#Been thinking of posting more non-Fandom art tbh

Suddenly, hundreds of strangers have been exposed to MY art and my overwhelming feelings are, "I really should have spent some extra minutes on cleaning up the flat colors and adding more line weight" and "What if some of those strangers follow me home only to find out the majority of my recent output has been for my edgy, pretty-boy-ification of a retro Kirby last boss?!"

it always makes me really happy to see artists that are more 'fandom-centric' by nature posting their OCs and other things along that line and getting positive feedback, which then in turn causes them to create and post more OC stuff tbh (this is meant 100% genuinely, i apologise if the way i phrased it is a little stilted or odd, i just love seeing non fandom content on my dash)

anyways, feel free to use this ask as a free pass to give us some random tidbits about your OCs and their stories! whatever is swirling around in there that you haven't been about to find a spot to talk about just yet would be great /gen

tbh i always drew my own characters and stories since childhood but started doing fanart when i joined my first big fandom back then (which was bleach in my teenage years); i kept drawing my own things until college between fanart here and there but the moment i made my art blog here i neglected my works more and more and did more fanart instead (for fgo back then). i havent drawn any of my comics again for 4 years or smth but now that my sister got back into hers again she motivated me to pick up my old stories again!!

i think bc ppl were so excited abt my fanart i always knew my own stuff wouldnt get as much reaction so i didnt even try and then just stopped working on it hhjhdfkj but yea, now that my sister gave me motivation and energy and now that i see ppl are actually liking my stuff its smth else aaaa. sry for rambling, i just wanted to clarify that im not fandom-centric by nature, it just happened over the time

anw idk what i should babble abt so uhhh have a fun fact:

not only is this specific story the first proper, planned through one i drew in my teenage years, its also the one that got me in trouble and caused a lot of serious pain bc my adoptive father snooped in my room back then and stole specific pages (like gore or smut scenes, yea i was edgy but also heavily traumatized and in a very bad place) and made up random shit about it to make fun of me, expose me by showing my friends and others and claim outrageous stuff. i tried to remake it later but always stopped with each version and never attempted to revive this story again bc it always filled me with shame and horror knowing he still owns these pages. me redrawing it now is lit the first time in YEARS that i touch it again and it feels very healing, like im seeing my teenage self again drawing this stuff with sm passion and not the person anymore who trampled on it and used it to cause me pain. bc that exact thing was what kept me from working on it again. i just couldnt do it.

(as usual w personal stuff, im just sharing this very dry like facts and i get uncomfortable when people send comfort so ye, reminder to not do that please)

Well, unknown hero agent man / pen symbolism anon, i hope you're reading this, cos you hit the nail on the head! this kind of symbolic storytelling is not only a fine art of cinema (being lost these days a little sadly, what with the whole netflix speedy turnover etc), but exactly what (good) films of the horror genre aim to do.

horror has long been a way to creatively tell 'normal' dramatic stories through subtext and symbolism. not sure if this is still a way around traditional censorship but im sure it began that way. films like the exorcist, the shining, rosemary's baby... all classics that are filled with subtext. its also an exciting way to talk about things that might seem trite or too bleak when portrayed as a 'straight' drama (this is the term meaning 'non-genre based' or 'non-musical' lmao). So you could say that ST is NOT straight, in more ways than one 😉

but much of this will go over casual viewers heads, so its finding the balance between making a story believable on the surface (another dimension exists! scary government men trying to kill us!) and subtextually (the UD as a metaphor for trauma/AIDS/closeted homosexuality/abuse etc) if viewers are clever enough to see/feel it. i say feel because much of storyviewing is instinctive instead of analytical.

so ST incorporates both - not just metaphorical, vague storytelling, but also real issues too. but it goes one step further, and actually has characters talk explicitly about reading deeper into stuff (murray's behind the curtain speech). it's a very meta show, even for a genre piece, which is why it astounds me that some people think it's not that deep lol. and some people think that only literature can be deep, but never tv or movies - which is an insult to anyone who has ever been passionate about cinema tbh. It's a statement that would probably rip the heart out of the duffers' chests and stomp on it. these guys are super nerds who have dedicated their adult lives to this passion project. as finn said, 'most people make it then just cash in - im so glad they still care'.

I'm sorry you don't feel comfortable talking about the beauty of this storytelling on your main. it really does surprise me that the fandom is so censorship obsessed because sexual metaphors have long existed in visual media, and especially in horror films. there used to be a long post about byler and a potential sex scene at lover's lake on here, but the user disappeared and the post went missing. it was about all the sexual imagery in ST, with a focus on byler in s4. i especially loved how they mentioned mike's introduction, where he was just in underwear: it is both appropriate for the setting, but also gets the audience used to him as a growing lad with a body and draws attention to those uncomfortable, potentially sexual aspects of being a teen. i mean, he was in tiny pants for god's sake. did we need to see that? why did we see it? etc etc

hilariously, they also referenced the always sunny in philadelphia scene where a character is in a therapist office talking about a pen being a dick. he then puts it in his mouth and chews the pen lmoao

i think you'd enjoy @therainscene's rod symbolism post too. I'm personally hoping for some explicit sex scenes with byler, because the show so far has arguably been telling that story metaphorically already for 4 seasons, and bringing it out of the subtext could be a storytelling device in itself. bringing byler's secrets into the light. after all, this is a period piece that aims to shed light on a bygone era. its not a propaganda piece that needs to remain coded; the reasons for staying secretive still exist for mike and will in the 80s, but times have changed since then for us as a global audience, and more importantly, the aspirational message has changed. what message would the duffs want to send to viewers that are still bigoted? clearly one of the beauty of homosexuality, seeing as will, our fav gay boy, has been the darling sympathetic victim of the show since s1e1. the show needs to remain true to both the 80s while also having a strong message for this decade in order for modern audiences to be able to gain something from watching this story; in order for there to be a reason the show exists at all.

