ooo you play starbound? I want to enjoy it but I always feel. guilty knowing what happened in development :( I wanna play really bad but then my brain is like 'SHOULD u?'
oh yeah the situation surrounding that entire debacle is absolute shitte. they fucked up big time. but also that situation has been and gone (and i hope they face intense scrutiny from there forward and don't repeat it) + the game itself is like... idk, maybe 10-20 hours worth of engagement and then you get bored? so people should nab it on sale if they're tempted, i'm not sure the base game is worth full price
but I play it with the frackin' universe mod set installed, which has skyrocketed my current gameplay up to 1000+ hours, multiple characters, and that as a mod set is run and handled by just a single absolutely insane guy not affiliated with chucklefish and all the mod editors managing all their stuff under its umbrella are (presumably? it's mods. it's voluntary) just doing this for fun. it's basically what Feed The Beast is to minecraft. complex as hell to figure out but they've made it easier for new people to get into lately. you can farm bees for rare resources. you can get bit to death by tiny tiny spiders. you can exploit the power of the universe to make your weird ugly gun you found in a pirate's shipping crate stronger. i went fishing in lava and a massive meteor landed on my head with precision accuracy and exploded my body into a fine mist. the crown my bird character is wearing whispers subliminal messages in my ears
so honestly even if chucklefish themselves have been a bit weird i already HAD the game when all that came out. and now i'm in it more for the fuckin amazing experience of this shitload more work done and available for free (besides the basegame) done by people who do this for fun and really just want people to play what they've done and tear their hair out over it. bc that will happen

i don't really think there's anything seriously wrong with tagwhoring if it's a lot of tags that are already really broad and busy, because who's going to notice i guess, tragedy of the commons, whatever, BUT i just got a photo on my for you tab that was pretty unmistakably a shot of one of those mediterranean coastal cities with the all-white buildings overlooking a bright blue ocean and a clear sky, and it was tagged as both pacific northwest and saskatchewan. girl no it is not

actually not done with the mario kart 64 thing i was making, got to 3k lines of code today woo
calculated each characters section and each one takes like 2k lines of code by themselves so that's cool and it also means the final thing will be like 16k lines long to get everything working nicely
the thing already works but i still need to get the actual output in there, just got done with like one third of mario's data, took a few hours so i should have it ready in a few days maybe

"you have to remove every time you ahve ever said the word 'fuck' on artfight or you will get banned because i decided that a rule that was obviously not meant to mean that could mean that if you really strained yourself to interpret it that way ! !" How do i say anything to this train of thought that doesn't seem really mean. This is simply not something that would happen

The hermits keep complaining about storage so I wanted to show off my starter storage that so far has been absolutely enough and even has room to expand and I'm at level 18! I don't know how they have such trouble with this, but I also love sorting everything xP

Hi I just checked out your spreadsheet and it looks like Shrek qualifies, but you don’t have him highlighted in green?
The third was submitted after I went through and highlighted a batch. If (upon loading the spreadsheet) a character is at the bottom of the list out of alphabetical order it usually means I haven't sorted through them yet.
I go through and highlight whenever I'm at my computer. But yeah, Shrek's in 👍

