Levi being all Ariel-y in love but with his foul mouth, all he is saying is “shit, you’re a brat, but holy fucking poseidon, you are so fucking pretty I wanna have legs so I can walk with you.” Ahhhh i am running laps I love mermaid levi and it’s officially May.

You first saw the merman last summer. On a trip with your close friend Hange in search of "exotic species" in the ocean. which was silly because everything could be considered exotic in these waters.

But what truly embodied that description was a figure who'd occasionally pop their head up on the surface of the water to watch you explore the tide pools in the early mornings. Hange didn't tag along on these particular expeditions, for they were the farthest from being a morning person.

Which was a shame because that's when you found the most interesting creatures in the water.

Though this man never approached you, never came close enough to even see his face. He was merely a shadow in the water, the top of a head peeking shyly at you. There was a point where you might've thought he was merely a figment of your imagination if he didn't speak on the last few days you explored that area of the beach.

You picked up a shell to examine it closely, watching how it shimmered under the early morning sun.

"That's poisonous," a voice spoke out in the shallow water. It's the same figure that's quietly observed you the last few months. Speaking actual words that you can understand.

You blink at him, momentarily entranced by the low baritone in his warning. Then you smile. "No it's not."

His brow furrows as the rest of his head leaves the water to get a closer look at what you're holding. He swims a few inches towards you. You still, allowing him to observe the shell in your palm. It's the closest he's ever gotten to you and--to put it bluntly?

He's beautiful.

His long, blue tail shines just under the surface of the water. The end of his tail, seemingly a translucent set of fins, flicker slightly under your gaze. The ends of his hair stick to his face as he rises up from the water. A tentative hand snakes up to yours, poking the shell. 

Your breath can’t leave your lungs in this proximity. He’s so close.

Part of you wonders if it’s safe to be in thigh-high water with this man--creature swimming this close by. What’s to say he hasn’t been watching your behavior for hunting purposes all summer?

“Could you stop gawking? You look like a fish.”

“Funny, coming from someone with gills--” you quickly retort. He huffs, smacking the shell out of your hand with a glare. 

“Tell your shitty friend to stop taking things from the water,” is all he says before swimming off, a light splash of his tail reaching your arms. 

You stand there, watching his silhouette disappear behind the small swell of a wave. 

It was the last time you saw him that summer, no sign of the top of his head, or the flicker of his fins. Merely the few words prompting you to suggest you and Hange find another collection spot for their antics. And the faint memory of him that lingered throughout the rest of the year.

Summer approaches after what feels like an eternity. The thought of that unknown sort-of-man fades into a distant memory over the long months. And despite the little inhibitions on venturing out to Hange's distant relative's beachhouse for "extensive research", you tag along anyway.

"I'm tellin' ya! Erwin said mermaids exist and I can't tell if he's messing with me or if they're real. But I'm gonna find out! He said they like to come out during dusk since people don't really go in the water."

"I don't think any would come out if we're in the water right now, though. They might be scared." You glance around, the orange hues ripple across the surface of the water at your ankles. There's been no sign of any "mermaids" or "mermen" alike. "Or they really don't exist."

Hange hums, disappointment evident on their face as they push up their glasses. Though it doesn't last long, their habits for turning any negative situation into a positive allows them to perk up quickly. "We will try again tomorrow!"

You've had your reasons for not telling Hange of your interactions last year. For fear of looking or sounding delusional--but there was also a slight fear of what Hange would try to do to were they to actually see him. Even if he was kind of rude, it wouldn't be fair to subject him to Hange's antics for now.

You don't mention the possibility of trying to look for them in the morning, but you still try to find him yourself.

The first month passes without any sign of him. So you resort to looking for the unique shells you usually hunt for in your free time.

"Didn't I tell you to stop taking things from the water?"

You jump, dropping the handful of shells you were sifting through in your palm and effectively undoing all your hard work. When you turn around, it's him. The same grumpy upper half of his face peeking over the water. The same tone of his voice that could pass off as a lecture for bad behavior-as if he's chastising a child.

"You told me to tell my friend," you defend. His glare hardens. "And I don't take them unless they're broken."

"Why would you take something broken? That's stupid."

"Because an animal might need the unbroken one, duh--hey!"

His tail swishes, causing a small wave to splash your upper half. "That's what you get."

"For what?!"

"Telling your crazy friend about... me. They come out here everyday now."

So he was watching?

"I didn't say anything about you. Another friend suggested the idea--but I think it was a joke."

"A shitty joke."

"I didn't tell them about you," you persist.

"Keep it that way," he snips with a flick of his hair from his face. His silver-blue eyes glance at the rising sun. "I shouldn't even be talking to you. You shouldn't know I exist."

"I won't tell anyone."

The blue lands on you now, narrowing in scrutinization. He says nothing before making a move to leave.

"Wait!"

He stops, but doesn't turn around.

"Could you tell me your name at least?"

Water drips down from the tips of his locks, cascading down his toned shoulders and back into the sea.

"Levi."

And then he's gone again.

It goes on like this for another month. You quietly seek him out under the facade of looking at shells. He observes from afar with a periodic question that's usually followed by a snip of sarcasm. There's not much conversation happening, but he does stare. Much more than you do.

Sometimes Levi will swim around  in the deeper parts of the water, his presence only being announced by a quick swish of his tail. He's not too close, but not too far either.

"What do you do with those, anyway?" He asks one day, noting the small pile of broken shells that sit on the rock you've perched yourself on top of. Your feet dangle in the water as you soak up the early morning sun. The water may be cold, but it serves to soothe the already obscenely warm air.

"Put them in a jar. Make necklaces out of them sometimes."

Levi scoffs as he props himself halfway up on the rock a few feet away.

You frown at him. "For someone who holds so much disdain towards people, you sure do come by here often."

Indignant, Levi's tail flickers in consideration of splashing you again. A habit of his when he has nothing better to respond with. "I was here first."