so to answer your question, i had never picked up on the pen symbolism until now, but i immediately agree, not least because 1) it must have a meaning that connects to byler's conversation otherwise why does it just interrupt them with no reason? (from a storytelling pov), and 2) because of the always sunny scene lolllll

It leaves me very confused and a little sad that there isn’t a richer, larger, more united and more enthusiastic fanbase for the Avatar movies. I’ve been waiting for commentaries on the second movie, both indulging and critical, and there’s a mere trickle of content appearing in the tags. So far, they all fall in weirdly isolated columns of character x reader, Kiri stans, ‘I loved the movie!’ one liners, ‘boycott Avatar’, Na’vi learners and people being horny over clone!Quaritch on main. 

There isn’t much meta despite the universe being huge, fairly consistent, and ever-expanding. The like-to-reblog ratio on posts is catastrophic. There’s not much art. I miss people being excited. I miss discourse, headcanons and AUs! I miss people giving detailed reasons for the way they respond to the movie, no matter whether they liked it or not. Nothing seems to stick despite so many refined details, e.g. the Metkayina using sign language underwater and having inner eyelids like amphibians! Or the fact that the explanations for the use of English, Kiri’s and Spider’s existence etc. were quite thought-out and satisfying. 

Sure, there’s the epic Pandoran world on one hand, and then there’s of course the “Cameronism”: The two-pronged personal fantasy of the director who is playfully exploring colonialism as negative while reaffirming it in the same breath, combined with a bland, overly conservative story. If the plot really reflects Cameron’s thinking, it is dangerously outdated by 15-20 years and cannot stay relevant. But the point to me is: It was to be expected. 

Avatar and Avatar The Way Of Water are US-American Hollywood stories based on military culture. Once you know that, it is my firm belief that it’s possible to detach yourself from that lense. But perhaps I really am arguing from a merely European perspective that is so used to mediocre language dubs, the strange obsession with heroism, patriotism, weapons and violence, and other US-specific phenomenons that just feel generally outlandish to non-US viewers. We don’t have the same problems, so being constantly faced with yours through entertainment media causes us to... kinda tune those out and enjoy what’s left, tbh. Because some of them are really painfully cringe up to completely unthinkable to the rest of the world. Even the first Avatar was never intended as a global story; - although the RDA is supposedly composed of international players, the representation on Pandora is purely US-American, even more, it’s not even covering all of your own ethnic variety. So if we can’t even expect European, Asian, African and South-American scientists in the space mission, what are we supposed to expect about indigenous voices of smaller civilizations? 

What I’m trying to say is, US media currently have a certain range of messages they convey even here in Europe, because, well, you still have the monopoly on filmmaking and we watch all of your stuff. However, we are very aware that your POV is narrow and limited since it rarely actually applies to us. And sooo, what do we do with the reality of our own exclusion that we are inevitably constantly reflecting? We ignore it, we roll our eyes and don’t think too deeply on it, we leave you guys to solve your own problems and enjoy what’s given. Perhaps we are able to separate a fantastic narrative from the cultural/ political clashes that come with it a little better, because most of the time, we don’t identify with the latter. I’m not saying the differences are in any way good or that they should stay that way. I’m saying that from where I’m at, Batman, Spiderman and Avatar don’t look too different to me when it comes to elaborate escapist fantasies about good vs. evil, and media might not quite be as relevant to conflicts as they seem in the US. Education is much more important, and to act in real life rather than in fiction. As for me, I’ll appreciate Avatar like any other fandom space, because the concept is extraordinary, its future potential still enormous, and I would love for more positive interaction. I harbor the sliiiight hope that Cameron might grow out of his current spree and redeem himself in one of the later sequels. Since there are going to be 3 more of them, you know. There you go :)

Well...Happy 1 year of QSMP I guess...

There's just no easy way to say anything about everything that's been happening the past few weeks and everything that's happened since yesterday because it's a fucking dumpster fire and I'm just so tired of it all to be honest...

But this post isn't about that.

I still want to celebrate this server's first year anniversary because of how much it means to me personally. I made a post talking about how I initially started watching the qsmp (two days early 💀) but I'll reiterate what I've always said:

That despite all the problems of the server, despite all the damage that has been done, never forget what it has managed to achieve and hopefully continues to achieve in the future, under better conditions.

The QSMP's mission was to unite people from all over the world to play together and be friends despite speaking different languages and having different cultures. It united communities and formed friendships across the globe. Personally, achieving that takes more than just sticking random people in the same room together because it's about making genuine connections that could last a lifetime. And the qsmp achieved that. I'll never stop saying this because despite all its glaring problems, the qsmp is revolutionary for all the good it has managed to do.

