Toxic law culture is watching your coworker stay at the office past midnight to work on something and then get reamed out the next day because it doesn’t meet the mercurial standards of senior counsel or the “partners”.  And he wonders why I continually refuse to work past office closing hours.

What did/do you like about Pharah?
Uh, gameplay-wise, I really love characters in shooters who rely on three-dimensional movement techs. Chaining together hover and jump to stay in the air for as long as possible and keep momentum is so satisfying, and picking enemies off from the sky made me feel like a bird of prey. I was a good Pharah main.
Story-wise, there unfortunately isn't much to canonically go off because Pharah is so underutilized and neglected. Her personality's pretty boilerplate "heroic hero" (she's literally inspired by Captain America).
But it's the crumbs/bits and pieces that I really latched onto. Pharah's a confirmed lesbian; her short story with Baptiste implies she harbors a crush on Mercy (fucking thank you.). She's biracial Egyptian/First Nations. She has major mommy issues, having grown up both admiring and resenting Ana. She's the bridge between Old Overwatch, inspired by the idealized heroes who surrounded her childhood, and New Overwatch. She's one of the only inter-generational characters in the cast; someone whose experiences span the gap, which is why I seriously believe Pharah would make a great main character.
There isn't much to go off of, though; she's a very uncomplicated character (she's a soldier for a private military corporation, lol.). But that just means she's a blank slate character, so I've seen fanfic writers run wild and create some really interesting takes on her. My favorite interpretation of her's a dense, herbo gym-bro type (a lot of her liens are about work outs, exercising, and playing sports) who's easily excitable under her seemingly self-serious, armored visage. We see how she tends to gloat and hype herself up when she's on a streak too, so Pharah definitely has a competitive and boastful side under her more professional and militant performance.
Now Mercy? Mercy is a real complex character.
#i was a diehard pharmercy shipper back then btw#the inherent homoerotic experience of pharmercy gameplay.#the homoerotic experience of looking to the skies to fly to safety under the protection of your knight in shining armor#the homoerotic experience of feeling white hot murderous rage at an enemy trying to pick off your pocket mercy#i still kinda despise gency lmao. you cannot convince me mercy would be in love with genji. at all.#he'd make her feel so uncomfortable and guilty. in my head. the canon is obviously different#gency is sexless. absolutely zero bite or tension.#i could go on about mercy and how her character has so much missed potential#i'm no longer in my overwatch fandom phase but#i still think about that new flirty line they added in ow2 where mercy goes “ahh you're like my knight in shining armor!”#and pharah goes “that's what i'm goin for ;)” and i sigh dreamily#really happy that pharah outright says she's a lesbian too but it's hard to feel good about rep when you know blizzard uses it for pr#to be honest i'm willing to bet cash that blizzard's keeping pharmercy in their back pocket as ammo for the next controversy#last year we already saw logs about pharah fretting and taking care of mercy and the two talking about how good it is to see each other#tbh pharah has the same energy/demeanor as applejack. cheerful and competitive in a can of whoopass#but yeah overall pharah's a pretty shallow character. i have IDEAS on how i'd go about deepening her but. whatever#that's sorta what happens when you have to juggle a cast of 40 characters. a lot get left with the bare minimum#ok so i wrote this entire post up saying that pharah isn't in ow2's storymode when she is. she's in the story i just. forgot#because she doesn't do or contribute anything interesting#ok i'm stopping here. overwatch's story is such an interesting narrative mess i could go on for hours#i dunno how you come up with such incredible character designs and give them such an unincredible story#it's also so so so interesting seeing the conflicting takes on characters the writers have#mercy in gameplay and voicelines is peppy and cheerful and optimistic#but mercy in the storymode journal logs is tired. jaded. a total shut in who forgets to leave her room and social#and YES! THAT'S WHAT I WANT!!! THAT'S MERCY TO ME!!! THE DOCTOR WHO FORGETS TO TAKE CARE OF HERSELF#ask me#anon

Sejanus would be the best dad in the world and coryo would be like the dad that you aren’t 100 percent sure loves you, until one day it’s been snowing and you look outside and you dad has already cleaned the snow off of your car and put snow chains on your tires.
I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with this sentiment. I think they would kind of be perfect parents together.
Sejanus would literally be the perfect father. Sure he makes mistakes but everyone does, he is constantly aware of the way he treats his child/children and he consistently makes an effort to do better than he already does. He it outwards in his affection, he shows it in obvious ways and makes sure they know how much they mean to him and how every mistake they make is inconsequential because they are growing and learning. He can become a helicopter parent and sometimes overstep because he wants to make doubly sure that they’re feeling okay and they’re safe.