"Do you want me to leave?"

He blinks, jaw clenching with deliberation. "Do what you want."

So you stay. He doesn't leave either.

"You said you shouldn't be talking to me."

"The others say people are dangerous. One of you is."

"I could be dangerous."

"Not as much as Glasses. I've seen that fishing net they drag around with them."

“They’re too loud to catch anything. Scares all the fish away the second they get near the water.” 

“Doesn’t surprise me. Hey, you missed one.” Levi scoots closer, his pinky brushing against your outer thigh as he reaches to pick out a missed broken shell. Both of you flinch, meet eyes--and then avert away. “Sorry.”

“It’s okay. I don’t mind or anything.” 

His tail swishes side to side. “You always stare at it,” Levi notes. The water sprawls off the edges of the fins that rise over the surface. 

“I don’t mean to.” 

“...Do you wanna touch it?”

"You'd let me?"

It swishes closer to your ankles, tickling your skin. You reach down, brushing off the blue-eyed stare that watches with caution, yet hinted with a sort of expectancy. 

So slowly, the tips of fingers meet the edges of his shimmering scales. He twitches, but your curiosity serves to persist with the careful strokes. It’s slimy, but not as bad as you assumed. His breath stutters, tail freezes.

"it's pretty," you mumble, watching the iridescent glow from his waist to the end of his fins. When you meet his gaze, he blinks. His cheeks pink as his throat bobs from a nervous swallow. You scoot closer in his direction on the rock, shin bumping into his tail again.

"You can feel mine, too," you suggest. He swallows again, chest rising and falling. It seems he's been curious about your legs too with how he reaches over. His knuckle grazes over the top of your right thigh.

The instinctive shudder causes him to pull back. "Sorry, it tickled."

Levi waits one heartbeat before returning. His finger trails from your knee up to your shorts, experimentally tugging on the material.

"This feels disgusting."

"Well I have to wear it or I'd be naked."

"So? We're naked all the time."

"Even if you have... You know."

His head tilts, brows pinched in genuine confusion. Your face warms. "Um, nevermind."

Another gentle wave rolls through the water, nudging Levi's tail into your shins. His hand dips under the water and skates around your ankles. Your feet wiggle out of reaction.

"Why do you come out here when they tell you not to?"

He hums in thought. "I like to watch those." Levi points upwards into the sky. Clouds. "Can't see them so well at home."

"What's it like? Your home.'

"Dry.'

"Really?"

"Seriously? It was a joke."

"I don't know! Don't laugh!!"

"I have this--" his tail flips against the water surface,"--or did you forget?"

“Fine. Don’t tell me anything interesting.”

“Don’t pout, it’s unbecoming.”

You scoff, kicking water towards him and he pushes off from the rock. He pops under the surface and there’s a split second where you believe he might’ve left. Until his head peeks over the water again. If he were floating further up, then you might've caught the smile at the corners of his lips.

You hang out almost every morning after that. Offering hints of each other’s lives and different perspectives of the world. You tell him how Hange’s still adamant on catching a “mermaid”, and how they’ve traveled miles down the beach from where they originally started. 

He tells you how he gets scolded for leaving without telling his family where he’s going. And how over the weeks, the world beyond water might even be a little intriguing despite how troublesome the boats and “obnoxious Glasses” are. 

One might’ve thought you two had grown to become acquaintances--friends even. And on the last day it feels almost melancholic knowing you won’t return until next summer. With no way to contact Levi. 

“You’re coming back, right?” He asks.

“Yup, next year.” You grin at the question, tilting your head. “Try not to miss me too much.”

“As if I would.” 

The splashes of saltwater on each other have become more of a sign of affection rather than annoyance. 

“It’s too bad we can’t like... write to each other.”

“You could use a conch shell. Sure you’ve grabbed at least a thousand of ‘em this summer.”

“What--like a cellphone?”

“I’m fucking kidding. You think we’d actually use conch shells to communicate?”

“I don’t know--maybe!!” 

A smirk spreads across Levi’s cheeks as his eyes roll. “You better come back next summer.” 

He pokes your thigh, just like so many times he’s already done the last couple of months. Small touches, looks, changes of expression. In your time together, you’ve come to the realization he might’ve softened up a bit. 

“I will,” you reassure, your palm slipping over the top of his wet hand. “Promise.”

i really like your meta/read-through posts and have a slightly odd question - i know the art style kinda devolves into same face/body type for most characters eventually, but before that, who do you think are meant to be the most objectively attractive characters in-universe, male and female? i'd like to track this as a reference for generating my own headcanons/etc, but after a point in the story all the guys have six-pack abs and all the ladies are generically cute and busty so... your thoughts?

Hmmm... honestly, it's a half-half on whether FT characters are canonically attractive or just attractive in Lucy's eyes. Let's go with somewhere down the middle of that. I'd say any girl that's made an appearance in canon Sorcerer spreads is considered canonically super attractive. I'd put a hold on putting guys on similar ranks though, since boys seem to be more based on strength. I'm currently memory blanking on everything from Alvarez onwards so don't mind me not mentioning them.

Note that I'm not caring for the harvest festival in fantasia, that was a real life popularity poll and thus has no standing in canon popularity.

For the girls: Top on the list are definitely Erza and Mirajane! They're pretty much specifically known for being drop-dead gorgeous who can kill you also. I'd put the mainliners of Mermaid Heel here, with Jenny Realight and Karen Lilica. Aries and Aquarius are also always mentioned for their beauty. Cana should be around here as well. Also Minerva. It feels weird to put Wendy and Chelia here, but they're canonically absolutely the cutest little angels in the world, so they fit on this scale in their own way. Human Carla too. And Ultear! Almost forgot Ultear. ALMOST FORGOT NIRVANA ARC SHERRY

Girls that are canonically considered 'upper to mid' or to whoever's tastes: Lucy, Bisca, Levy, Juvia? Not sure about Juvia, I feel she's complimented for both her strength and sometimes her appearance, but mostly it's just Lyon for the latter? Kinana! Virgo! I wanted to put Evergreen up top, but now that I think about it, maybe it's because of her ego, but she's never truly made out to be as attractive as she thinks she is. She's gorgeous to me, but everyone canonically just goes 'yeah, yeah' to her and she is always immediately shot down by being compared to Erza.