Ok, like think about the translations alone. I'm using Bad as an example because he's the only one so far that I've seen do this but, BBH has set up live translations of multiple languages on his screen so non-english speakers can still understand his streams and his vods even if he's not playing on the qsmp. That wouldn't have happened without the QSMP's influence. That's fucking incredible!

Think about all the CC's and admins that became friends after meeting on the server. Former admins like Lumi (Pomme) and Shade (Dapper) still talking to Bad on his chat and watching his stream. That's still really awesome! Not to mention all the amazing collaboration projects with many qsmp members outside minecraft like Ordem Paranormal and Liar Liar, to name a few.

Look, the last three weeks have been extremely difficult on everyone. I myself am tired of the situation and scrolling through the tag, especially after yesterday, just makes me sad tbh. For the first time since these weeks, I felt so despondent and shocked about everything. It got to the point where, after Shade and Lumi announced their departure, I called my mom and broke down sobbing and vented about the whole admin situation. And bless her heart, my mom actually listened and I'm going to share the advice she gave me:

"Let them fix the problem. Let the company do the restructuring they need to do because right now, it sounds like they have a lot of problems to fix. It's going to take a long time before things can go back to any sense of normalcy, so while they do that, focus on yourself for now. If you're so invested in all the problems of this online world, maybe it's time to step back for now. Maybe it's time to focus on the real world."

And well, she's right. I've been so upset about the situation that my mental health wasn't faring well because of it. Yesterday was kind of a wake up call for me I guess?

I've been in this fandom for 10 months now. It's the longest time I've been invested in a community and qsmp has and will always have a special place in my heart. But I think it's time to let go and move on for now. I'll keep my hopes up and hope that the future is bright, and the qsmp will continue because it has so much potential to achieve more greatness, but I'll leave the project to rest and focus on other endeavors for now.

I'll be posting art and checking in on stuff from time to time, and of course, I'll be watching BBH, but it might be time to depart and say, "Thanks for everything, and I'll see you later."

Most people will be ashamed to mention the fandoms they've been a part of when they were younger, but 10 years from now, if anyone ever asks if I was a part of the qsmp fandom, I'll gladly say yes and tell all the good stories I have about it.

I love the community we made here on qsmpblr, and if I trust the QSMP's mission of uniting people, then I trust that, no matter what happens, this community will be here when I return.

Because...Despite everything, it's all about love, right? And no matter what happens, the love is still there, and will always be.

Hello! I'm super late to the aot and aruani train (having just binged the entire show start to finish like 2 months ago over 4 days lmao) but I just gotta say that I really enjoyed your Fort Salta series! Annie and Armin were legit my favourites already during my first watch of the anime, and it really saddened me to know that it seems alot of people online really hate Annie? Like (no hate on any other characters) but Annie is legit best girl how tf can people hate on her ;-; Anyways, I've been ecstatic since I've found your fics and blog along with many others (shoutout to distortedclouds and flailingkittylover too!!) bc it felt like I finally found my people - good to know I'm not the only one brain-rotting from this show and especially over these two xD I've been dying to talk to someone about this recent discovery of mine since I've started reading the manga though...did you know that Armin has been taller than Annie since even before she was crystalized?? In the anime he's like the shortest person pre-timeskip beside Historia, but turns out it's not the case in the manga! In volume 8 when Armin confronts Annie in Stohess, he's clearly drawn to be slightly taller than her in the scene - I thought it was just a perspective error, but it's drawn that way over multiple pages so it's definitely intended! Makes the whole height/size difference thing even more adorable omg ;-;

Ahhh hello there! First off: Welcome, welcome to the Aot fandom, and the AruAni fandom in particular! No time is too late, we're all happy to have one new aruani fan join in haha xD

I agree that while it's very sad seeing the Annie haters, it's best to ignore them. They may have their reasons or not (tho tbh, those of us in the Annie/AruAni fandom would say they just have a very poor or nil understanding of her character). Annie's an extremely well written character honestly; @distortedclouds and I once had this conversation where she was talking about how Isayama managed to give Annie flawless character development in spite of portraying her as the non-typical badass female (in that she doesn't have huge, heroic ambitions and etc) - and I agreed wholeheartedly. Annie's very strong and lethal, but in her vulnerability and desire to be loved and wanted, I think we can all see a bit of ourselves.

Wait I digressed xD My point: Annie's best girl, and we stay away from the haters and stick to worshipping her. Strengthening the Temple of Annie Leonhardt must be our ultimate goal.

I would go on a rant about Armin too being the best, bestest, bestestest boy, and of our other goal of strengthening the Temple of Armin Arlert, but that is for another post, maybe xD

Regarding the height difference! I believe it's an established fact that Armin has always been taller than Annie, right from the beginning. If I remember right, the official Character Guidebook (2014) which was based on the first 11 volumes of the manga, listed Armin as 163cms while Annie was 153. While he's one of the shortest among the boys in general (and post-timeskip he's taller than Levi), he's been at least a whole head taller than Annie ever since they joined the military. Post timeskip, he's 169cms while Annie remains apparently unchanged, so the gap is larger, and likely to grow an inch or two more (since he's only 19). Anyway, yes it's fucking cute, and don't get me started on the size difference 🫠🫠🫠

Event poll results!

