Gosh I am so tempted to write a lil spinoff crossover between my cryptid batfam story and ATLA. Like you cannot tell me Bruce wouldn't adopt the banished fire prince if he got even the smallest of chances.
Angry traumatized vigilante child? Who gets mistaken for a spirit and creature which is this world's versions of gods and cryptids? He would snatch him up in an instant.

My hot Narnia take is that the Pevensie children, though undeniably Odd and Uncannily Grown on their return to England, do not actually stand out among their cohort of World War 2 children. They’re not the most traumatized kids in their boarding school, they might not even be the most traumatized kids on their street. One of Lucy’s friends came on the Kindertransport and lost her entire family. One of the boys down the street who Edmund used to play with lost his baby sister in the Blitz. The Pevensies, who stayed together, got their father back in some capacity, and maintained a general sense of truth and justice and evil witches being defeated with minimal casualties, were probably considered by their teachers to be jolly well adjusted. Yes, they do have a few strange habits and a rather grownup look in their eyes, but they don’t hide food in their dormitory beds, they don’t compulsively cover the windows or flinch at sirens. Peter occasionally jolts awake calling for his squire but that’s fun, that’s charming, maybe he’ll be a professor of the classics! His dormmate has dreams of bombs falling and there’s less that can be done about that.

I only JUST realized azure lion had a actual icarus arc where he flew too close to the sun in his ambitions and burned to ash before drowning in the waves of his own failures. man LEGITIMATELY flew too close to the sun in so many ways man
the sun- the jade emperors power
the son wukong- the monkey king who doesnt abide by azure lions idea of a better world and what it costs
and the son- monkie boy who's had it up to HERE with azure lions none sense
I kinda love it, azure got exactly what he was warned he was gonna get. stuck his whole arm in that monkey cage man
I KNOW. AZURE IS SUCH A TRAGIC ICARUS TYPE CHARACTER
I've mentioned it before but that's like, lowkey every antagonist in this show. It goes like this:
Antagonist is caught for doing something they probably shouldn't be doing, and is then sealed away.
Antagonist is released when they shouldn't be, and instead of going "hmmm maybe I need to re-evaluate myself" they go directly back to their previous plans. "To live past the end of your myth is a perilous thing" —Anne Carson. All of these antagonists desperately want to live past the end of their myths and keep their story going (and they are doomed to fail).
Antagonist, who was stopped by Sun Wukong in the past, is now stopped by MK, either becoming their own undoing and destroying themselves or giving up (LBD, Spider Queen, and Azure being the former, with DBK being the latter).

when i was a kid i used to write stories about dr. katz, a 6 foot tall cat man who was a paediatrician. but he’d always eat all his patients. he ate children. i never explained how he kept his job, considering all the dead children. anyways, i’d always draw him wearing an old fashioned nurse uniforms, like in cartoons. that wasn’t to imply crossdressing was some creepy lunatic thing, i just found it more fun to draw a nurse’s uniform than some regular doctor uniform