For the boys: The Trimens, Loke, and Jellal/Siegrain to cross off the obvious ones. They were all on Lucy's hotties list. Lyon. Freed. Gray if he has his clothes on.

For the boys, it's a bit harder to gauge. Cause for the boys, sometimes they're just hailed for being strong and buff, which means we go into some other attractiveness category. Elfman and Natsu are on this end, but they'd never cross over into the ranking with the Trimens-- but then again, Laxus and Gray could be in both! So, it's complicated. And Jason is enthusiastic about both of them so yeah. Also, while the girls are attractive no matter what, the boys always have a 'but' to them that drags them down on the scale. Loke's a womanizer, so Lucy is turned off. Gray's cool, but where are his clothes? etc.

Also, while most of our girls are on a canon attractive scale of some sort, most of our boys seem to be on a canon unattractive scale. Yes this is because Mashima and I think that's kinda funny

Pairing: Merman!Levi x Mermaid!Reader

Concept: Levi has been courting you as tradition asks and is finally ready to pop the question. He goes out to find the perfect pearl for you and finds a rare one. He makes you a ring and asks you to marry him.

Levi swam quickly out of the edges of the city with a soft blush on his cheeks. He slowed down when he reached the oyster fields. He picked up different oysters and inspected them. He listened to his heart closely. He knew it had to show his pure love for you.

He swam further and towards where humans would be. Humans knew about merpeople and they were nice about it, but Levi didn't like them too much because they liked him for being different and thought it was fun to try and be with a merperson.

He stopped by an oyster and picked it up. He opened it to see a pearl shaped like a heart. "Perfection."

He took the pearl and swam back to the home he shared with you. He checked you weren't home before he started making the ring for you. He smiled softly at his work. He put it in a little box and placed it in a bag. He was so happy and proud of what he'd done.

Levi perked up when you swam into the home. "Welcome home."

You swam over to Levi and hugged him tightly. "Hi, honey. I'm glad to be home. I missed you!" You showered his face in kisses before sitting on his lap. "Can we go out?"

"Sure."

"I know just where to go!" You kissed Levi and swam around. "I'm excited. I'll get my bag."

Levi hummed a laugh as he felt pure love in his heart for you. He checked his fin ears in the mirror before placing on his courting crown. He turned to you and felt flustered by you wearing your crown. "Pretty."

You lightly touch your crown as you blushed. "Thank you. I really love yours."

Levi whimpered. "Thank you." He swam over to you and held your hand. "Ready?"

You nodded and pulled him along as you went out of town. You squeezed Levi's hand so he squeezed it back. You felt your heart flutter as you took Levi to the underwater crystal caves. You stopped and sat in the right spot.

You held up your hand to stop Levi from speaking. "Wait a moment."

He hummed and looked around. His eyes widened when the sun shined into the cave just right and lit up the whole place. Levi gasped at the white sparkles. "This...this is stunning." He looked down to see you in front of him blushing hard. He said your name softly. "What are you doing?"

You whined as you pulled out a box from your bag. You opened a little box to show a ring. "Marry me, Levi,"

Levi blushed hard. "You..." He yanked his box out of his bag and showed you the ring. "I was thinking the same thing. Marry me."

You stared at the heart ring and giggled. "Yes, I will."

Levi smiled. "Yes to you too." He put your ring on and then accepted his ring from you. "I can't believe we both planned this."

You giggled. "Just goes to show how much we love each other." You sat on his lap and nuzzled the gills on his neck. "I love you."

"I love you, always." He massaged your side. "How about we take a trip on the above world?"

"I think that'd be lovely."

"Okay MC, I know we just finished 'Swimming Only Leads to Hot Mermaids,' but I was thinking since we are already watching otomes, we should watch another series that everyone is recommending online!" Levi says this as he begins to pull out one DVD and place in another while bouncing on the balls of his feet like an excited puppy.

"I guess I could watch one more series, but it better be a good one. Sure the mermaids were attractive, but there wasn't much of a plot." MC says with a yawn. A quick look over to the clock, and it reads 11:48 PM in a blinding blue light. Not too late for one of Levi's normal bingefests, but a little too late for MC when they have classes tomorrow.

"No, I promise this one is good. Everyone is talking about the art style. They say it is so original that it's captivating." Levi walks to the small futon briskly and plops himself down next to MC as he continues to ramble about the art. His voice slowly trails off as the opening begins to play.

As the music fills MC's ears, they perk up and a small smile appears on their face. "Levi, could this perhaps be, 'I Went to Hell For a Weekend and Got Stuck in a Love Heptagon with Seven Incubi'?"

Levi faces MC in shock. The look on their face is quite smug. (In all seriousness, it reminds Levi of Mammon when he wins poker, but he doesn't want to be think about his brother while looking at MC. So he pushes that thought away.) This anime came out only the day before their bingefest. And even then, Levi had this copy pre-ordered for this very occasion and it arrived before any stores were selling physical copies. There is no way a normie like MC could have heard about its release. Does this mean MC isn't such a normie after all?

"You heard of this show already?" The surprise in his voice was impossible to hide.

"Yeah, I have heard of it." MC smiles and chuckles quietly, "I have never actually seen it, but I have heard the opening quite a few times."

"Oh..." Levi sighs. He was so stupid. Of course MC had heard the opening. It is all over his Devilgram and they were on their phone for part of the last show, so they obviously just heard it on there. Levi deflates looking solemn. It was just a pipe dream that MC would ever be interested in his yucky otaku interests.