(summary version)

So last week I opened a poll to check what kind of YR fandom events you guys wanted to see and the respondents were... how shall I put it... "very excited" is most applicable I think? ;)

Because I'm a nerd who likes to analyze the results but also doesn't want to chase her entire following away, I'm going to make two result posts:

This post, where I will summarize the results as succint as I can, and address some of the remarks and suggestions that I received. I'll also make a conclusion on what I would suggest to do - feedback on that is certainly welcome!

A second post (which I'll link when I finish it, most likely tomorrow or even after cause I'm slow as fuck) with some more graphs, percentages, observations, cause I don't know shit about statistics but that won't stop me from having fun with it!

Fair warning - it's pretty long. I just find it easier to explain a little about the decisions I'm (not) taking, both to invite discussion and because I don't want this to be a black box blog that does whatever and you never know why. That being said...

RESULTS

I received 72 responses, 36 writers and 36 readers.

The top 3 most wanted events by READERS is: Big Bang (89%), Theme Week (86%), and Weekly Challenges (83%). The event they were least excited about is Author Interviews (56%).

The top 3 events writers most want to PARTICIPATE in is, in order: Author Interviews (69%), Theme Week (64%), and Fic Exchange (61%). The events they DO NOT want to participate in are Author Interviews (25%), very closely followed by Big Bang and Advent (both 22%).

READERS were (very) slightly more excited about a Wilmon theme week rather than a general YR week. WRITERS clearly preferred a general YR week. For both groups, a YR women week comes in third, and rarepair week is fourth.

All types of weekly writing challenges suggested scored similarly.

(I know some of these seem contradictory, which I why I'll make the second post explaining how I calculated these rankings and why -for example- Author Interviews are both the most AND the least popular event for writers ;) )

SUGGESTIONS

A lot of people wrote in suggestions, which I was SUPER happy about (I closed the form now but if you have any more, please just hit my inbox or DM me at @hilliska). A few people also offered to help, which I'm definitely gonna hold you to when decisions are starting to get made! ;)

Many people were excited about possible collabs between writers and artists.

"What about a "finish your draft/wip" or "write a new chapter on a wip". I have so many languishing WIPs…" I think this is an EXCELLENT idea tbh - though we could incorporate it in the big bang by allowing wips as well. Also, as an FYI, there is also a (non-fandom-specific) Finish Your Shit-Big Bang that takes place every year (though this year's round is close to posting already) ;).

"I’d also love to see more Podfic in this fandom, but I don’t know how that could be an event." I have zero experience with podfic but this does sound (ha!) like it could be fun. Maybe someone has experience with this from a different fandom? (honestly I'd love to experiment with this so hmu)

"Authors sign up to take one shot requests or readers get to write a prompt. Or if readers could submit or vote on prompts or something? Or readers submit a song and author writes a one shot based on a song. Something like that where readers can be involved too :)" We could also easily incoporate this in a big bang - do a prompt bang or a reverse bang (fic based on art) for example? Or maybe involve readers in the weekly challenges, by suggesting tropes/words/... ?

"Write a comment on a fic-week!" Yessss!!!! I am like... 95% sure there is a tumblr-wide event for this already but I can't for the life of me find it. So I could signal boost that or yeah, we could just pin a day ourselves :).

"Group chat/watch" I'm afraid I'm not the right person to organize this kind of thing, but if you've been thinking of doing this and you were afraid no one would be interested - this is your sign!! ;)

"live writing event" Same as above - though I do think there's some discords where this happens already?

"Some sort of collab, where authors get to write a fic together." This could definitely be fun! There is currently one that originated on Twitter called Unlabeled - I don't know all the writers but I recognize at least @yourdemiurge, @skydragon05, @1-life-to-give, and @in-amor-veritas. Which obviously doesn't help if you're a writer wanting to collab, but at least there's people with experience in this fandom ;).

"Maybe a poetry week?" I don't even write poetry but I'm obsessed with this suggestion. Could also be a writing challenge? Not sure about a whole week either, but there's World Poetry Day in March so maybe that can be a mini-event?

"Something not fic centered? Like fanart, edits, cosplay etc." This is one of those things that I'm throwing out there for other people to run with, maybe, because. Well, I'm a writer and I know fic, but I really don't know much about the rest... Which is not to say I don't want to (help) run anything like this because it definitely could be fun, but it's a little out of my wheelhouse. But maybe @youngroyalsfanartarchive can help or knows people who would?

Consider the below not as a definitive list but as a stream-of-consciousness conversation starters, so don't hesitate to send me your thoughts.

I will definitely do a Big Bang. Prompt-based or art-based or wip-based or something else remains to be decided, but this will happen. It will not happen NOW, however, because we don't know when season 3 will air. Big Bangs are big events, they ask a lot from writers, and if the s3 premiers at any time between signups and publications, it's going to make everything more difficult. But there was sufficient interest by writers to participate, so once we got a s3 date I want to put a timeline on this.

I'm talking with people about a possible YR women's week. The general/Wilmon week scored higher in the polls, but since we already had that in spring I'd like to switch it up a little.

I would like to do *something* for the anniversary of s2. Don't want to go regular theme week for this because of the above possibility, but maybe the not-fic-centered event could be good for this - we could do favorite episode/favorite non-wilmon character/... which are things that non-content-creators can also participate in by writing a short paragraph, reblogging gifsets/art of that episode/character, ... "Finish your wip" would also be a good one for this though :)

The people behind the 2023 Secret Santa will not organize one this year, but I don't really want to jump in that, necessarily, because there's enough other possibilities and they might be back. But a Valentine fic exchange could maybe work?