Some days I think I probably do need an actually trained service animal for mental health crap + the occasional chronic crap affecting my mobility.
But like…I don’t really want a dog. I want a Highly Trained mainecoon or norwegian forest cat. Just. This very large very fluffy very baseline breed intelligent cat known to take on BEARS (or, home invaders and men attempting SA).
I’d be THAT Crazy Lady walking this giant fluff monster most days, but other days just have my lap full of fluff when my hips-down don’t want to cooperate, or I need the comforting weight and fluffy company to hold the brain static at bay.
And some days…look. It hurts to grasp things. Or I risk dropping things. And cats can and will open cupboards and drawers if the handles let them hook their paws Just So to make up for the lack of opposable thumbs.
(Yeah yeah I know people are more accustomed to training dogs for this, but I’ve had quite a bit of luck training my “just housecats” as adults with various things, and people post the adventures they take with their mainecoons like, all the time…so think of what I could do with socializing and training a cat if I had the chance to do so.
(…also I just get along better with cats than dogs. They’re more tolerant to my need to not have a true routine. Also they poop in a box.)
#tiger’s musings#yesterday was…ugh. think my body was fighting off a minor respiratory illness#bUT because I’m also chronically ill + have to take an immunosuppresent it…was not good#like I kinda freaked my online friends out with what my symptoms were#but…I’m just. so used to this. so used to just holding onto walls because I get so unsteady and trying to sleep through these episodes#it’s…definitely Something. not ‘jUST psYCHoSOmATiC’ like I got gaslit into believing 5+ years ago#but…with what turned out to be AS and Probably a CTD and Currently Assumed IBS (but prolly also CTD imo)#I…hadn’t really had a chance to do more than ‘okay so I also have tremors’#but hey. I have to have my annual pcp visit so I’ll make myself whine about it and the fluttery/tight/visible chest&pulse issues then#(they’re probably related. POTS…kinda can cause high bp/tachicardia and sometimes tremors too.)#(and like. high bp is kinda something so common in my family in young adulthood it’s a ‘when’ vs ‘if’)#so…yeah. sometimes I think I might need some sort of chair and service animal#in addition to custom fitted compression globes#and probably compression shorts and spats and sleeves on my knees and elbows#aaaaand prolly custom arch supports. in addition to Nicer Shoes than an Okay $50 newbalance pair#which…yeah. you can see how all this would get Very Expensive Very Fast#(aaaaaaaand… hope I don’t idk. get dropped from my medicaid? listen they’re sending me automated messages to get my risk assessment done)#(and I’ve got so much going on that I would be Screwed even if I hadn’t aged out of my dad’s insurance)#(it definitely affects me being able to work and keep a job)

tags @whileyoureinschoolidothisallday #I really like this emphasizes labor#like I honestly think that everyone contributes something even if it's just their presence#even a genuine asshole that I avoid 95% of the time has their moments#but LABOR?????????? that is simply not for everyone#especially the labor most leftists are talking about#My ideal society really is: ONLY the people who are wholeheartedly enthusiastic and/or passionate about the work they are doing#should be the ones doing the work#it ends up being better work that way!!!!!!!!!#I don't think people realize how much goes into work regardless of the job#you need to have baseline people skills because most likely you're gonna be working with at least one other person#you need to have average executive function or at least know how to manage a below average one#you need baseline stress management skills because something WILL go wrong#^similarly you need a good amount of patience and tenacity#and you need to be able to alter your sleep schedule#among many other things!!!!!!!!#if someone tells you 'you really don't want me working/don't want my help with that' they're probably right!!!!!!#and that's a good thing to know that about yourself!!!!!!
Too many leftists are still glorifying work for work's sake. Too many leftists have equated "performing labor" with "moral fortitude."
If your ideal society has no place for people who genuinely, fully, 100% do not want to work, or who can't work, your ideal society is not as ideal as you think. There has to be space for people who don't "contribute," there has to be space for people who don't fulfill some greater "purpose," there has to be space for people who cannot and will not ever be a part of the labor force.
I am a firm believer that laziness does not exist, and if someone is flat-out refusing to do something, there's a good reason for it. That reason could be disability, it could be fear, it could be a lack of education, it could be that they're confused or lost and don't fully understand what they're supposed to do, it could be that they don't have the skills, it could be that they're at their limit and need a break, it could be that the task is uninteresting or not relatable to them and they don't understand why it's necessary, it could be countless other reasons. "They're just lazy" is a cruel assumption that doesn't solve any problems or accomplish any tasks.
But even if I'm wrong, and laziness is real, you can't penalize "laziness" without hitting a lot of disabled or otherwise vulnerable people in the crossfire. You cannot and will not ever create a society in which everyone is a perfect worker. There has to be a way for someone to contribute absolutely nothing to the labor force, but still be taken care of instead of left to needlessly suffer.