"Hey! There is no reason to be all sad just because I know the name of the show. I still haven't seen the whole thing. My first time watching will still be with you Levi, isn't that special enough?" The smile on MC's face seemed sincere enough, but the words that came out of their mouth made blood rush up to Levi's cheeks. Their first... did they really mean to say it like that?...

As thoughts begin to flood Leviathan's head the show began. It was true the art style was captivating. So captivating in fact, that he forgot about his embarrassment. But MC's words still lingered in his mind as he watched the show.

"Well, I am dead tired." MC stands cracking their aching joints as they look at the clock. 2:37 AM. It was that late already? "I think I need to head to bed Levi. I have classes in the morning and I need at least a few hours of sleep."

"Are you sure?" Levi was just starting to enjoy MC's presence. At the beginning of the night, he was on edge trying to make everything perfect. Levi did want to mess up by being a yucky Otaku and give them a reason to leave him all alone. But as the night progressed, (and more snacks were consumed) he felt increasingly more comfortable with sharing his favorite shows with MC. "I have other shows we could watch to pass the time, or we could play this new game I got-"

MC walks over to Levi and gently sets their hands on his shoulders, "Games and anime are great, but what I need right now is sleep." MC watched as Levi's face filled with a blush and his eyes flashed with hurt. "I am not leaving because I am mad... or sad... or anything really. I just need to sleep, Leviathan." Their voice was barely above a whisper as they said his name. How could he disagree with them when they said his name like that; all the while, looking deep into his eyes. He felt like he could explode.

As MC turns away, the demon in question then sighs mutters a quiet "okay" under his breath. "Don't worry, Levi. This isn't the last time I will watch anime with you. I promise we can do another one of these when another new anime comes out." MC begins to pick up their things. A blanket they brought with them to keep warm in Levi's cold room and the rest of their human snacks. "Besides, I really liked that one, and I have heard they are already making season two." As they speak, MC makes their way across the room to the gigantic tank.

"Wait. How do you-"

"Good night Henry. Good night Levi." And with that, MC leaves. Closing the door behind them.

How did MC know about a second season? Even he, the Great Otaku Levi, has not heard about a season two on any forums or on any other website... After thinking about it, Levi suspects it's probably on Devilgram like the opening was. To prove his theory, he pulls out his D.D.D. and opens up Devilgram to the 'I Went to Hell For a Weekend and Got Stuck in a Love Heptagon with Seven Incubi' page. He scrolls through their posts and finds the opening, like he predicted, but what he didn't predict was their most recent post.

"This show would not have been possible without MC. Thank you for making such a great story and great art to go along with it!"

Levi reads the caption once, twice, thrice and is speechless. The photo for this post is none other than his MC standing with a hand drawn piece of the protagonist. He can even see their signature in the corner when he zooms in! He knew that they liked to draw, but he never thought they would make an anime.

Without thinking, Levi gets up and begins to run to MC's room. He needs to know that this isn't some sort of elaborate prank that MC and Satan brewed up to make him like a normie more.

The door to MC's room busts open, "MC!" The room is completely dark except for the light shining in through the doorway.

"Levi...? Is that you? Is something wrong?" MC's voice is soft and laced with sleep. If this were any other time, Levi would have screamed over their cuteness, but today he had a mission. He immediately marches up to the half asleep MC and promptly shoves his phone in their face.

"Did you make 'I Went to Hell For a Weekend and Got Stuck in a Love Heptagon with Seven Incubi'?" MC sits up and squints as their eyes adjust to the blinding screen and look at the post.

"Um... yeah. That's me isn't it?" Silence takes over the room, before Levi begins to scream.

"WAHHHHH! MC, why didn't you tell me!" Thankfully with the phone only being pointed at MC, they can't see the blush spreading across his face.

"Well, I didn't want you to treat me differently because I make anime." Laying back down as they speak, MC tucks a pillow under their head and looks up to where they guess Leviathan's face is. "Besides, I thought it was really cute how you were fanboying, and I didn't want you to stop because you knew you were in the presence of the creator." A small smile makes it's way on to MC's face as Levi feels his own get hotter.

Now covering his face, Levi quickly makes his way to the door while muttering, "You can't just say things like that..." As he begins to close the door, he pauses and opens it up again while looking back, "Can you tell me more about your show tomorrow, MC?" His voice sounds small compared to his previous scream.

"Of course Levi. We can talk for as long as you like."

He’s doing room checks as usual

And you left your sketchpad/drawing tablet out on your desk

You catch sight of it a bit too late and can only watch as Lucifer moves from your dresser to your desk

He pauses as his eyes spot the sketchpad/tablet

He picks it up and looks at it before glancing at you

“May I?”

You nod and nervously watch him go through your work

His face is unreadable as he goes through drawing after drawing of him and his brothers

It feels like an eternity before he finishes

“Do you do commissions?”

It takes a moment for you to register what he’s said

“...what?”

“I’d like to commission you.”

If you do traditional art he asks for a 30x40 of him and his brothers

If you do digital art he asks for a colored, full-body piece of him and his brothers

He lets you decide how much you want to be paid

But he thinks it’s not enough so he pays you 55,000 Grimm

The 30x40 piece hangs in his study

The colored, full-body piece is printed, framed, and sitting on his desk

Mammon:

He bursts into your room one night when you’re finishing up a drawing of Satan and Asmo

You’re not fast enough to hide it from him

“Is that Satan and Asmo? Oi! Where’s my drawing!?”

Before you can show him anything else he’s speaking again

“N-not that I care! It’s hard to capture this perfection! I can see why you haven’t drawn me!”