The advent calendar idea drew mixed reactions (maybe because it's less well known?) and while I do think it could be fun, there's enough other things that people are excited about, so I'm putting it in the freezer for now.

The weekly challenges also drew mixed reactions - both readers and writers were excited to see them happen, but only a third of writers said they would definitely/probably participate. Then again, half of them said they would POSSIBLY participate. Maybe because it's an ongoing thing, so they don't want to promise they'd participate EACH WEEK but only sometimes? So I'm not sure about this (also because it would significantly up the time required to maintain the blog). So I'd love more feedback on this to see which shape or form you guys would like this to take.

Fic recs scored solidly in the middle of the possibilities for both reader and writers. I wanted to include it because I was curious, but I'm a little hesitant to really do something with it, mostly because it often ends up being a popularity contest and. Well. We already know how to sort by kudos/comments on AO3. So I'm curious to hear other people's experiences on how to maybe circumvent that.

The Author Interviews were the most contested event - even (or rather *especially* among writers (and I secretly think it's hilarious the most wanted event by writers is the one that doesn't require them to write at all :D). I do think it could be fun (though I admit this is a format mostly geared towards writers) to help other writers to find other people to collaborate with, find betas, learn about different writing processes, ... And a self-rec feature would allow for fic recs without the popularity factor. So I'll most likely run this as a (bi-)weekly feature alongside the other events.

Super hyped to announce that I'm opening commissions for the first time! It's a huge step that I've been back and forth on for... a long time tbh but I'm finally biting the bullet with comfortability and doing it.

Rules for commissioning:

No hate art (racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, etc) is to be asked for or made.

No extreme blood or gore, NSFW or suggestive, or non-adult ships (simply not comfortable with that, sorry).

Fandom and OCs are okay, but if it's an OC, a more specific design for a character I'm familiar with, or a character I am unfamiliar with, I will require references.

I will send progress reports over the social media of your choice, but if I don't receive an answer, I will stop the commission and refund based on progress.

I can only make major edits or offer full refunds within the sketch stage and no later, though if something is very off, don't hesitate to let me know!

I can do simple furry art but it will cost extra (it's not on the sheets because I wasn't sure what extra to charge but this can be discussed privately, if you wish).

Prices are set at the lowest I was comfortable going with, but you are more than welcome to pay what you'd like if you think it's worth more.

With all this said, I reserve the right to decline commissions as I see fit and the finished pieces will be posted here and on Instagram unless otherwise specified by the commissioner.

hey em! Could you please tag your fic posts and use the community labels, especially when the fics contain NSFW with dubious and non-consent? I know you placed the warnings inline to the post itself, but without the tags themselves, muting doesn’t work. I love your writing, your smut is one of the hottest things in the tavtash fandom microcosm, but I am beginning to find it difficult/risky to engage when your tagging and trigger warnings are so sporadic, and I keep getting surprise squicked :/

A few notes.

First of all what you're saying is not true and it's unfair. I have tagged dubcon and noncon pieces I have written, especially in the past months. All original posts are always tagged for noncon. Self-reblogs have not been.

Tbh I just assumed the original tags carry over in blocking for self-reblogs and I'm sorry to learn that they don't, so I will of course tag dubcon and noncon in the self-reblogs going forward. That I can and will easily do. Sorry that this caused you problems!

But you making it sound as if I continuously and carelessly expose my followers to dubcon/noncon or triggers is not fair and not true. I care a great deal about this stuff and I think everyone who followed any conversation I ever had about this here knows that. If there are specific triggers you want me to tag (like, say, eating disorder - which I haven't written but would easily tag, or drug addiction, or similar stuff) please send it and I will make sure to do that.

But. And this might be a dealbreaker for you, which I understand. For kinks beyond dubcon/noncon: I will not include all tags of AO3 on here in the tags. I will keep them in the text. I've mentioned this a few times before. If I tag them I'm going to put myself into tumblr purgatory and I'm risking my blog getting flagged/taken down.

I try to include every single kink (and thus potential squick) very diligently in the description of the fic. I'm not perfect but I try. AO3 is usually better which is why I started screenshotting that.

I cannot protect you from reading single words in the description. I can protect you from reading the fic, which is why I use "Read More" after the first 1-2 paragraphs, so unless you specifically ignore the kink description and then click "more" you don't have to read what's happening.

It is a bit ironic, because I have never seen an artist being asked to tag their explicit art even though that's something you immediately see, while a fic you have to actively start reading.

If you don't want to see my fics here and rather filter them by kinks or squicks on AO3 I would suggest muting #my writing (or I can use a more specific tag like #bearhugs writes for just my fics if you want me to so you can filter me out more easily) so you don't see my fics anymore and you can then browse them to your liking on Ao3.

Completely understand that you need to take care of yourself. That is why I have a big disclaimer in my bio that this is a NSFW blog. As well as a disclaimer very early on in my pinned post that I write non-con, too. If the measures I'm taking are not sufficient for you, I completely understand if you need to unfollow.

However I hope you understand where I'm coming from, too.

Again, self-reblogs I will start tagging, here I was simply naive and that's on me. If you have a very specific kink you need me to tag, feel free to send that too and I can watch out to tag that if I write it.

