Bokuaka wedding reception where Akaashi is pregnant and drunk Kuroo tells everyone during his best man speech.

Him slurring the words and genuinely congratulating them but scandalised gasps are heard from the audience w/ the hushed whispers of the guests as they gossip.

Kenma, akaashi’s best man does his best to control the damages {elbows his husband in the guts and takes the mic from him when he doubles down in pain} but the cat’s already out of the bag so there really isn’t much of a point

Akaashi face palms so hard his face is red while bokuto melts into the seat in embarrassment because he had promised akaashi before telling kuroo that he would never tell another soul.

They had a big wedding too, everyone they knew and everyone their parents knew too it was something kuroo would NEVER live down 🙏🙏

BokuAka: Long Car Rides with the Windows Down

🚗 Just a little something I found in my docs that I wanted to share 🚗

The wind brushes through Keiji’s hair; he puts his sunglasses back on, leans his arm against the car door, and looks out. 

All around him, the earth is moving at a rate much faster than he would normally prefer; he hates being in a car that’s going too fast. 

“All right, Keiji?” There’s a warm hand patting his knee, and Kōtarō is there, grinning at him, even as he presses on the gas and steers with one hand.

Kōtarō’s face is the sun. It’s warmth, and comfort, and reassurance. Kōtarō’s hand is the ground. It keeps him steady, helps him find a sense of peace, no matter the situation, no matter how difficult it is for him to catch his breath. 

And when Kōtarō squeezes his knee, the world suddenly stops moving so quickly. 

Everything’s slow, even, measured. 

Keiji smiles. 

“Yes, Kō,” he answers. “Everything is wonderful.”

Kōtarō grins. “Great!” he says, but he keeps his hand where it is. “How about some music then? We’ve got a long ride ahead of us, and I hope you made some good driving playlists!”

Keiji did. He always does. 

He pulls out his phone, connects the bluetooth to the car’s speaker, and scrolls through until he hits the right playlist. The music starts; Kōtarō yelps with joy. 

“ABBA!” he yells. “How did you know I love ABBA for a road trip?!”

It’s not their first road trip. On the first one, all those years ago, from Tokyo to Hokkaido for one of Kōtarō’s college tournaments, Keiji had learned all about Kōtarō’s favorite road trip music. 

He’d learned, and remembered. 

Then…and now. 

Keiji’s still learning, still remembering, still memorizing every part of Bokuto Kōtarō. 

He feels the car slow down slightly; surprised he looks up, only to see Kōtarō’s handsome face furrowed into a frown, before it perks back up into its usual, happy, road trip grin.

“Every okay, Kōtarō?” he asks.

“Yeah!” Kōtarō exclaims. He hums for a moment along to the music, then adds in a lower voice, “You don’t like it when I speed, Keiji. So I slowed down a little, for you.”

Keiji’s heart flutters. 

Apparently, Kōtarō learns, and remembers, too. Keiji places his hand on Kōtarō’s, still on his knee, and squeezes back. 

He still has lots to learn about his husband, but he doesn’t mind. 

It’s what makes every day with Kōtarō a surprise.

the athletes of msby are in the middle of a water break when the team manager approaches them. atsumu whistles, calling out, "since when did ya get a secret admirer, chiyo-chan?"

"i have a husband, miya-kun," she reminds him.

"what, yer hubby can't send ya flowers?"

"he's allergic." she stops in front of bokuto, who squirts water all over his shirt when she announces, "these are for you, bokuto-kun."

the bouquet is a beautiful mix of spring blossoms – roses, tulips, lilies, hyacinths. tucked among the petals is a card, neat text printed on it.

i saw these and thought of you, it reads. i hope you're enjoying the spring weather. love, keiji

hinata and adriah coo; atsumu and sakusa gag. "that's pretty romantic," meian comments, looking over his shoulder. "didn't he send chocolates for valentine's day?"

