I am losing my fucking mind over this scene. The look on Price's face. The soft hum, the smile, the eyes, the "good to see you again, Simon". Not Ghost. Simon.

I had this in mind during the boxing fic. He wasn't joking. Lieutenant Simon Riley is his favourite. The history these two have. It's a fic writer's wet dream.

Also, the symbolism of Ghost taking off his mask? The trust, but also, he's part of the team. He's starting off where they are, as Simon, and they'll put the skull mask on together. As one. They're all Ghost now. The Ghost identity will protect them as it has protected him since he lost everything.

I still can’t move on from how every time Merlin tries to kill Mordred, he never does it first hand.

Merlin tries to let Uther deal with Mordred (even if he is a kid), and almost avoids his call for help when they need to let Mordred escape.

Once more, when Merlin meets Mordred and he is surrounded by Camelot’s knights, Merlin watches and doesn’t use his magic to help Mordred.

Another time, Merlin meets Mordred and makes him lose balance, so that the Camelot’s knights can kill him.

And then, when Merlin and Arthur meet Mordred again after years, Merlin tells Arthur that he should have killed him when he had the chance, but Merlin never once used his own magic to kill Mordred.

Another time Merlin tries to kill Mordred is always by telling Arthur that there is no place for magic in Camelot.

And another one, when Merlin, Mordred and Arthur are on their way to rescue Gwen and get attacked by Aithusa, Merlin just leaves Mordred there to fend for himself, hoping he dies.

I can’t stop thinking about the fact that when Merlin says to Arthur that he has magic, he also says:

“I defeated the Saxons, the dragon, and yet… Yet I knew it was Mordred I must stop.”

But it’s not Merlin referring only to the battle of Camlann, is it?

It’s Merlin acknowledging his mistakes, to have let this run for much longer than he intended to, like with Morgana. It’s like the more Merlin tries to avoid Arthur’s fate, the more HE MAKES UP Arthur’s fate.

And not only that, but it could mean two other things:

that after all Merlin goes through, that shaped him into who he is after all these long years in Camelot, no matter what he did, deep down, he is still Merlin. He doesn’t want to kill anyone.

Or: he is doing what people like Gaius do. Let others deal with it.

Merlin “grew up”, yes. But did he, really?

There is a difference between growing up, and NEEDING to grow up to fulfill some destiny, while “working behind the scenes”, knowing full well that the smallest mistake could get you killed for something you can’t either change nor control.

Merlin grew up to not have trust.

To be scared. To be lonely.

But he also tries to deceive destiny. He thought he could be smarter than it. And he still makes the same mistakes, while creating what he is literally trying to avoid.

Yet he has Arthur, and that’s what matters to him.

But it’s also Merlin’s doom, his undoing.

And consequently, it’s Arthur’s too.

Just heard from one of my followers (and via someone on Twitter who is also there) that Michael is back in London and seeing Kiss Me, Kate on the West End tonight. I'm truly hoping he went to the show with David, and I can just picture them in the audience, waiting until the lights go down to hold hands. Leaning over periodically and whispering/giggling to each other in hushed tones as they try not to draw attention to themselves. Everyone around them knowing, but having the good grace not to say anything, and to leave them be on their date.

But yes. The Cardiff run of Nye ended a mere three days ago, and yet Michael has returned to London already to see his boyfriend. God, how you love to see it...