Regarding your post mentioning Genshin burnout, recently I kind of felt it as well ! The only saving grace for me was Scara's banner, I finally managed to get him on Tuesday after pining for him during the past few months. So I guess I kind of have more motivation to play now? Esp to build him along w his team (Layla and Faruzan also popped up in my rolls :D). But after I've built them sufficiently, I might lose motivation again ...

And I saw you mention toxicity on online platforms, this is so real (for both Genshin and HSR) 😭 Like I was scrolling on Reddit yesterday and I saw a hella cute AvenPaz family artwork. It was then reposted on another subreddit (It's kinda meme-y community) and OMG they were being so rude ... Like they legit seemed so pressed seeing Aventurine in a non-BL ship. They were going "ohhh the str8s are at it again," (they used a more obscene term that I won't name) and I was thinking: so my bi self is apparently mega straight now just because I like NL stuff, huh 🤨🤨 I had to unsubscribe, like I loved seeing the funny edit pics from this subreddit but whenever they see a NL ship (or even a hint that a male playable character could be with girl) they just absolutely become so rude... I guess it could have been worse (like straight up brigading the artist) but the negativity was so so off-putting. Ofc we could all have our own preferences but whyyy feel the need to become so insulting when they see something they don't like.

Big big sorry for longggg negative vibes rant 😭 Ngl I'm also super tempted to go off about the treatment of a certain architect by the hands of both Mihoyo and a huge chunk of Genshin fandom, but if it is too uncomfy for you then I will refrain. ^^ I don't want to disrespect your blog !

Tbh though it is comforting to know that there are at least other Genshin likers (esp girls) who have similar sentiments regarding BL and our favorite architect ahahah...

Honestly, the entirety of the Hoyoverse fandom is quite toxic. The only game that’s exempt from it, to my knowledge, is Tears of Themis.

Reddit is definitely up there with Twitter for being the most toxic platform in the fandom (I’m guessing TikTok and Instagram too, but I’ve never been on these sites). The BG/NL ship bashing is incredibly common, unfortunately. Really can’t enjoy anything NL on there. Really, why can’t they leave the things they don’t like alone and just move on? Why be so rude? 😔

I used to be a part of AlhaithamMains and things were mostly chill at first, but over time it became a haikaveh mains. Anyone who requested for there to be a separate sub for the ship was berated, and posts politely saying they didn’t see Kaveh and Alhaitham in a romantic light were rife with hateful and aggressive comments. I remember someone posted Kavehlumi art in KavehMains, and one person had the audacity to comment that Kaveh actually belongs to Alhaitham. And these types of comments were EVERYWHERE, under every NL ship post.

I took one peek into AventurineMains, saw the very first post talk about how Ratiorine is implied in the 2.0 quest, and noped out of there. Not surprised the same fate befell Aventurine 😔

So yes, Reddit is full of awful, loud people that ruin the fun for anyone who doesn’t ship the popular ship. You were right to leave. I left a long time ago and have been so much happier because of it. It’s unfortunate you have can’t enjoy a lot of things now, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to protect your mental health.

If you want to go off and rant about how Kaveh gets treated, please do! God knows I have my own gripes about it, so it’s really nice to know I’m not the only one troubled by it. Plus, I love it when people share their complaints with me, so don’t worry about being too negative.

Trust me, there are quite a few of us girls who love Kaveh but don’t care for BL. We just keep to ourselves and stay quiet to avoid trouble from the toxic shippers.

Mainly Kuroko no Basket and Haikyu!! I was very prolific in Supernatural (and I feel the urge returning tbh), and I keep umming and ahhing about writing in BNHA. In my past I have also written for Glee, Sherlock, and Harry Potter. And that's like, one fic for each fandom xD

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

To Make A Nest A Traditional Family Sammy's Little Boy Not Meant to Be This Omega is Mine Unsurprisingly, they are all SPN fics!

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! I love responding to comments. Sometimes it takes me years (I have honestly responded to comments that are 6 years old) but to me, it's about community, and I won't to share what I love - which is my fic! It's like I comment on peoples art and stories cos I want them to feel the love, and I love that you can become friends when they respond back! that is how I've made most of my fandom friends, and (especially) in this time of reduced interactions, I want to keep it going.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't do angst. I don't. But it's probably Sammy's Little Boy. That is one of the few true non-cons I have written and it doesn't end with it being good.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

They pretty much all have happy endings. Like.. that's my jam. but I guess Friday Nights (KagaKuro/AoKi) is pretty happy and Handkerchief Hijinks (AkaBoKuroo) Great and Striking Actions which Dazzle the Eyes (Destiel) is like, the funnest sort of crack fic but honestly a lot of what I write is pretty light.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

oh gosh yes! I once got death threats and it was awful. In retrospect they were an anon coward, but wow that was an experience. I think that antis are more vocal but they've been there forever. There's an element of such an idiot who can't not like something without informing everyone.

I have never written one, but I have one started at the moment! I have the first chapter and some general plot points. It's a KnB/HQ dystopian d/s verse. I think it's really cool, and I am SO TEMPTED to post the first chapter, but it can take a while to get back to some of my fics...