He tries to act unbothered, but you can see past his tsundere ways

Once he’s done declaring how unbothered he is, you show him some pieces with him in it

He grabs the pad/tablet excitedly and snatches it from you to marvel over your work

“This is actually really good, ya know? I bet we could make some good Grimm off your little talent.”

You can practically see the dollar signs in his eyes

But you tell him that is not happening and take your pad/tablet back

He’s a bit mopey about it for a little but eventually lets it go when he sees you aren’t budging

When he does have a little bit of Grimm he does commission you for a small piece

The brothers’ eyes almost bulge out of their head when they hear that Mammon actually paid you for work

“What!? The Great Mammon can be nice sometimes! It doesn’t mean anything!”

It means a lot actually

But you’re a pro at reading between the lines with Mammon

Leviathan:

He’s on social media when he sees a drawing on his explore page that he’s absolutely in love with

The art style? Immaculate. He wanted to see so many of his favorite game and anime characters in this style

He imagines Ruri-chan in your art style and his brain just *internet dial-up noises* for about five minutes

He goes to the artist’s profile and starts scrolling through all their posted work

He pauses when he comes across a drawing that looked suspiciously like him in his demon form

The face was blacked out but the serpentine tail, the horns, the diamonds on the neck, the side zipped hoodie

It had to be him

In shock, he scrolls back to the top of the profile and checks out the bio and name of the artist

He is greeted by a very familiar face and name

He is in your room less than 2 minutes later

“You! Y-You did this!?”

You almost drop your pad/tablet thanks to his outburst and abrupt entrance

You look at the DDD that was shoved in your face and slowly nod

You thought he was gonna blow up at you for posting a drawing of him, even though his face wasn’t in it

You are very wrong

Levi becomes your #1 source of income

The moment you finish a piece, he is commissioning you again

You worry that he’s draining his bank account because he tips you very well

But he isn’t bothered at all by it

All of your pieces are on display in his room

He also posts all of your art on his social media and tags you

Your page explodes in popularity and the commissions are rolling in from his online friends

You had no idea otakus pay so well

Mammon is very jealous of the amount of Grimm you have piling up

Satan:

One day he asks you about your hobbies and you tell him you draw

“What do you draw?”

Cue internal conflict on if it’s weird to tell someone you’ve been drawing them and their brothers since you’re always around each other

He senses your hesitation and like the smart ass he is, he’s able to guess exactly why 

“Would your hesitance be because of the subject of your art?”

He knows too much for his own good

You decide it’s best for him to see it instead of telling him

Being a fan of literary art, you were worried he may be overly critical of your fine art

He was not the type to sugarcoat anything

However, he simply smiles and hands your pad/tablet back

“You’re incredibly talented, MC.”

A few days later he asks you to tag along with him while he handles something

That ‘something’ is going to feed some stray cats he’s come across

“MC, I’d like to commission you. I’ve found homes for these cats but I want something to remember them by. Will you help me?”

How can you say no to a man holding four cats in his arms?

You take some photos for reference and make four different pieces for him

When you give them to Satan, you swear you’ve never seen a bigger smile on his face

He framed them all and keeps them on top of his bookshelves

Asmodeus:

He found out through Levi’s social media

He commissioned you for a piece of him and the protagonist of a game he recently started playing

This piques Asmo’s interest and he wonders if you’ve ever drawn him before

He approaches you when you’re in the kitchen grabbing a drink

“Hi, darling. I saw the piece you did for Levi and naturally if you’ve done one of him you’ve probably drawn my beauty as well, right?”

You decide to show him since he brought it up

He’s gushing over all of your art

No, seriously, he is praising you so much even the tip of your ears start burning from your blush

He commissions you to draw him in many different ways 

Him in his bedroom, him in the bath, him as a mermaid, him as an exotic dancer

He comes to you with so many different ideas

He tests your limits but you actually like that

Beelzebub:

Beel is rather stoic, but he doesn’t mean to be

It was his resting face and smiling was usually reserved for eating yummy food

But you wanted to practice drawing him with different expressions

Beel’s welcoming manner gave you the courage to approach him and ask if you can take some pictures of him to use for a reference

He’s shocked you wanna draw him but agrees with the condition that he gets to see some of your other work

You show him different pieces of him and his brothers and he’s smiling the entire time

“These are all so good. I didn’t know you could draw.”

He commissions a piece of him and Belphegor and one of all seven brothers

But he also asks if he can watch you draw them

You both spend quite a few nights together

You drawing and him munching on snacks and feeding you some every once in a while

His presence is actually pretty calming so you ask him if he minds staying around while you work even after you finish his commission

Beel being Beel, agrees to keep you company

The night usually ends with him carrying you to bed

Sometimes, he takes you to his bed to cuddle

Belphegor:

Belphie was actually the first brother you drew

You came across him asleep in the attic once and he looked so perfect

Your fingers were itching to draw him, so you did

It became a routine for you to head to the attic and draw him while he slept

You always crept out before he woke up

You thought he had no idea of your little practice sessions

But one day you looked down to fix a mistake you made on his nose

When you looked back up you saw Belphie staring right at you

“You know, if you’re gonna draw me the least you can do is show me.”

You try to stammer out an apology as he sits up

“Oh, I don’t care. You don’t make noise or anything, I’m just very hyperaware of my surroundings. So I know when someone is in the same room as me when I sleep.”

He moves over to you and looks at your pad/tablet

“Hm, not bad MC. Show me your other work some time.”

Then he goes back to his sleeping spot, curls up, and falls back asleep

You sit there with your pencil/stylus in your hand, trying to wrap your head around what just happened

But he didn’t seem disturbed so you continue drawing

When he wakes up you show him more of your work featuring his brothers

He asks if he can have a quick sketch you did of him and Beel 

You jokingly say he has to pay for it

He actually pays you for it

He puts it up in his room

It’s nice to see when you visit him and Beel

Hi Lost! First of all I must say I absolutely adore your blog. Second of all: what do you think about the apparently upcoming official merch with the aot characters as zodiac signs? I'm not particularly an expert when it comes to astrology, but am I blind or is Levi a Capricorn? I've been zooming to the sign on his thorn's crown and it resembles Capricorn's sign. Capricorn's element is Earth, which makes it weird that he clearly is fulfilling his role in AU mermaid!Levi and Prince!Erwin.

