used during courtship.

three Australian Golden Orb females, pictured here from youngest (top) to oldest (bottom), offering a nice look at the change in colours and patterning over their 1 year lifespan. hopefully some males will appear in the web of the oldest female soon. interestingly, the second and third spiders are both missing the same right leg.

If we were to name Australian Spider-Man Male Reader I think his Superhero name should be The Huntsman also can we get a prequel for Peter B Parker meeting Reader and freaking out because of venom then being super confused when hearing venom speaking with an Australian accent