I think it’s good as long as it’s limited and you make sure it’s accurate and the reader knows what is going on anyway. My approach was that it should always be explained clearly later on or be an inconsequential fun little Easter egg for the reader to look up later

Oh my gosh. My first fic was Supernatural 🫣

where the shadow ends I think is my magnum opus at this point in my life. It’s novel length. It’s very emotional and important to me and really had a lot of real life feelings poured into it. It was so strangely woven into my life at the time I wrote it. It’s cathartic. It’s real. It’s a piece of my soul put on paper tbh. And that banner…oh my gosh. It was perfect and I’ll cherish it probably for the rest of my life

A runner up would be this multimedia fic I wrote during the pandemic and it was a fic told through a combo of text messages, pictures, videos, and chapter writing. I’m still v proud of it even though it’s very hard to share anywhere because of the format

Hi, first of all, love your fics and your art and sorry about the anon, but I am a bit (read: a lot) shy. I have been in the fandom for less than a couple of years (mostly scrolling through ao3 really 😅😅, and more recently getting a tumbr - which I'm still not very good at using) and I adore Fitzsimmons, and especially Fitz. Now, I was rewatching season 1 episode 8 (the one with the berserker) and it got me thinking. We got to see Ward's reaction to the berserker, but we didn't know about Fitz's story till much later on (we still hadn't even really seen much of his temper at that point) but it made me think: how would you think he'd react to it, knowing what we now know about his father. Maybe with Simmons comforting him after. I don't know if it could be a prompt for a fic or if it would even work, but I'd like to know what you think. Thank you also for all your lovely work.

Hi anon! I'm sorry it took me so long to reply! Thank you so much for your kind words about my fic and art and please know you don't have to worry about being shy, but I understand you being so! Now, onto your question:

It's a very interesting one and tbh I'm not sure how Fitz would react. I assume he'd get angry, of course, because that's what the Berserker does, but I think he would probably turn it inward and want to isolate himself from everyone. I'm not even sure if Jemma would be able to guess what specific effect it had on him at first and would probably let him fester after he snapped at her one too many times when she tried to comfort him. So Fitz would probably hole up in his bunk until enough time had passed for the effects to wear off, at which time he'd feel badly for treating Jemma so poorly and would make her tea to apologize. And maybe coffee for Skye for yelling at her, too.

You’ve been painting backdrops and decorations for the Snow Ball coming up and you’ve been at it all afternoon. You’re still hanging around when Steve gets out of practice a little after six. But he can’t leave without stopping by the Art classroom to see you because earlier in the day, he got back the results on an exam you spent almost two weeks helping him go over.

You’re the first person he wanted to tell that he aced it.

He’s leaning in the doorway, watching you as you sprawl out on the classroom floor, varying shades of purple, blue and white all over you and the light above your head making the glitter in your hair sparkle in it. You’re laughing. The topic turns to the Snow Ball.

“Are you going? Do you have a date?” Valerie asks the question as you’re preoccupied painting one of the letters on the big banner that’ll go over the gym doors on the night of the  dance. You shrug. “Dunno. I mean, nobody’s asked. And like.. I do want to go with someone but.. It’s a long shot.”

“Just say you wanna go with Steve and go, damn. We all know. The entire school thinks you’re dating, you realize that, right?”

You swallow hard, gazing up at Carol, who is the one who said it. “Huh?”

“Yeah. And Steve never actually denies it. Neither do you, come to think of it.” Carol points out with a calm smirk. You can feel your heart racing and your stomach fluttering. You shrug. “He’s probably gonna ask some real pretty girl. Didn’t he go to that movie with Natalie Allen last weekend?” you ask, a brow raised.

“And she was disappointed as hell when he dropped her off at Tina’s. She said he didn’t do a single thing the whole time but talk about you.”

Steve has to duck into the hallway and take several deep breaths. Classic Carol, he thinks to himself, stirring the pot somehow. But somehow, Carol saying all that she’s said isn’t as bad as he worried it would be. Because since the night about two weeks back when Dustin hinted that you might feel something too, he’s just been sitting on what he was told because he was afraid to do or say anything.

But now that it’s out, he thinks to himself, maybe I need to just go for it.

He steps back up to the doorway, staying out of sight as best as he can and just when he does, it's enough time to overhear what Dustin told him almost two weeks ago out of your own mouth.

“Come on. You can’t sit there and tell me you don’t feel something… Right?” Carol is studying you intently as she dips her paintbrush into deep blue paint.

“Okay, alright. I do. I really do. I love him.. I mean I think so…I just..” you’re doing that cute little thing where you fidget because you’re nervous. Picking at your sleeve. “Look at him, okay? He’s him… I’m.. Me…”

“He’s done way worse recently, I’ll have you know. Hello, that whole shit show with Nancy?” Carol insists.

You swallow hard. “Yeah, but I mean.. She’s actually pretty. And she’s not awkward or clumsy. And she’s probably uh.. Ya know.. Got experience… with things. I do not.”

Carol pops a bubble with her gum as she stares at you like you’ve suddenly grown three heads. “I’m not dignifying any of what you just said with an answer because it’s fucking stupid.”

“Agreed.” Valerie adds. And when she catches sight of Steve lingering by the open door, she pulls herself off the floor and holds a hand out to Carol. “C’mon. I wanna do something bad.”

“Oh yeah? What’s that?”

“We gotta go down to my locker. It’s hidden in there.” Valerie answers, practically dragging Carol out of the classroom and right past Steve, the two of them so distracted in their little mission that neither of them seem to see Steve standing there, frozen in place and stunned out of his mind right beside the  door.

