Gears is one of the strongest of the Ark-modified Autobots, possessing great fuel efficiency and overall endurance. Compressed air boosters in his legs allow him to launch up to around 32 km straight up and then float down, but only with limited maneuverability. Gears' ability to detect infrared allows him to work just as easily at night as during the day.

And we are finally almost complete on the G1 Minibot roster with the addition of GEARS!! This miserable little bot has finally made it into my hands after a while of me waiting at my door for delivery like a proper Hooligan, and I’m glad he came out to be better than I could have expected! Let’s check this grumpy guy out!! 🤩

Transformers Excerpts: Grinding Gears

Rodimus walks into Gears' office...

Rodimus: Gears, we need to- Whoa! *sees the candy wrappers, stacks of empty cup nuddles, a few empty coffee cups, stacks of tablet files and there's even dust* What the hack, Gears?! This place looks like a junkyard! And it smells like one too! Gears: I was going to clean it up! Rodimus: In what year?! It's no wonder your performance is poor. You can even keep your space in order. Gears: Respect your elders, boy. Rodimus: Respect is earned, Gears. And honestly, I'm questioning if you respect yourself because it's not just your space and work that's sloppy. According to reports, you've been making other workers very uncomfortable in the Earth base here. Especially the femmes and non-Autobots. You've even been using slurs. Is that true? Gears: They're exaggerating. All I did was tell things like they are. Rodimus: And what exactly is your definition of telling things like they are? Gears: That 'Cons don't belong in Autobot spaces! Rodimus: *gets in his faceplate* You will NOT say that word in ANY space, Gears. Gears: O-Ok, fine. Oversensitive boy... And as for the femmes, I have no idea what their problem is. All I did was pay them a few compliments on their beauty. Rodimus: You made comments on the size of their... Sigh, Gears, do I really have to explain it? What is your problem? Gears: I have no problem! It's everyone else here! Since you became in charge, this place has gone nuts! I was always like this! All of you changed! Rodimus: Actually, Gears, everyone was always uncomfortable with the way you were, but now there are laws in place that prohibit harassment and disrespect at the workplace as well as the awareness of hate crimes. Gears:.... Rodimus: I'm also going to say it outright even I come across as a jackhammer for saying it, I don't care that you fought in the war and have medals. I care about the here and now, and in the here and now, your attitude, your manners, your social skills and even your cleanliness habits MATTER. You can start cleaning up your office, at long last filing your files and cleaning up your mouth. I never want to hear you talk like a dumpster around here again! Got it?! Gears:... Yes, Prime... Rodimus: Note, this is not a second chance. This is an order. I expect it followed *he leaves* Gears:... Spoiled idealistic brat... *sees a cockroach* YEAAAAARGH!! *stands on the chair*

Gears the Arks grumpy  janitor. He's been working on the ark for well.... I don't even think he can tell you how long. Definitely before the great war, before a lot of wars actually, before the second great rust plunge, maybe even the first, he doesn't keep up with the news much. This little mini is as old as it gets, but despite his great age even compared to other old cybertronian, he doesn't have many interesting stories to tell. As stated before, he doesn't keep up with the news and thoughts the ship he works on has traveled across the universe; he doesn't leave the ark unless absolutely necessary. Gears is satisfied with his simple life. He may be a bit of a grouch sometimes, but he is content, or at least he was. The autobots using the ship he worked on for a secret mission and then crashing on earth gave him a lot of unwanted excitement to his life. 

Though him and his coworker huffer aren't autobots, they are stuck with them on earth for the foreseeable future. him and huffer continue they duties of maintaining the ark. neither of them are happy with this situation, especially Huffer. Gears having a grumpy attitude become much more common and much more noticeable.

If you're wondering what his alt mode is, he's one of those industrial floor cleaners

Absolutely loving this little dude. The toy head looks great, the double Wumbos on the back are fun, and the toy still feels absolutely fantastic with no sign of mould fatigue despite being on it's third run now.

Let's cut to the chase: I just scuba dived my first ever Junior Scuba Diver Pool Dive as a Little Junior Scuba Diver with my two new dive buddies: Chad "Kicker" Jones, Little Earth Federation/Autobot Junior Diver

Sari Sumdac, Little Sumdac Systems/Autobot Junior Diver with me as their big brother figure dive buddy and had a splashin' blast at the Autobot Junior Scuba/Rescue Diver Training Diving Pool here in good ol' Budapest, Hungary!

I was nice enough to bring with me an Underwater Waterproofed Digital Scuba Camera to take a snapshot of said new dive buddies:

Long story short: we went through the ABCs of scuba diving, swam around the heated waters of the scuba dive pool, practiced buddy breathing and air-integrated regulator breathing and just being middle school kids, popping our regulators out of our mouths, bubbling air bubbles around, plugging our regs back in our mouths and all. All in all: a dive to remember.

Riding Gears again

You'd think Gears would steer clear of the Xenogears franchise after what happened last time.

Artfight 2023, 9/25 - Projector (mine), Radiowave @happy-duckie, Gearshifter @cookieclover

This piece was challenging for me not because it was three characters, or even any part related to drawing my friends' characters, but because of Projector. His colour scheme and overall design, especially the legs, were up in the air at the time of drawing (and honestly, they still are), yet I had to come up with something within the day! Other than that hurdle, this attack was a lot of fun, I think the idea of our bots playing Cybertron Monopoly is solid and I'm happy with how it came out. Here's hoping their friendship will be in good enough shape after everything is said and done that they can have a nice game session together. Progress photos gif under the cut = ]

Dear Skipped Gears,

During the Battle of Autobot City, Gears narrowly avoided being crushed by Devastator. He was actually rather surprised by this, as he'd assumed he would be first on the scrapheap. As it happened, he sadly met his end during Galvatron's attack not long afterwards, destroyed by a strafing run from Cyclonus.