"yeah!" they both share gift giving as a love language, smitten with spending a bit of money to make each other happy. they take turns, limited to one gift a month, so not to get overwhelmed, and this month, it's keiji's turn.

after practice, he puts the bouquet in a vase, takes a selfie to send to his boyfriend. they're beautiful, but not as beautiful as you, he writes in the caption. now, it's his turn to give back.

a day without his notebook is torture. akaashi filled the last page yesterday and still hadn't had time to buy a replacement. although it's easier to write digital notes on his laptop, he tends not to remember it as well.

when he gets home, there's a package waiting for him. his name is on the packing slip, sent by his favorite stationery boutique. he feels his heart skip a beat. how did kou know?

right on cue, his phone rings. "hey, keiji! how was work?"

"kou." akaashi picks up the package, still in disbelief. "did you send me something?"

"yeah, i did! i noticed you almost finished your notebook when i visited last week, so i got you a new one! it's the right color, right?"

"i, ah, haven't opened it yet."

"you should!"

akaashi chuckles, searching for his keys to enter the apartment. he sits at the table with a box cutter, carefully removing the notebook wrapped in tissue paper. it's pale gold with white accents, a color scheme painfully similar to fukurodani's. he flips through, greeted by lined pages. "it's perfect. thank you."

"did you see the inside cover?"

the cover? he flips to the front, chest seizing at the inscription. pour your soul into everything you do! but remember to stay safe. the text is written in a stylized font. love you so much, koutarou

“thank you very much, kou. i have you as just as much.” perhaps more, but love has never been easy to quantify, not when it comes to either of them.

for the next few months, the gifts continue. they keep them small, save the luxurious gifts for anniversaries and birthdays. it's an arrangement bokuto doesn't mind continuing, until one day, he decides he wants his next gift to be meaningful. it takes him a while to settle on something, and when he finally picks it out, he dutifully waits for keiji to visit at the end of the month.

their embrace is warm and long, arms cradling one another. bokuto takes his boyfriend's bag, guides him inside his apartment, where dinner awaits.

it's easy for their conversation to flow, jumping from topic to topic as they catch each other up on recent happenings. after dinner, keiji tries to gather the dishes, but bokuto stops him, gestures for him to sit. "it's only fair if i help," keiji tries to argue, but bokuto shakes his head.

"don't worry, it isn't a lot! just sit tight."

keiji remains at the table, just as bokuto hoped. he moves from the sink to the fridge, where a cake chills inside, retrieving his gift from the neighboring drawer. "ready for dessert?"

"first, a home cooked meal, and now, dessert," keiji muses, watching him unveil the decadent vanilla yuzu cake from an upscaled bakery close to the gym. "are we celebrating something special?"

bokuto splits the cake into two halves before answering, "actually, yeah."

"oh." his boyfriend falls quiet. "i'm sorry, did i miss our anniversary date? wasn't it-"

"nope, you didn't miss anything! this day is special for another reason."

keiji watches him, eyes rippling with anticipation. bokuto takes a breath. "today, eight years ago, was the day i fell in love with you." he takes a knee. "today, eight days later, is the day i ask you something really important."

"kou, you don't mean-"

he takes his ring box out from his pocket. "will you-"

the box is knocked out of the hand from keiji throwing himself at him, arms tight like a vice, tears streaming down his cheeks. "yes," he sobs. "yes."

bokuto laughs softly, holding him close. "at least let me ask."

"you needn't to. i won’t change my answer.”

"but i want to! please?"

keiji pulls away, nodding with reddened eyes and streaming nose. bokuto takes his hand, picks up the fallen ring box, gently opening it. "akaashi keiji, will you marry me?"

there is no definitive answer this time, replaced with more tears and a thousand kisses. bokuto reciprocates every single one, because if he can't give keiji the world, he'll have to settle with the next best thing – himself.

There are a lot of MSBY Jackals fanfictions which detail reactions to SakuAtsu, BokuAka, and KageHina, but I need some that deal with Sendai Frogs fans reactions to TsukkiYama and KyouHaba.

The two most prickly players (I know it is heavily implied Kyoutani chilled out but he must still have some edge to him) in the entire league reveal they not only have civilian partners but have been married to them for years. Oh, and their husbands are the actual scary ones in the relationship.