Steve takes a deep breath and drags his hand over his face. He can’t come up with anything to dispute what he’s just heard out of his own mouth and he knows it. And the overwhelming urge to just do something is about to drive him insane, it has been for a while now.

And before you can say anything, Carol and Valerie are gone. Probably to smoke a joint in the bathroom because it wouldn’t be the first time Val’s done it when you’re just hanging out on campus after school is done for the day like this. 

You’ve just started to work on covering some snowflakes in glitter when you hear the door to the classroom close quietly.

And then you hear Steve’s throat clear. You sit up and stretch, grinning at him. “Hey! I didn’t think you’d still be here..” you pull yourself off your feet and make your way over, and you’re about to hug him but just like you tend to most of the time, you stop yourself short. And Steve’s staring at you. Intently. Lost in thought. Dazed.

“Steve? Are you okay?” you gaze at him in concern. You remember the exam he had that morning and you sigh. “Didn’t go well, huh?” you hug against him, carefully so you don’t get any wet paint that may be on you on his white shirt. You’re a little surprised when he pulls you against him so that your bodies are flush instead of awkwardly placed and his arms lock around you so tight that your breath catches in your throat for a few seconds.

“No, I passed. A -.” Steve mumbles when his brain finally lets him get words out properly. You throw your arms around his neck and you’re laughing. “I told you you’d pass!” you stick your tongue out at him and you’re so happy, so proud of him it seems, that something in him just snaps.

His hands settle on either side of your face and he pulls your mouth against his, his tongue outlining your lips before his lips latch onto them. You whimper, shivering a little. Melting against him as your fingers tangle in sweaty hair that’s sticking up everywhere on his head. His tongue invades your mouth, running along yours. Massaging. Dominating the kiss. Your brain still hasn’t quite processed what’s happening, but you want it bad enough that you’re very responsive, very vocal, every little whimper and whine and the way your teeth latch onto his bottom lip and bite down gently when you pull away just a little to breathe, mouths still connected by a strand of saliva… It’s even further confirmation that there is something there.

And he can’t just ignore it now.

He’s gotta do something about it.

“S-steve?” you’re still processing what just happened. Dripping and hot all over, squirmy under his intent gaze. He wipes the back of his hand over his mouth and his forehead falls against your own as he attempts to catch his breath completely. “Sorry, I..” he mutters quietly, you shake your head at him, “No,no.. Don’t uh.. Don’t apologize, okay? I liked it.” you admit, going red in the face which makes him chuckle quietly. “Somebody’s blushing right now.”

“Am I?” you breathe out. He nods. “It’s cute.”

“I uh… why, though?” you question, gazing up at him with such a puzzled look on your face that he laughs softly. “Because I like you. A lot.”

“Oh.” you mumble softly. And then, it finally hits you. “Oh.” you mumble again, awe in your voice. “I don’t mean it the way you’re thinking, I… It’s driving me crazy, alright? I like you so much it’s scary.” -and he doesn’t say it, but he’s thinking that this is terrifying and he’s second-guessing his entire decision and questioning whether what he heard was misunderstood, but then you’re melting against him, pulling him down to your level with a hand fisting at sweaty hair as you crash your mouth against his and nip at his bottom lip until the shock wears off on his end and his mouth falls open for you. You sigh against his mouth and admit quietly, “I know what you mean. I’ve wanted to say something I just..” you trail off and he speaks up, his mouth meeting yours again so that the word is swallowed by the kiss, “Couldn’t. Me too.” he takes a very long and shaky breath as he stares at you through heavy lidded brown eyes.

And then Carol and Valerie clear their throats from the doorway. “Finally?”

Steve’s holding out a middle finger to both of them and you’re hiding your heated face in the front of his shirt. He glances down at you. “Do you uh.. Do you wanna get outta here? Y’know,” he nods to the blue and purple and white hues all over your clothes and skin as he chuckles and smirks, “Before that shit dries and ruins your favorite jeans?”

“Yeah.” you manage to answer, but your legs feel like Jello so instead of moving, you stay melted against him and you take a second or two to pull yourself together. When you’ve stood there cuddled against him for what your two friends deem a long enough period of time, they yell in unison, “Oh my god, go! Go make out or something, shit!”

“We’re fiiiine. We’ll totally get these signs and stuff hung up. Yeah.”

You glance from one to the other. “Okay. Alright.”

Steve hasn’t felt this lightweight in a while. Months.

On a whim, he scoops you up and the two of you spill into the hallway, rushing through the double doors at the end and out into the dim light of an early sunset. 

You’re sat atop the hood of his BMW and he pushes your legs apart to stand between them. “So uh… you’ll come with me, right? You’re.. We’re..”

You laugh softly. “Depends on what you’re asking.” as you nod your head yes and lean against him, your heart racing and the smile on your face so big that it hurts almost. 

“Right, yeah.. The Snow Ball thing.. Will you uh… Go to it with me? As my girlfriend?” he’s fidgeting and you can’t help but laugh because it’s the cutest damn thing you’ve ever seen. Your arms slip around his neck and you smile, nodding and laughing. “I will. As your girlfriend.”

“Do you, uh… Do you wanna come over? We can watch movies or something..”

You nod and smile. “I’d love that.”