He becomes the father he never got to have.
Coriolanus? He is absent. He is an echo of his own father in the sense that he is hardly there, more like a ghost than a parent. He shows he cares by doing little things and truly expecting a grand thank you in return, because at least he didn’t die. He loves his child/children but it’s tough love, and he pushes them to do better always always always. He believes that they are sort of like assets that reflect on him, so he allows them to become respectable individuals without overbearing every step of the way, because that’s all he knows.

「 Kim Dokja thought: Yoo Joonghyuk is now in the Gilobat Industrial Complex. 」 At first, I purely felt gratitude. Ah! Yoo Joonghyuk was a decent person! That jerk hit the industrial complex to save me! I felt thrilled for a while without thinking much. Then once I thought about it, I couldn't believe it. That Yoo Joonghyuk entered the Gilobat Industrial Complex to save me? In the first place, it was strange that Yoo Joonghyuk knew about my crisis. How could a guy who wasn't a constellation or have access to a channel know about my crisis? Thus, Yoo Joonghyuk was likely to do the opposite of coming to my rescue. He noticed that I impersonated him and came to the Demon Realm to pick me up. In the meantime, something went wrong and he headed to the Gilobat Industrial Complex first where he went through an unnecessary dispute and overturned the industrial complex. I couldn't even fathom how much rage it felt to do that.
Tumblr media
Hey, remember when Uriel and Joonghyuk had that conversation about saving Dokja and Joonghyuk gave those absolutely atrocious excuses as to why he was "really" going to the Demon Realm, you know the ones that were so bad Uriel straight up started laughing at him right in his face?
Remember how Joonghyuk was soooooo obvious in his desire to save Dokja that nobody would ever believe his bullshit mumbling about 'usable items' or some shit?
Well great news!
THE ONE PERSON IN THE ENTIRE STARSTREAM WHO ACTUALLY BELIEVES JOONGHYUK'S UTTER NONSENSE IS KIM FREAKING DOKJA
In fact, Joonghyuk didn't even have to give his excuses, Dokja just thought them up all on his own!
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Disclaimer: I barely know what I'm talking about. I'm just putting some thoughts out there because I'm honestly confused about some things. These are the words of someone who can barely understand what anyone is saying and also trusts no one on the internet. I've accepted that I am too stupid to understand this conflict and no matter how much research I try to do, I will never understand any of it. Believe me, I have tried. These are the ramblings of a confused idiot who is out of the loop on everything and will never really be in the loop.
You can add your own thoughts or disagree. But don't yell at me for my thoughts. I've tried to educate myself, but that has failed. But I still want to throw some thoughts into the discussion using my limited understand of everything. I will likely be turning off notifications to this post if too many people shout at me for not understand shit or agreeing with them, so probably don't try to change my mind. Just say what you want to say and add your own essays in the reblogs.
~~~~~~~~~
I've been trying not to say too much about the Israel-Palestine conflict (not just Gaza, but in general) since it's so complicated and messy and I'm not informed enough on another country's massive, decades-long conflict for me to feel comfortable commenting on it. However, I have had a little nugget in my brain that has been bothering me for a while now. A common Zionist argument I occasionally see is that Palestinians aren't actually "indigenous" to the region of Israel-Palestine, and that they are invaders. They came from somewhere else to live in that area, and therefore aren't "the true people of Israel." But I find this argument rather silly and a bit hard to believe.
First off, and I'm not even saying this as an argument against Israel, but isn't the whole point of Jewish mythology (mythology is the technical term) that Israel is "the Promised Land?" As in, the end point? The final destination rather than the start? Maybe I'm confused and need to brush up on Jewish mythology, but from what I remember, the Hebrews came from a different region in the Middle East, then migrated to the region where Israel is. Therefore, they didn't exactly "originate" from there either.
It's also kind of hard to believe that there weren't already other people who were living there already. And then Abraham and his family moved to Egypt anyways due to drought, and the Hebrews were there for hundreds of years before coming back to Israel. And by the time they'd come back, a bunch of other ethnic groups had already made their homes in Israel, as people had been doing likely long before Abraham and his family first came to the region.
And even if Abraham and his family originally came from that region, Abraham already lived in civilization. Civilization still existed there, and people were still living there. Abraham was basically part of a different ethnic group before he created the Hebrews. Therefore, the Hebrews would be from Israel, but so would all of the other people already living there who weren't descendants of Abraham.