Hey :)

I'm a huge Bokuaka shipper. For me they are canon. What do you think happend after Bokuto finished school? In my mind he tried to get held back so he could stay with Akaashi, but Kuroo stopped him. How was Akaashi's first time back and realizing that Bokuto wasn't there? Do you think they moved in after Akaashi graduated (with Honors of course) I like to think that Bokuto proposed like after a month of them being together. Like: "You will always be my favorite setter and I want to cuddle with you all the time, so please marry me! We would be the bestest of husbands!" And then Akaashi has to remind Bokuto that gay marriage isn't legal in Japan, so Bokuto wants to move or ask Kenma to use all his followers to make a petition. What do you think?

Here's the thing, I'm still relatively new to shipping them, so you will have to excuse some inaccuracies /lh (As said before, I was criminally sleeping on them).

However for you dear anon (and in general because I love getting asks), here are some thoughts!

(Quick sidenote, Bokuto getting the impulse to repeat the year is adorable.)

Bokuto graduating would definitely affect Akaashi a lot. Being a more reserved person, Bokuto helped get him out of his shell. I'd think his anxiety would get really bad too, on some days more than others. (Speaking from personal experience here) having someone who is very reassuring and confident when you yourself are not is A+ support.

That is why I can see Akaashi graduating with honors too, pouring all he can into his work to occupy his mind, seek assurance and stability in things like grades since his support pillar and crush greatest friend, the star giving him light isn't by his side right now.

I think it would also be hard for him to adjust, sitting alone at lunch so suddenly for example. He often packed more lunch than he could eat so Bokuto could steal some from his bento previously, but now the sight of his half-eaten lunch box gives him this pit in his stomach.

Similarly, I'm also pretty confident in thinking that Bokuto has his insecurities and bad days too. He doesn't let it show often but he does miss Akaashi and entering a new career path where everything is suddenly so serious, so grave, is overwhelming. He'd like to hear Akaashi's advice or maybe even his ridiculing (Bokuto admires his intelligence), get his help on things he can't fully comprehend not because he's too dumb to, but because he isn't sure if he fits into this adult life just yet. Or hey, just having Akaashi's presence would help. Doing things together always benefitted both of them.

When it came to volleyball Bokuto stayed longer, practising even after training was over (with Akaashi staying as well to set for him) but when he joins the ranks of professional players he tries to substitute that and takes really, really long walks. Kind of similar in nature to him hiding in tight spaces (which he still does I'd say) he takes time for himself, isolated. The walks don't always clear his mind in a way he'd like but exhausting his body is a somewhat pleasant side effect to help him sleep later.

I'd like to think they'd move together too but additionally their schedules are dreadfully full at first, meaning they barely see each other despite it. They try to arrange a weekly night out or have specific days where they make sure to eat dinner together to mediate it (it doesn't always work but most of the time? sure).

I do like your take on them getting married early on but I want to also offer an alternative: Bokuto can either barely get the words out, so he procrastinates on it OR they both don't really feel the need to have their commitment down on paper. To both of them it is pretty much a given that they'll grow old together. I do think Bokuto would get them promise rings though.

And I do think Bokuto is be very prideful about having such a wonderful partner. He wears the promise ring on a necklace when he's playing or carries it with him in a different way, kind of like a talisman for good luck and support. He gets interviewed after being seen wearing it and does get adorably happy, shamelessly explaining that he has a wonderful boyfriend (Akaashi nearly goes into cardiac arrest when one of his co-workers shows the clip of it to him).

Kind of keeping your theme of Bokuto advocating for same-sex marriage in Japan because I find it terrific, I think that that aforementioned clip would garner quite the mixed attention. Bokuto rarely gets irritated but when people start developing this habit to talk in a more condescending way or ask backhanded questions he is QUICK to shut them down. Some people are quick to assume he's dumb or too oblivious to pick up on it… He does.

Anyway, I hope I could do them justice!! Thank you so much for the ask, anon :]
