secret admirer part nine
356 words
one two three four five six seven eight
Steve goes through the next two periods in a haze.
Eddie knows. He has to know.
He’s never looked in Steve’s direction like that before. Sure, Eddie has been known to heckle their table from time to time, but this wasn’t that.
By the time Steve is supposed to head to art class, he’s only managed to work himself up even more. He’s walking in the complete opposite direction of the classroom and towards the front doors when someone grabs him by the arm.
Steve flinches but Carol doesn’t seem to notice.
“It’s this way, dumbass.”
Steve can’t speak. He can’t think of an excuse as to why he can’t go in there.
His ears ring as she pulls him down the hall. When they breach the doorway, Steve keeps his eyes down.
He only hopes that if Eddie wants to confront him, he doesn’t do it so publicly. He takes a shaky breath and sits straighter. Time to face the music.
When he looks to his left, though, Eddie is his usual self. He’s bent over the table, hair falling over his face in a curtain as he draws something on the surface.
Steve can faintly hear the boy murmuring about the last drawing he’d left there. Slain by the caretaker of the grounds. Fret not, Smaug, your memory will live on.
Or something.
Steve stares. He can’t help himself. Like, what the fuck.
Eddie sits up abruptly and Steve has to force himself not to jump in surprise. The boy shoots him a sharp grin when he catches him watching before placing his pencil between his teeth to reach above his head and wrap his hair up.
It’s one of the things that first caught Steve’s attention about Eddie.
Steve’s gaze follows the movement now, too. He watches as Eddie twists his hair up and freezes.
Eddie isn't wearing the ring anymore.
Steve looks away, facing the front of the room. He blinks back tears.
This is fine. Good, even - Eddie didn’t acknowledge it publicly. He knows it’s Steve, and he doesn’t want him to keep writing, but he isn’t exposing him.
It’s fine.

Prapai almost punched Gun to death not because he wanted revenge for his boyfriend, but because Gun hurt Sky.
Prapai was hurting not for himself, but for Sky. In place of Sky.
Prapai never once made Sky's ordeal about himself, he didn't want his boyfriend happy. He just wanted Sky happy.
He wanted to be there, take away all his pain because he wanted to see Sky happy and safe.
He wanted Sky to give him that power himself. And when Sky did, he accepted it with grace and responsibility.
Being in relationship with SA survivor needs empathy not sympathy and Prapai showed us how.

I just watched WfM's divorce episode, and even though I knew it was coming . . . OUCH. I can't even imagine just how much of a breakdown Suletta and Miorine had when they got to someplace private.
I know. It's such a good episode, but fuck, right?
I like to think Miorine in particular never really allows herself to stop moving after that moment; she doesn't think she's allowed to cry because this is all her fault, she's the one hurting Suletta, and at this point it's easier to pretend that her own feelings mean nothing and to keep moving forward. I don't know how far past you've gotten into the show, so I won't spoil what happens next, but I think after those scenes, it's still a while before Miorine allows herself to really Break Down.
As for Suletta... I mean. Yeah. She's just essentially lost almost everything; her sister, her mother, probably, and Miorine herself had dealt the blow. She's going to be inconsolable for a little bit, and who can blame her? The girl has been so lonely her entire life.

okay hello.
I just read miscommunications lead to places and OMG. You are so skilled and talented. I love the depth of the characters, I love the people we meet along the way, I love visiting all the places! I know that this is my comfort fic now and I am about to reread it and go on that journey again and again. Thank you so much for writing it and I hope you have a great day every day <3
I don't even really know how to reply to this. I'm speechless.
First of all, hi! Hope you are doing well.
But honestly this is such a beautiful compliment and it made my (honestly quite shitty) day so much better. You are so kind! Miscommunications is the story that was probably the hardest to write because it features so many places I've never been (and some I have) and people I had to create. Writing it was a challenge and I'm so happy there are at least a few people that love that story.
So, please excuse me, I'm gonna tear up now. Thank you so much for the compliment! You are incredible and I hope you also have a great day every day!!