You're absolutely right that Levi is pictured as Capricorn, which makes sense, because he is a Capricorn. And the reason that he looks like a horned mermaid is that Capricorn was originally pictured as a sea goat.

What's confusing me though is why Erwin is pictured as Leo because his birthday is in October which means he's a Libra. I can easily imagine him as a lion though!

I'm no astrologer, and I haven't checked the birthdates of the other characters, but it does rather look like the signs have been allocated to them randomly or on the base of what someone has decided would "suit" their character. Not that it matters, they're all cute as heck which is the main thing!

Elle's Obey Me Fic Recommendations

🌸Your Coal by Angrish(LettuceBean)

Truth be told, I belong to the "forgive but don't forget camp" in lieu of what happened in Chapter 16; reading Angrish's YC and how their MC coped with the aftermath(+ how others coped along with them) felt really powerful, raw and so so emotional. It made me think and really think about how I processed the whole thing that happened. While it didn't really change my outlook on how I have forgiven Belphie for what he had done, Angrish shedding light to the unanswered questions and lingering doubts the main story have left most of its readers was done in such a thoughtful and poetic way that I found myself binge reading the whole thing.

Given that I read this whole coping with a lot of stuff as well (and may have contributed with sympathising a lot more to the vindictiveness of the MC), reading what Angrish had written was really cathartic. Their writing style is also beautiful--the way the words string together, simple, elegant, yet impactful really made MC's emotions a lot...tangible, real and sometimes, frustrating (in a good way, mind you). I also liked how they had fleshed out the other characters, especially Belphegor, Satan and the Purgatory Hall members.

🌸You'll Have to Ask Your Dad by DefenestrationProtestration

I remembered clicking on this fic because of the author's punny name, stayed for the pretty writing and reread a few several times for the characterisation and THE WRITING. I'm pretty sure I left a litany of praises and incomprehensible gushing on the comments section because of how much I've devoured this piece of art.

Even as I'm typing this review, I can't seem to organise my thoughts haha. You can tell by the writing style that the author had a lot of fun writing their prose; it permeates through the screeen...my "screen" of imagination at least. I am not joking--the writing is so pretty and vivid that I literally saw it as a movie in my head lol. I chatted with them a bit on the comments and they said the prose is more of something they had written subconsciously; it reminded me of James Joyce and how he had masterfully perfected the same technique. Of course, their writing styles differ a lot from each other, but I can see what they meant.

...as I'm typing this, I didn't realise how I haven't talked about the plot of the fic at all soz. This piece is the author's character study of Lucifer. It talks about how he was before, during and after the fall. He is a bit of an unreliable narrator, which I'm not sure if the author intended, but he has all these presumptions that miss the mark so so much, particularly at how his brothers, Lord Diavolo and the others perceive him--but reading the whole thing would make you understand why he had gotten to that kind of self-perception in the first place. And honestly? It really, really hurt to read. But was it bad? The total opposite of that, in fact! I loved how they had written the angst in this piece. So many things in the fic are "show, rather than tell" and I really really appreciate that.

Most of my brainrot about this fic is better to be explored on your own. Overall, 10/10: a definite, recommended read.

🌸Fairy Tales for the Fallen by indiavolowetrust

I haven't fully devoured all of the stories in the collection yet, but the ones I've read (Her Name Was Thousand Eyes is my favourite) was such a really good spin on dark fairy tales (Obey Me style!). It reminded me of my childhood Little Mermaid picture book for some reason. Probably the writing style(the author's writing reads a lot like a storybook) The one I had was Hans Christian Andersen's (aka the OG) version and the ending was rather...dark for a 5 year old lol. It was a big part of my life though and was probably the precursor for my affinity with sad stories haha.

🌸TieGuanYin by Taciturn

Like tea on a tiring day, Taciturn's writing style feels very homey, cozy and familiar. I love rereading this oneshot when I'm having a shitty day and imagining myself having tea with Barbatos haha. Ever had pieces of art or literature that just...relaxes you when you consume it? This one is one of my, as the youngsters say, "comfort fic" haha.

I love unagis' fics.♡ I also love her Childe fics. The concepts she comes up with, as well as how she delivers it is *chef kiss*. Admittedly, I read this one when I was still a Satan stan, with all the suspicions and doubts about Solomon's intentions still rampant within me. Reading him blush and become flustered is CUTE and aaaaa this whole fic is just really cute.🥺♡

🌸The Eternal Storm by @sondepoch

Sondepoch's Satan oneshot was the very first fic I read in the OM fandom so it has a special place in my heart~ I remembered how awkward it was to skim through the Satan filters, looking for a gen fic/SFW fic because around that time, most OM fics are smut (no shade on smut ofc, I'm just super uncomfortable reading them unless the writing is really pretty or there's something else going on in the story). Finding GEN AND A WELL-WRITTEN CHARACTER STUDY about my (former) favourite OM character was like I hit the jackpot. I remembered that feeling really well haha. My bias with one of my favourite forms of fic (char. study) aside, Sondepoch's writing is easy on the eyes and is definitely a great entry for anyone who wants to be in the OM fandom.

🌸Read Me by GENE515

One of my more recent reads and definitely worth a mention!♡ Read Me was a beautifully written, heartfelt two-shot about Lucifer's love, which he tried his best to express in penned words. Probably because of my own love letter-themed OM series, this one really stuck to me haha. The author is also really sweet. :3

🌸Schrodinger by fickleminder

I read this one around Halloween and it definitely fit the occasion. Schrodinger was such a great thriller/horror fic with how it set its unsettling atmosphere from the very beginning--the way fickleminder's writing just sucks you in and makes you bystand the whole ordeal between Belphegor and MC was just...so suspenseful? Nail biting? Creepy (in a good way ofc)? I won't spoil the ending, but the process and way they tackled it was a lot scarier than what I was initially bracing myself for.

