Godly Leadership: A Different Metric for Measuring Success
When considering those called into service by the Lord, success is measured by faithfulness to God, His Word, and the call itself, rather than output or results.
By most standards, successful leaders get good results. Their success is not measured by their output, but their outcomes. If the good results are not there, the leaders are called a failure. This is true in politics, business, sports, academics, nonprofits, etc. Ideally, we like to see leaders who operate by high moral standards AND produce good results. Sadly, there are some leaders who will…

ZOROASTER, as many say, was the same as the son of Noah named Ham. He was the first king of the Bactrians, and the first inventor of the arts of magic, and the seven liberal arts, and the courses of the sky and the stars. There are those who will report that he laughed as he was born. This should not be taken as a good omen; common people wail while being born. And so he was conquered by Ninus, and Ninus was also struck by an arrow; he died of this wound, leaving behind his son and heir, who was named Ninias. Ninus built the city of Nineveh, which took three days to walk around, and which Cyrus, King of the Assyrians, destroyed. Augustine, City of God, book 21, chapter 4; Eusebius; Pliny, book 30, chapter 7.

Daily Sermon #79
"Praise the Lamb, conduit to great power and promised liberator of The One Who Waits. Yet sacrificial beast, take heed; for a Crown cannot sit upon two brows."
"Sacrifice reborn Vessel, ascend once more and take true form; no longer a servant, no less than a God."
"Repent; for the Kingdom of the Lamb has arisen."
"Shepherd of souls, guide them now into the After so they may not lose their way."
"By the Lamb may we live; and in time, by the Lamb may we die."
"Having witnessed such greatness, and in sharing this truth, the Gospel of the Lamb is born."

Labor and Building the Temple (1 Kings 5:13-18)
Why we do what we do is just as important as what we do.
Mural of King Solomon and building the Temple, Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Los Angeles Solomon ordered 30,000 people from all over Israel to cut logs for the temple, and he put Adoniram in charge of these workers. Solomon divided them into three groups of 10,000. Each group worked one month in Lebanon and had two months off at home. He also had 80,000 workers to cut stone in the hill country of…

ELEAZAR, son of Aaron, was made High Priest upon the death of his father, in the 2491st year of the world and the 1471st before Christ was born.
He and Joshua gained the land of Canaan, which they called Judea. It was divided among the twelve tribes of the children of Israel, whose names were the Tribe of Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulon, Gad, Asher, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Manasseh.
Eleazar died in the same year as Joshua. See Exodus ch. 6, also Joshua ch. 24.

Taking Care of Business
Titus 1.1-16 Paul writes to Titus, instructing him to set things in order and appoint elders…men who are well qualified to lead the flock as stewards of God. The importance of sound doctrine…of the faithful preaching and teaching of the Word…must not be underestimated. A church stands…or falls…based on its fidelity to the Scriptures. That’s why it’s so important that we have elders who are…

In Faith Without Fear, he warns Sydney Anglican leaders about the consequences of their tight rein on acceptable interpretations of biblical texts, especially those relating to gender and sexuality:
You would not be justified in discouraging others from carefully and courageously researching this topic, simply because it might unsettle beliefs you are hoping people will not discard. You would not be justified in restricting the flow of information on this and other topics, simply because adverse conclusions might undercut pet projects . . . If you did any of these things, you could have become morally and intellectually compromised.