Whether or not you believe that the region belonged to the Hebrews by the will of God, all those other mfs were still living there first. You can say that you own the land because God said so, but you can't truthfully say that all the people who were there before Abraham was even born are not native to the region.
Even if we're not looking at Biblical accounts, realistically discussing archaeology and patterns throughout history leads us to the conclusion that there was no singular native ethnic group in Israel.
It is well known that Israel has had, like, hundreds of different peoples who have lived there at different points throughout history. It has switched around a lot of times, and has definitely had multiple ethnic groups living there at the same time. It is a region that has historically been diverse, and many have called it home.
On top of that, who is to say that Palestinians aren't actually also natives to that region? I've heard some people say that the Palestinians are decended from Arabs who invaded the region, but is it really true that all of them are of Arab decent? Again, this area is incredibly diverse, and I'm pretty sure it was ethnically diverse even before Israel was founded. It's unlikely that
Also, haven't the Palestinians been living there for thousands of years anyways? Because in that case, I'd say it's questionable to declare a pretty diverse group of Middle Eastern brown folks to not be native to a region they have been living in for hundreds/thousands of years.
Especially when a large number of those who moved to Israel when it was founded (refounded?) back in 1948 were of white European decent. I believe that Israel is still the homeland of the Jewish people, but is a white Jewish person whose family has been living in Europe for hundreds of years really more native to the Middle East than a brown person whose family has been living in Palestine for hundreds of years?
Like, I see these white ass mfs sitting here saying "I belong here more than you" to these brown people who have been there for generations. This statement is not about Jewish folks who have been living in the Middle East for generations, mainly just those of European decent who declare that the land belongs to them more than those who have been there forever.
I still believe that the Hebrews should be considered "indigenous" to Israel, but to say that they are more indigenous seems disingenuous when both groups migrated to the region. No one group has ever been the true native group of that area, and I feel that either side arguing that the other is not native to the region is full of shit.
We don't know who is native to the region. We barely even know if Israelis and Palestinians each are made of singular ethnic groups. So I feel like declaring the "One True Indigenous Group" is pointless and redundant to the discussion. Either both are or neither are. Shut the fuck up.
nothing in this show makes sense or means anything anyway lol but i stumbled upon this article claiming that max and billy’s first day at school was the day before halloween and it got me thinking. this means either that they moved to hawkins sometime during the summer and simply didn’t enrol for more than a month before school started — which seems unlikely? considering neil’s respect-and-responsibility maxim — or that the assumption that something major happened that led neil to such a drastic move across the country is canonically confirmed which. it’s insane that it was never touched upon again? like it’s obvious the duffers couldn’t care to check the dates or come up with something so dramatic it would warrant a family uprooting one month into the new school year — billy’s last one, no less — but that only adds a layer of tragedy to billy’s story and reinforces the isolation of his character, since it’s almost certain the move had to do with him (boy-related or mom-related). it means that neither billy nor max had any time to prepare. if neil was trying to keep billy away from something/someone desperately enough to snatch them out of school, max and billy definitely didn’t get enough time to say goodbye to friends and familiar places. they were plucked and abandoned in a completely new place. a month into the beginning of the new school year, surrounded by unfamiliar faces. no one but each other to rely on. it means neil knew exactly how immense the toll of isolation weighing on billy would be, and had intended it as one more variable of the punishment he thought billy deserved. it means billy had a whole month of hope, starting his last year of school back home, thinking one year. just one more, planning a life without a neil-shaped shadow over him. a false taste of happiness before the rug was pulled and billy died to save a town full of people who, if the roles were reversed, would never return the favor <3
You know. It does kinda grind my gears that those ‘fem DNI’ blogs CONTINUALLY interact with me and my work. It’s so incredibly invalidating gender wise as well because I keep having to rephrase that I AM a woman. Yes I identify as non-binary was well, but I still consider myself and identify as a woman and have ties to womanhood (me being a lesbian). So I’m a woman in my own way, and I’d appreciate it if people ACKNOWLEDGED THAT.
All in all, if I can’t interact with you, don’t interact with me
can't even celebrate charles' p3 till the fia decision comes out but i just want to say that not only ferrari fucked the strategy on the second start, not only they didn't tell sainz to make sure to give charles over a 5 second gap when the guy in p5 was behind by 6 or 7 seconds, they didn't even tell charles about the potential penalty and that he needed that 5 second gap to cover the podium until after the race.
if that's not sabotage idk what is.