🌸Siberia by @polandspringz

Seeing another Obey Me mystery in AO3 really hyped me up! Polandspringz did a spectacular job in writing this series and I can relate so much with their experiences in writing for mystery. Their writing style is easy on the eyes--I also really liked how they characterised the OM characters I have read on their series so far. There's still quite a lot of stuff left in speculation (from my most recent reading at least), and I really look forward to see how everything unfolds!

🌸Tetris Syndrome by apocketfulofposies (NSFW)

I am very very uncomfortable with smut content, so the smut I've read can be counted on one hand. ;; That is to say, TS is one of the few smut that I really, really enjoyed. First of all, Levi's characterisation is on point. It was really really interesting to get in his head and read about his thought process. What is envy? And how much does the sin of envy really define him?

I really enjoyed Levi's internalisations, as well as the author's writing style. If you want smut with a brooding, jealous otaku boy, I really recommend this one!

Well I successfully finished the last attack I was doing for Art Fight but I didn’t manage to do anything else I was supposed to get done.

Ferals 31.7.21 Fantasy AU, D&D vibes but no specific borrowment, society is made up of humans(anime rules for what hair colors, styles, and enemy colors you can have, ect. normalized to Iruma-kun standards), ferals(shifters with two forms, a full animal form, and an anthropomorphic mostly human looking form with features from their animal form; ears, claws, eyes, horns, wings, patches of horns or scales, tails, ect.) and adventurers(hybrid between two incompatible types of ferals, eg. a dog and a bird, or a cat and a horse. Looks human and lacks animal traits or the ability to shift, but has increased agility/maneuverability, balance, speed, has mild electrosensory abilities and requires more electrolytes, and is harder to injure than a normal human). the vast majority of ferals are normal animals, but there are super rare ferals who are mythical creature like phoenixes, gryphons, ect. who can use the magic of that mythical race.

Someone pls tell me there is a better word I can use than feral, because I’m using it to avoid shifter but I don’t really like it either.

The world is not segregated and I’m not here to write about fantasy racism, I just wanted an excuse to have dragon Delkira in a cave be stumbled upon by Iruma. Some people (most everybody) are sacred of mythical ferals, but that’s because they’re incredibly rare, overwhelmingly powerful, and very dangerous. It’s split pretty evenly among humans and normal ferals, because quite frankly Delkira Is A DRAGON, and your local cat people are no more willing to poke that with a stick then the local humans are.

FAIRY TAIL NEXT GEN CHILDREN-GRUVIA EDITION

1-I know there is now a cannon child for edo Nalu and edo Gruvia with names and everything. I also know that Gajeel and Levy have twins and Levy is currently pregnant in 100 Years Quest.  I love it and their names and everything about those precious babies-but I’ve had these ideas and characters and backstories growing and developing in my head for years so I’m being the stubborn Taurus that I am and sticking with it.

2-Also please forgive any misspellings and grammar mistakes as I am dyslexic and my school failed us at teaching spelling and grammar. I did my best.

So I’ve spent most of the day working on the first two ships and editing everything so I figured why not just post the second one right away. 

And the next ship we’re doing on this crazy journey is my personal favorite my OTP to end all OTPS 

GRUVIA!!

Ah yes people... I’m in my happy place. 

THE FULLBUSTERS:

  Nicolai Sliver Fullbuster- Nicknames- Nick, Nicky, Nicky Bear (gotta love little sisters)

Birthday: March 15th, 797 (Bonus points if anyone gets the reference :P)

Magic: Ice Make Magic

Appearance:

-Height: 5’10 (same height as Gray)

-Hair: Dark and thick like Grays, slightly wavy curiosity of his mother.

-Eye color: Dark blue and large like he’s mother’s.

-Built like his father.

-He and Gray are the closest to clones.  

IMPORTANT FACTS:

-Gray doesn’t want his boy to deal with the consequences of being a demon slayer… so he doesn’t teach him how to be one. At least not completely. He does pass on some techniques and skills but nothing more.

-For example he teaches him Ice Make Sliver. 

-He got the name Nikolai Sliver from both of his grandfathers-I chose a Russian name because I have this idea in my head that in the real world Juvia would be Russian and nothing can convince me otherwise.

-Though he got over it eventually poor thing hated the cold and having to strip in the snow.

-He too got the illness Ultrear had, and while he didn’t get through it as easily as the Dragnell children he got through it in the end.  

And before anyone ask yes… he stripes.

Personality:

-Kind

-Loyal (but maybe not to a fault)

-Laid back like his father

-A little moody and temperamental at times

-Can be a bit reserved but more or less wears his heart on his sleeve like Juvia.

-Very imaginative like his mother… which sometimes lead him to being a little ditzy and spacy.

-Very loving

-Very protective of those he loves

-Definitely inherited Juvia’s possessiveness-when his sister was being introduced to the guild for the first time after she was born he grabbed hold of her little blanket, stood in front of her and said

“No! She’s MY baby sister!!”

-Gray QUICKLY helped him get it under control

-A huge romantic like Juvia…like MAJOR romantic. He even enjoys reading her romance novels (but don’t you dare tell anyone)

-He also enjoys drawing, doing anything in the snow and ice

-Very intelligent and did well in school-given his magic he was particularly skilled in art. No one understands how he managed to do so well in school because his note books are covered in doodles

-In general just a much more open and expressive person than his father or sister, much more like his mother.

Relationships:

-Extremely close with both of his parents-the Fullbusters are known for having a very close knit and loving family.

-Like almost every boy in this generation he is a total mama’s boy and you better not call him out on it.

-Also idolizes his father and wants to be just like him

-Absolutely adores his little sister is very gentle and sweet with her. He’s extremely protective of her  and one of the only four people he can be a little possessive over (the others being Lila and his parents).However, she can get on his nerves because like most little siblings she follows him everywhere and wants to do everything with him. Plus they can both be temperamental and stubborn. They are also so much alike yet express themselves in such different ways that it causes clashes.  As a result, they bicker the most out of any of the siblings in the next gen-but their fights never, EVER turn physical. But the bottom line is they are exceptionally close-so close in fact they are one of the only pairs in the next gen that can successfully pull of a Unison Raid.

-Real he just wants Eliza to stop calling him Nicky Bear… in public at least.

-The first of his two best friends is Simon Scarlet. At first it was a matter of convenience because he was the only boy in the guild close to her age, but it didn’t take too long to become genuine friends. They love to bond over their love of sweets. The other of course is Lila.

And naturally Happy… Happy is everyone’s best friend

-He has loved Lila pretty much his entire life-before he even understood what that feeling was. When he learned what the concept of marriage, he knew right away she was the one he was going to marry. As stated before he constantly referred to her as his wife as children and when they were older (like almost 20 or older than 20) he would say “You know I’m going to marry you one day Dragnell right?”

Elizaveta/ Eliza/ Liza Ur Fullbuster

   Birthday: November 23rd, 801

Magic: Water.

Appearance:

Height: 5’2 (a couple of inches shorter than Juvia who is 5’4 according to the Wiki)

Hair: Long, thick and wavy like Juvia’s, dark like Gray’s

Eyes: Juvia’s shape but dark like Gray’s

-She has the same gifted build as Juvia, but somehow a little more fragile looking

-Has her father’s smile

-Yes that beautiful beautiful smile 

-Has heard from Gray that despite her strong resemblance to her mother something about her reminds him of his mother

IMPORTANT FACTS:

-Elizaveta or Eliza Ultear got her name from Juvia’s mother and obviously Ultear. Eliza is what she goes by and only those closest with her call her Liza

-Eliza was born five weeks early and this caused… problems. She was extremely sick as a baby. She ended up becoming dyslexic. Finally, it messed with her powers. She has water powers like her mother, but because she was born so early they are technically incomplete because her body isn’t completely made of water like Juvia. This means she’s not impervious to physical attacks, but she makes up for it in other ways.

-Due to being born early and being a little sickly, when she got that infamous illness all the children in the next gem see to get Ultear’s illness (I have no idea what else to call it) she got hit the worse. She actually came close to dying and Gray and Juvia were told to expect the worst.

-Because of this, despite obviously being a skilled and well trained wizard, Eliza is more known for her emotion strength and endurance rather than her physical strength (at least until she was almost an adult)

-Is definitely no ice wizard and can’t stand the cold, but did learn some tricks including how to freeze her rain into snow or freezing rain.

And yes… she is absolutely forbidden to strip under any and all circumstances unless she doesn’t want to see the outside world until she’s 30 or until Gray is dead… which ever comes first

Personality:

-Massive, huge heart of gold

-Very sweet

-Very shy and introverted

-Extremely reserved, keeps everything close to her chest like her father

-Appears laid back but is a ball of emotion and anxiety and occasional bouts of depression

-Comes off as an ethereal, sweet, Mary Jane type of dainty princess when she is anything but

-Actually, has a very snarky, sarcastic sense of humor a la Gray and is just funny like her mother.

-Is never willing to start a fight but if you push her enough she follows the same line of thought as Lila;

-Is very stubborn, moody and temperamental at times

-Very ambitious and always smiling despite everything that’s happened to her.

-Is quiet laid back with her language when she’s older and has been known to swear.

-Is also great at impressions.

-Has Juvia’s quiet astounding imagination and is definitely a dreamer.

-Is a HUGE romantic, openly reading her mother’s romance novels. Otherwise she’s very good at hiding it… mostly.

-Exceptionally smart but struggles with math and is a slow reader because of her dyslexia. She excels in history and music.

-I have a head cannon that Juvia can sing because of all the hydration she gets from having a water body, mermaids/sirens luring sailors with their voices and because apparently Juvia’s voice actress can sing. So Eliza inherited that gift but never sings on stage for the public.

 RELATIONSHIPS:

-Because of how sickly she has always been, and because she was the first girl born to the guild a string of boys, and because of how bad she’s treated by kids at school, Eliza is utterly spoiled and a little coddled by all. No on one minds though because she never acts spoiled. She just loves having such a safe and warm space to fall.

-Like her brother is super close to her parents.

-Juvia is her rock and the pair are inseparable.

-She is also daddy’s littler girl though don’t you ever get her to admit it. They love joking around with each other and just talking.

-She adores and idolizes her big brother-her Nicky Bear. She always wanted to follow him around and do what he did-which after a certain point would get on his nerves. She also sometimes get annoyed with how protective he can be. They can both be a little possessive over each other and their parents.  As mentioned before they have many of the same personality traits but express them in different ways, so they bicker a lot. But in the end she would be lost without him.

-Like her mother Eliza was unfortunately bullied badly by kids outside the guild and even more unfortunate a few kids in the guild. So her three closest friends are Lila Dragnell, Hazel Redfox and much to her chagrin Iggy Dragnell.

-Iggy is the only person who can flare her temper on the daily and who she has fought with-he never fights with more than words but from time to time she will blast him with water just to get him to leave her alone. He is more or less the annoying younger brother she never asked for but similar to her own brother would be lost without him.

-And before you ask no she has not and will never have a crush or any romantic feelings for Iggy… but Simon Scarlet on the other hand….

-Has a love hate relationship with Happy after he was flying her around ounce and dropped her from pretty high up which gave her a fear of heights.
